Lonely Planet New Zealand - new zealand guidebook, travel to new zealand

This NZ guidebook is of a similar vein to the very-popular DK (Eyewitness)New Zealand (Eyewitness Travel Guides) NZ guide. Both books are full of color glossy photos of all the main NZ attractions and spots...but neither book gives you the essential details as how/when/how much/exact driving directions. Both Natl Geo and DK are sort of "primers" on NZ--both are somewhat like a compendium of colorful rah-rah tourism brochures.

That said, I think the DK book is better at what it does than this book. I've looked through them both very thoroughly, and while Natl Geo does have some info that DK doesn't go into depth with, I feel that the DK book has better photos that bring to life the country in a more appealing manner, and DK does a better job "fleshing -out" the tourism hot spots than Natl Geo. Both books are full-color, and thus very heavy to lug around NZ.

Neither of these books is similar to either Lonely Planet nor Rough Guide. Both those books are full of detailed minutiae about NZ restaurants, lodging, historical bits, tours, ferries...and all other commercialized info.... whereas Natl Geo and DK are about a colorful overview of NZ, without the details that a traveler NEEDS when actually in New Zealand.

I've spent the past 5 summers in New Zealand writing and photographing guidebooks. After looking through the Natl Geo offering extensively, I still would recommend the DK guidebook to plan an initial trip to NZ...but then also plan on needing a better on-the-ground guidebook or two for when you are actually in New Zealand. Hope this helps! National Geographic Traveler: New Zealand

We thought the maps, pictures, and content gave a great overview of New Zealand. This book was perfect in helping us plan which regions we wanted to visit and how much time we wanted to spend in each region. We found the section with recommendations on food and lodging to be a little weak, so we have relied on other tools, such as [...] and the Lonely Planet book to fill that niche.

I didn't give it 5 stars because the cover was "rubbed" looking, but otherwise beautiful pictures and all. I bought it as a gift for my aunt and uncle who are going on a cruise to australia and new zealand. - New Zealand Travel Guide - Travel To New Zealand - New Zealand Travel - New Zealand Guidebook'

Dewalt

I bought this for my 12V impact driver which I like a lot. The battery worked when I initially used it and the first time I tried to charge it, the charger indicated a bad battery pack. Unfortunately it was a few months before I figured this out and now I need to send the pack to DeWalt for service. DEWALT DCB120 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion Battery Pack'

Spot Treatments - spot treatments, acne gone

This is the only stuff that works for me. I have had acne since I was a teenager. I still have it, and I'm 31. If I consistently use this, it pretty much takes care of all my acne. I am not an extreme case, but I average about five or six noticeable pimples on any given day. This reduces them down to a minimally noticeable two or three.

I have dry/combination skin. If any of you have skin like mine, here is my acne advice. Hot wet washcloth scrub every morning and night. Use moisturizer with some alpha hydroxy. When you have dry skin, it is important to exfoliate because flaking skin will clog your pores and cause the acne. But don't be too harsh. Change your pillowcase! If you have long hair and don't wash it at night, put it back in a ponytail before going to bed. Exercise. It helps circulation under the skin and destresses. Stress can also cause acne, so find other ways to destress. Drink lots of water and get good sleep. I've also found that vitamins and fish oil pills help.

And please please use this product. Murad by Murad: Murad Acne Spot Treatment--/0.5OZ

Let's face it: most high-end products are worthless, they have the same ingredients that middle-range products at the drugstore have. Don't believe me? Check out thebeautybrains dot com. Cosmetic scientists tell us what we've known all along: high end products are no different than mid-range ones.

That said, sulphur is a new component of acne care that's just coming into the mainstream now. While benzoyl peroxide is far better at clearing up acne than salicylic acid is, neither have the spot treatment or weekly mask abilities that sulphur has. Murad is the only spot treatment I've found with sulphur; I also often use Proactiv's refining mask, which also has sulphur in it. Murad's spot treatment works like a dream. If you get it on the skin around the acne, it won't burn and peel, like using 10% benzoyl peroxide spot treatment would. It shrinks the pimple without sucking it dry, either. Be sure you shop around for the best price, too - I got mine for $9, with shipping, on ebay. It looks like it's a lotta money, but the spot treatment is runny - this will last me years, or until it goes rancid.

I picked this up in a store without having read any reviews, I just needed something for on-the-spot treatment. With a little bit of commitment this stuff can change your acne outlook! It says you can use it 1-3 times a day, and I have been. What's most effective is using it at night before you go to bed. It's a sulfur-based product (which complements the salycic acid wash and pore therapy I use [Obagi]) and doesn't cause the skin to dry out for me. I use it in the early afternoon, evening, and then right before bed. Before bed I always pile it on on zits instead of rubbing it in. In the morning you might have some crusty stuff but it washes or peels off (and doesn't stain sheets and pillowcases like I've read with some benzoyl peroxide solutions). It doesn't make them disappear overnight but greatly reduces them, and helps them disappear in a day or two. This works well for zits that are under the skin and whiteheads. Not sure how it would work on blackheads.

I have normal to oily skin and am experiencing nasty breakouts since stopping birth control a few months ago.

Another tip, I always wash my hair and pull it back before bed to keep it off my face.

I rated 4 stars because of the high price. I think it's worth the investment and will last a long time though.

So i'm a teen in highschool and there is no way to stop breakouts; there gonna happen. But when they do happen I love to use murad products because there really gentle. My skin isn't that sensitive but it can get red sometimes when i over use multiple products a day. I was using the murad 30 day acne complex and everything in there was great but the spot treatment was amazing! You can actually feel it working and in ten minutes the blemish will be BARLEY red. Use it 3 times daily and it will be gone, not a dried up acne scar; but actually gone. I probably was a little obsessive over it because this was the first thing to go out of my control kit, partly because it came with the .25 oz one. It is really expensive plus the oz is about half as much as drug store ones for about 3 times the price. But sulfur works great and if you are a teen i guarantee it will work!

