you order it from Amazon.



The Amazon packaging

was so poor that when I opened the box,

I discovered DVDs everywhere inside it,

the bottom of the container had broken

open and the spindle, also broken,

was in several pieces.



Why?

Instead of packing the item securely

with enough plastic packing around

the item, Amazon used as little packing

as possible.

The result. Damaged DVDs and the spindle

broken in several pieces.



Don't let that discourage you from ordering

Before ordering this item I saw reviews stating that it had been received damaged. The same happened to my order. Evidently Amazon is unable to rectify this type of problem. I made a complaint by email and by telephone. Amazon will replace items and provide a refund. The agent I spoke to said he could pass my complaint onto the shipping department, but there is no feedback mechanism in place which, acknowledges receipt of the complaint by that department and its intent to improve packing in future. Without that I will not order this item from Amazon again.

The Maxell DVD-R discs are, for the most part, very reliable to record on. I have used this brand for years. However, the discs must be in pristine condition in order to properly record. My complaint isn't with the discs as much as it is with the packaging method that Amazon used (or didn't use) to ship them. I received two spindles of 100 that were just placed in a box and shipped. During transit, the spindle containers were demolished and all 2oo discs were jostled freely about inside the box. Many of the discs were scratched and rendered useless. All Amazon needed to do to prevent the mishap was to fill the voids in the shipping box with styrofoam peanuts or other packing material. I have read reviews from other customers who have had this same misfortune. I thought that maybe my experience would be different -- that maybe Amazon had fired the culprit(s) in their shipping department who neglected to use even the basic of packaging practices. I was wrong! They are still working there. From this experience I have learned that a penny saved is NOT necessarily a penny earned! These are the last DVD-R discs that I will buy from Amazon until they can prove that they really want my business.

My Husband uses a lot of DVD-R with his hobby. He will only use Maxell because of it's compatibility with all players. He never has any problems using it, and his projects always turn out great. He has used other brands and there always seemed to be problems. He uses maxell exclusively

I ordered these blank DVDs and do not have reservations about the quality of them. However, just as other reviewers have noted, the packaging from Amazon was inexcusable. I received the package today, and there was only one air bubble bag, which had punctured en route. The box was too big for the spindle, which arrived in pieces. I am waiting for a replacement.

I won't use anything but Maxell DVDs, and they are hard to find. But after reading reviews about the way these were shipped from Amazon and had arrived in a mess, I was a little skeptical. Even so, I have never had a problem with Amazon and decided to just go for it. I was not disappointed. The tower was so well packed that even though the box itself arrived mashed on one end and the plastic cover was cracked, the DVDs were not even affected. Again my faith in Amazon customer service has been justified.

These DVDs are of the best quality and I have used over 300 of them with only one or two that wouldn't cooperate. I tried Memorex and had several bad disks in a 30 pack. Amazon has improved it's packing and the case of disks came through unscathed. - Blank Dvd Media - Maxell - Blank Media - Media'

Ipod Accessories - earbuds, headphones

While these JBUDS did not, in a side by side comparison, provide as much surrounding, warm sound as my Sennheiser 212 headphones, they provided excellent clarity, especially on KJAZZ radio. Talk formats are also excellent. The comfort is surprisingly good for an in-ear bud. For 20 dollars, this is a great substitute for the cheaper buds that come with most MP3 players.



Update on 12-21-06: I've come to be more impressed with my JBuds over the last two weeks, marvelling at the bright, crisp, and yes, warm sound that comes out of these inexpensive buds. Perhaps, as I've read in some of the headphone information that is out there, that there is a "breaking in" period, which has something to do with loosening the tranducer. In any event, I'd have to give these JBuds another star.



Second Update 10-8-07: My only complaint about the JBuds is that sleeping with them at night I will sometimes wake up and the bud will have fallen off. I can't secure the buds to my satisfaction; however, the JBuds are so comfortable I deal with this problem.



