Defective - 1080p lcd hdtv, lcd

I've owned this television for about a month now, and after you set it up and customize it to your viewing preference (it has a lot of options to tinker with) it's quite amazing. The picture is brilliant, vivid, sharp, and blacks are nice and dark. The smooth motion effect takes some getting used to because at times it may make a movie or show look like it's in fast forward when the camera is panning- I suggest keeping it on the "Medium" setting to counter this. The speakers are excellent, clear and loud. Vizio has really stepped it up with this t.v. VIZIO E470VL 47-Inch 120 Hz 1080p LCD HDTV, Black

Purchased this at CostCo. I wasn't expecting great things because of the relatively low price but the picture quality is amazing, better than the other 3 LCDs in our home. The HD picture is so clear that it took getting use to because the images seemed so real. It has an ambient light sensor which dims the screen light in dark and brightens it in daylight. I found it gets too dark at night for my liking. To disable the ambient sensor follow this sequence on the remote (Menu - Picture - More - Advanced Picture - Ambinet Light Sensor - off). Good luck.

Recently purchased at Sam's Club for $748. TV was easy to set up and has lots of custom adjustments. Image quality is excellent, built in Sound is OK. Has a built in ambient Light sensor that dims brightness of screen automatically depending on room lighting, but I prefer an always bright screen, so turned the Light Sensor off. Very happy with this purchase, and if you are looking for a 47 inch flat screen LCD you have to take a look at this unit, its a great value !

Purchased the TV yesterday, so I have not yet experimented with all of the features, and can't speak to the quality or longevity of HDMI, etc. yet.

I experienced the same issue as a prior reviewer with IR interference. I use a Logitech Harmony remote to control the TV, Dish Network satellite receiver, and a Yamaha AV receiver. Replacing the prior TV with the Vizio E470VL reduced the functionality of all of my other IR remotes significantly. They all still worked, but you had to aim the remote directly at the device and be very deliberate in pressing the buttons. With the TV turned off, or even covered with a blanket, the other IR remotes worked normally.

In googling, I discovered this isn't an uncommon issue, and not an issue limited to this manufacturer or model. Lots of televisions emit IR that can interfere with remote controls. I also stumbled on a resolution. Turning off the Ambient Light Sensor seems to all but eliminate the problem. All my remotes work fine now!

I hooked up a USB card reader to the USB port to view pictures on an SD card from a camera. It worked great, and the detail and clarity is amazing. I also hooked up a laptop via the VGA port and got a beautiful 1920 x 1080 display. Makes me want two of these for my desk, but I'd need a significantly larger desk..

I was really surprised to only see a few reviews for this television. I read the reviews for this TV on Amazon.com, [...], and a few others that I cannot recall names for at the moment. I am the type of consumer that enjoys doing the homework before going out to purchase a new electronic device. I want the best balance for quality and value.

I purchased my E470VL from Costco (8/29/10) for $[...] ( -$[...] instant rebate), only $[...]! Including a box a frozen pizza's the total was under $750 with tax.

Upon opening the box and assembling the stand, everything went together nicely. They put that nice clear protectors all of the TV to protect is from scratches. I just moved into a new place so I cannot testify to using the HDMI or VGA ports. I do however have digital cable with some HD channels and I have to say that the picture and sound from this TV are fantastic if you are not on a PRO A/V level. Any average TV/Gamer/Movie watcher would be really happy with this television.

There are lots of features to tweak and adjust if needed, which is nice. The one thing I didn't like was the way certain channels came up on the screen some in normal, others in full screen, etc. I have a feeling this was the broadcasting and not the television though.

I would give this TV a true 4.5/5 stars due to the quality/cost value that is achieved from this great unit.

PROS:

47" is big.... for my tiny living room.

120Hz.... not 240 but much cheaper

true 1080P =)

plenty of ports/connections on the rear

great picture quality!

lots of menu features

sound great for STOCK TV

CONS:

Actual TV buttons (input, power, volume, etc) on side of TV are kind of cheesy (look cheap)

The USB does not play video =(

No Internet Apps.... As of 8/10 they still cost a bit more than $700...

I say go for it at this time, TV is still a great value for the cost. Pay less and save now, then wait for the new technology to settle in cost!

Cheers!

I just got my TV a month ago on black Friday, and absolutely love it, what really took me by surprise is the sound quality, sometimes I get a feeling of surround sound just from the TV. The only drawback was what seems to be the most common problem with the ambient sensor, i.e. the picture was dark and my remotes were sluggish. I have turned it off (thanks to reading these reviews) and now everything works fantastic! Great TV

I bought this TV at a local Wal-Mart. It's got a great picture and decent sound. Unfortunately, after a week, all the HDMI ports were dead! So I returned it and got an identical model. Worked fine for a while, but after about another week, HDMI port #2 died. Called Vizio, they tried to trouble shoot it, but did not succeed. They told me they were going to send me a replacement. A couple days later, I get a call from Vizio. They said they didn't have that TV in stock and didn't have anything comparable to swap it out for. They told me they would issue a refund. A freight company would come to my house, pack up the TV, and I'd get a refund within 3 weeks! I said forget it. Took it back to Wal-Mart, and got a Samsung 46" which works like a dream. Sorry Vizio, you lost me.

So this is my cautionary tale. While I think Vizio is a good company, I would stay far away from this model. - 1080p Lcd Hdtv - 1080p - 120hz - Lcd'

Bluetooth - motorola, razr

I also called to verify if the phone was the U.S. version after reading the review that stated it came with a European charger. The customer service person at Amazon assured me it came with a U.S. charger. However, when I received the phone, it came with the European charger. The phone is also European, words are not spelled in the American way and the phone displays military time. This is not a big deal to me, but I would have preferred a U.S. phone. I ordered a new charger and the phone works great. This is also the first bad experience I've ever had with Amazon. Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Camera, and Video Player--U.S. Version with Warranty (Blue)

Due to another reviewer stating they had received a European model, I called in first to verify that this was the US version and was assured that it was. However, when it arrived, it contained a European charger. The scary part was that the Motorola sticker on the box actually stated "euro simple pkg". You'd think that this would have caught someone's attention.

