Sauna Suit - exercise, sauna suit
I was excited to start my training using my new thermal suit. I got through my first work out with it and after the first use the darm thing ripped both the top and pants have big holes in them! I bought the suit three sizes to big so that I could have room in it to continue my regular training. I am very dissapointed that after only one use the suit is already ripped. I can only imagine how the material would hold up in a washing machine! I would not recommend this to anyone!!!!! Altus Athletic Thermal Training Suit (XX-Large/XXX-Large)
DO NO BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY...... If you value your money you would not waste it on this. I've bought several sweat suits like this over a couple of years & this one by far is the worst! I only used it ONLY 2 TIMES & it tore from the shoulder all the way down to my elbow on 1 side & then when I wore for the 3 time the other shoulder torn. This Altus sweat suit says its vinyl, BUT IT'S NOT! AND IF IT IS, THEN IT IS A CHEAP CHEAP LOW GRADE VINYL!!!
I bought a vinyl Altus sweat suit years back and it was a very hard & durable suit (which the suit did last for years), but when it started to tear (just recently), I thought I would be smart and buy another, but the it's not the same grade, so that is why i'm writing this feedback.
PLEASE DONT IGNORE MY FEEDBACK, YOU WILL BE SORRY.....
These suits run fairly large. So even if you think you need a pretty large size, order a size smaller. That being said, I bought 2, just in case. The pants ripped on the 3rd wearing of only treadmill action. I tried duct taping them but that only made them painful with chafing. No good. Otherwise, they worked really well. They really make you sweat. But if they rip that easily, then it kind of defeats the purpose.So...buyer beware.
Its ok. Material has held up for a few days now. But while using it, it feels like
you are waring a trash bag and is very distracting. In fact, maybe you should try a trash
bag and see if you can even deal with that before buying this product. As far as it working-
I can't truly tell. But I have sweat more which is what I wanted.
Altus Athletic Thermal Training Suit (XX-Large/XXX-Large)
This was the suit i ordered, Now just to inform you, the suit does make you sweat big time. You don't have to do High activity in order to sweat. Staying active for a good period of time is all you need to start and maintain a very good sweat.
However, I literally Made sure this suit did not slide on anything and made sure my suit while i was wearing it, never touched anything in order to create a tear. But after wearing it roughly 3 or 4 times. And while I was simply sitting on a rug, everything was fine. But when I stood up and took off the pants, They split from butt cheek to butt cheek.
Now my entire suit was huge on me... so me sitting was not going to cause the breakage at all. For some reason I cant explain it but they just ripped beyond belief. i know this suit is only 11 bucks but come one, mines just ripped from sitting on a soft rug ? that makes no since at all. It made me sweat really good, and would maybe consider buying another cheap one after I DUCK TAPE these pants (smile). Would I say its worth the money.... Yes because it does create a wonderful sweat and helps in weight loss. But if you have to keep replacing it time after time and you made sure you take care of it, then that's when it sucks and you should consider getting one wayyyyyy more durable.
Altus Athletic Thermal Training Suit (XX-Large/XXX-Large) is of fair quality. It is important to order your correct size. If you are plus size and less then 250lbs this should fit you with no problem. *Note: this is not neoprene and is more like medium quality plastic rain coat material. * Note: I recommend wearing a white tee and spandex shorts under it to keep from ripping it in the crotch and under arm area.
OK so I can't really complain about the usability of this suit, because I can't use it. I could have sworn I clicked on the xl/xxl but apparently I clicked on xxl/xxxl. Needless to say it is huge. I wanted something I could wear sweat pants etc under but this is soo big that I would have to wear several layers underneath. It does seem to be made well and if it were the right size I would have used it all winter long. The reason I didn't send it back was because it would have cost me more then I paid for it. So I chalked it up to pay attention to what you click on. :)
These plastic suits aren't suppose to be durable, but my last suit lasted a few months before it started to rip. This suit, however, started to rip after just my second use. I only use it to slowly walk around my neighborhood for 3-4 miles. First the pants ripped around the gray stripe area. After a couple more uses, the same area on the other leg ripped too. Now after about ten uses there are two more rips in each of the thigh areas.
The top has not yet ripped because I have merely been walking and my upper body has had nearly no movement.
Ripped sweatsuit should not be used because as the cold wind blow into the wet clothes inside, it gets really uncomfortable, sort of like exercising in the rain.
I might duct tape up the holes until I have the chance to buy a new suit. I intend to buy my new suit at a sporting goods store so I can personally examine the quality of the plastic.
I purchased this suit because I had Altus products before, however I bought it xx-large/xxx-large and even thought it does what it supposed to the bottom of my pants started to tear. So if you plan to purchase this suit it runs larger than advertise. All and all I'm pleased with my purchase. - Exercise - Weight Loss - Sauna Suit - Sauna The Pounds Off'

Best Yoga Mat On The Market
Yoga mats come in three basic thicknesses. At 1/4" this one tops even the thickest sticky mats. Roughly the thickness of two average mats together, this one will help cushion all those boney parts and not bunch up the way two mats together always seem to do. It's not only thicker, it's denser to boot. It's cushion without mushiness. However, this cushion comes at the price of being quite heavy -- more heavy than four average mats combined! Probably not the best choice for a mat you tote around unless you want to get in some extra strength training. This one is the kind you buy, find a place for, and leave it there. Also note that the roll this yoga mat makes is huge, something to consider if between practice storage space is an issue. The "thick" mats at 3/16" will still provide extra cushion without the hassle but if you've tried them and they're still not enough, this might be the way to go. Mats that are about one third as thick as this one (1/16") are good for travel or placing under a thicker mat to provide more traction. The average mats are about 1/8." This mat is also two inches wider than the average mat, 24" is the standard width, and three inches longer than average -- 68" is the standard length.