Third Update 1-7-08: The sound is not quite as good as the slightly more expensive V-Moda; however, the JBuds are easier on my ears for long-term (I sleep with them on) listening. Also the JBuds have a longer extension and don't pull out of the radio or iPod headphone jack as easily as the V-Modas, so again on balance the JBuds are better. Awesome headphones. I love these guys and have been using them for about 6 months now. Their sound is impeccable, and are extremely comfortable, I wear them while studying I mean like 8-10 hours a day, and never really notice them. I wouldn't say that these are actually noise cancelling via electrical interference, its more via sound muffling than anything, but don't misinterpret, with the sound at a medium volume you will kill all but the loudest ambient noise. I highly recommend these. Flat out the best $20 I have EVER spent.

I bought these headphones to replace my Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontopia Headphones. I like these better for one two reasons

1) completely superficial reason - it matches my black ipod

2) completely non superficial reason - it's better for my hearing



I typcially keep the sound on my ipod locked at 75% to minimize damage to my ears. With these JBuds I don't have to take that precaution, because I never have to raise the volume up that high. And I listen to my ipod chiefly going back and forth on the subway in D.C., where it can be pretty difficult to block out the sound of the train. I'm really glad I bought them.



Two words of caution, however. First, I don't think the sound is as good as it was with the Sony headphones. I listen mostly to podcasts and audiobooks, though, so it doesn't affect me much. Also, I'm not an audiophile so my standards aren't that high. Secondly, I've gone through 3 pairs of these types of headphones due to the rubber tips falling off. While I prefer these type of headphones to other in-ear phones (I've got small ears, and other types hurt), this is getting pretty aggravating. So electronic companies? Work on that.

I played the numbers game when deciding on a pair of earbuds for listening to voice podcasts on my daily 20 minute train commute. Figured that with a 4-out-of-5-star average on 870 reviews my chances were pretty good that I'd get a great product.



Well, I've read the 1-star reviews and not all of them are by people who are sound-afficionados concerned with clarity, bass, etc. No, the majority of 1-star ratings concern a crackling and then total failure of one of the earbuds. My 1-star review falls in that category.



I'd had these earbuds exactly 3 months when the right-side earbud started to die. At first, if I wiggled the jack or held the wire a certain way, and remained perfectly still, it'd come back but only go out again. I became so focused on holding/wiggling the wire that there were times I forgot what I was trying to listen to on the podcasts.



Today was the last time I attempted the odd hold/wiggle/be still sychronization. Nothing worked. I think now it's gone for good and I'm down to one earbud, which is annoying and leaves me with mono-ear. Can't think of anything unusual I did. Just sat on the train and walked in the train station. Disappointing.

I see a lot of reviewers complaining that the buds are not "noise-cancelling", but you can't expect that from buds with no electronic noise-cancellation. I like to walk down a particularly noisy street to get to class, and the difference between these and the standard iPod buds is incredible. I can comfortably walk to classes with the volume anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 of full strength (as opposed to around 3/4 with other buds) and still hear just fine, which is definitely better for my hearing. I still want to hear busses, horns, etc for safety, so this does exactly what I need - muffles/blocks conversations and the like while still allowing me to hear necessary things.



Also, the different size fittings are a great feature. It takes a bit of experimentation to find the right size and fit, but once you do, the outside noise suppression and the sound quality are undeniably impressive.



As for that sound quality... While I don't have much to which to compare these and I'm no "audiophile", I couldn't be happier with the money I spent. I listen to a very wide variety of music (acoustic singer-songwriters, rock, rap, country, etc) and the sound is great for all of them. Good, crisp bass response in the rap and in bass drums, both acoustic and electric guitars sound clean, drums are smooth, and I'm generally hearing parts of songs I have not previously heard (echoing, multiple guitars/pitches, etc).



