Great pack of prepared survival supplies. The emergency hand crank power "station" with flashlight, AM/FM radio, siren, cell phone charger is especially nice. We bought the deluxe kit for this. The water supply is not really adequate for a somewhat comfortable three days (but more would make it super heavy), so we added potable aqua water treatment tablets as well as a Sierra saw and Bic lighters among some other serious items we wanted. We also added some niceties, like small toothbrushes and mini toothpaste tube and kool-aid packets for flavoring purified water. Even with the extras everything fits nicely in the pack. We started thinking seriously about preparing for something like this after the earthquake/tsunami in Japan.

One of the real five star things about this pack is the great customer service that Ready America gives. Our pack was somehow missing the nitrile gloves and dust masks. I contacted the company and said it was a great kit as is, but that ours was missing those items and was there a chance we could get them. They responded right away, and even though my original response with mailing information got lost, they contacted me a few weeks later saying they hadn't heard back. That's excellent not only to respond, but to keep on top of the issue.

I just received this item and went through it very thoroughly. For the price and the purpose, I really have no complaints.

The pack fully loaded weighs about 20 pounds. The pack itself is small, and that 20 pounds seems more like 50 because the distribution is in such a small area. However, this is for emergency use, not for camping or hiking.

Once you remove the extra packing material on the "emergency power station" and the first aid kit, you definitely have some extra room for personal items.

Very nicely done.

Who would want to spend the money for something you hope never to use. Has almost all things necessary to survive the magic "3 days". I would have rated it 5-stars but there was no flint or other fire starter. For all "Boy Scouts" out there, a must have.

Somebody put alot of thought into this product. I removed some of the packaging of the contents and added a few extra items important to our particular needs.

People seem to put this sort of purchase off, then wish they had it when a disaster strikes. Don't wait until it is too late. It is like insurance, you hope you will never need it, but damn glad you have it if you get stuck in a situation. If you are counting on the government to take care of you in a disaster event, that could take days for help to finally arrive. This kit will help in the meantime.

Only received four liters of water. After researching this further, it is only enough for one day for four. When I contacted customer service, they said I received what I should have.So, I had to find another merchant to purchase what I originally intended. I'm concerned some families won't realize they didn't get sufficient water, and it could have horrible consequences in an emergency.

Product finally arrived with everything advertised. No where near the $89.00 cost. Most of the items could be bought at Dollar Tree or Wal-Mart for a 1/4 of their selling. I would return the item except for all the trouble I had getting the item.

We just moved to Tornado Alley and needed a kit. Bought this one for the 4-in-1 Power Station and every thing looks great. The radio feature was a little hard to dial in at first but apparently our NOAA station near us was damaged in a storm so not sure how well it will work once it is repaired. Flashlight is nice and bright and recharges quickly. Backpack is full when you first receive it however once you take out the extra packing and rearrange everything there's plenty of room for extras. I put baby items in for our son and some walkie talkies.

This emergency kit is priced too high. The quality of items in the package is either average or below average. The first-aid kit includes only very basic items. The "emergency whistle" is like a toy you may find in a kid's goodie bag. Niles - niles, audio

This is a high quality component that I would recommend. The volume is smooth and the clicks are a nice feature. Easy to install. One issue is it is a big unit to fit into a single gang mount with the speaker cables. Need to be careful pushing all that in. I love the Niles speaker cable connectors. I agree with other people who left their feedback. I am very happy with this product. It is high quality, and it solved my issue with dual speaker zones being either too loud or not loud enough. Now I can customize the volume in both zones with no loss of sound quality.

The build quality is excellent (item is quite heavy) and it clicks to different volume levels (which appear to connect to different taps on the built in transformer looking thing). Avoids any scratchy sounds you get on the potentiometer type volume controls.

Includes two wall plates to match either decorator or standard outlet cover styles.

