You can spend whatever amount you want on a winch from many different manufacturers. The choice comes down to: manufacturers quality reputation vs rated weight capacity vs price. Superwinch gets good reviews, and the price was very good so I decided to go with this winch. Installation was easy, and the power cables were long enough to reach my battery with about a foot to spare. Be aware that if your battery is on the drivers side firewall, and/or you need to route the cables in less than a straight run, you might be short on cable length. Other things you will need to install: 1/2" split tubing and zip ties. I also needed a short jumper to go from the included circuit breaker to the positive battery terminal. The instructions show the circuit breaker bolted directly to the positive battery terminal, but this was not possible in my vehicle. Superwinch 1510200 LP10000 Series Winch
I have had this winch on my jeep for only 2 months now, but have 9 recoveries to date. On the trail or in this winter record blizzard we have had here in MO it performs time and time again. The line speed is a little slow compared to some other winches but if you are not competing I dont see this as an issue. Built strong and with quality parts, nothing less than you would expect with Superwinch's name. This model is relatively new to the Superwinch line. I hope in the near future to see more accessories available for the LP winch line. For the money I have never seen a more reliable winch especially carrying a top of the line brand name. The winch is great. It was relatively easy to install. The negative was the condition of the box and winch when I received it. The box looked like it had been thrown off the empire state building. It's remnants were barely held together with packing tape. The winch had a large dent in the cast body from the apparent impact off the the New York icon. The paint was chipped off in the vicinity of the dent. Other that paying 400.00 for a cosmetically damaged (new winch) it's great. I think amazon needs to investigate the pros and cons of offering free shipping on large, expensive, breakable items. It was likely shipped on a pack animal through the Khumba Icefall.
The price from amazon.con was 1/3 less than any other shop we got prices from. This superwinch LP1000 is very powerful! If you need a winch this is the one to buy.Happy 4 wheeling and remember to take your winch with you. - Winches'
