Positive Placement Nails
I am a developer in Washington state. I use the Hitachi NR6AKS Positive Placement Nail gun for straps, ties, and hangers. I recently purchased two boxes of B & C Eagle Paper taped nails for over 150.00. I ran into two different problems with these nails.
1)As you fire each nail the paper holding that nail is not torn free and builds up in the nose of the gun. this causes the next couple of nails to caulk sideways in the gun and either misfire, not drive all the way, or completely jamb the gun.
2)The Paper separates form the nail clip causing the whole clip of nails to fall apart in the magazine of the gun. These nails were kept in a dry atmosphere and were still falling apart in the box.
These nails were not only expensive to purchase but are also costly in lost man hours. It is actually more cost effective to tear the paper off and use a hammer!! B & C Eagle 112X148/33 1-1/2-Inch by .148-Inch by 33 Degree Paper Tape Collated Positive Placement Nail (3,000 per Box)
These particular nails are hard to find in local lumber yards, home centers or hardware stores. It is good to know they are available here and in planning enough lead time are readily available. That said, they are very expensive and I feel the lack of availability keeps the price up. Just like the high price of gas - they have us over a barrel!'
