After extensive research on AVSForum, HiDefJunkies, and Flat Panel Reviews, I decided that I wanted the fantastic 2d picture quality, amazing black levels, and 3d without crosstalk for the future and this 55inch set was my choice since it was just a few hundred dollars more than the 50 inch. It arrived today and I could tell the shipping company Amazon used treated the box/set very well (no marks, dents, holes) and by myself I assembled the base and put the TV on it (I suggest you use 2 people for safety). I have a Pioneer Elite 36TX receiver and it doesn't have HDMI switching, so I thought that I was going to have to replace it. My sources are DirecTv (HR-20), Boxee, and LG BluRay. What I wasn't counting on, but LOVE (and it's saving me a lot of money) is that the Panasonic GT30 has an ARC (Audio Return Channel)via optical Toslink. That lets me connect HDMI from all my sources to the TV and have the audio output to the reciever for surround processing - AWESOME!



With only one day of watching, I think the picture quality is "all that". I previously had a Sony Grand Wega III Rear projection LCD HDTV, and it's hardly comparable because the display technology has progressed so far. Even major broadcasters like CBS/ABC/NBC in HD look suprisingly better.



It also comes with Wifi in the box which you connect via one of the two or three USB ports on the TV. That setup was painless. I don't really intend on using those features (like Netflix), so I can't speak to that. I *WILL* be using DLNA, and since both my Synology NAS and my Samsung phone support DLNA, I will see how well that works in the near future.



Setup was very easy. I'm a tech-guy and my wife could have done this. Date/Time/What source is on each HDMI port and walla.



What don't I like? The HDMI ports are horizontal on the side of the set and your HDMI cables will protrude from the back of the set.

This review is only for the 2D picture quality only. I do not have the 3D glasses and I am not sure I will get them, 3d doesn't interest me that much. I primarily bought it because it was plasma and not LCD. I have had CRT projection, DLP projection and LCD. The LCD was a Samsung and a great TV but I did not like the soap opera visual effect it had on some content. The picture was clear but looked artificial. I believe I have read some other reviews on Amazon stating the same observations.



I purchased this TV based on online research and the positive reviews by professional review sites and user feedback. The off angle viewing, no lag or artifacts when viewing fast action content were the two most important aspects to me, researching all the different display types will find, plasma is the king of the hill on both counts. I would not hesitate to recommend this TV to anyone. If you do the research you will find it is the top of the game and amazon had a really good price coupled with the 2 year interest free amazon sore card purchase it was a no brainer. The form factor although not as slim as the slimmest LCD's is still under 2 inches and looks great hanging on the wall.

As many others, I've done my research before buying this TV. I've only had the GT30 for 4 days and am currently very happy with it.

- The 2D picture is beautiful. I have another 2 year old Samsung 1080P LCD and I can see a clear picture improvement with this Panasonic GT30. I was a little worried about the fluctuating brightness problems that people have been seeing. I am happy to report that I do not see ANY fluctuating brightness issues in any of the modes (thx, game, custom, etc...)

Out of the box the THX mode seemed to be the best, but I found some tunings that CNET posted for this TV and used those. CNET actually posted picture tunings for THX and Custom modes and mentioned that they believe their THX settings were better. My wife and I prefer like their Custom settings more than their THX settings. More realistic...

- I can also make a couple of comments on 3D. I've ordered a 3D blue ray player with a few movies, but have not received them yet. I do have ESPN 3D though and was able to check it out. I purchased the x103 3d glasses and used those. The 3d effect greatly depends on the content that you are watching on TV when its broadcast. College football was OK, Extreme winter games were good and Boxing looked great with 3D. I did not see any cross talk and the HD clarity was very good. Just make sure that you don't have a lot of extra outside light in the room or the glasses will appear to flicker a little. In a medium to dim environment, there were 0 issues. I can't wait for the 3D blue ray player to see what movies will look like on this TV.

Overall I am very happy with this TV.

I could not be more impressed with this TV. The picture is incredible, the set-up was very easy, it has tons of features, it is by far the best TV I have ever owned.