There are two sides to this and nearly all yoga mats. Look carefully at the 'bumps' on each side of the mat. On most mats, the larger bumps are designed to face upwards to cushion your hands, feet, and knees during poses while keeping your body from dangerously slipping out of alignment. The smaller bumps are designed to face downwards to grip the floor and keep the yoga mat from sliding. With this mat it's slightly different. Manduka's mats have a unique dotted bottom surface that holds the mat in place during your practice. It looks unlike any other mat you've ever seen. This mat also has a brand label on one end. Just like on most but not all mats with a label, it is located on the 'up' side.
You will need to wash this mat once before using it the first time to remove the coating. Instructions for this are included with the mat. This yoga mat will increase in stickiness with use. (So do most mats.) They start out mildly sticky and increase in stickiness the more they are used. If you find yours decreasing in stickiness each time you pull it out, this is the typical sign that a light coating of dust or too much body sweat has accumulated on your mat and it needs a light hand washing with very diluted soap and water. After washing, dry your mat unrolled, inside, and away from sunlight. (Hanging over the shower bar works nicely.)
When you first unroll your mat you will find one end to be a bit curled. Simply alternate the direction you roll your mat (top outside once, then bottom outside next) or the end you start from (curled end once, flat end next time) and you'll find it straightening out more or less over time.
I recommend buying your own yoga mat even if your yoga studio or gym provides them for you. I've worked in many studios and gyms over the years. Sometimes management has mats cleaned often, sometimes not. If you bring your own mat you always know where it's been. :o) Plus, owning your own mat may encourage you to begin valuable practice at home.
For my students who have trouble with their knees in some of the poses requiring the body weight to rest on a knee, I recommend temporarily folding over one end of the mat to get double cushion under the knee while still leaving one layer under the rest of the body. This saves you having to haul more than one mat out each time you practice which can be discouraging especially to the beginner. Manduka BlackMatPRO 71-Inch Yoga and Pilates Mat
First off, I've been practicing ashtanga/power yoga for about a year and a half now. I'm not an expert, but I know what works for me. My hands and feet sweat a lot during class. Most mats I've tried turn into a slip-and-slide after the first 5 minutes. From day one I've had to use a towel under my hands at the front of the mat to keep from collapsing in down dog. I've tried them all, your standard "sticky" mat, a mysore rug, etc. The sticky mat gripped until I got sweaty then it was worthless. The mysore rug needed to be so wet to grip that I ended up sitting on wet spots (not fun). The Black Mat is the only one that works. It grips perfectly and I don't even need the towel under my hands. I also love that it is so thick and dense. It doesn't "follow" me when I jump through, provides plenty of padding for my knees/arms, and is very stable for balancing poses. I even like that it's heavy...it helps tone my arms!
I bought the black mat due to great Amazon Customer reviews. Bottom line with this mat: If you are going to use the mat to constantly go to the yoga studio, buy the Purple Travel Mat from Manduka. If you are keeping this Black mat at home and not needing to travel with it, its an excellent mat. The Purple Travel mat is great for traveling, light weight enough and provided adequate yet firm padding for joints/knees. The Black Mat which I returned due to its weight and bulkiness, is better as a stationery, at home mat. Its depends on where you pratice your yoga. Both Manduka mats a wonderful products.
I have been practicing yoga for nearly 3 years. I feel that the Black Mat is the best investment I have made. Its comforatable for all the floor work, and stable for all the standing and inversions asansa. Its heavy, but no no one is perfect.
I have tight hamstrings. Down-dog is very hard for me, and my version of the asana is rather wide, creating thrust at hands and feet. I bought this mat hoping to get better grip, especially when sweating, than is possible on lighter mats. The extra weight is acceptable, and even the ridiculously high price I can handle in exchange for durability and a truly non-slip surface. Oh well. As delivered, the surface is actually the slickest of any of my four yoga mats. I have used the mat twice, and then went looking for the packaging to return it. But one of my teachers suggested that I scrub it with a stiff brush, hot water, and a little dishwashing detergent. This really helped, and now I really like this mat. I wonder why it doesn't come iwth instructions for this necessary prep-work? Or, better yet, why not ship it ready to use? After all, for $80, one expects a rectangle of rubber that is virtually perfect. Anyway, the prep-work isn't too onerous, just annoying.'

The pace of change in all aspects of our lives is increasing faster than ever. In order to just stay even, businesses, governments and non-profits must become more agile, more adaptable - in short they must accomplish one of the more difficult feats for large organizations - change.
Most change initiatives do not achieve the lofty goals they set out to accomplish. According to the authors, "When change programs fail, it's more often than not down to unproductive management behavior, unhelpful employee attitudes, or both."
But as Scott Keller and Colin Price, the authors, point out, it is not just change in operational efficiency which matters. Change focused on some narrow segment of performance only works in the short term and generally at a very high cost in terms of employee morale.
The authors based on very extensive research carried out over a multi-year period have developed a blue print for change that really works. There is equal emphasis on operational performance and the soft-side of business or what they call health. According to their research, "roughly 50 percent of performance variation between companies is accounted for by differences in organizational health."
In Part I of the book the authors advance the overall premise of the book. That sustained excellence is achieved by paying close attention to performance and health. When seeking to bring about change in any organization, you must focus on both performance and health. The authors have identified five questions which must be answered to bring about desired change.
They have grouped the questions under the following headings:
Aspire: Where do we want to go?
Assess: How ready are we to go there?
Architect: What do we need to do to get there?
Act: How do we manage the journey?
Advance: How do we keep moving forward?
They then break this down further by asking more detailed questions under the same heading for performance and for health.
