NOTICE: This review is for the NEW 2009 160GB iPod Classic, NOT the 2007 160GB iPod Classic!



The new 160GB iPod Classic is easily Apple Inc.'s best iPod to date, and out of all of the iPods that I own, this is my favorite.



First, the capacity of this iPod is simply unbeatable. I've yet to see another portable media player that can match the iPod Classic in capacity. I have a huge music library, and it's nice to be able to carry every song that I own on my person at all times. What's more, thanks to the iPod Classic's capacity, I also have room to carry a few videos with me, and some of my photos. If you don't like having to pick which songs to load onto your portable media player, the iPod Classic is the way to go.



The second thing that I love about this iPod can be summed up in two words: it works. The 160GB iPod Classic that was introduced in 2007 was extremely buggy, had a non-responsive Clickwheel on many units, crashed frequently, and required a hit-and-miss firmware update to stop the hard drive from spinning even when the device was "off," which often lead to dead batteries. All of these problems left the 2007 160GB iPod Classic warming shelves and earning it the infamous "honor" of being the "worst selling iPod ever," according to Apple. I'm pleased to say that the new 160GB iPod Classic released earlier this month has virtually none of these problems. There's no "spinning hard drive bug," the Clickwheel is incredibly responsive, and the device isn't crash-prone. While it's true that many of these issues were fixed with last year's iPod Classic, there hasn't been a truly functional 160GB model until now. To put it bluntly, this is the iPod that Apple should've released in 2007.



Another thing that I really like about this iPod, and the iPod Classic in general, is it's ability to double as an external hard drive. While I believe that the iPod Nano is also capable of this, the only iPod that really has enough space to function as an external hard drive is the iPod Classic. The hard drive functionality admittedly reduces the number of devices I have to carry on me at any given time. If you regularly work with large files and are considering a new iPod, the iPod Classic is the way to go, plain and simple.



So what are the caveats? Well for starters, as with every other iPod Classic, this is a hard-drive (rather than flash-memory) based device. As a result, it has moving parts which make it unsuitable for running or any physical activity that exerts mechanical shock onto the iPod. Unless you exercise constantly with your iPod though, this really shouldn't be an issue. The only other caveat, which is more of personal taste than an actual flaw, that I can find, is that Apple has not made any cosmetic changes to this device since they introduced it in 2007. Now don't get me wrong, the point of an iPod "Classic," is to retain the "Classic" design, but after seeing how much better a black Clickwheel looks on the silver iPod Nano, I'd have thought that Apple would have given the silver iPod Classic a black Clickwheel as well. However, I admit that this is entirely my personal preference and not a "flaw" per se. I've put a quick list of pros and cons together, which can be seen below:





Pros: Largest iPod Capacity-wise, long battery life, "Genius" feature, excellent value for your money, well-built, doubles as an external hard drive, and improvements to Cover Flow.



Cons: Hard Drive (rather than Flash memory) based storage medium; device is cosmetically identical to the 2007 80GB model. (I still don't understand why Apple hasn't colored the Clickwheel black on the silver model to match the iPod Nano.)



Finally, I would highly recommend this product, which is why it gets five stars from me. I don't like the iPod Nano; it's too small for my hands, and the screen is too small for my eyes. While the iPod Touch may have app store access and Wi-Fi, I find it to be a really gimmicky device, that makes for a poor portable media player, (Apple was wise to position it as a handheld game system,) and is really an "iPhone without a phone." In contrast, the iPod Classic is an excellent portable media player, it has an excellent interface, and it only costs $249 dollars. To put things in perspective, the 2009 160GB iPod Classic costs $70 dollars more than a 16GB iPod Nano, and $150 dollars less than a 64GB iPod Touch. All in all, I highly recommend this product. This is the second iPod I own. The first one was a 30 Mb 5th Generation Ipod Video.





First, the plus.



There are many improvements in the 7th generation comparing it to the 5th, although I think most of them were introduced with the 6th Gen. The whole Cover Flow/Genius capabilities are definetly an improvement to the previous software. The games are a nice bonus. I've only had it for three days, but I can already see that I like the new interface a lot more.



