Bathroom Scale

I changed my review from a 1 to a 5...here's why I am impressed. First, I had a Tanita scale; it told me my weight, body fat, water weight, bone weight, if my toe nails needed to be cut, etc. However, I could not read the display and as executive/non-athlete I did not need all this information. When that scale died, I went looking for a good solid simple scale. I liked the way this scale looked and the reviews on Amazon were good. Plus, the price was great. I got it right away, and it was great. Looked good, easy to read, and I liked the 0.2 denominations. However, unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. I went to return it on Amazon and posted a disappointing review. Then the most amazing thing happened...this really happened...about an hour after I posted my review, I was contacted by the company. They read my review and apologized that my unit was not operating the way that it was supposed, discussed their high quality control and that this should not have happened, and then they sent me a replacement right away. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They are family run operation that prides themselves on customer service and providing people with a quality product. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! There are so few of these good companies left. I was very impressed. I am a very happy customer again and will buy other products from this company!! I hope you will too. EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology

I am SO happy to finally have a bathroom scale that WORKS! My old Taylor scale was just crap. Seriously. I lost so much motivation because of that thing, it would give me different weights anywhere within a 5-pound "range" every time I stepped on it, so I never had any idea what I actually weighed, or whether or not my hard work was paying off. Drove me nuts!

Because of that, I put my new EatSmart scale through a lot of "tests" when I got it today. I stepped on it 5 times in a row, alternating between it and the old Taylor scale each time. The old scale gave me 5 completely different numbers, as usual, but the EatSmart stayed the same each time! I even tried putting the laundry basket on it in between weighs, to make sure it wasn't just "remembering" the last number. Nope! So then I tried drinking a big glass of water, and sure enough, the EatSmart registered a .6 pound increase. Fantastic! I'm so pleased with the consistency and accuracy of this scale. I'm feeling 100x more energized and motivated than I was yesterday, because I know now I'll be able to see the REAL results of my actions, good or otherwise. :)

The scale is very accurate. I stepped on and off multiple times, and always got the same number. Then I put on a light jacket, stepped on again, and it was up .6 pounds. Perfect! However, it is somewhat tricky turning the scale on. They say you're supposed to "tap" it with your foot to activate it, but nothing happens when I tap. The only thing that seems to work for me is if I slide my foot underneath the scale and lift it up slightly. This seems to turn it on, but it's a somewhat awkward maneuver. So I take off two stars for the difficulty in turning it on.

UPDATE (3/25/2010) since writing my previous review, EatSmart has updated their product and gotten rid of the need to tap on. They sent me a new version, and it really does work much better. It seems just as accurate, though there is a .2 pound difference between the old scale and the new (which really isn't too bad). You step on the scale, and it just works. Much better!!

When I finally decided to replace the old analog scale that I have had for the last decade I thought it was going to be an expensive and borderline painful process. After doing a little research, I purchased the EatSmart scale primarily because the large display was appealing (I have a very small apartment bathroom with one small overhead light) and the price seemed right.

I have been nothing but thrilled with this purchase so far. The large screen allows for me to easily read the scale every time (even after I get out of the shower and the bathroom is fogged up). With my old analog I was always hunching over to figure out what major weights the dial was between. It also is very accurate (I weighed myself multiple times the first few times to test this) and has none of the huge weight fluctuations reported in the reviews of some of Amazon's other scales. Best of all the price was very reasonable versus scales with similar features I have seen elsewhere.

Highly recommended.

This scale has a very sleek design, and the large back-lit display is very useful! It's very easy to read. When I first received the scale, I had trouble tapping it and getting it to turn on. I would have to pick it up and set it back down in order to turn it on. So, I eventually contacted the customer support through e-mail about the issue. And wow, they are extremely fast at responding!! I received a call from them after about (literally!) two minutes of e-mailing them. The representative was really helpful and worked with me to get the scale running properly.

If you have trouble turning it on like how I did, you should first try to tap it with your knuckles (with a bit of force, but not extremely hard) or grab a tennis ball and drop it from 4-5 inches above the scale. If it turns on, then it's probably not turning on properly because of how you're tapping it with your foot. The area I now tap is slightly below the display window (above the center of the scale). That seems to get it to turn on every time. Also, make sure you're placing the scale on a hard surface. The scale is very accurate, and my weight doesn't fluctuate like crazy compared to scales I've had before. I've stepped on it several times in a row to test that out. Awesome product, awesome service! I highly recommend buying from them!!'

Magellan Roadmate 1470 - magellan, magellan roadmate

The NEW Magellan RoadMate 1470 is a feature rich product at an affordable price. I can tell you this unit includes tons of features that are not normally found in the low $200 price range.

My first impression of this unit is without reservations or doubt this unit by far is one of the better GPS unit offered by Magellan. One must ask how Magellan can offer so much at a price that is so reasonable. What RoadMate features has been eliminated for this new Magellan RoadMate 1470?

Answer: Nothing, Magellan gave us everything at a price that is unbelievable!

The NEW Magellan RoadMate 1470 offered at a price of less than $239 and is currently the best value for your dollar. This full feature Portable Navigation Device offers all the features you will need to route from point A to Point B anywhere in North America, Puerto Rico and even Mexico if you select to purchase the optional unlock code for this expandable GPS device. Magellan have introduced the most affordable full feature GPS currently available and I feel they have accomplished this successfully.

The Magellan RoadMate 1470 offers so much more, it is BIGGER, Thinner, Smarter and faster than all the older GPS system offered by Magellan at a competitive price similar to the older RoadMate units. Currently this MRM 1470 is the lowest GPS priced available that offers a large 4.7" display with full features including full map coverage of NA map and expandable to Mexico and future Europe maps loaded in a Micro SD card as an option.

How is this entire GPS product possible at the price it is selling for? It offers a much bigger display, 4.7" diagonally and yet the overall physical size is slimmer than a GPS that offers a 4.3" display. It includes smarter features such as OneTouch, quick spell, smart city search, this unit will find street address or POI you are looking for much faster than what is currently available on the GPS market. This unit is Faster and have the ability to search through the entire NA map data base without having to select different map regions such as Canada, Alaska, Mexico to start a route, it covers the entire NA mapping software in one region so one would not have to fumble around switching regions to route to a destination that is not in the lower 48 states. These RoadMate 1470 also calculates a route much faster and offers not one route but 4 different route options. Route options such as Fastest time, Shortest distant, Most use of freeway and Least use of freeway all presented to you on the display map when you select to view the route options. This will not limit the user to only view the route the unit recommends the user to take but at the same time it will display all available routing options. User has the option of selecting different routing method or to view all the available routes on one[ display screen at the same time .

This Magellan RoadMate 1470 is Thinner and a more attractive GPS unit over all. It is almost the thickness of an iPhone yet offers much larger display in almost the same size form factor as the older Magellan Maestro 4250/4350/4370 units.

This new generation of Magellan GPS systems is also Smart enough to not only detour at a specific selected distant such as by 3 miles, 5 miles and 9 miles if one wish to bypass a certain stretch of road or highways that is on the route under detour option, but one can also selectively detour one segment of the route by selecting the street or highway you wish to avoid. This type of flexibility offer the user the ultimate customizable routing option available on some selective higher price GPS products, and this type of features may not be found on some affordable lower end competitive GPS products currently available on the market.