Part II of the book deals with the five frames in much greater detail. They give examples of each frame in action, showing how various companies put these concepts into action.
Part III of the book ties all the information together.
The book is well written and full of very helpful examples of real life companies. There is plenty of research to back up the concepts they advance.
It is most applicable to larger organizations. While it is easy to understand the theory, I suspect that most companies would do well to seek assistance in trying to implement the study and measurement of the health of their organization. But based on the case studies in the book, the cost of such help is insignificant in relation to the payback.
The information in this book is very compelling. Many books have proclaimed the old command and control management is outdated. But this book takes the soft skills of management - the health of organizations - and shows clearly how it affects the bottom line.
A very important book which should be read and studied and the concepts implemented if you want your organization to be on the leading edge. Beyond Performance: How Great Organizations Build Ultimate Competitive Advantage
Scott Keller and Colin Price acknowledge that although there is a "multitude" of books about business leadership and management already in print (actually, Amazon now offers 16,075 titles), they believe that "no other work offers what we are trying to provide. Our approach combines two views. The first view is of a `stable equilibrium' state of organizational excellence in which high performance can be sustained; the second is of the dynamics of the transition required to reach that state...by combining static and dynamic views of organizations, we aim to arrive at a fuller understanding of their fundamental nature. To that end, we aim to shift the `installed base' of management thinking'...Our central message is focusing on organizational health - which we define as the ability of your organization to align, execute, and renew itself faster that your competitors can - is just important as focusing on the traditional drivers of business performance."
With all that clarified up front, Keller and Price then carefully guide their reader through a five-stage process (appropriately identified as the "5 As") for developing capabilities beyond their current potentialities for performance in order to achieve and then sustain "ultimate competitive advantage." Frankly, I am astonished by the fact that so many C-level executives still do not fully understand that their organization's #1 competitor tomorrow will be what it offers today. Today's performance is measured in terms of specific results. By nature, results occur at the conclusion of a process of effort. The challenge is to become so "healthy" as an organization that the capabilities are there to align, execute, and renew faster than the competition so that the organization can sustain exceptional performance over time.
Keller and Price identify and then discuss what they characterize as the "Nine Elements of Organizational Health." Let's take a brief look at the first five practices that underpin organizational health:
1. Direction: Shared vision, strategic clarity, and employee involvement/engagement
Question: What is the ultimate destination
2. Leadership: Authoritative, consultative, supportive, and challenging
Question: Who will take us there?
3. Culture and climate: Open and trusting, internally competitive, operationally disciplined, and creative and entrepreneurial
Question: Do we really believe in the power of first-person plural pronouns?
4. Accountability: Role clarity, performance contracts, consequence management, and personal ownership
Question: Do we have almost total buy-in on who we are, what we do, how we do it, and why?
5. Coordination and control: People performance review, operational management, and financial management
Question: Do we do what is most important, constantly improve what we do, and measure it?
The other four elements are Capabilities, Motivation, External Orientation, and Innovation and learning. Keller and Price rigorously examine within five frames (i.e. the "5 As"): Aspire ("Where do we want to go?"), Assess, ("How ready are we to go there?") Architect ("What do we need to do to get there?"), Act ("How do we manage the journey?), and Advance (""How do we keep moving forward?"). In Part II, Keller and Price devote a separate chapter to each and then in Part III, help their reader to pull it all together. More specifically, they examine the senior leader's role, how the five separate but interconnected frames can help to make an organization even "healthier," and finally, which specific challenges their reader will probably encounter and how the information, insights, and counsel in the book can help the reader to respond effectively to those challenges.
Some readers will accept Keller and Price's challenge to prepare for the future, others won't. Some will then succeed, others won't. If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, the road to failure in business is paved with "nice tries." I agree with the Jedi Master, Yoda: "Do or do not. There is no try." - E-reader - Kindle Devices - Strategy - Ebook'

Staplers
This stapler is well-designed and well-constructed. All hand contact areas are covered with black rubber material for comfortable use. The stapler's operation is smooth, and the handle is a "low stroke" design which reduces hand fatigue. I found it easy to pull, and was able to fire the stapler by squeezing using just two fingers. The stapler's body is made of "Aircraft Aluminum", so it is strong but lighter than the classic steel-bodied stapler.
Near the front of the stapler there is a "staple size / reload" window, which lets you see what size staples are currently loaded (1/4", 3/8", 1/2" or 6mm, 10mm, 14mm) and whether the stapler is almost empty.
At the front of the stapler there is a thumb wheel which flips the wire guide "cable tracker" down, or up and out of sight. This is a U-shaped piece of metal that protrudes about 1/8" downward from the front of the stapler. It is useful when stapling wires or cables. It shows where the staple's points will emerge (so you don't pierce the wire), and it keeps the front of the stapler from crushing the wire.
At the base of the stapler's handle there is a simple wire handle lock. Squeeze the handle closed, and then engage the handle lock. This is useful for storage, especially if you want to return the stapler to its original hard-plastic packaging.
At the rear of the stapler there is a switch to control the "High-Low Power" feature. You'll need to experiment to determine which setting is best.
I used this stapler for a challenging upholstery project. It smoothly drove 100+ staples into hard oak, without a single jam. I used Stanley-brand staples TRA04T 1/4-inch and TRA06T 3/8-inch; this stapler can also use Arrow-brand staples.
If you are stapling into hardwood, and the staple isn't going all the way in, it might be the fault of the staples rather than the stapler! Consider what size staple you are using. If you are stapling through one layer of thin material, then you should be using 1/4-inch staples, not 3/8-inch staples. In this situation, a 3/8-inch staple won't drive completely into the hard wood and its legs will buckle instead. But a 1/4-inch staple is relatively stiffer and will drive perfectly. If you are stapling through two layers of thicker material, then 3/8-inch staples are the better choice. Staples are inexpensive (but see below), so buy a variety of sizes and experiment to determine which size is best for your project.
