Kindle Lighted Leather Cover - kindle accessory, kindle lighted cover

I've noticed that like myself customers have been concerned primarily with two things regarding the new lighted case from amazon. These are: 1)The weight and 2) The uneven lighting. My review will briefly discuss these two things.

1)The Weight - The lighted leather case is a nice weight, sturdy and comfortable to hold. In ounces it is about the weight of the kindle itself however don't let that concern you. With the case on it feels like a medium sized paperback, however it is far much more comfortable to hold. It's easy to hold the case open like a book (nice for couch and table type reading) or to fold the front back and close it with the bungee so that the bungee doesn't hang around (this is good for bedtime reading).Closing the front back with bungee keeps the case folded in position and you don't have to worry about it bothering you. BTW THIS CASE FOLDS BACK 100% - Very comfortable. In sum very comfortable to read with the case and very sturdy.

2) The uneven lighting - Amazon's pictures don't do this case justice. The light hits the ENTIRE screen. Yes if you look closely it's brighter in the top right corner then in the bottom left but Amazon's pics make it look the top is lighted while the bottom is dark. There is good light all over the screen. Trust me I'm fussy about these things - the lighting will not bother you, your entire screen will be lighted and it is extremely pleasant to read in the dark.

*Final Thoughts - Great case, good quality, works well, kindle feels very secure and protected (I would feel comfortable slipping this case into my backpack or suitcase and I think it would sustain some mild impact). Lastly hinges are a non-issue, casing of the kindle will not get damaged with normal or even slightly aggressive use. You could damage the kindle by trying to pull the back of the case but you'd have to really force it to cause any sort of damage to your kindle. The hinges work fine and should not be a concern to any case user.

Update 1st December 2010:

Have now been using the case for 3 months. Leather still looks impeccable. Some people expressed concern that the bungee cord might loosen with use. I have not experienced any loosening so far. Quality of the product has proven outstanding. I've occasionally spilled or messed the cover, just a wipe with a damp cloth has cleaned it up, and the case looks like new. Have to admit I enjoy the feel of the case in my hand, there's just something great about taking your kindle to a coffee shop in this case, it just looks and feels so classy. Also with regard to the hinges: I have had no scratches on my kindle or any other issues, so I remain convinced that the hinges are a non issue. Kindle Lighted Leather Cover, Black (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)

I was hesitant to buy this cover mostly due to the pictures in its listing, which seem to show a light that doesn't even extend to the opposite corner. The fact that I have not been impressed with the Amazon's Kindle covers in the past didn't help. I went ahead and purchased it because the cover I wanted isn't available yet and I don't like to take my Kindle out and about without a cover. Now I am glad that I went ahead and bought it.

PROS:

1. The light is much better than I thought it would be. Using it in a darkened room I found that the light did the job very well. In a pitch black room, it performs even better. While the screen corner opposite the light is a bit dimmer than other areas, there is no problem reading the page at all.

2. The light gets its power from the Kindle itself, through the gold-plated hinges which attach it to the cover, so batteries are a thing of the past. When your Kindle goes to sleep, the light will go out as well. It will also turn off when you slide it back into the case.

3. The cover is slim, well-fitted and very easy to attach and detach using the hinges. The inside has good padding. The leather outer surface has a nice pebbled texture with the exception of a smooth area along the edge of the front. While stiff enough to protect the reader, the cover is slight flexible and the front easily folds behind when reading so you can hold your Kindle with one hand if you like.

4. A great plus is that the cover has an elastic cord that fits into a groove on the front of it. This holds your cover closed (unlike the original Kindle 2 cover that would flop open in your purse & let things slide into it) and easily distinguishes the front from the back--important as many owners of the Kindle 2 cover accidentally opened it from the back, which could cause cracking along the Kindle's spine.

CONS:

I haven't found any, really. The light Is a bit hard (stiff) to pull out of the cover, but then you wouldn't want it to be flopping out when you don't want to use it so that is more of a Pro than a Con.

