Power Tools

This is a homeowner's dream. I've been looking at the Milwaukee, DeWalt, etc. cordless combos for years but I could not justify the price for my week-end warrior needs. This kit gave me reasonably well-made and well-powered tools at a price I could afford. My son and I built a real tree-house (8x10, 10 ft. high!) over the Thanksgiving using these tools with no problems. The tools all performed and held up well through that 40 hour project. I was glad to have the cordless feature up in those trees 200 feet from the nearest electric outlet. You really do need to cycle the batteries a few times before you get the max life out of them, but the one hour charger does exactly that. I'm also a fairly slow worker(nobody's paying me), so that I rarely needed a new battery before the charging one was ready and if I did, that was a good time for a break (like I said, nobody's paying me for this work). I can see where a professional would need more run-time.

If I were using these tools everyday, I'd shell out for the professional brands, but for my needs they are just right for the price. Skil 2887-16 18-Volt 4-Tool Combo Pack

O.K. this is not going to rival a 500.00 cordless set but for the price and for an occasional user this is pretty good stuff. Unlike some of the other reviewers I would rate the circular saw as my favourite piece. The blade has to be sharp and you need to take it easy and let the saw do the work. The paper work suggests 70, 2X4's can be cut on one battery and this seems in the ball-park. Someone wrote that they could only go through 5 2X6's before running out of juice..there must have been a serious problem with the batteries or saw if this was the case.

Mine has lots of power for general building and more than enough battery juice to complete the small home reno stuff I do. The first few charges the batteriesare at about 80% and then full power is attained.

The soft sided bag is a good idea but a padded, pocket for the batteries would have been a nice touch. There are many nice touches though... the stud finder slips on top of the drill and is easily detached and works very well, the light on the drill is a good idea for those over 40, the reciprical saw has on board blade storage for two blades, the base of the circular saw holds a wrench for blades changes, the gauge on the battery makes running out of power less of a surprise.

I think upping the price and including 4 batteries would be something I'd pay for but all and all; good stuff.

After several years I'll add the following. The batteries drain down in storage faster than other cordless tools I have. This is frequently annoying and I awould downgrade my review from 4 stars to three.

Robert Bosch Corp., (yes, same Bosch)owns Skil. Skil tool power plants, cordless and corded alike are designed by Bosch engineers and built under contract at Black & Decker, who just so happens to be the parent company of DeWalt. Skil is merely a company in name only anymore, much like the cb radio giant Cobra. Cobra, once a stand alone manufacturer now exists in name only, with all of their products built and designed by Uniden but still sold under the Cobra name. Same thing here. Anyway, I enjoy the combo set immensely. I have cut 59 2x4's on a single charge. I cut 12ea 2x6 rafters, including peak rake and bird's mouth, 10 2x4's for blocking, etc and crosscut 4ea 7/16 4x8 OSB on one battery charge. It will take you four solid charges to get the battery ready to accept a full charge and you should always completely discharge the battery each time. My only dislike is the sliding feature and general design of the battery. Oh well, I have many tools and this set has earned its keep. Do yourself a favor, bypass the other sets at $500 or more and spend the $180 for this one. You'll be glad you did.

Used this kit many times. Good tools & good battery life. One battery did 10 cuts on 2X6 lumber, then drilled four 1.25" holes with a paddle bit on the drill. Batteries must be charged & completely discharged several times before they have their full power.

I bought this kit about 3 weeks ago. Do not buy the cordless circular saw. I could only cut a pice of plywood about 20x30 inches on one charge. The drill has only 1 drawback- the cruck is strange and when you try to grab it to tighten down, it slips out of your hand. Flashlight is increadibly bright. The sawzall is nice, but my Craftsman sawzall can out perform it. This kit might be nice for a home owner, but for saws, go corded.Hope this Helped-

Tools look great and do a great job as long as the battery last but I'm not sure if these tools will satisfy someone whom will use them heavely. The circular saw claims 70 2x4s per charge, I've only used it on 2x6s and the batt only lasted for 5 of them. The sawsall eats them even faster. The flashlight is also only half as brite as my DeWalt 12v.I'm hopeful that after a few cycles the batt will increase there run time. Have not used drill enough to rule on.I might change my mind in future but right now I can neither recommend for or against buying. Tried again, batts did not last as long as the first time!