If the staple is not quite all the way in, you can finish it off by tapping it with a hammer. But observe carefully -- if the staple is protruding a lot, its legs will buckle and the hammer will flatten the staple rather than driving it. In this case you'll need to remove and redo this staple. A staple remover comes in handy.
One note of caution -- staples are available for purchase here, but as of this writing they are available only from third-party sellers, so their shipping will exceed the price of the staples themselves. Stanley TR250 SharpShooter Plus Heavy Duty Staple/Brad Nail Gun
I've used it on two projects using a total of about 150 staples. When using half inch staples into poplar wood they didn't always go all the way in. However when I adjusted the strength of the pull I had no problem (see lever at back of stapler. This is a cool feature.) I used five sixteenth staples on my second project and had no problems using the low setting. I had no problems with jamming on either project. I gave it four stars for now as I've only used it on two projects and can't speak to durability.
While most of us don't use heavy duty staplers on a daily basis, but if you are like me when you use it you need for it to work. I can say that I have never had an issue with Stanley Sharpshooter. It is never gotten jammed and it is a cinch to replace the staples (T50). In my opinion, I think that Stanley is the bell-weather for heavy duty staplers.
One thing that is a bit of complaint is that it doesn't always penetrate pine flush. In fact, about 30% of the time it leaves about 1/8" of the staple above the surface. While this isn't that big of deal (A flat-head screw driver will pop the staple with little effort). However, if the Stanley Sharpshooter was used in harder wood like Oak the staple may only go into the wood halfway. The question is... how often do you use your stapler in hard wood?
Things that I like
- Never had a miss feed - never jammed
- Easy to replace the staples
- Heavy duty steel construction
Areas for improvement
- It takes a fair amount of hand strength to operate - many women may have problems
- Staple doesn't consistently fully penetrate pine - you may have significant problems in hard wood.
Final verdict-
While there are some minor flaws the Stanley Sharpshooter is an excellent choice for most tool boxes
4 Stars
I use this at work for stapling insulation, plastic sheeting, radiant barriers, etc., and have used thousands of staples with it. I only recall one jam ever, which was easy to clear. This stapler is also lightweight and very quick and easy to reload. Like any stapler I've used it takes a lot of force to squeeze the handle, and after stapling all day my hand does get tired, but this one seems easier to use than others. The construction feels very solid and it seems very durable. I highly recommend this if you want a reliable, lightweight, and easy to load stapler.
I've had my Sharp Shooter Plus for a short time but after more than 2000 staples it has not jammed. If you use the manufacture recommended staples and brads you may not have a jamming problem. The manufacture recommends Stanley TRA 700 series or Arrow T50 staples.
You can easily adjust the force of the brad nailer/staple gun with high/low adjustments. It also accomodates brads ½ to 5/8 inch and staples ¼ to 9/16. It's solidly made and has a good balance in your hands. Mine is actually yellow in color which make it easier to find. There's also a cable/wire guide to assist you in stapling down cables/wires.
I (highly) recommend this tool for your tool box. Uses would apply to screens, signs, upholstery, insulation strips, holiday lights, cables/audio/wiring systems, framing, canvas art, radiant barriers etc. I am an avid DIY'r.'

My Life With A Medical Breakthrough - my life with a medical breakthro, fantastic 55 inch t v
After extensive research on AVSForum, HiDefJunkies, and Flat Panel Reviews, I decided that I wanted the fantastic 2d picture quality, amazing black levels, and 3d without crosstalk for the future and this 55inch set was my choice since it was just a few hundred dollars more than the 50 inch. It arrived today and I could tell the shipping company Amazon used treated the box/set very well (no marks, dents, holes) and by myself I assembled the base and put the TV on it (I suggest you use 2 people for safety). I have a Pioneer Elite 36TX receiver and it doesn't have HDMI switching, so I thought that I was going to have to replace it. My sources are DirecTv (HR-20), Boxee, and LG BluRay. What I wasn't counting on, but LOVE (and it's saving me a lot of money) is that the Panasonic GT30 has an ARC (Audio Return Channel)via optical Toslink. That lets me connect HDMI from all my sources to the TV and have the audio output to the reciever for surround processing - AWESOME!
With only one day of watching, I think the picture quality is "all that". I previously had a Sony Grand Wega III Rear projection LCD HDTV, and it's hardly comparable because the display technology has progressed so far. Even major broadcasters like CBS/ABC/NBC in HD look suprisingly better.
It also comes with Wifi in the box which you connect via one of the two or three USB ports on the TV. That setup was painless. I don't really intend on using those features (like Netflix), so I can't speak to that. I *WILL* be using DLNA, and since both my Synology NAS and my Samsung phone support DLNA, I will see how well that works in the near future.
Setup was very easy. I'm a tech-guy and my wife could have done this. Date/Time/What source is on each HDMI port and walla.
What don't I like? The HDMI ports are horizontal on the side of the set and your HDMI cables will protrude from the back of the set.
I'll give an update when I have something interesting to report. Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT30 55-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV
This review is only for the 2D picture quality only. I do not have the 3D glasses and I am not sure I will get them, 3d doesn't interest me that much. I primarily bought it because it was plasma and not LCD. I have had CRT projection, DLP projection and LCD. The LCD was a Samsung and a great TV but I did not like the soap opera visual effect it had on some content. The picture was clear but looked artificial. I believe I have read some other reviews on Amazon stating the same observations.
