Door Handle Lock - babyproofing, door handle lock

I've purchased these for every door in the house. They are extremely easy to operate for an adult but our 14 month old can't reach above the handle to unlock it, yet. It would take him both hands to open, although adults can use just one. Only problem is that it doesn't fit on the exterior doors.

Because it relocks once the handle is back up in place, I was concerned that I'd get locked in the room or down in the basement but it's design keeps that from happening. The handle moves inside the guard to prevent this.

Still looking for something for the outside doors, but all other guards have stated to NOT use on exterior doors. Most likely because you can get locked out as the handle won't go down to get back in. Just wish this one fit. Kidco Clear Door Lever Locks

This is a great item. We have 18 month twin boys that figured out how to open the doors and this keeps them from doing that anymore. They cover the lever handles and really work. Only negative is that they are kind of bulky but this is the only peroduct out there that works for these handles, and older kids can operate them easily.

If you are looking for something that is attractive and not noticable, this is not the right product for you. But we use ours for two doors upstairs near our daughter's room and it works very well. She has figured out all the door knobs in the house, but the lifting mechanism on this one keeps her from getting the door open. It's definitely big and bulky but for the bathroom and bedroom door upstairs, it's perfect for us.

The door lever lock does serve its purpose in keeping my 2 year old out of the office--it's not bad that he's in there, but he loves to play with doors and constantly slam it! This deters just that! What's true is that the part that covers the door handle does slide off a lot when an adult tries to enter the room, but it's no big deal, it just 'snaps' back in place by lining up the groove on top with the bottom part of the 'deadbolt.' My husband wasn't about to drill anything into our new doors, the adhesive does work for us although I've read complaints from others that it doesn't. We haven't had a problem with the adhesive. The product serves its purpose for our needs. However it did come without the package, we were scratching out heads on this one. We just got the clear door lever locks in a manilla envelope. Go figure!

This lever lock would be great if you didn't have a sneaky 3 year old to figure out how to open it. We used it on our front door to keep our toddler from going outside but it is not working all the time.

This product was much easier to install than the first one I tried, which required disassembly of the doorknob. I installed it in about a minute and my 18 month-old can't bypass it. It might not work for older kids but for now it is just what we need.

A little flimsy, but it does the job.. I live in an apartment and didn't want to drill into the door. The Kidco Lever lock allowed me to have a child lock on the front door without having to drill holes.

My son is 3 years old, so we definitely needed a product like this. Be prepared to install it using the screws that are provided. With enough pressure on the door handle cover provided, it is easy to pop the top locking part right off the door if you only use the adhesive. Sometimes I have to make sure that it goes back in the lock position on the back door of the house before I close the door behind me, but that is because it was the first one I installed. I paid more attention to aligning it well on the one I installed in my son's bedroom, and it works perfectly. Overall, I am happy with this product, and can sleep easier at night knowing the little guy can't escape!

Our 23 month old figured out how to use this latch in under two months. He basically lifted the top tab and while leaning on the handle, "presto" got the door open and was very pleased with his discovery.

In order to secure the top tab, you must apply an adhesive that comes with the lock and screw holes are optional for additional security. We opted to secure the top tab with the screws to be extra safe.

After only 6 weeks use, we were left with messy adhesive and two holes in our door. I would not recommend this product. - Door Handle Lock - Safety - Babyproofing - Lever Lock'