I purchased this volume knob for a bathroom and it works great! I've got 3 other identical volume controls and have had them for several years and each one works flawlessly. Very good design, easy installation (assuming you have done the wiring)

Automatic Watch - automatic, dive watch

My uncle had been wearing the Seiko SKX007 (although his may be a different model number) since the early 80s. I was a little kid back then and I may not have consciously noticed his watch, But his watch must have left some impact, because I've always been partial to divers watches, and currently own several. These include two quartz Bulovas, one quartz Swatch, and most recently an automatic Omega Seamaster Professional (the James Bond model). The Bulovas were OK, the Swatch is a piece of garbage, and the Omega is just a delight to own.

And yet, none of these ever seemed to match my mind's idealized image of what a divers watch should be.

A short time after buying the Omega, I came across the Seiko on some watch aficionado website. I recognized it as the watch my uncle has worn all these years and was surprised to realize that this very watch was the image against which I judged all other diver watches. I wanted it badly. But having just spent a bundle on a watch I couldn't justify the purchase.

Until the end of December. Out of nowhere, my not-a-year-old Omega started gaining close to an hour a day!! A bizarre circumstance followed by an immediate delivery to the local Omega authorized dealer. It would take nearly a month until my watch was repaired and returned.

What's a guy to do? I knew .... I went to Amazon and bought the Seiko I always wanted. An automatic and the less expensive model; the pricier model has square number markers, not circles.

Always the pessimist, I prepared myself for disappointment. I hadn't seen my uncle's watch for some time and just expected a let down of some sort. I was concerned the face would just look radically different from what I hoped for, and I'd be stuck with a watch I didn't want to wear. And despite my fears, I kept heading to the window all morning on the day the watch was scheduled to arrive.

Finally, the UPS truck pulled up in front of my house and sure enough, he was holding my new "replacement" watch. I opened the box and out came the watch I always wanted --- looking and feeling exactly as I had wished.

Now I regularly alternate between my $2000 Omega and my $200 Seiko. It keeps perfect time! It is aesthetically fantastic! And it just feels great on my wrist! It is big, and the rubber band is not elegant. But 'not elegant' in the sense that it looks out of place when I wear it with a suit. But in any other situation, it looks just right.

Here are some observations: The face is beautiful. The band is thick and rugged, the antithesis of cheap or flimsy. The luminescence stays luminescent for hours into the dark. The automatic second hand sweep is graceful and solid. The case is unbrushed steel, substantial in weight, and heavy-duty like industrial strength machinery. The top of the lugs are brushed steel and the contrast only enhances the watch's natural good looks. The screw-down crown is BIG and has deep grooves, which makes it easy to screw and unscrew, not to mention set.

The bezel is my favorite feature because the grooves on the side are designed for serious use. If you want to turn that unidirectional bezel, be assured -- it will not slip. The watch is so solid that you can only conclude that conventional opinion, at least someone still makes it like they used to.

For balance, I'll mention the one and only aspect of the watch that I would prefer were different. You cannot stop the second hand. Even as you're setting the time, the second hand continues to move, making it impossible to perfectly synchronize the watch with an atomic clock. Then again, hopefully not everyone is like me, and has to have a perfectly synchronized watch.

To conclude, obviously I highly, highly recommend the Seiko SKX007. Keep in mind: if hard-core diver watches are NOT your thing, you may quickly realize that this watch is way too much watch to handle. But if you're a diver watch lover like me -- even if, like me, you've never worn a wet suit in your life -- this watch is as much the real deal as you'll ever get. I had a Seiko Men's Diver's Watch for about 10 years, and it was great. Reading reviews on several of the Seiko models, I saw several complaints about watches gaining time; the SKX007K didn't have any of those complaints, so I went with it. It arrived looking great, and worked very well... for about a month.

Well, for the last two days it's been gaining between 5 and 10 minutes an hour. I just emailed the seller (I'm in Iraq and can't call). We'll see how responsive and user-friendly they are, but bear in mind your chances of getting a problem watch. Check the number of positive reviews, count how many complaints of gaining time (and I don't mean something trivial like gaining 3 seconds a day), and calculate the chances of having to go through what I'm dealing with now.