Amazon is the best place to shop, best prices and quickest delivery. This Murad Acne Spot Treatment is an excellent product for any type of breakout, I couldn't find any other product that works so well..and I do try a lot of products. I broke out horribly when my landlord sprayed her garden and MY ac unit, it looked like chicken pox all over my face, I was really fearful I would be scarred for life, then I tried this product and after 1 week, it all cleared away and I am as beautiful as ever!! I keep 1 in my purse at all times.

I stopped to use it because: first, it does not help at all. second, When I woke up in the morning I noticed that on the same place where I put a creme some new acnes appeared. Cannot return as I did not save an original package. Waste of money - Acne Gone - Murad - Spot Treatments - Blemish Control'

Color Printer - multifunction printer, scanner

OK, I would actually go for more of a 3 1/2 star rather than a 3 or 4. (UPDATE: I would go with more of a 4 1/2 after a week of use and getting used to how this works and figuring in how it fits into the home.)

First off this is a home device. This is not something that you want for an office. That being said, if you have it in your mind that this is a device for the home, then your perceptions of this will change.

Also this a hybrid device, so as such, you really have to look at each part and see if they are worth it.

The printer sans touchscreen. The printer itself can be used to Scan, Copy and Print, all wirelessly, and with a built in double sided printing module. The prints seem to look good and it prints fast. Photo prints looked fairly good as well. Replacement ink cartridges run around $10 for the regular capacity (bout 300 prints) to around $27 for the XL (about 750 prints). I do like that each color has its own cartridge so you only need to replace what you run out of. I can even use the HP iPrint app on my iPod touch and print PDFs, and photos from there. I can also scan directly to the iPod using the App. When Apple does the Airprint in the new iOS 4.2 it should also support printing from many more apps. What was especially neat was that when I used Docs to Go and choose to open a PDF from there in the iPrint app, I could print it. The printer also has the ability to use the ePrint feature without the tablet, which enables just about anything sent to a specific email address for your printer to print. Say you were at a local hotspot reading an article that lets you email it to somebody . . you need to go and want a copy of the article for some reason . . just email it to your printer and when you get home it will be there in the paper tray waiting when you get home. Overall, I would compare this to other $200 to $250 dollar printers out there for this functionality. However while I'm doing all this, somebody could be using the tablet to browse the web.

Which leads to a brief review of the tablet itself. Now I've used an iPad and let me tell you this is no iPad. That being said, a better comparison would be other $150 android based tablets out there that are this size. (UPDATE: I would compare this more with a NOOK with some extra bells and whistles - I talked to a manager at the local staples about it. He stated that he was just at a conference where the HP rep indicated it would have more android capabilities towards the first part of 2011).

It has the standard Android buttons, headphone jack, volume up and down, power, a mini USB port, and SD card slot. The screen is like that of an iPod or iPad in that it is based on the touch receptive glass (not sure of the fancy technical name for this). Yahoo and Barns & Noble must have paid a bundle as it is very centric to them, which is a annoying at first, but you can actually remove or at least hide some of this by customizing your home screens and favorite apps. Also if you start thinking of it as a 7" Nook with some extras then you'll be happier. Fortunately there is a generic email client under the hood so that you can set it up with something other than Yahoo Mail (almost returned it right there). I have it set up for both my wife's and my Gmail accounts and we can switch accounts easily to see our mail. There are a handful of apps built in that are nice such as QuickOffice for viewing MS Office files (no editing tho) and PDFs. There's also a calculator, web browser, RSS News feader (limited though),and a Facebook app that I like better than the one on my iPod Touch. There are also a number of other apps that are not the Print Apps. I Would like to see a Twitter App, and a YouTube App as well as some simple games like Sudoku, or even a (cough cough) a Kindle App.

HP has it's own custom Android skin and you can only download apps that it has listed. Most of which are the ePrint Apps as they call them. There are lots of these for all the different holidays, kids activities, recipes, etc. When you consider this a home device, these apps can be nice to quickly print off an activity for the kids to do if they are driving you nuts and none of the coloring books you have are good enough for them as . . oh sorry . . .let me get back on focus. I've never been a big facebook user, mostly as I don't care enough to take the time to turn on my computer and I don't care for the app on the iPod. I've actually check my facebook a couple of times this weekend and even replied to my sister for once. Anyway. the device can be a bit sluggish when using the web browser or news headline apps, but seems fairly responsive in the email, facebook, reading ebooks, and eprint apps. You can also print from the device when it's not docked, and control scanning as well. By the way, YES you can scan photos directly to an inserted SD card slot. This can be handy when grandma comes by with photos she's taken and didn't think about getting you a copy or getting you the digital file. Just pop'em in and scan them to the SD card. No need to turn on the computer.

When the tablet is connect you can then do eFax as well. No remember this is a HOME device and not an office device. Because you can send/receive 20 faxed pages per month for free. After that you can still do more, but there is a charge for it. That being said, in the past 2 years I've rarely sent or received and faxes. Only when we were taking advantage of the lower rates and decided to refinance our house. I probably went over, but there is no phone line where we have our printers set up and with the previous print/scan/copy/fax, I would have to pull a very taut phone line to it, make sure the kids weren't anywhere around to run it to the line and knock it all over, and pray that it would work. For me the 20 page monthly limit of efax is a non issue and is actually a plus. (UPDATE: I was also looking at Windows 7 and there is a built in fax application there. I can plug my laptop into a phone line and scan wireless the documents as a PDF and attach them to the fax. I little bit more fuss than using a doc feeder as you scan each page separately BUT that's all I really need.)