I mounted it to the wall using a VideoSecu Articulating TV mount which holds it securely to the wall. I did not feel comfortable having this TV rest on the stand it comes with because I have 4 boys, and the living room sometimes transforms into a wrestling arena. I would hate to have to put one or more of the boys up for adoption because they knocked over the TV. So mounting it to a wall helps ensure they will have a place to live for a few more years...



The TV comes with a wireless LAN adapter that plugs into one of the TV's USB ports. That saves the hassle of running a network cable to that room. So far I am very happy with the connectivity and have used it to watch instant movies from Netflix, shows from Amazon on-demand, and we also use it to check our weather reports. The TV has many other features that are Internet based like Facebook, but we have not tried that because we do not have a wireless keyboard, and because we have a PC in the same room, so we will probably never use that feature.



The only downside I have noticed so far is the sound quality. We have the TV in a pretty large, open room. When things are quiet the sound quality is great, but things get noisy around here sometimes and I am also a little hard of hearing (or so my wife says) so I need to crank up the volume on the loud side. I may have to hook this up to a home theater system, which is probably a good idea anyway. In a normal house the sound quality will probably be more than adequate.



Once again I will get back to the picture quality. It is very impressive, especially in HD. I have satellite TV and had to upgrade the receiver to an HD receiver. Watching the shows in HD is incredible. I cannot speak highly enough about the excellent picture quality. I am very happy with this purchase.



I did quite a bit of research on TVs before buying this one. This TV was very highly rated and I am happy and convinced that I made the right choice.



**While this is a 3D TV, I have not purchased 3D glasses so I cannot review that feature. Since 3D gives me a headache, I will probably never get a set of 3D glasses. Actually I should clarify the previous sentence, 3D on TV gives me a headache. Dashboard Mount - garmin, garmin nuvi

My Prius has a rough dashboard and a windshield that slopes very sharply. Thus, the suction cup mounts are not good solutions. Fortunately, the friction mount is a great solution. It works much better than I expected. Very stable, does not slide, and lets me adjust my Nuvi to a variety of different angles. I can place the GPS anywhere on the dash or even on the center console. Also works great when transferred to my wife's Ford.



Only downside to the device is that it has a rather large footprint, but not prohibitively large. I like the fact that I can easily use this in both of our family vehicles depending on where we need the GPS.



UPDATE: Now that I have used this mount regularly since May, I have to say this is the best mounting solution I've found for a GPS or any other device for my car. It hasn't slid out of place once!! Given the rise in GPS units being stolen from cars, this mount allows you to easily stash your GPS Unit and mount out of sight and then put it back into position with ease.



2009 Update: Still using this in my Prius and my wife has one too. It's held up quite well. It IS a bit bulky to store out of the way when not in use, but still a good solution. I usually remove my GPS from the mount (a simple process) and then place the mount as far under the seat as it will go. Not perfect, but the best solution I've found to date. This mount works great. The selection of Garmin mounts is confusing as some are two parts and some are one. If you have a Nuvi with the included windshield mount, then this is the only part you need to buy. The included mount disassembles at the ball and socket joint and attaches to this one. I can't say it will never come off the dash if I do some really high speed maneuver, but so far it's held steady for all regular driving.



I like that it's easy to move the mount and gps unit down to the floor when I park. Yeah a thief could still see it if they came right up to my car but at least it's not obvious from halfway across the parking lot like a windshield mount is. A thief that sees an empty windshield mount is probably going to assume (correctly) that I've just put the unit in the glove compartment.

I have become addicted to my Garmin Nuvi 660 and used it for six months with a successful windshield mount. But now I have bought a new car. I discovered that the windshield suction mount left an ugly black ring on the window of my old car. (I assume I can get this cleaned up when I detail the car for selling.)



So no way was I going to put one of those on my beautiful new car. I tried the Garmin dashboard mount but shied away from the "permanent" disc. I found the "temporary" disc was just not up to the job of holding this device in place -- at least on my vehicle. I found this very frustrating. I read about the Portable Friction Mount, found a Best Buy store that had it in stock and ran out to buy it.



