Breast Cancer Awareness - breast cancer awareness, pencil

I only purchase Papermate mechanical pencils. When I saw the Pink Ribbon mechanical pencils I had to have them. These live up to the Papermate Quality. The lead is firm but not too firm. I tend to have a heavy grip on my pencils. The lead writes smoothly. These hold up well. Good buy. Paper Mate Pink Ribbon Comfortmate Ultra 0.7mm Mechanical Pencil, 2 Pack (1751007)

I ordered these pencils, and they are great. I live the color, and I'm glad to support this cause. I have a friend that had breast cancer, and now she has been cancer free for three years. The pencils work great too. I have not had any problems with them, and I use they everday for school. I write with them all the time. thanks for a great product.

Beware, this is the same product for which reviews of can be found at the following address (append to amazon(dot)com): /product-reviews/B001JZ4V3C/

The metal tip on the pencil is well known to fall off or get stuck up inside the pencil under normal use. This renders the pencil useless. If you want a breast-cancer awareness pencil that will actually last more than a few days, I believe Pilot offers a Breast-Cancer Awareness edition of its Dr. Grip pencil, which is a better quality product. If you are just looking for a good pencil, Pentel and Pilot both offer superior products.

I ordered these pencils for crossword puzzles, and they are perfect. I have problems with my hands, and these fit the bill perfectly. Not too heavy, with the comfort padding that makes for an easy grip, if you have any hand issues, try these! Plus they are supporting team Pink!!

These are great writing pencils and you can't go wrong. They represent an extremely important battle we face everyday with cancer. You contribute to that with the purchase, you and others around you are reminded of the breast cancer fight when you use them, they are extremely comfortable to write with, and pink is my favorite color! SO there is no downside to this purchase! The pens are wonderful too, Paper Mate has always, and continues to make an excellent writing instrument, priced very reasonably, and supports such a worthy cause!! - Pencil - Gel Pen - Breast Cancer - Breast Cancer Awareness'

Stuffed Animals - plush, stuffed animal

Adorable and sweet. So soft 'minky' fabric in a deep black color. Huge bright green eyes and soulful expression. Big weighted paws. Soft nose and paw pads made of faux suede. Adorable curled tail end. Small enough to carry about, yet big enough for love. Sturdy stitching and floppily stuffed. Very pleased, especially since I got 3 different ones at the same time w/ free shipping on all! Makes for a bargain!! Manhattan Toy Lanky Cats Ziggy - Black

I bought this cat for my daughter who is almost 2 years old and it has been a big success. She is not especially fond of stuffed toys but this cat has the perfect size, texture, softness and plenty of cuteness. We even decided to take this cat to go with us on a 2 week European trip. We named our cat "Manhattan" since that's what was on his tag. Now my daughter's favorite game is to hide the cat and look for it. People get confused and find it especially adorable when my toddler yells "Where's Manhattan, where's Manhattan?!" then pulls out the little black cat and laughs happily: "Here he is!..". I am considering using this cat for her Halloween outfit. She will be little Coraline. I think he will look great sticking out of Coraline's messenger bag - eventhough his eyes are not blue.

This cat is SO cute!! It is a perfect size and very soft!! It would be great for childrens' small hands because it goes in small at the waist, which makes it easy for small hands to carry!

The paws are weighted a bit and overall it's very easy to bend and play with! A very cute, small, soft black cat!

As an adult who had a rough day and is not ashamed of catering to her inner child, I bought this black cat (as well as the gray one) to pamper myself a bit. I must say, when they arrived I immediately felt a little better. ;) They're cute and floppy, perfect for any child (or any adult's inner child). The material is soft and they are well weighted in the extremities. For me, they were a nice pick-me-up to a bad week!

This cat is cute - but it has no tail? The picture shows a tail on the cat... so maybe mine is a dud. Perhaps I should have realized this before I took off the tag. Oh well... Just check yours before you remove the tag!

when you see it you're drawn to it's eyes. but, then when you hold it under it's arms like you would a real kitten then you melt. it is so cute and the way it drapes in you hand makes you want to hug it....

The other reviews are fairly true, mine arrived with the eyes all scratched up. Totally deteriorates from the value of the gift. Really a quality control problem. The toy also had dirt and fuzz on it... my guess is that it was returned and resold to me. Thanks.

My daughter is a huge Coraline fan and the only 'toys' are for older tween/teens and she is only 4. This guys was a huge hit as the cat from the movie. He is really soft and floppy and she carries him everywhere! - Plush - Stuffed Animal - Cats - Black Cat'

Impact Drivers - dewalt, cordless

Not long ago a friend gave me an extra DeWalt 18 volt drill he'd come into. I'd been using a 12 volt Makita for over a decade, and I was impressed with how much more torque and battery life the DeWalt had. The same friend also had a DeWalt impact driver from the same series, and again, I was impressed how well this handled mechanical tasks usually relegated to a pneumatic impact driver. But even more impressive was how well the DeWalt worked for driving screws.