Would I buy this for an office? Absolutely NO.

Would I buy this again for the home? Probably. Mind you, I've only had this two days. I like what I've seen so far, but I still feel guilty about spending this much money. It is really cool tho. (UPDATE: Yes I would buy it again, provided I like the idea of getting a bundle of the Printer with essentially a powered up Nook with some extra capabilities.)

(UPDATE: After using the printer several days I was having a problem with ePrint from HP saying that the printer wasn't connected for email printing even though everything worked in my house. After reading the forums, I ended up disabling the power saver using the IP address for the printer in my home network. Then turning the printer itself (not the Zeen) off then back on and it has been up and running since. Seems like this is a problem with the printer going to sleep and HP's servers not being able to wake it up to print remotely. But I have it working now so that's a relief. Seems this a problem that effects ALL the HP printers capable of ePrinting and is not specifically a problem with this printer.) Lcd Tv Wall Mount - wall mount, lcd wall mount

I am using this for an ASUS 26" 21 lb monitor. After reading the previous review I was very careful to follow the installation instructions which are adequate but leave a few details out. First, when you mount the thing to the wall studs use a level on the side of the base or it will probably end up slightly crooked. Next, the included allen wrenches are not discussed but are for tightening the tilt mechanism in the back. At first glance it appears there is a phillips head screw for that on each side, but not so. If you tighten the four allen screws mentioned above there will be no problem with the tilt adjustment. Having done all this I can say this thing is a real bargain. It works very well for what I am using it for and I would highly recommend it, especially if you want to get your monitor off your desk. Cheetah Mounts ALAMB Articulating Arm TV Wall Mount Bracket - fits VESA 100 up to 30lbs, best for 12-24" LCD LED Flat Screen Monitors and TVs

I just purchased a 19" LCD TV for the kitchen. Because it was high up on a shelf, the viewing angle was too much and the picture looked bad. This TV mount was just what I needed to allow the TV to tilt forward to minimize the vertical viewing angle. The price was very reasonable, shipping was fast and they were very willing to help me pick out just the right mount.

The item above was misrepresented by the seller. It did not fit a 22' television, hardware was missing. Not able to use. Sent an email to the seller. It was a week before a response was received. All it stated was to return. I had to pay to send it it back. After almost 4 weeks, I received an email that a refund was issued. This was after Amazon got involved.

I read some of these reviews and was hessitant to buy, but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" is what you get here... I weld and make a lot of my own items like this and there is no way I could ever make this and ship it for what I payed for it... I would buy this item over and over if I had more uses for it...

I would recommend this for someone who wants adjustability for more permanant situations... If you want to mount a TV in a bedroom to clear up space on your dresser or something, this would be good... Computer monitors, security monitors, etc. this would be great...

If you plan to adjust your screens often or expect the highest of quality, then this is probably not the item for you...

Also, not sure how these people didn't get thiers adjusted correctly, if you have basic tool skills you should have no problem mounting and using this mount...

The item claims it will accept a 32inch lcd display, and this is not the case. I tried hanging a 32inch insignia lcd television (with a weight of 19.2 pounds). I had to fashion an adapter for the back of my television, that would receive the mounting plate. Once I had it hung, the television was simply too much weight for the bracket.

This is a bracket that may work on a smaller display, something in he 15-23 range, but I would not try it on anything larger.

It said in the description that it will work up for LCD displays 15 to 32-inch UP to 40 lbs. Mine is 27 inch so this is why I bought this.. I have a Toshiba 27" Beware as it don't even have the right screws or even the spacers to mount this TV very disappointing. Bad Information about product..

This is definitely not a sturdy mount. Not enough to support a 26 inch LCD screen that I bought for my daughter. It is impossible to easily adjust the angle of the TV and the screen hangs awkwardly lower than mounting brackets because of the weak joints. I am returning this. There are a lot of better options on Amazon.com

It's a cheap price for a mount, but it really looks and feels cheap when you get it. No instruction at all. Since the beginning, I've had constant problems to set the TV level and I've called customer service twice to no avail. This seems to be a common problem and I wish I had known how prevalent it is. Amazon has provided great customer service in allowing me to return it, but it's frustrating to have to go through that instead of it just working. - Wall Mount - Lcd Tv Wall Mount - Lcd Wall Mount - Lcd Mount'

Waterproof Camera Case - underwater, photography

What a wonderful alternative to taking underwater pictures. No need to spend a couple hundred dollars on a underwater housing case or a few hundred for an camera specifically made for underwater. Also don't settle the the cheap one time use under water cameras. These cases allow you to take beautiful clear pictures using your own digital camera. I needed a waterproof case for my Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Blue) and since I already owned a Dicapac for a another brand of camera I knew there would be no other choice for me than the DicaPac brand. This is a terrific way to protect your camera from water, sand and even snow. The optical lens sometimes interfere with the camera's zooms lens, just make sure to hold the lens from the camera's view. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Check out the photos I attached to the product page so you can see yourself how clear and beautiful the pictures turned out.

