Kindle Freebie - kindle freebie, mp3 download

Every now and then, the Powers that Be at Amazon decide to toss us a treat. Grammy-winning, multi-platinum artist Joss Stone hardly needs to give away free music to get attention - but then again, I never paid her much attention before, and she might just have made a fan out of me with "Somehow." Stone's deep, sultry voice packs a force that some singers much older than her 24 years would give their eyeteeth for (whatever that means). This soulful song should appeal to R&B fans, but the upbeat melody and Stone's passionate vocals will surely endear this track to those who enjoy complex and sophisticated pop. This song is so easy and pleasant to listen to, but attentive listeners will find themselves rewarded with the poetry of the lyrics, which describe a woman's unrequited love for a frustrating and unpinnable man: "Somehow I'd like to get to know him/Somebody told me that I should claim him/Somebody told me I shouldn't let him go/But they really don't know."

This is amazing music. Download it now while it's still free. Somehow

Joss Stone's R&B single "Somehow" is a song that laments a partner she's not truly happy with, but can't imagine living without. Someone she sees potential in, but right now has traits that drive her crazy.

"...I really hate to say this

I can't wait till he gets older

Then I can assure you we'll be fine

I won't bow out

I know nobody's perfect

When in love you gotta earn it

But until then

I guess we'll have to scream and shout..."

Joss' vocal delivery steals the show; with honey-smooth, soul-felt passages, and grittier parts that remind me of an 80s Tina Turner. Hailing from England, Ms. Stone is only 24, yet somehow manages to sound experienced beyond her years. Her backing band is quite competent and the WHAMish/INXSish instrumentals serve only to spotlight her vocal talents. She cites Aretha Franklin as an early influence and it is easy to hear that in her music. This track is from her latest offering LP1 and is indicative of what you'll hear on the rest of the album. If you like her other releases and dig this song, then picking up LP1 is an awesome way to get your fix from the latest from this young R&B diva. This track is (currently) free, and right now LP1's MP3 download is only $4, so what are you waiting for?

That the new album, LP1, even exists is a bit of a shock; here I thought Ms. Stone was gearing up for her new superband with Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart (due this fall). So let us rejoice in a double-dose of long-overdue new music from the barefoot siren of summer. With crisp production and a joyous chorus, this song is a new high for Joss - upbeat, sunny and simply a lot of fun.

it's something Joss has never failed to supply since day one. Here again, Joss' intent was to put out an album that reflect HER sound, not something dictated by a record company. Imagine my surprise when I found Dave Stewart (of "The Eurythmics" fame (The Ultimate Collection)all over this new album with song co-writing credits, player credits, etc. At first I thought it must have been a different Dave Stewart, but sure enough...

LP-1 is filled with a number of great songs much in the same souful vein that Joss has brought to us so many times, but it includes some rock and roll numbers as well which seem quite outside what we'd come to expect from this sultry songstress.

Be sure to check out the new 'Super Heavy' music too (Superheavy), which includes Joss performing with Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart (and more). We need MORE great music like this!

This song should be on the radio. That is what is wrong with radio now. Great music like this is overlooked. And the same songs are played over and over day after day. Loved the sample and was not disappointed by the song. Played it for friends and they loved it too.

Joss Stone is just one of those artists. A real life sexy and beautiful woman whose vocals are soulful, and add to her appeal. This song is that for me. You ever see a beautiful woman, close your eyes, listen to her sing, and then get goosebumps from just how even more amazing her voice is from her outward beauty? That is what you get here...a song that kind of gives you the chills...in a good way. I enjoyed it immensely (and my girlfriend did as well). Very good, and a nice treat to have it offered free here on Amazon! Enjoy!

This track is a perfect combination of several tasty ingredients. It has a moderately fast tempo that is great for dancing or working out, crisp classic-soul style backing, and of course great vocals. The lyrics are also enjoyable but do include the S-word in one place. (Doesn't bother me but I thought readers with small kids might like a heads-up.) Play it loud!

Joss Stone - solo artist - this R&B number is built around her inviting raspy vocals and she does have the pipes to deliver. She sings with enough power to convince you she has lived the subject matter. Undeniable talent here.

There is no question that Joss Stone hasn't really received the recognition that she had brought in from a few years ago with her music. But lately, her songs have honestly not been what they've been cracked up to be. She has somehow been a bit more underrated with her songs, and just hasn't had the drive she showcased with Fell In Love With A Boy when she first came out in 2004. Her latest song, Somehow, feels a bit more blah, than really anything that stands out to make her more driven and show that she is more than the lackluster divas like Beyonce' and Rihanna. But, with the recent tragic death of Amy Winehouse, it should also be a noble opportunity to reintroduce her music, as well as U.K. soul to a whole new audience. Hopefully, Joss will come out with sonething more driven than what I've heard with Somehow.
