Nursing

My baby is exclusively breastfed, and I live in these tops. LOVE them! I bout several in a few colors because I wear them just about every day and night. The longer length is fantastic - built in bra provides support even to D cup mama. Great for wearing under regular shirts ....because when you lift the shirt to nurse, the tank keeps your belly covered. I wish I would have known how wonderful these were before baby was born - so I could STOCK UP! A "MUST HAVE" for any nursing mom (or mom to be)! Gilligan & O'Malley® Womens Side Sling Nursing Tank - Heather Grey L

This tank is an excellent length and fit and it very easy to open. My only complaint is the shelf bra. It is not supportive enough to wear without a bra, but with a bra it feels constrictive a lot of times. Overall though, it is my most worn nursing tank (I use as undershirt).'

Dragon Naturally Speaking - dragon naturallyspeaki, speech recognition

The progress in speech recognition over the years has been mind boggling. 1995 was when I first started using IBM Via Voice and you had to speak each word distinctly. Original Dragon product was called Dragon Dictate and then they changed it to Dragon Naturally Speaking in 1997 and I have been using it ever since, faithfully upgrading to each new version. At that time when you called technical support you could even talk to Dr. Janet Baker, the inventor of the speech recognition and founder of Dragon.

With version 4 they started Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical and that helped in that medical terminology was already included albeit several folds the cost of the regular professional Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Each version has improved the accuracy and they have not made the product unduly complicated or cluttered, as is the usual tendency with software upgrades. Version 11 of Dragon is slower and needs more resources, I could not run it in Windows 7 under Fusion and have to use it in Windows 7 under Bootcamp on Mac. The speech recognition accuracy is almost 97% in this version: it still stumbles on small words like two, to, too, 2; of, off; and, on; for, per etc. But upgrading from Dragon version 10, the improvement is accuracy is noticeable enough to make this upgrade worthwhile. Although program gives you the option of adding punctuation automatically, in my experience it does not work well and you are better off dictating punctuation. Tutorial videos that come with the program and on their Nuance web site are very helpful. In the past it really helped that you could print the commands and pin the sheet on the wall so you could reference them while dictating: not in this version, they do not give you the option of printing commands. But at least it was a pleasant surprise to see that Nuance has not ruined Dragon 11 like their other product Paperport 12.

Sitting in front of your computer screen you say "Search Hardware Compatibility on Nuance" - and out pop the results of your search in front of your eyes. The program will open your browser, search Google and bring the results on Nuance web site on your screen. For sure, you will be wowed!

Since it is going to be a while before the Dragon medical comes out, I decided to buy Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 Bluetooth which comes with PLANTRONIC Calisto Headset with USB Dongle - 81493-02. For general dictation the accuracy is fantastic. By letting the program scan my previous documents, I have been able to add a lot of medical terminology and save money by finding no need to purchase medical version when it comes out.

Previously they did not allow the option of using different accents in Dragon Medical but in this basic premium version you can and that has also helped improve the accuracy of speech recognition. So by selecting the Indian accent and adding medical vocabulary manually by scanning my documents, I have not only improved the accuracy but also saved money.

I purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 Bluetooth and the Calisto headset that came with it works really well. Although Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 with Digital Recorder comes with Philips LFH0662/00 Digital Voice Tracer 0662 , if you look at Nuance web site for accuracy of different recorders under "Hardware Compatibility" Sony ICD-MX20 Memory Stick Pro Duo Digital Voice Recorder is the only recorder that gets 6 stars and I have been using it with Dragon.

Nuance's marketing department is very lazy and they use the same cookie cutter boilerplate text for all the different Dragon Naturally Speaking product lines without differentiating them but if you search "Feature Matrix" on their web site you can find the differences in different lines. The very basic Dragon Naturally Speaking Home 11 cannot be used with a recorder, has limited correction playback ability, and does not share vocabulary with different audio input sources. Then they also describe Dragon Naturally "Professional" version which does not show up on Amazon, as of September 2010, but has the ability to record macros and programming VBA scripts. Most users will need Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11. The premium version has text expanding commands, for example you can add a command to insert your full address when you say "home address". I still cannot figure out whether Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 Student Edition has any less features or just a cheaper version of Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11. Looks like anyone can order it and you do not have to be a student. Nuance does not even give you the specifics of Digital Voice Recorder and Bluetooth versions in the product descriptions. What sluggard's?

The technical support from Nuance stinks - almost non-existent. If you run into any technical problems, you are much better off searching it on Google and using the expertise of other users in different forums. Don't expect any technical support from Nuance. Even their web site is disorganized and cluttered. They have all the information available on their web site, but just not obvious. Sometimes you have to search Google to find information on Nuance web site. Thankfully they appear to have some wiser voices in Dragon product development which are keeping their eye on the ball and have prevented Nuance from messing up the speech recognition accuracy and user interface of Dragon, so far. Another annoying thing they have started in this version is the pop up ads from software updater hounding you to buy their program Paperport 12.

For getting speech into the software, you have lot of different options that include corded and cordless headsets and microphones and recorders including PDA's. The whole list of voice capturing products is on Nuance's web site under "Hardware Compatibility" and they rate each one of them for voice recognition accuracy by number of Dragon's. Sony ICD-MX20DR9 32MB Flash-Based Digital Voice Recorder has the highest number of six Dragons. But following are what they sell and recommend and have good voice recognition fidelity:

A). Calisto Pro Bluetooth headset which comes with Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11 Bluetooth. But you can also buy it separately. In my experience it has the best speech recognition fidelity of all the microphones I have used, including Andrea. Purchasing Calisto Bluetooth as a part of Dragon 11 Bluetooth is a lot better deal that buying the two separately.

