Water Filtration - water filtration, kenmore

It seems there are a LOT of misuderstandings in these reviews. If you own a Sears refridgerator it IS a Whirlpool, or Kitchen Aid, or whatever else with a "Kenmore" name plate on it. Sears doesn't make their appliances and they purchase appliance from varios companys and put their "Kenmore" brand on it. I have a Whirlpool fridge, Whirlpool dishwaher, and GE microwave. They all say Kenmore and the stainless stell matches perfectly. A Sears sales rep will tell you who makes the specific unit. This is true for Kenmore washers & dryers as well, all appliance. Secondly, Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Kenmore, etc. do not make the filters. Sears, Whirlpool, etc. sell the filter with their markings on it. PUR make the filter. This is not a cheaper replacement for the filter, it is the same filter. I have been using PUR filters bought on-line for 5 years now and it is the same filter that came in the refridgerator when I bought it. The only thing to keep in mind is that the "universal PUR Filter", that fits all push button, in the grill units, does not have the same filtration as the the specific PUR filter that comes with the fridge. For example the "Universal" filter is about $26 on Amazon and my fridge came with a PUR 4396710 which cost about $32 on Amazon. Both will work, but the $32 unit filters out about 11 types of impurities, the $26 unit is 4 types. I buy the 4396710 to protect my 2 year old and wife. What is $7 more when it's your family's health. They are about $50 each at Sears.

I hope this information helps clear up some misconceptions and helps people make an educated decision on what to buy. PUR PBSS Push-Button Refrigerator Water Filter

If you go to PUR's website, you'll find that this filter handles only 4 problem areas: (chlorine, sediment, lead, o-dichlorobenzene).

The more expensive #4396710 Kitchenaid/Whirlpool deals with 11 problem areas (the side of the box lists all these in detail: (chlorine, particulates, lead, mercury, benzene, o-dichlorobenzene, toxaphene, asbestos, cysts, turbidity, atrazine).

The strange thing is that the PUR website only seems to show the cheaper filter and its attendant 4 areas of filtering. It may just be my ineptness, but I couldn't find the other better filter on their website.

My wife, wanting the best water, always opts for the more expensive filter. It's around $60 in local area markets. I just ordered one from Amazon a couple of weeks ago for $35 delivered; other internet dealers carry it for around the same price.

First time changing filter. Not sure if all do this, but when i changed, we had extremely high pressure. Im guessing it was acting like there wasnt a filter in at all. Caused water to keep flowing a bit (without pressing).

After that strangeness, took about 6 pitchers to get airbubbles out of filter, etc.

Kenmore and Whirlpool are the samer thing more or less. Works fine now its been in use.

Definately cheaper than getting the kenmore one

I normally have a tough time finding a filter to fit my Kenmore fridge. Sears is great, but there are none close by to me now. This filter fits perfectly (even though it says Whirlpool) and works great. Ice and water taste so much better than the water straight out of the tap.

Only wish is that Amazon sold them in a 2 pack (since they need changing every 6 months) or subscription.

Quite simply, this works just the same as the Kenmore filter and costs a lot less money. By the way, a service man told us that even this filter is good for twice the use that the light on the refrigerator suggests. Just reset the light and you keep on using it. We've done this and noticed no degrading of taste or water flow.

I purchased this filter for my Kenmore side-by-side, which I got from Sears in late 2007. The "official" part number for the water filter my fridge uses is 9030. It is a Pur brand filter.

This one is indeed the correct size/fit; and, as others have mentioned, is much cheaper than getting the one with the Kenmore brand stamped on it. Buy with confidence!

This product, made by PUR, fits Sears and Whirlpool referigerators.

The key to interchangeability is " push button " filter, in the lower, bottom grill.

Sears wants $50 and local Whirlpool retailler wants $40.

$29.99 is a much better price. Shipping might raise the price a little, but much cheaper than Sears shipping. I hope that this article is linked to the item that I bought, PUR PBSS filter.

