Wireless Remote Control - remote control outlet, remote outlet

When I ordered this product, I had a tough time deliberating between the other similar products online. I "knew" I wanted something like this, but I was concerned over the various reviews on each of the comparable products -- each product having something that was bashing it a bit. The alternative product of having a remote control for my lights seemed far less attractive to me (though still more attractive than continuing to turn 4 lamps on every time I enetered this room). Side note: I've become increasingly skeptical about 'planted' reviews by the makers of products -- great reviews on their own products, bad reviews on others' products. So, this is my first time putting pen to paper and really viewing something.

I'm 30, living in an apartment in an old brownstown in Boston, and while it's a great place, 100+ years ago when the place was built, the rooms were not designed with single-switch on/off lighting.

The GOOD:

The switch works exactly like it claims to. I plugged the wireless outlet unit into an electrica outlet at one end of my room, I connected an extension cord to it, and then I plugged 3 single-bulb nouveau glass lamps into the extension cord. I then put the double-sided tape on the back of the wireless switch and stuck it to the wall on the other side of the room (right by the entrance to the room). Now, when I walk into the room the first thing I do is hit the wireless light switch and all three lamps turn on instantly. I no longer need to turn 3 lamps on manually to get good lighting! The distance from wireless base to wireless switch is probably in the 15-20ft range and I've never had any problems. The lamps turn on as if they were on a built-in switch, which is exactly what I was looking for.

The Less good:

Not clarified in the product description (to my memory it was left out / ambiguous) -- to clarify, the wireless outlet unit has a 2-pronged plug on it. It does NOT have a 3-prong plug. That is, if you were looking to plug a power bar into the wireless outlet unit, you would need a power bar / extension cord with only 2-prongs. This was a bit of a bummer for me because I actually have 4 of the glass lamps I was hoping to connect via a power bar... I'm still happy with 3 lamps, though now I almost never turn on the 4th one. All the other wireless light switches I considered clearly had only 2 prongs, but this one was ambiguous to me. So, now hopefully you will have this question answered BEFORE you buy.

Question? Feel free to ask me -- not sure I've got more to say about this product, but I'll do my best to answer. Westinghouse T00412 Light Switch Remote

Great product but if you buy more than one they have to be installed at least 50' away from eachother because when you switch one on the other will switch on too! I put one in the living room and one in my office but whenever I switch on the living room light the office light goes on too and vice versa! Too close to eachother!

Don't waste your money on this. I purchased this switch and it broke the next day. I didn't even bother complaining because it's only $20 and it's not worth it. I had to buy a new one and purchased the "handy switch" and it works great!! I have two at home and have never had any problems. It even costs less.

Not sure if this is a defective unit as many other reviews here say positive things about it. But as with the two or so other poor reviews, this works only some of the time. And only when the switch is within a few feet of the receive AND with no obstructions (e.g., the thin wall of a desk or a bookshelf). So, for my purposes this is worthless as I would have to rearrange things just to get the switch and receive approx. 5 feet from one another and with nothing in between them. Even then, it seems only every other click turns the switch on/off. Going to try returning this though it is already open.

My roommate's light switch is outside of his bedroom door, so you can imagine how frustrating that could be. My sister had one of these that she got from the As Seen On TV store a few years back and I couldn't find one there anymore, so of course I went to Amazon and found it. It works perfectly and he hasn't had any problems with conflicting light switches messing with him yet... well, other than the person outside of his door messing with it.

That's right, no more clapping. When my daughter clapped, that was my cue to turn her light off. Often inconvenient. Now She keeps this switch by her bed, reads till she's tired and then uses the remote.

Problem solved.

Product worked great for a month then randomly stopped working. range or interference is not an issue and i even changed batteries and no go. somethings messed up in the box because it no longer makes the click sound when it turns on or off.

I really like my Westinghouse remote light switch, it works well, so I don't have too squish around a chair and a table to turn on a light I use everyday. It works wonderful, even my granddaughter uses it and is so excited that the light comes on so quickly and easily.

I have had this for 2 weeks and it works just fine.

You can attach it to the wall either with the double sided tape or with the screws that comes with it.

Important to keep in mind that you can only insert a two-pronged plug into this. NOT a three-pronged plug.

If you want to connect a three-pronged power bar you would have to buy a 2-pronged to 3-pronged converter (which was less than $2 at Target).

