Droid Incredible - screen, incredible

I think the negative reviews on this product stem from a misunderstanding on how to install the protector. It comes with thin films on BOTH sides. You use the attached stickers to peel the films off. Here's how I did it to ensure a bubble free installation:

1. Wipe screen down with mild cleaner and paper towel, I used diluted Simple Green. Rubbing alcohol would also work. This is if you already have oily finger prints on the screen.

2. Wipe screen down with included lint free cloth to remove all dust particles.

3. Peel away first film layer (you can partially peel it away to aid in placement - I just peeled the whole thing off).

4. Apply on to screen starting from one edge (if placement is off, just lift and retry, it doesn't affect the cling).

5. Squeeze out any bubbles (there weren't any when I did mine).

6. The remaining sticker is attached to the second film. Use the sticker as a handle and peel the whole film off.

The size and shape of the protector is perfect. It leaves less than 1mm gap to the edges of the screen all around. It's also perfectly clear and doesn't affect the output of the screen at all. It also doesn't affect the tactile feedback of selecting or swiping the screen.

The package comes with three protectors, each individually placed in a clear envelope. Even if it was priced at $20 like some other big brands, it would be worth it. 3 Pack of Premium Crystal Clear Screen Protectors for HTC DROID Incredible

This worked just fine, just the way it was described. After removing the first layer, and putting it on the Droid, I was having trouble removing the second tab from what I thought was the actual protector screen. Then realized that was attached to a third layer, and I just needed to pull the whole thing off. I include this because I saw two negative reviews where people tried, but couldn't remove the tab from that layer.

I love this combined with the Seidio Innocase II Case I also purchased at the same time. (Seidio Innocase II Surface Case for HTC Droid Incredible (Red)

These were okay screen protectors. I found them fairly easy to install, though it took a couple tries to get it right. They are light and the touch responsiveness was still great with one on. However, they scratch pretty easily- it only took me about a week to scratch one with the phone in my purse. Also, with the case I have the corners of the protector keep coming up and that can be a bit annoying. All in all I'm buying a different more expensive screen protector to replace this one. But these are not terrible, and I'd say they are worth a shot if you don't want to shell out more money.

When I received the screen protectors, I immediately put it on my phone. Installation was a bit of a issue, as if you mess up, it is very hard to recover it. Even when you did recover, you would get dust and stuff in it.

I thought these screen protectors were static cling and had no sticky residue, however rereading the product description I found that I must have read it wrong. I just hope there is no sticky stuff left on my phone when I take it off.

That is another thing. I have already tried to take it off, and it is a pain. Best to get someone with fingernails.

The three layers wasn't difficult to understand. One covers the sticky side, which it says peel first so if you simply take that sticker and lift toward you (which it should be attached to a clear piece, both should come off, however the white sticker should not come off of the clear piece). The other covers the top part of it which you remove after you install it.

This is where I had issues, once I was trying to place it, getting the bubbles out was difficult, but not impossible. Simply lift and air out bubbles. Helps to do it with a credit card. However, if you are trying to get the bubbles out and holding the second white sticker, that sticker could peal the top part of the screen protector off and trying to figure out where air bubbles are after that is a pain.

They are good for the money, just wish it was static cling instead. Once I installed it you can't even tell its there. Perfect cutouts for the speaker and joystick. Leaves not even a hair of space around the outside edge. There is a noticeable gap around the joystick and speaker cutouts.

Also once installed, it does show your fingerprints when it is turned off and any time your screen is black/dark. I will be constantly trying to clean off fingerprints with this screen protector.

I would recommend it to those with little budgets, but if you have a few extra dollars to spend, I would try to find a different one. I was on a budget so that is why I ordered these. They work well for the money.

This package comes with 3 screen protectors, two are clear and one is anti-glare.

They cover the whole front face of the phone as seen in the photos. There is a full circle cutout where the optical button is - the photos are ambiguous as to whether it's a full circle or separated at the bottom.

It's not a bad deal for the price but there is a small issue with the quality that I've seen from other vendors of cheap screen protectors.

There appears a sort of bubble around a small part of the circle cut area of the optical mouse/button that appears after installation. I think it is caused by dull cutters that causes the material to bend out of shape a bit instead of being cleanly cut. Then because the plastic is bent, it does not fit perfectly flat around those cut areas.

This is a very minor flaw but something the thicker, more expensive screen covers avoid (Like the AT&T vended ones for the iPhone which have a similar circle hole).

Other than that, there's nothing remarkable about these protectors save for the price. They are clear without noticeable distortion - even if you look for it.

Bottom line: If you can live with possible slight flaws around the optical mouse/button, I would recommend this product. It has a good quality/price ratio.

/!\ UPDATE (02/23/2011) /!\

After a couple weeks, the protector finally became flush around the optical button. The protector still seems to be stuck on well and is not coming up at the edges. It seems to have minimal scratching and still appears clear. - Droid - Screen - Protector - Incredible'