I purchased this TV based on online research and the positive reviews by professional review sites and user feedback. The off angle viewing, no lag or artifacts when viewing fast action content were the two most important aspects to me, researching all the different display types will find, plasma is the king of the hill on both counts. I would not hesitate to recommend this TV to anyone. If you do the research you will find it is the top of the game and amazon had a really good price coupled with the 2 year interest free amazon sore card purchase it was a no brainer. The form factor although not as slim as the slimmest LCD's is still under 2 inches and looks great hanging on the wall.
As many others, I've done my research before buying this TV. I've only had the GT30 for 4 days and am currently very happy with it.
- The 2D picture is beautiful. I have another 2 year old Samsung 1080P LCD and I can see a clear picture improvement with this Panasonic GT30. I was a little worried about the fluctuating brightness problems that people have been seeing. I am happy to report that I do not see ANY fluctuating brightness issues in any of the modes (thx, game, custom, etc...)
Out of the box the THX mode seemed to be the best, but I found some tunings that CNET posted for this TV and used those. CNET actually posted picture tunings for THX and Custom modes and mentioned that they believe their THX settings were better. My wife and I prefer like their Custom settings more than their THX settings. More realistic...
- I can also make a couple of comments on 3D. I've ordered a 3D blue ray player with a few movies, but have not received them yet. I do have ESPN 3D though and was able to check it out. I purchased the x103 3d glasses and used those. The 3d effect greatly depends on the content that you are watching on TV when its broadcast. College football was OK, Extreme winter games were good and Boxing looked great with 3D. I did not see any cross talk and the HD clarity was very good. Just make sure that you don't have a lot of extra outside light in the room or the glasses will appear to flicker a little. In a medium to dim environment, there were 0 issues. I can't wait for the 3D blue ray player to see what movies will look like on this TV.
Overall I am very happy with this TV.
I could not be more impressed with this TV. The picture is incredible, the set-up was very easy, it has tons of features, it is by far the best TV I have ever owned.
I mounted it to the wall using a VideoSecu Articulating TV mount which holds it securely to the wall. I did not feel comfortable having this TV rest on the stand it comes with because I have 4 boys, and the living room sometimes transforms into a wrestling arena. I would hate to have to put one or more of the boys up for adoption because they knocked over the TV. So mounting it to a wall helps ensure they will have a place to live for a few more years...
The TV comes with a wireless LAN adapter that plugs into one of the TV's USB ports. That saves the hassle of running a network cable to that room. So far I am very happy with the connectivity and have used it to watch instant movies from Netflix, shows from Amazon on-demand, and we also use it to check our weather reports. The TV has many other features that are Internet based like Facebook, but we have not tried that because we do not have a wireless keyboard, and because we have a PC in the same room, so we will probably never use that feature.
The only downside I have noticed so far is the sound quality. We have the TV in a pretty large, open room. When things are quiet the sound quality is great, but things get noisy around here sometimes and I am also a little hard of hearing (or so my wife says) so I need to crank up the volume on the loud side. I may have to hook this up to a home theater system, which is probably a good idea anyway. In a normal house the sound quality will probably be more than adequate.
Once again I will get back to the picture quality. It is very impressive, especially in HD. I have satellite TV and had to upgrade the receiver to an HD receiver. Watching the shows in HD is incredible. I cannot speak highly enough about the excellent picture quality. I am very happy with this purchase.
I did quite a bit of research on TVs before buying this one. This TV was very highly rated and I am happy and convinced that I made the right choice.
**While this is a 3D TV, I have not purchased 3D glasses so I cannot review that feature. Since 3D gives me a headache, I will probably never get a set of 3D glasses. Actually I should clarify the previous sentence, 3D on TV gives me a headache. Luckily I am ok with 3D in real life, or that would be a huge problem. - So Happy - Fantastic 55 Inch T V - My Life With A Medical Breakthro'

Dashboard Mount - garmin, garmin nuvi
My Prius has a rough dashboard and a windshield that slopes very sharply. Thus, the suction cup mounts are not good solutions. Fortunately, the friction mount is a great solution. It works much better than I expected. Very stable, does not slide, and lets me adjust my Nuvi to a variety of different angles. I can place the GPS anywhere on the dash or even on the center console. Also works great when transferred to my wife's Ford.
Only downside to the device is that it has a rather large footprint, but not prohibitively large. I like the fact that I can easily use this in both of our family vehicles depending on where we need the GPS.
UPDATE: Now that I have used this mount regularly since May, I have to say this is the best mounting solution I've found for a GPS or any other device for my car. It hasn't slid out of place once!! Given the rise in GPS units being stolen from cars, this mount allows you to easily stash your GPS Unit and mount out of sight and then put it back into position with ease.
2009 Update: Still using this in my Prius and my wife has one too. It's held up quite well. It IS a bit bulky to store out of the way when not in use, but still a good solution. I usually remove my GPS from the mount (a simple process) and then place the mount as far under the seat as it will go. Not perfect, but the best solution I've found to date. Garmin Portable Friction Mount
This mount works great. The selection of Garmin mounts is confusing as some are two parts and some are one. If you have a Nuvi with the included windshield mount, then this is the only part you need to buy. The included mount disassembles at the ball and socket joint and attaches to this one. I can't say it will never come off the dash if I do some really high speed maneuver, but so far it's held steady for all regular driving.
I like that it's easy to move the mount and gps unit down to the floor when I park. Yeah a thief could still see it if they came right up to my car but at least it's not obvious from halfway across the parking lot like a windshield mount is. A thief that sees an empty windshield mount is probably going to assume (correctly) that I've just put the unit in the glove compartment.
I have become addicted to my Garmin Nuvi 660 and used it for six months with a successful windshield mount. But now I have bought a new car. I discovered that the windshield suction mount left an ugly black ring on the window of my old car. (I assume I can get this cleaned up when I detail the car for selling.)
