Lithium-ion - impact drivers, compact
This is a great tool, small, lightweight with a lot of power. I own a Makita 18 volt LXT and that is a great drill, but for installing blinds and other items this is awesome, only weighs 2 lbs. and comes with a holster. I work in remodeling daily and this is my new best friend to work with, a great investment Makita TD090DW 10.8-Volt Ultra Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver Kit
I am really impressed with this cordless driver. For as small as it is, it really has a lot of torque. I bought another brand that practically had no torque at all. I sent it back and bought this one. You get what you pay for. The work light really lights up the area where you are using the driver. If I had a complaint at all of this tool, it would be it is hard to drive a screw at a real slow speed, for instance, when you are just starting the screw. The trigger is real sensitive. You have to use small movements of the trigger. As I use the tool more, I am getting better at selecting the proper speed for driving screws, etc. I like the compact size of the driver also.
I own the 18 volt tools from makita and love them then this little powerful guy came around and had to have one powerful for the size and nice to hold all day in a service truck and crain thanks makita
This is a great product with lots of power in a compact size, fast recharging batteries that have a long use time. I am a technician for Audi and I use this thing all day every day and have had it for about a year now, saddly I have dropped it on more than on occasion but the durabulity of this tool is amazing and still functions flawlessly. It is small enough to fit in tight spots and powerful enough to tackle any job I throw at it. I highly recommend this, if you are in the market for a 1/4 inch hex bit impact driver that you will not be disappointed with.
This "little" driver was the best tool purchase I have made in years. Not only is it everything the description says it is you will be blown away how long and hard it will work on a charge. I was able to drive over 300 3" 305 stainless screws with one battery.
I dont start a project without it in my hand. Well worth the money.
This got good reviews n my internet search and so far it's lived up to them. I'm new to home improvement, but love it so far. Directions easy to understand, comfortable grip and lightweight. I'd recommend to anyone
I have not used this on a big job yet, but it works fine for messing around in the shop. I got it for smaller size and weight than my 18V Makita Impact Driver. I loved 18V for its power and size but not so much for its weight. I was hoping to save on weight and maybe on size (the 10.8V is somewhat skinnier).
The 10.8V seems to have enough power for 3" screws (my usual max, 2" are much more common) but I don't think it will last as long on a charge. This should not be an issue because I will always have my 18V around for backup and I have multiple batts for it. For working around a shop bench, either unit should be fine. For working around the top of a ladder or in the rafters, the 10.8V will probably be my choice. For working in the field, away from chargers for a day, I will go with the 18V and a backup batt. Or the 10.8V and maybe 2 or 3 backup batts. Don't know yet.
By the way, I really like the $20 hex shank twist drill kit that Ryobi (at Home Depot) makes. They are not great bits but they are really convenient if you don't want to carry an extra drill around. And also, BTW, Sears sells high quality hex shank twist replacement bits and in larger sizes, up to 1/2".
Aloha, Shell
Just wanted to add that this thing is also a drill, although i have not tried it on metal yet ,,the makita td090dw putts and end to my black and decker ,, ,secondly i would not consider this a screw driver it is way to strong ,it can easy strip out plastic and other soft materials, even though it comes with a Phillips headed double sided bit, It works best with a set of 3/8 sockets, works great on your car with those bolts that connected to aluminum, large bolts connected to steel not so good , 10 11 12 13 mm great,, 14mm and up the makita will warm your ears up from the impact mechanism and possibly chime it off ,, Tightening strength I am estimating about 10 to 14 ft lbs or 200 to 300 inch lbs after the fist second the impact mechanism comes on,, after that the impact will take it down even further depending on what size the bolt is , so the makita td090dw does not have 850 inch lbs or 70 foot lbs of torque it creates torque through the impact maybe you could reach this by holding it there for a few seconds and letting the impact do the work "tried it seems to stop moving"if you want more raw torque get the 18v,, after a several recharges she will get even stronger ,in short it replaces that 14 and 18 volt black and decker with ease but your going to need to get the screw driver
Very powerful for it's size. The batteries don't last quite as long as I thought they would but I've been putting a lot of load on them. All toghther this is much lighter and more powerful than any cordless drill I've ever owned. - Makita - Compact - Makita Impact Driver - Impact Drivers'

Porta-nails - hardwood floor nailer, hardwood
Have no fear in purchasing this nailer. This nailer is very well made and buying one vs renting one made more sense to me.(At $40-$50 per day to rent). I am installing Brazilian Walnut 3/4" by 2 1/4" solid hardwood flooring. This wood is 185% harder than oak. This nailer had no problem driving the nails. I purchased the "L" shaped cleat nails at my local Lowes. This is my first attempt at installing a wood floor. One tip for DIY'ers, practice on a scrap piece of flooring, I had to adjust the air pressure on my compressor to 90 psi. Also when hitting the nailer with the rubber mallet you need a nice firm swing, not to hard, not to soft, a few practice hits and you will get it. Now about the seller, great service, nailer arrived in 1 week, nailer is exactly as described, was delivered by Fedex in perfect condition. What sold me on buying from this seller was their great price and the fact that they did not charge an inflated shipping rate. To all readers of this review, Good Luck in you flooring project. Akuzuki Contractor Pro Series Dual Hardwood Floor Cleat Nailer and Stapler
I purchased this nailer for use when installing 640 square feet of strand bamboo flooring, in conjunction with Bostich 'L' cleat flooring nails Bostitch FLN-150 1-1/2-Inch Flooring L-Nails, 1000-Per Box. As expected to use the tool over the course of days, with an eye toward utility for future projects, I chose to buy a nailer rather than rent.
