18v Battery - chargers, lithium-ion
I had seen other reviews of this charger that said it could revive old Ryobi 18V NiCds. I have two NiCds that have worked great for several years, but are approaching the end of their lives. One of them, in fact, would no longer take a charge at all from the old NiCd charger. When I put my old batteries on this new charger they both charged well and are very usable again. The only caveat is that the batteries will still lose their charge within about 24 hrs (did I mention they're old :-), but if I know a little in advance when I'm going to need them I can just put one of them on the charger an hour before and I'm set to go for that job. Eventually I am going to get some new batteries (not sure yet if they will be NiCd or Li-ion), but this charger has extended the life of my old batteries at a time when I need to stretch my dollars as much as possible.
There are two lights on the charger that tell you what the charger is doing and what state your battery is in. If you can't remember what this light flashing, or that light on steady means, there is a handy, large reference panel right below the lights so it takes about 1 second to glance down to see what the lights are telling you.
One more thing I like about this charger that the old one didn't have: This one has holes on the back to allow it to be mounted on a wall. One less thing to take up space on the workbench! Also, with it mounted on the wall it only takes one hand to pull the batteries out of the charger. Brilliant! Ryobi 140501001 18V Lithium-ion 1-Hour Battery Charger
I have had this for a little over a year and it worked great with light use. This morning I went over to plug in a battery and noticed the unit seemed completely dead. Tried a different battery and outlet, nothing.
I opened the unit up to see if the fuse had blown and found a small plastic piece rattling around. The piece turned out to be an electrical voltage regulator component that had completely failed, cracking itself in half. Thankfully this failure didn't cause a fire or any additional damage. The fuse remained intact.
This makes me concerned that the design is either flawed or that the components used are of poor quality.
I have both Lithium Ion and NiCad batteries and this charger works well with both. I have a Ryobi drill and electric blower and I use both types of batteries with the charger and the tools. The charger is fast and easy to use. I like the status led indicators on the unit, as well. I am glad I purchased this unit, which was reconditioned.
Thought that all of a sudden all of my ni-cads were toast. No real upgrade option since
Ryobi doesn't offer a battery/charger upgrade for li-ions. Figured it was strange that all my batteries died at once so I popped for this charger. Worst case would have been that my nicads were still toast but it will allow me to upgrade to the better batteries later. Popped each into the new charger. Within a few minutes they were done. I think they held a charge, just needed to be reset or something. They're all working great. Probably will upgrade the batteries this year. But I'll be able to wait until there is a sale on the 2 pks.
I've got a "Chicken and the Egg" scenario with this charger...two brand new Ryobi batteries (NOT lithium...my mistake) seem to hold less-and-less of a charge each time I recharge them. I don't know if it's the charger or the battery. That aside...
...The lights on the left side are too confusing. There's a red and green light, and there are instructions on what each of five scenarios mean...problem is that the red light is either lit, blinking, or off...same thing with the green light. The combination is supposed to mean something, but it's very hard to determine.
Whatever happened to "Red light when charging, green light when done"?
That aside, it feels lightweight (cheap), and you can't pull the battery out with one hand. I have to use my foot and hand if I'm holding my Ryobi tools.
So, just 3 stars. It's "Just OK". - Lithium-ion - 18v - Ryobi - Chargers'

Dress Socks - clothes, socks
For decades I have been unable to find even a close substitute for the finest socks I have ever worn. Gold toe short, woolen "Canterbury Dress Socks" are not to be matched. I love the feel and comfort, durability, fit and looks of these fine mens socks and wear nothing but them other than tennis socks for sports. I have tried numerous other brands but only to find that I have been penny wise and pound foolish in the attempt. I am committed to Gold Toe Canterbury's for the rest of my life. Gold Toe Men's Canterbury Dress Sock, Black, 3-Pack Sock Size 10-13
These socks are great. I cannot find them in stores anymore. They are the right thickness for me. My feet sweat easily and if a sock is too thin, there isn't enough room for my feet to breathe inside my shoes and they sweat. Contrastingly, if a sock is too thick, they tend to be overly warm and uncomfortable as well. These socks strike the perfect balance between thickness and warmth.
I saw so many good reviews and I expected much more. I bought two packs and of the twelve socks, one had a hole in them when they were shipped. I didn't worry about it and just used the others. The socks have been through the wash approximately 5-7 times. Of the remaining eleven socks, I noticed that two of them had the elastic strings coming through and one has a hole.
I gave them two stars because they are not holding up, but, they are comfortable. A lot of my family members swear by gold toe socks, but, when I tried them, I expected them to last much longer than this.
I have been wearing gold toe socks for about 15 years now, but as other folks have pointed out, they don't seem to last long at all anymore. They don't seem to get holes, but the heal wears away pretty quickly (I just use them for work, no running or anything and nothing different from my older Gold Toes) I did notice that with this last set of socks I bought that they are no longer being make in the USA. I think they may have changed up the material being used at the same time.
These are not cheap socks, but who want to buy/wear cheap socks.
I have been wearing Gold Toe for over twenty years because they are comfortable and durable. Now I am buying them for my son when gift-giving time rolls around.
Gold Toe makes an excellent sock and their "Men's Canterbury Dress Sock" is no exception. The socks are remarkably comfortable. They are not thick; and although they are a bit thinner than other Gold Toe socks they will still withstand lots of wear. They almost never "bunch up" inside my shoes as I walk around and they are very much worth the price. They last longer so the long life of these socks justifies the slightly higher price.
I also like the design of the toe section actually being gold colored fabric. Amazon points out that these socks come in your choice of four different colors: black, navy blue, grey marl and brown. The safest, most conservative choice for the corporate office is the black color; but the other colors come in handy too depending on your work/play "dress code."
These socks can easily be washed in any washer or dryer--but I would heed the manufacturer's warning about not drying them at a high temperature. High temperatures in the clothes dryer cause the sock to wear out faster. The stretch nylon will stretch even more; and then these socks will become just too loose on your feet.
Please note that these are crew length socks. They will not come up your leg to the degree that some other socks will. You may consider them to be "too short." On the other hand, the socks also fit shoe sizes 7 through 12 so it's almost one size fits all.