A few years ago, the major cordless tool makers started to come out with impact drivers which they marketed not to mechanics, but to carpenters. While today's 18volt cordless drills do a pretty good job of driving screws, they still start to bog down when driving really long screws into hard or resinous wood. The slow, stall, and eventually overheat. But impact drivers don't do this. They work on a different principle, using a motor-driven hammer to repeatedly strike an anvil that drives the output shaft. As the load increases, they switch from spinning to a rapid-fire staccato impact mode, in which every impact turns the screw a bit farther, while the motor continues to spin and bring in cooling air.

I was very pleased to discover that Amazon had a DeWalt impact driver available in a batteryless and caseless package (for those of us who already have a charger and several batteries) for about $125. I purchased mine for a mix of yard projects- this is a great tool for driving the big screws used to tie landscape timbers together- home projects, and motorcycle/scooter maintenance. And amazingly, it's even lighter and more compact than the DEWALT DC759KA Heavy-Duty 18-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit. I'm giving away my Makita 12v drill/driver to a nephew who likes tools and gadgets, and switching 100% to the DeWalt system. Bare-Tool DEWALT DC825B 1/4-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Impact Driver (Tool Only, No Battery)

I bought this last year after my Black and Decker 18v drill died it's 3rd death. I got it in a 4 tool combo kit on sale at Lowes. I build haunted houses for the Halloween season so most of what I do construction wise is with rough and sometimes very old and hard woods. The woods are also made super tough (like rock) from a chemical that must be sprayed on them to make them fire retardant. I found that before, even with an 18v drill that screws would shear off before going into the boards which made it difficult to make secure connections in the wood. It is hard to make something look old and spooky and still have it be safe so having good, solid tools is a must. Right after I charged the battery I tried this tool out. Wow!! It drove a 3 inch deck screw into an old hardened 2x4 in the blink of an eye!! I had never used a tool like that. It quickly became a favorite of mine on the jobsite. I used it hard and it never once let me down. I bought it toward the end of the build so I only got to use it on a few hundred screws but never a disappointment. I'm looking forward to using on this season's build as well as in my volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who builds.

I bought this tool to add to my dewalt collection. I have had the 18volt dill for years and did'nt think that I need an impact driver. I was wrong. I am using the impact more that the drill for driving large screws. It make the jobs much easier. The driver was shipped by a third party and I received it in just a few days. I was very impressed. This is an excellent tool if you do lots of repair work with 2 by lumber.

I have long been a loyal DeWalt costumer, especially when in comes to cordless tools like the 18v drill I purchased 6 years ago. That drill quickly became my favorite tool and has seen constant use since. In fact I was so happy with the drill that I did not see any reason to buy an impact driver, until a couple of projects I was working on required me to drive a large number of constuction screws and lag bolts. My drill was able to drive them but not as easily or quickly as I would have liked, so I decided it was time to give the impact driver a try and my only regret it that I did not buy one sooner. This driver is by far the best power tool I have ever owned. It is absolutely necessary for driving lag screws or anything comparable but also preforms so much better in less demanding tasks like running deck screws. I have discovered that it is also quite handy for boring large holes even though that is not the intent behind the tool. If you put an Irwin Speedbore bit in this thing it will chew through 4 by lumber in no time. Using the driver for boring has saved my wrist on a number of occasions as those Speedbore bits require quite abit of torque to run and if the bit binds up while using a regular drill all that torque gets transferred to your wrist. Now that I have a set of Irwin Speedbore and Spade bits plus a decent hex drill bit set my drill is relegated to drilling metal and the occasional pilot hole.

This driver is also much better at removing rusty and stripped screws than my drill, just another unexpected bonus.

Without exception this is the one tool that goes with me to every job. - Impact Drivers - 18 Volt - Dewalt - Cordless'

DC Comics, Hasbro and other Marvel Comics productions NOT involving CAPTAIN AMERICA take note... CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER got it right - THIS is how you make a superhero movie!!

1) DO humanize your hero but not by creating disgusting habits in him (Iron Man) - rather by presenting him as the personified goodness all humans possess but infrequently act on. DON'T turn him into a total pathetic wuss and moronic jerk at the beginning only to turn the improbable light switch for him to become the hero he's supposed to be.

2) DO showcase the central character in ALL his comic book glory and yes, a little patriotic flag waving doesn't hurt. Um, he is suppeosed to be an AMERICAN hero after all not just a "citizen of the world." DON'T be ashamed of the golden legacy that turned an imagined character into an enduring icon of American culture. (Superman Returns and Smallville - I'm thinking of you.)

3) DO stick to ONE story thread and carry it to completion. DON'T try to "add depth and diversity" by intoducing a bunch of superfluous characters that only serve to create a mess (Green Lantern, G.I. Joe and again, Smallville).