B). Philips SpeechMike - SpeechMike Air 3010 which is a wireless microphone but more expensive or Philips SpeechMike Pro Plus 5276 USB which has a cord. Advantage is the programmable buttons. I used it in QuickBooks Pro 2009 because the buttons could be customized for commands like next field, tab, correct, delete line, etc. But voice recognition accuracy is not as good as Calisto.

C). Dictaphone PowerMic II Nuance-Dictaphone that works with Dragon and they sold it previously only with their Medical and Legal versions. SpeechMike and Dictaphone recorders give you the ability to pause, play, fast forward and customize buttons for different commands. SpeechMike (and Dictaphone) are useful if you are going to use speech recognition in programs other than word processing or plain documents.

D). Voice recorders like Sony ICD-MX20, Philips Digital Tracer and numerous others which you can find by searching "Hardware Compatibility" on Nuance web site.

In last 10 years I have mostly dictated on recorders and then done the corrections at the end of the day in Dragon software. Real time correction can be time consuming and interrupt the flow of work; depending upon your line of work and accent too. Until now, I used SpeechMike 5276 for Dragon speech recognition in specialized software like Quickbooks, Quicken etc. mainly because it has programmable buttons - for example you can program a button to insert Ctrl-Delete at the same time. But now that Bluetooth headset is available, I have been using it with keyboard. At this time I am not sure if Philips SpeechMike makes you more efficient and productive than Bluetooth headset but it certainly is lot more expensive. Now that speech accuracy has improved, and the corrections do not take as much time, I have been dictating real time instead of using a recorder.

Irrespective of those dictation modalities, if you need to write a lot in your work e.g. journalist, lawyers, doctors, students, or for other projects, then you will not go wrong with this product. It will save you a lot of keyboard input and time. Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 - Speech Recognition - Voice Recognition Software - Voice Recognition - Dragon Naturallyspeaki'

Panasonic G10 - 1080p, panasonic g10

The P50G10 is my second HD Plasma experience, the first being a 2004 Panasonic, which still looks and works quite well. It has found another spot in our home to make room for the new G10 in our family room. When searching for and finally selecting the new Panasonic G10, I was comparing choices against this first experience considering both the manufacturer and the plasma technology. While I have a few smaller sized LCD's, mostly in the 20-32" range, I have never been overly impressed with the picture. The seem a bit cartoonish, even in HD mode, so I quickly settled on a plasma as my technology choice. Having made that decision the alternatives in terms of manufacturers narrowed quickly. Wh Pioneer exiting the Plasma business, and considering my experience with my original Panasonic plasma the brand decision was made. Selecting which model from Panasonic boiled down to scouring the 2009 product announcements and available reviews (CNET), and making the trade-offs on size, cost and availability. This all led me to the P50G10, which was a good fit on all points.

I have had the unit installed and working for 4 weeks now, and must say its been an extremely satisfying time. The G10 is a major step up, from my previous plasma, in terms of picture, inputs i.e. 3 HDMI vs 1, and ability to control each picture setting independently. I have tweaked the picture setting on the Standard and THX settings a bit to sharpen and brighten the picture a bit, but most of the other settings are very good out of the box. As the unit is stand mounted, and in a room with mostly indirect and overhead lighting there are no issues with glare or light reflection, from the main glass or its glossy black bezel.

In the process I also moved up to a Panasonic BMP-BD60 (will write a separate review on it) Blu Ray player and the 1080P picture is nothing short of amazing. As these are both Panasonic units they inter-operate with VieraLink which simplifies and automates the way the two units operate together, a nice but not essential feature. I setup a Wireless ethernet bridge (Linksys WET54G) to feed the VieraCast function on the G10, and it works flawlessly. At this time the amount of content available is limited, but one can see the potential, if Panasonic can bring more content services to this function. The G10 does employ a set of power consumption controls. There are both Input Idle and In-Activity based auto-power off modes to save on power consumption, which is good as plasma's are a bit power hungry.

To be balanced the G10 does have a few shortcomings. The sound from the onboard speakers is a bit thin. You can mitigate this some by pumping up the Bass control and turning on the Bass Boost, but its just not a rich sound experience. I think Panasonic can do better with some higher quality speakers and a small sub-woofer. I, and I suspect most others, have a surround system connected and utilize it for a better sound experience.

I also preferred when Panasonic placed the additional inputs into a trap door on the front of the plasma, the G10 has these on the left (facing) edge. To me it was more convenient and accessible to have these set of inputs up-front.

All in all, the G10 is a high quality Plasma with terrific features and future expandability. If offers a near perfect picture across multiple inputs and types of content. Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P50G10 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

I bought the TC-P50G10 three weeks ago, and am very happy with it. I did a lot of research and tried out a number of TVs before settling down on this one, so I thought I would share some of the information and my experience with the TV, and hopefully make your decision in choosing the TV a bit easier.

First thing first. According to my research, the Panasonic G10 probably has the best picture quality among all TVs in mass production as of the time of this review (May, 2009). Most importantly it has pitch dark black level, scorching brightness, high color accuracy, and good motion processing.

I chose the Panasonic plasma over Sony and Samsung LCD for a few reasons. (1) Compared to 120Hz LCDs, Panasonic is significantly cheaper than Sony and Samsung. (2) I think the G10 is better in handling motion than the 120HZ LCDs. (3) The colors on the plasma are more appealing to me than those on the LCDs. (4) It has superior viewing angle. It looks perfect from any angle you will actually watch the TV without washing out the color, prserving the quality of the color.

The third point on color appeal is subjective and calls for description of subjective experience. There are lots of technical comparison of the colors on different displays on the internet, but my perceptual experience is that the colors on the panasonic plasma is very vibrant, punchy, tantalizing, and mesmerizing. The colors look like things in real life, but they are more intense than real life. A friend said "it's prettier than real, but not distorted. It is just like an enhanced colorful world." If you prefer high fedelity to real life colors, you can use the THX mode to tune it down to be very faithful to studio color measures. LCD in comparison is also very vibrant, but it doesn't look as realistic. It's more like computer graphics and less like colors of living things. Technically, this may have to do with the deeper black level on the plasma than the LCD.