Most power bars are three-pronged, so if you want to attach a power bar to this you would either have to use a special power bar with only 2 prongs or buy a converter like I did. - Remote Control Outlet - Lighting - Wireless Light Switch - Remote Outlet'

Professional - duracell, reliable

These batteries are a very good choice for an inexpensive alkaline. Heavy duty batteries, are not cost effective because although cheaper, they have a very short run time. To get the best bang for your buck, go for alkalines like these.

The "Procell" designation is basically Duracell's way of marking these batteries as ones intended for industrial applications. They make them as a separate line so they won't directly compete with their consumer lines.

My experience is that these batteries do not last quite as long as the top consumer lines from Duracell and Energizer. However, they are within 10-20% (depending on the application), and are considerably cheaper. So, they are much more cost effective.

Unless you are using them in an application where it is difficult to change the batteries, I recommend going with these instead of spending more.

If you like this review, please click the "was helpful" button below it. DURACELL AAA24 PROCELL Professional Alkaline Battery (DURACELL AAA24PROCELL)

I've been using Duracell Procells (sizes AAA, AA, C, and 9V) in pretty much every small, battery powered device I own for about a year now. In that time, I've noticed absolutely no difference between them and standard Duracell Coppertops or Energizers. Wii controllers, LED flashlights, Maglights, wireless mice, digital cameras, etc... there's been no change in the battery life of any of them. In my opinion, they're just as good in every way and an absolute steal for the price.

Without an engineering review, These are for a 10 megapixel digital camera my son is averaging about 150 picture per battery set (3) at this point they get used in a mp3 player. This exceeds all the other batteries tried. What ever he picked up at the local store. Various brands. The box says no Mercury and made in USA. not china so that's a plus.

Kindle 3 Covers - power adapter, kindle

The version 3 is amazing . This is what Kindle should have been on the launch. NO complaints whatsoever.

Also I highly recommend to get the Kindle cover with LED Light from Amazon. It is simple indispensible. With the cover I was so immersed that unconsciously I tried to change the pages by hand like book one or two times.

Dont but the power supply though for UK or any other country. You can use any blackberry or lastest HTC phone charger ( They have higher capacity thena required by kindle)

Anil Amazon Kindle UK (Type G, United Kingdom) Power Adapter [Fits Kindle and Kindle DX]

I got suckered in to this by the "get it with your Kindle" special offer. It's just a standard charger, so we now have several of them lying unused in a drawer. Check if you have a suitable charger already, if not it's perfectly fine for what it is.

The new Kindle 3s shipped to international users (excluding the UK who have their own local store) don't have a power adapter included.

Amazon currently offer this in a promotion with the new Kindle 3 for $4.99. However they ship the power adapter separately from the Kindle 3 so shipping costs of about $13 are added on. At time of writing the Kindle 3s will be shipping in a couple of weeks. The power adapter should have been held back and shipped at the same time as the Kindle 3 so that the headline price reduction was actually received.

The bottom line is the adapter winds up costing about EUR20 inc VAT and shipping.

Much cheaper if less visually attractive alternatives like the LLoytron USB charger are available in shops locally in Ireland.

I have 2 as we have 2 kindle. One if this just disintegrated in my drawer. It peels off everywhere. When I told my sister who also have had 2 Kindle herself, said 2 of her plugs have already disintegrated that this is a known fact - Kindle power adapters, the white tubing outside disintegrate. There must be some safety issue here!!! Please improve the make of your adapters PLEASE! It's ridiculous! When I first found it the state it is in, I thought I had a rat in the house but the covering keeps peeling off!!!!

Unfortunately the micro USB plug is too loose in the Kindle socket so you have to jiggle it around before you get a connection. If the Kindle gets moved then chances are it will stop charging. Not reliable.

Also.....yet another proprietory micro usb plug - why can't there be a standard for this size. I now have a Kindle, a Nikon camera and a Blackberry that all use different sized micro usb plugs.

This USB adapter (UK) is 50% off the original Apple adapter which can only be bought in the UK and works exactly the same. Tested it on my iPhone 4 and iPad. The cord is fairly worthless though as it's it only works with the Kindle. Great for anyone visiting UK often and wants to travel light.

It is a ordinary usb charger with a amazon brand on it. Will charge other device with a micro usb port. Good value when you bought with your Kindle, but obviously overpriced if you want to buy it stand alone. - Kindle - Amazon - Kindle 3 Covers - Power Adapter'

Work Pants - 511, tactical

I love these pants! They are way more comfortable than jeans and the cargo pockets come in very handy. I may not wear jeans on a regular basis again. The sizing chart also helped me pick out the right size. Propper Cotton Ripstop BDU Pants Black MR F520155001M2

"Exactly the right type. The 1st one I owned lasted over 10 years. This new one looks like it was cut from the same cloth. YES!!!" The consistency and quality took me by surprise. Arrived in 2 or 3 days.