I bought this kit 2 1/2 years ago when I needed to some home repairs to sell our house. The circular saw was not very powerful and would drain the battery very quickly. Then after about 3 months worth of use I had a very hard time detaching the battery from the saw. So once I finally got the battery to detach the circular saw has sat on the shelf ever since. The drill worked great for about 2 years but now seems that the clutch is slipping so replacing the drill. I still have jigsaw and flashlight and they are working fine. Battery does stick occassionaly on the jigsaw. I guess that I got my moneys worth out of it just hoped that it would last longer than 2 years before 2 of the pieces were broke. The drill is stull useable but have to stop every so often to reset the speed selector because it slips out of gear.'

Finding the correct replacement battery was easy, and shipped fast. However....it was not stated clearly (or at all) that this battery would NOT fit the current charger that I had. It needs a new one, sold completely separately, and not easy to find. This was a disapointment, because I did have projects waiting for my Power Tool!

The charger cord also shipped quickly once the actual company go back to me, and let me know the item number. Two weeks later....I am up and running again!

I have an older power tool, but it is sturdy and I like it. This was way cheaper (even with the charger) than buying a new one! 14.40V,1400mAh,Li-ion,Replacement Power Tools Battery for BOSCH 26156801,PSR 14.4 VES-2,Compatible Part Numbers: 2 607 335 210, 2 607 335 252, 2 610 995 883,2 607 335 160, 2 607 335 246,'

Expandable Waist - iphone 4 cover, iphone 4 cases

Like many slacks I buy these days, these were a little tightly cut in the crouch. Not the products fault. I just find more and more imported slacks do not have a consistent fit in that area these days. Louis Raphael BRAGGI Men's Poly Rayon Gabardine Solid Flat Front Pant,Dark Charcoal,34x32

The overall fit of the item is great (waist, butt, and thigh) but the pant length was not. I ordered the 35x32 (the item is clearly marked also) and the length was no where near 32 (I measured it at 28.5). Because they are comfortable and I ordered them at a reduced price (I am paying to have the hem lengthened) I am keeping the pants.

Louie Rafa needs to be more proactive in the QA department.

I recently bought some work pants from clothing store during Memorial holidays for $30/pair. Upon seeing this product at $10 cheaper, I bought a pair.

Out of the Box initial impression:Product is dirty and feels cheap

Sizing: I bought 32 x 32, upon trying on the pants, I immediately noticed the pants sizing is completely off. I then took my other 32x32 pants and compared it to the Louis R. pants, the Louis pants is approximately 2 inches longer than dimension callout, and 2 inches wider than callout. So the Louis pants says its 32x32, it's more like 34x34. The pants is extremely baggy and does not hang well to the body. if you're very overweight, then this pants might be for you.

Final review:

Product material feels cheap, it arrived dirty, sizing is completely wrong. If a company can't even sell a product according to universal dimensions, why would anyone trust or buy this product. Obviously Louis Raphael is a cheap product that is not worth purchasing. I would not buy these pants or any of Louis Raphael brands in the future. I wouldn't even consider buying these pants if it was $10.

I wear these in an office environment - they are a good fit, hold up to wash/dry without wrinkling - I find that buying pants in this price range will usually have some flaw - these seem to be just fine.

This is a great product but unfortunately it went up in price from my first purchase. I will be looking for a cheaper alternative but as of right now I can say this is the best thing out there on the Amazon market.