Unlike some similar competitive GPS units that require you to pre-plan a route on a computer and input the routes you wish to take to customize your route. The multiple route destination feature list allows user to plan a trips or destinations one after another in advance, this unit can store multiple routing destination from one destination to the next in advance, and this can aid the driver from having to input each address they wish to go as they reach each destination one at a time. The route optimization feature option offers even more benefit to users, it will optimize your multiple route destinations by distant and time, this feature offers the most efficient way to calculate multiple routes to ALL of your selected destination starting from the nearest address to the furthest without you having to figure it out on a paper map or on a computer. This type of advance multiple destinations routing feature is found mostly on more expensive higher end GPS units.

The OneTouch feature revolutionized the industry by allowing user to quickly find the destination without having to fumble through address book or points of interest category and fields, without having to select cities, streets and numbers, it is truly a OneTouch feature that allows user to quickly and efficiently route to their most visited or desired POI or addresses quickly. This feature is by far one of Magellan best offering to eliminate the need to hunt for certain locations you can simply store most used POI such as the brand of gas station you use like Chevron or Shell, the coffee house by brand such as Starbucks coffee or Peets coffee, banks, ATM, rental car facilities, airports etc. This OneTouch feature enable user to only find the nearest brand of POI you wish to patronize and will not display ALL irrelevant brand of the gas stations or coffee houses near you when you select the OneTouch feature. This option reduces a lot of time for sorting out unwanted contents.

AAA Tourbook option enable user not only to view the many AAA approved Hotels and Restaurants by diamonds rating and where one knows it is safe to patronize, but it allows additional TourBook Destinations such as Attractions, Events such as Art and Wine festivals, and city sponsored events such as Harvest Festival Art and Craft, Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-off among many other events that is available. This type of benefits was only available to AAA members in the past and now with these new Magellan RoadMate GPS systems, they are including this benefit with all their GPS units. The AAA Category option also offers Approved AAA Auto Repair recommendations as a benefit. AAA hold their approved AAA auto repair facilities to a much higher standard, and they oversee any complaints or dispute issues that may arise from any auto repair facilities that is AAA approved. Should their AAA customers be dissatisfied with their car repair, AAA will interject and help mediate and resolve complaints. AAA may act as a mediator to resolve any differences between an AAA approved repair facility and their customers. Most of the time you will find AAA will side with the consumer and request the repair facility to resolve any disputes or complaints. This benefit is extremely useful considering if you are traveling in unfamiliar locations and your vehicle should happen to need repair, you would wish to participate with an AAA approved auto repair facility.

The Tourbook also offer a guide to Nearest Campgrounds, this is a great points of interest category to include for outdoor type users.

The final offer unfortunately is only for AAA members that carry an AAA membership card. For all AAA members, they offer a member ship discount benefits aka Show Your Card and Save. This benefit allow AAA member to save as little as $1 off to 10-20% off on many services and merchandizes including restaurants, saving from company such as UPS stores savings up to 15% on copies, faxes, mailboxes etc and 5% on shipping or save from truck rentals such as Penske Truck Rental from 10% for local rentals and 12% on one-way rentals. Theme park discounts, hair cut discounts, vision care discounts to discounts to sporting events, the list just keeps going. This type of benefits is very worthwhile if one was to decide to make a road trip or go on a vacation. These benefits are also great from someone that is driving all the time.

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with AAA but I have been an AAA member for many years and enjoy the savings they have to offer. Remember to enjoy these show your card and save benefits, one must be an AAA member or be with a friend that is an AAA member.

This new Magellan RoadMate 1470 is bigger, slimmer and it is also smarter. For those of us that have a difficult time spelling out street names and Cities in Hawaii or Puerto Rico, names like Kaneohe or Wahiawa in the State of Hawaii, one may have difficult time guessing how to spell the city name. With the Magellan RoadMate and the smart city search feature, it will display the City name as you type in a few letters on the spell screen, and also will blank out the letters that is not associated with any cities making it easier to find the city of your choice. If you are near the city you are searching for, the name of the city will pop up first which makes it easier for you to find surrounding cities near your location. This Smart City Search is an excellent feature to aid anyone in spelling cities or street names. The Quick Spell street name search functions similarly that it only offers alphabets letters of available street names and will blank out letters that are not associated with any street name in that city. This enable the user to narrow down the search unlike many competitive units that requires the user to type in the full name before it can determine if it is available or not.

Audio quality provides louder speaker volume output. One of the biggest complaints as to portable GPS systems are the audio output is never loud enough. This new Magellan RoadMate 1470 outperforms in sound volume than the higher end Magellan Maestro's 4250 and 4350/4370's. So if volume is a concern to you, this would be the unit for you. If you drive a loud/noisy vehicle such as a large SUV, truck or a convertible, you may wish to consider this GPS model.

The Magellan RoadMate 1470 Text size is physically larger making it easier for vision impaired user to see the input keys.

One feature that is very helpful is now the unit will display the ETA on the POI menu when you select a category and POI, this will allow user to understand what the approximate ETA will be to route to the POI user selected.

The Exit POI is a very a nice feature that allows users to know what Gas Stations, Hotels, and Restaurants etc that are available in the up coming exit while routing on freeways and highways.

This unit being offered at less than $239 includes the latest and freshest mapping software version 35 which is Q308 mapping software from NavTeq. The average map update cost these days is $49-$79 and considering all the new features this Magellan RoadMate 1470 unit has to offer, it's a bargain and the intelligent solution to keep your GPS fresh and up to date. Remember when you buy these new model GPS units, also includes the 1 year factory warranty.

Lane Assist feature is new to Magellan on the RoadMate product lines. Again this type of advance features are normally offered in higher end PND products. Lane assist enable user to know well in advance what highway or freeway lane they should be in before the exit. This feature is extremely helpful in cities such as Los Angeles that have multiple freeway interchanges, exits and entrances that could easily confuse any driver, with the lane assist feature, the user will be knowledgeable as to which lane and exit they need to take before it is too late. This by far is one of the more desirable feature much like Text to Speech, it keeps the driver better inform as the routes the GPS is directing the driver to take.

The famous patented Magellan Chime/ Bell just-in-time warning feature offers a warning such as "ding-ding" just before the execution. This warning feature allows the user not only to be sure that they are asked to take the turn or exit at the right time, but that they are taking the correct turn and not the street before or after. Too often on short city streets that a warning such as left turn on 3rd street may not be enough if you are in heavy traffic and focusing on the heavy city traffic on the road, sometimes street signs are not easily found and the bell chime confirms that you should make an immediate turn after the chime offer user another level of confirmation.

By far the Magellan RoadMate 1470 offers the most warning of any GPS units, on a normal freeway exit, it will announce 2 miles before the exit, 1 mile before the exit, .5 miles before the exit, .2 miles before the exit and the warning chime just before the exit. On shorter city streets it may only announce .2 of a mile left turn on 3rd street and the bell chime will sound off just before the necessary turn. And if the warning is not enough, you can always select the repeat audio command feature to hear the distant count down if you are unsure when you are going to make the turn. You may ask yourself how this warning feature is different than most other GPS systems currently available. Most competing GPS products may only announce left turn ahead and you may have 2 streets one after another and will have to confirm by taking your eyes off the road and reconfirm via map screen which is not the safest way to navigate in a busy city. Magellan has the right solution by offer both Text to Speech and bell warning chime Just-In-Time before the turn. This is something that is a feature that is much desired and not found in competing GPS products.