In addition, after working with both the phone specialists (plural) and customer support, Amazon was reluctant to return my money for these phones. Their site states that cell phones are only eligible for replacement and a refund option is not provided. The phone specialists apologized and emailed me a return RMA and UPS sticker. I promptly returned the phones, both the original and the replacement. I received email confirmation of receipt of both returns. Both emails, however, stated that no monies would be refunded due to replacements sent. There was no second replacement/third phone involved. They now have the phones and were stating it would be 3 to 4 weeks for the refund to be researched. Finally, after contacting a supervisor, my refund was processed.

On the upside, I placed another order for the silver razr v3 and it was the correct version. It arrived promptly and worked great out of the box.

Word to the wise!

Got the phone. The phone seems okay but I couldn't charge the battery to find out. The charger has European plugs and won't work without adapter. No way for Amazon to send new charger so you have to buy one or wait weeks for refund or new phone. This is the first negative review I have ever posted for Amazon product.

I have just received it, and I am very upset. Half of the front and half of the back are Blue, the bottom part of the front and the bottom part of the back are VIOLET. Probably this has been assembled using parts of 2 different phones. Very very upsetting, and awfully looking.

Phone was supposedly new. Got no more than a few bars of signal strength out of the box, then with in a week or two, quit working completely. No bars, could not receive or make call. Seller did not responde to email. Made no acknowledgement whatsoever. Save yourself the grief and money and shop else where!

I ordered this as a replacement and haven't been disappointed. Phone was quickly shipped amd arrived in great condition. Set-up was very simple; install battery (it charged quickly), inserted SIM, turn phone on and it worked perfectly.

I received a US phone, as promised. BUT, it is not new, as promised. It is several years older than the current model. It has the AT&T logo on the outside and Cingular software on the inside. My guess is that it a refurb.

I wanted a RAZR V3 because I like them. I have two before this one. This phone is older than either of the phones that I had. I wanted an unlocked phone to take with me to Europe.

Amazon sold this phone from their own inventory. It was not sold by an outside supplier. Shame, Amazon.

BEWARE

Sent a used phone that had a different color back on it where the battery is located. Also had logo's on the screen page and an older charger. Was not a new phone. This was the second phone we received as the first one was an AT&T phone and had no ring tones to chose from. The first exchange went well but when shipped a second rate phone the 2nd time we were mad and very frustrated. The phone won't hold a battery charge and nothing but problems. - Cell Phone - Razr - Razr V3 - Motorola'

Classic Animation - classic animation, snow white

I was extremely excited to receive this DVD.... Upon opening it, one gets the feeling that it is truly a special edition. The packaging is very nice: the DVD box is sturdy with two openings for each disk. The pamphlet inside the DVD is gorgeously produced and very helpful. My first impression is that Disney has spent much time making this DVD user-friendly. There is an abundance of directions and drawings showing you what is on the disk and how to get there. Since there are two disks and a KINGDOM of information to pour through, these directions are very welcome (even to this seasoned DVD-viewer!)Disney pulls out some familiar faces to make the experience as warm as possible: Disney himself appears in various footage; Angela Lansbury narrates the documentary and provides a "tour" of the disks; Michael Eisner shows up; and Barbra Streisand sings a specially recorded version of "Some Day My Prince Will Come".SNOW WHITE, the movie, looks gorgeous and, although old fashioned, is quite wonderful. SNOW WHITE, the double-disk, is a lot of information to wade through. I am amazed at the amount of behind-the-scenes film that exists! Disney must have suspected that he was creating a classic - he filmed every aspect of it! I especially enjoy the HALL OF ART section. There are 3 halls of various story art (i.e. "The cottage"; "The castle"; "the Forest"; etc.) Although initially I found it hard to move from hall to hall, I eventually figured it out. The animated HALLS are extraordinary and the art that "hangs" there is incredible -- various renderings and attempts at bringing the story and locales of SNOW WHITE alive. It's even more incredible that Disney Co. held on to these papers for all these years.Well, in case you can't tell, I highly recommend the special SNOW WHITE disks. You will spend days looking at everything that is included -- or you can opt to spend an hour and a half viewing the original, gorgeous film that started the Disney empire.... Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Three-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo + BD Live w/ Blu-ray packaging)

The Blu-ray looks fantastic. For this classic film from 1937 to look so vibrant, so spectacular, so beautiful 72 years later is a testament towards Disney's restoration and remastering. The picture quality is absolutely pristine. The new lossless 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio is magnificent. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition" is highly recommended!

For Walt Disney, seeing a play back in 1916 of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" based on the fairty tale by the Brothers Grimm definitely made the producer to attempt something that has never been done before and that is to create a full-length color animated film.

Known for their "Silly Symphony" animated shorts, the 1937 animated film definitely silenced anyone who thought that Disney was not able to pull off a full-length animated feature. Even Walt Disney's wife thought that no one would want to watch a film that starred dwarfs but needless to say, the film that was called "Disney's Folly" by naysayers would receive critical praise and even demand by fans for a sequel. The film would be not only be a classic animated film which was honored by the American Film Institute as the "Greatest Animation of All Time". Even today, adjusted by inflation, the film is considered one of the top 10 money making films in America of all time.

In 2001, when the "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" was released on DVD, the DVD was one of the films that were known for its innovation, winning a "Video Premiere Award" for "Best Overall New Extra Features" and nominated for "Best DVD Menu Design" and "Best New, Enhanced or Reconstructed Movie Scenes".

But now in 2009, the film makes its High Definition entry on Blu-ray with 1080p High Definition picture quality and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio sound. Also, a Disney Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack (two Blu-ray discs and a DVD version of the film) which comes out on October 6, seven weeks before its Deluxe Two-Disc Classic standard definition DVD which will be released on Nov. 24th. It's also important to note that a limited edition collector's set will also be available

VIDEO & AUDIO:

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" gets its 1080p High Definition transfer and its absolutely beautiful. Viewers can choose to watch the film in its original 4:3 (1:33:1) format and watch it with DisneyView featuring Tony Bluth's artwork on the side (for those who have widescreen televisions). According to the guide included with this release, restoration experts took full advantage of the newest breakthroughs of digital imaging technologies to produce this classic. The process took nearly a year of cleanup and scanning over 350,000 frames of the original 75-year-old negative. And the digital artists then removed dust and scratches from the cels.

