Outdoor Toys - water play, sand and water activity center

We bought this for my son's 2nd birthday from Amazon after we saw this on display in a local children's specialty toy store. The toy store wanted $20 more than what Amazon was offering it for & of course Amazon provided free shipping! This set is awesome. It occupies my son for a long time! We play with it outside on the patio as my son tends to splash water everwhere! We also bought 2 people & 2 additional sailboats. I like that is is portable, packs into the size of a little suitcase. Aquaplay AquaLand

We bought this for our 3 year-old to put on the patio table for water play and pack upfor the beach, but still fold-and-go for travel and convenient storage. Set-up is not to difficult, but the instructions are pretty poor. I had to kind-of trial and error the installation of the rubber gasket pieces that join the two halves and make it water-tight. The water doesn't leak out, but be prepared for plenty of spillage with play-both over the sides and the gaps in the middle of the toy--this is not something you can just put a towel underneath to absorb. It held up well, but I was disapointed to see that you have to dis-assemble them every time you want to fold and store this item...wondering just how long it will remain functional. When you fold the table, there are 2 large holes on the bottom of the case that the smaller pieces fall out of. I had thought I could fold-and-go with all components nested inside, but that is not the case...to travel well, you have to hold the case upside down, with the handle towards the floor or the contents will fall out. Also, putting all the parts inside the case for folding is a bit of an exercise in 3D puzzle-solving...it took me a few tries. The table came with decals to decorate your harbor/roads, but we elected to skip them altogether, so I can't comment on how well they hold up to the water/sand/etc. Also, no matter what I try, I can't get the water pump to work at all-not at all essential to play-time, but annoying to me. Be sure you play in a place where you can just dump out the water, as there is no drain plug, and if your pump is also defective, you can't pump out the bulk of the water into a pitcher or other container for discard--I learned this the hard way. Overall, Mommy's a bit disappointed with the lack of forethought in the engineering of this product.

Our daughter, however, really enjoys playing with this. The bridges and locks do tend to pop off with play, but she doesn't seem to care the least. I just pop it back on and all is well. I wish it came with a few people, but she doesn't seem to care. Cute concept that should have been better executed for the price!

We received this as a gift for our 18-month old son and were excited to try it out. Here are some of the pro's & con's:

Pros

- We've played with it at least 10 times and it does not leak

- It comes with lots of parts to manuver & play

- Educational for a child at least 3+ who can use it correctly

Cons

- The pieces pull off very easily

- Can be difficult to manuever some of the pieces as intended

- Although it does break down and has a carrying handle, the bottom of the "suitcase" when folded is still open and all the pieces fall out. So you have to carry it upsside down.

- The two sealing pieces do a great job in leak protection, but they are difficult to get on and off. I've started to just keep it assembled which takes up more room.

You might as well just burn $70 it would be longer-lasting entertainment for the kids. This is a total piece of garbage. Impossible to put together - Won't hold water - Falls apart. Don't waste your time or energy. - Sand And Water Activity Center - Sand Table - Water Table - Water Play'
