Arena Rock - led zeppelin, blues rock

Containing some of Zeppelin's very best tracks, "Physical Graffiti" is definitely worth the price of two discs. Like most double albums, it can get a little excessive... but if you've purchased their first 4 albums and still can't get enough, this is a must have! "Kashmir" is essential by itself and possibly the best song the group ever recorded... a majestic epic that fuses rock, blues, and middle eastern influnces... all the things Zep is known to do best! Then there's the blistering "Trampled Under Foot" which has one of Page's best riffs of all time and a funky clavinet played by the multi-talented John Paul Jones. Plant is in top form on the spiritual catharsis of "In My Time of Dying" with John Bonham providing the raw energy all the way through. Disc one is more consistent, but disc two offers a wide variety of gems such as the building ballad "Ten Years Gone" which offers some of Robert's best lyrics to date, the fun old-timey feel of "Boogie With Stu", the countrified acoustic track "Black Country Woman", and the wild "Wanton Song". Many of these tracks have the feel of b-sides (which is essentially what they were) and makes them even more fun to listen to. One of the few double LPs to truly be worth purchasing (along with the Beatles White Album, Stevie Wonder's Songs In the Key of Life, George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, and Pink Floyd's The Wall), Physical Graffiti is the high water mark of Led Zeppelin's career. Physical Graffiti

If you can understand sheet music and are attempting to master any instrument (from a cello to a tuba) you might want to take a look at the scripts for this album. You'll be devistated! Also, if you are interested in making an album and happen to own a studio, you might find a listen to Physical Graffiti to provide a very instructive statement the limits of how complex mixing and multi-tracking get.

Sure, a few tracks on the ablum: Custard Pie and Trampled Under Foot, are probably the best embodiment of the blues-rock Zep-sound that most people are familiar with, but after those tracks, the album turns into a zen statment on overindulgence. Normally, I might agree that musical overkill is a bad thing, but there's a right time and place for everything; and within the framework of this album, overkill becomes baroque. I argue that only Zep could pull this off.

Beginning with Kashmir, the album lays track upon track until many songs (ie: In the Light, Ten Years Gone) are orchestrated with somtimes 7 or 8 different guitar tracks and 3 or 4 different bass tracks. Bach himself might be proud of such hefty orchestration. Throw in JPJ's keyboards, along with several exotic instruments such as mellotrons and vibrophones, and you've got yourself a saturated hard-rock symphony. Many of the songs, such as Kashmir, In The Light, and Ten Years Gone, are very cerebral, creating a soothing Indian Raga-like effect, while others sustain a hectic Occidental pace (ie: Rover, Night Flight) but are never abrasive to the ear.

I feel that the overall album gets a bum rap sometimes, because many people would prefer to hear the more concise and abbreviated sound associated with the pentatonic riffs of earlier Led-days (ie: Whole Lotta' Love, Heartbreaker). They complain that this album is overindulgent, solos are extended too long, etc.. But they never really explain why this makes the album less worthy than say, the Runes Album. I think that the intent of the album was to push the manifold of hard-rock overindulgence and the result is the raga-like, baroque musical symphony from the '70s that is Physical Grafitti.

I would not hesitate to say that this is the best album from the 70's hard-rock genre; if not the best rock and roll album of all time.

Wow. As Zeppelin's most ambitious statement, and their first and only double album, Physical Graffiti would hypothetically be a contender for greatest rock album of all time it it weren't for Zoso (Not that I'm complaining or anything! :-)) Custard Pie is blues on speed, while being squashed under the skillful wah-wah pedal of Jimmy Page. The Rover simply rocks. It combines headbanging with flair in a musical statement that is hard to overestimate. In My Time of Dying contains some of the best spitfire-blues slide guitar you'll ever hear.Houses of The Holy is a great, catchy pop-rock song that just makes you wanna get up and get your schwerve on.Trampled Under Foot is pure, 100%, unfiltered headbanging enjoyment.Jimmy Page & Robert Plant both agree that "Kashmir" was their greatest work. I say they're just being humble about "Stairway to Heaven", but Kashmir is a close second. (Man, Puffy really pissed me off when he did "Come With Me"! Ruined a great song! (Yeah I know Jimmy helped him, but I think Jimmy was just trying to expose a new generation of listeners to Zeppelin, which is honorable))In The Light has two distinct moods: A peaceful, glorious side, and a dark, foreboding, heavy metal side. These two moods throw you back and forth until you're dizzy, which is a good thing.Bron-Y-Aur is an acoustic track kinda hidden amidst greatness, but it's actually Jimmy Page's best perfomance on this album! As a guitarist, trust me. This is NOT an easy song to play! Very pretty, too.Down By The Seaside is a really peaceful little song, with really cretive use of a tremolo effect on Page's guitar. Gets you in the mood for the next two songs.Ten Years Gone is the middle track of PG's "mellow part", and really lets the listener appreciate Zeppelin's flair and subtleties.Night Flight is a great ballad that, while overall pretty subdued, starts to rock up the album a little again, as to get you ready for....The Wanton Song! Headbanging conviently wrapped in a sleek, 4:06 package for your enjoyment! You'll find Boogie With Stu kinda silly the first couple times you hear it, but the more you listen to it, the more you're gonna wanna get up and, well, boogie!Black Country Woman is some great acoustic blues that really convey the blues to the listener. And finally, Sick Again is a great romping, rockin' closer that, along with the overall effect of the album, will leave you breathless. So BUY THIS ALBUM, for god sakes! - Classic Rock - Led Zeppelin - Blues Rock - Arena Rock'