4) DO give the superhero a supervillain worthy of him. DON'T save the good stuff for a planned sequel because if your original movie sucks, the sequel becomes very unlikely (Superman Returns - Spacey's version of Lex Luthor was laughable and not in a good way. The first Hulk - his own father???)

5) DO bring out the trumpets and flurries for a memorable theme song. DON'T rely on cheesy heavy metal "music" (Matrix movies).

6) DO allow the superhero to fall long and hard for the ONE true love of his life and vice versa. DON'T create insanely obnoxious girly pointless melodrama (Spider-Man, Superman Returns and Smallville). On similar note, DO present the hero's LOVE and soulmate in all her stellar glory as his one and only equal - SHOW it, DON'T just say it.

7) DO frame the hero in stunning action sequences in all his head to toe uniformed glory (Tom Welling, PLEASE take note). DON'T pick an actor to play said hero if he's going to refuse to wear the suit by trying to hide behind a lame ass excuse such as "it's more interesting to show what happend in the character's life before he became the hero we know him to be." DON'T, DO NOT disrespect your audience by presuming to tell us what to think. If you're going to film the Statue of Liberty, doesn't it make sense that the audience expects to actually SEE the Statue of Liberty and not a blurry CGI version of it or just a close up of the head?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER is quite simply, THE BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER MADE. Chris Evans and Haley Atwell are bona fide stars. Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and really, ALL the supporting characters have earned my respect. The writers and director Joe Johnston have created a masterpiece. Alan Menken and Alan Silvestri with the music and the entire crew obviously poured their heart into the making of this film and I, as a classic movie lover, am genuinely grateful. God bless you all and God bless the United States of America! ... UNashamedly so! I'm a do-it-yourself homeowner, not a professional, but I found this book to be a great resource as I plan out my house. "Scientific" enough to let me understand why color combinations work as they do (and help me design my own schemes) while still completely clear to the lay person. If you're serious about understanding color, this is an extremely useful book. Color in Interior Design CL

I found this book to be extremely useful in learning the principles behind choosing color schemes. As with anything, application and practice will fine tune one's abilities, but C.i.I.D. proved to be an excellent resource guide. Highly recommended!

If you are an interior design student and you want good interior design books, then, in your search, just key in the words "John Pile". You just cannot go wrong. I have them all. Thanks, Mr. Pile. The books are well written, well produced, the paper excellent, photography excellent. Most of all, I like his style of writing, of getting his ideas across. He makes a student's life so much easier.

As a lay person just interested in learning more about the use of color in interior design, this was an excellent book. While the first several chapters were very "text bookish", the remainder was very layman friendly. I feel more confident in undertaking color projects in my home and in conversing about the use of color with friends, who are now asking my opinions. The chapters that helped me the most were on the color wheel and color relationships. I enjoyed it and will now pursue my interest in color and design.

This is a great color reference for interior designers, or aspiring designers. It is a great visual reference, offers very good detail and I use it often for reference when putting together story boards and offering ideas to clients.

There are zillions of books on this complex world of color.

This one is the best for all Interior Designers, students and teachers, it is written by John F. Pile, an authority in Interior Design. You will enjoy learning the Color Systems for your business, and covers the historical aspect of of the Bauhaus School of Design, and also color in Historic Interiors, including artists and personal experiences.

Rechargeable Batteries - cordless lawn tools, rechargeable batteries

Black and Decker has at least 7 versions of the Slide 18v battery pack. You have no guidance which is better than the other as B&D absolutely refuses to publish the ampere rating or number of contacts of any of them.

Battery identification is poor: Every battery I have seen is marked "244760-00." What good is that in identifying the battery? There are some molded-in numbers but B&D absolutely refuses to tell you what they mean.

On the blister pack for the HPB18-OPE you read "25% more power than the standard battery*" Finding the "*", it says "Compared to the HPB18." Both are the same price on Lowes shelves. B&D absolutely refuses to divulge how these two compare to each other or the FireStorm series.

A Factory Store manager has said two Firestorm versions were once better but have been downgraded this past 12-18 months and are usually worse than the HP18 units. B&D absolutely refuses to divulge any history of the FireStorm 18V batteries.

These batteries will connect to three types of chargers. One will charge the battery in 9 hours, another in 3 hours, and the last in 1 hour. Between the battery and charger combination, severely reduced battery life will result if the battery is left on the charger longer than 2 days. On another the degrade occurs only after 30 days. The third does not damage the battery in any length of time. You are left to guess which combination is optimum and which is a disaster. B&D absolutely refuses to divulge which is which.

I have many hours into trying to make heads or tails out of this, including several contacts on the phone, and e-mails with B&D, ditto plus in person at a factory store and factory repair station. The B&D Factory Stores and Repair Stations concur with my view that B&D is extremely arrogant, totally wrong in their attitude, and show no willingness to change. Black & Decker HPB18-OPE 18-Volt Slide Pack Battery For 18-Volt Outdoor Cordless Power Tools

B&D doesn't really tell you the whole story about their batteries...

