I have been using my Canon PowerShot S30 camera for a couple of years now. When I purchased it, I also purchased an extra generic rechargeable battery pack to go with it. At the time I figured I would save the money and name brands are not always better. Looking back on it, I wish I sould have spent the extra $25 and gotten a Canon battery. The generic battery only lasts about a 1/4 of the time that my Canon battery does. Also after a couple of years of use my Canon is still running strong while my generic battery barely lasts at all. I am now getting ready to purchase a second battery for my Canon for a family trip in September and I will only be purchasing a Canon brand battery.



THE BOTTOM LINE: If you are going to be cheap and a penny pincher, then you are going to get a cheap worthless battery. If you want a battery that will keep its charge and that you can count on, buy a Canon battery. This battery is long-lasting! I own two of them for my Digital Rebel XT camera!



I also (until recently) had the Canon S50 camera and the battery did very well with it!



This battery seems to charge very fast too!



I think it is well-worth buying 2 of them, but the battery lasts so long that you can easily get by with only one!

If you use AI focus along with an IS lens a lot make sure you buy about 4 of these if you plan to shoot for more than a few hours in a day without recharging. I can get about 1,000 pictures out of two when used with the Rebel XT and battery grip when I am not using AI focus. But with AI activated I have been left without any juice on several occasions. That is why I ordered two more of these, to make sure I can get 3-4 hours of AI focus shooting without having to recharge.

With all the recent news about Chinese knockoffs of digital camera batteries, especially on Ebay, getting genuine Canon batteries is a priority for me. Why try to save a few dollars on an off-brand battey and risk burning up the expensive camera? Not worth it to me.

Plus the Canon batteries have the capacity and life-span that you expect.

Pay the extra amount so you don't have to worry about damaging your camera.

I got an extra battery for my new Canon Digital Rebel XTI. The battery charges in one to two hours, takes hundreds of pictures, and lasts (at least) weeks in standby mode. In 6 weeks and over 400 pictures, I have charged the battery that came with the camera once, charged the spare, and the spare is now in the camera, still showing full charge. Quite a change from even a couple of years ago when digital camera batteries took 50 pictures or so and lost charge in a few days.



I know people who have gotten 3rd party products for other Canon cameras (not this one) and these did not work. The Canon is more expensive, but I consider it worth the extra.

I've been using these in the Rebel XT since about two weeks. On Friday I went to a show at a local bar and took about 600 shots in medium to low light conditions (just small stage lights lighting up the band) and finally killed the battery after about 2 1/2 hours/600 shots.

What else should I say? Just imagine you are running out of battery during a precious trip you planned a long time. For my XTi, each pack can take at least 400 photos with 10% flash usage. The recharging only takes about 1 hours.

I spend several days at a time in the forest on horseback - no convenient way to recharge a battery pack. I have a Rebel XTi and have yet to run out of power whether shooting wildlife during the day or around the campfire at night. Usb To Parallel Adapter Cable

I used it to connect an old Canon BJ-200E printer to a new Dell desktop. Win XP did indeed recognize and install the printer as soon as I plugged it in - no additional drivers were necessary - but I still needed to run the "Add Printer" wizard to get it to appear on my printer list. Then I went into the printer properties and switched from the standard printer port to USB. That was it. **Note that the manufacturer specifies WIN 98SE/2000/XP and Mac OS v8.6-9.2.

When I bought a new iMac to replace an old Dell, I joined a growing family of computer owners. Our laser and inkjet printers are too young to toss out but our new computers don't have a parallel port for a printer. Parallel and serial ports are disappearing, even on Intel/Windows machines.



The computer biz's solution: Come on, buy a snazzy new USB printer for that snazzy new computer! Apple doesn't even list my HP LaserJet 6L among compatible printers for the iMac. Could they be in cahoots? Hmmm . . .



The LaserJet still prints out a razor-sharp manuscript. With a little maintenance now and then, I can get more value out of it than I would for the price of a new printer. Off I went in search of a solution, but at all the usual brick-n-mortars, a simple USB-to-parallel cable was half a C-note!



Back here on Amazon.com, I found this Sabrent cable. Though most of the reviews extoll its virtues on Windows machines, I figured I could gamble the cost.