Pros:
1. heavy-duty feel
2. budget price
3. changeable baseplates for different thickness flooring
Cons:
1. two of the four allen screws that hold on the base plate simply refused to budge and stripped in the process of trying to remove them to change the plate- completely rendering useless the feature of changeable baseplates for various flooring thickness. (no worries- I added strips of duct tape to suit my 5/8" bamboo strips) This is a manufacturing quality issue. Either the screws should have been properly torqued, or should not have been installed at all, leaving that to the purchaser.
2. Halfway through the flooring project, the unit began to leak air through the head. Not a lot, just a whisper- but enough to cycle my compressor and make me wonder about the tool's longevity.
Despite the cons, it drove the cleats flawlessly and never misfired. I would purchase this again, given the price and balancing the use I would get from it Vs. renting costs.
UPDATE -01/2010
After having written my review I received a very nice, and unsolicited, note from the manufacturer. They were kind enough, based upon my review, to fully repair the small issues I was having with my tool. When was the last time a manufacturer rung you up and offered to fix what was wrong with your tool without having to spend hours on hold or navigating a phone tree? THAT is customer service, folks. Got the tool back in double time: baseplate screws fixed, and rebuilt with new seals. I tried it immediately and it performed flawlessly, as it was before. (remember, it performed perfectly before, with no misfires, even when the nails ran out of the magazine) It is rare indeed to find a company willing to stand behind their product these days, let alone to this extent. I am impressed. Curious to know whether new buyers experience too-tight screws on the baseplate or whether they have actually changed the manufacturing process. Pros: Seriously consider this tool.
A decent floor nailer and a great value, especially with the ability to use either cleats or staples. The construction of the nailer was solid and well made. I was however disappointed in the mallet, the wooden handle was very loose and not well finished and doubt it would hold up well in the long run, fortunately, I recently purchased a Stanley graphite handled mallet and have used that.
The nailer arrived in just under a week and I was ready to start putting down my bamboo floor. The base plate needed to be changed (bamboo is 5/8" vice 3/4" for most hardwoods), but was quickly accomplished by removing the 4 allen screws with the wrench supplied. After adding a few drops of oil, I made a few test nailings and was pleased that no further adjustments were necessary. The nails were set perfectly in the tongues of the bamboo. The starting wall clearance was excellent, with the 3 5/8" wide bamboo, I was able to use the nailer on the second row! Do be careful when installing bamboo as the nailer needs to be set flat and square to prevent damage to the edges.
I did run into one nail jam as most floor nailers are infamous for. It occured between two strips of cleats. It took about five minutes to clear the jam (breaking out the directions just to be sure). Future jams could easily be accomplished in under two.
I've only installed about 150 square feet, but so far I've been very happy with the performance of the nailer.
Awesome...I have been renting guns for years and decided to buy this one before installing about 500 SF in my house. I am a homeowner - not a pro - but I have installed thousands of feet of wood. I wish I bought this gun a few years ago. Not a single miss-fire, as a result of the gun, in 500 SF. I have never had a more consistent floor nailer. The gun is easy to use and really does not require a hard hit to work. If you are planning to install any decent quantity of wood, I would highly recommend this unit over renting. Good Luck!
During a major remodeling job of our home, we hired a carpenter crew, that was well respected in our area. They put down the hardwood flooring in our kitchen and dining room area with a regular air nailer. We noticed after a couple of weeks that the floor made squeaky noices when we walked on it.
Having to still complete another area with the same hardwood flooring, we decided to try and do it ourselves. So to Amazon.com we went and purchased the Akuzuki nailer. Upon arrival we began the project. We found the recommendations on Amazon from other buyers to be true and the instructions in the box were easy to follow. Within a couple of days our flooring was down and it doesn't squeak. It looks really professional.
Thank you for offering a great product.

Electric Chain Saw - electric chainsaw
This is the second electric McCilloch 16" chain saw that I have owned and it is even better and more powerful than the first. I still use a gas chain saw out in the woods on my property but I usually do just enough cutting with it to get the logs on a trailer so I can take them bach to my shed to cut them up and save the sawdust for on my garden and flower beds as mulch. This electric is lighter and more powerful than my gas saw and makes short work of even 14" well-seasoned oak and poppel logs with a minimum of effort. I highly recommend this sae for anyone who has an electric outlet close enough to their cutting station. It is a real pleasure to work with such an excellent piece of equipment McCulloch 16-Inch 3.5 HP Electric Chain Saw #MCC3516F McCulloch MCC3516F 16-Inch 3.5 HP Electric Chain Saw
Bought this McCulloch electric chainsaw to replace an old Craftsman electric chain saw. (the Craftsman got ran over by a car)
Compared to my old Craftsman electric chain saw, the McCulloch seems to be wonderful. The first test was to cut a 16" diameter oak branch, cut thru it like hot butter. The "no tools needed" chain tensioner seems to be a good design (design seems to be similar to that used by other manufacturers).
Assuming this thing keeps cutting/running the same way in the long term, then we have a winner.
(note: all the electric chain saws come with cheap looking chains with cutting blades spaced very widely apart along the chain. To be ready for the bigger cutting jobs I sprung for a new $18 Oregon s-54 16" chain.)
Update - Just cutout a 4' diameter 450# stump w/ this E-saw. It keeps doing a super job. In terms of a replacement chain, make sure to get the Oregon S-54 (S is style of cutter, 54 means 54 links). The MC literature suggests use of a S-55, but it is TOO Long and will soon wind up in the trash can. ALSO, the MC factory installed gasket for the lube oil, between the saw and chain bar is total trash. When changing out the chain, pull the bar off, pull out and throw away the MC factory gasket, clean the bar and apply a piece of electrical tape, using a knife to cut out a pathway for oil to the bar. Will lube perfectly now!
The McCulloch3516F chainsaw puts an end to my problem of gas engines that don't start when I really need them to. I have been cutting out maple branches this summer from trees with verticillium wilt - branches up to 8 inches are no problem at all.