Here is something I found that was helpful since the description does not list the camera's that are compatible:

DicaPac WP410 Case will fit the following brands:

Canon Powershot:

SD10/20/30/40/100/110/200/300/400/430/450/600/630/750/700IS/790IS/800IS/870IS/1000/1100/S200/230/300/400

Sony Cybershot DSC:

S40/500/600/650/700/750/780/W30/35/40/50/55/70/80/90/150/170/200/300

Kodak EasyShare:

C533/643/653/743/763/LS743

M753/763/853/873/883/893IS/1033

I have listed only a few of the camera brands this is compatible with. If you want to see if your camera is compatible, visit the company's website which I found very helpful. Amazon's price can not be beat. DicaPac WP410 160x105mm Small Zoom Alfa Waterproof Digital Camera Case with Optical Lens (Clear)

I recently purchased this product for use in Hawaii and it worked as expected. I used it with an Olympus FE170. Like another reviewed said, be sure you seal the ziplock part completely. Then just roll up and seal the bag and you're all set. I was able to take some pretty nice underwater pictures while snorkeling, as well as out of the water while kayaking.

I only have one very small complaint. The neck strap is fine out of the water, but once you're in the water, it doesn't provide much security. I basically had to hold the camera at all times in one hand and navigate with the other, which is pretty easy with fins on, but it wasn't ideal. I'd prefer a more secure wrist strap.

And one tip, if you come out of the water to take a picture back on the boat or beach, be sure you dab any water off of the lens. I came back with a few pictures that had big water droplets distorting the images, and when the camera is in the bag and the sun is shining you really can't see the LCD screen on the camera.

So to sum up, I highly recommend this product. Just plan ahead. Once we were in Hawaii we didn't see anything like this at any camera stores. All they had were the $100 + hard cases that only fit certain models.

I recently received the two DiCaPac WP410's I ordered and, after checking one out, was pleasantly surprised that I didn't waste my money. According to the instructions I tested the "waterproof" claim and found it to be as they claim, provided the ziplock type of seal on the opening is closed properly. I made the mistake of assuming I had closed the opening where the camera is inserted until I double checked it just before placing it underwater in my kitchen sink. For testing purposes I had placed a small toy inside the pack since it was more expendable than my camera. After being underwater about 8" for around 5 minutes I removed the pack, shook off any small amount of water and while holding the opening at a lower angle I removed the toy as dry as when I placed it in there. Following the beta test the camera was next and had the same dry results. The only thing different this time was that I was able to take pictures of the wall of my stainless steel sink and my face from underwater. While the plastic is a bit thick and can be a slight problem turning any buttons to activate a particular function, pushing buttons is not a problem and you can always activate the camera in the mode you want ahead of time. There is a glass lens that covers the opening where the camera lens protrudes and I was happy it wasn't made out of a cheap plastic prone to scratches. I would suggest using fully charged or new batteries in your camera so you don't have to worry about changing them right away. Other than that I would give this a big thumbs up and can't wait for next summer at the beach (I wouldn't leave this in direct sun since this would no doubt create a greenhouse effect and overheat your camera). In the meantime I'll settle for using it to protect my camera from the rain and the high humidity of an indoor pool.

Used it over the summer and fall while hiking in wet situations and boating (it got dropped in the water) and it did fine for that- clunky to use but the lens was very clear- Snorkling this winter was another thing- while it maybe rated for 16feet ,that does not take into account the pressures created by strong currents and waves I ran into and a small amount of seawater got forced into the case through the screw on lens killing off the display on my Canon SD1100-which will actually still take shots- I just cant select any functions. Single Cup Coffee Maker

I bought this coffeemaker for home about 2 months ago and I love it! It is extremely convenient to be able to quickly brew coffee for just one person. The best features of this unit are:1. It has a built in, "permanent" filter which is a HUGE plus. No more running out of filters, EVER.2. It is fast. In just a couple minutes I can go from sleep to sipping coffee.3. It brews the coffee right into the travel mug. The unit I bought included an extra mug which is also a great convenience.4. It is inexpensive! The only downside I can see is that I would have made the travel mugs a bit larger, but that is not a serious problem. I would buy this coffeemaker again without hesitation.

Personal Coffeemaker

I read the reviews before ordering this personal coffee maker, and since some people had 'overflow problems' and some talked about coffee not being quite hot enough, I almost didn't get it.Glad I went ahead. First, I put a small tray under the coffee maker in case of an overflow...I also always use a No. 1 size Mellita Filter in the basket, which makes it easier to clean and may help with the overflow problem, since I have never had that happen.I use Folger's Classic Roast and use one and a half scoops with a regular size coffee scooper..I fill the cup within about 1/2" of the top and pour it in...put the cup in place, click the switch and ......perfectly hot, full bodied coffee every time with no problems at all so far...have used it about 20 times. It makes a great large cup of coffee and the mug has a very comfortable feel to it. This coffee maker comes in handy when you don't want to mess with a full pot and it is very fast. I couldn't be more pleased - well worth the price!

This nifty little coffeemaker is difficult to find in stores, so I was glad to see it at Amazon. It saved my marriage because my spouse doesn't drink coffee (hates the stuff) and there's no pot to clean. Even though it comes with a huge mug, the coffee tastes best when you use it with a normal china mug or cup, and with beans that are ground fine. I'm on my second one -- it lasts about four to five years in daily use. Not bad for the money. I won't drink coffee that's been sitting for more than five minutes, so the Brew 'n Go is perfect. If you're the only Joe drinker in the house, it's an absolute must!

I have had this machine for five years now so I thought someone might like to here a long term review. Mine does not have a stainless cup, but my cup is tapered like this one.

Pros:

1) Brews 1 cup (I'm the only one who drinks it).

2) Quick, about 2 minutes to brew and 5 to finish dripping.

3) Easy to clean. I have rinsed the entire unit several times.

4) No trash. Comes with a permanent filter.

5) Filter cleans easily. Just tap out the coffee in the trash and rinse.

5) Can be used with a timer. See below for explanation.

6) Takes up very little space.