Received my watch from Amazon about a week ago. Looks great! Better looking than the newer version SKX173 which Amazon sells for $193.00. The SKX007 is the last of this classic diver from Seiko. Better looking dial, doesn't say "Movement Malaysia" on back like the SKX173. Mine is picking up about 10 to 15 seconds a day which is not only well within the boundaries of a mechanical watch but normal for this Seiko when new. They tend to slow a little after 3 to 6 months of wear and then keep excellent time for up to 10 years without even a cleaning!

It is always a joy when I put this watch on. It feels so perfect as a dive watch and I can't stop grinning from its build quality.

1 - The way the bezel ratches as it rotates (120 clicks per rotation) feels so incredibly precise that I can't help myself from playing with it like a little kid.

2 - I have yet to scratch the glass though I've dropped the watch a couple times. While the glass is not saphire, my research on the different watch forums informs me that it should be pretty scratch resistant (very few complaints).

3 - My watch runs about 15 seconds fast every day which is great for an automatic watch.

4 - The Lume on my watch is excellent and lasts all night.

5 - As a whole this watch is more than the sum of its parts and is, in my estimation, as equal in quality as watches many times its price.

I think you will be as delighted as I am if you get this watch. I like the band that it came with but currently have a zulu strap on it. In case you were wondering the lugs are 22mm if you are interested in an aftermarket strap. - Automatic Movement - Automatic Watch - Automatic - Dive Watch'

Garmin Nuvi 255 - garmin, nuvi

I ordered this from Amazon.com and got it as promissed. It was a refurbished unit that looked like new. I went to update the maps on the unit and the Garmin website said the unit was registered 5 months ago. I emailed and explained I purchased a refurbished unit from Amazon and it was eligible for a map update. It took a number of emails to finally authorize this free update. Beware if you purchase a refrubished unit as you will likely go through this same hassle.

The unit itself worked as advertised and the map update took about 90 minutes, not hours as other have reported (unless you include the hassle with Garmin trying to get the update). I purchased an extended warranty as newer electronics don't seem to be as robust as the older stuff.

So far, so good. Garmin nüvi 255 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)

I have had this unit for over a year, and I have yet to find any major problems with the product. It was refurbished from newegg.com, and I was amazed by the amount of great reviews for a product that is much older and has less features than the current models. I think the simplicity of it is what makes it continually one of the best models around. I don't need bluetooth, an sd slot, or any of the features that are packed in the current Garmin products. I need something that will take me from point A to point B without any problems. This fits my requirements.

There are two minor problems that I have with this device. The first is the battery life. Because it's in the car, I can easily connect it through the cigarette lighter, but recently I've noticed that it will not hold a charge for more than a minute. This could be due to how old the product is and how much I use it, but it doesn't affect the quality of the device.

The other problem is that although I am able to get to my destination, I find that it will give me funky directions. Granted, these are routes that I would have never thought of, so it's a good thing that it gives me a choice. When I first purchased the product, the first thing I did was use it day to day to see how responsive it is and if the directions were correct. It's always correct, but the only difference is that it might show you a different way.

There are times when it takes the device quite a while to acquire satellite. Places like San Francisco are incredibly difficult due to all of the cables that interfere. But usually upon start up, it takes no more than one or two minutes. I usually roll down my window and put the device outside of the window. I'm not sure if this helps or not, but it's almost like giving the Garmin an ultimatum. It always works.

The greatest feature of this product is the reliability. Over the past year I have gone through one major road trip, countless interviews, and endless last minute trips. I have never been lost once. I was considering purchasing the newest Garmin, but I think I'll wait until this one completely dies. It's too valuable to replace.