In my experience, this battery has 1.5 Ah cells, and unless HPB18 to which it is compared to has 1 Ah cells (which I doubt) it cannot have 50% more capacity. 25% is more likely and it was marketed as such for a while.

Adding to other review, I think I figured out number near the battery lock. First, you have manufacturing year and week along with some letters. And then there is three digit number, which tells you cell manufacturer (first digit) and capacity (two last digits). This is what I encountered:

412 - 1.2 Ah cells marked BD (most likely specifically manufactured for B&D) - usually FS18B and HPB18 batteries, but also some 244760. These cells are actually short Sub C (or 4/5 SC) and B&D puts plastic pad inside the battery, so housing has the same exterior size.

115 - 1.5 Ah cells without manufacturer identification

415 - 1.5 Ah cells marked BD

515 - 1.5 Ah cells manufactured by HANYU

All these are marketed as FSXtreme, HPB18-OPE, FS18BX and 244760

421 - 2.1 Ah cells manufactured by BYD - high capacity "Silver Series" FS18SBX. BYD is actually well known Chinese battery manufacturer, nice chunk of whose shares was recently purchased by Warren Buffett.

Bought a string trimmer with 2 HPB18 batteries two years ago. The batteries never did last more than about 10 minutes on the job (BIG disappointment) but at least with the two of them I could do MOST of my very small yard. This year the batteries are both dead (won't hold a charge). I broke down last night and went to HD to buy a replacement battery. Then I read the review here that talks about the code underneath the battery clip, so I decided to check it out. My two old batteries have the code "415" (Black & Decker, 1.5 AH) while the new battery I just bought has the code "410" (Black & Decker, 1.0 AH)!! GREAT - if two of their 1.5AH batteries wouldn't hold up to do my yard, I'm sure that one of their 1.0AH batteries will handle about 5 blades of grass before dying! I guess I'll be returning this battery today!

Does anyone know where you can get HPB18 batteries with 1.5 AH (or greater) capacity? I'm leary about ordering over the internet, for fear that I won't know for sure what their capacity is until they arrive (since they ALL are designated "HPB18"). I'm thinking I may just go to a local shop that rebuilds rechargeables and see what they can do for me.

Black and Decker, are you hearing us?? WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR BATTERIES!!

I note most reviewers have found that the B&D 18volt batteries have short lives and cost $35-$40 to replace. Save yourself a bundle and just replace the NiCad batteries inside your worn out B&D 18volt battery. It just so happens that you can buy an almost identical 18 volt NiCad battery at Harbour Freight that is currently on sale for $[...] each! [...]

All you have to do is open each battery by removing the screws and swap out the battery packs....no re-soldering required!. Just note the + and - on each battery as they are reversed so you must also remove the black plastic part on each battery that retains the two power tabs and pops into the top of the batteries. Look at the layout and you can easily figure it out....took me about 5 min to make the swap and now I have a new B&D 18v battery that cost me only $[...] and 5 min of time. I plan to buy several while they are on sale for future swaps.

The tools are fair tools. To bad the batterys suck. Everyone should get together and have a class action law suit.Takes 10 minutes to run the battery down and 3 hours to charge it. Pure junk. I have a whole set of the tool to is the bad thing.

My first appliance was a dustbuster with the standard 18v battery pack. The charger was a disappointment due to lack of indication and long charge times. However, the battery seemed to last a reasonable period, holding a charge for several weeks while I used the dustbuster occasionally.

I bought a quick charger with LED indicators and have been pleased with the charging performance. I later bought a cordless drill that was sold without a battery. I used the dustbuster battery initially, but found that it didn't support drilling more than 12 - 4 inch screws into pine 2 X 4's.

I then bought an expensive Silver version of the battery, which is supposed to have better capacity. I have been very disappointed with the performance. The duty cycle actually seems to be less than the standard battery and it won't hold a charge for more than a day or two.

I charge the battery completely and leave it on the shelf, not even installed in the drill and when I need to use the drill the battery is often drained to the degree that I can't even mix paint with it.

There is obviously something wrong with the design of these batteries. Too bad, because the tools themselves are decent. I was about to buy another silver battery, assuming that I just happened to get a bad one, but after reading the comments from others with similar experience, I have decided to cut my losses and buy a better product from either Dewalt or Makita. Black and Decker should issue a recall on these batteries and replace them with ones that perform as expected. If they do this, I might consider buying B&D products again in the future. - Cordless Lawn Tools - Battery Packs - Battery - Rechargeable Batteries'