The picture quality is absolutely beautiful for a film that is 72-years old. The restoration and remastering has removed all dust and scratches. I don't think I've seen any blemishes on video. The picture quality is absolutely beautiful as art backgrounds just look absolutely divine. I don't think I have realized how exquisite the backgrounds were, especially the amount of emotion that went into the animation. Picture quality for "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition" is definitely magnificent and I look forward to seeing Disney continue this trend of remastering their classic animated films. As for DisneyView, similar to "Pinocchio", Toby Bluth's painted borders that are on the sides of the animation matches the animation quite fine and was definitely my preference over standard black bars.

As for the accompanying DVD, the DVD is featured in an aspect ratio of 1:33:1.

Audio is presented in English 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio (48 kHz/24-bit), the original mono presentation and also French and Spanish 5.1 DEHT restored original theatrical soundtrack. The film is dialogue and music driven with the soundtrack being front and center channel driven. Music is also featured during the surround and rear surround channels as well. Dialogue and music is crystal clear and understandable. During the more emotional sequences, such as Snow White running away from home in the forest, definitely makes the room quite immersive, albeit a short while but overall, a good use of utilizing the music of Snow White through all channels. There are other parts that really come through on all channels such as a shriek by Snow White coming clear from the rear surrounds which was quite nice (and surprising). Overall, a solid lossless audio soundtrack for a 72-year old animated film.

As for the audio of the accompanying DVD, the DVD comes with an English, French and Spanish 5.1 DEHT soundtrack.

Subtitles are provided in English SDH, French and Spanish.

JUDGMENT CALL:

When the first "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" Platinum Edition DVD was released back in 2001, I felt that the DVD set the bar of the amount of special features and how innovative a DVD can be through seamless branching technology. Needless to say, the DVD won several awards for its technology and so, when the announcement came that "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" will receive a Diamond Edition Blu-ray disc release, I was curious to see how Disney could top themselves because that release was already phenomenal.

I have since gone through the Blu-ray release and all I can say is...Wow!

Disney has not only topped the Platinum Edition release, they have set the bar once again for a Blu-ray release and the amount of content that can be included on a Blu-ray and let alone, how awesome they were able to digitally restore the classic 1937 film.

There was no doubt in my mind that Disney would give their first animated feature on Blu-ray the best treatment as possible and as this release is a celebration of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", it's also a celebration of the talent behind the film. Those who were involved with Hyperion Studios that created the "Silly Symphonies" animated shorts back in the early 1930's and using the technology at that time and building it, in order to create their first full feature animated masterpiece.

In fact, not only do we get audio of those who worked on the film but we also are treated with those classic animated shorts such as "Babes in the Woods", "The Skeleton Dance", "Music Land", "Goddess of Spring", "Playful Pluto", "The Old Mill", "Steamboat Willie" and more. And to make things even more impressive, these shorts are featured in HD (not cleaned up but still much better than their DVD counterparts). This Blu-ray release manages to capture the various process of the film from creating the story, the music, the art, the backgrounds, the layout, the animation, the live action references, decisions at the sweatbox meetings, ink and paint and how women were involved in the animated process at the time, the camera department, soundstage, etc.

So much is included on both Blu-ray discs in terms of special features, so much went into restoring this film, that this release is one, if not the top video releases of all time. I have no doubt in my mind that probably ten years from now, this Blu-ray will be highly revered for its content.

I know that many people own the 2001 Platinum DVD Edition of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and are wondering if it's worth the double dip and the answer is YES! There is just so much included on the Diamond Edition, way more than the 2001 Platinum Edition. Also, if you are now wanting these classic Disney films in High Definition, its definitely worth the move to see this classic film in High Definiton. But I must say that you should not toss away your 2001 DVD edition because there are video clips such as the "Excerpt from The Story of Silly Symphony", "Excerpt from Tricks of Our Trade", "Camera Tests", "Abandoned Concepts", vintage audio (radio shows and spots are not included) and several songs and deleted scenes which are not included on this Diamond Edition release.

So, overall it's a no-brainer that "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition" is definitely worth it. For High Definition fans, the film looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous on Blu-ray. And as mentioned, the sheer amount of content included in this release is absolutely incredible.

I really don't have any negatives but me being nitpicky that it would have been nice to have certain special features such as the vintage radio/audio content , a few deleted scenes, songs and video clip excerpts from the 2001 Platinum Edition DVD included on the Diamond Edition. And personally, for me that is the only thing that prevents me from calling this release absolute perfection. There was one other thing and that is my Blu-ray discs came in a black DVD case, not the standard blue casing. I was told that there will be two releases (in different casing, not inc. the limited edition) with one in a blue Blu-ray case and another using black DVD casing in order to educate those new to Blu-ray.

I do think that Diamond Edition and the Platinum Edition are quite different in terms of presentation of special features and the goals were quite different of what kind of special features would be presented. With the Platinum Edition, its solely focused on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and in the Diamond Edition, there is more focus on giving the viewer the history of Walt Disney and the animators of how they got from Silly Symphonies to using their skills and technology in creating the first animated feature film. So, as I have said earlier in my review, this release is more or less, a celebration of those who worked on the film and giving recognition to those animators and staff members who took part in that film and the work that they did earlier, that became instrumental in creating Snow White.

So, overall...the Diamond Edition is just incredible when it comes to the actual digital restoration of this classic film and a release that is absolutely packed with special features. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition" is a solid release that raises the bar of what Disney is capable of in terms of content in a home video release. This is truly a magnificent release and is highly recommended! - Snow White - Classic Animation - Animation - Disney'

Dell Replacement Ac Adapter - dell replacement ac adapter, notebook power adapters

The charger that came with my laptop became very corroded right where it connects, and my laptop wouldn't charge. My battery power was at 2% and I had to sit near an outlet to use my computer; if the charger fell out the computer would instantly die. So I started looking for a replacement.

I was a bit nervous about this charger working on my Dell 1501 when it claimed to work on 26 different models, but it matched the specs of my current charger--65W, 19.5V--and the price was hard to beat. On the Dell website they wanted $80 for a replacement charger, one that was only 3 feet long! So I gave this a try. It looks a bit different from my old charger, but it works, and my laptop is charging as we speak, for the first time in a month. Seller SIB shipped it quite fast; it arrived on the third day after ordering, and I only paid for standard shipping.