Bottom line? These are great buds. While I'm guessing there are better-sounding ones out there, a college student on a budget like me or anyone not looking to spend big bucks but get highly impressive sound should give these a shot. - Noise Reducing - Earbuds - Jbuds - Headphones'

Networking - cat5, computer cables

Both major ethernet suppliers in this area are loath to make home calls just for a ethernet cable. Confined to a residential care home means I have to do most of my "shopping" on the net. When this ethernet cable arrived and it was hooked up, this little Aspire One computer picked up speed about 50% right away. It costs a _lot_ less that what Comcast charged for the visit. A good cable is essential, from what I've read and this one appears to be good for years. A very good buy and well worth the few dollars it cost. The snag-proof thing isn't exactly what's pictured. Instead, it's a firm flap the same width as the prong you use to disconnect the cord over it. Not a big deal, considering it's still excellent snag-proofing, and I don't really need snag-proof. Excellent cable, as I bought it so I could match it to my red Xbox. Works wonderfully, and I haven't lost connection through it.

The price of this cable was great, but the connection is pretty horrible. If I move my laptop the slightest bit, the cable slides out. Does it work? Yes. But even a functioning cable is worthless without a decent connector. I think you could find better at the same price level.

Don't over pay for Ethernet (or HDMI). Many people do. Don't get too cheap. Many people do this too. Dollar store Ethernet Cables will not work well.



I bought two of these 15' Mediabridge cables. They are solid, good cables for an unbeatable price. I use both Ethernet and Wireless in my home. I find that no matter what router you buy, a $18 TP-Link or a far more expensive Linksys, Netgear or D-Link, wireless is security risky (unless your network is located in a rural area) & it is unreliable in urban settings. There is just too much interference. Speeds vary different times of the day and different days of the week. Disconnect will happen. With the ever growing supply of free software that simplifies cracking Network security measures, no matter what you do your network will be penetrated, people will connect and use your Internet which will slow you down. I simply do not have these problems using Ethernet. Important Internet use I do only on an Ethernet connected computer.



I use long cables. Two 15' and two 75 foot. Replacing a 75' cable in a house is work, unless you simply throw it down and make people negotiate a cord all the time. I demand quality cable for two reasons, time lost replacing them and I want the Internet speeds I pay for. Its insane to pay over $100 for a Monster Cable. Its just as unproductive to buy a $6 75' cable off eBay or from a local discount store. Mediabridge cables are quality cables for a reasonable price. Child Seats - bicycle accessories, child bike seat

This seat was a hit from the moment I took it out of the box. My 20 m.o. loved playing on it. Then, when I put it on the bicycle, she was really thrilled. It has been great fun for us both. I love having her ride up on the bike with me instead of in a trailer on the ground. No trouble with dust or mud flying at her. And she's up high and safer with me in case we come across aggressive-looking dogs, bears, etc. I was worried that the bicycle would ride awkwardly with the additional weight of the seat and child, but it rides great. I can maneuver well on narrow trails. Also, the suspension system works great when we hit the bumps. The assembly instructions were straight forward and fit my no-suspension mtn bike fine. With her bike helmet on I feel she is pretty well protected. Of course, I ride rather conservatively--all in all I think the seat is pretty safe. One safety aspect that I am very concious of is that I keep a good hold on the bike any time the child is in the seat and I'm off the bike. If I'm off the bike, then she comes out of the seat--but that gives her more opportunities to stretch her legs than if she was in a trailer. One other thing--don't wear pants with an elastic waistband or your kid may entertain herself during the ride by depantsing you! Kettler Flipper Child Bike Carrier

After coming to the realization that I would need to fabricate some parts in order to get a child seat on my 29er mountain bike (REI Novara Matador {L}) I found this and it seemed two good to be true. It had everything I was looking for; quick on and off, no rack required, safe and comfortable for the little passenger, and would not interfere with operation of the bike. I found it to be exactly as advertised, the installation was straight forward and my daughter LOVES her new seat. The construction of the seat is not as heavy duty as the Britax car seats we have but it seams well made and I don't have any reservations about putting her in it. She is almost 2 1/2 years old ~26 lbs and it seems like she has quite a bit of growing to do before she outgrows it. Removing the seat from the frame clamp is super quick and easy, under 5 seconds quick! Because the seat doesn't attach to the frame near the rear wheel like the rack based seats there is no interference with my disk brakes or rear derailleur. The only thing I don't like about it is the shoulder straps. They could use some padding and a second buckle over her breast plate, I fear the straps will to easily slip off her shoulders. I will probably rob the buckle and pads from an old car seat to solve the problem. Overall I am very happy with it and highly recommend it.

