This book goes into great detail about the costumes shown in the available period sources. The author is careful to point out when a figure is mythological or a deity and so is not a reliable source for what people were wearing. The book's major fault is that it assumes a great deal of familiarity with Indian dress. If the reader is not familiar with all of the Indian terms for clothing items, it is a little hard to understand.Also, most of the pictures are the author's line drawings of the original artworks.