Comically poor fit. I normally wear 40x30 jeans, so I ordered 44x30 of these since dress pants tend to run smaller than jeans and to allow for the extra layer of shirts being tucked in. Even so, these were still AT LEAST 4 inches too small in the waist and, to make it worse, they were about 6 inches too long. Sending them back. - Iphone 4g Case - Iphone 4 Cases - Iphone 4 - Iphone 4 Cover'

Ipod Touch 4g - black, cover

I am insanely picky about my cases. I don't want any that add bulk, have to have easy accessibility to all controls, don't want it to be so sticky that you can't put it in your pocket, etc. This is, with the case on, still super thin, my ipod still feels smaller than my 3G w/o the case. It's very slightly rubberized but not to the point where it attracts lint/etc... so very easy to wipe off if I get something on it. It feels very well made and sleek in my hands. It's also very easy to take off and I can still use it in all of my speaker docks. I have no desire to look further... it's perfect! Oh and I can even fit it into my armband to work out w/o even having to take off the case!!! Premium Rubberized Hard Crystal Case Cover for Apple iPod Touch 4G, 4th Generation, 4th Gen - Black, Seamless Rear Case Only

When it comes to cases for my portable devices, I usually don't even bother. I like having my device in its original form without anything hindering its looks and feel. I was very hesitant to buy this case (not just this case, but a lot of them), but it was cheap, so I decided to go for it.

And I wasn't disappointed! The iPod snaps right into the case and fits nearly perfectly. It covers the entire back (with a hole for the camera). When it's in my pocket, it doesn't collect lint or anything, and it's easy to get in and out. It even adds a little hight to the front of the device so if you dropped it face down, the case might save it. I feel a lot better about setting it on tables and counters. Also, the little case just looks so nice; it doesn't subtract from the beauty of the iPod at all. My only regret is not getting it earlier, because my iPod is already scratched up, but you can't tell at all with the case on.

Great case. Considering how picky I am, to give this a 5 stars is a big deal. And it's cheap. Get it!

The top of my case doesn't stay clipped tight. It's still very usable, but if you squeeze the top together you feel slight movement and hear a 'click', but when you let go you hear the 'click' again and it goes back to being not tight again.

Also, I ordered it for it's matte coating. Which I really like, however, it's already starting to peel off around the volume buttons and the bottom corners.

So basically, it's an inexpensive case that does the job, but look elsewhere if you're looking for quality.

Reading the reviews for this product is confusing, as all reviewers do not seem to have received the same product. I received a one-piece cover for the back only, which is what I wanted. Unfortunately, the fit is much too loose and the cover falls off at the slightest touch. Useless.

I love this case cover, it's like a skin and it feels wonderful. It protects my IPT from scratches and allows me to use the camera without another protective covering. The openings are in the right place as well for easy access to the buttons. I received one compliment on it so far.

Depending on what your needs are, there are two types of iPod cases out there; ones that offer some kind of protection should you drop your iPod, and ones that merely protect it from scratches.

Personally, it makes no sense to me to buy a beautiful, sleek and thinner-than-the-last-gen device and then entomb it in thick rubber or plastic. I'd much rather watch my butterfingers and instead have a skin or minimal case to control scratches.

If that's what you're looking for -- look no further. This case is gorgeous. I could not be happier, I absolutely love it.

Those of you familiar with the Air Jacket made for previous generations of the iPod Touch & iPhone -- THIS IS BETTER. It's cheaper, it's a nicer design, and it hugs the bevel on the 4th Gen Touch. I thought I loved the Air Jacket -- which was an insanely over-priced piece of plastic -- but this case exceeds the Air Jacket in every possible way.

The plastic has a nice feel to it, and it's black throughout -- not just a black coating on the inside. It has a faint, rubberish feel to it -- but it's not that sort of rubbery material that attracts dust or lint. This is a nice matte finish and it isn't slippery when you're holding it. Even though I have no expectations that this case would offer any protection against dropping my Touch -- it does seem like the rubberized coating would absorb some shock.