7) Can be used with other cups. As long as you don't overflow the reservoir and your cup will fit under it, the cup will work.

Cons:

1) It is gravity fed through the filter so 5 minutes may be too long for some.

2) Be sure to line up the exit spout with hole. Once you get it you will see, but if you don't you will have coffee all over your counter.

3) If you grind you coffee to fine, you will get coffee grinds on the inside of the machine. No big deal as you can rinse the unit off easily.

Timer:

Once you activate the unit it will run until the reservoir is empty. The only way to stop it is to unplug it. However, if you plug it back in it will pick up where it left of. If you activate it with it unplugged, it will start as soon as it is plugged in. Therefore, if you want coffee when you wake up, all you need is a wall timer (about $5 from many sources). Set the timer to activate in the morning when you want your coffee. Prepare the machine like normal, depressing the activation button. When the timer turns on in the morning the machine will begin brewing your coffee.

I recently read all of the customer reviews on this product and found myself laughing. Doesn't anyone know how to brew a cup of coffee? This product is excellent and I haven't had one single problem with my Brew 'n Go.I've heard that it overflows; that they can't pour the water into the unit; that the coffee tastes like rubber; that the maker turns on magically--or won't turn on at all; that coffee grounds get everywhere, etc. I think the problem must be with the users themselves. The first time I used this, I read the instructions beforehand, plugged it in, put my 2 tablespoons of coffee into the filter-- which is great I might add--filled my cup up with water, poured it in, added sugar and creamer to my cup, put the lid on, put it under the brewer, hit the switch, then had a steaming cup of wonderful coffee in seconds. I got to throw out my electronic mug warmer, too, since the coffee stays hotter longer. This product is great for people on the go, for people who only drink a cup of coffee a day, and for people who don't like to spend an eternity cleaning up!'

Garage Door Opener - remote, gate

As president of my Home Owners Association, the company that installed our gate handed me 130 of these to pass out among the residents. After half of them were out, the gate company told me that they'd not been programmed properly. Fortunately, they are a snap to program. Open it up. Flip the 10 toggle switches to the proper code. Close. Use. Runs on a 9V battery. Linear 3089 300 MHz One-Button Visor Remote(See Tech. Details Below)

I've had some issues looking for a replacement Multicode opener at the local hardware stores in the area. I tried 2 different universal remote door openers with no luck. Came across this on Amazon and thought, what the heck. It's the same brand and model, and somewhat same shape/style. I set the dipswitches to match my garage door and the thing worked on the first try. Good deal!

If you don't know your garage door opener's frequency or if it isn't a programmable opener, then this remote is not for you.

This remote does not scan frequencies, but has 10 little sliders on the inside to program it to your desired code. If you don't know your opener's code, then this remote is worthless.

I'm sure it works great for what it is made for.

Oh, and mine also did not come with a visor clip or battery (even though the description said so)

I bought two of these one button remotes and both do not work. The code was easy to set but I tried every way to make them work and I even tried on two different gates and still they do not work at all.

Buyer beware: This remote will not work with Genie garage door openers which use intellicode remotes. Make sure your opener has the programmable slider switch required for universal remotes before you purchase. - Remote - Garage Door Remote - Gate - Garage Door Openers'

i use this product because i trust the targus brand. as soon as i plugged it into the my usb port, windows 7 recognized it and within minutes i was playing the wii(through emulator of course) on my pc. the lil adapter is PERFECT. Ultra-mini Bluetooth 2.0 Adapt

I purchased this to upgrade my laptop that didn't come with bluetooth. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate...it took a while to install all the drivers, but after it was finished, it worked like a charm. I am using this mainly for transferring pictures and videos from cell phones to the computer without plugging up all the time. I definitely recommend this. Great price, works great!!!

Plug and play OK in Windows 7. Make sure your devices also have their latest drivers; some older cell phones, for instance, may need driver updating or you may find that they may not even be compatible with Windows 7.

Even the people in the local Verizon stores are ignorant about Bluetooth and how it works.

By the way, the firmware immediately upgrades the device to Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR.

Any problems I had were caused by my unfamiliarity with Bluetooth.

The dongle is small enough so that you can leave it in place all of the time; it can be turned off and left in place when not in use.

Jim

I bought two of these blue tooth USB gizmos. They came in minimal packagiing which I like but I'm still getting used to.

Set up was so easy a GEICO ad writer could do it. One is in an older computer and one in my laptop. My Droid X can find both to use as speakerphones. Conversely my computers can connect to my bluetooth stereo headphones for wireless listening to Netflix or Hulu.

Highly recommended.

The download of photographs from a Nokia cell phone to a laptop using the Ultra-mini Bluetooth 2.0 Adapt worked just like it should have. It is less expensive than purchasing the USB cable and you get the added bonus of a high tech experience.

I bought this for my laptop so that I could transfer pictures and files to and from my phone. I have Windows 7, and all I had to do was plug it in and start using it. I never even took the installation disc out of it's sleeve. You only need to use the install disc with XP or Vista I would imagine. Great range and tiny. Just plug it in and forget about it. - Dongle - Bluetooth Usb - Bluetooth Dongle - Bluetooth Adapter'

Portable Dvd Player Car Holder - portable dvd player car case, portable dvd player

We purchased this for long car rides with the kids. It attaches very easily (easy to take down if you go into a restaurant - just unhook and leave the DVD player attached, stick it under the seat) also easy to attach the dvd player. It does wiggle some but won't fall off, doesn't bother the kids and the dvd screen is adjustable so compensates. The only little pain is that when I swivel the screen to face me (to get it going for the kids) you have to tug on the elastic strap - it catches under the screen - no way around that really. ALSO - I actually installed it into the car backwards (on purpose!) so that the contols of the DVD face me, swivel the screen to face the backseat - works great that way. All-in-all was a very good value and much better than a pile of straps! We will use it for a long time to come. DvdDr 70200 00 Portable DVD Player Car Mount

I purchased the Mogo for a 15 hour road trip we took with our 2 and 6 year old kids. This product worked very well. It installs and uninstalls in a cinch. I feel it was definitely worth the money. The only issues we had was that it did wiggle a little with the car movement, but the kids didn't seem to mind. The other issue we had is that it did block the lower 1/3 of our rearview, but it did not bother us as we drove. We just used our side mirrors a bit more. Overall we were very satisfied with this purchase and would recommed it.