The one concern I do have is about pulling the light in and out--I wonder if whatever wiring or conductor that is used to get the power from the hinges to the light will eventually break. But that is something to find out down the road. Right now, the more I use this cover, the more I like it. - Kindle 3 Covers - Book Light - Kindle Lighted Cover - Kindle Accessory'

Skull Candy - good value, cushioned

Note: These have an excellent, no-hassle warranty. Skullcandy will replace them for any reason, whenever - just go to their website, register your product, and fill out the warranty form.

Firstly, I want to mention a few important tidbits that I think you should know.

1. Pay attention to the L and R on these earbuds, which can be hard to see. Do not reverse them, as doing so can affect fit and sound quality.

2. Don't assume you know which gel size will fit you best; make sure you try on all 3 gel sizes that come with these, as using the wrong size can dramatically decrease sound quality and comfort. For myself, I automatically went with the smallest size because my ears are small, but those made the earbuds sound like cheap garbage. It wasn't until I tried the next size up did I get the full quality of sound that these are designed for. So pay attention to this, since it really matters.

3. These have a straight plug, not an L-shaped plug. So you will need to be extra careful as a straight-plug design increases the amount of pressure both on the plug, and the headphone jack of your player. This leads to frayed wires or a loosening of the headphone jack, or both, which ultimately lead to the classic problem of only one side having sound.

4. The cord is long - measures approximately 4 feet, 5 inches.

5. Burn-in works with these. Slightly.

Now, as for the build quality - I'm impressed. They are not cheaply made ear-buds, despite their low price. The wires are nice and solid, and feel very well made - not flimsy or plastic-y. The silicone gels (tips that go in your ear) are very soft and pliable, and even have the Skullcandy logo engraved on them. Nice touch.

They feel good, too. Really good. Both the material, and the way they fit my annoyingly small ears. And they don't fall out constantly, although I do sometimes get the sensation that it's getting sucked into my left ear.

And yes, these come with 3 different size gels.

Sound is great. These handle bass extremely well for mid-tier earbuds, and highs aren't so shrill and piercing as with other comparable brands. Some of this really depends on your player, too. Even between iPods, sound quality does differ.

As far as functionality goes, I find I am able to run with these with no problem. The wires do not get tangled, and you can easily adjust the split in them with an attached slider (that has 'Skullcandy' written on it in the corresponding colour), which I find very convenient. I do not hear this thumping sound that others claim to hear from wire-movement, so I can't confirm that.

The only things I dislike are the straight plug, and the lack of a case. Otherwise, I am thoroughly impressed with Skullcandy. The craftsmanship, the quality of sound, and all the little extras that Skullcandy does that really lets you know that they are paying attention, and that they care about their products and end-users.

Worth every penny. Skullcandy INK'd Earbuds S2INCZ-035 (Blue)

Purchased the headphones about a week ago and I'm very pleased. I previously had the JVC Marshmallows and loved those headphones, but one of the earbud sleeves came off and the new JVC's are designed differently so I decided to give these a try. They produce very clear sound with solid bass. I was also surprised by the fit on the silicon caps that come with these. I have a difficult time finding silicon caps that will stay in my ear so I usually stick to foam, but these headphones came with three different sizes of caps and the smallest size fits and stays in without a problem. I will also say that I bought the Comply Foam Tips recently and am currently using those on these headphones (since I already had them) but once these wear out then I will stick with the silicon tips that came with these headphones because they will probably last longer. All in all, great purchase!

I purchased my Skullcandy Ink'd ear buds almost two years ago, and now that I need to lay them to rest I thought I would write a review on them.

First off, don't think that they are cheaply made because mine broke. From what I have been reading, two years is a good deal of time to have working headphones, especially at the low price of under 20 bucks! If I have to say, I provably contributed to the heavy wear of the jack that plugs into my computer (it is in the front of my laptop, so when the computer slides close to my lap the jack gets pinched).