Forks Over Knives - forks over knives, t colin campbell

Over the last twenty thirty years I have read a number of books dealing with diet and the impact it has on our bodies and our planet. One of the first was John Robbins, Diet for a New America. Healthy Eating Health World picks up where books like Robbins' left off and offers a current, fact based perspective on this critically important topic. It clearly explains how the answer to so many of our own individual health problems and those of the earth on which we reside, can be solved simply by what we choose to eat. Hicks raises all the right issues but does so in a way that is readily approachable and nonthreatening, even to members of the mainstream medical community, many of whom are not yet enlightened about the subject. The book is exceptionally well written. I finished it in a few hours not because I am a speed reader but because it is a "great read." Although the topics covered address life and death decisions we make every day, the clever wording and subtle humor make reading it a pleasure.I am buying copies to give as gifts to family, friends and business associates. I can't think of anything more valuable I could give people I care about. Robert S. Wyatt, PhD Healthy Eating, Healthy World: Unleashing the Power of Plant-Based Nutrition

I note the author's "Blinding Flash of the Obvious - in 2003." The author is a self-proclaimed "Big Picture Guy." He demonstrates this daily in his brief, focused blogs on healthy eating, healthy world on WordPress (hpjmh.com). This just-published book (Sept. '11) lets us have an excellent way to share his education on the huge benefits to health, health costs, environment, world hunger and animal treatment that result by switching to plant-based, whole-foods nutrition. My family of four has been on this optimal nutrition for best human health program since Jan. 2003 (same year as Hick's "Blinding Flash"), after we all participated in Dr. John McDougall's 10-day "Total Health Solution" Clinic. I am 75 and have no known chronic diseases and do not take any medicines, not even statins, aspirin, and supplements (except for B12). Maytag Filter - maytag filter, refrigerator accessories

You gotta hand it to Maytag - they made replacing the water filter very simple. Took all of about 30 seconds from start to finish. And about 20 seconds of that was wiping up the water that dripped out of the old filter when I pulled it out, so the next change should go even better ;-)

We have a family of six and we drink water almost exclusively, so I went ahead and changed the filter at six months just like the owner's guide recommended. However, I could see no evidence that the filter was near its end of life and am convinced that I can get more use out of the filters than the suggested six months. I will try to keep an eye on things, but without a little window I really have no way other than flow to know what is going on.

And that is why I gave this a rating of four stars. The filter seems to work wonderfully and replacement is a breeze, but I would be happier if I could look at the state of the filter while it is in use. Maytag UKF8001 PuriClean II Refrigerator Cyst Reducing Water Filter, 1-Pack (Discontinued by MFG 2009)

My Ice Cube make was having major problems. Ice Cubes were hollow and Ice was sticking on the White Prongs that pop the cubes out. I called Amana and they were no help so I figured that the Cube maker was not getting enough water flow.

I replaced with this filter and now the Ice Cube maker is like new and the water shoots out of the dispenser like crazy. What used to take 25-30 seconds to fill a glass of water now takes 3-5 seconds.

So if you are having Ice Cube issues or poor water flow buy this.

It's a little expensive for a water filter but it's worth it.

Oh and the water tastes good too.

This is a very expensive item for what you get, and it certainly doesn't last as long as they say it does. The taste of your water coming through this filter is great for the first month or so, but then the quality drops noticeably quick.

I think the price of this item is unfairly high, but once you buy a refrigerator that needs them, you're stuck. You either buy the filter or put up with nasty tasting water from your refrigerator spigot.

A good rule of thumb, if you're buying one filter, better buy two, because you'll need a new one quicker than you think.

This item was exactly what I needed and at a good price. This item is sometimes difficult to find in stores and the price is usually a litle bit higher. The item was shipped quickly and I did not have any problems installing it.

Fast delivery of an important feature of the family refrigerator. This is a water filter that screens particles and odors out of chilled water dispenser. It is sturdy, easy to install and very reliable. Buy it, you'll be satisfied.

Electric Sharpener - electric sharpener, pencil sharpeners

This is a great product. I love it. This sharpened pencils perfectly--even when my third graders sharpened them. Until that fateful day in January.... A student shoved a pencil in eraser first.... (So it was perfect from August to January.) That day in January I took it home and finally was able to remove a giant eraser-tip, but the sharpener wobbled and wasn't perfect anymore. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it failed. Now that it's April, it can handle one pencil before it dies--and it better be a Ticonderoga pencil or it won't work at all. (There is a warranty, but I'm sure misuse nullifies the warranty.)

I will be replacing it, as my students spend all day sharpening their pencils on hand-cranks that don't really work right. I will just sharpen 30 pencils each morning, which would take less than five minutes with this sharpener in peak condition. X-ACTO Teacher Pro Electric Pencil Sharpener with SmartStop, Black (1675)

I have suffered for years with the drudgery of using the cheaper x-acto model that Staples sells. I am so happy to finally have a sharpener that works! It's amazing what a difference there is between the two, and who needs the aggravation of broken pencil leads, dull points, and fussy kids? These days, one less unnecessary stress is much appreciated.

I am a teacher and have bought several pencil sharpeners and have always been let down. This is absolutely the BEST pencil sharpener I have ever used! Other teachers have come to my classroom to use it and have since gone out to buy the same one!! It is fabulous!! If you need a fast sharpener that will last a long time, this is the one for you!