I have a Kenmore, and buying the new cartridges through Sears was more expensive ($50/each + shipping). I'm guessing the filter through Sears is probably a higher quality filter, but for the price I think this one'll do! We've had no problems at all. - Kenmore - Pur - Water Filtration - Fridge Filter'

2009 Amazon Frustration-fre - bostich, finish nailers

What can you say about brads? Well unlike some of the off brand these feed evenly and work well! I bought some brad x from the local ACE store and they double and triple fired and jammed. If you have a Bostich gun stick to these. Bostitch BT1350B-1M 2-Inch 18-Gauge Brads, 1000 per Box

First of all, kudos to Tool King (TK) for the way they shipped these nails to me; the nails were shipped in bubble mailers, which is normal, but what TK gets credit for here, is that they wrapped each pack of nails in packing tape so even if the package was ruptured somehow the nails wouldn't go everywhere. So thanks for that guys.

They also had the best price at a buck cheaper than the local blue borg and free shipping. I bought one from the borg to hold me over and 5 packs from TK.

About the nails, they work great. No jams or misfires, just reliable shots every time, though this can also attest to the quality of the brad nailer I have, the Hitachi NT50AE2. A perfect match.

I use the 2" brads to hold together small butt-jointed paint grade boxes. I could probably go shorter, say 1 5/8" or even 1 3/4"; but to be honest the 2" brads were the cheapest and work perfectly fine for my use with no blowouts, misfires or jams, which can occur with nails of lesser quality.

I know a whole lot can't be said in a review about nails, but for the small things that count (shipment packaging and quality of the nails), these nails are great.

5 stars for the nails and Tool King, as well as the Hitachi NT50AE2, but that's another review... ;)

While 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" brads may seem suitable enough a range for most applications, I've found several situations where I need something just a bit longer than the 1 1/4" brads I normally use for joining 3/4" materials, but I don't want to risk punching through the second piece by using a 1 1/2" brad. Bostitch is the only company I've found that make these (1 5/8" brads too), and Lowe's no longer carries this length. If you, too, want/need this size, go for Bostitch quality; maybe purchase several packs to stock up. - Bostich - Finish Nailers - Brad Nails'

Iphone Speakers - usb speakers, ipod speakers

This is a review I left under my wifes name under "Altes-Lansing iM-237" review. I am also leaving it here for those of you who might need another speaker option.

After a long and lengthy research process here on Amazon, Youtube, and many other "review" sites, I narrowed it down to these two speakers. Unable to make up my mind, and didn't want to get buyers remorse, I decided to buy both.

The short version of this review is the Altec iM-237 is the winner here in my opinion. The reasons for this are in the "long version" to follow.

I recently recieved a Zune HD player (love it!). I am an active outdoorsman who spends alot of time hunting and fishing in remote areas, but love my music when I get back to camp. Hense, the need for a small, portable speaker.

If I,(you) were to buy the X-mini only, we would both be very happy and impressed with it. For such a small unit it really puts out nice sound. The built in rechargable battery is a nice option, but for me, in some of the areas I camp, I do not always have access to a 12volt charging source. It seems well built and the option of connecting these speakers with more speakers is another nice option I think. Like I said earlier, if I just bought this speaker, I would be happy, but when compared side by side with the Altec, big difference.

The Altec is larger than the X-mini, (little larger than a can of tuna), and comes with a nice, somewhat hardside case, the mini, a little cloth bag. The Altec is another well built speaker. This one runs on 3 aaa batteries which for me is more flexible than a rechargable unit. Run time has yet to be determined since I have not had these units long enough to find out.

I plugged the Altec into the X-Mini to make it easier to do my side by side comparison. I cranked up the volume and turned on the speakers, first the Mini. Wow, impressive, handles volume well, heck the dang thing vibrates all over table! a little tinny, mids were ok, bass was ok too. I turned down the Mini, which has its own volume control,(nice), and turned on the Altec, Wow times two!. It seem to fill the room with a much richer, deeper sound that was instantly noticable vs the Mini. I continued this back and forth, one on, one off experiment with a wide variety of music and it just kept confirming Altecs better sound. Actually, the best sound achieved was when I had both speakers on at the same time, incredible!