This DVD player car mount has a nice clever design - I like the built in swivel mount so that you can have the front seats set at different forward-backward positions and still keep the DVD player in a good viewing position for those in the back seats. The mount is surprisingly stable - it wobbles a bit with each bump in the road, but not as much as one might expect. The mount would be even better if: [1] the arms that hook around the front seat headrests were a bit heavier-duty (plastic-covered metal would be better than all plastic); and [2] if the DVD player could be held in place with a vice-style friction mount (which would enable much better access for loading DVDs without moving the bungee-type strap around) instead of the straps used to attach the DVD player to the base. All in all, an acceptable product that for the most part does what it needs to do but could be even better with a couple of design tweaks.

I think the reviewers discussing this product are actually discussing two different products. The one I received in early April 2011 doesn't swivel all the way around as one reviewer from 2008 mentioned, and even the picture on the box is different than the product inside - instead of the top surface of the mount having two smaller openings in between the rectangular openings (as shown on the box), there is a disk-looking piece between the two openings held down by five screws (see photo #2 in the Amazon description). I'm thinking the design must have been changed recently. The unit I received was called a Digital Innovations "SecureMount" on the box. Other reviewers seems to have the type of unit shown in the picture on the box, which also is the type of unit sold by Walmart under the Digital Innovations "Mogo" name. Originally upon receipt I thought the SecureMount design was defective because the arms were at a 30 degree angle and didn't seem like they could be moved into a straight line because they were caged in by plastic brackets on the back. I then realized the arms could be put into a straight line by turning the unit over and pushing the BACK of EACH arm (the side opposite from the hook) forward in the direction of the hook until the BACK of EACH arm is pushed through the plastic bracket that originally holds both arms. By doing this, the back of each arm can be freed from the plastic bracket and the whole disk assembly can be rotated into a straight line. After that the product works as intended.

This device is so simple to use/install, but works so good you'll wonder why it wasn't invented sooner. It only takes seconds to set-up or takedown and securely holds your DVD player with minimal `wiggle' (hooks on both sides secure to the headrest supports and a Velcro and bungee strap hold the DVD player to the pad). We recently used it on a 2,500 mile round trip and it performed without flaw or difficulty.

I would have to say that this is a excellent product. It fits snuggly between the 2 headrests (adjusts to fit any car headrests). You can turn dvd slightly if needed. Would definitely recommend this product.

I bought it. I tried it. I returned it. I placed it in the middle row of my Honda Odyssey, and the arms were almost at maximum extension, so that probably explains the lack of being solid and sturdy. For a smaller car, I'm sure it would be much better. Very easy to set up and get the movies rolling. Arms out! Dvd player in place!! Power up!!!

We installed this in our Ford Escape and it works great. The problem we had before was that we had one of those case holders that installed behind the seat or inbetween but it was just messy and it hung down after awhile. Also, our daughter loves to push buttons and she could reach it. Now we take quiet peaceful roadtrips without having to constanly turn around to fix the dvd player our 20 month old has been kicking and messing with. - Portable Dvd Player Car Case - Portable Dvd Player - Portable Dvd Player Case - Portable Dvd Player Car Holder'

Gigabit Ethernet Switch - netgear, switch

If you're looking for an affordable gigabit switch that doesn't suffer from strange auto-negotiation (speed/duplex) problems, this switch is for you.

This product is easily superior to the Netgear GS605, which may appear identical in functionality, but in actuality is not. The GS605 behaves very badly when it comes to speed and duplex auto-negotiation, resulting in incorrect speed being negotiated with Marvell, some nVidia, and some Broadcom PHYs. The GS105 does not suffer from these problems, proving the hardware in the GS105 differs from that of the GS605.

The GS105 also has an incredibly small AC adapter; it's no where near "brick" size. However, on a power strip that has AC outlets next to one another (horizontal, not vertical), this product will probably block the AC outlet next to the one you install it in. This won't happen with vertically-oriented power strips. Just a FYI...

The reason I ranked this product 4/5 stars is because of temperature -- the GS105 runs incredibly warm (borderline hot) for such a small device. Other users have reported the same issue. It's a minor drawback, but is worth noting for others who may wonder the same question.

If the temperature is a big concern, consider purchasing a Hawking Technologies HGS5T, which is identical in functionality to this product, runs much cooler, but has a larger footprint, and a "brick" AC adapter. NETGEAR GS105NA Giga Switch 5Pt Metal

I think this was the smallest gig switch I could find, so I bought it. I've owned several other Netgear switches and have really liked them. This one is no different - works as advertised straight out of the box, although a bit warm as many have mentioned (a Netgear feature). All ports are on one side, and I like the fact that it has mounting holes and hardware that permit you to hang it out of sight so all that cable mess can stay off the top of the desk. Mounted with the ports facing down, all cables come up into the box neatly so I didn't experience any cabling issues as some have mentioned. Two thumbs up!