I hit the jackpot. With the price of shipping, the cable is less than half the lowest price I found. Even better, the iMac already had (or found on the Internet) a driver for the cable, and then hunted up a public domain driver for the LaserJet that works like a charm.



So, a 21st century computer has found the perfect mate in a printer from the late 1990s. And they lived happily ever after.

I have an HP LaserJet 4L that still works just fine, but my laptop is too new and doesn't have a parallel port. I wasn't sure there would be any easy solution to this problem, so I did my homework before buying this cable and it was still wrong.



The product information's claim that this cable will work with all parallel printers is simply wrong. Although I gather from the other reviews that there are 4Ls this cable does work with, it certainly doesn't work with mine, whose plug is 25-pin-- not exactly an uncommon configuration, since it worked fine on a laptop only slightly older than my current one.



Worse, although the product information doesn't include pictures close enough to confirm that the female parallel end will work, Tiger Direct now won't accept the cable back because it isn't defective-- just wrong, and useless.



It's odd, too, that Tiger Direct would bother being so vague in the product information, because they do sell a cable that would be compatible with my [very common] printer, and to which they could presumably point customers with a similar setup without losing business. Now, though, I won't be purchasing the correct cable from them.

I recently upgraded to a motherboard that didn't come with an on-board parallel port. That was a slight problem since I use an old Apple LaserWriter Select 360 as my printer and still wanted to use it with this new motherboard. I was looking for a parallel-to-usb cable and came across this one and decided to try it out. Installation was a breeze. I plugged it into one of my usb ports and Windows XP Pro SP2 immediately recognized and installed the drivers for me. I then had to change the printer preference so that it would use the "usb port" instead of the usual LPT1 port for parallel port. I am happy to say that I can still use my trusty Apple LaserWriter with my Windows PC.

I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on this cable. I didn't know the manufacturer, either. However, it functioned just as advertised, straight out of the box. I have an old printer (HP DeskJet 720c) that has a parallel connection on it, and I just bought a new laptop with no parallel ports. I didn't want to bother with a docking station, so I bought this cable. I plugged it in, ran the add printer wizard that popped up in XP as soon as it detected my printer, and have had no problems since. I am thoroughly satisfied.'

After buying several HDMI cables from Mediabridge and being very satisfied, when I needed a Toslink cable this was the first place I looked. I was not disappointed! Just like my experience with their HDMI cables, a quality product, simple packaging and no hassles. And don't forget the pricing. The local big box store would have sold me a comparable cable for 2-3 times the price that would be packaged in a plastic torture package. Next time I need one, I will be clicking right here!

This is the first optical cable I have purchased from Mediabridge but have used 3 of their HDMI cables in various lengths and have had no problems with them.

I have had a few different makes of Toslink cables, but always settled for the lower end versions because of the high cost of name-brand cable. Like almost everything- you get what you pay for- very thin sheathing over the fiber optic and just felt like they would snap at any minute. I had a couple of failures due to moving a component and the cat pulled on one and the fiber snapped inside.

This cable's sheathing is easily 3 times thicker than the low-cost cables and compared to my most expensive cable it is noticeably thicker and also the Toslink connectors seem to be of a higher quality.

I use this between my old DVD player which doesn't have HDMI to connect to my receiver to listen to CDs. I know- why would anyone use that when they have a Blu ray player, XM radio, and their home PC all connected to their home theater system? I'm not sure..cause it still works and I hate to throw it away, maybe.

Nose Trimmer - nose trimmer, ear hair

The family convinced me it was time to trim my nose hairs, so I purchased this Panasonic personal grooming device. It is compact, runs on a single AA battery, comes apart for cleaning, uses stainless steel blades, and seems safe to use.Unfortunately, it does not cut nose hairs. It vibrates, tickles, and twirls them around, but too often fails to actually trim them off. In addition, the non-replaceable blade is designed to wear out after about two years of use.There must be better products on the market.Note: My experience is with the ER115KC version of this product, which is a washable variation of the ER112BC product.

The negative reviews are correct. I too had problems with the switch not working and the blades spinning inconsistently. The plastic nozzle that houses the blades is held on with tiny plastic hooks, which eventually broke making my trimmer useless.

