pencil grips - pencil grips

I teach children grades K-1 with special needs. I've used the claw for about four years and given away all but about five of the original set of 25 I ordered within the years - to kids to use at home or to other teachers. These are fantastic - with a claw, the child can not hold the pencil (or crayon) incorrectly! And, they like it - the boys, especially, think the idea of "THE CLAW" is appealing. The soft rubbery material is comfortable in their hands. Be careful not to get the smallest ones, though, as very few children K-1 age "fit" them. Pencil Grip The Classics Writing Claw Medium, Blue/Red, 6 Count (TPG-21206)

My 2nd grader HATED these. Very uncomfortable. They weren't designed to help teach a child to hold a pencil correctly. Out of the 4 we tried this was the only one she refused to use. I thought it was the worst of the 4 we bought and the 8 we've tried. SKIP IT! Buy http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001SN8HPI/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

My daughter calls them "The Cobra"

We've only had the claw for a couple of weeks and we already see a difference. It took a little getting used to for my son to hold it correctly, but he has made major improvements. He really likes it. I got the medium and probably could have purchased the small. My son is in second grade and is 7. The teacher recommended this for him and has encouraged other kids in the class to use them also.

I purchased 3 types of finger grips for my 5yr Kindergartener that was having difficultly writting. This was by far the least successful. He hated them. The medium bearly fit his hand and they were so flimsy that he fought them nonstop. He took them to his teacher to give out to other kids. Our biggest sucess was the grotto grips.. they fit well and naturally place the fingers in the right spots to help make the letters. He showed progress in only a few minutes with the Grotto Grip - less frustration in holding his pencil.

My six year old son has struggled with fine motor skills and handwriting. This grip totally changed how he had been holding his pencil incorrectly by forcing his fingers to hold it differently. He used these for two weeks before being able to write on his own correctly without the grip. I gave these to his first grade teacher and it is helping many other students also. This would also be a great gift for any Kindergarten or 1st grade teacher to use with their students. - Pencil Grips'