I had a 5-port HUB (using 3 of them) across the room from my main system. When transferring files I got a steady stream of collisions. Really slowed down the transfer due to all the retransmissions.

The SWITCH was truly Plug & Play. Plugged everything in and it worked. It did all the address look-up and handshaking without human involvement. File transfers now run at full speed with no collisions.

Highly recommended.

Bought it primarily to connect 2 PCs and NAS, but also connecting Internet Router and Xbox 360.

Profs:

* Small

* Cool (temperature)

* Metal case (asking why this is prof? Because not smelly plastic like most others!!! And of course metal provides extra shielding)

* Excellent quality

* Perfectly works on 1 Gigabit speed

* Package also contains 4 rubber legs and screws for on wall mounting (if needed)

* Green. Up to 60% power saving (as declared on the box). Of course haven't checked by myself! :-)

Cons:

None so far

These switches are great when they work, but after a period of 2-3 years two of the three I've owned started having serious problems. Six months ago I noticed that while using my Xbox360 as a Media Extender - something I do all the time - I started getting a lot of "Network Congestion" messages and horribly choppy video while watching some TV shows I had previously recorded. This had never happened before, and I was pretty perplexed because I hadn't changed anything. I tried a number of different things from both ends (you name it, I tried it), but nothing helped with the issue. I eventually decided to eliminate the GS105 (initially just plugging the Ethernet cable right into the Xbox360 and then later using an old Linksys Gigabit switch I had) and everything has worked perfectly since. Unfortuntely, the issue returned a couple weeks ago, but I knew traffic going to the Xbox was going through another GS105 I had on my home network, so I replaced that switch with another one - I had to run out to the store this time - and I'm now back in business again. It's a shame about this switch, because they are quiet, sturdy, and inexpensive, but I won't be buying another one.

For years and years Netgear has been producing a line of metal enclosed unmanaged (read no need to mess around with configuration) network switches. This line of metal enclosed Netgear switches have a proven track record -- I've used a dozen of them over the years without encountering any problems.

This 5-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch continues this flawless track record. I picked up two of these 5-port switches to ensure that my newly wired-for-Gigabit house maintains Gigabit speed on my internal wired network, only dropping to 100Mb/s Ethernet when network traffic crosses onto my router and then upstream to my DSL modem and beyond.

The Switch is small and light enough to be stashed out of the way attached to the side of a desk with the included mounting screws. The switch has two keyholes cut in the base of the unit. If you carefully position the two included screws in a vertical or horizontal surface (to mount on the underside of a table) then the switch will slide onto the screws to securely hang the switch. - Netgear - Ethernet - Gigabit Switch - Switch'

Milk Substitutes

I am currently deployed to Iraq and this is one of two soy milks that I see and drink on a regular basis, the other being Edensoy. This stuff has a decent flavor, but is a bit chunky when poured into the cereal bowl. I attribute this in part to it being Iraq. Who knows how long the stuff has been sitting on a pallet in the sun. It still tastes good and is great. I only gave it 4 stars because of the soy chunk issue.

This chocolate soy milk is just delicious! I first tasted this milk while deployed in Iraq, and it was one of the things I missed when I came home. Lo and behold, ol' faithful Amazon had the stuff - and at a great price! (I have the subscription!) My husband, a dedicated milk drinker, loves this stuff too!

Pacific Natural Foods Enriched Soy Milk Non-Dairy Beverage, Chocolate, 8-Ounce Aseptic Packages (Pack of 24)

This chocolate soy milk has a creamy, velvety texture. Shake well and pour into popsicle molds and freeze for a delicious and nutritious frozen treat.

I use this as the liquid base for my fruit smoothies and as the perfect complement to a snack of natural peanut butter on whole grain bread or crackers.

Side note: As of this writing, the nutritional information on this page omits the Vitamin D content. As per the package, in addition to 40% Daily Value of Calcium, 8 ounces of this soy milk also contains 30% Daily Value of Vitamin D.

Nutritious and deliciously satisfying in a convenient single-serving size, shelf-stable package. Highly recommend!

My daughter switched to soy milk about 2 years ago for no other reason than she prefers the taste. For drinking at home we buy the brand she prefers, but they don't carry individual sizes so we had been looking for something she'd like. I bought these on sale to try out and she really liked them. We keep a weeks worth in the fridge and she grabs one to take to school for lunch. She says that the taste is very good with just the right amount of chocolate sweetness.

I appreciate that Amazon offers this product on Subscribe and Save. It keeps us from running out, keeps me from running to the store and also saves my family money!

As good as any soy milk should taste. Creamy and not too sweet. Less sweet tasting than Silk. I'm lactose intolerant so it's a good alternative. Be sure to shake well as the package indicates. The first time I tried this, I didn't shake it and it had chunks at the bottom. But nothing a shake doesn't fix. I use it for my daily cereal, smoothies and coffees. Love it!

This was a good value for the taste. It doesn't stand out, per se, but it is pretty good for some plain ordinary soy milk at a very reasonable price. No surprises, no bad flavor. Great alternative to regular milk.

I usually drink Silk soymilk and really like the taste, but it's hard to find plain soymilk in single-serving aseptic cartons. I like to put it in my hurricane box every summer so I'll have milk to put on cereal if we're out of power after a storm. I thought this Pacific soymilk would be just the thing, but unfortunately the stuff tastes like latex paint and it has no emulsifier in it, so it separates into liquid and clumps of solids at the bottom. Even after vigorous shaking, I couldn't get them to blend back together, and even if I could, I still couldn't get past the taste.

This was awesome! I drank Pacific Soy while in Iraq, when I came home i tried other soy milks but none of them tasted this good. The chocolate is always a good choice, but the regular is easy to love also, never had the vanilla.