I purchased this thing over a year ago from Amazon. You people LIED to me! I'm shopping for a replacement! Seriously though, it has some problems: 1. The switch doesn't make very good contact, so you end up switching it on and off a few times to get it to start. 2. It's underpowered, so it starts up kind of slow, and you wonder if it is up to the task. One AA battery isn't enough. 3. The cutters seem cheap and don't trim very closely. 4. Overall sound and feel is cheesy. This is NOT a precision instrument.

Don't let the name Panasonic fool you. This is a cheap toy. Mine got slower and slower, fresh batteries made little difference. It didn't even last a year. Spend a little more and get a better one.E.L.

I use this about 1x / month. It cuts the nose and ear hair.



Being an engineer and having one for over 5 years I know that

one of the problems has to do with the contacts becoming dirty/

corroded. The solution is to clean the contacts thoroghly.

I mean very very thoroughly.



And use a new AA battery. I have even had fine use with a rechargable battery. But I have experienced troubles that were

traced back to corroded battery contacts. I think the reason

for this is that when the metal gets wet it will eventually

corrode.



Also leaking batteries from putting the unit away for a long time

with an low battery will cause damage to any circuitry when a

battery leaks a bit of alkaline material.



Consider complaining to the battery company for this kind of problem.



Overall this unit is exactly worth the price you pay for it.

It does cut my hair which is coarse but I'm Arabic. Maybe a

Black person should avoid this. Or maybe a Blonde person should avoid it. I have not tested it on my friends.



It does tickle the nose. That kind of drives me nuts. But there

is not much to do but tolerate it. It does give a close shave 'up there' if you move it around and around.



Enjoy the cutter. I do.

After searching in the price range of under $30 dollars for a nose hair trimmer I realized that they were all going to be battery powered. I decided to go with this little "bad boy." Let me just start by saying that if you are looking to buy this product, you better have three inch nose hairs because this little device is unable to trim my nose hairs. Basically you have two small blades attached to two plastic hooks. The plastic hooks are spun by a plastic notch (hint: all plastic usually means garbage.) Since it is only powered by one battery it lacks power. Just to see if this thing really could cut hair I tried to trim a piece of hair on my head and just as I expected it whipped the piece of hair around in a circular motion failing to cut it. Bottom line, this is a very poorly made product (Made in China) with a Panasonic logo that should NOT be on this product. I have never purchased anything by Panasonic that was made this poorly.

I've purchased 2 of these over the years. It worked to a point but not very efficiently. You can do better and faster with a pair of scissors, if you know what I mean. They are also very fragile, both of mine shattered into pieces from dropping onto the bathroom floor by accident.

You should think about using eye-watering tweezers rather than buy this product. I gave up using it after the first few attempts because, amazingly, it doesn't cut hair! You spend 5 minutes trying to align each hair so that it will enter the nozzle at the right angle to cut. Even then, the blades tend to push the hairs out of the way rather than cut them. It even managed to scratch the inside of my nose because I was pushing too hard to make it work. A bit of a design flaw for a hair trimmer!

I've tried a lot of different nose/ear trimmer even the lighted Panasonic ER421KC trimmer. That one rips your hair out and runs out of batteries quickly. I did like the trimmers that they show on TV that have a little trimmer on one side but those get disgusting after using them for a while even if you wash them off and they bog down easily. I got fed up and bought this and I was VERY pleased. It is fast and powerful. They use to make a water proof version but I cant find it. I have a 40 year old house that I have been doing a bit of work on - including adding outlets and wiring for data ports among other things. I picked this little wall board saw to help in these efforts and I am truly impreressed with its performance. The teeth cut VERY agressively, which is a huge plus when you have a lot of holes to cut. I am also very pleased with the comfort of the handle and the fact that the blade is rigid enough to "jab" it through drywall without having to drill a starter hole.

I don't remember exactly what project I bought this saw for, but i've been using it quite a bit in my back yard! The teeth are great and it saws quickly. I have been trying to plant a lot lately and i have too many roots in my back yard from the previous owner. I just stick this saw in the ground (of course knowing there aren't any pipes in the area!) and saw on through the pesky roots...I have used this saw more than my other hand saws for other odd projects as well. Comfortable and a great tool - even after using this saw on ALL KINDS of stuff, teeth are still running strong...