This is probably the best seat around. Well made, well designed and very easy to use.

Even though they say it is not for fully sprung (soft tail) bikes, it can be fitted on at least one. I fit it on a Cannondale Rush and it works very well. Even went on some smooth forest trails with my 11 month old daughter who loved it!!

It depends on the design of the downtube.seatpost and rear suspension. In general, if the travel is horizontal and there is room with clearance above the top travel point andconnection point of the crossmember of the frame, it will fit and work well.



Worth every penny!

As for now, my review is about my first impressions and installation. I have not used the seat yet.



I was looking for a seat for my 15 m.o. that would be safe and easy to attach and remove. I have decided on the Kettler Flipper, but from the perspective of time I think I should have considered the Topeak seat which would mount as quickly and easily to my Topeak rack. I would only have to make sure that the rack is parallel to the ground, which it is not at the moment. Well, I went with Kettler, and I am happy about my decision despite a few minor annoyances.



At first, I ordered the seat from Amazon Warehouse. I have received the "08947-580" model (the model number is printed on the cover of manual). The seat was great with a mix of black and red colors as can be seen on Kettler's web page at this time. Unfortunately, the seat was damaged when I received it, so it had to be returned. I got the model sold on Amazon, which is "08947-570". The main difference is in the color: 570 is exactly as on the picture in the product description, and it does not look as good as the 580 model. It also felt a bit lighter, but I have not confirmed my impression with actually weighing the two seats, so I could be wrong.



The seat comes with almost all tools necessary to assemble it, except for a wrench necessary to complete step 6a (you can get the manual from Kettler web page). The quality of the manual is only average, and I have hit a few snags. First, my frame tube is 35mm thick, but when I tried to use 35mm mounting brackets, the assembly was too loose. I had to use the 32mm brackets for a good fit. The manual consists mostly of images without much explanation. The images for step 6a, for example, are a bit confusing as they show two different orientations for the top M8 nut, which I installed with the elongated part up as shown in the main image. The complete assembly took about 45min to an hour (I don't know exactly since my son would not let me complete it in one go). I ended up installing the sit in the front-most position, but it was still further than 10cm behind the axle of my rear wheel, which is the maximum recommended by the manual. I guess that the geometry of my bike is a bit different than the usual assumed by Kettler. If it was not for my rack, I could have mounted the bracket lower down, which would move the whole seat to the front due to the angle of the tube, and that would possibly bring the seat into a correct position. Well, I will just use it as it is and hope for the best. :)



When I rode my bike without seat attached, the mounting bracket was rubbing on my knees from time to time. This is something to be aware of if you ride a somewhat sporty bike.



In conclusion, I would recommend this seat and it meets my expectations. It is on the heavy side, but no matter what seat you get, it will not weigh nothing. The Kettler seat adds the suspension frame, which is somewhat heavy. The Topeak seat, for example, weighs 6.9 lbs without a rack, and the Flipper seat weighs 14 lbs. One should be aware of the difference when choosing.



Update:



I have now used the seat on a few trips. It works as expected. The only thing I had to do is to move the seat backward by one notch on the rack (the seat has grooves that match the rack). I have tried to maintain the "no more than 10cm behind the rear axle" rule given by the manual, but my son was too close to me. I thought that the rule was important for some structural reasons, but I have realized that it is probably to prevent from the bike flipping back when the rider is off and the baby is on. Indeed, the front wheel goes up easily when my son is in the seat, but it is not to a point where it should be a problem. When I am on the bike, there is no problem at all. And, with the seat moved back, the attachment rack gives a bit more amortization. We have been biking on some bumpy gravel road, and my son seemed pretty comfortable in the back. Also, I really like the small bags attached to the seat. I cannot use my rack when the seat is on, but I can pack a few small things into the bags.