And the disk space, I mean, WOW! The ipod is basically the same size as my 30 Gb one, but it's capacity is over 5 times bigger. I am an avid music fan, have tons of music, and my musical taste ranges from ambient to heavy metal, but I think it's going to be a long time before I fill this one up. I think this is the best feature of this iPod, and by itself, the reason you should buy it.



There are also video capabilities, which have always been a plus, and some other stuff, but I didn't see a major difference from the previous versions.





But then, why did I give it 4 stars? I wanted 4.5 stars, but Amazon doesn't let me do that.



Here are the cons.



First, as previous reviewers have stated, the sound quality seems to have downgraded from the 5th Gen iPod. The sound lacks depth, the songs sound more flat. I don't mean to say that the sound is bad, because it still has a very good sound, and I've tested it with headphones, computer speakers and my car stereo. I'm just saying that the 5th Generation iPod sounds better, and the difference is quite noticeable.



The other thing, which might be just my iPod, because I didn't see other reviewers mentioning it, is that the click wheel seems to be less sensitive/responsive than the 5th Generation one. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is annoying sometimes that you try so select a song or an option on the menu and the wheel doesn't respond right away.



There's also the fact that using Cover Flow seems to make the iPod proccess slower, but then again, loading the covers of literally thousands of records is not a quick task, and you can always not use Cover Flow, so I won't hold this against the iPod.





To sum it all up. If you have a lot of music and want to carry it all with you; if 30, 60, 80 or 120 Gb is just not enough; if this is your first iPod purchase, or if you just really, really like the new interface and games (I know I did), then I highly reccomend it, and you won't be dissapointed. To me this is definetly the best music player on the market. You will need to sit down and learn how to use iTunes, but when you do, you're just going to love this little gadget.



However, if you have a 5th generation iPod that's working just fine, and you prefer sound quality to disk space, you might not want to buy this one. Just try to be more more picky with the songs you put on it, I guess.'

So I've been trying to find a decent weather radio. One that you can disable certain alerts, one that pays attention to EOM (end of message) and one that doesn't look like junk sitting on the kitchen counter.



So far I've been blown away with the quality of this radio. Everything from the button feel to the LCD display is excellent. Surprisingly the quality of the internal speaker is good as well, the sound is nice.



Feature wise...



The radio does allow you to disable alerts! And it's easy to disable them as well. This is very useful when you don't care to be woken up for a thunderstorm *watch*.



The radio pays attention to EOM! At then end of each voice alert broadcast they play a tone to signify EOM (end of message). When the radio hears this tone it mutes itself. This is great if your in bed, laying down, in the other room or just don't want to go over to the radio. The radio will play the alert message then mute itself once the message is over. Some units like the midland (nearly every model they make) doesn't pay attention to this, and you get to keep hearing the same alert message repeating over and over until the 15 minute timer runs out.



The time and date will automatically set itself if you point it to a FM radio station that broadcasts the time/date via RDS. (I had to try a few different stations that broadcast RDS until I found one that did this; seems not all of them do in my area)



FM radio reception is excellent. To boot you get to see song name/Artist and radio station information scrolling on the screen.



I did find some of the instructions to be a bit not well translated. Like you have to have the weather radio set to "ON" or the "weather" button doesn't work. But really this is minor stuff, and you'll forget about it once you use it.



This radio is really a home run: great features, high quality and good aesthetics. Sangean CL-100 Table Top Public Alert Certified S.A.M.E. Weather Hazard Alert Radio

I've owned many weather radio's over the years and I like this one the best. Sound quality is very good on this radio. It has a good size speaker and bass / treb controls. The voice of the weather service is very clean and clear on this radio. The display is excellent. It displays all relevant information and is easily viewed from almost any angle. It has a brightness and contrast control as well as the ability to program the duration that the back light remains lit. Build quality is superb.



Update 01/25/2011: I have found a few minor annoyances with this radio. It allows you to disable the alert siren for things like the Required Weekly Test BUT you cannot disable the Voice Alert for the same alerts. What this means is that if your receiver is set to VOICE mode rather than Siren then you cannot disable the alert and are still forced to hear it go off. Also, you cannot set the alert volume for Voice Alert. I just got a Tornado warning and the damn thing blasts you out of the room at full volume. I don't know why Sangean overlooked this. If your radio is set to Siren you can set it to LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH volume.