We'll see if I have any long term issues, but at this point it looks like I got a better charger (about seven feet long instead of three) at just over a quarter of the price I would have paid by going through Dell for an "official" replacement.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 11-23-09: Bear in mind that extra parts like the charger are sometimes included in your computer's service warranty, if you purchased one. It turns out that my warranty did include the charger, so I really didn't have to buy this charger at all. And since I threw out my old Dell charger when I bought this non-Dell one, I don't have it anymore to exchange for a new Dell one! NEW Laptop/Notebook AC Adapter/Battery Charger Power Supply Cord compatible with Dell Inspiron 1150 1420 1501 1505 1520 1521 1525 1526 6000 6000D 6400 8500 8600

This item arrived Friday 6/12/09 and as soon as it arrived I tried it on my Inspiron 1505 and my son's 1501 and it did not charge either. I contacted these people on Friday and got one response that said they would gladly exchange or fully refund the product, but they need more information to make sure it wasn't a technical issue. I responded back and gave them all of the information they requested and here it is 2 days later and I have not gotten any response at all. At first I was willing to exchange, but now I don't want to deal with people that take your money and leave you hanging. I needed to get this issue resolved as soon as possible as my son is leaving out of town and will need to take our only working adapter.

So please beware if you buy this product it may not work and they will take their time responding to you!!!

Within seconds of using for the first time, it caused the Dell 1525 laptop to smoke and pop. Technician said the adapter had wrong polarity. The refund does not cover the damages...not by a long shot. Everyone is pointing fingers so far. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY BUYING FROM THIS COMPANY EVER!!! My daughters brand new graduation gift is ruined.

I totally understand the favorable reviews...I agreed when I first used two of these Dell laptop power adapters...they are almost identical to the power adpaters we got when we bought our Dell laptops (so, no--they're not lightweight or built for ultra heavy use nor do they span great distances...they're basically the same weight, size and length of the Dell adapters). But there's a reason they're $80 less than any other adapter--the product quality is awful. It's now been two months of moderate use. The first one died a month ago, and in a disturbing way...I plugged it into the wall and the cord that leads from the wall to the adapter actually shorted and started a fire. No lie...an actual fire. I blew it out right away, but after that I didn't trust the other one to be out of my sight while in use. But it worked, so I stuck with it. Then last night, I pulled the wall plug out and one of the two flat prongs stayed in my wall socket. Seriously? I didn't even notice it at first. Can you say electrocution hazard? I knew you could. Maybe these are rare cases of failed quality, but that's enough for me to say you're taking a chance probably not worth taking if you buy this product. All those who gave this product such a great review should provide a followup rating after six months of use--I'm guessing many of those 4-star and 5-star reviews would vanish.

I always depend on owner reviews with an item like this as you will find some are junk and some are just fine... Many reviews for this item said it worked just fine and it does for us also.

Seems to be a wide variety of quality out there these days.

The one we bought charges the battery pack and runs the Dell Inspiron 1501 without problem.

THIS notebook has the optional extended capacity battery pack from Dell also.

Will this replacement power adapter last as long as the original Dell AC adapter? Won't know until it quits, but will report back when it does to let everyone know. Although the original Dell that came with the notebook didn't last very long IMO, around two years I guess.

Everything breaks sooner or later, its value depends on what you paid and how long it worked, at this price, even a year would be ahead of the original Dell unit.

Maybe even 6 months would be good, going by the price of the replacement direct from Dell.

We shall see how it goes, but I've already ordered a second one to use at the office, at these prices might as well not carry an AC adapter back and forth IMO.

All volts, watts & amps on the label matched the original unit, computer side plug matched and fit well and has the positive on the center post.

Note that SOME electronics use the reverse on the DC side (notebook end) and have the positive pole on the outside, so be sure you are ordering the right one on the computer end. Reversed polarity is a sure way to blow more than the new AC adapter out.

It does not have the rubber belt to hold cord around adapter like Dell, but I think that is bad idea on the original adapter as it bends the DC side connection too hard, this replacement adapter also has a third wire grounded AC line unlike the Dell unit which is always good.

Be careful which one you order through Amazon, there are several 3rd party suppliers and not all of them give the same details but still use the same photo. The one from "Super Deal" lists the input/output numbers and that it fit my notebook, some don't... some have BAD reviews, this one has pretty good reviews and they all look the same at first sight, read the details and specs first

Cord length is 18 inches less than Dell unit.

Both of the replacements have a total cord length of 92 inches not counting the adapter box, 46 inches of cord on both AC and DC sides.

Original Dell has total cord length of 110 inches not counting the adapter box, 36 inches on the AC side and 74 inches on the AC side. Not really a problem as I plug them into a power strip that makes up for this and has it's own circuit breaker.

Power plug on the DC end (computer end);

Dell unit measures 9/32" outside diameter with 7/32" inside diameter (negative pole)

THIS replacement measures 9/32" outside diameter with 7/32" inside diameter (negative pole) and does not fall out.

It would seem that Dell uses two sizes of plug that goes into the computer, if you get the smaller size and needed the larger it will keep falling out as many have had happen.

Please NOTE, I'm talking about using this on a two year old Dell Inspiron 1501, they might have changed the plug size needed on other notebook models AND might even change sizes within the same model over time. Be sure to check the size of yours and IF possible the size of the replacement you are going to order.

"Super Deal" page on Amazon also lists a 12 month warranty... good/bad hard to say, but it is given.

No doubt price of warranty shipping each way would buy a new unit outright anyway.

My order was filled by "Super Deal" and they got the order out very fast and was delivered ahead of time given.

I've seen some reviews that just sound like horrible results and have to wonder if some of these people had other things, like their battery packs go bad without knowing it and tried to fix the situation with this adapter only to find out it gets hot and quits trying to power through a shorted battery pack that was the real problem in the first place.

Of course, BOTH could be bad at the same time so just be sure this is the whole fix for your power/charging problem first.

One big item to consider is something I found while searching the problem on the Internet;

Some Dell notebooks are programmed to detect when a non-Dell power adapter is used, and will restrict the ability of third-party adapters to charge the battery but still supply power to keep it running. There may very well be various combinations of trouble if Dell has tried to defeat owners when they try to bypass Dells high prices.