Also a plus -- the cut-away bottom allows my iPod to sit in all of the various docks I have without needing to remove the case. This alone is brilliant.

This has to be the best case type I have ever owned for an iPod touch, regardless of the model. This case is very slim and therefore it will not interfere with docking stations. It snaps on very easy. It leaves the top where the power button is and the bottom where the connector, speaker, and 3.5mm plug are open (mainly clips to the sides). I have been putting this in my pocket with keys and this case protects the aluminum from scratches (unlike silicone cases)!! Overall its the best case I've ever owned for an iPod touch. - Cover - Ipod Touch 4g - Black - Case'

Bluetooth Mouse

I have been using this mouse for almost a month now and I am very satisfied with it. It is smaller than most mice, but fits snuggly in my hand, considering that I have big hands. It is very responsive (sometimes too responsive) and the back button and mouse wheel complement its functionality. The battery indicator is another great plus, cause at least you can get a warning when you are running low; although it is very energy-efficient, I'm still using the packed standard AAA batteries with an average of 6-7 hours of daily use. And the power switch is also great for saving energy.

To sum up, Pros:

- Excellent Microsoft design (esthetical, ergonomical)

- Great price

- Very responsive (it's laser, not optical)

- Great battery life (I'll let you know on the comments when the first pair of batteries run out. I already have a rechargeable pair on stand-by).

- Instant pairing with bluetooth enabled PC's (I did not try it on a Mac)

- Back button functionality

- Power switch lets you turn it off when not in use to save battery, and you just turn it on and in a couple of seconds it reconnects (this has been a life-saver since I walk away from my desk very often, and I would not like that some envious co-worker "borrowed" it for his home, and it fits quite nicely on my shirt or pants pocket)

- It glides very smoothly on almost any surface (even on my bed sheets)

- It comes with a nice carry-bag.

Cons:

- It has dropped the connection about 5 or 6 times during the time I have been using it, but it reconnects after turning on and off again. Kind of annoying.

- I wish it had a forward buttong as well.

- It is somethimes too responsive, depending on the surface you wear it on. I fixed this by tweaking the mouse sensitivity on the Windows mouse settings.

I recommend this bluetooth mouse.

UPDATE (2/23/08): Well, the battery indicator is going red now (3 months after I started using it), but, if I could, I would downgrade my rating to 3 stars because of the following: The power switch broke like a week ago (the damn thing kinda got loose of it's place and still moves, but it doesn't change the power state). I tried going DIY and tried fixing it myself, but ended up getting it worse, although I managed the leave the power on. This means poor craftsmanship from Microsoft, because I consider I did not misused the mouse. I now can't turn the mouse off, so I have to remove the batteries every time I don't use it. This resulted on casting the mouse aside and leaving it just for special occasions (long meetings or surfing @ home).

I still consider the mouse is good, but this has negatively changed my opinion on Microsoft hardware (don't even get me started on their SW). Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Mac/Windows

The Mouse that Roared

I waited five months to write this review to give the Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse a complete workout. I am using it frequently with my Asus EEPC netbook on the road and at home and am very impressed.

The size is excellent considering this is a small mouse. I have medium-large sized hands and enjoy a mouse that is usually much larger. The Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse fits nicely under the hand and has excellent response. In fact, the mouse works on more surfaces and more obscure locations than of the other wireless mice I use on my home computer.

The reason I waited so long to do this review was because others complained about the on-off switches breaking. I had no problems with this switch and while I take good care of my equipment five months of constant use has proved that the switch is as sound today as when it arrived. The on-off switch is located on the bottom and is embedded into the unit. It does not stick out and it would seem difficult to break unless you are pushing it too hard.

As far as battery life, well I am still using the original batteries sent with the unit and five months of use is a lot of life from a single set of regular batteries. I have many times put it away without turning off the power switch yet the original shipped batteries are still working fine. Of course that leaves me unable to comment on the light that would appear if the batteries start to go.