wireless router - wireless router

Just purchased this Belkin wireless N150 as my old Lynksis router failed on me after 6 years of good use. I hooked the router to the modem and computer and plugged it in - it recognized it immediately and everything was great on he direct connection to our desktop. I then fired up the laptop and it recognized the new router right away - after entering the security password (taped to the side of the router in the box) I was up and running on my laptop through the wireless signal.

I have your basic 1000 sq foot above ground ranch. I wanted to see the connection and signal that I would receive in the opposite corner of our finished basement. Took that laptop down there and full strength.

I have only had it up and running for about an hour but so far couldn't have been any easier to hook it up an get online. Belkin Connect N150 Wireless N Router

I bought this router to stream Netflix to my TV via a Roku box. It was extremely easy to set up and there were no problems with streaming the videos. I mention this because the first router I bought, a D-Link, simply didn't work for this. After spending about 9 hours talking to about 15 people from Roku, Netflix, D-Link, and AT&T, I finally found someone who knew what the problem was. He said D-Link routers, while not necessarily bad, had certain issues that prevented my Roku box from being able to access Netflix servers. He suggested I buy a Belkin or Linksys and I should have no problem. He was right. It only took a few minutes to install the Belkin with the disc provided, and after doing a factory reset on the Roku box and activating it once again, the videos were streaming with no problem. I didn't have to call tech support once, which for me is unusual. I would like to mention that my router is only about 20 feet from my TV and Roku and I am not set up for HD. For those who need a wider range and want HD, you will probably do better with one of the more high-end models offered by Belkin. But if you just want a good, cheap, basic router to cover a small area, this is the one for you.

Who knew a router could change your life? I'm an idiot when it comes to computers. I've never been able to connect wirelessly with this computer until I connected this router. Seriously, I had two computer folks attempt in the past. No dice. When it wouldn't connect wirelessly with this Belkin router, a "Belkin is attempting to fix" window popped up and two seconds later, I was connected wirelessly.

Our cable/dsl dude told us Belkin makes the best routers, I'm happy I listened to him. This router rocks! It was so easy to get this thing going. I put in the set up CD, clicked next a few times and entered the Network Name and Password from the enclosed card and I was on. I love Belkin. Thank you!

I recently purchased it to setup a basic Wifi within my house, and found this to be by far the easiest router to setup (I've used a DLink and a Cisco basic router previously). Managed to get this setup and up-and-running in 15 mins flat, and was extremely happy and satisfied.

However, after using it for a day, I was extremely annoyed by the constant dropping of the connection from the router - the router would stay connected to the internet, but it would keep disconnecting the laptop from itself.

Called up tech support in frustration, and they said it's a known issue, and that upgrading the firmware would resolve it. Kudos to Belkin for making that a very simple process as well - the entire upgrade/setup process was over in less than 10 mins, and I was up and running again. The # of instances of the router randomly dropping connections had dropped, but not disappeared completely. I finally set a dedicated channel for the connection, post which this issue doesn't exist for me anymore.

I would go ahead and recommend this router because it's cheap, extremely easy to setup, and does everything it's designed for.

So, after about 8 years, my Netgear router finally passed on. It gave me signal, but no connectivity anywhere and after spending an hour to revive and reconfigure it, I gave up and moved on. Since I have a laptop and an iPhone both using WIFI, I pretty much needed a new router right away. I went out and looked at routers and this router caught my eye, due to the price and the simplicity of pre-set security. I don't have a huge space to cover, so I figured this router was worth a shot.