Can be the same with replacement battery packs also, Dell uses "Smart" packs that have their own electronics in them in order to try and keep all sales in house. Mixed results from people who try to buy and use outside sources.

Try not to drop your adapter, that COULD also lead to some problems you are reading in many reviews... knock out one little component and you stop electrical output.

Keep your power adapter as cool as you can. Do not pile things on top of it, or let it slip under furniture etc. Also, realize that if you have it on a rug or carpet, it can not cool as well as it would on the desk or bare floor.

Do know though that even the expensive power adapters can and will get hot to the touch when they are working to full output, so some of the cheaper made units with lower end materials used for the case and cords could get too hot and fail. If it's the cable or plug, it will short out after it melts enough to let the wires make contact with each other.

I can only wonder how many reported problems are because of cord/wire failures rather than the power converter itself. Would be interesting to know how many of the problem units always get their cords wrapped around them for transport or storage. I for one do not wrap the cords as that can weaken them where they attach to the unit.

Too bad that reviewers don't always say which seller they bought from when they say "junk" or "great item" at least there would be a chance to weed out the worst units from same suppliers and come up with some kind of list of best place and unit to buy.

If you are worried, you could try one in the next higher priced adapter/chargers which is about three to four times this price... but still much less than OEM from the notebook Mfg.

For example;OEM Dell Ac Adapter Laptop Charger for Dell INSPIRON ,Dell XPS ,Dell Studio, Dell Latitude ,Dell Vostro, P/N PA-10 PA10 90w 90 watt Genuine/Original/OEM Portable Charger for Laptop Notebook Computer Battery Charger Power Supply Cord Plug

After that, you can still step up to a more expensive universal adapter like the one from Targus for example;Targus Premium Laptop Charger (AC/DC) APM69US (Piano Black)

Update 8/27/2010

Our two units are still working just fine and we have had no problems at all. Coming up on the next time period where some have had failures so will be watching for trouble and will report any here when it happens. - Laptop Charger - Notebook Power Adapters - Laptop Power Adapters - Dell Replacement Ac Adapter'

Digital Camera - samsung, micro four thirds

I did a wide range of test shots recently and was quite impressed, though I found the sensor to be quite noisy. For this reason, I see no advantage over the emerging Micro four-thirds format, which I can see having greater staying power than this camera with its mostly proprietary lenses. The included lens in this kit, however, is quite versatile.

The real problem is if you want to rely on this camera for video as well. In ideal conditions, the video looks quite good. Taking advantage of the large sensor and selection of lenses should put you ahead of most consumer grade camcorders. There are very few controls, though. There are also audio sync problems and file clipping issues that are not addressed in the firmware update at this time. This has been a deal-breaker for me as I wanted to eliminate the camcorder. Were it not for this, I'd rate it 4 stars and would've kept the camera. Samsung NX10 - Digital camera - prosumer - 14.6 Mpix - With 18-55mm Lens - supported memory: SD, SDHC - black

I purchased this camera a couole weeks ago along with a 50-200MM zoom.

The camera feels great ( i have large hands), is easy to use, and the menu system works well.

Pictures in automatic (smart) mode are sharp, although in lower light conditions it will tend to lower the shutter speed before increasing iso.

Be sure to update the latest firmware available from samsung website.

Some settings in menu are only available for particular shooting conditions, for example if you want to put it in raw mode, then be sure to set the dial to Apature first. In a way this makes sense because raw is only available when not using the smart mode, such as apature priority, but it can be an intial stumbling block when first setting the camera up - once you understand this premise then the rest is very smooth sailing.

I have not tried video yet, however from what i have read, like many cameras with video built in, the quality is excelent when camera movement is not needed, but falls apart for action shots in the artifacts introduced. Also there is no external microphone jack so sound quality will be sub-par. If video is important, then the panasonic G series would be a better choice, but better yet would be a dedicated video camera.

The senseor is 50% large in size than the panasonic g-series with 20% additional pixels. What that means is that there is 30% more area of the on each pixel for bringing in light, and thus more headroom for improvement. I am sure over the months Samsung will tweak their alogrithms to take better advantage of this.

On time is excelent, as well as processing time; of course raw is going to take a bit longer.

Be sure to get yourself a good quality card for the camera.

I can carry the camera with the 18 -55 kit lens and the 50-200 zoom (300mm film equivilant) in a zeikos bag with only a 9 inch main compartment -that is the reason for getting a camera like this. It is not a studio replacement, but not intendended to be - for everything else it is fun and far better than a point and shoot if you know how to use it.

I was previously a user of DSLR and i got bored of the size of the DSLR camera after using it for some time. Then i found out from my friend that Samsung actually produces a camera called NX-10 which has exactly the same sensor size for DX type DSLR camera.

It just took me less than 30 minutes at the shop to decide that this is the right camera for me and let me explain why. Like i said, first of all, i really like the size of this camera, it's not as small as some of the compact point and shoot camera, but it's not as big as the DSLR either. That makes it very easy to tug this small camera into a normal bag without ever needing to carry another separate bag just for DSLR. And next, besides the size, this camera can actually produce pretty good pictures! Yes! with available light at the shop, i took a couple of pics and they all look pretty sharp and amazing! By the way, the unit i tested was using the 35mm f2 pancake lens, i am not sure how the performance will be using the normal kit lens but using the supplied 35mm f2 pancake lens, this camera can really produce pretty neat images! So i am not really going to talk a lot more about other stuff because i think these two main points should be the real reason why you should get this camera, great performance at small size, you won't even feel burden with carrying it around unlike the big chunky DSLR camera.

Now, on the negative side, the HD video claimed by the camera, uhmm...well the performance isn't really that great. There's no AF on the video so most of the time, when my subject move either nearer or further away from me, the video gets kinda blur. And the other cons i can think about is the lack of proper flash like what we get from DSLR. I mean you don't have flash commander and you can't get separate flash which can perform tricks such as ceiling bounce flash etc. So what you get is pretty much shooting the flash right on the subject of your pic. The AF speed is not as fast as dSLR but i think it's still usable. And oh yeah, the low light performance is not really that great either, it's acceptable, but beyond iso800, it ain't that good anymore.