This saw has an impressive safety feature: a chain brake that stops the saw instantly as soon as the trigger is released or the safety guard is pushed forward. I mean instantly: there is a loud clunk as the brake engages and the chain stops dead. This takes some getting used to, as the brake engages if you wiggle your finger while running the chainsaw, causing the chain to start and stop. There is no concept of "revving" the chain. It also means there is no "idle" speed for the chain. It is on or off. And that is safe.
You can also consider it a safety feature that the chain has fewer cutting teeth than my gas powered saw chains. I don't know the relative operating RPMs - if they are about the same, this saw seems to cut a little slower, and fewer teeth would do that. This makes the saw less aggressive and less likely to pull out of your control. I like that. As I say, the cutting ability is well in excess of the 8" branches I've been dealing with.
The oil fill is conveniently located so that you don't have to tip the saw to fill it, although a small funnel is helpful.
Overall, I am very happy with this chainsaw.
I bought this saw last summer when my old gas saw was on its last legs. I have cross cut and then sliced in half lengthwise about a cord of hardwood, up to about 12" in diameter for use in woodturning. As other reviewers have said, the saw has ample power and good safety features. It's got as much or more power as any of the 'homeowner' level gas saws I've used over the years and is much lighter. I was very pleased to find the chain sprocket is metal, unlike some other electric saws. I also have not had any problems with the saw heating up during use.
The only problems I have found are small--1. it's pretty hard to see how much bar oil is in the tank even though you're supposed to be able to easily see the level. 2. when cutting in rip fashion (which only woodturners are going to want to do) the cuttings clog up around the base of the bar fairly easily. I highly recommended this saw.
Pros - inexpensive compared to gas chainsaws, lightweight, cuts with good power, will do most anything that a gas chainsaw will do. like the automatic chain oiler and easy tension adjustment.
Cons - If you are cutting larger branches and trees, a gas is better. However this will work on 8-10" size very well.
After much research on Amazon I chose this little chain saw for odd jobs around my property. It's great for small downed trees and limbs! Electrics have good power (torque) and I wanted something that would not need much maintenance. Being tethered to a plug (I don't have a portable generator yet) is something I expected and I bought some extra extension cord to increase my range from the plugs. Save some money and skip buying the brand-name chain oil. You can get regular chain oil for less at any big box supply store. Use that savings to get safety glasses and good gloves if you don't already have them.
Nice chainsaw, works great, well built. The instant-stop chain is very safe, but a bit abrupt when releasing the trigger. I wish there were a half-way release that turned off the motor but did not engage the instant stop break.
I have used a Remington chainsaw for many years.I use an electric chainsaw for small branches and kindling wood. They work just fine, and, are less expensive to use than my two gas powered saws.I have a fireplace with insert to heat the log home during cold days. Nothing like wood heat. I got ten years of use from the previous chainsaw. - Electric Chainsaw'

I've tried the crummy, flimsy sheet protectors and I decided a long time ago that this is the best way to present our reports in 3 ring binders. The cheap substitute light-weight and off-brand protectors
just don't measure up. Heavyweight protectors last forever and in my opinion, there is no alternative. Buy with confidence. Avery Top Loading Non-Glare Poly Sheet Protectors 200 Count (74401)
I've purchased other types of sleeves in the past but Avery has proved to be the best. These are a very good weight and perfect for protecting my photos. So glad I bought them! Don't waste money on cheaper because it will cost you more in the long run.
The quality of this product is higher than I expected. The seller was very quick to ship the product to me, and I am very pleased. These sheets are heavier than I thought they would be, therefore they hold my music secure, and won't tear nearly as easily as the old ones I was using.
My Mom uses these to protect her family stories. She's the writer in our family. Staples used to carry them but have since discontinued them. At least at our store. She won't use any other kind so I found them on Amazon for her at a lower price and had them shipped.
I've been using these sheet protectors for a few months, and I am very pleased. The comment about them not being completely clear is true, I was also concerned about this when I first opened the box and saw the product, but I got used to it quickly and now I even like the tone! I don't know how photos look in them, I just put all kinds of documents containing text in these (Sometimes I put up to 20-25 sheets of paper, not too comfortable but they fit, and I haven't had any rips yet) and they're very readable, and smooth to the touch, I'm always looking for reasons to use these more! Not that I need a lot of incentive, I'm always too lazy to hole punch my papers so these make a great solution and preserve the papers much better than simply stacking them inside the binder. They fit perfectly in all of my binders so I can't imagine what kind of binder would be not wide enough for these. Highly recommended if you need anything like this.
Love these sheet protectors! We have used them for many years and they are simply better than the rest! They have changed over the years (not quite as good as they used to be), but are still far better than the competition, which we tried recently. They are worth the extra cost. More economical in the 200 count box. Never seem to have too many; my spouse likes them for protecting shop manuals printed from online, I use them for recipes and cookbooks I printed online. Will buy again!