Overall, Gold Toe is the brand to buy if you want good quality, long lasting socks. The "Canterbury Dress Socks" for men match any attire and they can even be worn in bed on those really cold nights to keep your feet warm!
Highly recommended! May you wear them in good health! SMILE
Great pair of socks. Good thick material and fits well. I like how the sock is big and comes half way up the shin. The only thing is that the ankle part in mine don't match my ankle and come out of the shoe...maybe a should try a smaller size...Still, very good socks...will buy more... - Dress Socks - Socks - Clothes'

Xoom Accessories
I pre-ordered this cover for my Xoom after looking at the other covers offered on Amazon and not finding one that seemed to work with the Xoom just perfectly. I had to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive and it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!
The quality of the leather is exceptional. The Xoom fits inside the cover just right - not too tight or too loose. There is an opening for everything you need on the tablet itself from charging, to power and volume, to camera. The stitching is very good quality.
The two things I was concerned about when ordering this was if the Velcro would be strong enough to keep the Xoom inside (especially when in portrait position) and the stand - from the pictures it didn't look very sturdy or well designed. First, the Velcro is excellent. It has enough hold to keep the Xoom firmly in whatever position you want it to be. Once in place, your Xoom won't move unless you release the hold. The stand on the back of the cover is actually excellent. It is much sturdier than it looks in the pictures. I found it great that it has a strong magnet to keep it closed when not needed. There is a ribbon that keeps the stand from sliding open more than you want. I've been able to adjust the angle of the stand and have no problems with it staying in place. The stand itself is thick and strong.
The entire cover is sleek and professional looking. It was worth the wait and very much worth the money. I am very happy with it. It is now my favorite accessory I've bought for my Xoom, with the keyboard being my next favorite. I expect it will last a long time and be the protection I need since I carry the Xoom around with me everywhere. When I place my keyboard on top of the open cover, it's the perfect height for typing comfortably.
I believe that this is the best option out there so far to cover your Xoom! Too bad Motorola didn't think of all the little details when designing their cover. And thank heavens this company took the time to do just that! rooCASE Executive Portfolio (Black) Leather Case Cover with Landscape / Portrait View for Motorola XOOM Android Tablet
I initially preordered this case before any reviews had come out so I was skeptical at first. After receiving this case however, I could not have expected anything more. My Xoom fits very nicely inside of the case as the interior detaches from the portfolio allowing for even more flexibility. All of the holes in the case are cut out at very generous junctions allowing for full functionality of the device while still being protected. The best part of this case has to be the kick-stand that allows you to set the device at different angles instead of constantly being required to hold it. This has allowed for many of the type-heavy apps to become more useful as I know longer have to hold it with the same hand that I am attempting to type something with.
All in all, I am very pleased with this case and would purchase from this company again in the future.
looks like leather, feels like leather, smells like leather.....sooooo I guess it is leather...great case for my Xoom. Solid construction, good fit and ALL ports are open without removing case. Stand on back of case great to set on desk at 45 degree angle without removing case.....
Couldn't have asked for a better case. The xoom fits perfectly into the leather sleave, and the entire case is put together very well. The Velcro on the back of the sleave allows for viewing in landscape and portrait. Even when the xoom is enclosed in the zippered case it can be charged due to the duel zippers that allows for a gap to insert the charging plug. The only downside I can find is the fact that the speakers are blocked when the sleave is resting in the zippered case.Even then the sound quallity is affected very little.
The Roocase for Xoom works well as a portfolio type case for the Xoom. It's made well, and made for the Xoom diminsions. The con that I have with it is it's functionality. The inner case that is meant to fit over the Xoom itself slides down over the backward facing camera, and is extremely bulky. The most annoying part is that you must remove the inner case from the cover to turn on the Xoom because of the location of the power button. That means that you rip the inner cover off the velcro to turn on the Xoom then place it back into the cover. I don't use the inner case. I use the rubber mold that came with my Xoom and put it inside the Roocase cover.
First of all, I have to admit that the negative reviewers (the few that there are) actually prejudiced me somewhat so that I didn't expect the product to be as good as the enthusiastic reviewers claimed. Sadly, one of the points that one of the negative reviews pointed out was that the inner case impedes the use of the browser quick menu because the case opening is too close to the active edge of the screen... this problem is a slight annoyance (but can be worked around by deliberately sliding the xoom a bit to one side. So that was the one star deduction from "fits perfectly". Otherwise its snug and secure but not difficult to removed the device completely.
The second problem was that the front-facing camera is partially blocked by the inner case. That was the functionality "ding". However, to offset this, the inner sleeve is ideal for use while relaxing or even holding the xoom while laying in bed. There is just enough surface in just the right places to afford handholds which the xoom doesn't offer.
Prior to buying the Roo case, I had been using the Motorola hard case which has some nice features and a sporty (or almost military) look but has far more drawbacks than the Roo case. Overall I tend to agree with the Roo case enthusiasts. Although the outer case is somewhat larger than the Motorola hard case, I cannot imagine a more professional-looking case than the Roo, and the quality of the materials makes me think that the Roo case is quite a bargain.
Someone said the kickstand isn't strong enough... that assessment is wrong (or at least its not a problem with the item I received) Oh, and don't bother being concerned about leaving the xoom in the Roo case while its docked; the xoom is very easy to remove and install so there's no need to horse around with folding the case just the right way to get it out of the way when docked. Just put the Roo case aside while the xoom is docked.'

Housebreaking Aids - housebreaking aids, dog diapers
I bought two of these in size medium for my elderly sheltie who suffered from prostate infections (turned out to be cancer), and they were one of the best purchases I've ever made. They worked perfectly for us, although our little guy was extremely tolerant of being handled and wearing things, so he never tried to mess with the wrap, and acted like it wasn't even there.