The features I find cool are a bit outdated. While people can dial phone numbers with their devices, I'm still rejoicing in the fact that I can save favorite locations. Other people can put pictures into their device, and I love that it shows different rest stops and restaurants. This product doesn't boast an endless list of features. What it lacks in features, it makes up for in quality for what the product should be: a gps navigator for anyone to use. Don't think that price means quality, or added features mean reliability or usefulness.

I am very happy with this factory refurbished nuvi 255. I got it for a great price. The unit looks brand new. The nuvi is very easy to use- works right out of the box with out even consulting the manual. Using it is very intuitive.

You do need to obtain a proper USB cable to update the unit with your computer. It is an easily obtained USB- miniUSB cable that is commonly used for cameras, etc. The first map update is free. Updating the map from start to finish did take a little less than 3 hours for me.

This is a wonderful little GPS and is great for your first foray into vehicle GPS products. Cheaper, factory refurbished items are great to test out the functionality of these devices, as brand new ones are rather expensive and if you buy one with a difficult interface, you either need to sell and replace, or work with the unit and it's difficulties, or shell out even more for a different one and pass it on to a family member as a gift.

It comes with a manual, car cigarette lighter charger, suction mount, a sticky mount to stick onto the dash and use the suction mount in case your state does not allow items on the windshield, and the GPS unit itself. The manual says nuvi 205 in bold text, though if you read the entire cover it states this manual is for all nuvi 2xx units. One manual fits all, so your unit may not have some bells and whistles that the others have.

First-time setup is nice and it helps you through very well. Setting up your one free map update (ships with 2009 map) is simple, although since these are refurbished you may need to contact Garmin if they claim the free map update was already used. Make sure your unit is fully charged, as you cannot charge your GPS while updating it. Also, you need to charge the unit for at least an hour before initial set-up, as again, power and data cannot come through at the same time, apparently.

The initial satellite link can be a little slow, but once you are linked, it becomes much faster on subsequent uses. You do want to be 20+ feet away from tall obstructions such as houses and trees for this initial link. Afterwards, when you start it in your car, it connects quickly.

So far, when I verify I enter in the correct address, it gives me correct directions. However, entering in the address can be problematic. When you enter info to generate directions, the unit asks for the state, then city, then mailing number, then mailing road. As you punch in this info (the touch screen is pretty accurate and is not slow behind your touches) it will let you enter a certain amount, and when it narrows down your entry to a few locations, it displays a few potential cities and street names that could potentially be your desired destination. I have not checked to see if this can be turned off, but in the case of house addresses, this can display all variations if there are multiple possible addresses in large cities (For example: 123 7th St NW, 123 7th St NE, 123 7th St SW, and 123 7th St SE). So, this is a nice shortcut for smaller towns, but get into a city where there are multiple variations based by location quarters, you might accidentally hit the wrong address. This did happen to me once so far, and ended up at the SW address instead of the SE address. Partially my fault for not double checking the address, but if I could type in the entire address myself, the only time I would be wrong is if I enter in an invalid address (which would tell me it does not exist, as i have mistyped an address). Also, for being touch based entry, I have not been able to touch the place where I mistyped and correct the error, I have to erase the entire entry to that point. Minor nitpicking, as this does possibility of correcting does not function well on the iPod Touch.

Overall, if you want a great basic GPS and don't need the extra functions of the more expensive models, get this factory refurbished nuvi 255. - Gps - Nuvi - Garmin - Blueproton'

Replacement Battery

This charger is really cheap and works with my DV4 series laptop. It charges the battery and does everything a normal charger should do for a fraction of the price compared to the chargers available at retail stores. It also does have a light on it to tell you if it is on. However, it does have some major drawbacks. One, the cord is a bit shorter than the original. Not a big deal, but it is annoying sometimes. Two, when I plug this charger into my laptop, I can hear a high pitched noise emanating from my computer; this is certainly not the case with my other original HP charger. When I plug any of my monitors into my laptop with the new charger in, the screen becomes shaky and unstable, like it is receiving interference. When I use my regular HP charger, the problem goes away. Thus, this leads me to believe that there is a problem with the way the chargers are manufactured.