In conclusion, I think you would have to buy 2 Minis to out due the Altec, but if I was going to buy 2 units, I would buy another Altec and a splicer.

Hope this helps! X-Mini II Capsule Speaker-Red

I've had this speaker for about 2 months now and have used it almost daily. It comes with me to the kitchen, the backyard, the car, the hotel room... and I haven't had to recharge it yet! It is exactly what I wanted: tiny, uber-portable, good quality sound, easy to use. I almost never use my headphones now, which means that when my husband comes to keep me company while I'm cooking and I don't have to choose between my music or him!

It's important to note that while the sound quality is way better than one would expect from such a tiny machine, it serves its purpose and isn't a replacement for a high quality system. It plugs in easily to your MP3 player or computer, has its own cord keeper, and slips into a purse, backpack, briefcase, or suitcase.

I'm listening to it right now, enjoying Simon & Garfunkel while I fold laundry and work on email. Like I said, it's exactly what I wanted and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for portability, good sound, and ease!

I purchased four of the red and two of the black x-mini speakers this past May and July. The sound is great and they are very portable. I like to use the x-mini in my car with my iPod instead of using an FM transmitter connector. They worked fine for a few months and then three stopped playing after recharging.

Workaround: Based on another customer's comment on amazon.com about this problem, I plugged the x-mini into my PC's USB port and played my iPod through it. I discovered that after playing the iPod off the x-mini in this configuration for a few minutes, I was able to disconnect the x-mini (with the iPod still attached) from the PC and continue to play the iPod through the x-mini - the blue "on" light came on!

I looked through the material that came with the x-mini, and I don't see any troubleshooting or recovery info for this problem. Is there anything else I can do when the x-mini fails to play after charging that doesn't involve a PC or is this the best way to go? - Portable Speaker - Ipod Speakers - Usb Speakers - Portable Speakers'

Notebook Computer Bags - case logic, laptop backpacks

Although this Case Logic VNCi-116 Value 16-Inch Laptop Briefcase has a "Value" word in its name, everything about it exudes high quality.

This is the the kind of case that can zipper-open three sides of its rectangular case shape ; therefore it can easily accommodate my 17.3-inch HP DV7 notebook computer, even though it is meant for computers under 16 inches.

There is a large zippered side pocket that you can use to store the computer's AC adapter and cord, plus a few small items.

The case is well-padded all around to protect against bumps and is very light.

I highly recommend this 16-inch case if you want high quality and versatility but don't want to pay too much for it.

Comparison to another 16-inch case:

The Case Logic VNCi-116 design is in contrast to Case Logic VNA-216 16-Inch Laptop Attache (Black), where the zipper openning is merely ONE side of its rectangular shape. The VNA-216 will accommodate my 15.6-inch HP ProBook 5420s, but the fit is too snug for an effortless removal and storage of the computer. Because of the tight fit of this case, I would be very careful when taking a computer out of the case and when putting it in, for fear of the zippers scraping against the case edges of the computer. I deem the VNA-216 suitable only for computers smaller than 14 inches. You can check my review on this case on its web page at Amazon.com. Case Logic VNCi-116 Value 16-Inch Laptop Backpack(Black)

This bag is perfect for someone who just needs a basic laptop bag. My 16-inch laptop fits perectly in my bag and the other pouches offer plenty of additional space for batteries, power chords, and other accessories. The zippers slide smoothly and the bag strap is srong and durable when carrying the bag. The cost is very good as well, so this bag is highly recommended to even the casual laptop user.

If you want light, compact, case this is the best for the price. Great for carrying, light, very easy to place the laptop (Studio XPS 16), good zippers, exact space in extra pockets for ac adapter, battery a few cds.

If you expect a heavy duty case, this is not for you. Need to be careful, the protections are thin, so don't expect the bag to protect from a hard hit.

