Monitor Cable - audio cable, monitor cables

The VGA cable with Audio was bought as a gift for my aunt who has only 20% vision in one eye (none in the other). The cable was used to hook her ancient computer (1998 w/ Windows XP) to her new HDTV. She is extremely pleased with the oversized TV as a monitor; she sits 5 feet away to see.

The fifteen feet length allowed the CPU to be placed farther from the TV. Premium VGA/SVGA/XGA/SXGA/UXGA HD15 Monitor Projector Cable with 3.5mm Audio - 15 ft. Laptop/PC to TV

The cable arrived in a few days and in excellent condition. I use the cable to connect my laptop to my Sony XBR7 LCD TV so that I can watch blueray movies. The picture and audio transfer to the TV with great quality and I am very happy with this product.

For the price, this is a fine deal. I've had no trouble with the cable as of yet. It's long enough to allow me to sit on the couch with my laptop and have it connected to the TV that's several feet away. Highly recommended!

Overall it is ok. But it has a few issues.

1. Recognition: My Dell desktop recognize it. But MacBook Pro does not recognize it when I connect it to Samsung 46-inch TV

2. Resolution: Maximum resolution between my Dell desktop and Samsung 46-inch TV is 1600x1200. It should be 1920X1080.

Pros: Plenty of length. If you have a TV of any size, don't discount the length you'll need. Video quality is excellent. Watched a game on ESPN3 from using my laptop to push the game to my 46" LCD. Looked as good or maybe even slightly better than standard definition from my satellite (obviously not as good as high def).

Cons: Length of audio cord only about 18" or so on each end. Wouldn't to the input on my home theater, so I had to improvise. Good that it's there, but consider the distance you need.

Would definitely buy another if I need one. Very satisfied.

I have a Y-splitter on my computer. From there one cable goes to my monitor and the other one is connected to my 26" LCD via this cable. Picture quality & sound are very good. I am happy with it so far and for my purposes the cable is long enough too with room to spare.

I bought 2. I can get neither to work. I bought them to use my HDTV as a monitor for my laptops. Neither worked on either laptop. Must be too long because I have used shorter cables successfully. The TV doesn't recognize any input through these cables. My advice, don't waste your money to buy these cables.

Cables function to trasport signal from point A to point B. However, this cable has a short audio connector - 12 inches long. With the audio out plug on the front of many computers, and the video on the side or back, the audio cable does not reach. (Or the video does not reach, you choose). Either way, video AND audio cannot be transported so it is unusable for it's purposes with many computers.

I bought another cable that has a 24 inch audio end, and it is usable in almost any situation. Check it out:

Lens Cleaner - photography, cleaner

If you haven't used a lens pen, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised -- it works well. The description doesn't make it very clear that this product has TWO different cleaning tools, one at each end. The brush, which retracts, is to take off dust particles. Hidden in the other end is a soft pad with a cleaning agent to remove fingerprints and more serious dirt, hopefully without damaging the anti-reflection coating on your lens.

My only reservation is that this particular "Cleaning System" is a bit overpriced (at the time I wrote this review, Amazon was selling it for about $21). Essentially identical double-ended Lens Pens without the Nikon name attached cost $8-$10 from many sources, including Amazon (search "Lens Pen"), so you're paying quite a lot to impress your friends ;-)

One more thought: another reviewer mentioned cleaning his lens daily with this product. That's not such a great idea. Camera lenses, and especially their anti-reflection coatings, are quite fragile. The more often you clean your lens, the more likely you'll damage the coating, or even scratch the lens due to a small dirt particle on the cleaning pad (likewise, NEVER clean a lens with bathroom tissues, since they contain tiny, hard wood chips).

The fact is, a moderate amount of dust and dirt on your lens does NOT affect the pictures you take, since anything that close to the lens is so out of focus.

PS -- Here's an update: I just got an Adorama Camera catalog that lists this lens pen, WITH the Nikon name, for $6.50! Imagine that. Nikon 7072 Lens Pen Cleaning System

does exactly what it's supposed to, and does it well.

to use:

1. with one end, extend the brush, and wipe debris away.

2. twist the cap on the other end, and take it off. with that end, wipe in a circular motion, and smudges get polished away.

This is a easy to use lens cleaning device.

You use the bush end to remove any debris from the lens, and the pad end to remove fingerprints and the like.

The bush is retractable and soft enough not to damage lenses.

The pad is treated (coated) in such a way as to remove fingerprints without leaving smudges.

I have had excellent results using the Nikon Lens Pen on my Sony DSC F-828 digital camera. However it is important to note that the pad end is much too big to use on the electronic viewfinder (or anything else less than about a half an inch in diameter).

The Nikon Lens Pen appears to be identical to many other LensPens out there (they all seem to be identical except for branding and coloration). Perhaps they are all manufactured by one company (perhaps other than Nikon)?

For the price, the tool is not bad. The brush works well around the edges of the lens, but take care not to touch it as, even clean hands, will leave a bit of grease on the brush and it does smear the lens. I'm not entirely impressed by the round tip 'polishing' tool. I ordered 2 of these pens and 2 'Lenspens' (by the way - they are absolutely identical and I'm sure they come from the same factory, just with different brands - don't be fooled by the price difference). So far I used one Nikon pen and one Lenspen and both left a bit of 'ghost-smearmarks' on my lenses - not impressive at all. After using the pens I always have to give the lenses a wipe with a cleaning cloth also.

I would approve the use of this tool though, as there is no other way to safely get into the tight corners of the lens area (not with a cloth anyway), and also on the sensor side of the lens where you have even less space to work, this does come in handy.

As closing remark - I will not get anywhere close to a sensor with this pen. It is not being sold as a sensor cleaner, but just in case you were wondering...

Of course, this is not world's the most sophisticated lens cleaning system. However, it is one very handy package that takes very little room in your bag and works with reliable and predictable results. I would not use this pen to clean lens that was subjected to what would be considered heavy levels of dirt, but it works well, cleaning those occasional smudges that you get on the lens when a 3-year old decides to touch lens with his finger or a droplet of water dries on the lens.