Before the G10, I had the Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ80U 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV. Both TVs have very appealing colors, but I returned the PZ80U and got the G10 because the G10 has a number of important improvements over the PZ80U: it has a brighter plasma display, has a VGA PC input, lower energy consumption, and more accurate color. Also, its frame is more compact, so I can fit a 50" G10 into the space that would only hold a 46" PZ80U. In fact, the G10 is brighter and more contrasty than last year's top model Panasonic TH-50PZ850U 50-inch Viera 1080p Plasma HDTV.

What else do I like about the TV? It is very bright for a Plasam TV. According to tech specs and online reviews, it is the bightest plasma ever made. In Custom Mode, it is more than bright enough to watch in my room with direct sun light (sun light in the room not on the TV). In Vivid Mode, "you should prepare to put on your ski googles". In fact, it's too bright and overly constrasty and saturated for regular viewing. However, it is quite useful in displaying low resolution and low quality online video such as YouTube or Netflix Instant Watch. The extra boost in brightness, contrast, and saturation make the low quality online video look much more appealing and lively.

VieraCast is kinda cool. Not a deal maker but certainly not a drawback. I used third party firmware DD-WRT to set up a Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router as a wireless bridge. So the TV can get online without running a cable to my main router.

I find this TV fits my needs perfectly. But no TV is perfect, at least not for the technically savvy.

So here are the cons:

(1) The sound is mediocre. It is fine to watch a TV show, but lackluster to watch a good movie or music show.

(1.2) True Cinema 24-frame mode flickering is perceptually disturbing because the refresh rate is set to 48 Hz in the mode. It is a pitty because motion does look much more life like and less video like in True-Cinema mode. Wish the TV could run at 72 Hz.

(2) My PC only has VGA out but no DVI out. (This point does not matter for those with DVI out on their computers. A DVI to VGA cable will work fine) The VGA input on the TV does not support 1080 HD. It only supports up to 1280x768. Panny should not cut corner here. Although this problem doesn't really matter for video contents because most computer video resolution is less than 1280x768. And the pixel interpolation effect on the Plasma is more like a CRT and less like an LCD. So the set is reasonably good at displaying contents with resolution lower than its native res.

(3) VieraCast needs improvement. The content is still limited. The search function of Youtube on VieraCast is not as easy to use as on a computer. The Amazon video on demand price is way too high (but this is not really Panny's problem). I wish a firmware upgrade would enables Netflix streaming.

(4) The remote is not as well laid out as the one on PZ80. The 3 big buttons above the directional keys are occupied by the rarely used VieraLink, VieraCast and VieraTool. The commonly used Menu key is moved to a small key. Totally wrong choice of ergonomics.

(5) VGA PC input is paired with RCA audio input. I wish it is a 3.5mm (1/8 ") mini jack instead, which will allow a single cable cable integrating VGA video and mini jack audio. Now I have to use two cables.

(6) The stand does not swivel.

Regardless of the above drawbacks, overall I find this TV to have the best picture quality and price combination. The pros by far outweigh the cons. The picture quality of this TV is truly amazing, as such some calls it "The New King of Plasma." Anyone seriously considering an HDTV should take a look at this one, now that the Pioneer Kuro exited the market. I use it with a PS3, the Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Entertainment System (Set of Six, Black), Denon AVR 589 receiver, and an Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna for HDTV over the air reception. It's a lot of fun to watch BD movies, play some games, and watch some TVS, stream some video on Netflix via my laptop.

I highly recommend it. - Panasonic Plasma - Panasonic 50 Inch Plasma - Panasonic G10 - 1080p'

Disc Doctor - cd repair, dvd repair

I have used the hand cranked version of product and its sister product the Skip Doctor to repair a few dozen CDs and DVDs. They have worked well in most cases. I use Exact Audio Copy to make MP3s. I have had disc show up with errors in EAC and then rip perfectly after a run through the Doctor.

The Doctors use a wet sanding technique to remove a layer of plastic over the whole surface of a disk to get remove scratches. It is not a spot polisher. The Doctors will not fix very deep scratches, but they will do a good job on light scratches, even if there are hundreds of them. Some times, even if a run through the Doctor does not completely remove a visible scratch, it will help enough to fix an error. You will notice that the disk will be covered with hundreds of very light radial sanding marks. These will buff out some with the included felt pad, but not completely. I have not had these cause a disk to play any worse than it was before.

Note: These machines WILL NOT repair Nintendo Game Cube games and other small form disks. The only disk I have had totally fail repair was a Game Cube game. Digital Innovations 10185 Skip Dr. Motorized AutoMax Scratch Repair System

I bought this to clean up all of my kids DVDs. They have a ton of discs that are dirty, scratched, etc. I have cleaned over 30 discs so far and have fixed all but one (it was *really* scratched up).

I am suprised at the negative reviews on this item since I have considered this one of my smartest buys this year.

I bought this to try to fix some of my child's scratched up DVDs. It works well, but you might have to run a DVD through multiple times. Example: DVD that had a place where it skipped/got stuck towards the end. First run through, the DVD was terrible. YOu couldn't even watch any of it. I came very close to writing a terrible review. I ran it through a second time and the DVD was returned to its original condidtion without the skip being fixed at all. I ran it through a third time and the skip was almost completely fixed. Slight mess up in the audio and a few weird pixels on the screen. So, I ran it through again and I think its completely fixed.

