I am a Canon diehard fan. But Canon does not have anything that compares to Kodak Playsport HD waterproof pocket video camera. At 1080P the video recording is acceptable. But, at 720p and 60 frames per second this camera rocks, the results are great. I have used it around and in water, the blue filter helps under water. I am planning to use this for our Disney World vacation this year in the Water Parks.



This camera takes 5MP HD Stills, so now I have a camera that can take video and stills on demand wet or dry. I have other camera's in the same category like Flip and Samsung both do not compare, even at 720p 60 frames per second. $150.00 pricetag is also very affordable.



Easy to carry, very user friendly to move files from the camera to the computer or directly to Youtube. Nightvision would be nice but most of my recordings will be in Daylight. Bottom line great camera and I have no cons to talk about. Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera (Blue)

Over Christmas, my wife decided to award my awesomeness by getting me a Zi6. I loved this camera like a fat kid likes cake and took it with me everywhere that I went. Suddenly, my daughter was living her own personal Truman Show and everyone on my Facebook friends list was subject to video after video that I'd shot just about anywhere that we were of her being cute.



Not even a half a year had passed before I was totally devoted to the idea of the Zi6 but still wanting something with a little more horsepower under the hood (Image Stabilization, Facial Detection, Backlight Suppression). I was planning to go with the Zi8 but then I found this little bad boy. The Zx3 is essentially like the dashing, more adventurous midget version of the Zi8. It has the Zi8's guts but in a pint sized, water-proof body.



Pros:



1. Its freaking waterproof! In my opinion, this is almost 100% necessary with a camera that you carry around with you all the time. I'm often too stupid to come in out of the rain so the mere fact that this camera can take the moisture makes it a perfect fit for me.



2. Facial Detection, it works! The camera does an outstanding job of metering from whoever's grill that I happen to be getting all up in while using it. There's a noticeable lag when panning from the shadows to some sun-worshiping hippy but it's not that much. Maybe 1/3 of a second.



3. The image stabilization keeps my shots steady even when I'm jogging behind my 4 year old little girl as she goes from one place to the other being totally riot. It's digital instead of optical so it isn't perfect but it's still a far cry better than the Zi6. It¡¦s definitely a welcome upgrade as my footage no longer looks quite so much like every scene in Cloverfield.



4. I don't use the backlight suppression as much as I thought that I would (mostly don't need it) but its nice having it there.



5. I personally think that the low light performance of this camera is quite crunk! I've read lots of other reviews with people complaining about it but these folks probably complain that they don't get a side of caviar whenever they order a drive through happy meal. It's a pocket-sized camera. In my opinion, the Zx3 has the best low light resolution that you're going to find without upgrading to anything larger and more financially damaging to your checking account.



Cons



1. The thing runs on a proprietary battery so, unlike the Zi6 there's no more relying on AA's and Viagra to keep me going all day long. Kodak says that you'll get 90 minutes out of a full charge but they're lying to you like a bunch of dirty liars. Expect an hour without previewing.



2. Oddly, the 1080p recording mode doesn't make that much of a difference. The Zi6 maxed out at 720p and definitely got a worse picture than this Zx3 but that's mainly due to the internal processing differences between to two devices. It's not really a complaint, I guess. I've just found that 720p at 60fps is just as good or better than 1080p at 30fps.



3. This camera's lack of a macro mode makes it impossible for me to film my fungal infections to email to my doctor for diagnosis.



4. No case was provided! :( WTF Kodak? My Zi6 came with a case. True, it wasn't a very good case but it was there and I loved it! This one doesn't have one. I'm currently using one of my kid's unmatched socks to keep the screen and lens from getting scratched while it's in my pocket. Why does Kodak want me to be so ghetto?



5. The codec records in the .mov file format. This format is big and really annoying to edit in as it eats up processing power and makes your computer stupid. Know going into this that you're going to have to convert your files into a more manageable format before splicing together the next Citizen Kane.



All in all, I'd say that the Zx3 is pretty much the most amazing thing that I've owned ever since my wife got me my Zi6. The better image quality alone makes it worth the $150 that I paid for it but it's also waterproof! My wife didn't know that before I dropped it into my koi pond. The look on her face alone was priceless and worth every dollar spent.

I was, and still am, blown away by the quality recording I am getting off of this compact and rugged little camera. the 1080 setting can be a little blurry and choppy, but it is still better than most other compact camcorders I have used. The 720/60 frames setting is wonderful. I was astounded at the smoothness of the video, as well as the quality. Here's the trouble though, and hopefully not indicative of a larger issue.