It's been about 4 months and I couldn't be happier with this router. Good range, great performance and reliability at a very low price. I work for an Internet Service Provider in their Tech Support department and recommend this router on a regular basis for those people who are looking for an easy, reliable and low-priced quality router.

If you have any doubts, don't. Just do it! Unless you live in a huge mansion, this will do the job in most single family homes and apartments. Plus, no worries about neighbors leeching off of your internet because this comes pre-set with security!

I've been using this router for about 5 months now and about half the time it works as it should. The setup is extremely easy, but the router often won't connect and it takes about a half hour to an hour of trouble shooting and reseting the router before it just suddenly begins to work properly. Range is obviously not the issue as the space I use my laptop in is well within the range specified by the manufacturer. I would not recommend this router. The price is great, but the product is not reliable.

Started having a chronic disconnect problem when I switched from DSL to Cable. I purchased the N150 model for less than $30 clams to replace the existing High Speed Wireless G. Once it arrived I connected the new power source and used the existing cables to the new N150 modem and the desktop. It did not need any other install procedures. Never even opened the install CD. Immediately, it worked great and we have a 4 bedroom one story home using 4 different laptops and 2 desktops. I would recommend this one for typical residential use. It has been problem free and faster for the 1 week of use since it arrived. January 2011. - Wireless Router'

All In One Printer - photo printer, inkjet printer

Canon replaced the ip4700 with the ip4820. It is virtually the same printer but with different ink chips. You cannot buy generic inks (as of 1-18-11) for your ip4820 as you could the ip4700. I own about 200 canon printers and 200 canon cameras. I love Canon but I cannot afford your high cost ink set. And last, Canon please make it an option in your driver or firmware to be able to stop random, endless, printer head cleanings. It is annoying, slows done photo printing and wastes expensive ink. There is a reason why the older ip3000 is a highly sought after printer on the used market. Cheap inks, no chips, no random deep cleanings, great print quality.

I would not suggest buying this printer unless you want to pay really high ink costs. Canon PIXMA iP4820 Premium Inkjet Photo Printer (4496B002)

We have used Canon PIXMA printers for five years. They have all been affordable upfront costs and reasonable ink costs. They have all been very impressive with photo prints they have created.

We didn't want a scanner. Already have one that is fantastic (it is an HP). We don't need a memory card reader. We only need a printer. The PIXMA iP4820 fits that perfectly! This one replaces the four year old iP4300 that did a very good job. It has certainly improved the speed and image quality.

I needed a simple printer without the "bells and whistles" so I bought this for only $79.00 from Adorama Camera Inc as a replacement for my Canon iP4000 that went on the blink after 5 yrs of good service. So far I am quite pleased with its performance. It has a much better human interface than my old printer and printing is exceptional. However, it is slower than the iP4000 and not as quiet. If I can get another five years of good service from this machine it will be more than worth the small investment.

Printer is quiet, fast, and real easy to use. I have an aging Canon i9900 and the Pixma 4820 actually does a better job of printing 8x11 photos on Canon Pro Platinum paper using the included Canon printing software. Really pleased with the results. Also prints text-based black and white documents really fast.

I like everything except the price of the ink. I will only use Canon ink as I have had trouble in the past using "compatible" inks. The print quality is good...but, again...the ink is expensive. At least the tanks are separate so you don't have to throw out a whole cartridge if one color runs out.

I got this printer 3 days ago. Installed easily and worked as advertised. Very quiet. Not sure about ink consumption yet, photos are very, very clear. The paper placement is a little different than the IP4000 I previously had, but just something to get used to. The size is perfect for me. - Canon Photo Printer - Photo Printer - Pixma - Inkjet Printer'

Travel Power Strip - travel, europe travel

Bought this for a business trip to Israel. Using this there also required an adapter for the main plug (as the plug this comes with is not the kind used in Israel), but along with the adapter this power strip worked very well. As others have mentioned this is a bit bulky; six separate adapters would definitely be less bulk. But this power strip does allow you to plug in 6 items and only take up one wall outlet, so that's why you would get this. Also you must remember that the power this supplies is still 240V, so you must ensure that all of the things you want to plug into it are 240V compatible. I found that all of the things I wanted to plug into it were indeed both 110 & 240 compatible (laptop, iPad/iPod, cell phone charger). Just check every item beforehand for voltage compatibility and you'll find this to work well... if you can afford the space it will take up in your luggage. VCT USP600 - Worldwide 110V / 220V / 240V Universal Power Strip / Surge Protector with 6 Universal Outlets Window Shutters & Circuit Breaker 15Amp for Use in Any Country

We purchased this item prior to a trip to Italy. We used it with an adapter for the grounded Italian outlet, and were able to charge our camera, 2 cell phones, and GPS with just using one wall outlet. It worked great, and I would highly recommend it!