These sheet protectors have worked very well. They're sturdy and should last longer than their need. The main reason for my review is to help someone avoid the mistake I made with these. I paid attention to the fact that they work for 8 1/2 x 11 sheets but I neglected to factor in the size of the three ring strip on the side. These require an extra wide binder to prevent the sheets poking out of the side. With the right binder you should be very happy with this product. - Office Supplies - Page Protector - Avery'

*Updated 7/9/11*
I've had this TV for about 4+ months now. The strongest feature is the picture quality which I would hope is also your number one priority. I find the blacks to be deep and the colors saturated and bright. This is an edge-lit LCD and does not have any sort of local dimming. But I can honestly say you won't miss it. There are plenty of options for a video-phile to get right down and tweak the heck out of the display, but most people will be blown away with just the Standard picture setting. One gripe is that I'm not convinced you can truly disable Dynamic Contrast. Even with it, "Disabled" I will catch it doing an unnecessary dimming in low-light scenes. I'm still on the fence with Tru Motion. I mostly leave it off. It's just a little too jarring for my brain right now. I was raised on 30/24 FPS. You'll see what I mean (And learn what the, "Soap Opera Effect" is). Smart TV is a nice diversion. You can browse the web, Facebook, etc. But take note that at this time they do not offer Pandora as an app which is a tremendous letdown. There is also no support for an external keyboard - so have fun navigating the web with the Magic Motion remote! (/endsarcasm) I find myself using Media Link frequently. Media Link is essentially Plex running on your TV. You just need to have Plex running on any Windows/OSX computer on your network and your computer will stream right to the TV. It's a great feature and is a tremendous piece of software. As a side note, LG includes a Wireless N adapter unlike Sony who makes you buy it separately for $100. Physically, the TV is very light and slim. The bezel isn't the thinnest I've ever seen, though, if that matters to you. The Magic Motion remote is only OK. It's nothing like a Wii remote. You'll find yourself constantly resetting it because the pointer floats off its original center point in a matter of seconds. I ended up using the normal remote mostly. Sound-wise, the sound/speakers are pretty low-end. They make noise and you can hear stuff, but that's about it.
All in all, this TV excels where a TV should excel: Picture quality. Go to your local retailer and see for yourself. I actually bought this TV based on what I saw with my own eyes. Despite some minor gripes, I feel confident recommending it to anyone on the market for an LED LCD that is fairly budget-friendly.
My Wishlist so far:
1. Not offering Pandora as a Premium App is inexcusable these days. It's the first app I looked for and it's really the only one I care about. And along those lines...
1a. ...If you're playing your iPod through the TV (Stereo mini-plug) to send to your receiver via the TV's Optical-out, the TV thinks there is no signal then shuts itself off automatically after a few minutes, effectively killing your iPod signal.
2. Add TruMotion to the quick menu. It's a very situational feature. I'd love to be able to just enable/disable without digging through the menu.
3. Would like to see release notes for updates. LG Infinia 55LV5500 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV with Smart TV
This is probably the best deal on a 55-inch LED TV for the price. Initially, I was going to buy the cheapest, largest LCD TV I can buy but I ended up buying this one because for 55-inch LED TV, this is cheaper than most LCD TVs plus the smartTV option was great for me since I don't really watch much real TV but I need my Netflix working.
Got my TV, hooked up the LG wifi USB stick, connected to Netflix within seconds and my kids were watching their favorite kid's movies off netflix and we still have no cable!
The TV is super thin, uses less energy than any other TV on the market, and the picture quality is great plus the screen is 55-inches, lovin' it. I used to have a 46-inch but this 55-inch is definitely a great addition to my home.
I know Hulu is coming soon through software update and when that comes my TV will be even better.
For those of you looking to spend around $1200-1400 on the biggest TV you can afford, this is definitely it.
And also I don't need 3D yet and this is good since it's not added to the cost of my TV, I rather wait 2 more years for that when 3D prices come down.
Overall, this is the best 55-inch LED TV you will find anywhere, great prices, and forget all those smaller 42 or 46 inches with 3D unless you are a 3D freak.
This is my first large screen HDTV purchase and I had a list of requirements that had to be met. It had to play a plethora of video codecs natively (so no need for a Blu-ray player) and formats (mkv, iso, avi, xvid etc..) and the viewing angle and picture quality had to be terrific (as in better than comparable models from the last few years). This TV certainly met my lowest requirements and was within my budget. My main video sources are over-the-air HD channels, HD mkv files off of my computer, and video content off of the apps the TV comes with.
Pros:
-Very thin frame. As with all LED-LCD frames, these TV's are just a few millimeters thick. It also takes very little energy.
-Great picture quality. No complaints here. I turned off Tru-Motion and did some calibration and it looks terrific. Absolutely comparable to Sony and Samsung with the right settings. There is some grainy-ness if you get really close up while watching over-the-air HD but this is the case with every set I've seen, whether LED or Plasma.
- While this feature isn't really advertised, 2011 LG Smart TV's come with "Plex" compatibility. Plex is a server you install on your computer and you can stream video/audio/pictures over wifi or wired LAN. It is MUCH better than DLNA in every way. I only use the Plex server, never DLNA anymore because the graphical interface is so much better and the stream connection seems to be more reliable. Plex will pretty much play every video file you throw at it in any resolution (MKV, AVI, ISO, XVID, even uncompressed BD-rips). There are some issues currently with DTS audio in anything other than 2 channel stereo however.
- I believe every unit comes with an IPS panel. There is no more panel lottery anymore with this model at least. Google 'IPS' panel for more info on that if you are unfamiliar.
-Magic Wand Remote. This TV actually comes with 2 remotes. One standard one that has a built in backlight and is laid out very nicely (big buttons). The second remote that comes with this TV is called the "Magic Wand Remote" and it's basically like a Wii-mote. It's a Bluetooth remote that you move to move an on-screen cursor. This makes typing on the on-screen keyboard easy and navigating through menus a breeze.
- Wi-fi is standard. This model comes with a wi-fi adapter standard, so you don't have to buy one. The TV also has a LAN (ethernet) port if you wish to go wired.
Cons:
-The biggest con for me isn't really a problem specific to this set, but wi-fi streaming in general. I have tried to stream 1080p MKV's that are 8-12 GB and above and my 802.11n LAN can't do it without buffering the video every minute or two. I have found that the biggest factor in whether or not a file buffers or plays smoothly over wi-fi is file size. My wireless connection is strong and there's no interference or distance issues. It's just not possible to send huge HD files over most wifi LAN's and have it play back without some buffering, which makes certain files unwatchable. With that said, anything under 5 GB (even HD MKVs) stream perfectly using Plex with no buffering and you have the ability to turn on the subtitles. A lot of the smaller MKV's that work for me still look great in HD (comparable to Blu-Ray). My next step will be to see if an external harddrive directly connected to the USB port on the TV would eliminate buffering. I will also try and get a better internal LAN speed with my N network as that is the main culprit in my buffering. I will update when I try this in the future.