I recorded an event for about 45 minutes, and after I was through, I looked back at the camera. The record light was still on, the screen still showing a live preview, but the recorded time number had stopped at about 37 minutes. All the controls were unresponsive. Not even the power button worked. After about 5 minutes, I had no choice but to remove the battery to shut the camera off. I turned it back on, and was shown an exclamation point where the video I had just shot was. The video would not play. I removed the 8gb SD card and plugged it directly into my computer, and the file size of the last video shot was only 67MB, not nearly high enough for 37 minutes of 720p @ 60frames per second. I am still unable to get even that fragment to play.



Color me heart-broken.





As I said, I hope this is not a sign of a larger, or more common, problem. But until I hear otherwise, I wouldn't use this camera when you really, really want to make sure you end up with a copy of the video (wedding, birthday, mat mitzvah, divorce, whatever). - Pocket Camera - Kodak - High Definition - Camcorder'

Aube By Honeywell - programmable timer, intermatic

As far as I know, there is nothing even close to this on the market.



I have had a few of these for many years. None have ever failed. Setup is straightforward and programming is reasonable.



Having the lights automatically adjust for sunrise/sunset is great. If we leave the house at 4pm and come back at 9pm, the front lights are on.



There is a little bug in the programming (TI034). It screws up if it is programmed to turn on before midnight and turn off after midnight. I forget now how it screws up, because I changed mine to turn off just before midnight. I think it just stayed on.



I would like more flexible programming, but that usually comes with complexity. There isn't much space there for a display.



1. Be able to set an offset (sunset +/- nn minutes).



2. A random feature where it would vary the actual on/off times by +/- nn minutes. This is a minor point, because it already vary some because of changing sunset/sunrise times.



3. Automatic adjustment for daylight savings. That may be a problem, because they could change the cutover date, so maybe it's better as it is.

This also allows me to synch the clock twice a year. The timer does not keep perfect time, which is surprising. I would think it could use the 60 Hz from the grid to stay perfectly in time. Maybe an upgraded model could include a received for the time signal from Colorado? :-)



This is one of my favorite gadgets. It used to be very hard to find. I am glad that Amazon is now carrying it. I often give them away as gifts.



07/30/10 Update: Aube makes quite a few models. It took me awhile to figure out the differences and I bought one wrong model. Some of them are designed for more heavy-duty work and controlling motors (033 & 035). I see that they now have a few new models with more programming options and higher wattage ratings. Most of mine are the 034. These are fine for porch lights. Our front porch light is also wired in with the front outside plug so it can control external Christmas lights. The 500 watt max for the 034 is limiting. I may get the new 071 or 072 to replace that one.

I installed more of these timers after a lighting guy used one doing our landscape lighting. I've used Intermatic wall timers before and had them crap out on me. These switches are reliable, easy to program, and discreet when replacing a normal wall switch.

I used this to replace my ST01C, controlling a whole house fan. The ST01C has a problem that it would randomly reset the clock to 12:00. This is much better with a neutral line. It's also easier to program. Highly recommended.

just wanted to emphasize that the thing is BIG, it barely barely fits into a standard box, and really doesn't if the wires coming in to the box take up any real room - we couldn't install the thing without redoing the whole box and drywall around it, which wasn't worth it :(

I was looking for a timer to control my outdoor lighting. I was first drawn to this product because of the name Honeywell, which is well known quality proven name in the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) business. So if Honeywell could make such a great PLC, then their timers should be par excellence. It turned out that some research after my purchase discovered that Aube was a company all of its own which was acquired by Honeywell in 2008. So this product, given the time frame, may have no Honeywell technology at all.

It turns out that it works great none the less!



NOTE: the key to making this Aube TI033 work in a standard size box with all this wiring is NOT to use the supplied connectors, they may cause the wiring to break and they take up extra space in the already cramped box. Just peal away the ends of the wires to be connected, bind them together by twisting with a pliers and shield the exposed wires with electrical tape - which is flexible and takes up a whole lot less space than connectors!



Pros

-Backed by Honeywell, a well known, well established PLC brand



-The Manual Mode is controlled by the door itself which is also itself a button; push to turn On, push to turn Off. (The On/Off switch shown in one of the pictures behind the door that hides the buttons, turns On/Off the entire device, although it gives the illusion that this is the manual mode switch).



-The door button can be used to switch between manual and automatic mode by just holding down the button for 3 seconds.



-The door button can be used to temporarily override the automatic mode (the follow the programing mode) to turn On or Off the device and this temporary override remains in effect until either the button is pushed again or the next turn on cycle in the automatic program starts.



