Bamboo Fly Rod Building - bamboo fly rod building, fly fishing

I have been building rods for 25 years and sold them professionally for 15. So I know a few things about rod building. I bought the Rod Building Guide originally just to have it for my library - I didn't think there would be anything in it that I didn't know. I was wrong.Although the book is aimed at the beginner, it is full of information for the advanced rod builder as well. So much of what we rod builders do is based on information that is outdated or not entirely accurate. What Mr. Kirkman has done, is explain the intricacies of things like spine, adhesives, modulus, action, power, mechanics, etc., etc., into plain everyday language that anyone can understand and learn from. He also dispels many of the common rod building myths that have come down the pike over the years. The 100 full color photos are clear and the text is concise. .... This one is the cream of the crop. You cannot do better if you want the best instruction possible on building your own fishing rod. Rod Building Guide: Fly, Spinning, Casting, Trolling

Although I had already built a few rods, when this book came out I jumped on it. I picked up a ton of info that made building futures rods much easier and much better. I rate this book very highly. The photos are full color and numerous and make understanding the 'how-to' very easy.

I had been wanting to build my own fishing rods for a few years. Tried once but didn't like the results. My wife bought me this book from Amazon.com and I got right in and used it to build another rod. This time everything came out just right. I credit the Rod Building Guide with guiding me over the rought spots and making sure I did things right. I found it very helpful and would say any new rod builder should not be without it.

I wanted to get started in building my own fishing rods and this book was recommended to me. I bought a copy and it lead me step by step to making my first rod with no problems. Then when I progressed more and made more rods and wanted to get started turning and making my own grips and reel seats it had that information in there too. I think this is a very complete book that does more than just help you with your first rod. It grows with you as you gain more experience and is something you can continue to lean on for many years in this great hobby.

I have several rod building books. Bought this one for my personal library on the subject. I think it is the best rod building book I have read so far. The color photos are great and really very helpful. I really don't see how they can sell it for less then... Great book.

I think I've bought and read every single book ever published on custom rod building at this point. Rod Building Guide must now be considered the "Bible" of custom rod building information in text form. It is the most up to date and informative text on the subject of any book I've read, including either of the Clemens books! The author breaks things down into simple steps that anyone can follow, but also adds easy to understand technical reasons for why each step is necessary and how best to perform. The 100+ full color photos don't hurt either!

Great book from a guy who certainly knows the subject inside and out. I would recommend it to anyone. The low price belies the true value of the book. It would be a bargain at three times the price!

I have 5 rod building books currently. I got this one for Christmas and thought I wouldn't get anything new out of it. I was wrong. This is the best of all the rod building books I have ever read. Great color photographs and information not found in other rod building books. I would recommend it to anyone.

If you are building your first rod, this is the book you want to read. I own three books by Dale Clements, own several issues of Rodmaker magazine and have been conducting online research for almst a year, but never really felt comfortable enough to risk my blank until I read this book.

Short, and to the point, Kirkman covers details that all others assume a builder already knows, such as how to actually mount a reel seat and how to temporarily affix guides to test positioning. He also gives actual photos in a step-by-step guide to beginning guide and butt wrapping, not just line drawings.

Clements' books are great after you have a rod under your belt, but get this one for your first and you won't go wrong.

This book was awsome. I read a few times and it takes you step by step on how to build a fishing rod. I have built 3 fly rodsand 3 spinning rods with this book. My kids have also built rods with this book as well. Great book for begginers who want to start building fishing rods but dont have the time or money to pay for the class. - Fly Fishing - Bamboo Fly Rod Building - Fishing Rod'

Amazon Oddities - cocktail accessories, ice cube tray

Quite cool I think. Perfect for those cold rum concoctions of summertime. Sure, it's pretty expensive as an ice cube tray, but it's got a high novelty factor. Pair it with a good Easter Island drink and you have a new tradition in your home.

My recommended drink for these ice cubes:

"Pisco on the brainstem"

5oz Pisco (duty free shops in South America have the cool Moai bottles for much less than any US liquor stores)

3oz Fresh lime juice

2tsp Cane Sugar (Maui sugar is best)

1oz Limoncello (or Orangecello)

2oz Lemon sour mixer

Pour over Maoi ice cubes. Top with 151 rum. Fred & Friends Stone Cold Ice Trays

VERRRY cool item and versatile too! Highly recommended! I melted some chocolate chips in the microwave so they were "just" melted and not "too" hot, then filled the mold, let it set to cool solid in the 'frig and voila'....cool "Easter Chocolates" (get it?). Looked cool and tasted even better. I plan on making Moai mini soaps next. I figure as long as the liquid is not too hot, it should be okay to fill, since it's silicone.

There's something about those Easter Island statues that I've always liked, so I love having little ice cubes shaped like them.

The ice tray itself is great, it's like a silicon rubber that can be easily bent to remove the cubes you want at the time without any trouble whatsoever. Because of this they also retain their full shape, unlike plastic trays you have to twist and sometimes the ice breaks off, leaving some left in the tray. With the silicon, this never happens.