I wonder if there will be some sort of software or firmware upgrade because in the menu there is a way to display the software version. Mine is version 1.11 dated June 24, 2010

In the past couple of years I have bought & returned SAME weather radios from several manufacturers (Radio Shack, Midland, Reecom and First Alert) due to poor quality and/or poor functionality.

I have owned a Sangean pocket radio for 6 years which works as if it is brand new so I was expecting the SL-100 to be a good radio. It has exceeded my expectations !! The SAME weather radio is easy to program & works perfectly. The AM/FM radio works very well even though we live in a highrise apartment in downtown Chicago where often AM/FM reception is poor. Sound quality is excellent for a small tabletop radio. The alarm clock works well also.

My only "complaint" is that the instruction booklet has some minor errors and could use some tweeking. However programming of this radio is somewhat intuitive even for someone like me who is technically challenged

I purchased this to replace a First Alert WX-268 that self destructed after a couple of years (the display went blank). This CL-100 is a much better unit. The controls are easier to use, the display is easier to read, and it is easier to program. Excellent reception and sound. The only issue is it really can't be used as a bedside alarm clock unless the table height is lower than the bed height due to the angle of the display. Overall, very happy with this purchase and would purchase again without a second thought.

Midland seems to be the standard to which all other weather radios are compared. Sangean's latest entry into the market really proves who is on top.



Midland radios are ubiquitous. Every store that sells weather radios displays them prominently. Unfortunately their build quality and feature set have taken steps backward in recent years. The last one I bought had a faulty antenna. Almost all the "top" receivers use the same, blocky, 16-character alphanumeric display they used 10 years ago.



Sangean's CL-100 greatly improves on readability with a nice pixel LCD display. The best features are EOM (End of Message) muting, the ability to switch off the alert siren for unwanted alerts (like thunderstorm watch). It also comes with a nice external antenna. The radio can set its own clock via a local FM station's RDS signal. The controls and user interface are leaps and bounds above any competitor's offerings. It could work perfectly as a combination weather and clock radio for the bedside, even offering stereo output for nicer speakers, although the internal mono speaker isn't a slouch.



The only cons I can think of have to do with the display itself. Although it's great, its lowest backlight setting is still too bright for my bedside. Also, there is no way to adjust the display's angle, making it hard to read unless the radio is at a level well below the bed, whatever the contrast setting. Wireless Speakers

These are great speakers. My husband put them up over the weekend and wow what spectacular sound. It was packaged well and came with all the mounting necessities. We love listening to 50's jazz and the crispness of the cymbals and the brushes on the snare give you chills. Never again will we go back to large bulky speakers. These are on the wall and out of the way. The seller got them to us quickly and we want to thank you Amazon for being there yet again. After doing a ton of research on outdoor speakers, I finally settled on these Yamahas, mainly because the price was so ridiculously low ($59.95 for the pair, including mounting hardware) that I felt I couldn't go wrong, especially since my next choice (Polk) would have cost me nearly twice as much.



I mounted these babies on the back wall of my house, about four feet apart, just under the eave, so that they pointed out at the deck. Although the mounting brackets are included, Yamaha does NOT include any screws to secure these brackets to the wall. I ended up using some 2-1/2 inch long wood screws...but your application may differ depending on how or with what your house is sided.



Yamaha also does NOT include speaker cable. I used some cheap 12-gauge stuff from Best Buy but 14 or 16-gauge lamp cord (also known as zip cord) from any hardware store will work just as well. Seeing as the speakers will be outside, I don't recommend the usual cheap, thin speaker cable that you normally see. Use the heavy stuff.



I hooked the Yamahas up to a Marantz 2240B receiver from the '70s and good God almighty, the sound is absolutely fantastic! Bass, you ask? The bass was so powerful, I had to turn the loudness control OFF! It seems that the location of the speakers up by the eave serves to reinforce the bass quite well, thank you.



Midrange comes through great. Both male and female vocals, as well as rock band stuff, is crystal clear. Nice highs as well. This system sounded so good that we ended up sitting outside until well after dark.



For something to sound as good as these speakers do, for as little money as I had to shell out, is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.