So no way was I going to put one of those on my beautiful new car. I tried the Garmin dashboard mount but shied away from the "permanent" disc. I found the "temporary" disc was just not up to the job of holding this device in place -- at least on my vehicle. I found this very frustrating. I read about the Portable Friction Mount, found a Best Buy store that had it in stock and ran out to buy it.
Though it is not terribly good looking, it does the job very well. I tried whipping around a few tight turns in parking lots and the whole thing stayed put. As another reviewer said, this lets you easily remove the thing and put it on the floor so it's not obvious. That may be more valuable than you would think. I know somebody who removed his Garmin Nuvi (and took it with him) but left the window mount in place. The car was broken into and the window mount alone was stolen. (Probably that was a pretty frustrated thief.)
Also, this will be easy to transfer to a rental car. And it will make it easy for my wife to borrow my Nuvi. Hmmm!
While the friction mount on the bottom of the beanbag is pretty darn stable even with stops, starts, and turns I sometimes would find it sliding across the dash. The solution has been to use one of those little 6x4 inch mats sold at Radio Shack or Walmart for keeping cellphones on the dash. The mat is sticky on one side but leaves no marks or glue. I have not had one slide since using the mat. I even bring the mat with me in rental cars. This gives a very secure mount that is very easy to take from car to car.
The first time I tried this mount was in a rental car for a Garmin C530, and I never thought it would stay on the slightly sloping dash of the Pontiac Grand Prix but it held firm going up and down San Francisco's hilly roads. That prompted me to buy one for my car. Essentially this mount is a bean bag with a mouse pad like rubber base but its engineered to stay where you put it and not slide around unless you move it. The good thing is that it stays put even if you brake suddenly, and if you drive in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic like me every day you'll appreciate this even more!
The advantages are:
- No sticking on windshield. This is a BIG advantage as the windshield mount starts to come off easily after a year of usage, less if you leave it in your car while it's parked in the sun. There is nothing worse than your GPS sliding off while you're driving round a tricky bend, especially if you are new to the area. Sometimes it can be downright dangerous.
- The windshield mount also alerts thieves that a GPS is in the car. A friction mount can be placed down under the car seat when you leave the car without needing to disconnect anything so that you're ready to go quickly when you come back to the car.
- The other big advantage is the ability to move it around to the position you want it. If a passenger is sitting in your car you can just slide it to their side and they can input the information while you are driving. It also makes it easy to slide it closer to yourself. Since I have the Nuvi 660 I often make calls with the bluetooth feature while driving, it is easy to slide it towards me when I am speaking to someone in order to get better voice reception.
This mount works for all Nuvis as they have the "snap the ball in the joint". If you buy any model of Nuvi then this is all you need, no other adapter parts are needed. It's also easy to switch this mount between cars or move it to a rental car when you travel. It has been the best and most useful accessory I could buy for my Nuvi 660. - Friction Mount - Gps Mount - Garmin Nuvi - Garmin'

planer - planer
Good: helical cutting head at this price point! 13" width capacity, 6" height capacity down to 1/8" inch, quick setup for repeat thickness runs, surprisingly quiet during full load, excellent chip extraction, essentially ready to use out of the box with little if any adjustment needed to parallel the support tables (they fold upwards when not in use resulting in very small foot print when unit is stored away), support tables are long, leaves a good finish, 5 year warranty.
Bad: single feed speed is too fast for some hard woods resulting in some minor tear-out; rotating the board for another pass helps but a slower feed speed would get rid of this problem entirely.
Overall: 13" helical cutter in a solidly built machine at an excellent price; looking forward to many years of service. Steel City Tool Works 40200H 13-Inch Planer with Spiral Cutterhead
I have had this planer for a few months and put a lot of hickory, hard maple, soft maple, and red oak through it. This is and upgrade for an older Dewalt 2 blade cutter head. I upgraded because I was tired of having to get blades sharpened frequently and tired of dealing with tearout from the coarser grain woods.
The planer came shipped in the in is own box with no problems. Once out of the box you will need to clean off some grease from table of the planer, but nothing to major. After the you attach the 4" dust collector port you are ready to go.
I did have to adjust the level of the infeed and outfeed table to eliminate snipe, but still have some on the first and last couple inches of the board. I know some people find snipe to be a big deal, I plan for it and just cut off the ends.
The first thing you notice when you first start using it is how quiet it is. This does not matter to me so much because I have a loud dust collector and I always use hearing protection. But it is significantly quieter then straight blade planers. The part that I am disappointed with is you still get a fair amount scallops and tearout from the coarser grain woods. I was under the impression that the spiral head was supposed to significantly decrease tearout or eliminate it. But I have not noticed a difference for from my older dewalt planer. I have tried taking lighter passes of 1/32 of and inch and changing the directional feed of the board but with no success. Maybe I had too high of expectations for this planer. It does have plenty of power to push through and species of wood at its 13" capacity. Dust collection catches about 95% of the chips, so nothing to complain about. We will just have to see how long the knives stay sharp for and how it is to change them. Will keep you posted.
I give it the three stars because I expected better result regarding tearout.