Construction:

--

Being my first pair of non-stock earphones, I don't really have much to say in terms of construction, but as previously mentioned they lasted a helluva long time, so that should carry some weight. Speaking of weight, these buds feel light, but not so much that they feel cheap. Even after a couple of years the wires are intact, and I have had no problems with them up until a couple days ago (one ear bud stopped working, probably due to abuse). The only problem I would say has carried any weight in this department has to be the the fact that the rubber coated wires make a noticable sound through the buds when tapped or rustled (almost sounds like a heartbeat). This could probably be fixed with some comply foam tips instead of the stock silicone ones.

Sound Quality:

--

I listen to a variety of music genres through these things, and I can safely say that the sound quality is great across the spectrum. Anything from the highs and mids from classical to the deep undulating bass from dub-step can be heard clearly. They might not hold in a battle against some $100+ buds, but for this price they are awesome.

All in all, I am rating the Ink'd buds a 4/5, only because of the sound producing wires (see 'Construction'). If I could give it a 4.5 I would. - Earbuds - Good Value - Comfortable - Cushioned'

Pc Vga To Tv Converter - pc to tv converter, pc vga to tv converter

I receive the vga to hdmi converter 3 0r 4 days ago. Hooked it up to my 32 inch lcd tv. Had to select 1280x720 so my tv would pick it up. That resolution effects was very blurry on the pc, hurt my eyes. On the tv, picture was not worth watching because of the blurriness. Too much straining of the eyes. Going to send it back to Amazon. This can happen on your lcd tvs. Save yourself some money and spend it on a LCD that has a Video INPUT. Just connect a vga cable so it can connect to your pc and the other end to the lcd tv, YOU BE GLAD YOU DID. VGA and Audio to HDMI Converter Computer PC VGA Video + 3.5mm Audio to 1080P HDMI HDTV Converter Adapters Box

Did everything that it was advertised to do, couldn't beat the amazon price such a great price, compared this with other compatiable devices which were simliar to this one, This is a hands down winner

I highly recommend it

I have spend too many hours trying to get this device working with my computer and plasma 42 inch screen and gave up.

When the computer starts with the device connected to the plasma tv, it starts showing the Windows XP Professional logo beautifully and once the mouse arrow should come into movement, the PC VGA Video Device stops working on TV screen and the notebook takes over.

I have tried with the video setting at all diferent resolutions. The ATI Video Card has many settings and nothing seems to work.

All Toshiba Satellite Notebooks have the "Function Key" which works great with videobeams.

You press the "Fn" key and holding this key press F5 and you can choose if you want one or both screens to show.

At this moment, I feel very frustrated with the device and have no phone to call since the device is Chinesse and most of the instructions are in Mandarin.

I am presently in Costa Rica, Central America and international cost per minute is 35 cents to USA.

Can somebody help me recommending a reliable or more standard device? or providing me with a viable solution? Txs

This product did not work with my Panasonic Viera HDTV. I'm not sure what the cause of the compatibility problems are. When my laptop was hooked up to the TV, I could see the Windows startup screen but as soon as I booted up Windows, I couldn't get anything from the laptop screen to show up on the TV screen again. I tried manipulating my laptop's video card settings to align with the TV's settings, but still no luck. Eventually, after hours of reading up on the internet, I had to give up. Fortunately, amazon.com took the product back and refunded me in whole. Silver lining. - Pc Vga To Tv Converter - Pc To Tv Converter'

Notebook Power Adapters - adapter, travel

AUUUUGH!!!

After hours of rattling through website after website, learning the difference between a converter and an adapter, having a crash course in watts and volts and hertz and computers and hair dryers and coming to the brink of insanity because, it seems, there isn't a website in existence that gives enough information about these accessories to learn what a 4-second encounter with the actual item in its package in a brick and mortar store would tell you (for instance: CAN I STICK MY COMPUTER PLUG INTO THE DAMN THING?!), I found this beauty. Here. And all my questions appeared to have been answered. So I, being the trusting soul that I am, purchased it.

Well, I didn't know what I didn't know until the product arrived.

Now I know what I didn't know.

I am livid.

THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR PLUGS THAT HAVE 3 PRONGS!