-The speakers on this TV are terrible. I guess when you have a really thin TV you can't put anything better than oversized laptop speakers. Right out of the box, I thought the speakers were broken, they sounded so tinny and distorted, like they had blown out already. After tweaking the sound settings a little they sounded much more reasonable, but they are still very soft and you have to crank it up a lot. This is one area where CRT TV's trump the new flat screens. To truly enjoy this set, I would at least get a sound bar. Almost any external speakers would be an upgrade here.
- The YouTube app from LG (and for that matter the Plex YouTube app also) are useless. You can't view channel pages, you can't find specific videos and you can't watch live YouTube streams. You are pretty much subject to whatever they want to put up when you search for something and to make matters worse the app is VERY slow. I have a 12 MB internet connection and the TV is in the same room as the router, so the loading of whatever random video it gives you is fast but the app itself is unusable. With that said, once you actually get a 1080p YouTube video playing they look outstanding.
- All other apps in general are cumbersome and feel like they are in beta mode. Don't get this TV if you are interested mainly in internet connectivity and features. The built in browser is slower than dial-up and has no flash support. Plex has additional plugins comparable to the LG apps but they don't work either. Plex is best used as a server only but they may improve over time regarding their plugins (apps). FYI on the TV itself Plex is accessed through an app called "MediaLink".
-There is a tiny bit of flashlighting now and then but not really enough to complain about. There is no clouding that I have seen and very little edge light leakage (a good thing).
The only other thing I will mention is that this TV may have locked down functionality. I was reading through AVforums' user impressions of this TV and at some point in an earlier firmware version, apparently this TV had local-dimming settings which would lead me to believe it may not be an edge-lit LED. Don't take my word for it, I don't really know. There may also be built in DVR functionality if you hook up an external hard drive (which once again apparently disappeared with a firmware upgrade). None of these things are advertised and are features in international versions of this model. You can research more on that on your own but it's not really a pro or a con, just something to ponder.
LG's 2011 55LV5500 model is priced enough under Sony and Samsung's comparable LED-LCD's to take a good chunk of the market away from them. I was set on a Samsung or Sony but after researching this model and getting a great deal from another website, I went with the LG 55LV5500 instead and I am pleased. We'll have to wait and see if I get the longevity of a Sony TV. I give this TV 4 stars, with the major flaw being broken internet apps.'

Cpo Bostitch - air tools, bostitch
I ordered this product for a weekend home improvement exterior trim project and it was a great time saver. I got both this item and the 16 Ga nail gun at the same time. This one has the better design for loading the nails, although the other nail gun's nail size is better for sturdier exterior fastening. This 18 Ga gun is probably best for interior trim work. A window in the cassette to help see the size nails or when you are close to running out (prior to climbing to the top of a ladder...) would be a handy addition to this product. This nail gun is very lightweight, the belt clip is good, and it did not jamb once. Highly recommend this to anyone. Bostitch BT1855K 18-Gauge Brad Nailer
This is a excellent brad nailer, enough people have said nice things about it, I'm really writing to make one warning:
I'm actually on my second unit, the first was destroyed by one of my guys who apparently didn't clear a jam properly. I've only ever had it jam one time in my own hand after maybe 6-7K shots, and it only jammed because of a screw behind the molding. But when this thing jams, wow is it a hell of a jam.
If the jam occurs with a brad partially through the nose and the hammer did not retract - DO NOT pull the jammed brad out with a pair of pliers. Because the hammer itself is semi-exposed, yanking on the jammed screw will likely tweak it and it takes an EXTREME amount of force to pull it out (the one time it happened to me the nail was curled up inside and outside). This is what it looks like one of my guys did as evidenced by the gouging in the metal portion of the magazine, unfortunately whatever he did managed to destroy the internals of the driver portion as well.
Instead take the included hex key out of the included pencil sharpener/belt hook and disassemble the head. After I cleared the jam the hammer did not automatically retract like on other nailers I've used. Hesitantly I put everything back together, connected the hose and dry fired it and the hammer resumed normal operation (warning I do not know for sure if this is the "correct" way to return the hammer to it's normal operating position).
Seriously though this unit practically never jams, especially compared to some other brad nailers I've used, it's a great unit and I highly recommend it. On the odd chance it does jam, show it some love and don't just start yanking at it.
I have only owned Porter Cable nail guns in the past, but with all the features the next generation of nailers offers, I had to try the 1855K. Finally, a brad nailer that will shoot 2" nails! Very convenient, and nice to leave only a tiny hole on your finish carpentry work.
Other great features include rear muffled exhaust, oil free operation to prevent staining fine finish work, swivel air hose fitting, belt hook with pencil sharpener(sounds hoakey, but actually quite useful), light weight magnesium body, easy side-load nail clip, any dry-fire feature won't let you fire unless brads are in gun, low-nail indicater, opening in magazine to see length of fasteners being used. Great product that will not dissapoint.
Don't buy the air compressor kit with three guns - they are not the same models. Guns appear much cheaper and magazine is not nearly as easy to open to load nails. The kit guns are cheap junk. The 1855k is a quaility tool. Price is great.
I recently picked up this brad nailer to use with the Jac Pac CO2 regulator. The sales guy selling me the Jac Pac tried to sell me a $310 brad nailer because "most other brad nailers will leak too much air" causing the CO2 cartridge to run out of air. I had no intention of spending that much money on it, so I went to Lowe's and bought this nailer for $99. I cannot sense any air leakage and I was able to drive 1 5/8 brad nails into very hard hardwood (2100 Janka hardness) with the proper countersink and less that 80 psi on the CO2 regulator. The countersink is easily adjustable so you can determine how far in you want the nail to go.