-To the other reviewers who said this device was too big to fit in a standard size box, I say what standard are you following? I'm using this Aube TI033 to control 3 compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). I took out the triple switch (3 switches in one box), combined the 3 outputs to connect it to the single output of the Aube TI033; then had to run a neutral for the device (that's a lot of wiring in that box!). The box fit, tightly, with all that wiring but it fits well.

In short, take one box device out of box, put another into box.



-Requires a neutral so that in case of shorts, the danger to you would be diminished, the current would prefer the low resistance path back to your panel box and trip your circuit breaker.



-Displays Time (as set by you) in 24hr or 12hr, Day of week, current program running in auto mode and status of output device (On or Off).



-The Aube TI033 has up to 7 programs. Which means 7 times On and 7 times Off. Each of these On and Off times can be set individually to Day (Mon - Sun) or everyday and time of day.



-Has a built in rechargeable battery which can hold the programing data for up to 30 days! More than enough for even a very severe power outage.



-Aube TI033 Can control:

2400Watts (20 Amps @ 120V) (P = IV) (Resistive Loads - incandescent lights, halogen lights, block heater or Inductive Loads - fluorescent lights, compact fluorescent lights, sodium lamps, electronic ballasts)

1 HP (pool filter pumps, water pumps, ceiling or other fans, any motor up to 1 HP)

5 A tungsten (I don't know much about this!)



Cons

-May not actually have Honeywell tech in it.



-Does not have a short timer function in which you can push a button to turn on a device for a set period of time (eg. 5, 10, 15, 30 mins)



- Requires a neutral - depending on the wiring and the output device you are connecting the Aube TI033 to, you may not have a neutral. For instance with my wiring, my lighting was done with a simple circuit design so that the switch only breaks the live wire and the neutral is connected directly to the bulb, so in order to make this device work, I had to run an additional neutral wire inside the switch box. It will NOT work without this neutral.



- the actual wire than the neutral wiring for the device is made with, is a soft metal so that if the connectors supplied are used and turned a little too tightly, it breaks, as happened with mine and I had to remove it and connect it using a pliers and electrical tape.



NOTE: this device will NOT work without this neutral! When I was attempting to use mine with the broken neutral wire, it wouldn't even turn On!



There is another theoretical solution, in a simple circuit design mentioned above, where the neutral is connected to the bulb/device, the other end of the wire at the switch is theoretically a neutral so you could bind the neutral and output wires of the Aube TI033 and connect it to the live going to the device. I didn't test this to see if it will work, that's why I said theoretically... the reason why I didn't and why I don't recommend it is because if there is a fault, the fault current would have to pass through your device. In this case with say a filament bulb, the filament would act a fuse and burn under heavy current causing the fault current afterward to find an alternative route which could be through you!!!



NOTE: It doesn't come with a faceplate, the one I bought was;

I have been cooking with Aviva's first Scramble cookbook for two years now and my whole family has enjoyed her recipes.



When I saw she had a new cookbook out, I requested it immediately but was a bit unsure whether it would live up to the first one. I should not have worried - I think this one is even better! There were so many recipes I loved that I have too many pages to dog-ear, and I anticipate this being used weekly in our home for a long time.



Best improvements:

1. Better organization - While still categorized by seasons (which I find extremely helpful), now the fish/meat/pasta recipes are put together so that you can easily select from the right style of meal. At the beginning of each 'season' every recipe is indexed by page number so you can easily flip right to it.

2. Side dish recipes are now included in each recipe, instead of having to flip to the back of the book

3. Very helpful side-bar articles and tips (and very up to date - including the issue of BPA in canned goods, composting tips, and lunch/snack ideas)

4. Really good recipes! There is great variety in here with a focus on lots of fruits/vegetables and interesting spices. Nothing bland or boring.



I highly recommend this cookbook!!! SOS! The Six O'Clock Scramble to the Rescue: Earth-Friendly, Kid-Pleasing Dinners for Busy Families

This is an unbelievably good cookbook. First, the organization is great- everything you need for a dinner is laid out together; the side dish suggestions are great & recipes are on the same page; the weekly menus are helpfully grouped with the related recipes. More importantly, the recipes are written in a clear and easy to follow style- and they cook up as promised. And, critically, the recipes are so successful that we have already adopted several as household staples- and we're still in the first couple weeks of using the cookbook.



The only, relatively minor, caveat is that Ms. Goldfarb's children are clearly better at eating certain foods than mine are. I would love for them to cheerfully eat a black bean salad, but alas they have not yet seen the light. But I live in hope, and in the meantime, I can make it & eat it myself.