The Bluetooth works perfectly and it is so nice to this feature built into the mouse and the EEPC, which leaves the netbook with no dongles or use of the USB ports. The most interesting thing for me is that the mouse operates on almost any surface. No need for a mouse pad or surface with color or patterns. I can use it on a white table, the couch, a piece of white paper or whatever and it is live and responsive. It also can be used at a greater distance and more obscure angles from the netbook than my other full size wireless (USB related) mice.

While the mouse has a page-back feature button it has no right hand page-forward button. A small drawback. There is a very responsive scroll wheel, which besides scrolling up and down, you can bend to the right or left to scroll pages in the direction you want. This is a great feature on the newer netbook 10-inch screens, which seem to never put the content in view without movement. It now becomes apparent why advertising takes up all the top of a page.

The Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse is a solid unit that is handsomely designed, well engineered, works without dongles, does not use one of the valuable USB ports, and energy efficient, which offers most, if not all, the features of a full sized mouse in a small compact netbook sized unit. All in all I am extremely pleased with the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook mouse and highly recommend it.'

Cables To Go - monitor cable, monitor cables

After deciding to hook up my 19" LCD TV/monitor to my desktop tower, I went looking for a VGA cable with the attached audio. Had I bought from Best Buy I could have plunked down $25-30. This cable works and can't be beat for the money. Recommended. RiteAV - SVGA Monitor Cable with 3.5mm Audio - 6 ft.

I bought this cable to replace my old VGA cable on my 720p TV, so I could use the old one to connect another monitor in my office. The old one had worked fine, but I wanted a cable that combined audio and video in one, so I could more tidily connect my computer to my TV. However, when I got this cable, I couldn't get it to use an HD resolution on my TV, it would max out at 1024x768. When I emailed the company, they told me that SVGA cables max at 1024x768. It doesn't say this anywhere in the description. It was too inexpensive to send back, and it's useless for trying to watch any HD content from my computer on my TV. Again, my old VGA cable worked perfectly, so I've gone back to that.

Update: So when I originally emailed Eforcity, I was rebuffed by a person who didn't seem to really understand technical things, so I just counted this cable as a loss. However, when I posted my negative review, they quickly emailed me and said they were sending me another one free of charge, because they believed it was defective. I added a star to my review since they at least were willing to try to correct the situation. When that cable finally arrived however, it didn't work either. It had the exact same problem, plus video artifacts. When I originally purchased this cable, the price was closer to $10 as well, so at this point I think I'm just out the $10. They wanted me to change my review after I got the new product, so here's the change.

Anyway, there's a slight chance this could just be an oddity between my particular tv and computer setup, since other people haven't seemed to have this problem. However, since I went out to a store and bought another cable that works perfectly, I think this cable is just shoddy.

To all the people calling me names and accusing me of not knowing what I'm talking about, I'm a visual effects artist. That means I'm constantly working with computers, video, etc. and I know a lot about this type of stuff. To the guy rambling about how 1024 x 768 makes a decent second monitor, no it doesn't, especially on a widscreen tv where I'm trying to check a shot on a big screen in the right aspect ratio. 1024 x 768 is not a 16:9 aspect ratio, and I lose half my screen real estate that way.

Works well .. no issues with the cable so far. Video and audio quality are decent .. can't complain. The finishing of the cable might leave something lacking .. it doesn't feel or look like a polished product., but if you want that I'm sure you can find better looking cables for a few bucks more.

I bought this cable specifically because the technical details said it had a '24 inch distance between VGA and 3.5mm connectors'. That is not true. It has about a 12-13 inch distance and therefore does not reach when I plug the VGA into one side of my laptop with the mini audio on the other.

This VGA cable is working fine and continues to be in working condition since I bought it a month ago. The 3.5mm stereo connectors extend beyond the listed reach of the cable itself so you can connect a laptop to a TV for audio and video pretty easily.