The Skip Dr. is one of those rare devices that does exactly what it is advertised to do (no DVD that has a scratch on the label side of the disk can be repaired, and some very deep scratches on a playing side may not be repairable--if the first repair does not work, repeat the process). Though operation of the device is fairly intuitive, the directions for use are clear and it is worthwhile to read and follow them. It's important to realize that CDs and DVDs aren't read the same way that LPs were, back in the olden days (okay, MY olden days--it's humbling to have to explain to your 14-year-old what a "45" or "LP" or even "an album" is). CD/s and DVDs aren't read starting at the outside and spiraling in, they are read in lines starting from the center of the disk and out toward the edge. This is important to realize so that you know why you should only dry and buff a disk from the center outward, take the cloth off the disk, and do it again (from the center straight out, working your way around the disk. Don't swipe the cloth around and around the face of the disk or you will just create more scratches that will interfere with playback. Don't scrub back and forth, just wipe from the center out. Same with the buffing cloth. The Skip Dr's cleaning wheel cleans the disk in the proper direction, from the center out. It leaves "rays" that are like faint shadow-spokes radiating out from the center of the disk to the edge. These faint lines don't interfere with playback in any way. A drying cloth and buffing cloth are included. The procedure is basically spray on the repair solution, place the disk in Skip Dr. (which will start and stop automatically), remove the disk when ejected, dry it off, buff a little (don't go for a chrome-like shine--it's not important for reading the disk and if "new car shine" is that important to you, forget repair and replace the disk with a new one. This is a repair, not a reincarnation). I have used several manual machines over the years and this does the best of the lot--5 moderately damaged disks, all of which play without errors. Oh, and Disk Dr. comes with a lifetime warranty, but I believe you have to send it in its original box--so hang onto the box.

If you have even a noticeable scratch this will not repair it. It will clean up the light touch scratches a disc normally receives over time. It only comes with one wheel which will need replaced in a short period of time, as well as the solution which is mostly water anyway. Also it runs off of batteries as is and they are not included. However I tend to prefer things that don't plugin because I already have too many things that do.

I had a couple xbox 360 games that were unplayable. This did not help. It did clean up a few lightly roughed up discs though. I ended up buying a memorex circular disc cleaner/repairer though which plugs in. This also was not able to repair my 2 unplayable discs but I think it does a better job of buffing out light scratches normally seen on used games. Each buffs the disc in a different direction and Ive been told that this Skip Dr does it in the proper direction (from the inside of the disc to the outside while the Memorex spins in a circular motion like a record player while two smaller wheels spin (one for wet one for dry).

If you have a disc with a very visible scratch that is unplayable I think you're out of luck. For normal wear and tear I think this product is good. - Skip Dr - Cd Repair - Dvd Repair - Skipdr'

Hardwood Floor Nailer - hardwood floor nailer

I used this stapler to put down ~400ft^2 of engineered hickory flooring. It was easy enough to setup. The adjustable cleat has lots of degrees of freedom, but once I set it up, it never moved or required any adjustment throughout the job. I like that the safety won't engage when the clip is empty preventing dry-fires. The drive depth was consistent from start to finish. I have an adjustable regulator on the hose end and once I dialed it in, I never had to touch it even after starting/stopping over multiple evenings. Though the magnesium makes it light, it still feels solid and well built. I'm happy with my purchase. Bostitch EHF1838K Engineered Hardwood Flooring Stapler

Worked for about ten feet of BR-111 5/16" thick chestnut flooring before dying on me. Trigger wouldnt pull and nose was stuck in. My PSI was set at 62 pounds, the staples used were the ones that came with the kit and I set up the gun quickly using the supplied directions. Called Bostitch for support and they directed me to an authorized warranty center (Apollo Power Equipment in Niles Illinois) to have the gun looked at. Went there at 10:15AM and left about 11:30 with the gun fiddled with but NOT repaired. Called the vendor who sold me the gun (SpeedyNails) and they said they would not replace the gun and that it was a warranty issue. Took it to Pro-Mar in Chicago and fixed it in about 15 minutes. Got back to jobsite and used it successfully for about three hours before I had to leave for the day. I was impressed with how quiet it was and how the staples drove in cleanly and consistently. However, the safety button on the side of the gun didnt seem to want to stay in "fire" mode and clicked off with the slightest touch. It was quite maddening to have to pull the gun away from the work, flip the safety and then re-engage to the work to fire more staples. It should have a more clear detent position on or off. Hooked it up this morning and it died again with the same symptoms after about an hour and a half of use. I briefly considered frisbeeing it from the 25th floor. Bostitch is sending me another gun to replace this one and I hope it works better. I've never had ANY issue with my other Bostitch nail and staple guns. I will update this review after I've received and used the replacement.

I used this stapler on Bella Wood 3/8" solid hardwood maple. It was hard to find a tool that would work with this material. I tried a similar Bostitch stapler that used 20ga staples and one leg of the staple would curl up. The 18ga 1" staples with this tool worked perfectly through the new hardwood over 3/8" luan over 3/4" pine sub-floor. The tool is only setup to work down to 7/16" but I removed the protective plastic covers on the boot and it set the angle and fit right where it needed to be. The 80# air pressure worked well for my application and I did not have to set any of the staples manually.

I recently purchased this stapler to put down 500 square feet of engineered wood. The stapler is easy to setup for the thickness of the flooring and performed flawlessly. 2500 staples later my arm is still attached to the rest of my body due to the lightweight and ergonomic handle. Well done Bostich!

I bought this air nailer for a small 200 sf solid oak hard wood floor and i had no problems at all as long as you set the fences to the right hight for what size boards your using it was very easy to use and sank all the nails to the proper depth

This gun makes the job so much easier.

I did 140 Sq Feet in 4h. on my first project. It is little hard to hold the gun tight to a panels, but plastic block make a great push block for the floor panels. Take little of my time to adjust the foot, but after good setup not a single misplacement of staples. I will buy this product again 100%.

