Latin Music - free, latin music
This is an enjoyable Brazilian music sampler, if only the people responsible had attempted to inform us who the actual musicians are. Due to unavailable artist tags in the mp3 files I downloaded from Amazon, I researched other albums on the Brazilian Atração label to find out the names of the artists. Such a sloppy effort to inform us of the actual names of the artists, makes me wonder about the commitment and competency of the label and it's digital distributor "The Orchard", the company that owns eMusic as well. I see these irregularities on the eMusic site all the time, and these occurences do not fill me with joy, only hours of tracking down info and re-tagging files.
Here's who I think is on this sampler:
Bomfim by Naurêa
Samba da Bahia by Banda de Boca
Samba de Garoa (trk 12) is actually
Coisas Da Paixão (La Solitudine) by Carlos Pitta
( thanx to reviewer Speight who tracked down his album Fotos, Baladas E Recordações)
Terezinha De Jesus by Paulo Moura
Vale do Javari by Regional Vermelho E Branco
Xote Laranjeira by Renato Borghetti
Pássaro Sonhador by Arlindo Junior
Lá Vema Onda by Escurinho ( the album is called Malocage)
De Lua e Sol by Gilberto Monteiro
Iererê by Alê Muniz
Nayambing Blues by Adão Negro
Eu Prefiro Baião by Cascabulho
Pérola by Alma Serrana
Sete Palavras by Pedro Bento e Ze Da Estrada (?) Atração Presents: Music From Brazil
Track 12 is actually "Coisas Da Paixão (La Solitudine)" by Carlos Pitta, track 1 of the the album Fotos, Baladas E Recordações.
(I found this out listening to the song samples of length 3:36 on a search for the label name until one sounded the same. Quicker than learning Portuguese.)
It would be nice if the track listing was accurate and complete, but otherwise some nice music, especially for a free sampler. Does seem odd that they don't make it easier to find the represented artists.
Excellent, Excellent effort, Lil Mike...!!!
That being said, I can add the following changes. Most are just for purity of Nomenclature. Rest assured, they're no biggie :)
Tk 1:- "Sete Palavras" is by "Pedro Bento & Zé Da Estrada" (per the CD sleeve Front) or "Pedro Bento e Zé Da Estrada" (to keep it Spanish). Also note the accent on Zé's name.
Trk 4:- The song is by Adão Negro all right. However, what's interesting is, this sampler version is the Studio version, while Amazon is actually 'selling' only a LIVE version. Guess we can call this studio version "An Amazon Freebie Exclusive!!!" :)
Tk 7: The song name is "Lá Vem a Onda", not "Lá Vema Onda".
Tk 8: The artist is 'Arlindo Jr"
Tk 12: Unfortunately, this is not correct. Demônios da Garoa DOES HAVE a "Samba da Garoa" from the album "E Convidados". However, it is 5:01 min long, and from the Amazon preview, it sounds pretty bombastic. The 3:36 version in this sampler is a soft And sentimental song... doesn't AT ALL sound like a "Samba". Admittedly, I am Stumped as well on this one. If I had to venture a guess, Amazon may have screwed up and uploaded the wrong song for the right title (or vice versa).
Any of our Spanish-speaking friends wanna help out here?
That's all I can find out. Now I'm gonna shut off my smokin' brain, lean back and listen to the whole CD again.... :)
Thank you everyone who are trying to identify the proper musicians for these tracks. One correction, the official language of Brazil is Portuguese, not Spanish. Those who speak Spanish can help but we really need some diehard Brazilian music buffs or Brazilians themselves to properly identify these songs for us whose primary language is English. The sampler itself is a good eclectic collection of the kind of music that is listened to by the many people who live in the rural areas of Brazil and listen to the radio day and night.
You really can't beat free for trying out a new kind of music you may or many not like. In my case, it wasn't for me. Despite there being a wide variety of styles represented, I ended up deleting the whole thing after sampling each track, not a single one made it to my permanent collection.
I love this album!! I downloaded it when it was first offered and I listen to it about 3 times a week. This is a great album to have as background music to work and work out to. I find myself listening to the songs but not singing along (which will make me lose concentration at work).. Great album! - Free Mp3 - Free - Latin Music - Compilation'