I bought "heavy" or "overnight" feminine pads at the grocery store WITH WINGS, the wings are very important, and used those as liners. They're wide, and worked great when my little boy just had little drippies. When he was really sick and really let go in his diaper, that's where Tena Serenity for Men bladder pads were necessary. If your boy dog really *goes* in his diaper, or is a bigger dog with more volume, those Tena Serenity Men pads were heaven-sent. They're sort of a triangle shape, so if your boy dog's *ahem* shifts from one side to the other, you are covered no matter what. With feminine pads, if you've got a volume of pee, and your boy dog isn't *perfectly* centered on the pad, you're gonna have some denim diaper washing to do.
I've put these denim diaper-wraps in the dryer, they came out just fine.
Amazon has THE best price on these doggie wraps. Simple Solution Washable Male Wrap, Medium
This wrap works great with thin overnight sanitary pads. Holds the urine and keeps the wall/carpet dry when I can't keep an eye on my little terrier every second. He doesn't urinate alot when he does..just the size of a nickle on the pad (ya he is marking..not having to go) so it really saves the house from smelling like urine when these tiny spots add up. Hopefully someday I will get him to stop marking..neutering as a pup has not prevented his desire to claim all.
If you are considering between sizes..do get the larger size..my dog is 17lbs and the medium just fits him perfect after the initial washing that is reccomended.
I have a territorial 11 month old Yorkshire Terrier. I had to wait to have him neutered because he had to have surgery for a liver shunt. He discovered the joys of marking and thought he owned everything in my house, from the front of my refrigerator and stove to my shoes and vacuum. He's housebroken. He's just bent on total house domination. This diaper garment combined with a regular sanitary pad and my house is mine again. The size small fits my little 4.7 pound guy perfectly and he doesn't mind wearing it. He actually seems to be less inclined to try to mark while wearing it. I bought a few more so I can have some in reserves.
Another reviewer mentioned that the one they got doesn't seem to provide adequate coverage, or doesn't stay put. I'm wondering if maybe they need a smaller size? My Yorkie is a very active dog and spends lots of time rough housing with his 90 pound Rottweiler sister, and it doesn't come loose or move around.
When I recently moved back in with my Mother for a few months, I brought my extremely dominant male dog along as well. The male markings he was making were numerous and causing my mother and I to go crazy! This male garment was my sanity keeper! It has been the greatest help. Although you might have to wash it a lot(depending how often he urinates)I could'nt have asked for a better product. I do;however, put feminine napkins inside the garment for extra protection. Otherwise, It's great, I totally recommend it if you hate cleaning up pee every five seconds!!YUK!!
Even tho the original I got was too small, the large fits my 13 year old Male American Bulldog, I've found it works best for him using the smallest size "baby" diapers, they hold sooooo much more liquid than the pads you can get.
He has prostrate cancer, and poor baby leaks ALL the time and even more so when he lies down, he did figure out how to wriggle out of his "diaper wrap" which is funny to watch, but all in all this product works fine.
I had very serious doubts about this working. I have an Australian Shepherd and bought the large size even though he technically was at the upper end of what the criteria was for a size medium. Glad I did, because it does shrink some in the dryer. We have not had one accident since we got it. It is very comfortable on him (not binding) and he does not mind it at all. It only took about one minute for him to get over the oddness of having it on. He's worn it every day since we got it. I put female thin maxi pads in it. Truthfully though I have only had to change the pad once! Because he has the wrap on, he waits to pee until we take him outside. He has the OPTION to pee if he can't hold it. he can "go" into the wrap/diaper if he needs to, but he chooses not to. The great thing is that he isnt having accidents and marking all over the place. it was terrible, our new carpet was being ruined by him (he's 15 years old). This may sound drastic, but this diaper wrap has SAVED THE DAY and allowed us to NOT consider putting him to sleep. Things were looking dire before I found this. he was peeing in the new house all the time. This is for male dogs only and fits perfectly over their "anatomy" on their lower tummy. I recommend buying two so that if one is in the laundry, you have a spare. We've been getting by fine with one, but I think a spare would be more ideal. I wish I had found this 6 MONTHS ago! If your dog is borderline, buy the next larger size!
What a lifesaver (for my dogs)! Couldn't get them to stop urinating on the floors, my goal was to catch them at it and their goal was to sneak a leak without getting caught, guess who won. These are easy to put on and to pull off when I put them outside. No more puddles on my floors.
Thought I had "lost that lovin feeling", but now its come back. Highly recommend these if you also have a rebellious dog.
First, the sizing shown on the Amazon website is different from the sizing shown on the product package. The package says that small is for dogs up to 15 lb with a 9-13 inch waist. Medium is 15-45, with a 13-21 inch waist. Large is for 45-90 lb dogs with a 21-30 inch waist and x-large is 90-120 lbs. with a 30-32 inch waist. On the product page on the Amazon website, the x-large is said to be for dogs 55 to 120 pounds and waist size of 22 to 40 inches.
I have been buying the x-large for my dog who is about 50-55 pounds with a 28 inch waist. Maybe I should be buying the large, and the large might do a better job.
Even so, I am happy with the product and have purchased four in all, all in the x-tra large.
Bearing in mind that I might be buying the wrong size, and the correct size might do a better job, I still would recommend this product.
This product essentially is a long denim rectangle with a flannel lining. It has elastic on the long ends and sturdy velcro strips on the short ends. There is a pad in the middle which is pretty leak-proof. If I had a complaint, it would be the size of this pad, which is about four inches by six for the x-tra large (guestimate-I didn't measure). You are supposed to place a disposable pad over this area. Based on the suggestions of other reviewers, I did not buy the pads that are recommended. Instead, I have been using the Tena Male Serenity Guards as recommended by another reviewer. I thank him/her for the suggestion.
With the disposable pad or guard in place, the wrap is then placed around the dog and fastened with the velcro strips. Make sure you cover the appropriate area.
With the x-tra large, it does bunch up and gather at both ends, but I have opted to remain with this size primarily because it does not appear to bind and make the dog uncomfortable. He doesn't LOVE wearing it, but he doesn't hate it, either, and I have never seen him try to take it off. I also clean his underside as needed.
Sometimes, there has been a very significant leak which has shown up on my floor in rather long trails. This has only happened twice in a span of a month. However, I believe that I probably did not place the wrap correctly since the disposable guard itself was virtually unaffected.