The quality of tool is great, and design is great, when I used with 1/2 solid bamboo nailing to 3/4 OSB the 18 gauge staples had a hard time, they kept curling up, and some cases curled up through the floor itself, did not set good at all. I am going to try the MIIIFS with 15.5 gauge staples to see if it will perform any better. 18 gauge staples are just too thin for this application.

Easy to use, which was good, since there was no manual included, and I purchased a brand new unit.

Works very well, although I had to purchase shorter staples; I installed bamboo engineered flooring, and there didn't seem to be enough power to drive a 1 3/8" staple, but I think that was more a function of the bamboo being very hard wood. The staple would go 2/3 of the way in, but then the top of the staple would crumple on top of itself. My compressor would only go to 120 pounds of pressure, I think higher pressure would have taken care of this in one shot.

The flooring is a click together system, and didn't need staples, but I really wanted the floor to feel very solid.

This tool works great. Just layed about 500 square foot of flooing without any issue or trouble from the Bostitch stapler. I think the bad reviews that customers have wrote about this product is a classic case of, YOU HAVE TO BE SMARTER THAN THE TOOL YOU ARE WORKING WITH. - Hardwood Floor Nailer'

Challenger - inflatable, inflatable boats

I'm a student who has barely any money for fun things, so I decided to buy a kayak so I could have a lot of fun with just a one time "fee". It's perfect for being only around $80.00. I have no complaints since it's my first kayak and I have nothing to compare it to. I do highly recommend buying a different paddle, the one included isn't too comfortable and efficient since it's on the short end. People who complain about it's "tracking"(going straignt while paddling) need to understand this is not a touring kayak made of carbon fiber. It's an $80 inflatable kayak. I've taken it out on lakes around 20 times so far in the last two months and have had only one leak. The leak was from me being dumb and taking it to the ocean where a shell made a nice little tear. This was easily fixed with the included repair kit. All 20 trips have been for at least one hour. Two of those were "long" trips(6 miles round trip). It holds up fine in strong winds and mild waves. On my second long trip the winds were 20mph with 30mph gusts and about 2ft waves. It's pretty fun and you definitely get splashed, here in Florida that feels good though. There's a good bit of space behind the seat to store items as well as in the front where your feet go in. It does include an inflatable "foot rest". I'm not exactly sure what it's called but it helps with maintaining proper posture. It deflates in 5 minutes and fits into a small 2x2 bag which fits perfectly in any trunk. I highly recommend this if you need a way to get out on some water but don't have the money or space for a "higher-end" model. Intex Challenger K1 Kayak

My husband I enjoy kayaking and once we saw the prices of fiberglass kayaks, we hesitated to buy. I saw this inflatable kayak on Amazon and showed my husband who told me not to get it because they would puncture easily and blow away or fill up with water quickly- he could not have been any more wrong. After purchasing two, we took them on their maiden voyage today and both of us were very surprised; they were easy and quick to inflate and navigated perfectly in the water. The material of the kayak is very thick and durable and I am in the process of having all of our friends purchase this item as well.

This kayak is a winner: excellent price and very good performance. I bought two of the one-man kayaks (one for me, one for friends and relatives). So far we have traveled 31 miles total spread across four separate river trips down the Rio Grande River (calm waters) here in New Mexico. I am 6'0" and weigh 190 lbs, and the kayak fit me fine. Others I have taken with me have ranged from my 6'2" son-in-law (length was OK for him) and a friend (205 lbs., weight was not a concern). The kayaks handled very well, and both trips were a real joy. Here are some observations:

- Inflation is very fast with the included high efficiency hand/foot pump. There are four air chambers, and the kayak has never taken more than about 4 minutes to inflate. I throw the pump into the kayak behind my seat when we take off, just in case I need to top up later (which I never have had to do).

- Storage and transport are a breeze. The kayak stores in a small, cloth travel case about twice the size of a briefcase. At 25 pounds, it is relatively light weight. Once I had to carry the kayak about 0.5 miles to get to the river, and hauling that weight was not a big deal. I have carried the inflated kayak a few blocks hanging it on my shoulder, and it was easy to carry.

- The bungee cord storage area in the front is great for carrying a fanny pack, water bottle, sandals, spare paddle, etc. Also, there was more storage space behind the seat.

- Maneuvering is very easy, great for river use. There are two small plastic skegs (about the size of your open palm) under the boat to add a little directional stability. The skegs are at the center of the boat, which allows you to rotate easily while still maintaining a fairly consistent non-zig-zag rowing pattern. If this kayak were strictly for lake use, I think rear skegs would work better, but they would also restrict quick turning.

- Buoyancy is very good. The kayaks tend to bottom out on sand bars when there is less than 6" of water. Primarily, it is the skegs that hit since they are located directly below where you sit. But, hey, 6" of water clearance is not bad.

- The included paddles are good quality, but seemed a little short (they are 86"). After my first trip, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought 96" paddles, which worked much better.

- The vinyl construction seems good. However, one of my kayaks developed a leak (and later a rip due to my stupidity in not following repair instructions). I have since fixed the rip using VINYL cement (available at any awning supply store). The vinyl repair kit included with the kayak should be adequate for any small leaks you put in the kayak. I feel confident the kayak will last a long time (especially now that I know how easy it is to repair even a major issue like a rip which I helped cause). However, I am not sure I would take the kayaks into serious white water.

- You will get a little wet with any kayak, so wear a swim suit or nylon shorts. In calm water, most of the water gets in if you aren't careful when you launch or disembark. Carrying a small hand towel is a good idea, both for keeping your hands and sitting area dry, as well as wiping down the kayak after the trip to clean off any dirt or water prior to storage.

In summary, I was extremely pleased with this kayak. It appears durable and has taken me on a few river trips with excellent results. Hope to use it for many trips to come.