Though it is not terribly good looking, it does the job very well. I tried whipping around a few tight turns in parking lots and the whole thing stayed put. As another reviewer said, this lets you easily remove the thing and put it on the floor so it's not obvious. That may be more valuable than you would think. I know somebody who removed his Garmin Nuvi (and took it with him) but left the window mount in place. The car was broken into and the window mount alone was stolen. (Probably that was a pretty frustrated thief.)



Also, this will be easy to transfer to a rental car. And it will make it easy for my wife to borrow my Nuvi. Hmmm!

While the friction mount on the bottom of the beanbag is pretty darn stable even with stops, starts, and turns I sometimes would find it sliding across the dash. The solution has been to use one of those little 6x4 inch mats sold at Radio Shack or Walmart for keeping cellphones on the dash. The mat is sticky on one side but leaves no marks or glue. I have not had one slide since using the mat. I even bring the mat with me in rental cars. This gives a very secure mount that is very easy to take from car to car.

The first time I tried this mount was in a rental car for a Garmin C530, and I never thought it would stay on the slightly sloping dash of the Pontiac Grand Prix but it held firm going up and down San Francisco's hilly roads. That prompted me to buy one for my car. Essentially this mount is a bean bag with a mouse pad like rubber base but its engineered to stay where you put it and not slide around unless you move it. The good thing is that it stays put even if you brake suddenly, and if you drive in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic like me every day you'll appreciate this even more!



The advantages are:

- No sticking on windshield. This is a BIG advantage as the windshield mount starts to come off easily after a year of usage, less if you leave it in your car while it's parked in the sun. There is nothing worse than your GPS sliding off while you're driving round a tricky bend, especially if you are new to the area. Sometimes it can be downright dangerous.

- The windshield mount also alerts thieves that a GPS is in the car. A friction mount can be placed down under the car seat when you leave the car without needing to disconnect anything so that you're ready to go quickly when you come back to the car.

- The other big advantage is the ability to move it around to the position you want it. If a passenger is sitting in your car you can just slide it to their side and they can input the information while you are driving. It also makes it easy to slide it closer to yourself. Since I have the Nuvi 660 I often make calls with the bluetooth feature while driving, it is easy to slide it towards me when I am speaking to someone in order to get better voice reception.



This mount works for all Nuvis as they have the "snap the ball in the joint". If you buy any model of Nuvi then this is all you need, no other adapter parts are needed. It's also easy to switch this mount between cars or move it to a rental car when you travel. Good: helical cutting head at this price point! 13" width capacity, 6" height capacity down to 1/8" inch, quick setup for repeat thickness runs, surprisingly quiet during full load, excellent chip extraction, essentially ready to use out of the box with little if any adjustment needed to parallel the support tables (they fold upwards when not in use resulting in very small foot print when unit is stored away), support tables are long, leaves a good finish, 5 year warranty.



Bad: single feed speed is too fast for some hard woods resulting in some minor tear-out; rotating the board for another pass helps but a slower feed speed would get rid of this problem entirely.



Overall: 13" helical cutter in a solidly built machine at an excellent price; looking forward to many years of service. Steel City Tool Works 40200H 13-Inch Planer with Spiral Cutterhead

I have had this planer for a few months and put a lot of hickory, hard maple, soft maple, and red oak through it. This is and upgrade for an older Dewalt 2 blade cutter head. I upgraded because I was tired of having to get blades sharpened frequently and tired of dealing with tearout from the coarser grain woods.



The planer came shipped in the in is own box with no problems. Once out of the box you will need to clean off some grease from table of the planer, but nothing to major. After the you attach the 4" dust collector port you are ready to go.

I did have to adjust the level of the infeed and outfeed table to eliminate snipe, but still have some on the first and last couple inches of the board. I know some people find snipe to be a big deal, I plan for it and just cut off the ends.