Even though the price was really good, it makes me hesitant to use this charger because I am afraid that it might destroy my laptop in the long run. I would say this is a good charger to use only when no other options are available. If I knew this information when I bought the charger, I wouldn't have bought it. I was skeptical with this being $15 cheaper than others but it works fine. I got a second one for work. Now I have one for work and home offices that I don't have to unplug. I keep the original in my laptop case for the road.

Only thing to be aware of is the cord is slightly shorter than original. It is not too short by any means but it is shorter by a foot or so. So if you need this for a lengthy reach then make sure you get an extension cord or buy something else.

I got this adapter as a replacement for my sons laptop 3 months ago. A few days ago it started making noise and overheated and melted! Good thing we were home, it would have burned the house down. This is a piece of junk. STAY AWAY!

THIS ADAPTER CAUSED MY LAPTOP TO SHORT CIRCUIT AND CATCH FIRE!

Just because an adapter is listed to be compatible with your laptop DOES NOT MEAN IT IS! I'm not an expert and cannot properly explain it, but a technologically capable friend of mine told me that the voltage of this adapter wasn't the same as my old adapter, and the difference caused my computer to short circuit and go up in smoke. And because this happened with a replacement adapter and not the original given to me by HP, my warranty doesn't mean a damn thing. So please check to make sure the voltage is the same, I'd hate for someone to go through what I just went through!

GO WITH THE SURE THING! I really wish I would have spent the money on one approved by HP! I TRIED TO SAVE FORTY BUCKS AND NOW I HAVE TO COME UP WITH 700 FOR A NEW COMPUTER! I AM SO FULL OF RAGE.

What I paid for, and expected, was a charger that would perform up to industry standard and last AT LEAST six months. That didn't happen.

The product is horrible. Charged the laptop just fine(although it did overheat) for the first two weeks, developed a short in the next week, stopped charging completely within a month. Even the housing around the innards was poor, the cords couldn't stand up to BASIC wear and tear. Do yourself a favor, and just spring for the expensive HP replacement.

i bought this charger amazed at the price and when i received it, it worked great for around the first month but then it stopped fully charging my laptop and now doesnt even work!! then i contacted the seller and they havent answered me so i dont know what to do because i have a 12 month warrenty and i cant use it because the seller will not contact me back!!!! i am sooooo dissappointed with this product and strongly suggest you DO NOT BUY IT!!

I purchased this product because it was cheap and I didn't do much research on AC adapters. Next time, I will be more conscious about what I purchase. Not only was I shocked every time I plugged in the cord, the cord would generate an excessive amount of heat. After only a few uses, my computer started running slower, and now over-heats. Upon further inspection by an expert, I found out the plug was not properly grounded (despite having a 3rd prong), and the amperage it was outputting was much higher than it claimed... thereby melting my computer. Awesome right?

Anyway, I have since returned this cord, and have purchased a much better one. In my opinion this AC adapter is a waste of time and money. For the safety of your outlets and your computer buy something else.'

Battery Operated - lithium-ion, sawzall

First off, if you put this side to side with a corded super Sawzall, the Sawzall will win hands down. For what it is, the Makita is a truly amazing product.

Some quick points / comments:

Never had any problems with changing the blades and I regularly get mine full of mud using it with a long blade to cut out tree roots.

The Batteries last about 12 minutes if your using it really hard, and they get very hot and take 30-40 minutes before they are charged again, due to the additional time required to cool them. If your going to really use this saw hard on a regular basis, buy more batteries.

I used this saw with a 12" blade in it to cut down a 47 year old spruce tree when my chain saw wasn't available. It was over 15" thick. Took the saw a while, but it did it.

I've cut metal, plaster, metal lath, 4x4's, lots of conduit, lots of tree trimming / pruning, etc. It's really worked well on all of it.