I read the excellent reviews for these speakers and was skeptical. However, the price was right so there wasn't much risk. So . . . I bought a pair. The reviews were spot on. They sound is terrific, the price was unbeatable, and look is very acceptable (even to my Interior Designer wife). Unless you are an audio perfectionist, you'll never get a better price/performance value.

When I first pulled these out of the box, I was disapointed at how light in weight the speakers were. Lets face it, small magnets, small sound. Instead of drilling holes in the wall I bought wall tracking at Home Depot that allows you to run wire thru it, concealing the wire & sticks to the wall. Drilled a small hole in the corner of the window and ran the wires outside(16 gauge speaker wire). Hung them at 10ft, spread about 15ft apart. The receiver in the house had to be placed on the "2 Channel" setting (stereo only) for them to work (did not work on Multiple Channel Setting). When I fired them up I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE SOUND. Excellent quality for the price. Tweeters are crisp, bass is just strong enough. The tracking from home Depot was just barely good enough to keep the wife from barking. You will be very pleased with these speakers.

these speakers look exactly as they appear in the photos. They have a clean, simple stylish design. They sound as good as we can expect for a speaker of the size enclosure. Maybe they sound even better than average. Mounting was as easy as 2 screws (not supplied) in the supplied brackets. There are several mounting options. The only negative is that the mounting brackets are 2 direction hinges and not swivel. No big deal, I knew that when I purchased.

I purchased this item several weeks ago for my deck. Easy to mount and sounds clear. Since then there has been heavy rain storms. Even after the speakers were soaked from all the rain, I pumped the music to them expecting them to sizzle and WOW! I heard music! The music that came out sounded great! Just like new. Great Speakers and can withstand the test of my loud outdoor parties.

i purchased this item over 1 yr ago and now i can review them correctly i set them up on our porch up under the eves i wired them with "monster wire" less distortion than other wires based on past exp.

they produce a great sound throught the whole front yard when i am out there its clean crisp and very clear they have held up very well look and act as new i would highly reccomend thease to anyone

and also the system i have them on is a high powered yamaha component system with amplifier and lots of extras i only mention this to say they work very well even in a "high powered" system unlike many others that can not take the watts from the amp..'

Exercise - omron pedometer, pedometer

This is a casual pedometer. This is not a scientific instrument.



My favorite thing about this pedometer is the clock -- it is summer in Arizona, and wearing a watch makes me itchy. Handy to have a clock on this thing.

The second best thing about the pedometer is the size -- it is slim and tinier than my MP3 player.



It is easy to set and easy to reset.



However, this baby counts steps I did not take. Seriously. Just putting it on a dresser overnight can pick up a couple of hundred steps on the counter (from traffic vibrations? who knows?)

Additionally, it is not sweat-resistant. I've tried it on a lanyard and in a pocket -- if you get it sweaty working out, the display goes blank.



I use it all the time as a clock -- it quite handy for that purpose. But it is basically useless at its designed function. Put a stopwatch and a beep timer on it, take away the step counter, and it would be a better product, in my opinion.

I got this pedometer at a store because its design was appealing, and pedometers can provide a lot of inspiration to exercising right. Now, I regret it, because its many cons have made it useless as a worthy tool to track steps.



Pros:



Mainly, the looks and design. Not only does this pedometer look cool, but its design is beneficial as well. It's so thin, that you can just slip it into a sock, or put it in a small, tight pocket. The sleek gray color and location of the buttons make it look cool, too. The design of this pedometer make it much more visually appealing than other pedometers, but...



Cons:



The fatal flaw of this pedometer is its inaccuracy. It's so sensitive that it easily records steps to your slightest movements even when you're sitting still or down. Unintentionally moving around in a pocket triggers the oversensitive sensor as well. Even the action of putting it in your pocket to start the day triggers four or five steps. I've found that this pedometer sometimes records TWICE the amount of steps as another more reliable one that I bought after this one.



Surface is a bit too weak and prone to minor scratches, fingerprints, and dents. I find that the surface of this pedometer is a bit weak. It's prone to scratching and little dents if you abuse it too much or over-clean it. This is not really a big issue, but I thought I might point it out anyway. It attracts fingerprints and if you press too hard on the wrong part of the device, you'll get one of those irreversible little dents. I did this accidentally when pressing and missing one of the buttons (oops!).