I have quite a lot of cookbooks, and have given away even more, because the recipes didn't live up to the book around them. This one is a keeper.

I've cooked several things from this book and they've been delicious. I swear the author has special skills: even dishes I don't think the kids will like they love. It is scary! Thank you so much for a fabulous cookbook.

Looking for easy, delicious, and healthy recipes? I highly recommend this cookbook! It's by far the best family-friendly AND healthy cookbook I've seen. My husband is the family cook, and he loves making her recipes because they are easy and always well-received by the kids--a hard feat.

I really enjoy The Six O'Clock Scramble cookbooks. This latest one incorporates healthy, tasty recipes with keeping our earth clean and healthy. I enjoy being in the kitchen and cooking meals for my kids and my husband that I know will nourish them and will tread lightly on our planet, as well. Truly the best part is that these meals can be ready quickly... when the natives are hungry - they don't want to wait. Some days we don't get home until dinner time - so I'm tempted to just order pizza or run to Taco Bell before we get home.... But I know it's not good for anyone to do that. So I am so happy that I have an alternative. SOS helps me get healthy food into the family in just minutes. I highly recommend SOS! The Six O'Clock Scramble to the Rescue. I've been a happy Scrambler since 2009 using the online service. I was so excited for her new cookbook to come out as well! Her approach to meal planning and her incredible recipes have made such a difference in my life.



I have a challenging household of eaters, and these recipes work for everyone. I have a very picky eater (age 5) and another child (age 9) that will eat anything. These recipes appeal to both children. Many of the recipes can be tailored to the picky child's needs (like separating the ingredients, or adding sauces later after dishing out his portion). My non-picky eater and my husband think I am the best cook in the world now. I'm also a vegetarian, and the rest of my family isn't, and Aviva includes an incredible number of recipes that either are already vegetarian or can easily be made vegetarian. For her chicken dishes, I'll use Gardein "chicken" for my portion. I no longer struggle to find recipes that appeal to everyone. Some of her recipes may not sound traditionally kid-friendly, but my family loves them. I've learned to trust her.



I'm able to give such a high rating on a new cookbook because her recipes have already been tested on her clients. You can be sure if they made it into the book, many families have already given them their highest ratings. Some, I've even made before and have become family favorites. Don't miss Gnocchi Dokey, Mango and Black Bean Salad, or the Tortellini Soup with Spinach and Tomatoes. There are too many to list.



I only go to the grocery store once a week now, and we rarely eat out or get take out anymore. Why? Because I have a plan. Even better, we actually eat the leftovers since they are so delicious. We eat so much healthier now and have tried so many new vegetables that I've never known what to do with before.



This cookbook has many sidebars of interesting information as well as her menu plans and recipes. Each plan is divided into seasons, to take advantage of what is in season. If you buy this book, you literally have your meals planned for a year.

I'm someone who finds it terrifically challenging to keep my family fed. I enjoy cooking when I have all day to wander a farmer's market and prepare some snazzy recipe, which happens exactly NEVER anymore. Time constraints combined with my concerns about our health, the environment and our finances have made cooking dinner into an opportunity for an anxiety attack.



Before I opened this book, I never considered the fact that cookbooks aren't generally written for busy moms (duh). These recipes have short ingredient lists and prep times, plus they're yummy and healthy and arranged by season. Such a relief. There are weekly menu suggestions. Corresponding shopping lists are even available on the website.



I haven't tried it yet, but you can also get a subscription to weekly meal plans, recipes and shopping lists through her website.

I attempted to use rechargable batteries in the label maker but was constantly required to recharge them unless I used the label maker more frequently. Getting an AC Adapter resolved the problem. I still have the option to use batteries for convenience but the adapter saves on time and frustration. Works great! Power Adapter for P-touch

This Power Adapter for the Brother P-Touch 1280 works well, has a long (6+ feet) power cord, and doesn't introduce noise problems to other equipment. The real beauty of it is that it eliminates the need for batteries, therby significantly reducing operating cost. It's a good device, and relative speaking, a greener way to go.

Ordered the standard AD24 Brother power adapter directly from Amazon but received a Brother AD-24-ES which is significantly smaller (3" x 1 7/8" x 1 1/4") and lighter than what's described on the website. Appears to work fine thus far. 6' cord is a big advantage for flexibility.

I had the little label printer that used 6 AA and didn't have the A/C adapter so either it didn't have batteries or it drained them in a few days. With this and a different unit I can print a label when I need one.

It could have been just my rechargeable batteries, but man... my P-touch would go through batteries like crazy. This adapter is a necessity! I wish this had already came with the labeler to begin with, but I'll take what I can get. The cord is quite long, which makes it easy to work with. If you don't already have this, you have to get it! I can't believe I waited so long.