We drink soy milk primarily in the summer as my family's stomachs don't handle dairy AND the Texas heat well. We've tried many brands before but I ordered this brand while on sale. This isn't a favorite and I probably wouldn't order it again. It's not very tasty and would probably do better with add-ins... not so good just straight. Yes we have found "chunks and lumps" as my son says. He won't drink this unless it's blended...defeats the purpose of having these small portable packages!

It's just OK, isn't one of my favorite soy milk drinks and not one I'd serve to company.'

Apple Ipad - ipad leather case, ipad

After searching and searching, studying reviews and grilling friends with iPads, I finally decided on this case. And I'm pretty satisfied.

It is heavy, but when folded over the suede feeling interior and the stand grooves allow me to have a secure hold. I also like the appearance of the stand groves and the fact that their design serves the purpose of creating dead space between the case and the screen in case something falls on the case.

The only nitpicks I have are the smell. I know the designers wanted a leather smell for the polyurethane but if it's advertised as PU a PU smell is okay. Also, there are some thread ends that look a little unsightly but they are easily taken care of with Super Glue. And, although I was able to put a screen protector on my iPad and fit it in this case, a longer velcro tab (that secures the iPad in the case) would be welcome. Fortunately the velcro is very good quality (read: sticky) but added peace of mind wouldn't hurt.

And lastly, please offer more colors than just black or red. If the designers came out with a nice dark brown I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these cases. Apple iPad PU Leather Multi-Angle Adjustable Stand / Carrying Case for Apple iPad 3G Wifi 16GB 32GB 64GB made by Gilsson (Black) SPECIAL HOLIDAY PROMO PRICE. Guaranteed The Best Case Stand for Your iPad!

I am a product manager at Gilsson Technologies. I was asked to write this review based on my involvement in the design, prototyping, production and quality control processes. We started with a goal of designing a series of versatile, protective, elegant/stylish and durable iPad cases. We started by surveying iPad users on features you would like and how we, as daily users of iPad would find helpful. We have scratched at least 8 prior versions of the cases, further improving the style, feel, durability, versatility and protective aspects of the cases. After 3 month of designing, prototyping, refining and testing, we finally released 4 versions of the Gilsson iPad cases with different features (in black, red and pink colors).

In this Gilsson Combination Adjustable iPad Stand and Case, we wish to give the professionals on the go, to have a stylish and protective iPad case that doubles as a stand for presentations, watching videos and working on the go.

- Gilsson case features the WRAP AROUND PROTECTION around the iPad:

An unprotective naked iPad is very hard to hold and very vulnerable to dropping, scratching, working and watching videos/presentations. Hence, we surveyed the existing iPad cases in the market with elastic bands or hard shell clips holding the iPad and noticed MANY BRANDS left the iPad UNPROTECTED at the borders. If someone were to drop the iPad, it would be likely for one of its corners or sides to hit the hard surface. How do we protected then ? We decided to "frame" the iPad in our PU leather material, a few millimeters AWAY from the perimeters, creating a buffer zone and additional cushion around the iPad to absorb shocks from accidental drops. The use of the wrap around frame substantially increased our material cost, as we had to cut away large chucks of the material for framing the iPad screen. However, protection is our #1 goal and we did not feel comfortable with the use of elastic bands nor the hard clips as in other brands of iPad cases.

- Custom cut-outs for all iPad buttons and receptacles:

We have created a custom frame with cut-outs for all the iPad buttons, volume control, on/off switch, speakers, power receptacles and ambient light sensor. One would be surprised by how many of our competitors' cases are blocking buttons and sensors.

- High Quality Stylish Materials and Memory Foam Padding. It looks and feels like an expensive iPad case.

As a part of our market research, we noticed many competitors using relatively cheap and thin plastic material on the case, giving a "budget" look. Hence, we searched all raw material suppliers and found some high quality PU Leather (imitation leather but it looks, feels and smells like real leather) and stylish anti-skid and dust free material for the interior. We were very pleased with the result, as the appearance is very stylish and yet protective, without costing a bundle for real leather material. Most of our beta testers had mistaken our PU leather to be real leather, as it looks and feels so great and luxurious. In addition to the high end PU leather, we also added memory foam to further protect the iPad.

- Versatility and Practical (by using expensive anti-skid and dust-free material and built-in ridges for optimal viewing angel):

This Gilsson Adjustable Stand / Case allows the user to place the iPad at various angles (at least 6 different angles), to type, watch video and give presentations, at optimum positions, by incorporating am expensive high quality anti-skid and dust-free material. One can stand up the iPad in the vertical orientation, laying down nearly flat, 4 ridge positions and the various angles on the anti-skid material. The result is phenomenal, creating a case that looks great and yet versatile and practical for every day use by mobile professionals.

- 100% Quality Check at factory

Unlike many factories only inspecting and testing 10-20% of production. Our QC team inspects EVERY case for any slightest imperfection in material, workmanship and packaging. We are confident that every case we send out to our customers are as perfect as we can make them.

The entire Gilsson Team invites you to try our iPad cases and see for yourself, why we are SO PROUD of our design, materials, style/elegance, workmanship and quality control. We are certain you will agree with us, once you receive our cases.

- Available in Black, Red and Pink colors

I was shopping for a case and decided on this one, because it was cheap for all the features it had. Although in the beginning I was bit leery that the quality may be compromised by the price.

Now that I've used it for a days now.I am happy to say that the quality is pretty good. I especially liked the thick ridges that props the ipad like a stand. Some other cases I've seen don't seem thick enough. - Ipad - Ipad Sleeve - Ipad Leather Case - Apple Ipad'