The tray makes neat ice. It's a bit messy to load, but using a small cutting board for stability it can be managed fine.

The problem is that it taints the ice with a bad taste -- a plastic / rubber chemical taste. Perhaps it can be avoided if the ice is removed from the tray and stored in another container immediately after freezing, but if you leave it in the tray for more than a day, your drink will taste bad.

The Fred & Friends ice cube tray makes for a novel addition. Cubes turn out great, but the frame is weak and it is difficult to get into the freezer (especially if yours is overflowing like ours). Other than that, it has been durable and a good product.

Perfect for party drinks or just to hang out, they look really cool. Only concern is the tray is so rubbery it needs some support to carry it with water. Not even a minor concern just a thought. Ice comes out easy and looks sweet.

they freeze quick

i see some guy here whined that the tray changed the taste of the ice? i assume he didn't read the instructions and tried to eat the ice tray.

some others parsed that it's impossible to remove the cubes. i suspect they work for the old-school ice tray lobby. nothing could be easier.

it is a little tricky to fill the tray and then carry it to the freezer without spilling. i put the tray in a rectangular pyrex pan and then put the whole thing in the freezer.

deducting a star as i see they have recently jacked the price from $6 to $10. c'mon man?

adding the 5th star again as Fred apparently read my review and came to his senses and lowered the price back down.

I have a tissue cover that is another of the Easter Island figures, so I had to have these ice cubes, and of course ever since "Night at the Museum" all I can think of when I see this statue is "Hey you Dum-Dum, you bring me gum-gum?". So the ice cubes have been a big hit at my house.

I found the best way to load the tray was to put it in the freezer first and then fill it from a measuring cup with a spout. Also, I washed my tray befor the first use with lots of soap and I never noticed a strange taste to the ice cubes. - Ice Cube Tray - Humor - Cocktail Accessories - Fun Cubes'

Access Points - access point, wireless

This access point is an excellent router when it is working well. The streaming and download speeds were fast. The set-up however is not as easy as the average computer user would like to deal with, but if you know what you're doing it will be painless and quick.

Aside from the great performance and the set-up process, this router is very unreliable about keeping devices connected to the network. I have up to 8 differerent products connected to this access point, and of the devices I use the most (laptops, iPad, gaming consoles) it is constantly kicking them off the network. Not only does it kick them off, but the only solution to reconnecting them seems to be to reboot the access point. I had to do this at least 5 times a week up until I got sick of it and replaced it.

Apparently this seems to be a common issue among owners of this particular access point, so I would suggest to avoid this access point for those reasons. It can be a real inconvienence to your network. NETGEAR Wireless-N Access Point

While setup and use of the wireless access point was easy. I'm quite disappointed with the performance speed and intermittent connectivity. It was slow compared to an older access point I purchased a few years ago, and of the connectivity issue was maddening. - Wireless Access Point - Wireless N - Access Point - Wireless'

Maternity Bra - nursing bra

The bra in itself looks great and is comfortable. The only thing for me is that I've been having trouble nursing with this bra because the soft cups get in the way. It pooks in the face of my little one, which of course is not desirable. If you're used to soft cups and nursing with them, it would be a great bra, but for me, I didn't seem to get it to work. Gilligan & O'Malley® Womens Nursing Soft Cup Bra - Ebony 40D

My friend told me about this nice, cotton and very comfortable maternity bra.She has it in any possible colour. It turn out to be very true.I still wear it even if I am not nursing anymore.Be careful with the sizes though if you are ordering it before the baby.I was 34B,now 36C.Better have it in a bigger size than tight. This it not good for milk producing. - Nursing Bra'

Sound Bar

First, Amazon is one of the best out there for price, selection and shipping!

The HT-D6730w is very good for the price and seems to have corrected the problems that you may have read about by the end users of the HT-C6930W.

The sound is as good as my 8 year old Onkyo system which cost $1500. Although my Onkyo is better built with polished aluminum speakers/AV and a AC power sub (the Samsung is high gloss piano finished plastic) the processing for surround seems to work better with this Samsung system. (Modern technology) at it best ;-)

The system is very well packed in its box and took me as much time to unpack it as it did to set up, about an hour from start to finish and looks/sounds great with my 65 DLP TV.

I was a little confused looking at the picture and only counting 5 speakers plus sub; how could it be 7.1 The two front tower speakers is 2 separate speakers in 1. Therefore by counting them twice you come up with 7 plus the sub. The 2 rear wireless speakers have wires that go to the wireless AC power module and then it communicates with the AV receiver wireless across the room. The sub does not require a separate AC plug-in, which was surprising to me, however works very well.

The blue-ray player does not have a pop out tray, but direct feed like a CD player in a car. The up scaling works great and standard DVD's looks as good as HD. The 2D to 3D is not bad either. I put in Polar Express (standard DVD) movie and clicked on 2D to 3D along with the 3D sounds and my kids just loved it ;-). One button push on the remote to get to Netflix is another plus.