Traffic Information, if you are a heavy commuter and requires as much traffic information as possible, you may consider the Magellan RoadMate 1470 offers free lifetime traffic service with the optional traffic receiver. This is a necessary feature to have if you are spending a lot of time on the freeway or highways.

Overview: Bigger, Thinner, Smarter, and Faster. This Magellan RoadMate 1470 is currently the only FULL feature we can find at less than $239 and we feel for a portable navigation device that includes a large 4.7" display, OneTouch patented feature, Text To Speech, Lane Assist, AAA TourBook, millions of points of interest, 2D-3D views map display with a loud audio output speaker is the only intelligent choice for educated consumer to consider. This is the unit that we recommend for the consumer that is looking for the right product at a great price without sacrificing a lot of the advance features currently available on the market today.

No GPS unit is without its limitations, this unit lacks some of the features such as Voice Recognition, BlueTooth, MP3 player, Picture Viewer, Pedestrian mode, ability to route to Lat/Long coordinates, and the DC power cord mount is not user friendly since it interferences with the windshield mount and there is no real way to remove the unit from the mount using one hand.

There appears to be a slightly longer boot up time than most GPS, approximately 3-40 seconds which feels long when the average units boots up in about 10-15 seconds.

Although there are tons of new POI's, there are some older POIs that are missing for whatever reason I am not sure, but the POI seems to be different not necessary a lot more but just more new categories.

Over all, this unit is highly recommended for the features it has to offer, the sturdy routing and the Magellan legendary ease of use.

Ncaa Football 2008 - college football, football

Let me start off by saying that when your playing in a game scenario, this game can be fun, But problems start rather quickly. One of my biggest complaints is in the passing game, the lack of location based passing makes throwing the ball nerve racking, often times on a crossing route your receiver will have to spin around backwards just to make the catch. And if your hoping to throw over your receivers shoulder where a defender cant reach it.... good luck, once again, most of the time he will spin around and try to make a dramatic catch, often times losing the chance to get extra yardage. Then theres one of my favorite pass plays, the deep comeback. This play is insanely frustrating, your reciever will go out the usual 10-15 yards, the problem is, when he turns back for the pass, he comes back a few yards, you throw, he catches, BUT KEEPS COMING BACK!!! It takes him so long to turn back around, that when he gets tackled he has turned what should have been a gain of 10-15 yards or more into a gain of 4-8 yards. And also if your not a fan of using tight ends in the passing game, you better be damn good at this game, because in the harder difficulty levels it is extremely hard to get the ball into your receivers, since the defense is so tough. Make friends with your tight end, he could save you. And also make good use of your hot routes and motions, and remember, just becuase your pass isnt a huge gain, as long as your not losing yards, your doing pretty good. My next problem is the running game in campus legend mode, when you are the quarterback, or any other position, your running back is often a lame duck, unless your on a team with a excellent running back, even then you will have to turn your running backs AI waaayyy up so that he doesnt just do a spin move and get dropped in the backfield. Also in Campus legend mode, when you are the quarterbackback, you want to make sure that you do choose a balanced or running quarterback, otherwise you may be on the wrong side of a sack very often, especially since the offensive line this year is very inconsistant. Now I know that your gonna get sacked sometimes, that obvious, and also part of the game. But what i mean by inconsistant is that, one play the O-line will do a pretty good job, but then on the next two of your guys will grind together trying to pick up a block, and allow the whole D-line to get through and take you down (thats why you want a mobile quarterback). The load times are long, which can be frustrating, especailly in campus legend mode, where the games are considerably shorter since you only play when your player is on the field. But one place the 360 version of the game shines over the ps3 version is the framerate, which is at a lovely 60 frames per second, while the ps3 struggles at 30fps. But so many frames a second can cause some hiccups.

The main menu can be frustrating and confusing at times, but nothing too hard to overcome. i also find myself wishing there was more to do with your player during the week in campus legend mode. Every week goes as follows: Practice, night event (you only read about what you did that night), then comes the next day. You do this all week, then you can play the game at the end of the week. the night event can earn you stats (which will help you for the week), and popularity points (Which will help fill up your legend meter). You cant even do anything during the offseason, no training, no mini camps, not even a spring game. :(

Thats not to say that everythng is bad in this game. Like I said, this game can be pretty fun. The new ESPN.com feature is very nice, and does a good job keeping up with stats, although often I find that a team that was ranked 25th or lower in the BCS one week, is ranked in the top 5 the next, which for anybody who knows college football, can be irritating since this is NOT supposed to happen. To be fair, I have not played on defense very much, so I can't really discuss that. But let me just say, being a middle linebacker is tough.

All in all this isnt a horrible game, its actually very addicting, its just easier to point out the flaws than it is to talk about the good stuff. The frustrating things do happen, but if you love college football, its easy to overlook...Creating your own highlight reel can be fun, but if your like me and dont have box live (at the moment), its just a sad reminder of how you cant show off your skills. The Stadiums are well done, as well as the whether effects, in the winter you could be having a snow shower, then the next thing you know, it has turned into a blizzard that has completely covered the field. Oddly though, you never see a player slip on the slippery surface (as in Madden 08). The Announcers do a good job with the emotion factor. I cant really say much bad about them. They are a little inconsistant though. For example: they will be very excited over the 4th game of the season, but then in the National Championship, they will be very mellow.

If you have a problem with little irritations and flaws, pass on this game, but if you can overlook these thing, trust me... this game makes for a satisfying experience. I just hope this review has helped all who are reading. and i hope it didnt take too much time out of your day.

Thanks for your time! :) NCAA Football 08

Normally I just dig right into the dynasty mode expecting to lose a few games learning the particulars of the game engine, but this time I started by trying out some of the other features. First I tried the minigames of Tug of War (you get 1 play to move the ball and then the opponent gets the same, first to touchdown wins) and also Bowling (10 yards to goal, each yard is a pin with two shots at the end zone).

Next I moved on to Campus Legend Mode. And to be honest it is good enough that I have not left it. First you start out by designing a player and picking a position for them. Next you select your home school and state (high school that is) and you get put right into the high school state playoffs. I picked ROLB to start with figuring that defense is a good place for me. So first off, the only person you can control is the player you have created, so many plays are just not going to involve you. Although there is a lot more pressure because when you blow a coverage or tackle you can't switch to another nearby player to make the tackle. Once you have completed the high school playoffs, you have to select the college that you want to go to. In my case I picked Penn State because I would not be a starter, but I also wouldn't be 3rd string.

Your college career consists of 2 things per day. First is practice where you get 10 reps at various plays (coach calls all plays in both practices and real games). When you make a play it is worth points. These points eventually will earn you a spot on the starting line. For me, I earned my starting spot right before the 3rd game in the season. The different strings make it interesting in the game as well. When you are second string, you are hoping for a blow out so that you can get some field time other than on special teams, where as you hope for a close one during regular play.

One of the nice things in this mode, and frustrating is that the games tend to be really short. This gets a tad annoying as the load times in this game are incredibly long. Another drawback to this mode is that you may play your heart out and do an incredible job, but the team could still lose because the other half of the team is unable to get the job done. Besides the long load times, I have also seen a lot of very screen stutters and lots of xbox 360 fan and drive noise. Just seems to be slightly too intensive.