As an eyeglasses wearer and photographer, clean and scratch free lenses is important to me. This tool sweeps away scratch making surface debris with the soft brush on one end and then polishes away smudges with a suction-cup-like device on the other. I have no idea (nor do I need to know) how this thing works but I know it does.

Hasn't scratched yet - and it's dirt cheap.

This low-priced pen cleaning kit from Nikon is a must-have. I was surprised that it costs less than non-Nikon cleaning pens that do exactly the same.

One end of the pen has a soft brush which is retractable. It's perfect for brushing away dust on the lens. The other end is a cleaning pad, which is used to remove fingerprints and particles that get stuck on the lens. Because this product is small, it doesn't take up any space in the camera bag. It's also very convenient to use.

Of course, if your lens surface is really dirty, you should get a complete cleaning system including lens-friendly cleaning solution and soft tissue paper. - Nikon - Cleaner - Photography - Lens Pen'

Lens Cover - lens cap, photography

I purchased three different inexpensive 58mm caps from Amazon at the same time: (1) this cap, (2) the Zeikos ZE-LC58 58mm Plastic Snap On Lens Cap (Black), and (3) the 58mm Snap-On Universal Lens Cap. All arrived relatively quickly, but this took a few more days than the other two.

Note that the picture shown with this listing is slightly misleading. The tether with this cap is not connected to an outside loop, at least not in the copy sent me. Instead it connects through holes in the cap as in the slightly less expensive "58mm Snap-on Universal Lens Cap" mentioned here. This makes it more difficult to connect, see below.

This lens cap, although a little thicker than a flexible press-on, works well with my Olympus 58mm filter-size lenses. It has a larger gripping surface than the default Olympus caps provided with their lenses, and so stays in place. The clamping mechanism has more travel than the Olympus caps and so is slightly easier to install and remove. The cap and its clamp appear well constructed and should be long lasting.

This and the, "58mm Snap-on Universal Lens Cap" by Generic which, at the time of this review, was somewhat less expensive, have similar functionality and both include a tether. However, the clamping mechanism on the "Universal Cap" is slightly harder to squeeze than on the cap reviewed here.

Two minor issues: (1) it is somewhat difficult to install the tether, as others have also noted, and which unfortunately does not come installed as it does on the "Universal Cap" (2) as the tether is made of string, it can occasionally catch under the clamping mechanism if its not free to hang.

I would rate this cap equal in ease of use to the Zeikos cap. That cap is slightly less expensive, at the time of this review with Amazon Prime shipping, but does not include a tether. If you don't need a tether, the Zeikos cap is a good choice, but if you do this Fotodiox cap is highly recommended.

Bottom Line: Nice lens cap, I would definitely buy again if needed. This cap has sturdy grip and long enough tether to work with 58mm filter-size telephotos. Just remember that this cap stays with the camera not with the lens. Thus, it's advisable to leave an extra 58mm cap in your camera bag for those times you remove a 58mm filter-size lens for one with a different filter-size thread. Fotodiox Inner pinch Lens Cap, Lens Cover with Cap Keeper, 58mm

Great product for price. Be sure to request correct mm size.

Cap fits snuggly and pincher works well. Like the tie knot rather than a suction cap holder; the string plenty long enough to attach to camera neck strap. I bought several for different lenses and pleased with all of them.

Lost my Canon cap within a couple weeks of getting the camera. These are great replacements. In fact, bought an extra to replace the Canon cap on another lens. Fits perfectly....easy on and off. Have to line it up carefully if you have a UV or polarizer lens, but not that hard. The string attaches nicely to neck strap. Do I look like a dork with this swinging off my neck strap....maybe. Do I care.....no.

For those of us who do not want a lens cap hanging from our camera, lens caps have a way of getting lost sooner or later. So when you order, take advantage of the great price--compared to caps from other suppliers/sources--and buy extra.

This is a well made cap, lacking only the name of the camera maker that is on the caps for which you pay $5 or more.

I am very impressed with Fotodiox as a maker/supplier of camera accessories. I have hoods for two lenses and these caps, all well made and sold for a fraction of the price charged by Canon and other suppliers.

If you have a hood on your lens, this is the type cap you will need since you can open it by reaching inside the hood and squeezing.

Some reviews speak of problems attaching the restraining string. Apparently if this was a problem it has been corrected because all the caps I ordered came with a string and a "eye" on the side of the cap to attach it to. I don't use the string, but for those who want it, it is there.

I ordered three 58mm and one 52mm inner pinch lens caps with cap keepers. While the lens caps attach to the lenses as advertised, there is no loop to attach the keeper string to the cap as indicated in the picture. Instead, I had to spend considerable time stuffing the string through the poorly designed thin slots in the sides of the caps with a bent paper clip. I also assumed that there would be a sliding sleeve on the cord with which to tighten the loop around the lens body instead of just a piece of plain, non-elastic, string. To complete the set, I've had to separately order four elastic cap keepers. As reported by another reviewer, these work fine if they are helped by a drop of super glue to strengthen the adhesive. - Camera Lens Cover - Lens Cap - 58mm - Photography'

Indoor Grill - cuisinart, griddle

I got lucky,I found one at walmart for $22,on clearance. I love it,the black model looks great. It big enough to cook four beef patties,at once. It comes with four raiser attachments for the legs,so you can push taco meat into a taco shell, strait from the grill.

I love my grill. I use it almost every friday when I don't want to cook. I grill the burger, the buns, onions, tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers. This is a great product. Easy clean up. No hassles. I can't wait to grill salmon and chicken on it.

This grill is great for doing quick dinners, I cook veggies and tilapia or chicken breast in 12 minutes tops! It's also helping me lose eight. I'm buying one to keep at work and save lots of money on lunches and eat more healthy...

We bought this as roommates for our friend getting married. A George (as we call it) is the best kitchen appliance for a single person or a young couple. It cooks everything faster and even makes vegetables taste good! You want a George in your kitchen. I know it.