Usually, if the urination is moderate, there might be a little dampness by the edge. Sometimes, there is no leakage at all. If the urination is heavy, unfortunately, there might be a lot of dampness, but I have only been able to find the guards for "moderate" leakage, so it might not be the wrap that is the problem.
Regardless, it beats the cleaning up I used to have to do. A little leak or dampness every now and then is a lot easier to clean than a trail several times a day. (My dog has Cushing's, a symptom of which is frequent urination.)
The instructions say that it is machine washable but it should be hung dry. However, it takes a LONG time to dry because it is not made of thin materials. I ended up using the dryer, and so far, it's been fine. When it gets warmer, I will try hanging them and see how that works.
The bottom line--is it perfect? No. Maybe some of my complaints would disappear if I bought the smaller size and it didn't have so much bunching (allowing for leaks), but I am very happy with this product. I still take the dog out, without the wrap, of course, very frequently, as I would rather not have him urinate on the pad. But his timing isn't always regular or compatible with my schedule, so honestly, it has been a real stress-reliever for me. I had resisted buying "doggie diapers" for months; now I wonder why I did. I was afraid my dog would be "humiliated," but he doesn't seem so. - Belly Band - Dog Diapers - Dog Incontinence - Housebreaking Aids'

Portable Gps - gps, nuvi
I have this unit for 10 days now and overall I am very happy with it. For its mainstream feature, navigation, it is excellent. I had a Garmin 350 before this which I loved but it was stolen from my car. I had a Magellan after that which was crap. The price on this unit was great ($247 - Amazon).
I chose it over the 1390T because I opted to not get bluetooth. It is the only difference between the units. I felt the bluetooth quality would be poor based on other reviews of bluetooth in general on GPS units. The main reason was in the way most people use bluetooth. In a typical day I am in and out of my car often. I always need my bluetooth immediately in case I get a call. I don't always need my GPS. And since my previous unit was stolen, and theft of these units is a big problem everywhere, I keep the unit hidden or sometimes remove it from the car. So if you are like me but you get this unit for bluetooth, you will need to stop and mount your gps everytime you get in the car whether you need it or not, just to have blue tooth capability. If you forget and the cell phone rings, you have no bluetooth. So I purchased a separate bluetooth speaker phone from Jabra (very good unit# which is always attached to my visor, pretty good quality, and always there when I need it. I saved about $75 by opting for the 1350T over the 1390T.
A few minor disappointments. The Lane Assist feature works great but is not available everywhere. I used it around NYC and it was helpful. I drove through Pennsylvania and upstate NY and it was not available. Marketing material hypes this feature but they neglect to tell you this one point. But when it is available, it is a great feature. That brings me to traffic. Same story here. I was driving through PA and hit a 1 hour traffic jam. No warnings from the traffic feature because it was not available in that area. When I got to the Scranton, PA area the traffic alerts started working. It alerted me of a major traffic jam ahead and it even rerouted my trip automatically. The reroute would have been a significant addition in miles but would be worth it to avoid the traffic, right? I decided to ignore the re-route just to test the unit to see if the alert was accurate and I was willing to endure the traffic. As I drove my original route, no traffic anywhere. So had I listened to the traffic alert, I would have driven 50 miles out of my way for nothing. Bottom line is, don't let the traffic feature be a deal breaker for the unit you choose. But then again, I got the 1350T for about the same price as the 1350 #same unit without traffic). Updating the map was more difficult than it should have been. I consider myself a very technical person with computers and gadgets but the map update did not go smoothly and took me several tries. I could see where many people will have difficulty with this if they attempt to update the map. Garmin nüvi 1370/1370T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic (Factory Refurbished)
Overall, I am very satisfied with the Garmin nuvi 1350 but I do have a couple of minor complaints.
First of all, I do recommend that owners/potential buyers visit the Garmin web site to read through all of the product information and to review the FAQs. Some folks have made an issue of Garmin not including the USB cable with the device but this did not matter to me. The required cable is a standard type "A" to mini "B" USB cable. Many other devices use this same cable and I already own a couple of them. (I also heard that if you contact Garmin customer service, they may send you a cable at no charge.) Other reasons to visit the Garmin site: to register the product, to download the full PDF manual and to install the "my Garmin Agent Plugin" for web updates.
Next, my quibbles:
When the 1350 is plugged into a charging device (PC or vehicle), there is no way to determine when the unit is fully charged. This is very inconvenient. To view the charge level, you have to unplug the device and turn it on. Only then can you see the battery level. According to the Garmin FAQs, charge time is about 4 hours using the vehicle cable and 8 hours using the PC cable.
One of the features of the 1350 is the speed limit display. However, I find this to be of limited value. The speed display is frequently 5 to 10 mph too high compared with the actual posted speeds on the roads being traveled. As a result, this throws off the estimated destination arrival time.
Finally, why I am impressed:
When driving with the 1350, I never had any doubt where I was at any given time and I never had any doubt what my next maneuver would be (and isn't this the bottom line of any GPS?). The voice commands have plenty of volume, are easy to understand and they also give you adequate lead time for upcoming turns. The commands will also repeat but the voice is not annoying. Several times, I deliberately missed a turn to test how the 1350 would respond. It quickly calculated a revised route based on my current location.
I also found the screen to be clear and easy to see while driving (in bright sun, shade and at night).
The full manual states that a PDA type stylus can be used for the touch screen. I found this to be convenient (I'm actually using a stylus from a Nintendo DS.) While you can certainly use your finger on the screen, this will leave fingerprints and smudges on the screen.
Other notes:
I have the 1350 sitting on my dash with the Garmin "Portable Friction Mount" - highly recommended.
My 1350 came with a free case - the Caselogic MGPS-2. This case adequately protects the 1350 when it's not being used.
Overall, this has been a great purchase for my business travels and I would rate the unit as four and a half stars.
I've used this GPS for several weeks now and when it is fully charged it is absolutely great. The voice is loud and clear, the maps are accurate and detailed. It acquires satellites quickly, even in less than optimal circumstances with trees overhead or tall buildings nearby. It is easy to program and the onscreen menus are convenient. It is thin and reasonably light and portable and the screen is big. But it has one major problem: the cigarette-lighter charging system does not supply enough current to charge the GPS while it is turned on. It is unbelievable that Garmin would allow their unit to be sold under these conditions.