Again, for the price this is a very good system! Samsung Electronics HT-D6730W Home Theater System

Overall it is an awesome unit and a good price. I agree with most everyone's 5 star reviews. The user interface is great, the online features are awesome (go Netflix!), 3D movies are spectacular, and the sound quality is good. I especially like the form factor. It is a thin receiver with built in 3D blu-ray. I like the small footprint. My only gripe and the reason why I gave it only 4 stars is that I found that the tower speakers look and feel cheap. They did not stand up perfectly strait (leaned forward a bit) and event though they were on level ground they had some give/sway to them. It is all very plastic. Mine may have been damaged in shipping but it is hard to tell. Either way, overall I would recommend these for the price and user experience. It works great with Samsung TVs.

Bought this mostly for three reasons:

1. So I wouldn't have any compatibility problems with my Samsung TV

2. Rear wireless speakers (although not true wireless, sure beats having wires or having to running wires across the living room)

3. Tallboy front speakers. (I have my TV mounted on the wall, so having these tall speakers helps the room look proportional. And I don't have to buy speaker stands for them)

Obviously if you are looking for a system with the best sound quality there are better products out there in this price range, but I was looking for a specific set of features.

During my research to find a stereo system that had the perfect blend of qualities, features, and price I came to the conclusion that this was the perfect one for what I was looking for.

I've had this product now for about a month, and have no complaints. The 3D blu-ray works well with my TV, I like the Ipod/Iphone cradle that it comes with to play my tunes, the sounds are rich and full, and am impressed with all the little online features the system offers.

The only thing I didn't like about this was the depth of the blu-ray player/receiver. I had to cut out the back of my display case/shelf, that I use to place all my electronics on, more than usual for this device. I thought drilling a hold in the back for all the wires would suffice, but had to cut a lot more to provide enough space for the device.

All in all, I would recommend this product for those looking for the above features.

It's a Really good system. I had to turn off my HDMI Deep Color off to work with my Projector. I thought it was the system. So i sent it back Amazon sent me another one real quick. That one did the same thing, so I called Samsung customer service they said I had a another defective system. I turned off that HDMI Deep Color Off and Presto, It works like a Charm. I always order my stuff through Beach Audio or JR Audio and it comes with in 3 to 5 days, but I save like about 1 to 2 Hundred every purchase. The Sound isn't all that loud but My wife kinda likes it that way. I have my 360 and computer hooked up but I always need 1 more HDMI Input, but nothing a splitter wouldn't Fix. Very Nice System Overall. A must buy if you like all kinds of cool features Like AllShare,NetFlix and YouTUBE.

We love the sound of the system but the wireless speakers would not work after many attempts and calling Samsung. We sent the receiver and wireless speakers back to Samsung per their instructions, received them back two weeks later. Hooked it all up and they worked for about two minutes. Very disappointing. Now we have to send it back again. When you spend that much for a system and what you think is a quality brand it is very upsetting. We had a panasonic wireless system in the past and wish we would have done that route again, never had these issues with it.

For the middle $600 range I expected more than I got, particularly since it was highly rated in Consumer Reports. I am going to send this unit back.

The stereo effect is good but otherwise the sound quality is what you would expect of a $250 boom box. Sibilants are a bit hissy, distortion at the mid-range is higher than I would like. Woofer adds good bass, but it is muddy on the low notes of a stand-up bass or a pipe organ.

It detects when you turn the TV off (presumably through a signal in the HDMI cable) and it turns itself off. But it DOESN'T automatically turn itself back on. You have to switch it on separately. It is a real effort to avoid sarcasm when looking at this glaring omission.

The product seems more designed to sell Samsung Internet services and other devices than to fit well into an ad hoc collection of TV, DVR and sound system.

If you are a Tivo user be aware that there is no remote control code available for this Samsung unit, so you need to juggle one remote control for volume and mute and another to control the TiVo.

Finally it came as a surprise to me that the "wireless" rear speakers are not truly wireless although they do use less wire. There is a wireless receiver that plugs into the wall at a distance and then feeds the speakers through speaker wires. I guess this is par for the course for home theater systems, but I wish it were better described.

On the plus side, it was easy to connect the Samsung built=in wireless to my Airport Express wireless router.'

Non-slip - hot yoga, skidless

...for the bleeding in the laundry. There are all sorts of methods for dealing with this, e.g. putting a tablespoon of white vinegar in the wash water; washing twice before use; washing in very cold water; washing with like colors only .....

I've decided just to buy the white ones. Solves the bleeding problem and bypasses all the above.

That aside, these are genius mats and there are sure to be imitators on the market soon. One side is covered with rubbery nubs and the other side is smooth, so you can choose how you want to use it. (for pilates I use a sticky mat and then turn rubber side down, so no slippage; for hatha I turn rubber side up for toe grips .... cheating I know but there it is.)

They absorb sweat well for bikrammers, though major sweaters might still consider the Breathe mats for bikram.

So. Namaste. Yogitoes Skidless Premium Mat Size Yoga Towel (Chinese Element Collection - Water)

I am somewhat disappointed with this product. I expected not to skid at all, and I still slide around a fair bit in yoga class. It does do a great job absorbing sweat in hot yoga classes and it also moves around very little on my mat, even when I jump forward/back. However, I'm still looking for something that will help my hands to stop sliding when I'm in downward dog. I had hoped this was that solution, but it's not.