Graphics wise, this game is good, but not really something you are going to shout from the mountain tops about. Sounds are incredible and after 9 games, I can't complain about the announcers yet. So with all the problems, I still give this game a must buy for Football fans. It is just as fun as it's previous versions (I have played NCAA 01, 04, and 05). - Ncaa 08 - College Football - Football - Video Games'

Roadtrip Grill - coleman grill, carrying case

My family and friends have been camping together since "04" and every year we accumulate more and more camping gear. This year I bought the Paul Jr. Coleman Roadtrip Grill (which is excellent) because of its compact design and wanted to keep it clean and stored away without damaging it so I bought this carrying case/bag for it and it fits perfectly. All I had to do was remove the grills removable handle and it was a snug and perfect fit. There's no shifting or rattling. The bag has its own handle and wheels for easy accessibility. It also has straps inside to strap everything in place. If you're in a quandary about which carrying case to get for your Paul Jr. Roadtrip Grill this is it. I read other reviews and none mentioned this specific grill so that's why I'm emphasizing it. Hope this review helps you. Coleman Road Trip Accessory Wheeled Carry Case

In addition to providing extra storage for hookup or cooking accessories, the case prevents dust or other particulate matter from getting into the cooking areas (the grill's metal lid closes and fits fine, but it's not airtight, of course) or into the propane connection.

If you're transporting the grill on your car's roof rack, having it in the case makes it easier and safer to bring down off of the roof and hand it to your helper. There won't be a chance of your helper's hand being cut on a sharp edge or of having the metal lid come open when you're moving it. Yes, the grill's metal lid has a latch but if you or a helper forgets to engage the latch or accidentally opens it while moving the grill, disaster will invariably follow. Roof transport also increases the likelihood of road dirt, bugs, or other unwanted items getting into your grill, and being able to avoid a half-hour of cleaning bug debris off of your grill before you can start cooking at your campsite will most likely result in happier campers all 'round.

If the grill is used for car-camping at a remote campsite location, you may not have the facilities available to clean the grill up perfectly after it's used, and you may wish to do a final cleanup at home where it will be easier. The case allows you to pack the grill into your vehicle without the worry of having a part of the grill that you missed cleaning touch something else and cause it to become soiled. With the popularity of compact cars, it's not always easy to pack your camping gear in a manner that precludes any chance of something touching your grill. Having a favorite article of clothing ruined because it brushed against a greasy spot on the grill may cause a frown to risk spoiling an otherwise splendid camping excursion. Similarly, getting a dark grease stain out of your car's carpeting or upholstery may be difficult. This case takes away all such worries and allows you to spend more time enjoying your trip and less time worrying whether you missed a spot while cleaning the grill in the rain as you were packing up your gear.

I like the cover with its inside pockets and the velcro straps and wheels. However, it does not fit all the grills as the description says. The handle sticks out of the case if you have a Road Trip LXE (red grill) so you can not zip it up all the way. I kept the case because it does protect it better than nothing and it does give us a way to store the extra grills, etc.

Bought this for my hubbys road trip grill. The grill fits really well and gives me a warm fuzzy knowing that any grease not cleaned will not end up where it should not (on the camper or the truck). It has handy wheels that make moving it around real easy, and getting it down from the pick up with the built in handles also makes things easier. The extra grates that we have bought for the grill fit in the pockets and storing the grill brush with the grill is another plus. It seems really well constructed and I expect will last us for years to come.

We purchased the Coleman RoadTrip Grill LXE 9949-750 and absolutely love it! Whenever we set it up, people always come around asking questions about it. Even more heads turn when I close the lid and lock it, and with one swift move, the whole grill folds flat. I then slide it into the wheeled carrying case and pop it in the trunk. Awesome. No messy coals or irritating smoke. I soak the grill grates in soapy water when I get home and wipe out some spattered grease. Ready for the next BBQ!

This review is about the carrying case. The case keeps any dirt or grease on the grill from spreading to the trunk of our car. It has handy-dandy exterior pockets for holding extra propane cans or extra accessory stove grates. The wheeled case will also keep your grill from getting scratches and make it easier for two people to lift it into and out of the trunk of a car.

If you decide that you can live without the Wheeled Carry Case, (after all, the RoadTrip Grill has wheels of it's own) be careful when wheeling the grill around. Coleman didn't make the grill lid lock very well and the slightest jar will cause the two interior grill grates to tumble out and onto the ground. Yikes!

I found this wheeled carrying case to be useless for our Coleman Road Trip Grill. We purchased a new Coleman Road Trip Grill, Model No. 9941A (the Blue one) in July. Although the ads say that this carrying case with wheels works on all Coleman Road Trip Grill models, this is simply not true. We could not get the grill to fit in the case with the stand, let alone the two side tables and the tank. This carrying case must only fit the older grills that are red in color and have the older fold-up stand. Coleman was not helpful at all and it took two emails and several weeks before they even acknowledged my questions and concerns. I returned the carrying case as it is of no use to us if we can't get the grill in it. Don't waste your time if you have purchased the blue grill and think it will fit in this case. - Accessories - Coleman Grill - Carrying Case - Coleman'

Laser Mouse Pad - mousepads, computer add-ons

This mouse pad is very thin and has great tracking for laser mice.

It is great for tavelling with a notebook since it is about 1/2 the size of a regular mouse pad.

It also works great if you have a keyboard/mouse tray since most mouse pads are too big to fit on the mouse platform. WOW!PAD 5" x 7" Laptop/Notebook Mouse Pad--Water ( 57LT29-011 )

My wife and I both use laptops on wood-surfaced lap desks. We both currently use traditional mouse pads which function fine, but take up too much space. I ordered two of these for us, and although the size is perfect, they don't stick to the wood surface, and instead slide around as we try to move the mouse.

They might work on another surface, but for us they were useless.

This is a very thin mouse pad which is my preference and the surface of the pad isn't rough on my wrist which is what I've found with many other mouse pads. I use these mouse pads for all my computers from netbook to desktop PC. - Computer Add-ons - Mouse Pads - Wowpad - Mousepads'

Excellent Product - canon digital camera, point and shoot

For serious photography, I prefer a big, heavy digital SLR. But where my goal is not photography but I want a camera along for snapshots, I use this.

I expected to buy a Lumix LX-series or Canon S95 - both attempts to match the capabilities of a SLR as much as possible in an easily-pocketable camera. But as I kept reading the reviews I got more confused, until I remembered the basic laws of physics haven't been repealed.

To roughly summarize the camera review sites, all major-brand subcompacts do a good job in bright light. The differentiators are low light, flash, performance, and manual control. And when you read carefully, you realize there's not a lot of practical difference here either. But there's no way to compare them without exaggerating the differences, which makes them sound more significant than they really are.

LOW LIGHT

In low light, digital cameras increase the ISO, which means the weak signal coming from the sensor is amplified. This also amplifies noise, which causes an overall grainy look and, in dark areas, colored confetti. I don't expect any camera to work well in low light; this goes for pro-level DSLRs and film cameras as well. So paying extra for a camera that's really bad in low light rather than terrible doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It's a lot like choosing sunglasses based on their performance in dim light, or a screwdriver for its ability to drive a nail.

FLASH

For flash, a commercial photographer typically uses a power pack that may draw 15 amps AC and power multiple heads which range in size from 4" diameter to over 36". Subcompact cameras have ridiculously small batteries and tiny flash tubes (typically under 0.2 sq inches) located at the worst possible place: near the lens. It amazes me that any of them work as well as they do. Do I really care that one extends to 13 feet and another only 11.75? There have been times where I'd wished for a more powerful flash, but I'm thinking an extra 30 feet; I wouldn't notice an extra 2 or 3.