Based on the many 5-star reviews here (with which I agree) I bought two of these inflatable one-person kayaks - and could not be happier with the result. My grandson (age 16, 6'1", 185 pounds) and I (age 62, 6', 206 pounds) carried them as checked luggage to Italy - where we used them to explore the canals of Venice. Compared to the $140 cost of a 40 minute ride in a gondola, the cost of this kayak is a bargain, even after paying the airlines surcharge for a second "bag." And, we were free to explore the canals of our own choosing, at our own (leisurely) pace. Even better, we were able to do this at night, when the city is utterly quiet, free of the competing boats and gondoliers - a truly magical experience.

The product arrives very well packed - inside a sturdy display box which fits very snuggly into the (second) packing box. You could easily check the unopened box as luggage, without fear of puncture damage in transit. Also, the product comes with a black, high-strength, carrying bag - a sort of "tote-bag" shaped like a large briefcase. While it makes carrying the kayak easy and could be checked as luggage, I'm not sure it would offer sufficient protection against the airlines baggage-handling system. Rather than run the risk, I used cheap suitcases, mostly to gain the advantage of wheels.

I did not experience the difficulty some reviewers cited. The oars worked fine - we marveled at how sturdy (aluminum pole with plastic paddles) they are, not at all flimsy. There is no need to get an electric pump - this sedentary old geezer had no difficulty inflating his kayak. The instructions are easy to follow - and DO have an obvious and effective warning against over-inflating. A couple of reviewers cited the unpleasantness of water dripping onto them from the paddles - and recommend a longer paddle. While I also noticed this, not lifting the paddle quite so high out of the water seemed to be the cure - although I am intrigued at another reviewer's information that paddle "rings" can be added (at minimal cost) to catch the water.

For our limited purpose, this product was a dream. - Inflatable - Inflatable Kayaks - Inflatable Boats - One Person Inflatable Kayak'

Electrical Safety - wiring, electrical

I cannot write a review for how someone who is a professional electrician would look at this book; I am a fairly decent handiman, but know very little about electrical wiring. I own a home that is in desperate need of electrical updating - the existing wiring dates back to the 1920s. After having an electrician appraise the job at $7500, I thought I'd look into seeing how much of it I could do myself, and so in order to learn about what I can and what I cannot do, I decided to buy this book and educate myself.

I didn't want a book that had a couple of little tricks here and there. I wanted a book that sat me down and explained all the way from the beginning just what electrical wiring is all about. I didn't want a professional electrician's manual, either.

And so, to those ends, this book is absolutely on target! I have already learned a huge amount of stuff in just the first two chapters, which I'll probably have to go back and re-read because there's just so much there. But it is presented so well, and although it talks about very basic stuff, it doesn't treat the reader like a dummy.

The color photographs and diagrams are fantastic, too.

After the first sections that take up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the book, then it gets into specific tasks, such as pulling electrical cable, how to do wiring diagrams, step-by-step instructions for wiring boxes, wall sockets, light switches, etc. It even gets into some advanced stuff at the end.

So far I'm very well pleased with this book. If I can get a lot of this work done - such as pulling the cables through the house - I will be able to then get the professional electrician to come in to finish off the job with the real hard and tricky stuff. I hope that this will end up saving me thousands of dollars. Very sweet! Hardie Board Gauge - siding tools, siding gauge

What a time saver! Hung 12 foot pieces 15 feet off the ground solo!

Very well built. Clip them on the already nailed siding pieces and place the new piece of siding on the Solo siders, adjust alignment & nail. Once you get in the swing of things it can go quite fast and these free up your hands to nail comfortably. One thing to be aware of is to remember to re-adjust the Solo siders from the 12 o'clock position (remove position)to your desired reveal position before nailing otherwise they are hard to remove after nailing. Glad I found them before starting my siding! SoloSider Siding Tools For Fiber Cement Siding And LP Smartside 3/8, Fully Adjustable Siding Gauges

First a little bit about myself. I'm very old-school and I hate change. I am the type of person that gets angry when Hitachi changes the color of their nail guns and I am willing to spend money on good tools so I don't have to buy a replacement down the road.

I was almost certain this tool was going to disappoint me. I mean it's bright green and has plastic parts which seems like a sure recipe for disaster. I figured I'd buy it based on the positive reviews and I could always return it to Amazon if it turned out to be worthless crap.

Now that I've used the SoloSider I have to say that it's one of the best purchases I've made during the past year. I used these gauges to put up several hundred square feet of 6.25" Hardiplank by myself. The design is simple and elegant. It's trivially easy to adjust the reveal to within 1/16 of an inch. Set up time is super fast and the gauges hold the siding very securely while nailing.

In short, this is a great tool. If you are fretting over the decision between this and the Malco gauges I'd strongly suggest you give these a try. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

I picked up this tool to help me side my home alone. It is easy to use and make the minor adjustments you need to make your job line up nicely. I found it saves a lot of time and I didn't have to put two nails under every piece of siding to hold it in place. The solo sider holds the siding nicely while you check the end alignment and the level. It even comes with a handy set of charts so you can set the lap fit your space.

I got these at the same time as I bought PacTool SA903 Gecko Gauge Hardie Board Siding Gauges NEW and by far the Pactool siding gauge is much faster and easier to use. The Solosider hook is on the top so you have to lift it up after the top board is on, which can be time consuming at times. Pactool hooks on the bottom and then you lift a lever that clamps it down very easy and quick. Plus, I have seen Hardie siding vary in size up to 1/8". With Pactool it does not matter. The only problem with Pactool is that it doesn't work with Hardie colonial which is 8" wide instead of 8 1/4". Why Hardie does this, I don't know. But Pactool gauges work with 6 1/4", 7 1/4", 8 1/4", 9 1/4" Hardie Plank.

I own both the SoloSider and the PacTool gauges. Both have their advantages.