Having slip-slided through vinyasa and ashtanga classes for nearly 10 years, this product looked like the answer to my prayers. Until I tried it. And experienced it flip up and kink with every jump back. If you must try this, spray it down with water before you begin to practice, so you get more traction. Or fold it up at the front of your mat and pull it out when you're sweating up a storm. It will not "stick" unless it's damp. I repeat, it must be damp! Never use fabric softener with it, it will render it useless. Downy completely obliterates the traction. Expect the stitching to unravel when you wash it...even if you wash it on cold in the gentle cycle. Another piece of advice, get the white...unless you have time to wash it separately in cold every time you use it (which is inconvenient if you practice more than once a week, which you probably do if you're considering this). The color runs and fades and, over time, you'll find you have to wash it in hot to really sanitize it. In which case, the dot on the front will crack and peel. I've given up the yogitoes and replaced it with a good, old fashioned towel. I also sometimes use the hand-towel sized yogitoes...that one is pretty good. Overall, just bring a towel that hasn't been washed in fabric softener and skip this thing. Particularly if you do vinyasa or ashtanga. Yogitoes is good in theory, but not practice.

I was getting tired of dripping sweat all over my yoga mat, so I was torn between buying one of these towels, or a cotton yoga blanket. I went with the towel after reading the reviews here. As other reviewers have noted, the non-nubby side of the towel is quite slippery. The cloth is much smoother than a standard terrycloth towel and there's just no texture to "grip".

The towel itself sticks to my mat beautifully, but my hands and feet were sliding all over the smooth side of the towel. I took another reviewer's advice and dampened the towel before my next class. That definitely helped. I haven't tried using it with the nubby side up, maybe that makes a difference. Overall, I'm happy with it, but this towel would be greatly improved with more texture on both sides.

After reading the other reviews for Yogitoes, it sounded like an absolute must-have. It is nice looking and the rubber nubs on the underside do stick well to the surface underneath. However, I didn't find the towel side to be sticky enough at all. I do work up a sweat but apparently not enough moisture on the hands and feet for this thing to work. During triangle pose and downward dog, I felt my feet slide apart ever so slowly. For someone at the edge of their pose, a slip could mean injury at worst or a break of flow at best.

I've washed the mat three times and it does bleed the first two washes. I've used it enough hoping I would finally stick those down-dogs. Each time, I've flung it off and used my Gaiam mat mid-practice. So I end up putting wear and tear on the Gaiam too. I can't return the Yogitoes now. But I can use it in the floor at home for stretches and in class for shivasana, so it isn't a total loss.

This mat just didn't do it for me.

After seeing many fellow yogis use these in class to keep from slipping on their mats, I saved up and bought one. After reading the cleaning instructions carefully to avoid the bleeding of colors onto other clothes, I washed it separately. Unfortunately, my first washing caused the edging/stitching to become unraveled. Just a bummer for a $45 product. I have yet to fix it or use it because once it's used, it needs washing and will continue to fall apart. Returning defective products purchased on the internet is loathsome. I had better get out my sewing machine and start stitching...if only I had the proper type of thread. Ughh! - Skidless - Yoga Towel - Hot Yoga'

Gaucho Pants - mossimo, target

These pants are perfect! The material is very exercise friendly, I got them for belly dancing. The wide leg is beautiful! They are low-cut and I can roll them lower if I need to without them looking strange. Added bonus: they make my butt look super-cute and perky! Love them! I'm 5'7" and got a large size, they are a bit long but not so long that I will trip on them when I dance. They would look awesome with a great pair of heels on a night out! LONG LOW CUT GAUCHO PALAZZO BOHO WIDE LEG FLARE PANTS, Large, Black

I am 5"11 and 140 lb. I ordered these pants because I wanted something easy to put on easy to wash and something I can wear everyday and also for formal occasions.

I was afraid at first they might not be long enough for me because my legs are so long. But I was very much overjoyed that they come down below my ankles! They are a very cool comfortable fabric, perfect for hot summer days. Super easy to wash all you need to do is put them in the washer on your "handwash" cycle and pull them out and hang dry them over night! I have ordered 4 pairs so far and they are great! I have had these pants for a year now and they have been through having to walk over dirt graveled roads. Dogs jumping up on them. Cats scratching them. And these pants have lasted through all that! There is not one scratch or rip or tear in them!

It is completely worth the price!

These pants are perfect for dance/zumba class. I'm a zumba instructor and I love how the fabric stays cool even after dancing for one hour. They are very comfortable and fit really nicely. I'm 5'6 and they are very long for me. I'm also very slim and they are not baggy at all.

The dancing pants feel very comfortable ! The color is slightly shining which makes it perfect for stage performance ! My friend and I both loved it.

The shape is perfect, its tightly fit the body but not too exaggerative like other belly dance pants. You can even wear as casual pants !