Price. Seriously, the price on this pedometer is just incredibly ridiculous. For such a poor product, the price is just crazy.



Overall, I think I made it clear that you don't want to buy this product. I'd recommend a Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer instead. It's about the same price but much more accurate.

I bought this Pedometer yesterday at Dicks sporting goods... It will be going back to the store today for a refund. Extraordinarily sensitive and inaccurate. If you wave your hand back and forth 1 inch very slowly it will count up. Sitting in a chair and shifting it will count up. This is an absolute POS and should be taken off the shelves in every store.

Somehow, the Sportline brand has gotten a position in nearly every retail outlet like target, kmart, dicks, etc. So I have had the misfortune to have tried 3 different Sportline pedometer models (none of which have lasted or worked), including this 304 hanging version. A family member thought this hanging style would be more comfortable than the belt clip style. However, hanging from a belt loop it didn't give an accurate count. Neither would it work when carried in a pocket. The final straw was when we wore it together with a new Timex W180US belt-clip style. The Sportline 304 didn't even come close to the number of steps shown by the Timex. The Timex company needs to get some shelf space for their pedometer line. Presently, the only place I can find this better pedometer is at Amazon and I have just ordered my second Timex pedometer. - Fitness - Pedometer - Health - Omron Pedometer'

Perfect little holder for bills, pencils and the whatnot that you need on a daily basis at home. We were having trouble misplacing bills as they came in (my wife would open one and put it one place, I would open another and put it somewhere else, I would clean up and move her bill, etc.) This box gives us a single place to put our monthly bills so that they don't get misplaced! Articulating Wall Mount - lcd wall mount, lcd mount

We have installed (2) of these mounts. (1) on a 26" LCD and (1) on a 32" LCD. Both installations were easy, with the product meeting expectations. The second mount we installed was missing a couple of minor parts so I sent a quick e-mail to Cheetah mounts. An hour later, I had the 2nd day air tracking number for the remaining parts. While it was frustrating to be missing the parts, I was amazed by the quick response. Cheetah Mounts ALAMLB LCD TV Wall Mount Bracket with Full Motion Swing Out Tilt and Swivel Articulating Arm

I like this mount. It is strong and holds a 30" TV no problem. The extension is very nice and the tilt helps with the glare from the dome light in the ceiling. It can turn all the way to the side and lets the TV face the kitchen counter. Our TV used the inside holes which are VESA 100 but it has wider holes as well so we could use it for a larger TV in the future. A torpedo shaped level comes with it which is now a nice addition to the tool drawer. Basically really liked it. The only issue is the TV being level. The TV tilts just slightly to the right. Enough to bother me. Only annoyance on an otherwise good product.

Update: I called Cheetah about the TV not being level. It turns out the screw behind the TV which controls the tilt Also allows the TV to twist a little. Now our TV is level!

We just mounted a 26" LCD and this mount worked perfectly. Well constructed and super easy to install. Before purchasing I called the company to verify the TV would work with this mount, I was only on hold for a few seconds before speaking with a rep who was more than helpful. I highly recommend, especially at this sale price.

I was trying to save some money on a wall mount and came across Cheatah Mounts which sells mounts that look like the ones you see at a store but waay cheaper. I was excited and ordered. Once delivered, I installed the mount (I have experience installing 3 mounts previously for various TVs). THIS IS THE WORST MOUNT I have ever installed. Installation was easy, but the metal arm sags away from the mount badly, making anything you mount on it crooked. I was really disappointed in this mount. UPDATED: - The company cantacted me by phone expressing their concern about the RMA I requested. The representative was extremely helpful and wanted me to know that it was most likely a manufactuing defect. They sent me the RMA number and shipping label and are giving me a full refund. I was very impressed with their reponsiveness and would consider purchasing from them again as I know that they seem to stand behind their products and have excellent support.