As a contractor for 15+ years, I've owned a number of drywall saws. While they're inherently "low-tech" devices, this Stanley stands out... Sharp tip, 2 rows of serrated teeth, and the back of the handle doesn't destroy your palm when you try to get the blade started... My $0.02.



I've owned a few of these, and many others including Kobalt brand, Greenlee, etc. Klein is the only one that compares (it's basically the same design but costs more). I'll stick with the Stanley...

I love stanley products and this saw is great and sharp and no sheath!! My old husky that this replaced came with a sheath so I just used that but I can't believe stanley would sell this without one. That's just makes no sense to me.

I was creating a couple of openings for new electrical sockets in my home; I had started them by drilling smaller holes around the area I needed to saw out, and though I was using a fairly sharp drill bit, it was quite a task to drill all the way through the 2-layer, 1" thick drywall I was up against. Enter Fat Max... and I mean that literally. That little sucker tore through that drywall like it was French bread, and I was done with both openings in less than five minutes, with much less effort than I expected it to be. This is my first experience using a saw like this, and its ease of use is already giving me more ideas for home improvement. My landlord will just have to deal with it.....

I've been using this saw for the past few months and love it!



It's great for punching small holes as well as cutting large sections of drywall. It also works well at cutting plastic gang boxes (don't ask... the people who built my condo apparently didn't understand the concept of 90 degree angles).



If you need to do any drywall work, get this saw. You won't regret it!

This isn't much of a big deal in tools. When I started making holes in the walls of our house my wife was freaking out! :) I just told her not to worry, and they would be covered. recommend this product and love it! just wish it was white and not black. the picture was white and the page did not say it was gonna be black or white but the picture was white so i assumed and it came to my house black. but the plate is behind a tv so no one see it anyhow! I saw the previous users review and wanted to say that this product works well for me.



However, I did think there RJ45 keystones were a bit touchy, I removed them and put my own in. Since I primary bought this for the HDMI insert and the ability to reconfigure the other keystones, this was not a big deal.



The HDMI and coax inserts work perfect I am able to get full 1080P using a 3 foot HDMI from my device into the jack, and a 15 ft HDMI cable from the back of the jack to the projector.



Also, I was able to remove the RCA and add another RJ45 with no problem.

I have used two of these plates and have been happy with the products. As another review mentioned the Ethernet jacks are on the cheap side and lack good quality construction. I substituted my own Ethernet jacks and have been happy with the results. I primarily bought this item for the HDMI Coupler with the extension. The coupler works like a charm. When installing the HDMI I would highly recommend that you tape the HDMI cable to the coupler. This will ensure that the cable doesn't disconnect. Overall a good product and I would recommend this product.

While combining these elements in a single plate is a great idea, you have to use the single outlet faceplate that comes with the product.



I have a 5 gang box and wanted to add this insert and use with a standard Decora 5 gang wall plate. The insert is not a standard Decora size. As the ad states, it fits on a standard electrical box, but a standard Decora wall plate will not fit over the insert. If this is the only component you need to add and want to add it separate from other boxes - as a single receptacle, the product works.



The Cat5 and RCA/Coax keystone couplers are standard and interchangeable. I needed 2 Coax keystone couplers so easily removed the RCA jack and added another Coax (purchased separately). This is not the case with the HDMI jack. While HDMI jacks are made in standard keystone couplers - this product is NOT a keystone. It is screwed into the insert itself and is not interchangeable. Because the insert is not the right size for a Decora outlet, I wanted to move the keystones to a standard 6-port Decora plate. I was unable to do this due to the HDMI jack.

I really like that this wall plate has so many interfaces, even though I was only looking for coaxial and Ethernet. It installed easily enough, but I had to re-crimp the ethernet connector 5 or 6 times before I could get successful connections. I recommend borrowing a cable tester when installing...

I'm writing this after having one of the Pyle HDMI mounts break and I was searching for a replacement. The HDMI is screwed to the plate with small screws that go into small plastic bosses. Any torque on the connector while bedding the plate (which doesn't fit Decora faceplates as previously noted) can break the HDMI mount. What I suggest is getting an HDMI keystone that pops into Leviton AV plates. If you can get cables with a right angle connector to hook up to the back, do so as it will lessen the strain on the keystone. Better yet, tape the cable, an elbow connector and the HDMI keystone. This is no place to have a less than fully bedded HDMI connector. Also the RJ-45 connectors are crap. They are a mass insulation displacement design which are impossible to trouble shoot as you have to take it apart to see the wires. Punching down individual wires is a pain but easy to fix.