The seller is so nice! It was wrapped very cutely and further more, there is a little surprising gift! haha ~ :)

I bought these in black and am going to get the red now. They are super comfortable and perfect for what I wanted. I wear them for social/casual ballroom dancing with ballroom dance heels and a black short sleeve shirt with fun details (lace or fringe, etc). The pants are the perfect length for me (I'm 5'7) and they keep me cool. They also make my butt look great!

I am 5'10 and 135 lbs and was looking for a long, comfy pant to wear with sandals to the beach or to do yoga in. I bought the medium in black. The pants are a tacky polyester blend, are too baggy, and only come to my ankles! The manufacturer threw in a free pair of "Valentine's Day" black thong panties (studded with metal silver hearts) and those are much cuter than the pants, unfortunately they are a medium too which is way too big. I cannot recommend these pants to anyone unless you are short, overweight, and do not care how you look. These may fit someone but they will not flatter. They are definitely not long enough or fitted enough for tall, slender women. - Mossimo - Target'

Audio Video Stand - audio-video shelving, sturdy

This equipment rack is a great price for a good looking unit. Quality was a little off which affected assembly; some of the welded inserts that are used to thread the corner posts together were a little off which made it a bit of a challenge to assemble a couple of the shelves, also the chrome trim rings had a few areas where the chrome had flaked off the plastic ring but once assembled you don't see the blemishes. The rack is very solid once assembled. My unit (clear glass with black legs) came with silver trim rings at the end of the black posts (as shown in the photo) and an optional set of black rings for an all-black post look. Would buy again. Walker Edison Everest Multilevel Component Stand, Black

I recently purchased a new LCD TV and mounted it on my wall. So I needed something to place my AV components on underneath the TV. After a decent amount of comparison shopping I finally went wtih the Walker Edison product.

Putting the stand together was very straight forward, and when assembled is very sturdy. It easily holds all of my AV components and looks good doing it.

Overall I am very satisfied so far with the product especially when other items I compared it to were 2 to 3 times the price.

Item arrived in good shape, no broken glass or missing parts. Shipped in original container, several dings on box, nothing damaged, box needs more tape/straps to survive UPS. Fit of parts 3/5, quality of parts 4/5, final product 4/5.

PRO: Strong when assembled, I am 6'2", 225 and I could probably stand on top shelf safely. Looks good when assembled, nice and solid. 45 minutes to assemble with dog's help. Beveled glass shelves were perfect, no flaws or scratches. Tubes can be rearranged as needed to change shelf clearance, just be careful of plastic spacer orientation - see directions. Directions: OK, self explanatory, all parts numbered/labeled. Tools needed to assemble: opposeable thumb, index finger, then twist, suggest twist tubes crosswise/diagonal pattern, don't stress glass, don't over tighten.

CON: Plastic spacers - yeah they are plastic, so what? Their function is to cushion the glass when you tighten the tubes down. Powder coating spray job sort of flaky in spots but not noticeable. 3 of lower tubes/short foot tubes (tube #7) did not align quite plumb and square, brackets in 3 of those tubes were off a bit, but a shim or a washer from hardware store placed under tube on floor when done will stop any wobbling. No casters but a set of furniture coasters should help in movement to reposition/clean. No wire management but can use Velcro/cable ties. I got the clear glass model, doesn't show dust like black model. Get shop vac out, styro foam packing flies around.

OVERALL: Solid product, couple of flaws, not major. Good appearance when done. Recommended.

The good first. It came with extra screws and caps in case you need it.

The bad is the the glass shelves seem to be a bit off tolerance. You can insert the poles and screw pefectly fine in one shelf but then the next shelf the hole may just barely line up which may require you to put some "oomph" into setting it in place. With tempered glass I'd rather not put any type of force on any single side.

I don't normally write product reviews because I don't have the time. This product deserves some of my time. I spent quite a few hours looking for the right rack for my components. I had just purchased a top-of-the-line Samsung 3D TV, and I wanted to supplement it with affordable but stylish accessories. As far as the rack goes, I needed a certain # of shelves and a certain maximum height, so this may not work for all, but if you want an approx. 3 foot tall, 5 shelf rack, that has contemporary styling and is well made, this could work for you. It doesn't have a backing to hide cables, but it looks great regardless. Very solid and good looking!

I was looking for a quality stand with glass shelves for my home theater equipment. I needed something sturdy too since my receiver is 50+ lbs and the power amps that I have are 70 lbs each. This stand will hold 75 lbs per shelf, and the top shelf will hold twice that!

Very nice finish on the supports and the shelves are nicely beveled on the edges. Very classy looking.

I'm not sure how some people have had trouble putting this together. There are shelves, supports, trim rings, and two different size screws. Hard to get them mixed up. Some of the tolerances were a smidge off, but nothing that a little effort couldn't fix.

I actually needed more than the 4 shelves provide, so I contacted the manufacturer and asked if I could expand it by purchasing a second unit and combining them. To my delight - and surprise - they said, "Yes." They said that they do not sell shelves or supports separately, so buying a second unit is the only way. I am staying withing the limits of the single stand of 300 total lbs - which I am well below - just to be safe.