One suggestion, you get what you pay for in terms of blades. I think the Bosch blades are some of the very best. Lenox blades are also very good, but tend to warp from the heat during heavy use more than the bosch blades do. The Milwaukee blades are pretty decent.

It likely won't replace your super sawzall for really heavy demo work, but for everything else, I think it is just an amazing tool. Bare-Tool Makita BJR182Z 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only, No Battery)

I read the reviews before purchasing the Makita BJR 182 but no one mentioned the differences between this one and the Makita BJR 181 at twice the price. Once I got my new saw I found out what the differences were. The 182 doesn't have the rafter hook that the 181 has (no big deal for me - I've never used it anyway) and it also doesn't have the LED lights that ALL the other Makita 18V Lithium Ion LXT tools that I own have. That was a big disappointment - I love how the LED lights allow you to work in dark areas without the need for a worklight.

First a bit about my setup and other tools.

I originally bought a Makita Drill complete with 2 small batteries and a charger.

I then bought a circular saw and realized after purchase that it requires the larger batteries.

Unlike some reviewers I did not remove the tag from the smaller battery to make it fit. Instead I bought a pair of replacement batteries. As a result I can confirm the following for those who wonder:

- the smaller batteries do not fit in the tools requiring a larger (18v) battery.

- the larger 18v battery does fit in tools that use the smaller battery.

- the charger works for all the battery types.

- it takes as long to run a battery down as it does to charge one, so have 2 batteries of each type.

Now about this tool.

Simply put, it is awesome. I have used it to:

- cut small and large tree roots in the muddy ground

- cut the plastic pot away from a thorny plant that could not easily be removed from the pot.

- cut down small trees

- prune off branches to make them fit better in the disposal bin

- hack off half of a faucet i could not remove otherwise from the sink

- hack off the grocery store's anti-theft seal from a bottle of Tequila

(if you self-checkout make sure to remember to ask the attendant to remove it before leaving the store)

- trim rolls of turf that were too wide for the section of yard I placed them in

- tear down walls

I have used several blades some named brand and some generic. All have installed and worked fine.

The only issue I have encountered is with the lock on blade guard. It was not clear which button position "lock" was. Its simple enough to check manually tho.

I've used this saw for cutting old construction lumber, tree branches, plastic pipe, and metal. It works like a champ. Surprising amount of power for a cordless.

One of the other reviewers noted that the blade falls out after a while. I asked a Makita rep about this and he said that sawdust can get into the blade opening (sawing overhead) and this prevents the blade from going in all the way (even though it seems secure). I have noticed this, but blowing it out with compressed air makes it as good as new. The blade mounting style is superior to my Milwaukee sawzall. On the Makita you rotate the blade lock 45 degrees and it clicks open and stays there. Then you insert the blade with one hand and it automatically rotates back to lock the blade in - so much nicer.

Yes, it uses all the standard blades.

Well worth the price.

Balance and power are amazing. I held off on the cordless forever as I felt even 3AH, 18volt power was insufficient for the work I usually require of my recip.

I have a Makita driver drill, impact driver and circular saw along with 4 of the 3AH 18volt batteries.

Amazon knows my weakness so when they offered a sale on the bare tool recip, I bit.

So glad I did! It's very liberating not to have to deal with the cord, but everyone knows that. The surprise to me was that this saw is the real deal. It will hold up to pro use which is often more abuse than use and it will do the job. I haven't cut any 6x6's with it yet, but it hardly even notices 2x4's so I don't forsee any problems. I'm very happy I finally made the leap to cordless and I'm convinced Makita is the best choice.

I bought this tool to compliment the drill and impact driver kit I purchased. I am not a contractor, so this tool doesn't see heavy duty use all the time. I use it mostly for small projects, and for pruning; where portability is a must. Battery life is surprisingly good, and power is too. Blade changes are easy, and the footplate adjustability is a welcomed feature. I like that it has an "electric brake" which means the blade stops as soon as the trigger is released. This is a great tool, with well designed ergonomics (like most, if not all Makita tools) to include light weight.