This'll make a couple of hamburgers, a couple of chicken legs or two standard-sized sandwiches (which is English for panini) at the same time. With the adjustable lid set up, it'll make open-faced sandwiches. It's not so great at grilling steaks (the upper element doesn't get hot enough) but for a quick burger, it can't be beat. The non-stick surface is a treat (try to clean it before it cools all the way; it's a little easier that way).

I made burgers on my 'George' last night and they were fabulous-totally non-greasy, delicious grilled flavor, and were done in no time at all. Am totally LOVIN IT!! My mom saw me using it last night and was pretty impressed with it too. - Griddler - Electric Grill - Cuisinart - Griddle'

Shoot Digital Cameras

I decided on the Canon A495 as I wanted an inexpensive camera to carry around in my purse for unexpected shots. This is a good camera for beginners - it's not DSLR quality but it's easy to learn and use; it's not my camera of choice for my shots that I want to look really professional, my Panasonic camera is for those...but for those of you who just want a good basic camera from a well-known camera company, this one should fit your needs well.

Are you trying to decide between the A495 and the next model lower, the A490? Here are the differences:

· The A495 has a Face Self-Timer feature. You can focus on a group of people, and before the camera takes the shot, run over and get into the picture yourself, with your face being detected, too. Of course, you would also need a tripod or a place to set the camera down.

· The A495 has two (2) additional Scene Modes: Poster Effect and Super Vivid Color. Nice to have the additional scenes, but how often will you use them? I plan on making some art for my living room walls with the Poster Effect scene, so I opted for the A495.

· The A495 will focus on up to 9 faces (or areas); whereas the A490 will focus on up to 5 faces (or areas).

You have to decide for yourself if you would be using any of these additional features to save yourself a few dollars by going with the A490 instead of the A495.

PROS:

· Easy to use straight out of the box - I didn't need to read the manual to start out, but I recommend reading it to learn about all the features

· Fairly durable, even though it's made of plastic

· Powers up ready to take a picture in about a second

· 2.5" LCD screen is large enough to see clearly

· Takes great close-up (macro) shots

· Program mode lets you change some settings like exposure compensation, ISO, continuous shooting, metering mode, etc.

· Larger than an ultra-compact camera, so it's easier to grip and avoid dropping

· Uses AA batteries, and I'm surprised I got over 400 shots from my rechargeable batteries (the alkaline AA batteries included did not last long) - so I recommend rechargeables

· Takes surprisingly good video with sound (not HD) and can be directly uploaded to YouTube (this is part of the included software)

· The ZoomBrowser photo editing software has always been a favorite of mine, I use it with all my cameras, no matter what brand they are. I like this more than Picasa.

CONS:

· Recovery time after taking a picture is SLOW, and even worse if using the flash (approximately 3 seconds w/flash) - this is normal with a camera that uses two AA batteries. It's still better than the Nikon L20, though.

· No optical image stabilization - but this is rare in any camera at this price point

· No optical viewfinder - again, hard to find now in any camera, but if you want one, check out this Canon: Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver)

· Battery door is flimsy, I have to be careful when closing it so the hinge doesn't break, and if not careful, the batteries fall out when removing the SD card

· Slightly on the bulky side, won't fit easily in a shirt pocket, should be OK in a pants pocket

I would have given this camera 5 stars if it wasn't so darn slow on the recycling time after taking a photo. It flashes "busy" on the LCD screen and it is frustrating when you are waiting to take another shot.

NOTE #1: This camera does not come with an SD card, so pick one up when buying the camera as you will not be able to use it right out of the box otherwise. This camera will accept SDHC cards up to/including 32 GB.

NOTE #2: The PSC-500 genuine Canon case Canon PSC-500 Deluxe Soft Case fits this camera perfectly, but there is no extra room for spare batteries. It's a snug fit, but it's well padded too.

NOTE #3: For those of you looking for a camera that can put a date stamp on your pictures, this one does. You have your choice of date only or date and time - or none at all. Canon PowerShot A495 10.0 MP Digital Camera with 3.3x Optical Zoom and 2.5-Inch LCD (Silver)

The overall quality of this camera is good, however, I have had nothing but frustration since I began using this. First of all, with nearly every picture that you take using the flash, following the actual picture taking, the LCD display goes black for several seconds and gives you a message that it is charging the flash.

Second, the camera will take its time focusing in and finding the right levels of focus and clarity for the picture that you are trying to take. When it does allow you to take your photo, a review of the photo on both the LCD and later on a PC will often reveal that the picture you just took is blurry and out of focus.

In conclusion, this camera is too much high maintenance for a simple point-and-shoot camera. I have two small kids, and when I want to catch them at a particular moment to take a picture, every second is essential. Between waiting for the flash to charge and then the camera to focus, and then followed by pictures that come out with little quality, the money spent on this camera is not an investment in memories as it should be, but rather an investment in frustration.

Upconverting Dvd Player - blu-ray, lg

I am a hardcore geek and have also worked in the streaming video industry the past 4 years. So you may be surprised to hear that this is the first BD player I ever own. I've tested plenty of BD, DVD, streaming boxes, so I know all their strengths and weaknesses.

I waited till now because the early generation of BD players are underpowered (that's why people complained about slow startup, slow to load BD, sluggish menu/UI, etc.). Knowing the performance of that generation, plus having tested the up-n-coming ones, I waited for something that is worth spending money on.

I almost bought the LG BD-390, but that was still too expensive. So I waited for the next gen after, which is the LG BD-5XX series. Since I have wired ethernet to where my entertainment console is, I pick the BD-550. For streaming video, I never want wireless (attested by people commenting on quality, stutters, delays and re-buffering). If I absolutely had to go wireless, I would use 802.11N (not G) and one that supports the 5Ghz band. But that is another topic.

The 550 does everything I need and want. Fast CPU, boot up less than 10s, load BD in about same amount of time (except for a few that has BD-Live and more complicated content). Btw, to use BD-Live, you will need to plug in a USB flash stick (I use a 4GB USB flash, one of those tiny one. Make sure it is formatted as FAT or FAT32.).