The A3000 flash will synch any ordinary slave flash if you turn off the red-eye feature in the camera. It won't meter it, however, so it's easy to wash out the picture. I believe this is true for all Canon subcompacts.

PERFORMANCE

When prefocused, picture-to-picture processing time is barely noticeable -- less than half a second. When you include focusing time, less than 2.5 seconds. It's faster with the continuous shot option, which does not refocus between exposures. This is respectable, and more than enough for my needs. To keep up with a very active child or pet, you might want faster performance. Tested with 4 GB Lexar Platinum II 9MB/sec SDHC.

MANUAL CONTROL

I use manual control on my SLR most of the time. I had it on my last two subcompacts, and seldom used it. The A3000 doesn't have it. The only time I missed it was using slave flash. If I'm out with the family, I don't want to be thinking like a photographer, so the camera will probably make better decisions. And manual control is less convenient on a subcompact because of the ergonomic compromises necessary for such a small camera. Nice to have, but as processors get smarter, less important.

MEGAPIXELS

The best professional color printers print 90,000 dots per square inch. That means it takes 4 x 6 x 90,000 = 2.2 megapixels for a 4 x 6 print. 5 x 7 = 3.2 megapixels. 8 x 10 = 7.2 megapixels. Higher megapixels increase image file size and shot-to-shot delay (while the camera compresses the image and writes it out to the card). The only advantage to "higher resolution" than that required for your final print: you can crop the picture a bit without losing any picture quality. The A3000 is 10 meg; if they had a 6 meg version, it would be a better camera. Canon knows this; they also know megapixels are a lot easier to sell.

SENSOR SIZE

Bigger is better, but more important than sensor size is pixel size - the larger the pixels the higher the dynamic range, which means more detail in very bright and very dark areas. It usually means better low-light performance and less noise because of other engineering choices available because of the larger pixels.

The difference in sensor size between this and some of the more expensive small cameras (S95) seems significant until you put it into perspective. The pixel size of a Canon S95 is 6% that of a 12-meg professional DSLR (FX format). A3000 is 4%. Given the dynamic range and low-light performance of a pro DSLR isn't that great, I don't see any reason to pay a premium for 6% vs 4%.

CONCLUSION

My ideal small camera - pocketable, usably large viewfinder (I can accept a smaller LCD), 5-6 megapixels, manual control, image stabilization (small cameras are hard to hold steady), not cluttered with silly features - is no longer made. If a camera manufacturer wants me to spend more, they're going to have to come closer to that; more megapixels won't do it.

Until then, I'm OK with the A3000. Pictures are excellent for a subcompact. Flash even in a big room is more than acceptable for on-camera flash, focus is quick and remarkably adept at identifying the right subject, image stabilization works as well as I'd hoped. Controls are well laid out and intuitive. LCD is bright and clear, even outdoors. The shutter release could be more prominent, and I may attach a thin rubber disk to make it easier to find by feel.

The A3000 doesn't looking expensive, so subjects tend to ignore it. And I'm more likely to take it along because it if gets damaged or lost, or encounters the uneconomical-to-repair "lens error" that seems to afflict all brands, it's not a big deal. Manual is pdf file on disk, also available on-line. Camera made in Malaysia. 1-year limited warranty. Digital Recorders - digital recorder, digital voice recorders

This little recorder rocks. There's a lot to say about it.

For my recording needs, it replaced an aging but awesome iRiver H120 (20 GB recorder capable of recording 44/16 or MP3, plus playback of many audio file types. I found nothing that would do everything the iRiver did, so I split the job up. Bought an iPod for listening to music and the Sony for recording.

My recording needs are smaller than my recording ego. I'd love a Marantz PMD 661, but have no way to justify it or the price. I needed a recorder to handle 1- to 4-part vocal practices, with from 1-50 people, without having to pay a lot of attention to tweaking levels to get a quality recording. I wanted more than "recognizable," I wanted "listenable." The Sony got it right.

Sony did all that and surprised me with more flexibility than I expected. I had been debating between this and the Olympus LS-10. At the time I purchased, I was able to find the Sony online new for $70, versus the Olympus for $219. I downloaded the manuals, read a number of reviews, listened to sound samples, and even looked at some in audio editing software.

The real differences between this and the Olympus come from the product's target market: Sony aimed for digital voice recording, and Olympus aimed at music recording. But they overlap enough that comparisons are worth making:

(0) Both offer line-in or built-in mic recording; USB connection to a computer; 44/16 or MP3 recording (more later), high quality mics in stereo; battery operation; and tiny speakers useful for little more than basic monitoring. In each of these camps, one model or the other offers a little more versatility than the other. I believe it is these "little things" that make or break the choice over which is right for you.

(1) Sony's got 1 GB of RAM, which limits you to 90 minutes of CD quality (44.1/16) recording (if you choose one of the lossy formats like MP3 (192 or 128) or Sony's proprietary LPEC format, you'll get many hours more). There's no expansion option (c'mon, a MicroSD card slot would not have been out of the question). Olympus offers more high resolution, high bit rate formats, and comes with 2 GB built in with an SD card slot for more expansion. Score 1 for Olympus.

(2) If you use rechargeables, the Sony will recharge the AAA batteries via USB when connected, while the Olympus will not. The Oly's 12 hour on AA's mean you'll likely use an AC adaptor much of the time, like when transferring files to/from the PC. But the Olym does not include one. Worse, the Oly manual explicitly says DO NOT connect via USB while connected to AC power. WHAT? That's just goofy, and it sounds too easy to fry something important. Score 1 for Sony.

(3) Sony added a number of useful features geared toward "voice clarity" when recording, and when playing back, any combination of which can be turned on/off. Some are "recorded" with the signal, but others are playback-only. Voice boost, low cut, noise cut are very effective (particularly if what you want to hear is the voice range in a recording). The digital vari-speed playback is fair at best (always seems warbly to me), as is the voice-activated recording (it tends to cut off the first word). From reviews, and the manual, Olympus offers a low cut switch, and preset/manual recording level settings, but its playback adjustments are limited to some preset reverbs. Yuck. Sony's microphones are great, but I believe they are not on par with the Oly's. This is purely subjective, but again the "target market" means that one product requires quality voice reproduction while the other requires quality musical reproduction. I believe this purpose may drive the internal processing of the recorded signal just as it does the features offered by each product. I consider this one a tie.

Letdowns in both Camps

I am disappointed that the Olympus does not feature any better "listening adjustments" like equalization settings. This seems to be a natural fit for a musician's device. Every iPod's got it! On the Sony side, I am disappointed that "fast forwarding through" recordings is somewhat choppy, and for long recording of over 30 minutes it tends to take a while to get farther in. To be fair, it does speed up the longer you hold the scan function, but I miss the ability to set the scan speed the way I could with RockBox on my iRiver. Some devices do this, and scan MP3's smoothly.

Surprises Too

Some little bonuses haves surprised me. Both recorders come with 5 pre-made folders, labeled Folder01 through Folder05, for recording. The Sony manual led me to think that this was it, these 5 folders were what I had to work with. However, when connected to a PC the Sony allowed me to create more folders, change the names of existing ones, and generally treat the files and file system the way you want. I renamed the folders to more useful names, and created a few others, and it handled them all just fine when disconnected from the computer, never complaining. (Of course, if I reformat the entire drive, I'm sure it will go back to its defaults...which I will change again. But for a Sony product to give me this kind of leeway and freedom, pretty cool! I can't say how the Oly handles the 5 default folders, or whether more are allowed.