I ordered this Caselogic laptop case based on my prior experiences with Caselogic products and the price. I have had several other Caselogic cases over the years and have always been extremely pleased with the quality. Since I don't travel with my laptop that often, I didn't want to invest a lot of money on a case. I just wanted something to carry it safely on those few occasions when I do take it along on a trip. What I like about this case is that it is light weight and has extra compartments for storage, and it looks great. However, I was very disappointed with the lack of padding in the laptop compartment, and it only had one strap to hold the laptop in place, which was not centered. While my 15.6" Dell fits fine, it does wiggle around a little since it's only held in place by one velcro strap. The listing for the item said the laptop compartment was "heavily padded". This is not true. The padding is extremely thin. While the case will serve its purpose and give me a way to carry my laptop, I really wish there was more padding. If you want a laptop case that will actually protect the laptop, this is not the case for you. If you just want something stylish to carry your laptop around, this one is ok.

I am a fan of Caselogic. I have used several of their products and I am always satisfied with them. This is a nice laptop case and it has satisfied my use for it. You really can't go wrong with Caselogic.

This case is durable enough for heavy airport duty and seems well put-together. My only complaint is one balky zipper--not a deal-killer as the zipper and teeth both seem to be heavy-duty, and the zipper function is getting smoother with more use.

Bought this case for $20. It is perfect for me...just what I was looking for. It has lots of extra room for cords in the added compartment. My Dell 15R fits perfect in this. Not tight and wonderful for taking it in and out of the case...would buy one of these anyday. - Laptop Bag - Laptop Backpacks - Case Logic - 17 Inch Laptop Case'

Canon Battery - 7d, canon

Purchased battery for my 7D. Saved close to 60% from original price, and found it to be far more efficient then the Cannon version.

Charged up in my Cannon charger without issue, and upon installation, it showed the time remaining on the LCD screen. It actually presented more minutes than I had originally expected.

I will be more than happy to purchase more of this product as needed , based on the price being extremely low and service and delivery from New World was first rate without incident or problems.

Entire transaction went extremely smooth. Excellent, high quality company. New LP-E6 Replacement 'Intelligent' High Capacity Battery (2000Mah), Japan Cells - Lifetime Replacement Warranty

Knowing the original battery life of the genuine LP-E6 but not wanting to fork over full price for the real deal, I came across this aftermarket battery with good reviews and after much contemplation, I bought two.

I fully charged both new batteries before use with my OEM Canon charger. Inserted into camera, ok nice... works. What's not nice is after only one day of shooting, I almost exhausted BOTH batteries. Normal shooting, no long exposures, occasional live view shooting, no video, and not much chimping. After one day of shooting like this with one OEM LP-E6 battery, I'd still have half capacity left. Its really hard to kill an original Canon battery. Also, my camera got real hot where the battery compartment is, it's never done that before and I had to shut it off intermittently to let it cool down.

This battery is junk in my opinion, from my own experience. The fact that I bought two of these and they both had the same problem, warrants this review. It gets two stars instead of one only because they do charge in the Canon charger. I am returning both.

I wanted a battery that was chargeable by the original Canon charger and that the camera able to read it so I could be warned when the battery was running out. This battery was able to achieve both objectives while keeping the cost lower than Canon (to think I paid $80 for the Canon original last time!!). One time I did purchase a no name replacement battery and it could not be charged by the Canon charger and neither the 5D mark ii could read it and so I decided the no name battery could be used for the 7 inch HD monitor that I purchased for the 5D so I could use it for the video shoot.

I waited till I finished this battery out before I left a review. I was able to shoot videos and shoot quite a few pictures using the 5D mark ii and the 25-105 L series Canon lens with anti shake. I think the anti shake took more battery power than I expected as I got less pictures than I did when I used the 24-70mm L series Canon lens which did not have anti shake.

Overall I am pleased I was able to get a product that costs less than Canon.

Bought these on a recommendation from a review on a website. They work PERFECTLY with my Canon 60D. Battery levels are shown in the camera unlike some other non-Canon brand batteries. They also charge on the Canon charger that came with my camera. I bought two of them so I could rotate through them while shooting video and photos. So far so good. The batteries came pre-charged as well. At a fraction of the cost of the Canon brand batteries I feel like these are a GREAT deal if you're looking for some extra power but don't want to buy a battery grip. The last thing you want to have happen while shooting is to run out of power.

