I am now on my third of this exact model watch. I had first purchased this watch after trying watches from other sources that were either too delicate for every day, outdoor usage, or too big for my tastes.
The first watch worked great for 2-3 years, until I smashed the face on a rock - completely my fault. The second stopped working in about 9 or so months; it started to lose roughly 5 minutes every hour, and no replacement battery would change that (I tried multiple brands). Believing that I just had a faulty watch, I purchased the third one. In about 9 or so months, it too started to lose roughly 5 minutes for every hour. I have just tried my third brand of replacement battery with no improvement. All products occaisionally go bad, but not likely two going bad in the same way at roughly the same timeframe unless there is a design or manufacturing fault.
Otherwise, I'd love to give this watch a good rating. A good size and weight, handy and strong for a wide variety of outdoor activities. Maybe I was just snake-bitten twice, but at this point I'm off to try a different brand. The cost is too high to purchase a new one of these watches every year. Like another (the only other) reviewer, I too had a problem with the watch losing 5 minutes frequently. I suspected the battery, even though my watch was less than a month old. Then, I realized that the crown is defective. If you flex your wrist backward, which we all do on a regular basis, the crown can get pushed in past the "run" mode, stopping the watch. Looks like a design flaw with this model. Too bad, because it's a cool-looking watch. But hey, how accurate does a Swiss military watch have to be: the country stays neutral in every war. Unfortunately, my daughter's elementary school expects true military precision from students arriving every morning.
I have owned a lot of watches over the years. This watch is as good as any watch for any money I have owned. Accurate to the second, easy to read, and looks great. It's classic & casual, just what I was looking for. And the price was a steal!
I have purchased this item about a year ago but i have received woman's one. Thought it was the one I ordered and that's why couldn't change it after it was already used. In first two months it started to stop sometimes for about five minutes in 24 hour it was late. After second month it works normally.'