Although I haven't used it much, I am so far very satisfied. If I run into problems later, I will certainly come back to update my post.
I puchased 2 of these guns, and 4 months later both started acting up. Will not fire at all, with no visible signs of O-ring wear, etc.. Now at 5 months later both guns are completely dead. I am returning these and will never be purchasing bostitch again. Their customer service offered to tear it apart to look at it, which leaves me down 2 brad nailers for over a week. NOT HAPPY, BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!
I purchased this gun only because a partner purchased the wrong nails for my other Bostitch gun , so rather than throw out the nails you had a awesome deal on a gun. You have a new customer, Thank you for the price I paid awesome gun.
I bought one and it only lasted 2 or 3 uses. After that it jammed the nail in the interior passageway, requiring a disassembly to get out. I am going to return it and get a Hitachi or Paslode or something. I consider "my" experience poor. I do like the oil-less feature.
Bostitch has really gone down the tubes. This gun consistently won't fire. I thought it was freezing up but it happens in all weather. Press the trigger and hear a hiss of air. I also think the foot is terrible and the belt hook, which must be removed to put it back in the case, is inconvenient. - Bostich - Bostitch - Air Tools - Brad Nailers'

Folding Recumbent Bike - folding exercise bike, exercise bike
My wife and I have been looking for an exercise bike that is comfortable for our backs and seats. Recumbents are good but the costs and space requirements have discouraged us up to now. The Stamina is economical, well made, silent, comfortable, and takes up very little room. It even folds if you want to gain even more space. I was a bit concerned about the bike because when it arrived the packaging was severely gouged (by a forklift?)but the inner packing is well designed and there was no damage. Assembly was easy and took approx. 30 minutes. There is a tool included that will fit all the screws and nuts used.
I have no way to tell how accurate the mileage, caloric, etc. readouts are but I don't find that a problem because I exercise by time and I can pace myself by the various levels indicated. It is quiet so it is easy to exercise while watching TV. We are very satisfied with this product. Stamina 15-0200 InTone Folding Recumbent Bike
As has been stated in other reviews, this has a weight limit of 250 lbs (I'm at 215) and people much taller than I am (5'10") may find the bike too short unless they drill a new hole to further raise the seat. However, it fits me, is stable and doesn't "moan". In fact the mechanism is very, very quiet.
I had a small Tunturi upright bike nearly 30 years ago but now felt that the semi-recumbent form of the Stamina In-Tone would suit me better at this age, and it does. Yes this is a "semi-recumbent" and fits about halfway between an upright and a full recumbent. I like this aspect of the design very much.
The unit is well built (better than I expected) goes together easily in a half hour ("tools" included) and while the seat is harder than I'd like, I just throw a towel over it and it's fine.
A terrific value and a great alternative to big, expensive recumbent bikes.
UPDATE July 2008, I moved up to a much larger, more expensive, heavier-duty Ironman Charger (hey it was in the Gold Box!)
The Stamina is fine, but it is best if you really need the space savings or dollar savings. HTH
I really, really wanted to give this bike 4 to 5 stars because the flaws it has are relatively minor, but they would have been so easy to fix by the manufacturer that it galls me more than it should to see the product crippled the way it is by them.
First the good:
- Its easy to move, deploy and store.
- Small footprint, both folded and unfolded
- Has the Bells & Whistles of more expensive models
Now the stuff that will annoy you:
- Terrible instructions, perhaps I'm spoiled on IKEA but the assembly instructions are poorly laid out and mislabeled
- Mediocre machining of key parts; the frame fits together roughly instead of snuggly.
- Washers, bolts and nuts are generic sized instead of fitted to their specific purpose on the bike.
These problems come to their apex with the backrest. The concept is solid, but it fits together so poorly that there is no way to configure it so that it won't wobble, shake and possibly detach when in use. After closer examination this problem comes down to a single badly fitted bolt and two slot-and-pin fittings that simply do not fit together. Both of these could have been fixed with a few millimeters of machining and pennies for the proper nuts and bolts. In fact, once I do this myself, I suspect the bike will be worth of 4 to 4.5 stars, but the customer really shouldn't have to "hack" the product like this to make it safe and satisfactory. If you're reading this Stamina, take note and give this product the tiny tweak it needs to be a respectable addition to your product line and our home gyms.
I was pleased with my purchase. The price was right and it was just what I wanted for my knee's rehab. After two weeks I started getting a grinding sound in the area of the flywheel, and the tension increased to the point I couldn't pedal. I called Stamina Products but couldn't get through to a customer rep. I've sent them two detailed emails and gotten no response. Today I left a voice mail message. We shall see if I get anywhere. The unit works great when it works, but so far I've had less than two weeks of use. If I get a response from Stamina I will update this message.
I like the price, am very happy with how compactly it stores, and believe it is a good bargain for what you get, but I have two criticisms:
1. It wobbles a bit from side to side when you really get going (the pivot joint could have been more beefy). Fortunatley this is more of a distraction than a serious problem.
2. It is not made for people over 6' tall (I am 6'-4"). The seat does not extend far enough for my legs to pedal without closing to an acute angle (less than 90 degrees). To compensate, I drilled a new hole further down the shaft. I probably voided the warranty doing so, but it is a much better fit for my long legs.
Yes, I said junk. Yes, I still rated it 3 stars. I lost all tension after one month of use (35-50 minutes/day, 5-7 days/week). I took the unit apart (even a fiscal conservative like me knows enough not to bother with customer service at a company with three different warranties- not for $150...) The "tensioner" knob does nothing. There is a stop screw inside that prevents the "tensioner" from doing anything except at the tightest level. Even then its effects are minimal. The actual tension comes from a spring (not adjustable) that tensions the drive belt. The drive belt runs poorly across two guiding rollers. After a month, the spring popped loose when I was folding the bike. When I took the covers off, I found that the belt is slowly rubbing away due to poor routing through the rollers. (Belt part # Fengshou Sanmen Tingpang 270J 005 3F). I was able to fix this in 25 minutes.