NOT EVEN IF YOU PRAY REALLY HARD!

NOT EVEN IF YOU SACRIFICE A GOAT.

NOT EVEN IF YOU TRY IT ON A BOAT.

IT WILL NOT WORK WITH THEM ON A TRAIN

IT WILL NOT WORK WITH THEM ON A PLANE

IT WILL NOT WORK WITH 3-PRONGED PLUGS

IT WILL NOT VACUUM ANY RUGS.

Back it goes, to the place where junky products (that more information would have saved me the trouble of purchasing) go.

With PC Mover and that other adapter I bought from Dell (the one that was also, obviously, manufactured in a world where all the plugs have 2 prongs).

Did I mention AUUUUUGH!!!!!

So.

On the off chance that this review will not get buried under the pile of reviews written by people with, apparently, no 3-pronged devices, I submit it to Amazon with a prayer for all of those people who are lucky enough to own portable computers or other electronics that come with 3-pronged plugs AND who are fortunate enough to be embarking on some sort of international travel:

BUY THE BELKIN UNIVERSAL JOBBIE...THE WHITE ONE.

(it's probably above this review in the place where other recommended products live. The Belkin comes from a world where 3-pronged devices exist and are plentiful, roaming the land with their electronic devices in tow, happily converting electricity from 120 to 240 and back again as they enrich their owner's lives with electronic goodness.)

Thanks for reading.

I don't know about you, but I feel better now. Kensington 33117 International All-in-One Travel Plug Adapter

If you travel overseas you will definitively love this adapter. Unlike other travel adapters that have several pieces that you need to carry around, this has all the plug connectors integrated into one compact self contained cylindrical unit in which you select the type of plug used in the country you are visiting. Absolutely the most practical unit I have used. It is also safe to use since it has a built-in fuse.

This may seems obvious but you need to know that this device does not convert the voltage so don't plug your electronic devices unless its power units states that the Input voltage ranges from 110 to 240 VAC @ 50-60 Hz (probably the most common around Europe, Asia and America).

Absolutely a most have if you travel with your laptop, digital camera, cell phone and other suitable devices.

used 2 of these while we were on vacation in egypt for 3 weeks. Never had a problem and they were flawless. To the gent that noted they fell out of the socket on him and they were to big...I can only say if you don't push them all the way in they and any other device you use will fall out...and there big because they can be used in th EU, Japan, Africa, US, ect... if you wish to spend the money on an all inclusive solution and travel to various parts of the world...then this is a good choice rather than having a hodge podge of adaptors lying about.

I bought this item for my trip to China. It did not work. Luckily the hotels that we stayed in had an adapter we could use. I called Kensington about my adapter, and they said I could return it and would refund my money since they have a 90 day return policy. I bought the adapter in September and sent it certified mail within their time frame. This is currently January and have not heard from them. My advise to those thinking of using it for China. Don't waste your money on this item.

Read the fine print on this -- this product does not convert or reduce electrical voltage -- essentially what this does is provide a physical way for (insert your country's) plug to fit into (insert destination country's) plug. So if the country you are visiting runs on, say, 220, make sure that the device you want to plug into it can handle the 220 volts so that it doesn't blow up -- and that information will (typically) be handily located on the device itself (i.e., look at the small print on your phone charger, and see if it says 100-240V 50-60Hz)

I've used this adaptor to run my laptop in China, France, Italy, England, and Ireland. Although it's made of plastic and feels a little fragile, it's really quite hardy and it's worked like a charm in every location. I've purchased several as gifts and always been treated as a hero afterwards.

One popular (and funny) one-star review on here claims that the adaptor doesn't work with grounded plugs. That's 100% wrong. It works with them in a hotel, it works with them in a motel. It worked with them in France, and when I used it to iron my pants. (Well to plug in my iron, anyway.) I've never used it on a boat, but it helped my computer write a note.

Okay so I'm not as funny as he is. But this thing really works. - Travel - Adapter - Converter - Power Plug Adapter'

Wireless Mouse - logitech, mouse

I received my mouse about a week ago, and have been putting it through the rounds. Before using this mouse, my main gaming mouse was the Logitech G7. It was a really great mouse for its time.