I love these pants. I'm 6'4", and male and tend to carry quite a bit of stuff. (wallet, keys, phone, sometimes eyeglasses, notebook/pen, calculator around the house, secureID for logging into a data service etc ... you get the idea). Jeans are out, too constrictive. Pants with large front pockets are out... 6'4"... so when I sit on most chairs, my knees are higher than my hips causing everything in my front pockets to spill out ... solution: cargo pants (it also allows me to put stuff in different pockets so I am not rummaging through 1-2 big pockets looking for stuff - I'm a nerd). Most popular retail brands make cargo pants that fade or fall apart or feel flimsy after 2-3 washes. I have 2 pairs of camo Propper pants that after washing 2-3 times to soften them up straight after purchase look the same 1 year in as they did after those 2-3 washes, are sturdy yet comfortable... and the only reason I am buying more is people make (incorrect) judgments about me due to them being camo, and I love them so much I wanted some neutral colours (hmmm, what shirt should I wear to dinner at "Bob's" place that goes with camo? :) ). It's certainly not that the other pairs have worn out... not at all!

I would add though that choose your vendor carefully. Amazon has a table that shows that most vendors ship rather promptly but one vendor takes days to process your order (guess which vendor my order went through?). I submitted my order 3 days ago and still do not have a tracking number, and when I contacted customer support for an update, the response was terse at best.

In short, great pants, and remember you have a choice of vendors through Amazon, so choose wisely if you expect these in a timely "fashion" (pun intended).

Awesome pair of pants, everything in description is correct. Extremely well made and confortable. They run a little snug so they are not baggy. Will recommend next size up if you want them to be baggy. - Cargo Pants - 511 - Bdu - Tactical'

Shakespeare - combo, fishing

I've had Ugly Stiks and Shakespeare reels for salt water for many years and thought I'd try some freshwater trout fishing. I needed something small and inexpensive and this combo fit the bill. Sure the reel has only one bearing but it's still smooth and should last quite a few years when properly maintained. The action on the Ugly Stik is light, the construction is solid and the two pieces fit snugly together. The reel is solid, cranks smoothly and the bail returns acceptably. I prefer the rear drag adjustment and this one seems to work very well. The black color on both the rod and reel are good for stealth in clear streams (no shiny parts) and looks good too. It casts smoothly and hits the mark every time (mainly because I'm just that good). Can you buy something much better? Sure. In my research I can across an ultralight reel that cost $1300. I say buy this Shakespeare Combo and then take the $1260 and go on a nice vacation to the mountains. I'll pass this rig on to my son and upgrade some day but as for now this will do just fine.

Highly recommended. Shakespeare Two-Piece Light Action Ugly Rd 1 Bearing Combo

Good value in a compact rod with accompanying reel. The reel is a bit cheesy, but is more than adequate for my kids, and the Ugly stick rod has nice action. Perfect for hiking & fishing for lake trout, it breaks down into a light compact package.

At least I got another Ugly Stick. Otherwise, the reel is smaller than I expected. It's another simple pole for the kids. Don't buy this is your serious about fishing.

Oh . . . and the first one I received from Amazon was missing the top half of the pole. I let Amazon know about it and I received a replacement the next day. Mistakes happen and I'm glad Amazon is so quick to fix them. - Fishing - Reel - Fishing Rod - Combo'

Micro Sd - 4gb microsd, kingston

The Kingston 8 GB microSDHC Card works flawlessly with all my memory card readers: Kingston Mobilite, Kingston microSD Card Reader, and SD Card Reader. Windows (XP) has no trouble recognizing it as a removable drive.

- Device Compatibility

Using a microSDHC to MS PRO Duo Adapter, I am able to use the Kingston 8GB microSD in my Sony Cybershot DSC-W170 Camera -- it works like a charm; the camera has no trouble capturing pictures and videos (at a frame frate of 30 fps and a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels). All of my devices, such as my Garmin nüvi 360 and my HP iPAQ 111, are able to recognize the full capacity of the SD card.

- microSDHC Format

microSD cards of 4GB or larger are known more specifically as microSDHC cards. This 8GB Kingston card is therefore a microSDHC card. Beware that some older devices are NOT compatible with the microSDHC format. Such devices will only work with microSD cards with capacities of 2GB (such as this Kingston 2GB microSD card) or less.