Basically, i think this camera is really like a direct replacement for the entry level dSLR and i bet the performance is on par with older DSLR such as nikon d40 and nikon d60. In fact the ISO perforomance should be on par with nikon d80 level. So you can roughly expect what you should be getting from this camera.

I don't think this camera can totally replace DSLR but yes, at times it feels great to be able to go for a tour and enjoy your holiday without having the need to lug around a big camera when you don't really need it, and yet it produces pretty great images. So come to think of it again, i think this shall be a great complement to your DSLR system. - Digital Camera - Samsung - Micro Four Thirds - Panasonic'

Cd Wallet - cd case, cd storage

There's not much to say about CD/DVD cases, as they are generally similar to eachother. This one turns out to be a special one for me since its outer shell is rigid, yet very light. This is a great case at a great price. It holds about 24 CDs or DVDs. I'd recommend it. EVW-24 EVA Molded 24 Capacity CD/DVD Case (Black)

I use it to store my kids DVDs on my car. I recommend it if you don't intend to store too many discs.

Pros:

- hard cover, so it protects well the DVDs

- slim design, thinner than other models I've seen

Cons:

- only 24 discs capacity

I got this little case to hold all of my exercise dvds. I was on a mission to organize all of my dvds, and this one was the perfect size for the amount of Walk Away the Pounds and other exercise dvds that I have. Plus it's blue which is my favorite color! lol

i bought it for my girldfriend because she wanted a hard case.

and actually the EVW-72 EVA Molded 72 is very good ,

hard on the outside and soft on the inside,

perfect for what she wanted .... thanks EVW

I'm a big fan of Case Logic as its one of the few CD keepers whose slots are wide enough to hold the CD artwork and booklet. This is one of their best looking cases. It features a rigid cloth shell and a wrap-around zipper. The handle is sturdy and lightly padded. The only downside to this case is the beveled corners might smoosh your CD booklets more than square shaped cases. A capacity of 128 is the right combination of capacity and weight. (Have you lifted a fully loaded 250+ keeper? ugh!)

I have no complaints about this product. It is a semi-hard shell case for DVDs or CDs. Works perfectly. When the case is full you can still zip the zipper. The sleeves are very secure and do not feel like they will rip out of the case. It is a good size. Enough room for your discs but there is no wasted space.

Good product.

The case is slim enough to fit in the door bin and somewhat hard enough for protection from typical mishaps in a car. The inside films/sleeves could be a little more durable. Pricing is about the same as can be found at a nearby Staples. - Case - Cd Case - Dvd Case - Cd Storage'

Ceramic Straightener - long plates, hair straightener

I bought this flat iron, after almost choosing the Chi.

I've heard many stories about Chi's breaking after a year, which of course means no warranty. I didn't want to waste money on something that wouldn't last, so I searched more until I found this flat iron. Many people that had/have Chi's said that this flat iron is better.

After using it for the first time, wow! My hair was very smooth, sleek, healthy-looking, and straight! (obviously)

I'm so glad I purchased this flat iron, I was sick of my old one damaging my hair and not straightening it, or keeping it pin-straight all day. This one doesn't damage my hair (always use heat defense before using), and it makes it look even healthier. It smooths all the frizz, and creates smooth, sleek, healthy looking straight hair.

I've only had to use this flat iron on setting 30 (30/50 x 450 degrees), so I use it at 270 degrees and it's able to fully straighten my hair and keep it straight all day, until the next wash. Never use higher heat than your hair needs! You will only be simply damaging and maybe even burning your hair this way, leading to many split ends.BaByliss Pro BABNT3072 Nano Titanium-Plated Ultra-Thin Straightening Iron, 1 Inch

Before the Babyliss, I used Conair's $20 straighteners...for five years, actually. Those broke down once in a while, and when I got fed up with the static electricity that they put in my hair, I decided to invest in a more expensive brand--the Babyliss (which I found after thoroughly researching straighteners).

I definitely saw differences in the efficiency of each straightener. The Babyliss iron heats up VERY quickly, and retains the heat. Whereas I had to spend over 10 minutes (doing things in between waiting for the iron to reheat between swipes) straightening my hair imperfectly with the Conair brand, with the Babyliss I could straighten my hair in under 5...and yes, it was STRAIGHT. I also loved how it had a limited 4-year-warranty.

One of the cons of this iron is that it is so good at retaining heat that you have to be super careful. It is hard to hold onto the barrel when curling hair, and once I accidentally touched the plate a couple minutes after I had unplugged the appliance. It was painfully hot. Besides this, I would also like the Babyliss more if its shape was rounder, which allows, in my opinion, for nicer curls and flips. Check the customer images for the curls I made with the Babyliss, on my third attempt or so.

I would also be careful with handling the iron. It is not so sturdy. Mine actually broke to pieces in a check-in bag, so I used it for less than three weeks. It was good while it lasted. When it broke, I ordered a Le Angelique Pro, which is less expensive than the Babyliss and comes with a Lifetime Warranty, though it is not Nano Titanium or Ionic. I actually like my Le Angelique even more than this one, because it is less unbearably hot, it has a great round shape that makes for prettier curls, and I feel like it retains my hair's volume more. Perhaps I had set the Babyliss on too-high heat settings--my hair looked a bit flat when I straightened it.

Still, the Babyliss is a fantastic product that will make bad hair days history.

I love this straightener! I have had several others, including some professional models, that snagged my hair and caused it to break. This one didn't pull once! The plates are super smooth, and heat up quickly. I was worried that the plates are metal, because I've heard so much about ceramic, but I did a little reading and it seems that titanium is also good. After using it, this straightener did as good or better than ceramic units I've used--my hair was incredibly smooth and shiny. I used it for the first time before going out with a friend, and the first thing she said was "wow your hair looks great!"

I have thick wavy hair that is fairly difficult to straighten. I almost always use the highest setting on other flat irons, but on this one I was happy with one of the medium settings--it does get very, very hot on the higher settings! It was very easy to use though, especially with the narrow plates, and the shape of the casing makes it easy to flip hair around. I haven't tried curling with it yet, but I plan to!