-- the SoloSider is more versatile

-- the PacTool is a bit easier and faster for simple runs of standard exposure

-- the SoloSider will work when you're siding above a deck or other obstruction, when you can't get the PacTool under the first row

-- the SoloSider holds the plank more securely than the PacTool, no slips

You do need to stay alert, and be aware of which "o'clock" position you're on at all times, or you will put up a slanted plank.

If it's in your budget, buy both. Otherwise, consider what your normal work is, and buy either the simple PacTool or the versatile SoloSider, as appropriate. They are both good tools.

I have a 60 year old beach cottage with tongue and groove wood lap siding. I decided to reside the cottage, adding insulation and housewrap to improve energy efficiency and decided to use 8.25" Hardie plank. I can perform almost any DIY task around the home but have never taken on a project of this scope. With 2000 sq ft of siding, insulation, housewrap, all new window and door casings and trim - I was a bit concerned.

These Solosider are the most amazing tool I have ever owned. I cannot imagine hanging siding without them. They make the job almost idiot proof. Allow you to hang every board perfect - any length - any hieght - without the help of a second person. No need for scaffolding. You can also use them to make up for "out of whack" walls - adjusting up and down 1/16th" to make an even width board at last row.

I cant beleive they are not stocked at every Home Depot and Lowes across the country or that James Hardie hasn't bought the company who makes them and sell them with every job of Hardie Plank.

I found this shopping for a nail gun on Amazon and saw that working alone it was the best solution to hold the planks. What really sold me was that it adjusts to less that 4" exposure which is what I needed. Works simply and is very accurate and repeatable. With two people one was cutting and with this one was hanging and we had a very even pace and got a lot done quickly. Greate product.

I used the soloSider in combination with a qual-craft pump jack/work stand combination and sided a 1400 sq ft, 2 story garage by myself with no problems . Could not have done it without them. They show up on time every morning, you dont have to buy them beer. Fantastic product.

I was skeptical when I purchase this product...low expectations. Am I plesantly supprised! This guage works exactly as stated in the instructions. The fine tuning adjustments are perfect, and it appears as though the materials used to make the guages are very durable and will last for years. I had to let my siding installers go, and pick the job up my self. This tool made my life easier and removed a trememdous amount of stress over the siding job. "Wish I'd thought it up!"

Great tool...worth every penny. - Siding Tools - Recommended - Siding Gauge - Fiber Cement Tool'

Pocket Knife - pocket knife, small

This knife is great. It clips perfectly on the inside edge of my jeans pocket, and I use it many times each day for opening boxes, cabling packages, etc. It holds its edge for a very long time in between sharpenings, and, more importantly, it keeps its grip and doesn't move, fall off, or open in my pocket. I got my first one at a local store, which no longer carries Gerber knives. When I lost it by leaving it at a job, I searched high and low locally before I finally tried Amazon. Amazon's price was great and I loved the knife so much that I bought 4, just in case I lose one (or more) again. Gerber 22-41493 EVO Jr. Serrated Edge Knife

Having used mainly CRTK knives of this type before, I was somewhat dubious at the $15 price. However, for the most part, I haven't been dissappointed.

Pros:

+Very small size

+Good level of out-of-box sharpness

+Easy to unlock and sheathe knife with one hand

+Stiff opening action

Cons:

-Stiff opening action

-No way to hard-lock the blade open

What I dislike is the opening action - it is slow to open with one hand. Something I liked about the CRTK knives was that I could very easily open it with one hand. I didn't even really need to use my wrist at all. The gerber is just stiff enough to make it an inconsistent thing to open the knife one handed.

Additionally, the CRKT knives have a mechanism to lock the blade open more securely, so that its more difficult to put the blade away accidentally. The gerber lacks this.

Overall, this is a decent product at a killer price. I use it mainly to cut cardboard, and it does that easily.

This knife has become indispensable in my daily routine. I've used it for cutting clay out of a backhoe bucket, opening packages, pulling weeds, and cutting cheese. It is easy to handle, easy to clean, and really holds and edge well.

The serrated edge is now essential to me. I really don't have any use for common straight blades that don't have that saw edge to work through tough stems or ornery boxes.

You won't be disappointed!

Unlike some people I like the clip on this knife. It allows me to carry it clipped to my right front pocket and it stays out of my way. The thin design and profile of the knife keep it out of my way when reaching into my pocket for spare change or car keys. I stopped carrying a knife for a long time because I couldn't find just the knife that I wanted. This one is it though. I've had it now for about three weeks and haven't had a need to re-edge it yet. This one's a keeper.

I won't repeat all the good points others have made about this knife, but one drawback I didn't notice anyone mentioning is that the handle surface coating is very low friction to the hand - almost slippery. It seems like a very durable coating but it has less grip than any other knife handle I've had (a lot), even cheap ones. The opening tab which is on the base of the blade once open, and some thumb grip grooves on the top help a lot, but still, a slippery handle is no good thing on a knife. Otherwise, it is a very sharp, quick opening, attractive knife with a high quality look and feel, and at the price, I would still buy it again.

Once I removed the pocket clip (which I can't stand; you'll need a T6), it instantly became my favorite daily carry knife. After some adjustment, I find the combination of the finger guard and thumb stud a vast improvement for one-handed operation over a thumb stud alone. The liner lock is an excellent, reliable design; unlike the ones on my Buck knives which can easily release while using the knife. Thin, light weight, sturdy construction, nice feel and grip. Highly recommended.

I used this knife specifically for my work in the military, and the clip is perfect to fit in my right front pocket. I could crawl around in the dirt, jump and run around and the knife would always still be there in my pocket. I used it for a variety of uses from opening food containers to cutting rope or sharpening sticks for building shelters. It's also so small and convenient that whenever someone would need a knife i could whip it out of my pocket with ease before anyone else would have a chance to reach for their leatherman or gerber on their belt.