Netflix - good UI, fast (I have 25Mb down/10Mb up). So no problem streaming HD. Netflix requires 3.6Mb down for HD. Nice thing about Netflix is that it dynamically adjust quality so you can actually watch the movie. That does mean you won't always get HD if your internet connection is not reliable, e.g. you are using wireless (see why I stick with wired?) Also love the 550 ability to let me view Netflix movie menu and add movies direct on the player (you don't need to go to a computer to add movies to your Instant Queue! This is an awesome feature on the LG BD!

VUDU - good UI, sluggish, there is a lag between pressing buttons and getting results. I kept overshooting or getting wrong choice because of this. Different selection of movies, cost more if I watch a lot of movies (pay each time). So depending on your watching pattern, could be expensive.

Pandora - good, although I don't want to turn on my TV just to listen to music. That's what my stereo is for.

Youtube - good, fun for times when you have parties. Pain having to enter URL via the remote. Wish I can connect a real USB keyboard and use that.

I think the 550 is a bargain for the price. Very happy with it. Stay away from the 3D BD players and TVs. Bleeding edge stuffs, wait at least a year for that to settle before wasting your money.

Last but not least. Make sure you update the firmware! And check regularly. They fix various issues and add new features. I updated twice within the first day of opening the box. LG BD550 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

Recently I have tried four BD players which have Netflix streaming capability. LG BD370, Samsung BD P-1600, Sony BDP N460, and LG BD 550. Earlier I also tried Roku HD player for netflix streaming. Except Roku, all the BD players I tried all use wired Ethernet, no wireless.

(I have wired Ethernet in my house so I don't need wireless network.)

I could tell you guys: LG BD 550 is by far the best when it comes to Netflix streaming. I ended up returning all the others. BD550's Fast forwarding, fast rewinding is just way faster than any other unit I tried. It is even faster than Roku! Among these units, Samsung BD P1600 is the slowest. Also BD 550 not only shows your movies in the netflix instant queue, it also gives you option to pick movie you may like, what you've recently watched (even after you removed it from your instant queue), new arrivals, etc. It's just a perfect Netflix player. If you like Netflix's GUI interface, then just don't buy Sony N460! Sony completely screwed Netflix's GUI but Sony's GUI is just too awkward.

For other streaming sources, BD550 has Vudu, Roxio CinemaNow, Youtube and Picasa. Among all the units I tried, this is the only unit that has Vudu. Its Youtube and Picasa application UI and load speed is just awesome. I am so happy I finally find one netflix streaming device that works well.

As for BD player performance. Be honest, I really can't see much difference in terms of image quality.

============================

If you didn't get a chance to try other players, let me remind you that all of them are SLOOOOOOW in loading BD disc. As for Blu-ray playback video quality, actually to me as a normal user, they all perform similarly well. For loading speed, I am not sure if it is because the players all try to contact Internet first before playing (BD link) but I feel it is just way too slow than DVD. Since I found none of them outperform each other significantly, I landed on this LG BD550 becoz of its streaming speed and ease of use in GUI. - Lg - Blu-ray - Netflix - Streaming'

Itouch Accessories - armband, ipod armband

I've had this product for about 2 months now. I initially berated this product on comfort and inconvenience. However, I am revising my recommendation. The pros; Does keep the iPhone secure and dust-free while running and in gym. You can still access the touch panel but not the volume controls while wearing. Makes the heavy iphone lighter weight. The Cons (the reason for 3 stars) is mainly due to the very short armband strap. I suggest this product for kids our people with relatively skinny arms. Otherwise, you'll get frustrated trying to put it on and it will give you a feeling of your blood pressure being taken. Overall, I would recommend this product but haven't tried others to know if there are better. iLuv iCC212 Armband Case with Glow-in-the-Dark Frame for iPhone 4 and 3G/3GS

Great Product, it is exactly the way it is advertised. The only thing I would change is that it fits a little tight on the bicep area. Other than That it is great, it holds my Ipod secure and it does not slide down when Im running or working out.

My iPhone 4 fits just fine inside the case and using the controls for it are also not a problem. However, the armband is just too small. I'm an average size guy and I could barely fit it over my bicep. Wearing it over a sweatshirt is out of the question. This product would be much better for a much thinner customer.

I first have to say that I bought this from another store and payed way to much for it. I should have bought it from Amazon. I am a 6'2" guy with an athletic build. At first I had concerns about it fitting because out of the package it is pretty small, but after stretching the elastic before use I was just fine. It is made to be able to fit a large range of people.I works out well for me.

This armband fell apart. There really isn't much else to say. The Velcro attachment strips came undone in several places, tearing the stretchy band underneath. The plastic screen came undone in opposite corners and now I'm afraid that my iPod will fall out while i'm running. Do yourself a favor and buy something more durable.

Great product, fits secure on the arm. I have an IPhone 4 which I have to take my usual case off in order to put the phone in the ILuv case. I only warn that the arm band length is not very long, it is only 15 1/4 inches across which doesn't leave a lot of slack left to Velcro the strap if you have medium to large arms.

The band is durable and at a great price point, mine works well with and without a case on my iPhone 4. Although the length of the band should be longer for people with bigger arms it still works, just difficult to keep the velcro on securley while exercising. - Running - Armband - Ipod Armband - Itouch Accessories'

This review was originally written for the SNK803K2. The only difference is the color of the dial. But I bought this on too.

For me this watch is fantastic. If you know auto-winds (automatics), then you know their little idiosyncrasies. So let's start there...

Timing:

It's not a chronometer, it does gain (or lose) more than 0.5 seconds/day. In fact, on some days it seems to gain as much as a minute. Gaining time seems to be a common observation with other owners and reviewers. My guess is that it is "set fast" at the factory, with the idea that "if we can't get it perfect out of the box, then it's better to be early than be late." For this, you could probably go down to your local watch repair and get the timing set. Having said that, My watch normally runs about a minute fast over the course of a month and that doesn't bother me. In fact, true to all automatics, it gains and loses a little time each day or so and it is generally the same "one minute" ahead of the current time for several months.

Quality:

The watch is obvious quality. Seiko is quality and they obviously get a great job on this one too. It's quite rugged. I regularly ride a both a mountain bike and road bike to work, which is 12 miles in one direction. The watch take a vibrational beating, but never really misses a beat (outside of the range mentioned in the previous paragraph).