Some folks have commented on a gap between the plates. There is a tiny gap of maybe 1mm, but unless you have very, VERY fine hair, it should be filled up (and then some) by the hair you are straightening. - Long Plates - Babyliss - Best Flat Iron - Hair Straightener'

Cable Organizer - cable management

I've never used a product as easy as this! Gather up your wire maze and put it into the egg nosed clip, slide it down the tube, and voila!...all your wire mess is condensed into the wrap. Easy as pie! Wonderful! Evriholder Cable Zipper Cord Organizer Kit, White, Large

this product does exactly as it is advertised. i was able to "zip" a mess of about 10 cords into the large organizer which turned them into one nice neat cable. It now runs along my baseboard and is almost unnoticeable. I would recommend this to anyone with any sort of A/V system.

This product works great! I have a cat that likes to chew wires and I was looking for a way to cover my cords. I just took a minute to study the diagram and it just zipped the wires right up! It actually looks nicer than the wires. I just noticed this review is for the large cover, I meant to review the medium. I actually used the medium in the bedroom, and got this large to use in the living room. The medium will hold 2 or 3 cords depending on the size of the cord. I have not used the large yet.

What a clever product. Plus, sturdy and nice looking. It really works and it is so easy. I have a 22" flat screen hanging on the wall in the bedroom. It is on an arm that can pull out to 20" from the wall. So, I needed something to cover a few cables, but not be stuck to the wall. This works perfectly, and it looks just modern enough for the room.

I opened it. Studied the directions. Followed the directions. All the wires from my TV, cable hookup, Roku hookup, DVD hookup are as one! We can roll the cart on which these machine live without rolling over wires and getting a bit aggravated.

Thermal Compound - thermal compound, cooling

This thermal paste worked as advertised and I found it easy to apply.

The only problem was the so called mask sheet that is a total pain in the rump.

Toss the mask sheet and if you are that particular, use some good masking tape to

block it in. The masking sheet is way to sticky and is more trouble than it is worth.

Since I have not tried to remove a processor after a long period of time using this paste, I cannot say if it will actually stay pliable over a long period of time (years). From my experience, some paste/adhesives used are a total pain when trying to remove the heatsink/fan assy. Cooler Master High Performance Thermal Paste - (HTK-002-U1)

The little strip of thermal paste that came with a replacement heat sink for my laptop was garbage. The old cooling fan burned out because it was running overtime. The replacement fan was still running at top speed whenever it was on, so I ordered this. The CPU is now running substantially cooler. Before, the air coming out of the back of the laptop was just a bit warm, now that the heat is being transferred to the heat sink properly, it feels much hotter. The only problem I found was that there was no included template for laptops, so I had to make my own. Not a big deal, just a bit of a pain.

I bought this thermal paste, thinking it was the silver type. It was the same CPU paste you can buy at Radio Shack for under $4. It appears to be water based silicone compound. I do not think you'll be happy.

I bought this hoping to have a larger syringe. The capacity is normally advertised in grams, but this says 8 ounces. 8 ounces is very little paste and I needed alot of it for testing and removing heatsinks on chips. If you need alot of this stuff, get the cooler master icefusion jug for better value.

This product works to ensure good thermal conductivity between a CPU and its Heat Sink. It is a composite of various metal oxides, hence its white color. It is designed to be easily applied correctly.

What's in the package:

- Thermal Compound

- Socket Template Stickers (2: for sockets A, 370, 7 and socket 423)

- Compound Applicator/Spreader

Instructions:

Very comprehensive, given in a step by step method, easy to follow.

Properties:

- Resists changes in consistency up to 177 degrees C

- Viscosity: Non flowing

- Specific Gravity: 2.37

- Dielectric Constant: 4.4 at 100kHz

- Volume Resistivity: 5.0 x 10 to the 15 power

- Dissipation fctor: 0.02 at 100KHz

- Dielectric Strength: 550 volts/mil; 21.7 kV/mm

- Thermal Conductivity: 0.8 watts/meter

This product, because of its compositon, should not be touched, and it should be kept out of the reach of children.

The thermal paste worked extremely well, and I used it multiple times to achieve cooler CPU temperatures, and found myself reapplying it even to my friends CPU's to help them with temperature problems. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I tried this based on some of the reviews, the price and drop in temperatures mentioned. I used this termal paste to replace the dried up paste on my new video card which had an oversized heat sink. It lowered the temperature by about 2-4c. I ended up getting an after market cooler. I think that will be my solution on my next card as well, if I cannot use my current cooler or maybe try the artic silver products. - Cooling - Cooler Master - Thermal Compound'

Battery Back Up - battery backup, uninterrupted power supplies

I purchased one of these items on May 10, 2008. Since I had a blackout on 6/27, I figured I could finally write a review.

First, this is my first APC, as well as my first battery backup, product. I've owned a number of surge protectors in the past, but since I had purchased a new computer, I wanted to try a backup device.

After a deal of research, I finally went with this one, after the value for the money, and the positive reviews APC had received.

This model offers 10 outlets, of which 5 can run off of the battery. This also offers a master, and three 'slave' outlets. This means that if the master is off, the three outlets can optionally be shut off as well (helpful for printers, monitors, speakers, ...) It's optional, so you can shut it off (which I did).

It also offers a USB connection, so you can monitor the status of the battery using APC PowerChute Personal Edition.

Along with charge percentage, it gives the number of volts being passed into it, and the watt load on the battery, which seems to translate into a battery estimate (how long equipment can run).

PowerChute offers a couple of options, for when the power goes off - preserve the battery, or keep the computer on for as long as possible.

Having had a blackout, albeit at night, I can suggest what I had happen. First, my computer appears to have been put to sleep. When it started back up, SpeedFan began running my two fans at 100%. In short, the battery handled the blackout perfectly.

If you're worried about alarms going off at night, there are settings to disable the alarm between particular hours, or disable it entirely.

Finally, while this comes with a battery, they do recommend you replace these every three years. You can run self-tests manually to verify the battery. I did have a bit of trouble when first hooking up the battery, but it was relatively minor.

(As a guy who's interested in statistics, I would also have liked to have been able to pull more information from PowerChute - for example, via a battery log of what's happening when I'm not at my computer. Granted, it'll tell you when the battery kicks in, but I'd like to know what voltage is being passed, and whether usage watts are spiking or moving throughout the day. What happens when I'm running tasks, or if I have my computer sit for a couple of hours with the monitor off?)