We took the Universal Power Strip on a trip to France and Germany. It has a US plug, so you need an adapter to use it in Europe. No problem since we had one.

Positives: Cord is long enough for situations where the outlet is difficult to get to. It allowed us to recharge everything at once. (Just make sure your stuff is 220V compliant--most computers, cell phones, cameras, and shavers are.)

Negatives: It has an internal shutter for safety that made it difficult to plug some things in. Items with thick sturdy prongs went in easily, but items with thinner prongs were troublesome. It possible the shutter might loosen up with more use. Also, the thing was a little larger than I expected, bigger than many US power strips because it has to accommodate the European and British prongs.

Not every hotel had a lot of outlets, so I think it was a good purchase.

I'm from Chile and I lived several years in France and Spain: these places use the plug known as "europlug" (two-prong plug). When I moved to the US, it was a nightmare to get adapters for every device I have. Cheapest adapters don't fit plugs perfectly, a small movement is enough to disconnect the device. This power strip makes unnecessary to spend on adapters, all devices are plugged in firmly and securely to the strip, using their original electric outlets. The strip has an US style plug already, then it is not necessary to buy anything else.

The only problem is that polarized US plugs don't fit. And you need to be certain that your devices are 220V-110V compliant, this power strip doesn't convert voltage.

Very satisfied. Tried 3 other suppliers, and none of them had what we were looking for. This power strip has a type B american style plug; and is 220V compliant. I was shipping a system to Thailand (where they use type B with 240V) and couldn't find a power strip they could use - thank goodness this one was available. Supplied as stated, RoHS compliant, CE certified.

A sturdy, well built unit. Has 6 universal input ports. Off-on switch is nice touch.

Although, just a personal desire, I wish the mains cable was much shorter to reduce traveling weight.

Overall, a good unit.

I brought this when I moved to Liberia and am so glad I did!

The plugs work for all shapes - which is good, since everything here seems to have a different plug. It's good with different voltages, also important because there's no standardized electrical voltage.

We have serious problems with electricity surges, shut-offs, etc. - and so far this seems to protect things fine. It's also much more durable than anything I can find here.

Traveling back to US soon and buying another one or two!

This product was exactly what we needed for our trip to South Africa. We were able to charge all our electronic devices wherever we went without worrying about variable power issues. Won't be traveling without it going forward. - Travel Power Strip - Power Strip - Europe Travel - Travel'

Package - mailing, packing

It's bubble wrap. There isn't much to review because, frankly, how hard could it be? I will say that the seller shipped very fast. The roll was huge and great for my moving needs. Also much, much cheaper than buying overpriced smaller rolls from retail stores. I recommended this seller to my family when they were moving. Once of their rolls never arrived. They got in contact with the seller and he overnighted them a new roll, no questions asked. I hope I don't have to move again for awhile but if I do, I am definitely going to make this purchase again. 1/2" x 125' x 12" Bubble Wrap (Large Bubbles)

not much to say on this one other than that its as described. We use this to ship telephones and it works great.

The only downside is the guilt I feel when I realize how ridiculous it is to ship bubble wrap in a huge box to me, only to be shipped back out and then tossed out. The process just seems wasteful.

I used this bubble wrap on stainless steel rails from my boat's flybridge when I had the boat trucked from California to Washington. The rails arrived without a scratch and they did not damage the deck or house of the boat on which they were trucked. - Packing - Shipping - Package - Mailing'

Musical Doorbell - cordless doorbell, door chime

I bought this product specifically because it said it had a 450-foot working range, I placed it 120 feet away and it wouldn't work, with new batteries on both the button and the receiver. I was forced to place the Portable Wireless Door Chime at a location that was not the optimum placement just to get it to work. Other than this serious issue the product is nicely built, simple to operate and install. Honeywell RPWL300A1007/A Decor Wireless Surface Mount Push Button

I live in a house built in 1917 with thick plaster walls and this just doesn't work for me. I have 3 outside doors so I bought a bell and two additional buttons, programing each to a different ring. Only the one closest to the bell works. The next closest works maybe 1/3 of the time, the furtherest from the bell, not at all.