When I received the unit I completely charged the battery (by connecting it to my computer using a USB cable which Garmin does not supply, but I happened to have one anyway). Then I used it in my car, always plugged into the cigarette lighter. It turns on automatically whenever you start the car, and it turns off automatically when the ignition switch is turned off. However, over this two week period the battery slowly discharged (without my knowledge) until it reached a point where the unit would no longer turn on, even when plugged in to the car charger. Assuming the unit was defective, I called Garmin and (after 20 minutes on hold) learned that the car charger is not up to the task, and that the GPS will slowly lose its charge when it is turned on, even if you have it connected to the cigarette lighter adapter. I believe this means that if you have a long drive, perhaps 8 hours or more, then the unit may not even remain operational throughout the full trip. Other people have made similar complaints about some of the other Garmin GPS units.
The tech support people explained how to recover from the low battery situation: you do a "soft reset" which simply involves holding down the on/off button for 10 seconds. Then the unit will turn on, but the battery will need recharging. I was told to do this by connecting it to my computer using a USB cable, which Garmin does not supply with the GPS (fortunately I already had one), but I assume you could do the same by connecting it to the car charger and making certain that the unit is turned off while it is charging.
What a shame that Garmin has produced a superior product with a fatal defect. I will keep mine for now, but I'm going to investigate other charging solutions. Perhaps after reading this review, the wizards at Garmin will redesign the charging system for this GPS.
Update (Aug 1/09): I discovered the reason for these charging issues: In the User's Manual, under "Troubleshooting", Garmin states that the Nuvi will not charge if it is in direct sunlight or if the temperature is more than 113 degrees F (45 deg C). Since I had my unit attached to the windshield, and since I only drive during midday, it is always in sunlight. This charging rule applies to many other models as well; for any given model you can download the manual from Garmin, turn to the Troubleshooting section, and see whether or not they describe a similar charging rule. (The rule is meant to avoid overheating the battery: lithium batteries can occasionally catch fire if they are severely overcharged or overheated.) I think this explains why some people have encountered charging problems and others have not: it depends on whether or not the unit is always in direct sunlight while you are driving. Some people use the friction mount and their Garmin sits on the console. Others drive later in the day or at night. - Nuvi - Portable Gps - Gps'

I was a little afraid that, for the price, this lock would be flimsy and poorly made. I was pleasantly surprised. I installed it myself. It fit right in the space where the old doorknob went, no drilling needed. Being programmable, you have to rely on the manual for instructions. Luckily this is one of the easiest electronic gadgets to set up I have come across. The manual is obviously written by someone for whom English is a second language, but he did a pretty good job. The instructions are JUST understandable. Still, I wish they would spend a few bucks and get a natural english speaker to re-write it. The lock is electronic and depends on batteries to power it, but it gives a specific warning beep when the batteries get low and you have 10 days to change them, standard aaa type. They also give you an emergency power supply you can plug in to the lock to operate it. You can put in up to 10 different codes. All in all I would say it is a great product for the money and could be installed by almost anyone with any mechanical talent at all, especially if you already have a standard type doorknob on your door. Keyless Electronic Digital Door Lock
I shopped around for an electronic door lock that didn't break the bank. Every other manufacturer was nearly double the cost of this lock, and given the fact that it doesn't get a lot of use, I opted for the cheaper variation. Man was I impressed when I opened the box. I thought I'd be getting a cheap feeling, sub-par quality lock that I may or may not have to modify to fit. I was wrong! The lock is incredibly durable, it has a very nice weight, feels great and works incredibly well. You can program a single master code & multiple user access codes that can easily be removed/reset if need be. The master code needs additional steps to be changed, involving disassembling the blank door knob and gaining access to the electronic assembly.
Bottom line is that I was weary of the quality, but once I received the door lock, I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
Thanks!
- Update - February 5, 2009. These things are awesome. Bought several around August of last year, and I really love these things. Have had no problems whatsoever. My only gripe is that I wish the whole keypad would light up at night when you push a button, but other than that it's a GREAT product! (I did lose my manual though, so if anyone has one or a copy of the programming info I'd love to get a copy)
I operate a small property management firm and have been looking for ways to increase security to storerooms and off-limits areas; all the while making sure that the door remained locked (we have since installed automatic door closers to complement this lock.
I didn't expect a whole lot from this product with its relatively low price, but I went out on a limb and ordered two--one for our tool room and one for the gardening storage shed. I've come to be friends with our locksmith--who happens to be a master locksmith with quite a bit of knowledge and is always frank with me. He too was skeptical when he looked at the lock, and had not seen one before, and told me that the push button dead bolts cost hundreds of dollars typically (which I knew from research).
He had several things to do around the complex, and to my surprise he told me that the locks were well made, and he was interested in finding out how to get hold of some. We've had no problems with the locks (we have three now, and I'm about to buy more). It's easy to change the codes, and helps protect valuable tools and supplies.
I'd recommend it for anyone in a similar situation. I'd have one on my front door if I didn't already have a Medeco M3 deadbolt installed in antique brass. As much as I'm in and out, it'd be nice to have the door constantly locked.
This is a substantially-built lock. Heavy. Solid -- surprisingly so. Easy to install and easy to program and the light up feature is excellent. The last variant of these digital combo locks I bought (different brand) did not work well below 20 degrees. I am really hoping this one does because everything about it seems great so far.
this is a great product and well worth the $70. very easy to install and it works like a charm. you can set different codes for different users and there is also an encryption tool! great lock! will buy more!
I bought this same lock several years ago, it worked great at first when I installed it, then I started to experience problems with it.
I found out that some of the wires inside became stripped from the normal everyday usage of the knob, I tried to fix it, it was a pain to get it apart from the inside, I managed to locate the stripped wire and corrected the issue, but at the end the lock did not work properly, (was not making the proper contact locking) I'm planning on just getting rid of it and purchasing one that does not require batteries. Like I said at first it work fine, but then the inside wires will fail. The construction is well made, it's just the inside wiring that's the problem.