I bought three of these batteries and so far they seem to be working. I haven't used them extensively yet, but will update this review if I come across any issues. They do charge on the OEM charger that came with my Canon 7D. My Canon 7D can also read the amount of juice left in the battery when in the camera which some third party batteries don't. Good price for these batteries and supposedly have a lifetime replacement warranty.

Update:

So I've used these batteries for several months now and wanted to give an update about them. I've used them sparingly in the time I've had them and I'm down to one usable battery out of the three that I've purchased. One of the batteries I had to return immediately due to a bent pin in the battery that kept it from being charged. I decided not to repurchase it and stuck with the two other ones. Another one seems to be giving me issues now. It won't charge with the OEM battery charger that came with my Canon 7D or the dual charger that I purchased. It seems to be just dead. I'm now using just one which does charge fine. The quality control of these batteries seems to be severely lacking since I've had two duds now. I will try and use another third-party brand instead of these. These are the High Voltage Technology brand.

I bought this as a cheap back up battery for my Canon 7D.

1. Bought June 2011

2. Have fully charged battery 4 times in less than 7 weeks.

3. I get considerably less battery use than with my Canon ones ( I own 2 5D Mark II's and a 7D)

4. Cameras now show less than 1/2 charge in battery after a full overnight recharging.

5. I am sending back for a replacement after I finish this review.

6. Will stick to Canon batteries from now on.

Hope this helps--maybe my next one will be better--I will amend this review if I have better luck with the next one (if their lifetime replacement is true)

Good luck

We purchased this battery to use in our new aftermarket battery grip. I chose it because it's an "intelligent" model that should work well along side the stock canon battery (in the grip).

We used it on a trip to San Diego and so far it works just fine. - 60d - Battery - 7d - Canon'

Step Workout - the step, step platforms

There's really not a whole lot to say about this product since it's pretty obvious what it is & people getting it know how to use it. The only thing I want to let people know is that this is not 14 inches in height as Amazon says it is. It is 12 inches. You'll need to order extra risers if you want more height. I knew it was only 12 inches when I ordered it, so it wasn't a surprise to me. There might be others, though, who want a high step & might think this comes with enough risers for 14 inches in height, but that is not the case. It is only 12 inches in height total. The High-Step Club

I can confirm that the four blocks here are the same as the ones on the longer F1011W Step, and work just fine with it, giving you four blocks per side if you need or want the extra height on the F1011W. And--as of the date of this review--it's less expensive than buying two pairs of the black blocks separately, and you get the top 'step' as a bonus.

I weigh less than 200 pounds and the 1st day I used it, I almost fell on my butt doing single leg calf raises. What basically happened was, I was standing on the very edge, when all of a sudden the top riser flipped upwards, sending me flying off of it. You have to make sure to put your weigh in the middle of the step. I now have to be very careful when doing calf raises on it.

Otherwise it is ok - compact, light and convenient.

My transfirmer is much sturdier and I highly recommend it over this. It is not very stable. I know the stepper gives way, which is fine, since it is much larger and lower... but the top of this is small and high and it just doesn't feel secure. Make sure you put your foot directly in the center of it or else it will tilt on you! The grip is good, when my sweat falls on it, it doesn't make my shoes slippery, as it would sometimes get on the transfirmer. I think the best design anyone could have would be the transfirmer with this grip surface. I hope someone will make it soon.

This step is sturdy and compact. It's not to heavy to move and store. I like that I do not have to buy extra risers for it. Keep in mind the measurements of the step before purchasing as this cannot double as a weight bench. Great product though!

This high step is sturdy and versatile. I bought it to duplicate exercises that I learned from a personal trainer at the gym I used to belong to. I use it for a variety of core building exercises, but also as a rest and seat when I lift weights. I use it to turn my step into a weight bench as well. It grips the floor and I feel very secure when I'm stepping onto/off of it, as well as when I do dips with it. - Step Platforms - Step Workout - The Step'