Looks:

I wasn't keen on the style of the band that came with the watch, although it is tough and will probably never come apart. I went a got a leather band, and this thing is beautiful. No kidding, totally styling.

Trivia:

The numbers on the watch dial are definitely unique: minutes on the outside; hours on the inside... Okay - but is a great way to help little kids to tell analog time, "The little hand tells you the hours and the big hand tells you the minutes." Was it planned?

Recommendations:

I went out and got two more. Another for myself, with a green dial (that my oldest son commandeered) and another with a blue dial for my daughter in the Coast Guard. I was able to spend $64 a piece for these, so really, I think they were a great deal.

I have an older, beautiful Omega Deville that I wear when the occasion arises, but to tell you the truth, I end up feeling just a little guilty leaving this watch behind for some event, when it really is my trusted time piece.

However, after this... An Omega Planet Ocean. Seiko Men's SNK805K2 Automatic Green Dial Green Fabric Strap Watch

Just got mine a week ago and I love it. A lot of people say the band looks cheap but I think it's in comparison to the watch. The band looks like it would be on a 80 dollar watch and the watch looks like a 200$ watch. The band is a little too glossy but all the hardware on the band looks great. I have a thin wrist cause I'm 6'4 and lanky and I think the watch is a perfect size. New watches are huge but that's trendy. If I still have this watch in 20 years it will still look great what about those giant things. It looses 4 seconds a day and once every couple weeks I don't wear it long enough and it dies so I reset it to the atomic clock and all is groovy. I like doing that it makes it almost like a pet I have to care for and gives me a more of a sense of contact with it than one would have with perfect items that never give you any trouble. It's like an old Volkswagen you feel more connected cause you have to adjust the valves not just change the oil. It really feels like a quality item and has a decent heft to it but not too much, just enough to know it's built well. I also wear a Wenger Swiss army but I like the look and feel of this better. It's a work watch and cheap enough that if I break it in a year I will just buy another one. I may buy another one just to throw a better band on it for a dress casual watch. I work as a bellhop and it's common for me to have 50 pounds of crap hanging of my hand and wrist and it holds up to it. I'm constantly banging it into things and its fine. I decided to wear a cheap timex digital for a while to save my good watches but the band broke within a month and I decided I'm an adult and vain so I needed an analog that looks good. I hope it will last at least a couple years and think it will. People constantly compliment me on it. I've bought 50 things online and have liked half of them a lot loved about 5 of them and this is the first one I had to review.

The bezel is a classic size, not like the many gaudy over-sized bezels that are being churned out by every watch company these days. It's not tiny as suggested by some other reviewers, i'd say it's about the size of your average Timex Iron-man digital watch. It's thickness makes up for the smaller bezel diameter. I would sorta understand the size complaints if it were small and thin, but it's sits on the wrist with ample thickness to convey that it is indeed a mans timepiece. Not dainty by any means.

The green face is very unique yet understated. There is the option to view the day in English or French. So far it keeps very accurate time, I've only owned it for a few days so i'll update this review if anything changes. The watch is very light and comfortable to wear. Overall, i'd say you can't go wrong with this one in any color.

Days after buying this watch, one of the pins holding the hasp of the band popped off --- not necessarily a problem, unless you're in the process of opening a car door to re-shut it tight while driving. Needless to say, I watched helplessly as the watch bounced down the median of the road for several yards while I muscled the car to a stop on the shoulder. After scooping up the watch while dodging traffic, I see that the watch itself didn't miss a beat, a few shallow scratches on the bezel edges, but otherwise in fine shape. However, the hasp of the band went missing, and I immediately replaced the band with something more sturdy and appealing. So thumbs up on this great value watch, and hisses for the cheap pins used on the otherwise basic but serviceable band. All in all, still a worthy purchase for the watch alone, but a couple of better quality pins could have earned another star for outstanding value. - Military Watch - Mens Watch - Automatic Movement - Seiko 5'

2 Gb Sd Card - 2 gb sd card, adapter

I have been using this SD card for a GBA cart i have that takes Mini-SD's

which are a little more expensive so i decided to go with this card since it came with the adapters i needed

And all i can say is this is way better than the 1Gig San Disk Mini-Sd I have (not just in size but specs) that i got from walmart that was a little more expensive (like $3-4 more)

Size 2,012,000,000

Actual Size 1.87 GB (Storage Size)

Benchmarks from this card

Quick Bench (8M Zones) Using USB 1.1

Random Access: 1.1ms

CPU Utilization: 20% +/- 2%

Average Read 16.4 MB/s

Long Bench (32M Zones) Using USB 1.1

Random Access: 1.1ms

CPU Utilization: 24% +/- 2%

Average Read 16.4 MB/s Kingston 2 GB microSD Flash Memory Card with SD and miniSD Adapters SDC/2GB-2ADP

Over the last couple of months I've order two of these. The first came with the storage case shown in the customer picture, very cool, however the second had no storage case. If you need the case, you might want to consider buying locally. Amazon should consider, in the interest of customer service, a separate listing for the caseless version so customers know exactly what they will or will not get. No complaints about Kingston's cards, however. Great product!

Kingston 2 GB microSD Flash Memory Card with SD and miniSD Adapters SDC/2GB-2ADP

I'm happy with the Kingston cards themselves, but unhappy with the bait-and-switch tactics of Amazon in the way the visually present to the public what they are selling. The pictures clearly show a hard-shell case to keep all of the SD cards and adapters in (important if you have a few of these to be sure not to lose any). What I received was a simple package that just held the cards and no plastic case to store the cards and adapters in. Tried calling Amazon as soon as I received them, was told they would look into this and call/email me back but I to this date have not heard from anyone. This package that I received is definitely a cut-down version of the product, less quality than what I was made to feel I would be buying by the image presented to this day on the website. If this is the way Amazon is going to handle customer and selling their products, advertising a higher quality product and shipping a lower quality product, then they have seen the last business from me for sure!!!