The only downside to this knife is that eventually I did lose it because i attached it to the front of my vest and then lost it while crawling around in some thick bushes. I wanted to look cool because someone else was wearing their knife on the front of their vest but the clip wasn't as secure there and it came loose. I'm confident that if I had kept it in my front pocket I'd still have it today. I'm ordering a new one though, and I suggest you do to! it's durrable and rugged and sure to stay in your pocket. Even the handle part of the knife has small holes so if need be you could dummy cord it with rope to your gear, belt, or wherever you use it the most. - Pocket Knife - Small - Utility - Gerber'

Benchtop Drill Presses

Looked all over the internet, but the Amazon deal was the best. Good shipping and delivered exactly as stated in the buy. Took about 30 minutes to assemble, and use almost daily. Good to have a great drill press. Buffalo Tools DP5UL Drill Press

Purchased this drill press and received it two weeks ago. Delivered to my PO Box in Hawaii via USPS. Package was damaged as was the motor cover and the pulley cover. After a little "body & fender" work, all was OK. Depth gauge was missing a nut, but discovered it was SAE and not metric, so I had a spare in stock. I called the help number and they were very responsive. They are located in St. Louis (drill was made in China, of course). I have used the press several times, and it works well. It is a small drill press, but it fits my needs.'

Electric Muscle Stimulation - electric muscle stimulation, abs

I know the way these products are advertised make you think that they will make a fat person thin, but they don't. It gave good ab definition, but left the layer of fat until i worked out. It did speed up the process giving better and quicker ab results than I normally do when I only work out after a good winter hibernation. Before I had a little roll by my lower abs that I could never get rid off and now it's gone. It didn't happen overnight, been using it regularly for the past 2 months. Really saw results after 3-4 weeks, but started working out daily after the second week of owning. Ab workouts also felt easier.

Other info you should know that I couldn't find much info on before buying... The gel pads (I found) do have to be replaced every 35-40 uses. It also really helps to shave the abdominal area where you are using the pads as it improves pad life and effectiveness. I remember someone saying that the charger plug is flimsy; I didn't find it to be flimsy at all. It uses a SATA type connector that you would find on a computer or hard drive.

I would like to find out from anyone if the connector works on the bicep tricep attatchment. Slendertone Unisex System Abs Toning Belt

I have used the belt now for a month and lost 1 1/2" from my wasit and 2 pounds.

The belt is well made and has lots of power.

I have notice a difference and recommend this product.

You can also use it on your back. It feels so good.

I've been using this product for a little over a month now. It works just as stated, and I LOVE IT!!! It definitely works the muscles, I can currently only use it up to 80.

I also got it because I have serious sciatic nerve issues, and I read the review of someone saying it felt great on the back. That's an understatement. This worked those muscles so well, it relieved the issues I had the day I got this in the mail, and they haven't returned since.

I'm not using it to get ripped, as I have a layer of "Mommy Tummy" that will forever be there. But I do love that it's helped firm things up quite well. I think my next purchase will be the arm attachment.

The only thing I can see some people might have a problem with is the tingling, vibrating feeling when it's shocking you. Although, this is a LOT less that I thought it would be. Also, I'm still using the same pads. They work just fine after a month. One time last week they were a little less sticky than usual, but I gently cleaned them with water and a touch of dish soap, and they came back to super stickiness!!

If you're concidering this product, get it....it really works.

So, I was very skeptical, but after the first two weeks of use, I am seeing a difference in muscle tone. The system is well-built, and the contoller looks/feels of a high quality. Charging it can be a bit strange. It likes a full charge of a few hours. Nothing less; nothing more. Once charged, it'll go about three sessions. If you try to recharge after one session, you'll get an error on the charger. No biggie. The belt is comfortable to wear and simple to operate. I've already recommended one to a friend.

Im using the belt as I type, which i love. I can burn calories and build muscle while i do the things i need to do in life. There are also day when u just feel lazy and unmotivated, this is perfect for those situations.

The product really works. As someone to lifts weights 4 times a week I can say that this is is really effective. I find it really hard to get sore bi's and tri's the day after the gym. After using the arms version of the belt my arms was the sorest its been for years which tells me that its working. When i do flys for example i like to squeeze at the top of the lift, this products feels alot like that feeling. I have been using it on my back now too its great for the lower back and lats. I will be getting another belt so i can train my back and abs at the same time.

If i had the time i would go to the train 7 days a week and now I can without sacrificing too much of my life.

For those ppl who dont excercise. this is better than nothing.

For those ppl who already train. this is a great suppliment.

For ppl expecting miracles. Looking good and getting fit takes time, disclipine and effort. Your not going to get there overnight no matter what you do. Pll who expect that after years and years of doing nothing and over eating to get a six pack and massive muscles in weeks are just kidding themselves.

Bought this along with two pad replacements. I was only able to use it once, I could feel the current through all pads, middle, left and right. After one use only the right pad would work. I have re-charged it, changed pads and cleaned the contacts with no joy. The only other time I lost money that fast was at a casino in Las Vegas. It's your call...

This is a great product to help boost the shaping of your ab muscles. It isn't a miracle product though and working out and ab crunches are needed. This is best for people who already have fairly good abs, but need that extra boost to help give them the shape and tone they want. I do pilates and regular cardio exercises along with using this product. It is a weird sensation at first, but you will get used to it.

the ab belt(is that its name?) actually works. This isn't for someone that doesn't workout expecting to get ripped. I bascially goto the gym 2-3 times a week and have just started using this. I will say it can be a bit painful bascially having to tense up your stomach every 5 seconds while getting shocked at the 70 setting so far. I have noticed my stomach is automatically sucking in now afterwards. And to the guy that said the connector is flimsy. Are you mentally challenged?? the little metal hinges snap in and are secure. I honestedly can't see how this guy had a problem with it. A bit mental maybe. - Abs - Electronic Ab Workout - Abdominal Trainers - Electric Muscle Stimulation'