The Brick was ordered for the P Touch label maker as battery life is not good. The Brick I thought I was getting would work on other P Touch label makers we have in the office but its output it 1/2 of the others. At $20 Its too much for this brick and I could have used one from a set of cheap speakers for the label maker. The label maker its self works ok but uses alot of tape and reducing the amount of leader and trailer from the label is hard to control. I should have bought the same one we have at work. Be careful for what you ask for. All in all the label maker works ok but the tapes the T Z's cost about $10 each which is more than the Dymo's. Is good for what it is.

Batteries are so 'yesterday'. As Ron would say- "just set it, and forget it". A must, or at the very least, a 'should' have for that most impressive little Brother P-Touch labeler. Batteries are not for that little dynamo. Got mine (the P-Touches) around Black Friday for $9 each with 2 cartridges in each, so I especially don't mind putting out for this purchase. I am not a "jeans" guy... I never wore jeans, always cargo pants or something else. I thought I would try these because I really like Carhartt work pants.. Anyway. These are great. fit good, feel good.. and i'm all about the cargo pockets!! They are super well built and will last a long time i am sure. This is a follow up on the size of the jeans, the length remains the same but the size is smaller. Levis 32W is 34W for Carhartt, but if you have some junk in the trunk, its a 36W. The jeans are wonderful, but it's made for men with average to no tush. Carhartt makes the best jeans for work and I still have a jacket from Carhartt from 20 years ago.

Purchased these jeans as christmas gift, shipping was quick however jeans didn't fit. If purchasing Carhartt jeans for the first time online, be sure to go to the store and try them on first. They run very small compared to Levi's. Carhartt is great quality material, but found out the hard way that their sizes run small.

Your ad is confusing. The title says 30" and then pick other measurement. One would think that the first measurement would be waist and second length as this is how we size in store. Jointer Knives

I have purchased many sets of these for my Jet jointer (Model JJ-6CS), which I've owned for ten years. They are about half the price some places want for the factory replacements. I have been using them for years (I believe I've purchased 8 sets). They last as well as the original blades. I've also bought the 6" x 5/8. Both seem to work equally well. I went to the 3/4" because I figured I could get another resharpen or two out of thicker blades, though with the price it's about as easy just to order new blades. Why pay full price for factory replacements? Freud typically has quality router bits and this hasn't diminished on their knives. These knives appear to be of excellent quality. They have an excellent finish on all surfaces. Grinding marks are almost invisible. I have several sets of various brands that are 30 to 40 years old ( back when quality was important) and these look much better. It's cheaper to buy new knives than to sharpen old ones and the quality of the sharpening is far from satisfactory. The only negative feature on the Freud blades is the burr left from sharpening. It will be an easy task to hone these which I expected I'd have to do when I ordered them. I'm sure they will perform as good as they look. I'm very pleased with these and highly recommend them.'

I purchased this product because I needed to be able to access a spare hard drive occasionally and I wanted something simpler than opening up the computer case. It does what it is supposed to do. I connected a IDE harddrive and afterwards a SATA harddrive to it and in a few moments my Win XP machine was able to read the drive through the USB port. This product is not the best quality, it was a little difficult to connect the SATA adapter connection to the base device but for $10.50 I can live with that. For me, this is all I need and would recommend it anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money and only needs to use this on occasion. Anyone who would need to access a hard drive through a USB port on a daily basis should look for something sturdier. I had a laptop that died, and I needed a way to get the data off the hard drives in it. This adapter worked like a champ, and was a lot less expensive than purchasing an external drive enclosure. This little guy came in about 4 days after I ordered it. I love it. I've been needing a Sata to usb for some extra hard driver i have laying around. The only bad this about this little guy is the pins for the power are a little cheap. Bent it already, but nothing i cant fix!

This kit is pretty good, because it lets you access a hard drive as if it was an USB drive! That's pretty good to me! I'm using it so I can load my wii backups from an old hard drive form and Dell computer, and (because of the way the hard drive is) I don't even need the power supply, since the hard drive (I assume it's like a laptop hard drive that uses the USB port to power up). So... it's great! I'm playing all my games from the hard drive without the need of the discs... And the price is quite good, since it comes with the powers supply, and the adapter for 2 different kinds of HDs...

its pretty intuitive to set up. the SATA to USB adapter also works for IDE drives. It comes with a molex 4-pin to SATA power adapter. works amazingly, i love it. it was packaged sort of strange. nothing really came in the protective little baggies, but as long as everything works, i am happy.