Sony's got convenience down with this one. The first menu item displayed is always the recording mode (44/16, MP3, LPEC, etc.) and, beside that, the recording level (with a Music preset, three voice presets Normal, High, SuperHigh, and Manual). Nice and clean, and well thought-out. Also, I can put MP3's on it, and it will play them back with a wonderful, warm, analog sound. So I can use it occasionally as a portable player, which it's pretty darn good at!

Overall

If you need more critical musical recording quality in an "all in one" box, the Olympus is closer to this goal provided you understand its limits and are mindful of them. I consider it more of a "very high quality capture device" for music when you are in more controlled recording environments. I don't think of it as a music player.

If you need more portability, ease of operation and convenience, and are willing to listen to a lesser (but still very high) audio quality, the Sony is worth a close look. Listen to the audio samples on the Sony Canada site (www.sony.ca). I consider it more of a "high quality capture and playback device" for all kinds of recording situations, indoors or out. Ipod Accessories

This Nike+ kit works with your ipod nano, 3rd Gen and above. If you've got an ipod touch, it has its own receiver built in, so you don't need the whole kit, just the sensor- which is cheaper ($19).

This is not a 'pedometer'. It doesn't count your steps. It uses a much more accurate way to measure pace and distance- which is based on the inverse relationship between foot ground time and speed. If you're a 'normal' person, it may be pretty accurate right out of the box, but you can run a measured distance at your normal pace and calibrate the unit. When running at my 'regular' pace, I've found it to be remarkably accurate- hitting mile markers to within a few steps (which is more accurate than my Garmin GPS). However, the calculated relationship breaks down if you run up/down steeper hills, so that will throw it off. Also, if you significantly change your pace, it will come up a little short or long, but still generally within a few percent. Hey- nothing is perfect. Even my Garmin GPS gets 150ft off sometimes.

One of the best parts about it is that your run info gets uploaded to the Nike web site which provides zippy colorful graphs and plots, and lots of motivational tools, training plans, group challenges and such. All free!

There's no cheaper, better way to keep track of your running mileage. Kudos to Nike on this one. Oh- Nike sneakers have a built in spot for the sensor. But, if you don't run in Nike's, not a problem. You'll need to buy a little pouch that holds in on your shoe laces. Plenty choices available here on Amazon. I like the Switcheasy one myself. Nike + iPod Sport Kit (NEWEST VERSION) [Retail Packaging]

I recently purchased the entire nike plus system. It was great and easy to use, but once I loaded my first run onto the nike website from my phone an ad for a new nike app popped up. For around 2 dollars you can get a the NIke+ GPS app, that will do away with having to buy Nike specific shoes or even the little sensor. This is great because not only do you not need to buy all the extras but you don't have to change your brand of shoes, which is a huge issue for most serious runners. I ran with both for a while and the Nike+ GPS app is far more accurate and does not require a calibration run. Hopefully this helps you avoid buying the extras.

I had high hopes for this product as I am an avid long-distance runner. The setup and integration with ITunes, etc. are great. It is easy to put it all together to go out for a run. I ran one run without calibrating it and ended up having it undermeasure by about 10% (It measured 9.0 for a 9.7 mile run). I then calibrated it on my next run and it worked well that day. The next run, however, it was off again about 10%. So the next run I calibrated it again and it worked okay for that day. The next run... You get the picture. I don't know why it won't work for me, but I am really frustrated and wish I wouldn't have purchased this product. The idea and ease of use are terrific, but if it can't measure my runs with accuracy--this is a no go.

I've been using the Nike + sensor since mid-September. I have Nike Pegasus shoes that are designed with a pocket to hold the chip and an ipod nano 5th gen. I've logged just over 100 miles with it on the Nike website. This thing motivates me to keep moving so I can log more miles.

I love how many options it gives you. You can set it for a 5k workout on shuffle or a specific playlist or a specific song (I use Personal Running Trainer mp3's, also on amazon). When you select a specific distance or time, it gives you periodic updates "1 kilometer completed" "halfway point" and those are nice. If you do a basic workout, you get no automatic updates, but if you push the center button on your ipod it will update you on your time, distance and pace.

Then at the end of your workout, it tells you your time, distance, average pace, and calories burned. If you beat your best time for a mile, or go further or longer than you have in the past, a famous athlete's voice comes on and congratulates you. It's great to hear Tiger Woods congratulate you on your fastest mile.

On the Nike website, it logs all of your runs, and posts your runs to facebook if you want it to. I compete in challenges with my friends for "who can run the fastest 5k" or "who can log the most miles in February" and you can set your own personal goals as well, and you get medals when you achieve them.

As for accuracy, if you change your stride, due to changing surfaces, you can recalibrate the sensor at the end of the workout if needed. If you run on a track, and you know you did 3 miles, but the sensor is off by a little bit, just tell it what you really did, and the website will log what you told it to, and now it's recalibrated for next time. I've heard of some people buying multiple chips for walking, one for running, and one for racing, but I've found that it's usually really close. When you calibrate on its own, as opposed to the end of a workout, it does not keep track of those distances for that time you spent calibrating. I currently have mine calibrated to the treadmill, and I might have to recalibrate it when I start running outside again, but I don't know.

I have friends that have other brand shoes, and they bought the separate holder to hold the chip on their laces, and they like it just fine, so you don't need Nike shoes to use this.'

Digital Camera Memory - memory card, sandisk

Standard SD and SDHC cards look identical in size and shape, only SDHC-compatible products will be able to accept the new SDHC cards. SanDisk differentiates its new cards with the new SDHC logo on the card and retail package.

Now my web research finds that at the time of its release Wes Brewer, vice president of consumer product marketing at SanDisk, said, "In order to provide the easiest and most compatible solution for 4GB and larger capacity SDHC cards in the market, SanDisk chose to bundle its new MicroMate USB 2.0 SD/SDHC compatible card reader, which normally retails for $19.99, with this new card."

Note this deal does not include a reader.

In my case the device I bought it for can read it. Without the dedicated reader my year old HP computer cannot . Sandisk 4GB Secure Digital SD HC Memory Card (SDSDB-4096, BULK, No Reader)

This is a must for loading music to listen to on my Palm TX. But BEWARE of eek Technoligies and buying at this price. They wanted $13.20 for shipping a 2 oz memory card? Buy from someone else even if it is a few dollars more and pay reasonable shipping rates. Don't be fooled by their cheap price they make it up 2x in shippoing charges. When I saw it I cancelled my order..

I played around with the prices on this and found out several things. If I order this item, $11 in shipping costs is added by the third party supplier! If I get the 2G version, even two of them, those qualify for free shipping from Amazon and come out much cheaper. So check your prices on these before ordering. My hunch is that you can probably pick this 4G up cheaper at your local electronics/computer store...

It's nice to have 4GB in your camera and be able to take pictures at max resolution and not have to worry about running out of space. I've been using SanDisk cards for 6 years now and never had a single problem. Be warned however, if you have a somewhat older digital camera, it may not recognize a card of this size and the card will be useless. I don't know why they don't mention this in the product spec, hence the 4 stars. Check your camera's user manual for max memory capabilities, if any.