All that being said, the bike has a tiny footprint, is comfortable, silent, folds up very small for storage, and it's CHEAP! How's that for mixed signals?? - Exercise Bikes - Exercise Bike - Recumbent Bike - Folding Exercise Bike'

Woodworking - router, woodworking
Previously, I had the Bench Dog router table/cabinet and was looking to create more shop space by using this on my Jet Supersaw instead of a dedicated router table. It fits the bill perfectly. I am using this with a Porter Cable router, fits the base of my router perfectly and is predrilled for my adjustment wrench. The router fence is movable and comes with a dust collection port. The mitre slots fit my guides perfectly. I would recommend adding a second base to your router and mounting it permanently, this allows you to slide the router in whenver you want to use it without the hassle of remounting the base to the plate.
Pros
- Router plate can be leveled perfectly with about 10 adjustment points.
- Adjustable width fence, locks in place, good dust collection.
- Super heavy...when added to my saw, there is very little vibration which makes for precise routing work. (Of course, the saw itself is heavy, but the router table makes it moreso.
- Typical Bench Dog quality - I have always been pleased with their products.
Cons
- Super heavy...difficult to mount by yourself but I was able to make it happen using clamps. If you don't have a jack stand, you will need a second set of hands.
- Does not come with a router mounting plate (add $55 or so). I had planned on transferring my old Bench Dog mounting plate but it would not fit by about 1/16th of an inch. Make sure you order when you order the top. Bench Dog Tools 40-102 ProMax Cast Iron Router Table Extension
Using this on a Delta 36-979 table saw. I removed one of the built in wings and replaced it with the bench dog. On this particular saw, I was able to recycle the old wing by attaching it to the other old wing on the opposite side of the bench.
So I get: |Bench Dog Router Wing|Table Saw|Old wing 1|Old Wing 2|
The quality is everything you would expect. Solid as you can imagine a cast iron table to be. Plenty of mounting screws and t-slot screws in the box. Also a decent looking fence that I'm not using.
I enhanced package with an 32" incra fence (+ incra router wonder fence) on 72" rails. Everything fit great.
The only gotcha to be aware of is you MUST get the bench-dog router plate or router lift to fit this table. Incra and other lifts have their own unique dimensions and won't fit this table (ever). The bench dog lift is one of the more expensive lifts on the market. I dinged them a star here.. I suppose all router lifts deserve to lose a little credit there.
EDIT, CORRECTION
See comments below about other lifts that will fit the table.
I purchased this extension to go with an delta contractor saw. I had expected to add it the already installed extension. Instructions say to remove the extension. I suppose it has to do with the weight on one end. Lots weight on 2 bolts. Well this makes the extension I have useless. I did add it to the right side, but I have a side table there and didnt need the extension.
The extension is well machined and fit easily. I used horses to support it for installation, no big deal. Depending on your router you may need separate plates. I have a milwaukee 5625 and porter cable 690. I bought a second plate for the 690. Plates are 50. On the positive they are heavy machined steel. Good leveling screws. I also bought the bench dog power lok. That is a piece of junk. I think I will use the power lock for the table saw and dump the bench dog lock.
Fence is nice, lots of places for feather boards. Well machined. I gave it 4 stars since I had to remove the extentsion.
I installed this on a 10" Rigid saw. My neighbor came over and we had it installed in about two beers. My 1st project was some raised panels and it worked out great. This Router Table is well machined and heavy duty. It bolted up to my saw with no problem. I now have a nice router table and did not have to give up any shop space for it. I also added a Porter Cable 890 Router to dedicate it to the table.
Don't forget to order the Plate insert that fits your Router!
I purchased this router table top for my Delta R/T unisaw almost a year ago along with the Bench dog pro lift, and a P/C 7518 3HP router. This set up is sweeeet!! Very accurate and well built, the extention adds approx. 6 inches to the width and bolted up with no problems. With the router always ready to go I look forward to using the saw/router combo on any of my projects.
I spent a lot of time waffling over spending $300 on a router accessory. I ended up buying the Bench Dog 40-102 and a Rockler FX lift. After about 3 hours of fiddling around, drilling holes and doing some heavy lifting with the help of some clamps and a 2x4 or two, I have a phenomenal router table integrated with my Jet 708480K ProShop Tablesaw.
Mounting the table on the Jet required drilling a pair of 3/8" holes in the side of the router table but other than that, it was pretty straightforward. Note that if you have a Jet saw, the four mounting bolts that connect the table to the saw are metric and the included hardware is SAE. You will need to pick up four 8mm x 1.25 x 35mm bolts since the bolts holding the steel table extension to the saw are too short for the thickness of the cast iron.
Solid as a rock and the FX lift fit with no modification necessary. Once it was installed, any remorse over the expense disappeared.
Highly recommended!
I bolted this router table to the right side of a Porter Cable PCB270TS. I searched to see if anyone had tried this yet but the saw is relatively new and most people bolt it to the left side, as suggested. I took a chance and had no problems. Bolt placement was spot on. Hardware matched. No additional support is required from the fence rails but the front rails' captured bolt was easy to slide into a hole in the side of the router table so I used it even though it's not really providing much additional support. Nothing needed through the rear rail and it's surprisingly solid.