First, I don't know about the durability/longevity of this product, but I will say that I think in the long run this will be a machine that lasts for me. As many have pointed out, this is basically a Ridgid 13" planer with a spiral cutting head. However, the sides are all steel and overall the materials seem to be of a higher specification/quality than the Ridgid models. I carefully researched this machine and read lots of reviews before I finally bit the bullet and bought this unit. I'd considered the Delta and Dewalt portable models in the same price range ($600). The recent price drop on this Steel City unit really helped me make the final decision as well as the spiral cutting head. Many have commented about the "grease" around the cutter head and on one woodworking forum someone carped on endlessly about using Q-tips to clean the cutter head. I thought that seemed a little strange, so I was prepared to look for myself once the unit arrived. I removed the protective shroud around the cutter head and yes, there is a significant amount of grease on the head. In my opinion this is Cosmoline or some other rust inhibitor. Douse the head with some brake cleaner or do what I did: grab some soft lumber (like pine) and run it through until you collect a Shop Vac or two full of shavings. This coating really isn't as bad as some of the reviews. If you consider all of the bare steel and surface area that is exposed on this spiral cutter head, the rust inhibitor is necessary. The environment inside a shipping container from China to the U.S. is a corrosive one for machinery. I'm glad that Steel City's overseas supplier is taking this precaution. Put the Q-tips down and use some common sense, man.
Regarding the performance of this machine: I could not be happier! Adjusting the in-feed/out-feed tables did take some time and the bolts for this are inset too close to the base of the unit in my opinion. You'll need some good dexterity to get them just right. There is only one feed speed. I don't think 2 feed speeds would be useful for me, but maybe others work a whole lot faster on a planer than I do or have help on the out feed. I planed about 20 bf of 8-inch wide black walnut the other night from about 4/4 down to 1/2" thickness taking nice 1/32" swipes. This sucker could easily swipe up 1/16" on a pass, but I was so pleased with the surface at 1/32" that I just beamed from ear-to-ear and kept putting the stock back through to get to my final thickness. Did someone say I need a re-saw setup on a dedicated band saw? Ah yes---that would be nice. Had fun planing, but it is sad to see half of a board wasted.
Many of us really want a 15-20" floor-model planer with its own dedicated space in the "shop" and a 220V power supply. A lot of woodworking snobs will tell you not to even bother with these suitcase (portable) models. Let's get real. Most of us do woodworking in our garage and space IS an issue. How will this hold up under professional use? I have no idea, but then again I'm not going to abuse my tools like "employees" will. I built houses for a number of years and I can tell you even the best tool will fail when it is abused---apropos with ANY tool review you read and always worth considering. Overall I'm confident in giving this machine a 5/5 rating. - Planer'

Roofing Nailer - roofing nailer
I ordered the product online with some scepticism as usual. However, I was pleased that the product was received in a timely manner. It was new as promised and came with clear and consice instructions. I feel comfortable recommending this site and will likely be a returning customer. Bostitch TVA6 Trigger Valve Kit
The trigger kit arrived very timely, and was pretty easy to install. All it takes is someone with only minor skills to put in. The only problem I had was it didn't fix my coil roofing nailer. It started leaking air, badly, and I was told the trigger kit fixes 75 percent of the problems. Well, I have the other 25 percent. Overall the product is fine, just not what I needed. - Roofing Nailer'

Mother And Child Jewelry - mother and child jewelry, mothers day gifts
I got this as a gift for my mother who does not whare much jewellery.
She really loved this pendant and said it is very speciale because it is from a daughter to her mother.
The pendant is very good quality. It's thick, heavy and the size is good as well.
very good value for the price. Sterling Silver "The Love Between A Mother And Daughter Is Complicated, Noisy, Tender, Strong, Affectionate, Funny and Forever" Reversible Pendant, 18"
We have 2 lovely daughters. I loved the writing on the pendant the words are so true. It is harder for older people to read but if it wasnt that small you would need a much larger pendant. Looks great and gets many comments from friends. I wear it a lot
This was a gift for my daughter-in-law on the birth of our first grandchild. She loves it. The sentiment on the necklace is so true. I did buy a sturdier chain for it though because she is a work out fanatic, and I didn't want it to get lost if the chain broke. An excellent gift for any new mother or to give to your own mother.
I bought this on a whim, thinking to use it as a ribbon on my daughters Mother's day present. It was heavier and much nicer than I expected, and she was touched by the words. I'm satisfied especially with the price.
I loved the neckless, just hated the chain it was broken when I got it.
I had a thick back up chain that the pendent look great.I love it very very much,
when buy this pendent get a back up chain my daughter baught it for me and it came one day before my birthday. The only sugestion is to buy a better back up chain
Though smaller than expected, the words are clearly legible and the piece itself well crafted. Can't wait to gift it to my mom who loves inspirationally worded jewelry, so i just know she will love this! Highly recommend. - Pendants - Mother And Child Jewelry - Mothers Day Gifts'

if you do not see your camara model here then dont buy it Kodak USB Cable Model U-8
I needed a replacement USB cable for my Kodak Easyshare camera and needed it quick in order to complete a slideshow for my students. Amazon offered the cheapest and fastest replacement. I had the cable the next day! Excellent product desription, service and delivery is what you get through Amazon.
I have tried to purchase this Kodak camera cord. Kodak gave me the exact part and ID number. First I went to [...] and they sold the contract to We Sell Bargains and they sent out the wrong product; the part did NOT fit into my camera. So after 20 emails to both [...] (who basically blew me off after getting the RMA and mailing instructions for me) and We Sell Bargains; After 8 more emails, We Sell Bargains continued to say that they never received my package and unless I insured the package, they wont do anything. So I finally went back to my credit card company to dispute the charge, showing them all of the correspondence because time was running out.
I then ordered from Amazon, thinking I would actually be getting the product from Amazon; Amazon sold the contract to Cables4U and low and behold, Cables4U sold the contract to... We Sell Bargains and AGAIN they sent out the wrong cord. I tried to contact Cables4U and they said the same thing as last time, send it back. Blah Blah Blah; and rather then spend another $20 for a $6 cord, I bought a new camera, because this whole trasaction, with postage and two credit card charges, and not to mention time and close to 25 emails... it has cost me $40 for a $6 cord.