(The technical specification for the SDHC/microSDHC format supports capacities ranging from 4GB - 32 GB. microSDHC cards of 16GB, such as this Kingston 16GB microSDHC card, is the largest capacity available as of this writing.)

- Class 4 Speed

This SD card is rated class 4 (data transfer rate: 4 MByte/sec, or 32 mbps) - sufficiently fast for the majority of electronics. A decidedly small number of electronics, most notably some camcorders and high-end cameras, require a class 6 SD card (the fastest transfer rate as of this writing). Transcend makes one that's rated class 6.

- Frustration-Free Packaging

Kudos to Amazon for their Frustration-Free Packaging efforts in using only recyclable packaging materials and in keeping the amount of packaging used to a bare minimum. As a giant in the e-tailing industry, Amazon's move will no doubt serve as an impetus for getting the rest of the e-tailers to follow suit!

---

The Kingston memory card is compatible with devices that support the microSDHC format. It is a fast (class 4) memory card with plenty of storage. Definitely recommended if the specs meet your needs! Kingston 4 GB microSDHC Class 4 Flash Memory Card SDC4/4GB

I didn't see any reviews for this product, so I wanted to let you know that the 8GB (7.4GB usable) works on my BlackBerry 8310.

Interestingly, although the BB showed 8GB with the new card, I only saw 4GB (3.2 or 3.4GB usable) when I first connected to my laptop and the computer asked to format the card when I enabled Mass Storage Mode (I used this mode to drag and drop into the BB). I could only see 4GB on my work computer as well.

However, after standalone reformatting the card (to FAT32) on my friends Compaq both of my computers (and phone) now properly see it as an 8GB card. My computer and phone information is below.

laptop: Win XP Pro w/ 4.2.2.12 BB Desktop Manager

work computer: BB desktop manager 4.6.0.12 with win2k pro

phone: curve 8310 with firmware: v4.2.2.170 and AT&T as provider

I'm looking forward to using the expanded storage!

I bought the Kingston 4gb micro SDHC card for my Blackberry 8830. At the current time, my particular Blackberry cannot accommodate a card larger than 4 gb, due to OS software that is not yet up to speed. The Kingston card is every bit as good as the more popular brands, with the exception of having a lower price. Be aware that using the included SD adapter is great...HOWEVER, if your laptop or desktop SD reader is not rated to read HC (high capacity) cards, then you may not be able to view the contents of the card or make changes using your computer(s). This happened to me, so I purchased a $10 USB SDHC card reader, and now I can use these higher-capacity cards in both my older laptop and desktop SD drives. Of course you can transfer data via a direct connection with your cell phone, for example, but it usually takes longer to do it that way.

Yes folks, unless you are absolutely sure about the vendor's reputation, I would say that most of the flash memory cards sold on line are fakes. This really is a huge problem since most of the buyers are unaware of this. So, what exactly is a fake? These are usually inferior graded flash memory that has been used to "upgrade" to an apparent higher capacity card with a name brand manufacturer's sticker on it. This type of counterfeiting is no different than selling bogus Rolex watches at greatly discounted prices. But the bigger and more insidious problem with bogus flash cards is that the customer is not aware of it, unlike the phony Rolex's where the buyer usually knows that they are knockoffs. The card may fail right away, or as more typically happens, they will work for a while and then fail...leaving the owner not a clue as to what went wrong. I purchased a Kingston flash card before our trip to Asia. Everything was going fine until we had snapped just over 100 photos. We were in Shanghai, right after our run through of Japan. The camera would not snap any more pictures indicating that there was a problem (I don't remember the actual message). In addition, we couldn't view any of the photos we had already taken. We thought at that moment that disaster had struck and we had lost all of our precious photos. A savvier member of our traveling group suggested that I might bring the card to photo/electronics shop, as they might still be able to retrieve the photos from the defective card. So here I am running around Shanghai trying to find the proper place to have surgery done on our flash memory card. We finally found a place, but it wasn't cheap. We paid $145 to retrieve the photos, and except for a few, we were able to salvage most. Considering what we spent for the trip overall, it was worth it. But it was also an expensive lesson. Before entrusting your photos to a flash memory card, make sure that you have purchased it from a reputable dealer. And regardless of where you might have purchased it, test the card before using it. There a number of software applications you can run from your pc to do this. I now use "h2testw" to test my flash cards after purchase and before using. It's a free download, just google to find it. You can also get more info on this problem by googleing "fake flash memory cards". I'm posting this on Amazon, because of a previous poster reviewing and reporting his discovery of the fake card he received from this vendor. This vendor is still here, and apparently still selling this memory card even after the buyer reported it to Amazon. So, let the buyer beware, and do his due diligence when buying these items. - Kingston - 4gb Microsd - 4gb - Cell Phone Memory'

Ergonomic Keyboard - keyboard, natural keyboard

I work in IT, so I get to try A LOT of different keyboards. This is, by far, the best keyboard that I have ever had. I got my first Microsoft Natural Elite about 10 years ago and am only now replacing it because I took it apart to clean it and lost the screws. These things last and last. It got a little louder as it aged, but other than that (and being filthy), it was as good as the day I bought it before I disassembled it.