This might not be a problem in a newer house with drywall or plywood paneling walls.

If your wired doorbell quit or you donot have 1 then I recommend this unit. It is loud enough to be heard and takes 1 "c" battery you furnish. The 1 cell batteries for push buttons come with unit. It has several different tones, so you can have one for front and different for back. Only negative is you have to purchase the extra push button. Assembley is a snap, as installation. You can either mount the unit on a wall or set it out of the way. I have mine on fridge.

Not a bad price of $9.99 but would be nice if the chimes came with 2 of these doorbells instead of 1. I think most people would use 2. But considering how inexpensive the chime & 1 doorbell was ($38), this price was really no big deal.

Works great with the wireless chime. Easy to program.

Honeywell RPWL303A1004/A Decore Wireless Surface Mount Push Button

The doorbell was easy to install, continues to work well, completely satisfactory. I had one problem understanding the installation instructions, but the customer service 800 number was very helpful and provided a solution to my problem.

I have no complaints with the function of this product - it works with the wireless doorbell system just fine. I do not like the mounting options for the push button. The product comes with a small piece of double-sided adhesive foam, but I would not recommend using that for a permanent installation. It also comes with two screws to mount the back plate of the push button to the door frame. This would be perfect, but the holes on the plastic are not punched out!

I had to use a small nail punch to remove the initial plastic. Then I had to drill the holes just slightly to make them wide enough to accept the screws that shipped with the product. After these minor modifications, everything is fine. I'm just disappointed that Honeywell couldn't do this for their customers as part of the fabrication process.

So as long as you own a nail punch, rubber mallet, drill, and both flat and phillips screwdrivers - you should have no problem mounting this product correctly.

The doorbell button works well with the Honeywell base unit, and seems to have a good range. It uses a button-cell battery which should last one or two years of normal use. The unit can be mounted with the included foam tape, or with two screws. I used the screws because I like a more solid installation. It has a small light that flashes when pressed so that people know it is working.

You have to make sure that you exert some pressure on the doorbell button in order for the chime to work. It is not a problem if you know it, but some people just touch the button when they ring a doorbell. Installation was a snap after I drilled out the holes for the screws.

I recnetly purchased the Honeywell RPWL300A1007/a Decor Wireless surface mount push button. Well designed, easy installation, and works perfectly. I highly recommend this product as it is will designed, and holds up well. - Doorbell - Wireless Doorbell - Cordless Doorbell - Door Chime'

Wiper Blades - wiper blades

The latitude blades are a perfect fit for my VW gti 08. At first glance, things don't seem right, but after reading the instructions, I figured out I needed to remove the existing bracket for the ptb bracket included in the package. First blade took about 15 minutes, second blade took 5 seconds. Don't let the dealership charge you an arm and a leg for something so simple. Saved at least half of what they would charge you to install new blades. At such a low price and free shipping on amazon, you can't beat this. RAIN-X LATITUDE WIPER BLADE -- 19"

Both blades have parts where the blade doesn't press firmly against the glass. I could have rated it a 2 or a 3.Bottom line is either it works as supposed to or it doesn't. It doesn't.BTW, my vehicle is a 2009 F150. - Wiper Blades'

Blackberry Screen Protector - screen protector, screen protectors

These are great screen protectors. They are inexpensive too. I bought them and am still on my first because they are very durable and hardly noticeable. No bubbles whatsoever. I may pick up another pack just to make sure I'll never need another screen protector again. 3 Pack of Premium Crystal Clear Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for Blackberry Bold 9700

I'm really satisfied. It's really cheap compared to the ones I've seen at stores. It came with a cloth, which is nice. I wasted one when I got it first because I did it wrong and got dust underneath it, but it's been smooth so far. I suggest it for anyone who wants to buy a screen protector.

It's funny that every one comments how great the screen protectors are. That's is all fine and dandy but i fail to realize why nobody comments about the product title. ANTI-GLARE!!!!! These are definitely not anti-glare screen protectors. Good screen protectors, yes, BUT NOT ANTI-GLARE. Am i the only one that sees this as false advertisement?

These are the first screen protectors that really fit well and when properly applied,

they are "invisible". Make sure to use the microfiber cloth to wipe off screen otherwise anything on the screen will create little bubbles under the protector and are there to stay.

Great product.