Overall, I'm *extremely* happy with this product, and will *definitely* be purchasing another one of these to hook up my Playstation 3 and Sony Bravia. APC BACK-UPS ES BE750G 10-Outlet 750VA 120V UPS System

You have to do your homework and read the fine print on these. For example, 750 sounds like a big number, but that's the volt/amps and not the wattage, which is the number quoted on power supplies. The real problem is the Active PFC (Power Factor Correction) power supplies which have been required since July 2007. You can read about this in the FAQs on the APC website. As I understand it, the Back-UPS and Smart-UPS SC, are not true, pure sine wave UPS, and are not suitable for any Active PFC computer power supply rated 500W or more. This would include many Core i7 and older serious gaming machines. These bigger modern power supplies require true, pure sine wave UPS's like the Smart-UPS, Smart-UPS XL and Smart-UPS RT, according to the informative but confusing (to me) PDF that I downloaded from APC, Application Note #147. Of course, you need to calculate the correct load of your equipment to determine which model is suitable for you.

I have several of these UPS's and they have served me well with my older smaller PCs, but they are not suitable for my new machines. They cut out and shut down my Dell XPS 435T with a 475W power supply. I should have done my homework and upgraded my UPS instead of using the one I already had.

I still rate it 5 stars, because it does what it is supposed to do very well, if you choose the correct model for your equipment.

I've had an APC Back-UPS unit for several years now and have been very satisfied. When other people in my rural neighborhood have had blown hard drives or mother boards due to "dirty" power, I've not had a bit of trouble. Buying a UPS is a wise investment to protect your sensitive electronic equipment. However, when I went to upgrade trouble started to brew.

Recently, I purchased the BE750G directly from APC's website. I was uncertain about which UPS would work best with my computer, so I used the online wizards at the APC site to help determine the best UPS. The wizard asks questions about the type of computer you have (tower vs. mini desktop), monitor size, and what other type of peripherals you might have connected to your computer. The wizard will also ask you what type of processor you have. I entered all of this information into the wizard and was presented with the BE750G. Click... I made the purchase. Once the UPS arrived, I connected it to my computer following the directions and did a quick self-test of the unit. Within two seconds of clicking the self-test button in the provided Power Chute software, all power to my computer was dropped and it went off.

I called APC tech support and they asked me what type of computer I had. I explained that it was a Dell Studio XPS 435T with the new Core i7-920 processor. The tech support representative did a bit of research and found that the power supply in my computer is not compatible with the APC unit I had purchased. I was told that the BE750G provides power in or as a "stepped approximation to a sinewave" when on battery power and that the power supply in my computer required a UPS that provides a "pure sinewave" when on battery power. It all sounded like Greek to me, I just knew it didn't work.

Okay, so time to return this paper weight back to APC for a refund. But hold on, APC wants to charge me a 15% restocking fee even though it was their website that told me the unit would work with my computer! Aggravating! I'm still waiting to negotiate a peace agreement with APC over this, but have learned a valuable lesson. Do your research!

Although the BE750G doesn't work with my computer, I'm 100% certain that it would work with older computers. I'm so confident of this that I purchased a second APC unit (SMT750) for my home office. This one should work. APC products good. APC sales... not so good. - Battery Backup - Computer Power Backup - Uninterrupted Power Supplies - Apc'

Computer Accessories - dvd case, case logic

This is a great holder for your CDs or DVDs. The size is right, it doesn't bulge when filled. The zipper does not bind either. The color is nice and so are the pages.

The only downsides are that the first and last couple pages are slightly bound when the case is full, and that the spine is a little stiff (doesn't open flat easily). These are minor problems and I would not let them dissuade you from buying this if you're looking for disc storage. Case Logic BNW-48 Polyester CD/DVD Wallet 48 Capacity (Black)

It isn't a hard shell case but easily sturdy enough to offer adequate protection to the CDs inserted. Any zippered case can potential scratch your CDs if you aren't paying attention when you insert CDs, even the most expensive cases, so the comment about the zipper possibly damaging the CDs was irrelevant. The sleeves hold CDs just fine.

If you want a CD case that hold up to 24 discs, zips shut so you can toss the case onto the car seat and jump in, then this case will work perfectly fine. Nothing in the case's construction suggests it will fall apart any sooner than any expensive case. It seems like a very good buy.

I own several Cage Logic camera cases and they never wear out, this CD case is no exception. Quality construction, 25 year warranty, easy-working zipper, there's nothing at all to hate about this case. I don't care that there is no place for a label, since I make my own CD labels. This fits the bill for my intentions, which is a small case to carry some CD's along with me in my car. It is a little larger in size than what I thought it would be, but that's OK, it still fits in my console. Also, the picture that is shown here shows a blue interior, it is black, not blue. I've seen this same case in local stores, the price here on Amazon is half what the stores charge for the same model case.

It holds my DVDs and CDs just fine. For the price its pretty good. Felt kind of cheap and flimsy at first but I see now it's pretty durable. I like it but if you have tons of CDs then I suggest you get one for more than just 48 CDs. Good luck!

Very nice storage wallet/zipper case for the money! Inexpensive, reliable, and necessary! Highly recommend this product! I have purchased these multiple times from same seller! A1 Product! You won't be disappointed!

This is the best CD/DVD case that I've owned personally. The construction is solid, it's easy to slip discs into (and out of) the envelopes, and the zipper closes the case tight to protect your discs. I own more than one of these cases, and if I ever need to store more CDs/DVDs - then I'll be buying another one. Awesome value for the money!

I love Books on CD and this has been the BEST thing I've done! I especially love the books on roadtrips and the ease of getting them out to play is wonderful!!!! As a storage unit...it's a WINNER!!!!!!!!

I store this case in my laptop bag whenever I travel, so that I can bring along my favorite collection of DVDs and Wii games. The 48 capacity might sound small compared to larger cases, but 48 is actually very generous if you're using this thing for traveling. It is a good trade-off between case size and capacity. If you just plan to store your entire CD/DVD collection in your bedroom or something like that, you might want to go up a size or two.

I have been very pleased with construction of the case; after several months of use, it has shown no signs of wearing down. The CDs are afforded good protection, and I never worry about them being damaged or falling out when I travel. It does not bulge or bend when completely filled. - Dvd Case - Case Logic - Disk Storage - Dvd Holders'