When I first purchased this keyboard, I immediately picked up about 10 words per minute. I type fast (average around 100 words per minute), and I attribute a lot of that to using a comfortable keyboard.

I code a lot and I email a lot, and I can type on this thing for hours without any wrist or hand strain. The only real drawback is that it's ruined other keyboards for me. When I use a standard straight keyboard, I'm now much more aware of just how awkward and uncomfortable it is. When I use any Apple keyboard, for example, my wrists hurt and my hands cramp after a few minutes.

I recommend this keyboard to anybody for whom comfort is a priority. You cannot beat a split ergonomic keyboard. There may be a bit of a learning curve for non touch typists, but the benefit to your body is well worth the investment.

A final note: I prefer this keyboard over the larger "pro" models because I don't need or like the extra keys for multimedia, etc. and this one is a bit smaller. Also, be advised that they Home/End/Delete/Page Up/Page Down/Insert keys and the arrow keys are not arranged in the standard way. I use all of these keys a lot, but the different placement has never been a problem for me. Microsoft Wired Natural Keyboard Elite Win PS2/USB English North America Black

Fair warning, this keyboard is not for the point and peck typer. And the touch typer will be annoyed for the first week or two until you get used to it.

That being said, I have replaced all of my keyboards with these. I actually carry one around in my laptop bag, and it doesn't exactly fit. Why am I such a fanatic about it? Simply, I spend 8-14 hours a day on the computer. Though I'm very athletic, and have strong arms and hands from years of rock climbing, kayaking, and lifting weights, all to fight off the typical computer jockey physique, at the end of a work day, my hands felt week and painful. I started using one of these as a last ditch effort to avoid going on disability.

The simple fact is that I can type faster, longer, and far more comfortably on these then on any other keyboard I have ever used. No, it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles. But I don't need them, or use them. If you can't do it with hot keys, your doing it wrong. This keyboard isn't for casual users, if you want email buttons on your keyboard, move along, this is not the keyboard you're looking for. If you type all day, and your hands, wrists, shoulders and neck are killing you, this is the keyboard for you.

There is a learning curve, but trust me, if you are a touch typer, it's worth the effort to get used to them. You will never go back. I know I haven't, and I've been using them for 15 years now.

Simply the best keyboards you will ever buy.

Now if MS's software were just as good we would really be getting someplace.

I have been a Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard user for quite a while. I like a fresh response and sometimes replace it every 6 months to a year. This model types about the same, feels about the same, and is smaller without a soft wrist wrest to the previous Microsoft models. That being said, it functions well, really does help with reducing my shoulder strain and I can type very efficiently on it.

So now for the drawbacks:

The arrow keys are strange. The up & down keys aren't back to back. To save space, the left and right arrows are back to back. This causes me a lot of heartburn because I'm a big arrow user. I'm still adjusting.

As well, the page up/down button area is also slightly different than the typical keyboard. If you're a big user of any of those keys, you may also want to be aware of the difference.

I do like this model because it fits my desk better, but the arrows issue still bothers me. We'll see if I can get used to it.

This is exactly what I was looking for and it shipped really fast. I got a new Windows 7 computer with a standard keyboard that I didn't like. This is exactly like the one I was used to, and it has the USB2 connection to work with my new system. It also has the PS2 connection to work with my husband's old system in case he needs it. And it comes in both black and white. Good product, [...] was a good company for the vendor. Thanks Amazon.

Watch the height if using on a computer desk with slide out keyboard drawer. Didn't think about this and since the height of the keyboard(2.6 according to manufacturer) is different from the regular flat keyboards(1.5 inch). When sliding the drawer in and out the keys rub the bottom of the desk even though I have a 2 and 1/4 inch gap between drawer and bottom of desk which is probably a pretty standard gap on computer desk, measure first. Other than that it is great. - Split Keyboard - Comfortable - Natural Keyboard - Keyboard'