I purchased this card five months ago and used it without incident. I was happy with the amount of space on the card. Suddenly today, for no apparent reason, a message came up saying "memory card error". I cannot access the photos on my card with my external card reader. I cannot use the card in my camera. The photos on the card are lost, and that makes me quite sad.

Finding that this product does not work in my one year old Canon camera I contacted the company and was given a list of cameras which do support it. This list belongs on the product description at the Amazon site. Besides the nuisance, I'll be out the $4.50 shipping cost for shipping an item requiring .59 cents postage.

The Sandisk site says this disk is compatible, and the user manual for the Canon Powershot 590IS says the camera can use SD or SDHC memory cards, so I assumed this card would be compatible. It wasn't. The camera says "memory card locked!" even when the card is unlocked. I'm giving this a one star rating because everything I looked at says this card is compatible, but it wasn't. For the Sandisk compatiblity site (which, of course, recommends their most expensive 32 and 16G cards first), see http://www.sandisk.com/Compatibility/Device(8725)-Canon-PowerShot_A590_IS.aspx . I haven't found a site so far that specifically recommends one card over another for this model of camera.

BAIT AND SWITCH ALERT! I ordered traditional blue normal San Disk 4 gb disks as advertised here for christmas gifts like digital cameras and to use myself with my camera. As of ten minutes ago, the ABX Protech listing (here at amazon.com) displayed the blue san disk memory card that I always buy from Best Buy, which is not a bulk item, and comes with a usb and reader. However that is not what this company sent. ABX ProTech pulled a bait and switch, shipping an entirely different product, that does not work with my digital items.

BEWARE! If you order this, you will not get the Traditional Blue San Disk memory card that they advertise and what they send will not work with your regular electronic devices.

Particularly problematic is that the ad- which was up until a moment ago when I complained- showed the standard blue memory card, and now they have changed it. Luckily I printed copies of my order and took a print screen image of their ad from today showing how they advertise one item and shipped another.

Even more shady, there was no packing slip or invoice in the package and they charged enormous shipping fees ($15.00) for a tiny envelope package weighing less than 2 ounces that they mailed first class.

I have requested a full refund- including shipping and handling, but have not heard back. ABX Protech has a very restrictive and laborious refund policy under which you may not ship anything back until you receive a "return" number from them.

Avoid ABX protech at ALL COSTS! - Sandisk 4gb - Digital Camera Memory - Memory Card - Sandisk'

Outdoor Play - water table, toddler

i thought i was buying the next size up when i saw this box "previously opened and missing an umbrella" at a major chain toy store. it was $20 off and i knew you can use a regular beach umbrella, so i happily took it home! my 20 month old has been THRILLED and spent the entire weekend making sandcastles, having her little people slide and "go swimming", making mudpies and generally getting her tactile on. today i realized it was not the one i thought i was buying, but am still very happy. she will have plenty of room to grow with this sand/water table, and it is very durable. it may be too small for 8 year olds like the next size up, but she and several of her friends could fit around it for the next few years. it does not have the bells and whistles of other tables with the attached funnels, gears and such, but those are things we can bring to the table. i like that on its own, this table is just a place to use imagination and those extra toys aren't fixed. it has a drain stopper on both the sand and water sides, a roundabout water canal on one and a slide into a decent sized sand "mine" on the other. i didn't want a big sandbox, just enough for her to bury things and explore without sand getting in every fiber of her clothing, and this does the job perfectly. the cover is TIGHT and should keep everything out. we had to use our drill to make 8 leg holes (they are marked, but not drilled through) even though the instructions say "drill optional". i guess if you wanna manually screw through plastic you can go for it. overall assembly took about 20 minutes. the legs have two settings and we immediately used the highest setting. you can see the picture i posted for reference of a 32" 20 month old. Step2 Play Up Adjustable Sand & Water Table

Our 2 yr old dosen't enjoy this sand & water table as much as our old one, which had more interactive toys (water wheels, pitchers, & cups). The water side is on the small side, not much room to dip cups into. The frame is very sturdy & can grow with our children. We love that is has a lid, and it stays on even during major storms. Umbrella is made of very thin material but is large enough to cover almost entire table. Would be better used for just a sand table.

I purchased this water and sand table for my Grandson who just turned 3 in June. He has been out on the pourch each day if it is not raining or the temp's go over 92. He just uses it with the water and loves it. He will fill it up and then empty it again. He has so much fun with it. The fact that it came with a unbrella was another reason that I bought it. It also has adjustable legs so when Ryan gets a little taller he will still be able to play with it. When we bring Ryan in for the evening it is nice that we can put the cover one which was also included so that no animal that are in the neighborhood can come and plop themselves for the night in it. It is very easy to keep clean. I am very glad that I purchased it through Amazon. I was so surprised it came so fast after I placed the order. I will keep looking for more things to get from them. This water/sand table is well worth the money just for the pleasure of watching my Grandson play with it. If you purchase this item you will not be sorry.

Bought this for my granddaughters second birthday. Her mom did not want her to have a traditional sandbox because of sand in the diaper issues and the fear that cats would use it as a litter box. This toy eliminates both problems. The lid fits nice and tight stands up to Kansas winds. Ellia loves it. the first words out of her mouth when she gets home from the sitters is "Sandbox!"

We got this just the other day, and he absolutely loves it! It's easy to put together, the plugs on the bottom is a GREAT to empty out. The umbrella is a little too short, but my kid is tall for 3 so, that might have something to do with it, and the bridges have nothing holding them in the toy (when he drives his little cars over the bridge, it slips and his jeeps goes right in) But other than that great toy for learning, exploring and getting just plain messy!

My 3 year old son loves playing with his toys in the sand and water. The only downside is that the compartments are a little small. However, it does the job in providing lots of fun! We really like the adjustable height!

My granddaughter is 2 and she loves this toy, it has adjustable legs so it will grow with her. For the winter we put sand in both sides but intend to put water in is this spring. There are drains on both sides so it is easy to empty and move, the lid has straps on it that lock it down tight. I am confident that the straps will hold the lid against kids, animals and wind. I am confident that this toy will hold up for years.

My 3 year old loves to fill 1/2 with sand 1/2 with water (as inteneded) and then shoveling all of the sand into the water. This table keeps him occupied for at least 30-45 minutes. Sometimes he lets mom and dad help shovel the sand, sometimes he wants to do it all on his own. It is a pain to empty the water when the sand's covering the plug, but we manage. - Toddler - Water Table - Kids Outdoor Toys - Sand And Water Activity Center'

Pixi - att

This phone has a few nice features but is missing some I consider essential. Service (if it can be called that...) provider AT&T.

PROS:

Keyboard. The keyboard has a nice feel and is well designed. The "." and "@" keys are separate, and the most-used symbols are right on the the keys so texting is breeze. The threaded text feature is also nice (all texts between you and any given recipient are grouped together).

Size. It's quite small and light (fits in a pocket).

Display. The display area is fairly small but of good quality. It also allows for horizontal tilt, so if you're watching a video, it's like a mini TV screen.

Signal strength indicator. This seems to be more accurate than on other phones I've used (in places where my other phone from AT&T shows full bars but frequently drops calls, this one showed only 1 or no bars.)

Quick launcher. Similar to the dock on a Mac, it's an area on the main screen where the user can quickly access a few of the most-used apps; the apps displayed there can be changed by the user.

WebOS. Pretty smooth, easy to use.

CONS:

Slooooow start up. From powered off mode to available for any function is >2 minutes. Too long if you need to make a call in a hurry.