Compared to the G7, the G700 has a much better feel to it. The surface is rough, instead of smooth and slick like the G7, so all your finger gunk doesn't get on there. All of the buttons on the G700 can be identified just by feeling them. They seem very natural to click.

The accuracy of this mouse is insane. I use it at 1000 reports/sec on max gaming power mode. Usually with a new mouse it takes time to get used to it, but this mouse just seemed so natural to me that I got used to it right away. It's slightly better than the G7, but it's *much* more consistent/reliable in its movement than the Performance mouse MX (which I use on my laptop). I mostly play league SC2 (diamond 1v1) so this is very important to me.

The battery lasts 3-5 hours in this max gaming mode before you have to plug in the usb cable. At this point, it becomes a wired mouse instead of a wireless mouse. I kind of miss the old G7 design where you would just swap batteries all the time, so it would be wireless full time. You can do that with this mouse too I suppose, since it takes a normal AA battery. You just have to buy some rechargeable AA batteries and charge some while you're playing. Logitech Wireless Gaming Mouse G700

I purchased this mouse due to my LOVED G7 mouse not working in games with Win7 and available Setpoint! First why the G7 wouldn't work is still being checked by Logitech's crack tech support staff; cough, cough; seems most corrective actions to try came directly from Customers in the customer forum on Logitech's site. First this mouse is much heavier and a bit awkward to use compared to the G7. I liked the new Setpoint but it would keep losing the mouse setup and wouldn't work correctly in many popular games. The charging system compared to the G7 takes to long and the USB cable makes a cumbersome mouse even more so. The USB charging cable is heavy and stiff. The G7 had swappable batteries! This system is great and so easy to use on the fly. When the the G700 Battery is close to running out. Connect USB charging cable to mouse, BAM the mouse forgets everything and nothing works. Charging through USB takes far too long and you better hope you are using an USB connection on your system that has enough power to do so. Even if I left the battery charging over night it never seemed to last more than 2 hours tops with heavy use. I tried two different G700's and same issues. Going from USB wired mode to wireless and the mouse would again lose all settings.

I tried two of the G700's and both had same issues. Logitech tech support system is pretty good and they get back to you quickly but it always seems like they are grasping at straws and using the customer forum as their answer center. I spent far too much of my time trying to correct issues that I should have with this product. I will add I also bought the Logitech G930 and G510 and had issues with both of them as well and received the same level of tech support. All items have been returned. It is too bad I love G7 and have many other Logitech products that I have been extremely happy with

So I love this mouse. While it is not adjustable, I find it extremely comfortable and perfect in weight. My only complaint is logitech's refusal to support OSX. Luckily the mouse is still programable and useable. You basically have two options:

1. use ControllerMate or Steermouse to program the mouse.

2. Program it with the Windows software (assuming you have VMWare or dual-boot) and save the config to one of the 3 profiles stored on the on-board memory.

As there is no "command" key with windows you have to use either "alt" or "ctrl", so, for example, copy would be "ctrl-C" rather than "command-C"

When booted into OSX go to "system preferences:Keyboard" and click on the modifier keys button.

Find the mouse "listed as both G700 and USB receiver, you need to do this to both" and tell the mouse to interpret either "ctrl or alt" keypreses as commands.

Previously, I was using a Razer Mamba (two of them actually, one for me and one for my fiance). Those mice, regardless of firmware, always had problems with losing connection for a split second or the mouse jumping across the screen. I even had the mouse right next to the docking station/wireless antenna and it still had the problems.

This Logitech mouse though, I have the receiver half way across the room (10ft away probably) and right next to two routers (5Ghz and 2.4Ghz) and it works perfectly! Not one single mouse jump or connection loss.

Additionally, I love the fact this mouse not only comes with a rechargeable battery but the fact it is a AA. If I am getting low, I can just find another AA and throw it in quickly to continue playing then let the rechargeable battery charge later. Add to that, you can go days without having to recharge this mouse with 8+ hours a day heavy usage (between work and games). The Mamba would only get a days charge tops.