This stand has exceeded my expectations in every way. Quality construction, nice fit and finish, and VERY sturdy make for one nice stand. - Audio-video Shelving - Component Rack - Sturdy - Furniture'

Foot Pain Relief - heel pain, arch supports

I've got high arches and developed plantar fasciitis from overdoing it in my triathlon training. I tried a variety of products, but this was the one that worked. The reduction in pain is so significant it's almost too good to be true. I particularly like that this arch band has a low profile and unlike the bulky velcro one I tried, I can wear it with just about any shoes or sandals. It helps so much I'm buying another couple of them so they can rotate through the wash. PediFix Arch Bandage Support Problem Aches- 1 Pack

I have used this product for years and have recently found it very difficult to find in the local pharmacies. (???) I have some toe and arch problems, primarily in the right foot, and this product gives me good support when I tap. Over the years I've gone through many of these bandages, and am thrilled to have found a source. Thank you.

Jean Roach

After about 70 hours of usage in a total of six days, I start to notice that the product is losing it's elasticity. Can't imagine how it would be after few days!

I do recommend this product if you buy QTY 4 of it at least because other than the durability issue, I can't see another.

It realy works better than others I used in a short period.

I had been searching the Internet for something that would support my arch to either reduce or eliminate arch pain associated with plantar fasciitis. This did the trick. I put it on my foot, pull my socks over it, put on my shoes and I'm good for the rest of the day. The best part is that I no longer dread taking that first step out of bed in the morning because the arch pain is gone. Yay! - Arch Pain - Heel Pain - Arch Supports - Foot Pain Relief'

Nikon D3100 - photography, nikon d3100

Just bought a D7000 & ordered this video to help with figuring out all the bells & whistles. The description was for D3100, etc AND D7000 cameras. Cannot comment on the other cameras, however, this is not much help for D7000 owners. The buttons/commands are different enough to create confusion & frustration. Am attempting to return the video, it was a waste of money & time. Very disappointed with it, will resort to videos on YouTube which have turned out to be more helpful and educational. Would not recommend this video. Nikon School DVD - Fast, Fun, & Easy 5 for D3000, D3100, D5000 and D7000 Great Digital SLR Pictures & Movies

I was also disappointed with this video (actually there are 2 DVDs). I bought D3100 and although the videos cover some basic functions such as auto mode, child mode, portrait, ect., they quickly brush over more advanced options and does not describe half of the functions. I was hoping that after watching 2 DVD about my camera that I'll be comfortable with all bells and whistles that it has, but instead I've got 2 professional photographers telling me about the auto mode and how to turn the dial to all different modes that a 1st grader can figure out. - Nikon - Digital Slr - Photography - Nikon D3100'

Cast Aluminum - strathwood, patio furniture

Bought this table after a major wind/rain storm blew my glass one upside down and it broke in a million pieces. Figured all metal would be better, and also it has holes in it so the wind would pass right through and it would not be blown away. It was delivered within three days, but was missing the hardware. I called Amazon and was told they could not send me out "just the hardware," so they would have to send out a whole new table. They also said they would send a truck to pick up the first table. Sure enough, within three more days, the truck had come to pick up the first table, and I had the new one, with the hardware intact. My son put it together in less than 10 minutes. It is absolutely beautiful. Very strong and sturdy. I have received so many compliments on it. Glasses stand upright and do not tip over if place on the spaces, as the spaces are very small. The color is great, too. The chairs I have are still in very good condition, so I wanted to keep them, but was concerned because they are black wrought iron. Well, they blend in just fine with the brown table and do not clash. The brown is very dark. I would buy this table again, have no regrets about this purchase, or dealing with Amazon. They resolved my problem quickly and thoroughly. Absolutely satisfied with everything!!! Strathwood St. Thomas Cast Aluminum Round Dining Table

The reviews were half correct. Yes the table is very easy to assemble; yes the scroll work on the table is beautiful. However, where the reviews fall very short is the size of the table. There is no way that a 48" round table will seat 6 comfortably, let alone 8 cozy as the other review stated. A 48" round table is meant for 4 people. Also, it would be EXTREMELY helpful if Amazon posted the deminsions.

This is a great table. Amazon shipped it quickly and it was easy to put together. The scroll design is gorgeous. The color is a dark, bronze, brown with very small flecks of silver. The brown is dark enough that it coordinates with our black chairs. The size is generous and can comfortably seat up to six people. We are really enjoying our new patio table.

Although the Strathwood St. Thomas Cast Aluminum Round Dining Table is good looking and of good value for the price, I want to caution future buyers about purchasing anything beyond books and small items on Amazon. I was SHOCKED to see the feeble packing of a 52 pound heavy table. The box was crushed, there was no padding around the table top and it was wrapped in the cheapest paper--equivalent to tissue. When I asked Amazon to reimburse me for the damage, they only offered $20 and the business manager was RUDE. Beware of Amazon's shipping technique--that is the lack of it!