This sharpener worked great for about a year. NOW, it takes forever to sharpen and makes a HORRENDOUS noise. I had a previous model that was great for 4 years until a student put a crayon in it. The new version is horrible. I had an electrician check it out for me to see if the noise could be fixed. All plastic parts inside and the teeth on the wheels have broken off.

DON'T BUY if you think it will last a while.

This pencil sharpener works beautifully...does a magnificent job sharpening, and automatically stops (and a light comes on) when the pencil is sharp. Seems well made & I expect it to last a long time in my classroom!

I was thrilled to finally get a sharpener for my classroom. However, I sharpened about 20 pencils and noticed that all of them were sharpened, but they had one end higher than the other, with the wood of the pencil coverering part of the lead. They did not sharpen evenly. I thought it was because it was new but after sharpening 40 pencils all had the same result.

I teach 2nd grade and sharpen hundreds of pencils. Never again will I buy this or any other X-Acto electric sharpener. They burn out and jam constantly. On my teacher's salary I am tired of buying worthless sharpeners.

I have a 6 and 8 year old daughter who are in first and third grade. This pencil sharpener seems to work great. It accomodates all sizes of pencils. The smart stop feature works well. It lets them know when to stop sharpening so that the points do not break in the machine. Highly recommend

Bought this for my 1st grade classroom in September. Holding up well and very happy. We sharpen a minimum of 22 pencils daily. I allow students to use it, but with supervision so they aren't all rushing it at once. Someone did attempt to insert a pencil in by the eraser and the sharpener ate some of the metal around it. I was able to unplug it and remove the jam. Another time a pencil had a decorative plastic wrap on it. That also caused a jam but was removed. After each jam the sharpener resumed working immediately without further problems. Really like the blue light that tells when the pencil is sharp - keeps the kids from leaving the pencil in until there's nothing left of it. - Pencil Sharpeners - Electric Sharpener - School Supplies - Pencil Sharpener'

Mac Mini Server - mini, mac os x

It's been a few days since these were announced and we've already installed 30 of them here at Macminicolo. (We host them as servers in our data center.) Here is what you need to know:

1) The image above is not correct (as of 6/18/10). This mini does not have an optical drive and instead has two hard drives. You can use optical drives of other Macs on your network though.

2) The two drives total 1TB. YOu can use them separate or in RAID configurations. New in this version are the 7200RPM drives (up from 5400 in the last version.

3) Apple now officially supports 8GB of RAM in these minis. Eight GB was unofficially supported in the last version, but did work fine.

4) These minis are quiet, don't get hot, and use hardly any power. Amazing build and design went into this machine.

5) If you buy this mini and want to upgrade the RAM, Apple has made it very easy. Just twist the bottom and put in the RAM. No tools required.

6) This Mac mini comes with an unlimited license of Snow Leopard Server. No yearly seat costs, not license per user. Totally unlimited.

7) The SD card slot can read SDXC. That's not a big deal now,but will definitely be so in the future. That standard can support up to 2TB. So, as that technology comes, this mini will be future proof. (In Theory, this means you could have 3TB of data in this mini. Incredible.)

8) The video card has been upgraded and is a great addition.

9) The power brick is now inside the Mac mini. (It used to be a huge white brick nearly the size of the mini itself.) This is very much welcome.

So overall, great machine. Nice to see the nice new look. Apple Mac Mini MC438LL/A Server

I bought this Mac Mini Server basically because it was the quietest machine I could find that could also function as a HTPC/media player into my TV ( a projector actually). I could have bought the regular version but chose the server edition so that I could get a full 1TB of storage space, which allows me to also use this a as a quiet NAS for my home network.

Now I'm not really a computer geek but I liked the convenience this thing could offer. Setting it up wasn't easy but with some reading the manual as well as some guides on setting up OSX server I was able to succesfully set it up to play to my TV was well as to link up to the home network on my router so it can network with the three laptops we have in the house running Windows 7. So in that sense it doable for the average user, but you do have to be willing to roll up your sleeves and learn a bit about networking and server management. It's not stuff I knew about before - but I sure do now. That said, in all fairness the server control panel on this Mac Mini Server is a lot more user friendly than on my Windows server.

I wanted to control the Mac Mini server without having to turn on the projector that it feeds. I found that I could do this with a software called a VNC client. I use one by Mocha. I works perfectly well. As a backup to that I have a wireless Mac keyboard and trackpad, as well as an iphone VNC client. I would caution that the iphone VNC client is really mostly a gimmick, as the screen is very small and its really more useful for just checking that all is well than actually doing anything heavy duty. For real work the laptop-based VNC client is far better.

With the server set up with VLC media player and Plex, this box has replaced both my Squeezebox music and my Popcorn hour media player. Which is no mean feat, as both of those are pretty good in their own right.

Overall I'm pretty happy with this thing. It is dead silent sitting in my living room, yet it does everything I need. That's just a whole new ballgame when it comes to PC's to be honest.