FREE MONEY MAKING IDEA: make an HDMI keystone that has an integral elbow (a flexible elbow even better) pointing up with a pliable shroud around the inside connector to help keep the cable connector bedded. Make sure and have it extend rearward a bit before making the bend so it won't foul connections mounted above.

I bought this to install in my new basement. My projector was not producing any picture and even if it did it was grainy. After eliminating several other things I finally figured out that the HDMI connector in this wall mount was the culprit. Now I am ordering a new wall adapter to replace the HDMI adapter. I've been searching for a product that can extend the outlet on my bathroom for the electrical products that I use. I finally came across this Belkin mini surge protector and features:

Simple, elegant design in a smooth plastic casing of white and light grey colour. Once plugged, the green LED light will indicate if the power source is grounded.

DO NOT throw the prong cover that initially comes attached to the surge protector prong. As the manual states (for those who still care to read the User Manual these days), you can use this plastic prong cover to help further balance the device against any surface. You do this by inserting the plastic prong cover on the bottom of the surge device via a small notch. Also, the plastic cover is handy to use when traveling. Before dumping the surge protector along with your other devices, cover the prongs to prevent it from scratching other objects.



The prongs can be rotated 360 degrees loosely. However, there are 4 positions that enable you to lock it so it doesn't flail along clumsily in any direction. You do this by pressing into the rear a "release button". It's not a raised button, but a flat plastic portion that you have to press hard in order to release the lock. It's quite difficult (at least with the model I received) at first and feels like I'm going to break the plastic button. But I guess if this is normal then it can be construed as a safety measure so it doesn't easily rotate with a simple touch.



IMPROVEMENTS:



The term "mini" is subjective. It isn't really that compact as I would assume from seeing the photo. It is small, yes. However, as a surge protector that can take 3 AC and 2 USB outlets, I will give Belkin the benefit of naming it a mini device.



I would STRONGLY prefer the re-design of the spacing on the AC outlets by allowing larger plugs connected side-by-side. As it is right now, only normal AC plugs and not block-style plugs are allowed without loosing all three outlets. So my proposal is to delete the middle AC outlet and move it to the end-cap of the device (opposite to the 2 USB outlets). As of now, there is nothing there so rather than cramp the 3 AC plugs, then move the third at the end and thus allowing for block-style plugs to be used and still retaining the 3 AC functionality.



OVERALL:



I would not hesitate to recommend the purchase of this surge protection for compact spaces as well as travel purposes especially with the lifetime warranty and amount of protection is offers.



Take note of the selling price Amazon and the others are selling this at. It's ridiculous to see the selling price of this exact device can range anywhere from USD10 to USD30.



Lastly, BE AWARE of the SPECS so you know if the USB device you are plugging is capable of being charged. Belkin Mini Surge Protector Dual USB Charger

Nice hotel room companion for plugging in the laptop, cell phone, iPod, and iPhone when you only have one outlet. The 5v outputs are regulated very well. It's quite a bit larger than it appears in the photograph as well as modestly heavy. Calling it 'mini' is deceptive. It's also rated up to 125v so forget using it anywhere except North America (not mentioned in the technical specs). Otherwise, it's built sturdy as a brick and will endure any punishment your travels may inflict upon it.

To get directly to this items flaw... It cannot recharge/power more than one USB item at a time. So what's the point in having two USB outputs?

The 120V outlets work as advertised. The ability to rotate the prongs is a plus as it can be adjusted to most if not all outlets.

The USB power fails if more than one item at a time is plugged into the surge protector. Even if, say your phone is fully charged, if you go to connect another item to run or charge, the surge protector will not supply the power that both items demand. The items that are connected will act as if they have been disconnected from their power source, then once the surge protector accumulates enough power(not certain, but seem to act as if there are capacitors)to start supplying power once again the items connected to the USB ports start to operate briefly until the surge protector cannot supply enough power for the two items.

As stated before, it will supply ONE item with power, without a problem. But will not supply enough power for two, even if one item is fully charged. - Power Strip - Travel - Usb Charger - Belkin'