The free spinning scroll wheel is an awesome touch that I have looked forward to from other Logitech mice and more so the fact that there is an easy access button to change it to a click scroll wheel.

The other great thing with this mouse is the software. Now, I know some people don't particularly like Setpoint software and maybe my opinion is based on having used the Razer software for so long, however, the software seems less bloated and quick to respond over anything I have used before. Again, this opinion is probably based on the fact that the Razer software too minutes and special hoops to jump through before it would update settings on the mouse wireless. I had to flip the Mamba upside down so the sensor wouldn't activate while changing setting and would take up to 30 seconds before the mouse would become responsive again.

That said, I do have a few cons for this device.

First, while the weight is great as is for me, I can understand that this mouse might not be the right weight for some. The idea of not incorporating a weight system is a little disappointing, but it does not directly effect me.

Second, I really miss the docking station for my Mamba. The fact I had to charge that mouse everyday was made easier by the fact I could just throw it on a stylish dock. Still, if you have a traditional desk setup you could zip tie the Logitech charge cable off somewhere for easy access. My setup is on the couch so it's not as easy.

All in all, the only con for me is the lack of a dock which is a small price to pay for a precise gaming mouse. I would recommend this mouse to anyone on the fence, especially if considering the Mamba. - Wireless Mouse - Laser Mouse - Mouse - Logitech'

Fertility Awareness - fertility, ovulation

I bought this thermometer about a month ago and have been using it to take my basal body temperature every morning. I think it is a wonderful product. Although some reviews said the beep was annoying, I think it is actually a very important feature. It beeps to let you know it is placed correctly. I sure like the peace of mind when I hear that. The display is lit and very easy to read.

I can not believe that someone said she had to run into bathroom to check her temp, because she did not want to wake her husband. Come on! The beep is not loud at all. And..didn't she know that basal temp should be taken the first thing in the morning without any unnecessary movements? I think husbands should actually help wives take basal temp by inserting the thermometre into their wives' mouths. This way, we can reduce our movements to minimum! My husband does this for me everyday!

One more suggestion for those who want to keep your latest result in the thermometre's memory for more than one reviewing. Whenever you turn on the thermometre to review the result, turn it off BEFORE the display begins to flash. After it flashes, it will become blank and ready for your next test. Your last temp will not be there any more. As long as you shut it off before it flashes, your latest result will always be there till you take your basal temp next time.

By the way, 1/10 degree F is precise enough for basal temp. Non-basal temp thermometres are 2/10. 1/100 is not necessary at all since on basal temp chart, we only record like 97.6, 98.2...

Hope this helps. I like this thermometre very much. Hope you will like it too. BD Digital Basal Thermometer

I've tried the Omron (Walmart) which died after using it about a month, and also the CVS pharmacy brand (2 of them) both of which were DOA and had to replace batteries only to have them die a week later! YES, a WEEK!! I couldn't find the BD brand anywhere and had to buy it online and boy am I so glad I did! Yes it beeps. But I'm so glad it does. When I take my temp I'm usually half asleep still and with the other thermometers I never knew if it was working. I was always waiting for the finishing beep and half the time the battery was half dead so 10 minutes later the thermometer was still in my mouth! And if you know when using a BBT you shouldn't really move around, so I didn't want to take out the thermometer and check to see if it was working only to have to start all over again! It was soo annoying! But I LOVE this thermometer! It's great and it's the one that the Taking Charge of Your Fertility recommends!

I got this BBT thermometer about 4 months ago. It works wonderfully. The best part is that the display is lit, so those of us that get up early, don't have to turn the light on. Also, it keeps the most recent temp. in it's memory, so you don't have to write down the temp right away. It's great.

