I think that this charger is the best car charger for an iphone/ipod that money can buy. It is super compact, easy to use and doesn't need a long cord to be stored along with it. All you need is the usb cable that comes along with your device. This unit actually sticks out of the lighter socket quite a ways, but since there seems to be no firm standard for lighter socket depth, YMMV.
Regardless, it works, and protrudes less than most of the USB lighter-socket chargers, with negligible chance of being too short to make contact (like a "low profile" one I also bought at Amazon).
BTW, it doesn't appear that Sony has anything to do with this charger, at all -- minus 1 star for fibbery.
This is a $4 replacement for a $29.99 iPhone charger, and bluetooth headset charger, and GPS charger. Just use your own cables. The landfills will be less full because of it. I saved $90.00! This product rocks! I bought 1 for each car!'