I bought mine from eBay not Amazon, but regardless after a couple years I don't think you would be able to get a refund.
I still have the User Manual too.
I've been looking into a product like this for a long time now, and they usually start at about ~$130 - so needless to say that when I found one for so cheap (payment+shipping=$94) I was a little skeptical. I ordered it, waited about a week and a half to find out that USPS had lost my first item - I was furious. I contacted the company and ended up being embarrassed at how I acted. They were more than helpful and offered to send me an additional unit at no extra cost, which I really appreciate. Installation was crazy fast (1 Philips head screw driver), I was up and operational in about 10 minutes. Master code is all I need, but I did a quick user programming to see how easy it was - basically a trained monkey could do it! I HIGHLY recommend this item, and this seller!'

Home Improvement Emergency Preparedness - nailer, makita
Well, after reading all the reviews and checking them out in person at local suppliers, I bought the Makita AN611. Sweet!!!!It's about 1 pound lighter than the Bostitch, makes it easier to carry and use. It load easily and operating it is quite easy. I was especially impressed with the ability to adjust the depth setting of the nails without needing a tool. I'm working with cedar. I drove a few and make my adjustment and drove some more. No muss, no fuss.Love a tool that lives up to it's billing. Mine cost $350. at a local supplier. For that amount of money, when I'm done I can resell it for 50% and feel great. Makita AN611 1-1/4-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch Coil Siding Nailer
I needed a siding nailer for Hardiplank siding. After reading a few reviews I opted to try the Makita AN611. This nailer is absolutely the best engineered nailer I have come across. I own several Porter Cable, Bostitch, Dewalt and Bosch pneumatic nailers and staplers and each have their plus and minuses. The Makita has NO minuses I can find.
Canister loading is a snap, and the hinged head eliminated any need for disassembly of the head should it jamb (shouldn't be a problem for this tool).
Depth setting are plentifully (9 settings) and easily accessible.
Very convenient selector provides sequential or bounce fire. No changing of triggers or mechanical adjustments.
Exhaust adjustable 360 deg.
Rubber guard on housing to protect tool and eliminate scratching of surfaces.
Relatively light considering the quality.
Nice rubber grip and well balanced.
I have often wrestled with tools and surmise that the engineers that designed the tool never actually had to use it.
The folks at Makita have got this one right!
It's a bit pricy, but it is a specialty tool and other siding nailers are comparably priced. This one also comes with a case, another bonus...
So here's my story. I ordered the gun, it arrived in a timely fashion and without any damage. After running a few coils through it, I got to looking at the contact tip, nose, or whatever you want to call it. In the ad (from September 2006) it stated (and I quote):
"Technical Details
Non-slipping nose is the ideal shape for diagonal nailing
Non-marring nose adaptor prevents scratches"
The picture matched this description, showing a toothed contact nose. However, this is NOT what I got. Instead, the gun came with a round, TOOTHLESS steel nose; it did NOT come with a toothed nose (for sheating, toe-nailing, etc.), nor did it come with a rubber adaptor (for siding) as the pic and ad would lead you to believe.
Anyway, this was a problem for me as I intended to use the AN611 as a back-up sheathing gun as well as a siding gun. The round steel nose is far from ideal for nailing OSB or plywood, and is downright useless for toe-nailing.
After numerous calls to Amazon and Makita, I finally got the scoop. Apparently Makita discontinued the toothed nose version in Fall 2005 in favor of the rounded thing they sent me. (I guess Amazon had been selling pre-changeover inventory until I ordered mine...) However, they apprarently failed to notify Amazon of this fact, and did not even bother to update their own website with a proper pic. Worse yet, the Makita rep told me that the toothed nose piece (just the nose piece itself) has been discontinued as well, and that they only had two left. That is, two left ANYWHERE. Well, there is only ONE left now because I bought one of them (plus a rubber nose adaptor for the teeth). This cost like $35, which Amazon credited me for...
The new (toothed) nose piece arrived in a timely manner. Unfortunately, it turns out that you have to virtually dismantle the gun to swap the nose pieces. So that was a bit annoying, but I got it done without incident.
As for performance. I really like the gun. It has plenty of power for sheathing with 2-3/8" ring shank (0.099) as well as plenty of power for 2-1/2" smooth shank (0.099) into fiber cement siding. Depth of drive works very well. Select trigger works very well, the grip is comfortable, it is well-balanced, and light weight. The case is also nice, and I like the belt hook.
However, unless you plan on doing ONLY siding, I think you will be frustrated with the new round steel nose, and I think Makita has made a mistake by changing this feature - it needlessly reduces the flexibility of this otherwise terrific nail gun. So that brings me back to where I started, nice gun, BUT...
I spent a few days researching coil siding nailers. I needed a nailer that could do both cedar shingles as well as siding. After researching all of the guns, this one fell into a mid range price with excellent reviews. I bought the gun and it is extremely reliable and works great. It is lightweight, has perfect balance, and can be handled for hours. It took 5 minutes to make the depth adjustments on the material and the gun fired each and every nail perfectly. My only disappointment was that there were no local dealers. At first getting nails seemed a challenge. However, once you tell the local suppliers that type of nail to get, just about everyone stocks the nails. Another great choice for nails is the web, where I saved 35% ordering via the web.
I recently purchased the AN611 and I am blown away with what a quality siding gun this is. I am a contractor and have used the MAX siding nailer in the past. I thought the MAX nailer could never be beat. But I recently had my MAX stolen and replaced it with the Makita, because it was $50 cheaper. It is a wonderful gun. The Power is first class and depth of drive is great. It's lightweight. BEST IN IT'S CLASS!!!
I would never buy this tool as a sheathing nailer, as one other reviewer said he did. It is a SIDING GUN. It shoots the mini coil nails made just for siding, and in my area the code does not allow mini coil nails to be used for sheathing. But the Makita Framing coil nailer (different gun) would work awesome for that. I own the framing nailer as well and it is an incredible both sheathing and Framing gun.