My wife purchased two of these for me as a gift, and they worked fine. A few weeks later, I ordered three more myself, also from Amazon, the identical item, but they did NOT work. The two that worked were marked "CHINA" and the three that did not work were marked "TAIWAN" and the plastic was a slightly lighter color. I don't know how to tell in advance which you're getting. Note my application is specialized, booting embedded Linux in a Zipit Z2. Most people may never know the difference because both varieties seem to read and write normally; the only problem was system bootup.

Update Jan.25 2011: The "Taiwan" card had about 4% less memory, but passed a complete memory test cycle and was actually slightly faster.

Kingston 2GB SD card stats from WinXP properties:

"China" Capacity: 1,973,059,584 bytes 1.83 GB (FAT, after format)

"Taiwan" Capacity: 1,898,708,992 bytes 1.76 GB (FAT, after format)

"China": Write: 8.80 MByte/s Read: 16.7 MByte/s

"Taiwan": Write: 9.92 MByte/s Read: 16.9 MByte/s

(using IOGEAR GFR209T USB Reader; H2testw v1.4 flash test by Harald Bögeholz - No errors)

This will be short and to the point.

I read the reviews when I needed a Micro SD card for my Blackberry.

This one fit the bill in terms of cost and features (why anyone buys this kind of accessory at Big Box Yellow and Blue store and spends twice as much I'll never understand).

Got it shipped quickly, came with the adapters. Can't remember the packaging but really, who cares as long as the card works!

And work it does. I installed it and formatted it on my Blackberry 8310 Curve - No issues whatsoever. Loaded up a bunch of pictures and music very easily.

I've recently had to sell the Curve (my company prefers having us waste time with Windows Mobile phones) but I removed the SD card and am using it for other toys (camera) with no problems.

It has been surpassed in capacity with HC cards now, but 2 GB is still a lot of storage.

BOTTOM LINE: Can't beat the price and features - (buy enough from Amazon bundled with other items and get free shipping).

I bought these on an Amazon sale when they were offered with Prime shipping. My primary interest, frankly, was the plastic case and the adapters. I have several devices that use MicroSD cards and It is often preferable to just plug the card into my laptop rather than use a USB cable connected to the device.

A 2GB card is no great shakes these days. (I have a 32GB MicroSD in my smartphone.) Kingston is good brand, in my opinion, and the 2GB cad worked in a laptop computer and SanDisk MP3 player. No complaints there.

The adapters are well made and, like so many other adapters, will probably be misplaced or lost in the not distant future.

I am disappointed that the plastic case shown in the illustration is not included, so I knock two stars off the review for that misrepresentation.

Hp Photosmart C6380 - photosmart c6380, hp 564xl

Presently it is wise to contact the seller to be sure WHICH 564XL Black (not photo black) cartridge that he actually sells. The Amazon web pages for this product may show the wrong HP part number. I received the present replacement part in May 2011, a few months ago I got the earlier part.

This particular web page shows a picture of what is more likely the old 564XL Black ink cartridge - because the package seems to show "3X the pages" but has the data indicating the new 564XL Black ink cartridge part number - which package (the one I recently received) shows " NEW lower price, smaller size Up to 2X more pages".

The previous 564XL Black ink cartridge was thicker and as indicated on the package offered up to 3X the printing of the regular 564 Black ink cartridge. Its HP number was/is CB321WN#140 (option 140 on package). Cost about $30.

The replacement 564XL Black ink cartridge is now (one-half) about the thickness of the 564 color ink cartridges and indicates 2X the printing (550 pages) as the regular 564 Black ink cartridge. Its HP number is CN684WN#140 (option 140 on package). Cost about $22 - here and on the HP web site.

HP no longer indicates the actual amount of ink in the cartridges it sells nor apparently do the phone support people know. The HP part number is on the bottom of the package.

Ignoring any cost change contribution of cartridge parts such as plastic, electrical and packaging, you pay about 10 per cent more for the ink in the new replacement 564XL ink cartridge. Shipping cost differences affect the final cost and should be noted.

It is not uncommon for a business to increase the cost of a product in this way and remember that the cost increase may be simply because of the increased cost of production and materials.

I would have preferred HP to keep the larger cartridge and increase its cost - maybe future HP printers won't even allow larger cartridges, just one size, filled to different ink levels as already is done. If you dislike HP's action then write a letter to HP corporate - don't bother with the usual HP support - it's not a technical problem, it's a marketing-business decision. HP 564XL Black Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging (CN684WN#140)

And more expensive per page. OK - costs go up, but suddenly making it half the size (it seems about half the size). Instead of 800 or so pages you now get around 550 or so pages. But we probably won't get even 400 pages with this new cartridge.

They should call it something different. This product gets 1 out of five stars on the HP website! - Inkjet Printer Ink - Photosmart C6380 - Hp Photosmart - Hp 564xl'

Wireless Headphones - sennheiser, cordless headphones

I bought my SENNHEISER RS 110 from Bestbuy for $79.99. It was all worth it for the price. This headphone is simply amazing! I tried both Sony and RCA models before settling for a SENNHEISER and both Sony and RCA doesnt even come close to the performance of the RS 110. The sound reproduction is very distinct, no "very highs" or "very lows" on the frequency range. Just right. The range is just about right for the indicated 300 feet. It is light enough to be worn for extended periods of time and the fit is very comfortable. You dont feel that "tightness" even after wearing it for several hours. In my point of view, the sound reproduction even comes close to the BOSE noise cancelling headphones except that the SENNHEISER doesnt cancel the noise. An upgraded model, the RS 120, can be recharged by placing the headset on the transmitter--this (the recharging feature) however is the only difference. Performance is solid both ways. After making extensive evaluation on my RS 110, the only feature I could think they can add to this model is a light indicator on the main headphone unit to "visually" see if it is turned on without actually looking at the power switch. Overall, the headphone is an excellent buy compared to other models in the same price range. I highly recommend this entry level wireless headphone from SENNHEISER if you're in the market looking for one. Sennheiser RS110 Over-Ear 926 Mhz Wireless Rf Headphones

These are some pretty decent RF headphones. Very little hiss in the background, great range - the only thing I don't like is the auto on/off feature. For those who don't know what this is, the transmitter on the base doesn't start transmitting unless it "hears" enough sound for it to go. When the sound source is turned off and it doesn't "hear" anything anymore, it stops transmitting after a few minutes and you hear static in the headphones. It's basically a good idea, but not practical if/when working with different types of audio sources.