First of all, I really love this thermometer and all that it has to offer. The continuous beeps really do help to know that the thermometer is in the proper position. It normally takes me less than 30 seconds to get a reading and its great that it beeps when its done. The memory recall feature is definitely a plus, esp. when I'm still too drowsy to remember the temp, and the back light feature is equally great. I think this is one of the only thermometers with a backlight. I've been using it with success for the FAM for almost two years know. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I've been reading the complaints that people have and a lot of them aren't valid or easily solved. Here they are:

PROBLEM 1: This thermometer can't be used as a basal thermometer or to track fertility because it doesn't record to the 1/100th (like 97.39) of a degree.

Answer: FALSE!! Tony Weschler, states in her latest edition "Taking charge of your fertility", a groundbreaking book on the subject of the Fertility Awareness method (and in turn NFP)--just look at the reviews on it here on amazon, on page 76 "Also, it is imperative that it be accurate to within 1/10th degree F. (for example, 97.4), BUT DO NOT USE THOSE THAT MEASURE TO WITHIN 1/100TH of a degree (for example, 97.47) since the latter are unnecessary and confusing." (emphasis added)

-------

PROBLEM 2: The beeps are WAY too loud. They annoy me and wake up my spouse.

Answer: I personally don't find them to be too loud and neither does my husband, but if you do, on the back of the thermometer there is a small hole for the sound. When you're taking your temperature. Simply take your thumb and lay it straight down the back side of the thermometer while it is in your mouth, so that the hole is covered up. I found that this will SIGNIFICANTLY decrease the volume to a quiet, muffled, beep. You can even wrap your index finger around the top part of the thermometer (where it says BD) to give your your thumb some more resistance to press up against, muffling the sound some more.

-------

PROBLEM 3: The back light doesn't come on when it's done taking my temperature.

Answer: When it's done taking your temperature, press the button to turn off the thermometer. The back light will turn on again, revealing your temperature before it shuts off.

-------

PROBLEM 4: For the memory recall feature, the reading doesn't stay on long enough for me to be able to record the reading, and then it is erased.

Answer: When you turn the thermometer on, your last temperature will be displayed for about 4 seconds. If you turn the thermometer off again before it starts taking a new temperature (when it starts to flash), your temperature will actually still be stored on the recall feature. So when you turn it on again next time, it will still be there and continue to be there however many times you do this. Also if the 3 seconds you had before you pushed the off button weren't enough for you to see your temperature, you'll notice that you'll get an extra 5 sec's to read your temp when you press the off button before it finally shuts off.

I hope this helps! - Fertility - Ovulation - Basal Thermometer - Natural Family Planning'

Lithium-ion - 18 volt, cordless

We go through a lot of cordless drills and had a lot of problems with the nicad batteries on the Milwaukee 18v drills and with the gearboxes of the Makitas (partly from operator misuse) and with the lithium-ion we decided to give the DeWalt drills a try. Very happy we did as they have a lot of power and 3-speed gearboxes. The hammer action is good enough for a 3/8" hole and the torque is good enough for even a 6" hole saw if it is one of the new kinds with the deep slots (Big Hawg and Blue Boar TCT).

Chuck is hard to untighten at first but it holds better than any other chuck I have used. The battery is the largest of any of our drills and also weighs more but gives a lot of power and lasts and lasts. Charge time is good and with the long life of the batteries I get through the day with only the original battery and seldom need to use the spare.

Side handle can be tightened in any position like the Bosch and Makita drills which I like but deWalt does not include a depth rod like Makita or a way to attach one later.

Buy this drill if you want the most powerful 18 volt drill around. Also has 2-year battery warranty. DEWALT DCD760KL 18-Volt 1/2-Inch Cordless Compact Lithium-Ion Drill/Driver Kit

I was looking forward to trying this drill/driver out. I wasn't disappointed. I enjoy the light weight for a 18v drill/driver. The battery last a long time. Though I didn't know that Li-Ion batteries just stopped turning the drill instead of slowing down like a Ni-Cad battery does. This was my first Li-Ion drill. However, it doesn't cause a problem, just pop the other battery in and keep going.