I also bumped my rating from 4 to 5 stars. After I forgot about the few installation pains I had, I really love that seat. :) - Bicycle Accessories - Child Bike Seat - Baby Bike Seat - Bike Seat'

Bought these because of the lifetime warranty. Usually you have to pay quite a bit extra for screen protectors to have that. These worked perfectly! Installation was a tad outta control with using soap water and positioning the protector. But once you get it in place, it took less than a day for all the bubbles to disappear and now you can barely tell I have a screen protector on my DInc2. Excellent screen cover for phone. Easy to install just don't get too crazy with the soapy water. Waterproof Mp3 Player

As someone who swam competitively for about 10-13 years growing up, then a ~8-10 year break and is swimming again to keep in shape, here are my thoughts after my first use of this waterproof MP3 player. Note, I swim with goggles and no cap.



* Overall, I was impressed with how well the MP3 player worked under water. I was listening to an audiobook, and had no problem at all hearing or understanding the narrator. Considering that this option is easily 1/3 the price of anything else I could find that sounded like it might be 'better', it seems like a great value. The one feature I've seen on other options that seems like it could solve some of the problems this has are the bone-sound transmission options. I've never tried something like that, but it sounds rather uncomfortable (and, again, is at least 3x the cost). A text display to show what MP3 is playing would be a great improvement, but it's still useable without that.



* When doing real training with a swim team, I never really got bored as the workouts were intense enough to require my full attention, and there was a sense of camaraderie swimming with your teammates. However, I previously always got very bored swimming by myself, so it had been difficult to stay motivated and to get to the pool or stay in the water as long as I'd like. Having something to listen to this morning fixed that completely, and without really noticing it, I ended up swimming longer than I have been lately.



* Selecting the right ear plug and keeping ALL water out of the earplugs is critical to being able to hear underwater. The clear 'stepped' earplug seemed like it would be the best for keeping water out, but I found it difficult to get in correctly and slightly painful if fully inserted, but did a pretty decent job of forming a tight seal. It comes with 7 different earplug options; I'll be trying one of the others next time.



* The over-the-ear hooks didn't stay in place very well, and I often realized halfway down the pool that they were dangling off. Surprisingly, the earplugs generally still managed to stay in place and with a good seal in my ear, not letting any water in. This would almost certainly be a non-issue swimming with a cap, but I get too hot swimming with a cap on.



* When trying to do a bit of sprint / interval training without a cap on, I had a lot of trouble the hooks falling out. Similarly, any breaststroke or butterfly made that problem worse as well -- the rhythmic surge of the water, rather than the more constant flow with freestyle/backstroke, pulled them out more often.



* The cord from the MP3 player to your ears is very short. It's short enough that you have to first attach the mp3 player to your goggles, then put on your goggles, then insert the earbuds. This is good so you don't have a long trailing cord, but can be inconvenient if you want to check the LED or look at the device while pressing buttons. I'd recommend memorizing where all the buttons are so you can press them with your goggles still on your head. If you take off your earbuds mid-swim (which you would have to do in order to look at the buttons), it's difficult to get a good seal again in your ears since your fingers and your ear canal will be wet, but it IS possible. If the sound suddenly cuts out or gets muffled in one ear, it's because water got in.



* Swimming outdoors, the LED indicator on the power light (which tells you if you're in random or linear play; short-press the button to toggle between) is WAY too dim to see.



* My goggles have a split strap. I initially had the device hooked to the top strap in the middle of the back of my head, and often found it flipping down/rolling over during push-off from the walls. Unfortunately, it rolled over, hitting the power/play mode button in the process, and switched my audiobook to random play the first time this happened. After that, I positioned it an inch or two behind my ear and didn't have this problem any more. Next time, I think I'll also try it on the bottom strap.