If these companies choose to sell the contract (no I didnt sign up for We Sell Bargain, I signed up to Amazon, then I guess the only way for them to figure out that the Customer Service for We Sell Bargains isnt very good, and a bit dishonest (they didnt lose a penny on the return and got the cord back new! and probably resold my cord back becuase it wasnt "insured") So maybe Cables4U and Amazon will learn and drop using We Sell Bargains as a vendor.
I bought this product because, while on vacation I forgot to pack the Kodak cord to recharge my M853 camera. I wasn't sure it would work, since I wasn't buying directly from Kodak, but I found for a cheap price and thought it was worth the risk. It wasn't. I complained to the seller, who claimed the product description did not state which cameras it would work with. But I am certain I read that it would--maybe from another reviewer. So my advice is BE CAREFUL. Verify compatibility with the seller before you buy this, or bite the bullet and pay the extra cash to buy directly from Kodak. I will say that the next camera I purchase will not be a Kodak, because of this issue. They make it too hard to use their products.
This cable worked perfectly with our Kodak camera. We lost our original cable, and were hesitant to buy a new one via the internet. But the company handled our order promptly and we were pleased that it was indeed the correct cable.
I was amazed as to the results of the delivery of my cable that I received from the company. I ordered it one day and two days later it was delivered @ my home. I expected @ least a 7 day delivery. Most of all it came with a return envelope and label if needed, which most companies don't offer and it was a "Very Low Cost Item" considering all the surfing I did before purchasing from this company.
I will order more items when needed from them!

I can only speak on behalf of myself, who is a completely clueless when it comes to decorating a home! I have always lived with others in apartments or school dorms, so I never had a say on home decor. Now, in the process of buying my first home, I am completely lost as to how to decorate it and what to buy! I love entertaining and I love having visitors over. I love color and I love beautiful furniture... if it wasnt for this book, I'm sure I would have gotten tons of different focal points and tons of splashes of color (I was color deprived when I was young!). This book helps you organize your thoughts mentally, and helps when you are starting off with a clean canvas. I say it's helpful for the clueless because it is of tremendous help to me (very clueless!). I'm not sure how helpful it will be if you already have ideas about home decorating! It's also pretty modern (I'm 24) if that is the direction you are looking towards.
The last section is also really cool! It has a floor grid and cut-out furniture pieces and a checklist that I can't wait to play around with! The Nest Home Design Handbook: Simple ways to decorate, organize, and personalize your place
I purchased this book because I wanted some unique ideas in an easy to read format and sure enough, this is what I was given!!! I love it!!! It is FULL of pictures which makes it easy for my husband to flip through and say like it/hate it....and that brings a huge grin to my face ;-) Oh, we relocate every three to four years (nope, not a military family) and we ALWAYS have new places and spaces. This gives great advice on using what you have and really adding speacial pieces.
This book is perfect for the beginning home owner or renter who doesn't know where to begin in making decisions about how to decorate their home. The book has material you can't find elsewhere on layout, types of sofas, chairs, beds, rooms etc. The rooms are contemporary, up-to-date and fresh.
The book has useful charts and questionnaires which will help the reader in decision-making and it's very clear and easy to read. It's a wonderful springboard to begin to articulate your personal style. I teach a class on interior design through continuing education and find the book very useful for students as an introduction to a complex subject like interior design.
We're purchasing our first home and I felt overwhelmed at the prospect of designing every room from scratch but this wonderful book inspired me to embrace the entire project, including painting walls. It's elementary, the Nest Home appears to be geared toward newly marrieds, but for those like me who need a refresher on the basics, this works!
I really enjoyed looking through this book. I haven't read the whole thing though but what I have read is great! It gives great tips, pictures, a nice reference in back of the book, and some color schemes. This is a great book for just getting started with decorating, or if you would like some fresh ideas.
This book has helped me so much. I made use of the lists they provide for you in the back and when I went shopping for a room in my house, I had my list ready to go and picked everything out. It was so helpful. I love all the ideas and WOW, it is SO easy to read and easy to follow. This book has great tips along the sides of the pages and explains everything so easily, and it's easy on your eyes. The font and the way they designed the book layout is great, like I said, easy to read and understand. Very modern ideas that I love. Plus it's a pretty book to put on display. I can't say enought about this, I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy read for fresh and modern approaches to interior design.
I am totally into home design and watch as many shows as possible on HGTV. I also love [..]. This book proves to be the perfect combination of the two. The pages are well designed and easy to follow. The tips are great and I think anyone who is into home design will like this book.
I bought this book a few days ago, and I have hardly been able to put it down since. I'm fairly new to decorating; I'm a beginning grad student renting a small single-family home. This book is by no means a complete reference guide to home decorating, but it has plenty of inspiring design ideas (LOTS of full-page photos) and basic information (e.g., types of carpet/furniture/lighting, how to arrange furniture and decorations, etc). These ideas can be incorporated into just about any design plan and any budget. However, it really is more of an idea/inspiration book and NOT a step-by-step guide to anything.
The book is organized into four main functional areas of the home ("live" = living room, "eat" = kitchen, "sleep" = bedroom, "stash" = closet/office organization), and it has a short planning and reference section at the end. This book is ideal for young decorators, and I believe it's actually intended for young newlyweds in particular (hence "The Nest" affiliation). Most of the designs feature contemporary style (think ikea), so keep that in mind.
Overall, a great book to get you started. I recommend it to all the twenty- and thirty-somethings out there looking to establish a sense of contemporary style in their homes.
As someone who knows very little about decorating and style, I found this book to be very inspirational and helpful. I consider it a must have. It covers furniture and art arranging, how to set a table, items to keep in a bar, explores color and creative storage ideas, just to name a few.
I love this book. - Furniture Arrangement - Decorating - Art - Furniture Arrangements'