NO VOICE COMMANDS THIS PHONE. I've got a daily car commute so this was a real problem. The last 3 generations of phones I've bought used voice commands. I would tap my bluetooth headset, speak the name of the person I wanted to call et voila!, the call is made. And hitting the bluetooth doesn't "wake up" the phone. It goes into sleep mode (settings = 30 secs to 3 mins). Once asleep, you have to hit the power button, make a sliding motion on the screen to unlock and then hit the phone icon just to get it into calling mode. From there, if a number is in speed dial you can hit that letter on the keypad and it will dial. Otherwise, you can start inputting on the keyboard the name of the person on your contact list, or input the number on the fussy touch keypad, but that's too close to texting and really too much distraction while driving. Even when not driving, it really requires too many steps to make a call once the phone has been asleep.

Battery life. Will not make it through a day of even light use (<1 hour of talk, email check x2, and text x3) on a single charge. This is NOT the phone to take on a 2-day camping trip.

Freezes. It would occasionally get "hung up" on something but give no error message. Rather, it would just stop responding to most (but not all???) commands. For instance, at one point the phone icon (which you need in order to actually place a call) disappeared from the quick launcher and wasn't in the apps menu. Restart (that 2-3 minute process) didn't work, so I had to actually take out the battery (and don't believe Palm when they say you can take off the cover using just your thumbnail) and wait another 2-3 mins for it to restart again. Similar freezes happened several times over a 5-day period.

Numeric keys are only on the touch screen and rather finicky. I have smallish fingers and would frequently get an "8" instead of a "5" or have a number double enter.

Speaker volume. The speaker feature is really only useful to 1 or 2 people in a quiet room. Otherwise, the volume isn't loud enough to heard by a group.

AT&T's customer service. I've really lowered my expectations of service over the past several years, but AT&T reached new lows during this episode. I won't bore you with the details, but will say that one AT&T supervisor, reviewing the notes on my account of the nightmare process to get this phone once I had paid for it, and then to get it up & running, was "the worst [she'd] ever seen". She was very apologetic, gave me the top secret address (even SHE had trouble finding it) for AT&T's corporate complaint department and encouraged me to write them.

BOTTOM LINE: Despite the cool things this phone can do, I am going to have to return it. First and foremost, I need a phone to be a phone, and when it takes more than 3 steps to make a call, it's just too many. That, combined with the fact that it can't make it for the 10 hours I'm away from home on a full charge with only light use, makes it not worth the hassle. Palm Pixi Plus Phone (AT&T)

Being an AT&T Palm Centro user for 2 years, I was excited that AT&T restarted selling Palm phones and I was hoping that the Pixi Plus would be the next generation Centro (that is all the nice features of the touch screen and real keyboard but with newer functions). It indeed had all the newest features as advertised, such as ease of switching between applications, a more inquisitive touch screen/menu system, etc. The USB plug charger was convenient and made it easier to transfer ringtones, etc from a computer to the phone. (In short, it does everything it advertizes, more or less)

However, it has 2 flaws which were fatal to me as a Centro user. First, it does not use the Palm HotSync manager program to synchronize contacts and calendars from Outlook to the phone using the Outlook conduit. It offers some synchronize programs but none for Outlook and none that make a direct connection with a computer, they use current online mail systems to do this. If you want to sync with Outlook, you are directed to third party suppliers that charge for their programs. (Again, the Centro had this feature at no extra cost and I wasn't willing to buy a third party program if I wasn't sure it would do the same thing) Second, it has no Bluetooth "dial up networking" aka tethering ability to use the phone as a internet modem via a laptop. With the exception of the IPhone that doesn't tether, I have tried several phones that connect right up using Bluetooth so I can access the internet from my laptop. Since the Centro on AT&T does not have 3G data, I was looking forward to faster internet tethering from my laptop but the Bluetooth pairing with the laptop did nothing, I couldn't even use to transfer simple files.

So if these 2 issues don't effect you than go for it as it seems like a fun easy phone. - Att'

D Batteries - battery, alkaline batteries

Old Review: These bateries seem to be seconds or rejects from the manufaturer.

I purchased two 12-packs of these "D" cell batteries. When I received them I opened both sealed packages and found at least half of the batteries in each pack were dented on the sides near the tops or bottoms and others were scratched. They all have expiration dates of DEC 2017, measured above 1.6 volts and don't seem to be leaking, so they might be just fine. I reported the problem to Amazon so maybe you won't have the same experience.

New Review: I decided to buy some more of these batteries, and this time they were perfect. Even the ones I received before, which were physically damaged on the outside, have worked very well and lasted a long time. I changed the rating from 3 to 5 stars. Rayovac ALD-12 UltraPRO Alkaline D Batteries, 12-Pack

I tried to use a mag light that didn't work and when I opened it up, I found the batteries had corroded dreadfully. It took treating with mild soda water to remove the batteries at which point, I found that I had damaged the reflector in the process. The batteries were Rayovac Dec 2016.

A second mag light worked but I could only remove one battery due to corrosion. Again Rayovac Dec 2016. Their warranty requires sending the original packaging and the original receipt. Really, who keeps those things around for small purchases?

Update: I heard back from Ray-O-Vac via email and per their instructions, mailed the damaged flashlights with batteries included. I was pleasantly surprised to receive later a check to cover the cost of replacement. Then, a couple weeks later another package arrived with replacement batteries.

I am pleased with their efforts to reconcile the issue and must conclude that i must have bought a defective set of batteries.

I like this package because it is sturdy and a very good way to store your unused batteries. Most other batteries have flimsy packaging that starts falling apart or becoming unstable for the remaining batteries as soon as you remove a few.

The last time I researched the topic several years ago Rayovac alkalines were found to be of about the same quality as Duracell. Obviously they don't spend as much money on advertising, which may explain why they are less expensive.

After a recent evening power outage that lasted several hours, I decided to better prepare myself by purchasing some backup lighting. Along with three of these Dorcy 41-1016 Indoor/Outdoor Table Lamp, Colors May Vary I purchased a 12-pack of the D batteries required to equip the three lamps.

Turned out to be a good combination at a reasonable cost. The power went out again last week and I had plenty of long-lasting light to read by. These batteries seem to be just as good as the more expensive Alkalines at a fraction of the price.

I was in line at S/n/F Thursday afternoon needing some D size for an automatic trash can. I looked down and saw 2 packs for $6.50 ea. and I need 4 batteries. When I got home I found this 12 pack for $13 on Amazon and immediately ordered them and had them on Saturday morning at my door with Amazon Prime. Such a deal.

Rayovacs are better the other two major brands just cheaper. I use AA & AAA rechargeables on all my electronic and led lights. They last for years.

Good value, was nice to have in the plastic case. I take these camping for use in my portable Sirius boombox, and the lot lasts all weekend. Don't know if other brands would be the same, these are the only batteries I've ever put in it, and I am not disappointed.

I haven't bought D cells in a long time but found myself in need of some thanks to an upcoming baby. The baby swing and mobile above the crib both required D cells. These seem to work fine and are a decent price, [...]

I was very pleased to find these batteries at a great price. I use them to power my Pelican 2360 for duty use and seem to last a bit longer that duracell or engergizers. Rayovac Ultra line is the only brand a major oil refinery selected as its vendor. The contractor pack helps keep them in secure and in order. - Alkaline Batteries - Camping - Battery'