Makita is 1st class for drivepower in a lightweight gun. - Nailer - Makita - Nailers - Siding Nailers'

Video Production - lens cap keeper, lens accessory
When I performed my weekly lens clean up last night, I found one of my lenses had scratches on the barrel and several letters in "Made in Japan" were gone (became "Made in J---n"). I was so angry because I have treated all my lenses so gentle and careful and also the scratched one happens to be my favorite lens! I later found that the reason of these scratches came from the lens cap leash I added several days ago. The metal piece on the leash was not clamped properly. The metal piece touched (and then scratched) the lens barrel when the cap was not caped on the lens and swinging under the lens barrel. I have to add a piece of Teflon tape to cover the metal piece for protection. It works fine after that piece of tape but damage is already there!
I inspected all 5 cap leashes I brought. Two of them (40%!) had clamp problem. So please check the cap leash first before your add it onto your lens. Sakar LCH-R Lens Cap Keeper
I've been using lens-leashes for the last 10 years now and I love them. I find them the most handy add-on when purchasing a new lens as it helps keep your lens-cap with the lens. Before this product, I'd be putting the cap in my pocket and it would either end up full of pocket lint or in my back pocket I'd sit on the darned thing and break them or they'd fall out of my pocket and go missing. This lens-leash saved the day and many times after.
I see some people don't like how it sticks to the lens-cap, saying it does not adhere well. My first thought is this "Did they clean the lens-cap before attaching the 'shoe' end of the leash?" "Did they put it on, then realize it was crooked and then re-apply it straight?" I've put mine on for years on each lens-cap and it has stayed put after all these years of use and sometimes accidental abuse (especially when children tug on them out of curiosity).
One thing I would recommend to do is to simply go to Home Depot. buy some of that double side foam tape found in their paint dept. They sell two kinds, a basic indoor only and an exterior grade foam tape. Opt for the exterior grade and I can guarantee you it won't come off without a whole lot strain and pain. ;)~ If my lens-leashes ever fall off, that'll be my solution, and again, you need to get the old gum off from the old foam-tape (use lighter fluid... it comes in a yellow plastic bottle with blue top. That works best for removing the sticky stuff and cleaning the plastic lens-cap so the new foam tape will adhere awesomely).
I love my lens-leash, I recommend them to ANY photo-fanatic of any age. :)
Cameras owned: Rebel XTi, 7D (both Canon)
I have two cameras and three lenses. Though this is a great product for the price, I think what I would have done and recommend all of you photography enthusiasts out there to do is THIS instead (it might cost more but I think the time saved will be worth it):
Buy a camera lens that has a leash attached. I saw them at Samy's ranging anywhere between $7-$12.
If you have several lenses like me and like to change them out according to what you feel is most effective for you that day, buying this leash will be a hassle. Because you'll want to change lenses and then you have to take the whole darn thing off.
If I had to do it again (and I think I might do this after I acquire more lenses), I would simply buy the lens covers WITH the leashes attached FOR EACH of my cameras. That way I don't have to detach the leash itself.
I would highly recommend NOT putting lens caps in your pocket, purse, bra (lol), etc. because the grease, lint, dust, etc. will get on your cap and therefore on your lens. WHY TAKE THE CHANCE???
And filter lens, everybody. That's the ticket. It's like protecting your eyes against the sun with sunglasses. Buy a cheapie UV lens and avoid the heartache and financial hardship that WILL come your way if you don't listen! - Lens Cap Keeper - Lens Accessories - Lens Cap Strap - Lens Accessory'

Precision Screwdriver - screwdriver set, mini screw bits
Completely non-magnetic, most of my screwdrivers tend to pick up magnetic tendencies over time, on purpose or not, these haven't.
As a professional I want my tools to reflect the fact I am a professional, these have that aspect covered.
I've used lots of other precision screw drivers over the years, I never could stand the common metal hex nut topped ones. The Craftsman models felt and looked nice, but the screws tended to sharpen the Phillips head screw drivers to an unusable point over time. I've found some gimmicky interchangeable bit screw drivers from Husky that where very nice, but I wanted to avoid gimmicks.
I've yet to find anything that tops these in every category. The ESD safe part is a nice bonus since I do try to take care of ESD issues when I'm working. Wiha 27390 Slotted And Phillips Screwdriver Set, Precision ESD Safe, 7 Piece
I've always used those cheap-o dollar store precision screwdriver sets up to now. When I broke the heads off my last set trying get a screw out of a cell phone, I figured it was time to buy some decent tools for this purpose. I regret waiting as long as I did. Once I used one of these Wiha's on the screw, it came right out without incident. The next time Amazon puts out a tool coupon I'll buy the complete Wiha ESD set. It's WELL worth the money.
Needed to open a laptop so i bought the esd version just to be safe
No stripped screws these are exact fit and no wear on the screw driver tips.
These are comfortable to use once you try these you wont go back.
I've used Wiha screwdrivers for several years, but wanted an ESD set for the new lab. They are very well made, good, HARD tips and reliable. Good assortment of sizes for small work on computers or models. I use them on hard drives, as I do data recovery and computer forensics. These are perfect for disassembling laptops and laptop hard drives.
Highly recommended.
I've purchased about 20 sets of these for our employees working in a computer lab over the last 4 years. They are great quality, and they do not strip screw heads like cheaper tools. I have a standard computer tool kit that I rarely use, because these are such good quality.
Highly recommend. - Mini Screw Bits - Screwdriver Set - Precision Screwdriver Set - Screwdriver'

Underwire Support - go2 bra, lingerie
I recently recieved my bra and couldn't wait to try it on. I have been a Victorias Secret girl for a long time but with a 34DD cup I seem to wear the straps down as they never have enough support. This bra is everything I have been missing. It is so supportive and the straps don't over stretch with the weight of my bust or cut into my shoulders. The band fits nice and snug without cutting into my skin. You can not see the bra lines under your clothes either. It is pretty, sexy, comfortable and affordable. What more could you ask for in a bra? I'd give it 6 stars if I could!!! "MYCHELLE" Go2 Bra by Lipo in a Box Taupe 36D
This bra is a fabulous everyday bra. It is so comfortable you forget you have it on. It makes you look good in your clothes, you can wear it with everything because it is seamless. VERY, very comfortable and pretty. LOVE this bra!