This feature can be difficult if (in my case) you are working with the headphones on a computer, where sounds come and go at different intervals (IM noises, prompts, pausing a DVD, etc.). I also use the headphones with a 15" television (no cable) that has headphone port for private viewing. While watching the TV with the headphones (the included L/R-1/16 adapter is very nice) the headphone transition cuts out every 5 minutes for a few seconds then starts again. This is probably because of the low audio strength coming from the cable-less TV, but it's just another reason why there should be a manual ON/OFF TRANSMIT switch on the base unit.

The only other drawback is that, unlike many other headphone types, Sennheiser has chosen to make very flat ear pieces. Most other headphones have the "can" type, which have a thick outer rim, allowing your ears to be closer to their natural position. With these Sennheisers my ears are frequently squished against my head, sometimes for many hours - which anyone will tell you has its own definition of pain. I'll point out that the pain only happens when I wear glasses and have the headphones on for a long time. If I have contacts in (which is mostly the case) or place the legs of the glasses above my ears, it rarely hurts to have the headphones on for the same time.

All in all, pretty good wireless headphones for consistent audio listeners, and people without glasses.

A sound engineer's perspective...

Great Sennheiser quality - strikingly similar to some of their wired models (HD202, ect). What I expected. People say don't even bother with other brands. For the great prices Sennheiser offers, I know I don't.

Works in a large house or large condo. Static (as with all wireless headphones) occurs under 4 feet. Some people don't understand that this is natural. I've been probably 50' to 100' away from the base and have had no dropouts. Static occurs over 20' but is sparse and only in certain 'spots' - usally about two square feet. The solution - avoid those 'spots' or mess with the tuning knob.

PROS:

Fairly flat frequency response - VERY nice mids and highs

Close in quality to many mid-range wired models

Almost flawless reception when in the same room

Comfortable, open-aire design - not too tight, not too loose

CONS:

Big (but so are all wireless phones)

Silver accent color (makes them look even bigger)

No rechargeable batteries

May slip off of smaller heads when bending over (mine is big though)

Lacks a bit of bass because of the open-aire design (makes it perfect for TV but leaves a tad to be desired for music)

IMPORTANT:

Your TV has RCA OUTputs

Your volume has to be UP on the TV a little for these to work - how to circumvent this? Run your cable through a VCR and take the base station out of the RCA outputs of your VCR - now you can mute the TV, but your phones will still work through your VCR volume.

The verdict? Hard to beat for the price. Wireless headphones are not perfect, but these are about as good as you can get. Want rechargeables? Upgrade to the Sennheiser RS-120s - the same electronics, but you pay $30 more for rechargeables. Want a closed-aire design? Upgrade to the RS 140s. Want something that is open-aire and rechargeable but a bit more 'stylish' - ie. all black and less 'grandpa grey' - get the HS 130s.

I understand that the 130s and 140s have 'automatic' tuning. I would think however this could be a blessing and also a curse. Also, for those who have hearing loss in one ear - the 140s have adjustable left/right balance.

Old people hate these at first because it's essentially admitting that they have hearing loss, but give them 2 days and they LOVE them. - Sennheiser Wireless Headphones - Sennheiser - Cordless Headphones - Headphones'

Waterproof Mattress Pads

I purchased 2 queen Luna mattress protectors and pillow protectors 6 months ago and wanted to post a review based on my experience. Both my daughter and I have allergies to dust mites and were told by my neighbor that Luna mattress protectors may help. One of the mattresses was 17" thick so we weren't sure how well it would fit, but it easily covered the mattress nicely. The material is very high quality and washes easily. After about a week we could actually tell a difference in our allergies from before and after we applied the mattress and pillow protectors. One added bonus of the product was when our dog had an accident on the mattress. We were amazed to discover that nothing got through the cover, which was a great relief! This mattress protector has exceeded all of my expectations and I would recommend this to anyone!

After a bad incident with my cat I was wary of cheap protectors that aren't waterproof.

When I got these I tested them under a faucet and they are actually waterproof. The terry cloth on top is soft and pleasant, the protector doesn't crackle and otherwise feels pretty high quality.

The only problem is that it only protects the top of the mattress. On the bright side, it slips on and off like a fitted sheet.

I usually don't write reviews, but I had been looking to buy another mattress protector for my guest room and 2 full mattress protectors for my kids when I saw this product. I had never heard about them before. I actually bought 1 king mattress protector before from protect-a-bed in the past, but honestly I was shocked when I saw how much I was going to have to spend buying 1 queen and 2 fulls. So I started researching and found Luna. Their description was similar to the protect-a-bed one and it's less expensive so I decided to give it a shot.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got my package.. they are very good quality and also offer 10 year warranty. Another thing I think it is worth mentioning is that they are an American company. Their products are all made in USA.

I would definitely recommend this product. You pay less for a better quality product.

I've been on the hunt for a breathable waterproof mattress cover since buying a mattress last year that required us to mortgage our firstborn. Any kind of fluid whatsoever voids the 20-year warranty. After trying several covers, I'm starting to wonder if "breathable" and "waterproof" are mutually exclusive.

I was initially pleased by the cover. It has high-quality stretchy sides that allowed it to easily cover our extra-deep queen-size mattress. It handled the washer and dryer just fine, which boded well for its durability.

But I've finally come to admit that I just can't sleep with it anymore, as I wake up continually through the night sweating like I've been running a marathon. I don't typically have problems like that, but both my husband and I wake drenched. As the weather has turned warmer, it's now gotten to the point that I can't fall asleep in the first place due to the feeling of overheating. After having a dream last night that I was swimming, I cried uncle and took the blasted thing off the bed. I have to find something else.