One thing to note is that this cable is not triply-shielded, as the thickness might lead you to believe.

We used this cable to connect our laptop (Sony Vaio laptop) to our TV (40" Sony Bravia) and it works great! I had to play around with the laptop settings (under display in the control panel) in order to maximize the resolution (this depends on how good your video card is) and mirror it (so the same thing shows up on both screens). I also found that having the cable plugged in on both ends first, before switching sources on the TV, works best (common sense, I know). Great product!

This is a great cable, however after i received it I realized that my audio port is on the opposite side of my netbook as my video port. I got the ICables To Go 13787 3.5 mm Male/Female Stereo Audio Extension Cable (6 Feet, Black) extension cable (6ft was over kill but it has other uses too). Plugs right into my HiDef TV and I can watch hulu videos on a 40" screen instead of my 10.1" screen.

I bought this so I could watch videos and play World of Warcraft on my TV. I connected it from my Dell netbook to my Sceptre HDTV. The sound and video were both perfect.

For best quality you'll want to have the TV as the only monitor (for the simple reason that your computer works faster that way). You can change this in your graphic display settings on your computer.

It was overall epic and I recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality VGA cable. - Vga Cable - Computer Cables - Monitor Cables - Monitor Cable'

Head Messager - energy, scalp

I love The Tingler! Each metal tip feels great. I personally like the COPPER version a little better than the SILVER version. It's a little gentler and softer but I know some people find it too soft and like the SILVER version instead. Before the tingler, sometimes I would use one end of my glasses (the end that fits over the ear) but of course my glasses are fragil and I would risk damaging them. It also feels really good on the back and actually all over, not just on the head. There are mixed reviews for this product because not too many of us can tickle ourselves and really feel it, although I can, and a much larger percentage of people can really feel it when another does the tickling. However, about 1/3 really enjoy being tickled according to a survey. Interesting.

Always saw them at the mall and wanted one, it was nice to be able to get it on here and not have to search, works great! feels wonderful!!! especially when you get that headache!!!, also doubles as a contemporary hat!! haha, love it.

How can such a small massager do big things? The name, so appropriately given, creates goosebumps on your arms as it massages your head. We love to use the Tingler on our boys before they go to bed at night - it has a calming effect and helps go right off to La La Land. Who doesn't love to get their head massaged? To get the most out of it, definately have someone else use the Tingler on you vs. you doing it yourself. It's way more relaxing and you can focus on how incredible it feels. Try it, you'll like it!

I disagree with the earlier poster on this one... The tingler is *great*. My wife loves it! If it wasn't "tingly" then you probably need to invest a few minutes in adjusting the tines to be a bit looser. A definte "must buy" item in our book.

I ordered this item after using a similar product while visiting relatives in Europe. Sadly, I don't know what type they had, but it was actually amazing - substantially better than "The Tingler."

The item ships flat - trying to get the prongs to a usable position is a challenge to say the least. The metal bends so easily and doesn't stay in place during use. The knobs as the end of the prongs actually hurt. Basically, save your money, and find a better version...one which actually feels good!

I purchased this head tingler for my mother as a Mother's Day gift. Though it originally worked great. After only a day a prong had fallen out, and today (about week after she received it). All of the prongs have fallen out, and can't be put back in. Currently I'm seeking a refund for the product. I wouldn't recommend buying this.

I had tried out a friend's head tingler years ago and loved it! I finally decided to look around and find one for myself. I didn't realize there were several to choose from. I read the reviews on the different ones available and decided to go with this one. It is just what I was looking for. It's a good looking, quality product that is well made and easy to "assemble". It feels great and there is no hair snagging like some of the other products out there. I'll probably buy a couple of these around Christmas time for family gifts, everyone needs one! - Massager - Scalp - Energy - The Tingler'