* You likely won't be able to replace the waterproof earbuds with something from another manufacturer due to the threaded plug (which is needed to keep water out). According to another reviewer, you CAN order replacements from the makers of this device.



* One other note from a functional standpoint: the USB connector that comes with the device plugs into the headphone jack (to minimize external paths into the internal circuitry). You need to screw it in (just like with the earbuds) before your computer will recognize the device. Thankfully, it shows up to your computer just like a USB flash drive; no silly proprietary interface. Diver (TM) Waterproof MP3 Player. 4 GB. Kit Includes Waterproof Earphones. (Black)

I just got this yesterday and haven't used it in water yet, so I may come back and amend this review after my swim tomorrow.



I really like this MP3 player so far. The first thing I noticed is that while they are advertising this as a 2GB MP3 player, it actually has nearly 4 GB (3.9). If you go to their website (DiverMP3 dot com) it appears that is the only size they actually carry, so you are getting even more than you pay for and this is already a GREAT price for a waterproof player.



The player comes with 2 sets of headphones, one regular and one waterproof pair. You MUST use the waterproof pair when using the player where it is in danger of getting wet. Though other reviews say that they waterproof pair has terrible sound, I don't agree. I am very sensitive to bad quality recordings/sound, so I really think they are fine. I don't listen to anything with a really booming bass so maybe it doesn't support heavy bass as well as some people like (those who prefer to "feel" the bass in the song), but there aren't a lot of headphones that support that and having something sealed into your ear and booming bass into your head like that would be terrible for your hearing, anyways.



Loading songs on it is super easier.. just open one window with the MP3 player's contents and another with all the songs on your computer and drag and drop. No software needed. It support MP3 and WMA files only.



The instructions are lacking somewhat in my opinion. It comes with an armband (for land use only, not in the water), but it isn't even mentioned in the instructions and it took me a little while to figure out how to use it. Also it is my understanding that it has both a continuous linear play function (plays in the order they are on the player) or a shuffle option, but I can't figure out how to turn it off of shuffle. It keeps playing the same dozen or so songs when I have about 40 loaded on at this point. Sometimes it will play one song, then another, and the next song is the one played the first time, which is really frustrating. I'm sure if I could figure out how to get it off shuffle it would fine. If anyone figure it out, let me know..



ETA: I figured out how to switch from shuffle to linear play (or I should say my husband did). The power button on the side is both the on/off AND the mode switch. To change modes, you just press and release once. A blue light means shuffle and a red light means linear play. To turn off, you hold the button down until the light disappears. Also, I went swimming today and used it for an hour and a half with no real problems. I had to release the water out of one side several times because it was muffling the sound on that side, but I attribute that to not finding the right size cover for that side.. my ears need different bud sizes for headphones and I got the right size for my left ear but not my right. About halfway through my swim I stopped having any issues with water getting into the earbuds, though. I'm going to try going up one size on the bud on that side next time. Other than that, no issues whatsoever. What a great product!'

I used to own this piece and lost it. I actually wore it as an undershirt. I am happy to find it on amazon again. Not only did I find it here on amazon through this seller, I found it here for half the price! When I owned this piece the first time it lasted. It lasted so well that a year later it was as if it was brand new. As for the bra cup size comment-she is correct. This piece does run small so I do suggest ordering up a size or maybe even two dependent on how loose you want it. It is a very tight piece of clothing. Any who it is very sexy.

I really liked it and have already worn it. (My husband like it too!) Some of the reviews mentioned that the bust area was too small, but if you have a smaller chest it works perfect. My only problem is where the straps are sewn into the body; it is very scratchy and left red marks in those two spots on my back. The material is rough at the end of the strap and I may try to cut it or place something over the rough spots. Other than that the quality of material seems nice and should last. This is a kind of teddy I would sleep in afterward, if I fix the straps!