I can't imagine why anyone would rate this poorly. Those that do, are doing everyone else a disservice. I almost passed this one up because the poor reviews and low price made me apprehensive. This mount is well built, well packaged, attractive, easy to install, and how can you beat the price? I can only imagine that those who rated it poorly don't know what they're doing with tools and/or can't or won't follow instructions. For those that complained of insecure and sagging mounts, they probably know nothing about wall construction and didn't bother reading the instructions. YOU MUST INSTALL TO A WALL STUD OR MASONRY!!! For the other mounting complaints, I can only repeat, these people either failed to read the instructions or with no offense intended, are not mechanically inclined. You only have yourself to blame, not the manufacturer. If I ever need another, I will definitely buy this one again.

good price for this mount and is a decent deal. desc says "single stud mount" but mine apparently arrived only with the docs and h/w for installation in a concrete wall....nevertheless with some deck screws we solidly installed it into a stud anyway. mounted a 37" Vizio tv with no difficulty whatsoever. this is definitely strong enough for a 37 lcd w/o prob. seems to be decently made w/good enough materials for this type installation anyway. satisfied enough.

Bought the CHEETAH Articulating wall-mount arm for a 32" LCD TV. Before I mounted it to the wall, which was quite straight forward, I inspected it and checked it over. It seemed as if the arm movements were very tight and difficult, so I loosened the adjustment screws per the instructions. Part of the arm mechanism still seemed very tight and difficult. After installing the arm on the wall and attaching the TV to the arm, I still had difficulty making adjustments for the arm to move smoothly and freely. I never could could get it to the point where the arm moved smoothly. It bound up no matter how much I adjusted it, making it very difficult to move and swing the TV around. Bottom line - the articulating arm doesn't articulate very well at all. Now I have to go through the royal hassle of removing the TV from the wall mount, and removing the mount from the wall to send it back. The other problem I had was not being able to secure the mounting face plate ( the plate that attaches to the TV) adequately to the arm bracket. No matter how much I tightened the face plate bolt, it still moved, which put the TV out of level. Prius Key Fob Battery - 3v, watch batteries

I just received these batteries, they work good, and the shipping was fast, but they are old stock. The date on the back of the package says 2006 so they are 4 year old batteries and the white paper was yellowing so these are not very fresh batteries but so far they are working. Energizer Watch/Electronic Batteries, 3 Volts, 2032, 2 batteries (Lithium Button Cell)

The picture shown on the Amazon site was deceptive! The package came in two little torn out sections from a big (wholesale?) package. The package looks old and it's unknown how long the batteries will last. Even though they are cheap, they may have short lifespan, which actually will cost you more than the fresh batteries sold on the market!

This is a great deal folks, if you happen to be in a store and see these at a lower price that's great, BUT if you drove ANYWHERE to get them you just lost money. These are delivered to your door and if you have Amazon Prime (as I do for years) 2 day shipping is free. You need to think the whole thing through before you give a deal like this 1 star. I love having to go no farther than my front door to get them. Just for the record, nobody is questioning the quality of the product which is 4/5 stars easy. IMPORTANT NOTE: It seems that from time to time Amazon changes the seller for these and not all are on Amazon Prime so look closely if that is important to you. One week it is and the next week it is not. Still a great product.

I purchased these batteries for my Porsche Key Remotes, and both keys failed after 6 months, normally they work for several years. Need to replace again. Turns out, they aren't as cheap as you think, since they have such a short life.

They were shipped fast, arriving three days after I ordered them, in a standard business envelope. However, they're not as pictured - instead of the two-pack pictured, there are two batteries from one of those cellophane sheets of many batteries you'll see advertised elsewhere on Amazon. Who needs the cardboard, right? The drawback is that there's no expiration date on the cellophane, so you don't know what kind of shelf life they'll have. On the up side, these are made in Japan, unlike the Ray-O-Vacs.

Reading the reviews of the others, I was careful to avoid any of the resellers mentioned. I went with National Deals and was annoyed to find out I also received 2006 stock/package batteries. They don't have an expiration date per say, but companies update the copyright year so it's a reasonable assumption.



The blister pack was new and they work, so no complaints. There were no signs of yellowing and they come in an industrial blister pack from Japan. I like the foil packaging better than the US packaging counterparts. That being said, the voltages check out and they should work ok.



Energizer batteries are a good bang for the buck, I have a preference for Duracell since they seem to me to have better reliability and last a bit longer (that's why I docked it a star).