Jim

This screen protector is much nicer than I expected. It's nearly invisible, and the display looks just as nice as it did before. Even the few small scratches I had before putting this on are now invisible. However, it's a bit tricky to apply. Here are my hints -- hopefully this will be helpful. 1) Clean the screen very carefully and completely before applying the protector. 2) Make sure there's no dust remaining on the screen. 3) Carefully remove the first tab from the screen protector, and get ready to position it over the screen. 4) Align it along only one edge of the screen at first. 5) Carefully smooth out the screen protector, starting from the edge and continuing over the entire screen. The idea is to avoid trapping bubbles under the screen protector, this is easier if the screen protector goes on from one edge first. 6) Peel off the top protective layer from the screen protector. It took me a few false starts before I worked out this approach; the result works very well for me.

This item was AWFUL. it advertises as specailly for 9700 but instead its a generic item and it was too small and all the dust kept creeping in !!

this product was ridiculous and it was sent from CHINA and i wish someone returned my money .

DONT BUY..DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...DONT BUY...

This item worked as promised. Only one problem. BIG PROBLEM! The sticker lables that are afixed to pull the item apart WILL NOT COME OFF! I've tried everything. Now I have a patch of glue/paper at the top part of this on my screen. Won't buy again. You decide.

These screen protectors are simply garbage and complete waste of money. I wasted all three of them and wasn't able to properly apply on the screen. It gets lots of bubbles and strange scratches on the sticky side and you can see these scratches on the screen when you finally apply them, not mention all the dust that it catches from the air. And most important thing is you can't take off little paper straps attached to them because they are glued so hard you have to use acetone to take them off. Don't waste your money, look elsewhere.

The company that sent this out stated that it was a screen protecter for my Blackberry....But the one that came was soooooo small.. I knew right off the bat that it wasn't for my phone.

I gave them to my son..they fit perfect on his small screened MP3 Player..

I'll never order from this company again. - Screen Protectors - Blackberry Screen Protector - Screen Protector - Bold 9700'

Fridge Filter - water filter, 4396508

On this site it says they are tested for ANSI/NSF 42 AND 53, however, when I received the filters, the box only claims tested for standard 42. This is important because standard 53 is for the reduction of Lead, Mercury, Benzene, p-Dichlorobenzene,Toxaphene and Carbofuran. You might not have these elements in your water, but you should know what you're paying for! Water Sentinel WSW-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 3-Pack

I have a WSW-1 and the end blew off and started shooting water out the front of the refrigerator and all over the floor. Fortunately we were in the next room when it happened. If we had been away it could have caused thousands of dollars of water damage. In the future I will spend a little more money and get the Kenmore brand filters.

I will reserve judgment on this filter for a few months. I was disappointed by a couple of things. It is NOT "NSF" rated. Also, there is a petroleum jelly-type lubricant that must be smeared around the ill fitting o-rings to ensure a leak-free seal. Hullo ???? I never had to do anything like this with a "name brand" water filter. If this thing leaks, I will be most upset. Will keep an eye on it for a while.

In the future I am likely to go back to the name brands.

I sent the following message to Water Sentinel on 11/30/10 and have not received a response as of 12/16/10. Will sell my "inventory" at a steep discount! :)

The other afternoon the water filter in my KitchenAid refrigerator blew up for no apparent reason. See attached photo. Fortunately I was nearby and able to shut off the water quickly and avoid any major damage, but if I was at work and it pumped water into my house for even a few hours, or traveling for two weeks at a time it could have easily done tens of thousands of damage to my home. I now have four filters left from a six-pack that was purchased recently. Are these filters any good, or should they be tossed and replaced with something of better quality? What suggestions do you have for avoiding this problem in the future, or do we have to shut off the water every time we leave the house?

This filter is not a direct replacement for the Whirlpool filter. It is not NSF rated, and has only one filtration element, not the three in the factory filter. They should have made this clear that it was not a replacement, but a less-effective substitute. Perhaps I should have realized this given the price was much less than a true replacement.

This item is made by Water Sentinel. But, if you search "Whirlpool 4396508", the result you get is shown as "3 Pack Whirlpool 4396508 Replacement Filter by Water Sentinel by Whirlpool". The extension of "BY WHIRLPOOL" drops only when you click that link and get to the page of product. And there, it shows a picture of Whirlpool filter, NOT a WATER SENTINEL filter.

I have ordered these filters many times and have had no problems with the Water Sense brand. We have not noticed any difference in taste, filtration or duration. If the filter is not installed correctly (1/4 turn ONLY) the pressure will push (explode?) the filter out and water will run out. - Whirlpool Water Filter - Refrigerator Water Filters - 4396508 - Water Filter'