The only criticism I would make is that so far there are no matching external hard drive out there that go with this new Mac Mini. So if you want to extend the storage then you have to either accept tacking on an ugly, non matching drive, or hiding the whole set up.

No, that's not true - I do have another criticism, which is that at a thousand dollars the price of this thing is quite high. That said, there simply are not other full power PCs that look this good or can operate at 14 decibels of silence in the middle of your living room, so I guess I didnt have a choice really. But I do hope more companies try to take Apple on here - so we can get this sort of thing cheaper!

This is an amazing little box. I replaced a big loud HP server at my home office with the mac mini server in about a day. Not only am I able to host a site using Apache, PHP, and MySQL but I was able to install Windows Server 2008 using Parallels and host sites using IIS, ASP.NET, and MS Sql Server at the same time. You can get the best of both worlds using this server. I used Apple's USB ethernet adapter (which you can find on Amazon) to give the virtualized Windows Server it's own network interface so I can treat it as a completely separate entity on the firewall.

So far it's been running just fine with the 4 gigs of RAM but you do have the option to upgrade to 8 later if you need to.

I highly recommend this server to anyone who needs one at a home/small office. Even if you need to run Windows Server, this little box can handle it.

I do not recommend this for the average user, stick to the regular mac mini if you do not need a server. - Server - Mini - Mac Mini - Mac Os X'

Bluetooth Car Adapter - hd radio, usb

Truly plug 'n play. The small dimensions (approx 3.5" x 2.5" x 7/8") of the receiver lends to an easy installation. Comes with an antenna extension, if needed, and the connecting cable to the radio is pre-wired. Plug it in, move the antenna coax from the radio to the HDM90 receiver and you're ready to go! Reception is good and crisp. No hiss etc. My only regret is that I was unaware that Dual makes a few radios with HD built into the radio! I bought my radio at WalMart. The packaging was not that clear that it was only HD radio ready (small print). I also had to go to Dual's web site to find the dimensions. Childrens Art - crayola, childrens art

So I saw these at Staples and because I'm an impulse buyer, I snagged them. We're a homeschooling family and dry erase markers are expensive, stinky and they dry out way too easily! Dry Erase Crayons were just too tempting to pass up.

When I got home, I starting wondering about the difference between the dry erase crayon and regular crayons. The Dry Erase Crayons are thicker and the colors are deeper. Regular crayons do come off your dry erase board just as easily, though. So if you are in a pinch and the student isn't too far from the dry erase board regular colors will do and are much cheaper.

We will purchase this product again. (I also like the mitt that came in the package) Crayola 8ct Dry Erase Crayons Large Size

We bought both the washable crayons and markers but the crayons worked sooo good and safe for my 3yr. old and 1 1/2yr. old that we haven't even bothered opening the markers yet. We simlpy use a baby wipe on the whiteboard or the kids to take the color off! And there is no mess on their clothes from the crayons. We highly recommend this product.

I bought 2 packs: home and office. How much fun would it be to do office work in crayon?! Little problem. They are very hard to erase. Erasing leaves a waxy residue that makes regular dry erase markers hard to erase. Fortunately you can remove them with the normal white board spray.

Too much hassle.

Edit: Can also remove with wet cloth. You have to be extremely thorough to remove all the waxy residue, otherwise dry erase marker over the waxy stuff won't erase.

I just picked up this product the other night and was pleasantly surprised at how bright the colors were. Like the other reviewers, I agree, they do not wipe off super easy - BUT I find that with children that is great. They enjoy making a picture without worrying that they are going to wipe off half of it with their sleeve.

I also think they are great for putting stuff on a white board for a chart. The kids made their chore charts with the crayons and they mark what is done with a regular marker. At the end of the week they can erase the marker (with a super light touch) while the crayon stays.

The crayon will come off with harder pressure. Best of both worlds.

I bought these for my kindergarten classroom because I was tired of dry erase markers drying out when the kids lost the caps. These are a great idea but are kind of hard for them to erase. They leave a greasy film on the dry erase boards which is hard to get off. On accident, I tried one of my son's washable crayola crayons (the big fat ones) and that actually wrote smoother and was easier to erase than these. Also, the washable crayons wipe off really easy with a wet paper towel if you want to really clean the dry erase board. As an added bonus, the washable crayons come in a pack of 16 for about the same price as these. I'm definitely going to get the washable crayons from now on instead of these. Just a tip: a square of felt works wonders as an eraser too. Who needs an eraser mitt!

Crayola Washable Crayons 16-pk.