I debated between two stars (because it's just unbearable for me at this point, thus useless) and three stars (because it truly does seem well-made and fits our huge mattress without a problem). If you tend to sleep cold as well as live in a cold climate, this may be a terrific find for you. Otherwise, I would be very wary of the heat-trapping issue.

And the hunt continues...

******Update as of 12/9/2010******

Here's the reply I posted below to a number of people who have asked if I found anything that actually works without the sauna effect:

Okay, folks... we finally gave up and bought a wool mattress pad. Granted, we had to mortgage our firstborn for it, but it seems to be the best of all possible options.

Wool sounds like a bizarre option at first, so I understand if you're giving me a raised eyebrow. I cloth diaper my baby, and so I've learned--slowly--that top quality wool is actually buttery soft, durable, and remarkably water resistant despite being extremely breathable. Wool adapts to the climate much as silk does: it feels warmer when the ambient temperature is cold, while it breathes beautifully when the weather is hot. It's machine washable and naturally antimicrobial, so using this organic wool pad means that we're keeping the dust mites and other nasties at bay without exposing ourselves to various chemicals for hours a night.

With that in mind, we invested in a quality wool mattress cover from Green Mountain Diapers ([...]), a terrific home-based business beloved by the cloth diapering community. It was pricey (approximately $200 for a queen size), but the combination of our desire to protect an expensive mattress and our misery with all the previous covers sealed the deal.

Instant relief. Yep, wool repels water like a champ--you don't want to pour a bucket of water on your bed, but it's more than up to the challenge of the various 'oopses' that may come your way. Despite a hot summer and a husband who sleeps like a brick oven, we've both been very comfortable from the first night using it. It's very thin (1/4"), so it does not serve as a mattress PAD, but since we have a pillow-top anyway, that's not a problem and, in fact, we get to enjoy a bit more of the mattress feeling that led us to buy it in the first place! Straps are long enough to hold it securely to our 20" deep mattress, though that's the upper limit of their stretching ability.

So, I hate to point y'all to something so expensive, but honestly, over the course of years, it's an investment in your quality of sleep that will certainly be worth it. I do hope that helps!'

Mp3 Cassette Adapter

I bought this product and found like many other people out there that if you have a tape deck with an auto-reverse feature, that you'll have some problems with just about any cassette adapter. After looking online, I found out how to fix most brands, but not this one. So after tooling around for about half an hour, I figured out how to get this cassette adapter to work in an auto-reverse tape deck. If you open the adapter and look inside, you'll see a small gear between one of the center teeth wheels and the little assembly that contains the guide wheel near the edge of the adapter that can only rotate in one direction. Remove this small gear. This will allow the tape to spin freely in either direction. If you look at the guide wheel, you'll notice that it can shift to two positions. One that protrudes closer to the outside of the adapter and one that has it sit more inside the adapter. Tape this piece so that it stays permanently in one of these two positions. That guide wheel moving is how the auto-reverse in your tape deck knows to activate. After I made these changes, I found that the adapter worked in my Ford tape deck flawlessly. No need for an FM transmitter, after all! Hope this helps those of you with the same problem! Coby CA-747 Dual Position CD/MD/MP3 Cassette Adapter

This is an excellent product. I have been using it to connect my portable MP3 player to my car audio system. I have been using it daily for over a month and it work EXACTLY as it should. The sound is truely excellent and indistinguishable in quality from my car radio or CD player. The construction quality also seems to be excellent.

One thing I especially like is the coiled cord. I had used a similar product some years ago and the long connecting cord was always an inconvenience - it would hang down and get in the way during use. When you wanted to store the item in the glove box, it would just add to the clutter. With this product the cord stays neatly coiled and out of the way - it does not clutter the dashboard or floor area and is easy to store.

One thing to keep in mind when using any product like this - some (but not all) car tape players have a "skip" mode. When a tape player's "skip" mode is active, it listens for silent portions of the tape. If it is detects any silence for more than a few seconds, it will automatically go into fast forward until it "hears" sound again. If your tape player has a "skip" mode, be sure to cancel this mode - i.e., put the player in "normal" play mode. Otherwise, you will find the tape player trying to "fast forward" over any silent portions of your audio feed.

I would highly recommend this product.

I just received my unit and was aware of the possible problem with auto reverse when I bought it. But being unhappy with the quality of FM transmitters, I thought the price was worth the risk. When I plugged the Coby into my car cassette it did a couple of auto reverses and then spit the Coby out. Having read the review from 3/07 about taking the unit apart and removing the center gear, I got out my small Philips and had at it(2 screws on one side and a bunch on the other). Be careful because the parts inside the cassette fall out pretty easily. But removing the center gear worked and the sound is very good except for a little clatter from the cassette. I would guess highway noise will cover that up.

I just got mine, and have tried it in two different front loading car players. It sounds terrific in both. However, the second player is smart, and almost outsmarted me. :-) I found that, if the music isn't playing through the Coby when it is inserted, the player doesn't think a tape is there, and it won't enter play mode. If you turn the volume all the way up, you can hear a fuzzy version of the music anyway, which confused me for an hour or so. Once I realized the music needed to be on, and the Coby plugged into my iPod before putting it into the cassette player, it started working perfectly. Keep this in mind if you have trouble with yours...

Highly recommended!

Before I had this, I had a generic cassette adapter. The sound was horrible and it made a terrible, tinny echo. I bought it for my Ford Taurus which costs $800 to add a CD changer to. My wireless FM adapter sounded better than my generic cassette adapter, and it was static city since the antenna is on the opposite side of the car (station wagon).

I was pleasantly surprised when I got this adapter to replace my old one. The sound quality is better than the strongest FM station here, and the coiled cord really reduces the mess in my car. I only had one problem with this, and I think that is because of my car stereo, but I will note it anyway.

After 10 minutes of playing, my car stereo would switch to side 2, then side 1, and display TDE1 and eject the tape. After getting very angry, I found a solution. Simply take the adapter apart, spray WD40 on all the gears, and remove the small gear assembly that prevents the rape from being rewound (was this even necessary? there is no physical tape so it doesn't matter if someone tries to rewind it). Problem solved!

I would definitely get this over any other adapter.'