Good product, saves space. It is heavy but I used a couple adjustable roller stands to set the unit by myself and it worked out fine. Just be careful when you first clean it as some machined edges are sharp. I got a nice "paper cut" from a paper towel swipe down the inside of the T-slot... deburring the few sharp edges only takes a minute. - Router - Router Accessories - Woodworking - Benchdog Router Table'

1080p Lcd Hdtv - lcd tv, flat screen
I got in on the lighting deal on this... Had it next day shipped (I love Amazon Prime!) and set it up the day after I ordered it. Out of the box, based screwed on, and set up via HDMI in under 15 minutes. The biggest concern was the remote and the warranty. Keep reading to see how they weren't an issue!
There are 4 screws that hold the base down. This can also be attached to a standard VESA wall mount. There are plenty of inputs as pictured. The VGA is very nice if you wanted to hook a laptop up to this. The side RCA and side HDMI is a nice addition for a TV at this price point. The menu interface is well done and actually a lot better than I'd expect for something at this price. The picture is nice and for the price, really you can't go wrong!
The TV seemed well packed and protected. There was a nice thick plastic sheet taped to the front to protect the actual screen. Three language manuals and a quick start card for assembly are in the package. There were no dead pixels on my set and the picture is crisp and clear. Note: This TV is only 720p, it is NOT 1080p as mentioned in another review. Overall I'm VERY impressed with this TV for the price.
I was worried about the warranty, which according to the manual is 90 days parts and labor, 1 year parts. I opted for a SquareTrade warranty for 3 years. You can search the internet for coupons and get good discounts on them or make it easy and buy the SquareTrade warranty direct through Amazon. I got a 3 year warranty for about $20.
UPDATE: The code I used for my Comcast Remote (the Red OK button version) was: 10812 This is for an Akai TV Manufaturer. But it all works, On, Off, Volume, Input, Menu, etc. So even if you don't have Comcast, you can see if your remote has codes for Akai and try that out.
SECOND UPDATE: Another user confirmed that they were able to use their Time Warner universal remote by programming the remote to control an Akai TV. You might want to try this if you can't find a code.
If you need to program your remote, most likely your cable provider has the instructions online, so do a search.
At first I gave this 4 stars, but seeing how the remote and warranty issues are resolved, I'm upping to 5 stars for a simply excellent (paid $198) value! iSymphony LC26iH56 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black
The price seemed too good to be true when I ordered it, and in fact it was. The screw holes to attach the TV stand were drilled into the back, but the female machined metal parts were not installed, so the stand could not be attached. I tried to contact customer support and they had no idea what they were talking about. It's a company they hire out- not iSymphony. Any way, they had me go to an auto parts store to try to buy new screws, because they said I needed bigger ones and weren't authorized to send them to me. The new screws were about 4 times too wide, and no way that was going to work.
I hooked it up without the stand anyway to see if I'd opt for a replacement vs return. For the price, the picture looks pretty awesome, however this TV has one green dot/ dead pixel on the left side. Hopefully this TV is just uniquely bad. Since the picture is so nice, I decided to try to replace it.
Oh one other thing I'm noticing. No audio output- so external speakers might be difficult without splitting wires or being creative some other way.
Will update this review when I see how the replacement experience goes.
UPDATE: Amazon is telling me I might not be able to get a free replacement, but they don't know why. The customer service rep was extremely helpful, but he couldn't figure out why he couldn't get it to process. He said he's got three people working on it. :)
I over-nighted the original TV, but now who knows if or when I can get another one.
Alright Amazon customer service is awesome!!! Amazon definitely gets 5 stars from me! The guy finally figured it out and sent me out another TV next day!!! But... of course the stand doesn't connect again. No green dot this time, so it's time to find some screws that will hold the stand.
Ok so I ordered this tv yesterday on a lightning deal and had never herd of this brand. I was very worried what It would be when I opened the box but Fedex delivered it 30 minutes ago (less then 24 hours from my placed order to delivery) and it was packaged well looks just like every other lcd and the remote worked great! I had it out of the box and hooked up in about 10 minutes that's including screwing in the base. There was no info on this tv when i ordered it so I hope this helps someone. It has plenty of connections including computer connections it has the standard wall mount holes, and from what i can tell in the first hour of owning it looks just as great and crisp as much more expensive flat screens. One thing I'm confused about is it says only 720p on Amazon but i have it hooked up with only component cables while waiting on my new cable box with hdmi hookups and the picture is already reading 1080i. so I'm thinking when the hdmi is hooked up it will be a full 1080p but do not hold me to that. So even though I still don't know the warranty or anything about this brand I am very happy with my $198.00 purchase and it looks great in my bedroom. Great buy so far!
As stated already, this Lightning Deal is worth every cent. Delivered in less than 24 hours in perfect condition. Setup was a breeze so far. Cable from the wall, navigate to Auto Tune (there is a prompt instructing you to do this) and it scans for a few minutes. The image is crisp on HD channels. No dead pixels. Menu and user interface is well done, easy to navigate. I'd say this is the best deal we have scored this holiday season.
So I bought this for the early Christmas present. Did the one day shipping... I love Amazon Prime! And Fed Ex came. At first I wasn't sure but me and my father had it up and working in 15.. (Had to find a place to put it and look for screwdriver)
I love picture it gives me. Only downside is since I have Time Warner Cable they dont have to code for it.. already called them. So we gotta use the remote for the tv to turn on/off and volume. But other then that.. HD TV in the living room is awesome!
edit: after having a comment on my review.. I followed the little booklet from my cable provider. I got the remote to work on the TV. So it went up a star.
I still love this TV. - Hdtv - Lcd Tv - 26 Inch - Flat Screen'

I love this polisher!! Mine came with a great rigid carry case too. This polisher is easy to handle, and the variable speed and water feed are fantastic. I've polished some beautiful concrete countertops with it, and I love it. The long cord with gfi is a definite plus, and cleaning the tool is convenient. I haven't had any problems to note here, i'm just very satisfied with such a great polisher at a reasonable price.