This product is a dark speckled brown, which is hard to see from the picture on the web, but which goes well with our adobe-colored house. The table is fairly light, making it easy to move. The feet are of adjustable height, which is welcome on our slightly uneven patio. I did have to push on a couple of parts to get them to line up during assembly - a couple of screw holes could have been a little better aligned - but I was able to assemble the table by myself with only basic tools. I recommend starting by screwing all the screws in halfway, and then adjusting from there. After half a year outside, there are no problems. The hole in the middle fit a standard-size outdoor umbrella we already had. The biggest plus was the price, only a fraction of the cost of other comparable patio tables I've seen. If you find cast-iron tables to be too heavy and expensive, this is certainly worth a look.

This set suddenly became unavailable just after we got ours which was a shame because a number of family and friends told me they went to look for it and it was no longer available. This set is awesome! The table and chairs are just a tad higher than usual and with tall people in my family, they are very impressed. The tables had to be assembled but were VERY easy to assemble. I put them together before my husband got home from work. They were all packaged beautifully! Delivery was quick and we are so glad we ordered when we did because, apparently, the set was very popular!

I am delighted with my Strathwood cast aluminum table !

I am also very satisfied with the excellant service that Amazon.com has provided with this order.

I had a minor problem and it was handeled with swift and fair resolve.

I had seen this table last year and loved it, but felt that I could not afford it.

I am glad that I didn't "settle" for something else

I live on a golf course, so the metal top is definitely what I need.

Besides being practical, it is beautiful, rich in styling, very elegant !

It arrived swiftly, in great condition and was simple for me to put together.

I am an elder, senior woman and I put it together, with no help, in less than two hours.

I would reccomend this product and Amazon's great service to anyone.

I just finished putting this table together. Took me just a few minutes. It's the perfect size for our deck and looks very lovely. It's sturdy and well made. I've paired it off with the matching Strathwood St. Thomas Swivel Dining Arm Chairs. Gorgeous and Classy.

really like the table, and for a great price. however, shipment did not come with hardware package (turns out it is only 16 bolts). tried for two weeks to contact Strathwood and the support vendor website that came with the matching chairs I purchased, but absolute radio silence. didn't want to return and luckily found assembly instructions .pdf on amazon. those instructions has spec's for the bolts, so went to hardware store and bought for $5 and got it together. Summary - great product for the price as long as you don't need any support.

I love the table including its looks, the craftsmanship, and functionality. The table came in a box with a hole that was taped up. The contents didn't include any hardware--just a small empty zip-lock bag. I tried to contact the manufacturer to get my hardware with no success. I could not let myself use resources to send back a 50 lb. package in order to get a few ounces of missing hardware, I got the necessary bits from my local Ace Hardware. I am not happy about the extra expense. In the future, I will be more cautious about ordering items that need assembling from Amazon. - Patio Furniture - Strathwood - Cast Aluminum - Dining Table'

This movie is weird and delightful and well worth watching.

I'll start with the caveats:

1. The first fifteen minutes or so are difficult. You don't like very many people at first, and it looks like it is going to be a much darker film than it turns out to be. Stick with it, I promise it is going to get better.

2. The portrayal of the Plymouth Brethren is a bit on the dour side- I'm not Brethren, but I can't imagine it's as bad as all that.

The rest of the movie is pitch perfect. The portrayal of a friendship between two young boys has rarely been better done. I was just a bit younger than the kids in this movie in the mid eighties, and spent that time bouncing back and forth between England and the US. This movie was a bit of a nostalgia trip. The pop rocks and soda scene? Remember when it was a school yard rumor that you could actually explode your head by doing that?

The music was great- the acting, remarkable- the writing, top notch.

This is a whole family movie that will appeal not only to kids and parents but also to any college aged kids that are into "art movies." This is indie film making at its best. Son of Rambow

One of the best movies of the year. Cute, very funny, a little sad, but most importantly, an absolute blast to watch. Reminds me why some of my favorite movies are forigen: Shawn of the Dead, Pans Lab... If you're into quirky, this is not only a must see, but a must own. 4 thumbs up!

I was a big fan of first-time filmmakers Hammer and Tongs' (Garth Jennings and Nick Goldsmith) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. While the duo had worked on music videos and other film projects before Hitchhiker's, this adaptation of the iconic sci-fi novel was their first feature film. It was surprising that they were given the keys to such a big project, one that had been in development for decades, but Hammer and Tongs handled the material quite admirably. In order to make Hitchhiker's Guide they had to put another film they were developing on hold. That project would eventually become their second feature film: Son of Rambow.

Son of Rambow tells the story of Will (Bill Milner), whose family is a part of a strict religious sect known as the Plymouth Brethren. Will has never watched TV, and even has to leave the classroom when they show a documentary at his school. That's how he meets Lee (Will Poulter), the class troublemaker. Will and Lee become best friends and, through Lee, Will gets his first taste of film in the form of Rambo: First Blood. Lee recruits Will to play a stunt man in a Rambo film he's creating to enter into Screen Test's Young Filmmaker's Competition.

Son of Rambow is, for the most part, a love song to film in general. In a way it kind of reminds me of Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind (a film I highly recommend), but there's a very important difference. Rambow will take you back to a time that you most likely will not remember: a time when movies were still magical. These days movies are so commonplace that we never truly get excited about what's on screen, and most of us don't know what it's like to see a movie for the first time. Through the eyes of Will we get to feel what that experience is like.