I am a kindergarten teacher and came across these a year ago and decided to try them out. We use lap sized white boards daily in the classroom and have dealt with many dry erase marker issues in the past. I don't like the fumes of 25 open markers in a room, or the problems with stray marks on clothes, or the hassle of constantly checking caps and having pushed in tips. These dry erase crayons solve many of those issues. I have the children in color groups and give each color table their color (purple team gets purple etc.)to stop color picking fights. Also by giving each student just one crayon, it makes a package of 8 a bargain in comparison to markers. The yellow crayon is harder to see, so we didn't use that color. I was not pleased with the eraser mitt that comes with the product(it seems to erase better inside out) and instead bought a microfiber towel from the auto department and cut it into small rectangular pieces for each student to have their own. After a year of tough use, there are a few drawbacks. The product is a soft crayon that can be broken, good news is, it still writes even in two pieces. Once the labels have been removed or fallen off, the crayons can rub off onto hands and desks even with correct use, this is when I issued replacements(1/2 way through the year). The soft crayons can easily write on anything (think hard lipstick) including arms, faces, desks, clothes, carpet, etc. This is the same as markers, just not what regular crayons can do, so it requires a certain amount of training and supervision with young children. The harder the child pushes down on the crayon, the harder it will be for them to erase, so the proper amount of pressure needed is also a learned skill. After a year of use, it is easy to tell which boards were at which table because the edges of the boards have taken on the color of the crayon, but the wear to the boards is much better then that of the ones we used with markers in previous years. Bottom line: I used two crayons per student during the school year to practice anything from letters, numbers, spelling words, writing, etc. In previous years some students went through 5 or 7 markers each. Crayons write smoothly and dark enough to be seen easily. Writing comes off completely even after time has lapsed. I am buying them again for my next class.

We had so much trouble with traditional dry erase markers leaving stains on clothes that I thought we'd try these. We were very pleased! They write smoothly. You do have to rub a bit to erase them, but they don't stain the board, and even better they don't stain clothes! They are very washable!

I like this product because my daughter doesn't have to remember to put the cap back on and it doesn't make quite the mess that dry erase do when she graps the marker tips. What I don't like about it is that it takes a little bit of elbow grease to rub off. However, it comes right off with dry erase spray white board cleaner. - Crayola - Dry Erase Markers - Kindergarten - Childrens Art'

Kayak Paddle 92 Inchs - boating, cheap

We bought these because they can be used as two canoe paddles or put together and used as a kayak paddle. On the plus side they seem to be sturdy and well made. On the negative they're too heavy and the blades are not designed to use as a kayak paddle. The handles have no tee allowing them to dig into your palms when used as two paddles, so they are not useful as canoe paddles. These are going to the shed and we're buying another kayak paddle. Intex Kayak Paddle / Boat Oars

Although essentially the same as the Intex Sea Eagle oars, the difference is that the oars have two connecting pieces, the paddles, as sold here, only have one. This is fine for a kayak paddle but results in oars that do not stay in the oar locks. The connecting pieces on the oars keep the oars from slipping out.

I use this product as Kayak Paddles for an inflatable kayak. I am a novice to kayaking and probably have been using my kayak once a week through this summer. I use my Kayak Paddles on small lakes, large rivers, and even once on some Class 2 white water. For me these paddles worked perfect my myself and girlfriend. I looked at a lot of places and couldn't find any for less then $35 in the stores. I believe that these for $17 are even better then what I was seeing in the 35-40 range. So for a beginner that is most interested in just getting out on the water and enjoying the weather, these are more then you will ever need.

I just got the paddle, and here are some details of it:

1. It weighs 3.5 pounds, (so, this is not subjetive info; I read reviews here, some say heavy, some say superlight.

now, you can determine. I am a male, 5ft10in tall/160 pounds/strong swimmer, and it feels

a little bit heavy for a paddle in my opinion. So, if you are a regular female, it might

be a concern.)

2. The length of mine is 8 feet and 3/4 of an inch.(I guess there is a small variation for each one, but sure it is

a long sweet one. My kayak is an OldTown Dirigo 120, the

greatest width of the hull is 28 inches, so it needs a 96-inch

paddle.)

3. The connector can be adjusted, as a result, you can twist the angle of the two blades, which is a nice feature.

4. It looks strong and durable.

5. The two plastic blades are quite big, and the blade has a sutble curve, which is nice.

6. The price is unbelievable at Amazon.com.

Initial impression: Strong,a bit heavy, and big, great for males for sure.

I bought these paddles with my Sevylor Tahiti and was initially concerned about their strength and rigidity, But found them to be both strong and rigid. The connector that joins the paddles is simple to use and rigid, they double up as oars.

While this product is fairly inexpensive it performs very well. I've used it for my canoe and dinghy and performs well for both. With the ability to break down into two seperate oars it works very well for when both watercraft are being used at the same time. It is lightweight but still structurally sound.

These were the cheapest on Amazon for $17 each, free shipping when ordering two. They turned out to be perfect for casual use. Sturdy aluminum, secure connector to join the paddles which can be used separately. Hot shots may find them too heavy, but they float and do the job. Plastic paddle also seems sturdy. I also bought the Emotion Spitfire kayak, which I highly recommend, and they go great together. They even come with a carry bag.