The only thing that caused me a problem at first was the brake for the drill motor. If I didn't securely tighten the bits, meaning tightening the drill bit, etc. at a high clutch setting, after a few times of using the drill/driver the bit would come loose. The brake stopped the drill motor so well that the chuck would open and the bit would be loose. I would expect that as the brake wears a little it might not stop the motor so quickly and it won't be a problem. However, I wouldn't want this option changed. It is nice to have it stop that quickly.

Our crews use a lot of different makes of cordless drills and when they need one from the shop they used to grab one of the Makitas but now their first choice is the DeWalt DCD970 drill. The DeWalt deliver a lot more power over a longer period of time. Part of this is their having the biggest (and heaviest) lithium ion battery and part of it is the 3 speed gearbox.

We use the Hole Pro adjustable hole cutters a lot and the low speed setting is perfect for good cutting speed and having enough power to cut 8-1/4" holes in TJI or plywood. The middle speed we have learned makes for smoother cutting with hole saws though we have switched to using Blue Boar TCT hole cutters 90% of the time. We can easily cut 6" holes in inch thick plywood with an 18 volt cordless and the very efficient Blue Boar hole cutters.

Hole Pro X-230 Kit: 1-7/8" to 9" and all fractional sizes in between. Infinitely Adjustable Cutter with Twin Tungsten Carbide Blades needs ¼ drill power of a hole saw to quickly cut Plywood Sheetrock Plaster Fiberglass OSB Plastic MDF Hardie Board

Blue Boar TSF-12 - 12 Piece Tungsten Carbide Deep Hole Saw Kit - Cut 10x Faster, 3x Larger, and 40x more holes per battery charge versus bi-metal hole saws in wood, chipboard, plaster, MDF, cement board, etc. Deep side slots for fast plug removal

The DCD760 has only two speeds but a strong gearbox and an excellent chuck. The DeWalt drills are the only ones that never seem to loosen while drilling or hammering. The Makita and Hitachi are easily the worst chucks and we only use them to drive screws. Don't be mislead by either the power ratings or recharge times from the manufacturers' marketing departments. If you want to compare two DeWalt or two Makita or two Milwaukee against each other they are OK but the are worthless for comparing two drills from different companies.

Recharge times are also a bit of a con. Faster recharge times means hotter batteries and this is not good for the batteries. With lithium ion batteries they can even catch fire. Makita states a 15 minute recharge time but in the manual it also recommends at least a 30 minute cool down period before you take the battery off the charger. We have found that the bigger the battery and the more efficient the hole cutter or drill bit or screw fastener the longer the drill lasts on the job and the fewer spare batteries we need. Before we switched to the Blue Boar hole cutters we used to take 6 batteries to a job and now we only take two and often never use the second one.

The DCD760 is all the average home DIY guy or gal will likely ever need but for pro use the DCD970 is worth the extra cost and weight. You get a pro grade gearbox and clutch and very good batteries (but with half the warranty period of the yellow ones on the high end drills from DeWalt).

I've been using Dewalt drills for the last 8 years for my job, but never bought one myself because I always had access to my work tools. Now I no longer have access to my tools all the time, and I decided to purchase a drill for my own. Compared to Ni-Cad batteries these Li-On batteries have some advantages. One is weight, its about 1/3 to 1/4 as heavy as the Ni-Cad. Their size is also an advantage, being slightly smaller, you can get the drill into positions and areas you have have had difficulty before with a Ni-Cad 18v.

As far as performance however, I see some problems. I've never had NEW Ni-Cad batteries, but these Li-On seem to have no performance degradation over their charge life; they go 100% until they are done. And when they are done, they stop. Thats it. No slowing, no signs nothing to let you know the battery is not 100% ready. This makes it hard to tell if your battery is charged enough for the job. It could go 5 mins it could last an hour. No way to know. They also seem to stop have a shorter charge life than Ni-Cads I've used. Just drilled 24 3/8 holes into treated 4x4's and it needed a new battery after 18. It might just be the new Li-Ons need some break in time, but it was still a bit disappointing.

But for the price, and for use in light duty house work, this is doing well. - Dewalt - 18 Volt - Compact - Cordless'