Rambow is also a coming-of-age story; a look back at a time when innocence is lost. At the beginning of the film, Will doesn't really know the difference between his world as a member of the Plymouth Brethren and the outside world, while Lee doesn't have the connection of a close friend, or really anyone for that matter. Throughout the course of the film we watch as the connection between the two boys develops and takes each of them on a voyage of discovery. Son of Rambow is really a brilliant look back at what it's like to be a kid, allowing you to feel the joys and the pains of early adolescence.

If you haven't seen Son of Rambow, watch it today! It's really amazing how the film allows you to experience what these characters feel and see. You'll feel like a kid again, seeing film through new eyes and re-experiencing childhood. If you want to check out a not-so-jaded look at love of cinema be sure to give this a try. If anything the screening of the actual Son of Rambow film in the final act will bring a smile to your face and maybe even a tear to your eyes.

An English movie with an American tie-in, Son of Rambow feels like a John Hughes movie for upper-grade schoolers. This one does it all: coming of age, geek vs. thug become friends, funny sub-plots, touching thematics, etc. But it does it all with such a big, sincere heart; Son of Rambow is beyond charming. It is truly a must-see father-and-son film that entertains and tugs heartstrings with a perfect balance and much creativity. Not to mention, the references through out the film to 'First Blood' are simply hilarious. The only warning I have for viewers: danger - your kids may want to see the real 'Rambo' after viewing!

I loved Son of Rambow on Blu-ray

after watching Son of Rambow on TV, I had to have it

the movie is one of the best I've seen, and it holds a special meaning to me

it reminds me so much of my own childhood, the events are different

but the friendships are the same, even the blood brother part is the same

the Blu-ray is packed with lots of extras, including the Making of Son of Rambow

this is a great movie that's will touch your heart, it's strong in values and friendships

Dave

When I saw the first trailers for Son of Rambow, I couldn't wait to see it. Unfortunately Portland never gets these limited releases, so I was forced to await the eventual DVD release. Now that the DVD is out and I've digested the movie, I've come away with some more mixed feelings than I anticipated.

Don't get me wrong: Son of Rambow is a fantastic movie. For the right crowd. Centering around two young lads with a desire to remake the Stallone classic themselves, the movie has an unquestionable charm and presence which will make any audience go "Awwww!" in appreciation. Unfortunately, outside of the charm a good majority of the humor and connectedness with the characters is achieved only by two audiences: men old enough to remember when Rambo came out, and children young enough to relate to the two protagonists, Will and Lee.

For the rest of us, the movie is an entertaining ride with a fresh outlook on friendship and a nice heartwarming attitude, but not quite the comedy juggernaut one might suppose from the pre-release trailers.

Even for the 15-25 crowd, however, Son of Rambow is still a good, solid film if you're willing to see it for what it is. Like Bridge to Terabithia, Son of Rambow mixes several genres and morality lessons together throughout the entertainment. (Although there's nothing quite as sad as the twist in Bridge...) It has surprisingly deep messages for a movie about two younger boys, which completely go against the shallow appearance on the surface.

While it's obviously a tale of friendship, the lessons under the skin of the movie are relevant for all ages and people, regardless of time, locale, or culture. And while those in the 15-25 crowd may not have as many laughs as the younger or older audiences, there's still no denying the fact that Son of Rambow offers an invigorating reminder of the power of imagination, and the challenges of growing up.

Content - 3.5/5

What you get out of Son of Rambow depends entirely on who you are, and how close you are to the culture/age of the two protagonists. The 15-25 crowd may see a heartwarming tale of friendship with some underlying lessons, while an older and younger crowd will f ind much more laughs. No matter which grouping you belong to, expect a unique movie with a refreshing take on friendship, and two very promising young actors.

Video - 3/5

I can't tell if I'm spoiled by Blu-Ray or not, but the colors seem to reflect more of the amateur nature of the kids' film and less of a real modern movie. While it certainly adds to the effect, it takes away slightly more than it gives, drawing you out of the moment from time to time.

Audio - 4/5

While there's 5.1 audio and some nice post production present, many of the sound effects rely too heavily on the front speakers, creating an overbalanced feel. The dialogue and other audio factors are all spot-on, but the front-heavy sfx can also draw you out of the moment if you're utilizing 5.1 speakers (or a 5.1 headset) while watching.

Replay - 4.5/5

It's one of those movies you could watch time and time again with new people. The humor may get old and lose "the funny" after a few watchings, but the core tale is more than enough to ensure that this will be a cult classic for many years, and a favorite of many young boys and teens to come.

Overall - 4/5

Watching Son of Rambow is like playing darts on a jumbo sized target. No matter where you throw the dart you're going to hit the board, but some people are going to be much closer to the bullseye than others. The humor and amount of funny moments in the movie directly relates to your age and gender, but no matter which gender you are and when you were born, the tale of friendship, growing up, and the overpowering effect of a youth's imagination offers something anyone can relate to.'