I needed to find a bra that had the following requirements
1) Very supportive
2) Comfortable
3) Stylish/Sexy
4) Affordable
This product met all of my expectations. I am very pleased as I am a picky customer - not only do I want value but I like a good price! Thanks Amazon for offering this item.
very comfortable. Stretchy soft cups. I ordered the Rachel and it fit and looked good but I could tell it might get uncomfortable because of the non-stretchy cups.
It's also pretty. But I have one complaint. Why do none of these bras come in nude? I would order 2 if it came in nude. I've been wearing a bra long enough to realize you only need nude and black. Crazy colors and too much lace bras never get worn (under clothes). But if you want to call this a Go 2 bra, you need nude. The taupe is better than ivory under a light shirt but under white? Youre out of luck!
Bottom Line: LOVE THIS BRA, DON'T LIKE THE COLOR CHOICES!
Fabric is great: double-layered, stretchy, fits like a glove. But the straps are poorly constructed: too thin, so they cut in over time, & not padded or soft. But the real problem is that the tip of the outer wires is not cushioned & presses through the underwire casing, so by the end of the day, it's digging in. If those two details were solved, this would be a great bra. Also, it does provide a round, slightly flattened, minimizing effect.
I love this bra. Ordered the first one from another site and, after wearing a couple of days, ordered a second one. Unfortunately, it was no longer being stocked so I was thrilled when I found it on Amazon. It has good coverage on the sides, is comfortable, is supportive, and looks sexy. Love, love, love it.
Expected a little more structure based on the description. This is definitely very comfortable; however, I should have ordered a cup size smaller. It seems to have a bit too much stretch to be supportive. I will use it for kicking around the house. - Go2 Bra - Bras - Lingerie - Go2 Bras'

Fitness Ball - fitness, ball chair
I had a shipping problem with my ball, and I also ended up with the wrong size. Max Fitness went the extra mile and met all of my needs with 100% integrity. They were pro-active and gracious.
I also love the ball. One qualification for those of you considering getting a ball. The size of the ball may depend on not only your height but what you are using it for. In my case, I'm 6' tall and I use the ball to do Core Exercises as taught by Gunnar Peterson and the 65 cm ball is definately too small for me. The 75 cm ball works for me, and I'm completely satisfied both with it's quality and the excellent service I received from Max Fitness in the process.
You can't go wrong with these folks. Max Fitness 75cm Exercise Ball with Foot Pump (Black)
I bought this item to use as a chair replacement, which means it likely gets used more often than if for exercise. I bought this items a month ago and have used it almost daily since. To date I have not had to reinflate the ball and it has been sturdy and comfortable. The enclosed pump didn't inspire a lot of confidence but actually worked just fine, and given the fact that it may not require a lot of use, should be suitable for the life of the ball.
I like this ball now that I have it set up- it's great for stretching and even as a chair. However, when it arrived it had an oily residue all over it accompanied by a terrible chemical smell- maybe I'm just oversensitive to these things, but it was really overpowering. I washed it as best I could, and the smell has faded over time, but avoid this product if you have any sensitivity to smells or chemical.s
The rubber in this exercise ball is much thicker than others I've purchased, so I can see why it's listed as anti-burst. The included pump was helpful as well. As indicated in the instructions, the ball didn't seem to blow up that much initially, but after letting it sit overnight, I was able to add more air. So far I'm very pleased with it.
I used a standing bicycle pump to pump up the balls -- still took about 15 minutes per ball. I also sprayed them down with soap and put them in the shower for 10 minutes in an attempt to remove the plastic smell, which worked. I let them hang out for a day at 3/4 full and then pumped more air into them to reach 75 cm. I alternate between the ball and my chair at my desk which works well. It took a little tweaking to get it to the right height.
This thing holds up to my weight which is 318lbs w/o flinching. I lift weights on it, so its really holding a lot more than that. It is quite strong. The pump they give you with it though makes it take a LONG time and a lot of energy to fill up, its nice if you have your own pump.
I've been using this ball as a computer chair since it arrived a few days ago. Really feeling it from my abs down to the tips of my toes.
Two not so great things about the ball are (1) the material it's made of bonds to paint if it touches a painted surface for a few hours and (2) it is extremely difficult to remove the air plug when you need/want to adjust the air pressure. The latter especially is a design flaw I hope the company addresses.
Just received this a couple of days ago. I did not notice an odor as other reviews mentioned. The ball is made well and I'm not worried about it bursting. It is hard to get the plug out to refill. The pump works too.
I've ordered and returned 2 other stability balls, but I'm keeping this one.
I was very pleased overall with the ball I received, as it was easy to inflate with the included pump, surprisingly sturdy, and came as advertised.
However, as a few other users have noted, the ball has a VERY strong chemical smell after it's been taken out of its packaging. I closed it up in another room with the windows open for a couple days, then washed the whole inflated ball in the shower with dishwashing liquid, and those two steps reduced the smell by about 90%. Hopefully in time it will disappear completely -- I wouldn't have used the ball at all if the smell hadn't gotten better gradually. It makes me wonder what kind of chemicals the thing is outgassing and if they're safe. MaxFitness should either deal with this issue by de-scenting or washing the balls before they're shipped, or by addressing the issue in their instructions.
Other than the smell, the ball has been great and everything I hoped for. - Stability Ball - Ball Chair - Exercise - Fitness'

Fist Wrap
Lets start off with the Good and we'll go from there.
The Good:
Great Looking Product
Light Weight
Really protects your Hands very well
The Bad:
THE WRIST STRAPS BROKE AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF HEAVY USE.
The Problem is that when you box you want to have your wrist wrapped fairly tight and whoever designed these didn't take that into consideration. There is a single stitch that holds the strap to the the wrap so after you wrap it a few times they will start to come a part. I REALLY liked these to so its a shame but hey it is what it is. I will have to find some more now. Ringside Quick Handwraps
These wraps are decent the for the price. They don't offer the best wrist support during bag training. They are best for recreational boxers with light bag work. I would recommend using regular hand wraps for regular use.'