The first thing you notice when you first start using it is how quiet it is. This does not matter to me so much because I have a loud dust collector and I always use hearing protection. But it is significantly quieter then straight blade planers. The part that I am disappointed with is you still get a fair amount scallops and tearout from the coarser grain woods. I was under the impression that the spiral head was supposed to significantly decrease tearout or eliminate it. But I have not noticed a difference for from my older dewalt planer. I have tried taking lighter passes of 1/32 of and inch and changing the directional feed of the board but with no success. Maybe I had too high of expectations for this planer. It does have plenty of power to push through and species of wood at its 13" capacity. Dust collection catches about 95% of the chips, so nothing to complain about. We will just have to see how long the knives stay sharp for and how it is to change them. Will keep you posted.



I give it the three stars because I expected better result regarding tearout.

First, I don't know about the durability/longevity of this product, but I will say that I think in the long run this will be a machine that lasts for me. As many have pointed out, this is basically a Ridgid 13" planer with a spiral cutting head. However, the sides are all steel and overall the materials seem to be of a higher specification/quality than the Ridgid models. I carefully researched this machine and read lots of reviews before I finally bit the bullet and bought this unit. I'd considered the Delta and Dewalt portable models in the same price range ($600). The recent price drop on this Steel City unit really helped me make the final decision as well as the spiral cutting head. Many have commented about the "grease" around the cutter head and on one woodworking forum someone carped on endlessly about using Q-tips to clean the cutter head. I thought that seemed a little strange, so I was prepared to look for myself once the unit arrived. I removed the protective shroud around the cutter head and yes, there is a significant amount of grease on the head. In my opinion this is Cosmoline or some other rust inhibitor. Douse the head with some brake cleaner or do what I did: grab some soft lumber (like pine) and run it through until you collect a Shop Vac or two full of shavings. This coating really isn't as bad as some of the reviews. If you consider all of the bare steel and surface area that is exposed on this spiral cutter head, the rust inhibitor is necessary. The environment inside a shipping container from China to the U.S. is a corrosive one for machinery. I'm glad that Steel City's overseas supplier is taking this precaution. Put the Q-tips down and use some common sense, man.



Regarding the performance of this machine: I could not be happier! Adjusting the in-feed/out-feed tables did take some time and the bolts for this are inset too close to the base of the unit in my opinion. You'll need some good dexterity to get them just right. There is only one feed speed. I don't think 2 feed speeds would be useful for me, but maybe others work a whole lot faster on a planer than I do or have help on the out feed. I planed about 20 bf of 8-inch wide black walnut the other night from about 4/4 down to 1/2" thickness taking nice 1/32" swipes. This sucker could easily swipe up 1/16" on a pass, but I was so pleased with the surface at 1/32" that I just beamed from ear-to-ear and kept putting the stock back through to get to my final thickness. Did someone say I need a re-saw setup on a dedicated band saw? Ah yes---that would be nice. Had fun planing, but it is sad to see half of a board wasted.



Many of us really want a 15-20" floor-model planer with its own dedicated space in the "shop" and a 220V power supply. A lot of woodworking snobs will tell you not to even bother with these suitcase (portable) models. Let's get real. Most of us do woodworking in our garage and space IS an issue. How will this hold up under professional use? I have no idea, but then again I'm not going to abuse my tools like "employees" will. I built houses for a number of years and I can tell you even the best tool will fail when it is abused---apropos with ANY tool review you read and always worth considering. Overall I'm confident in giving this machine a 5/5 rating. - Planer'

I needed a replacement USB cable for my Kodak Easyshare camera and needed it quick in order to complete a slideshow for my students. Amazon offered the cheapest and fastest replacement. I had the cable the next day! Excellent product desription, service and delivery is what you get through Amazon.

I have tried to purchase this Kodak camera cord. Kodak gave me the exact part and ID number. First I went to [...] and they sold the contract to We Sell Bargains and they sent out the wrong product; the part did NOT fit into my camera. So after 20 emails to both [...] (who basically blew me off after getting the RMA and mailing instructions for me) and We Sell Bargains; After 8 more emails, We Sell Bargains continued to say that they never received my package and unless I insured the package, they wont do anything. So I finally went back to my credit card company to dispute the charge, showing them all of the correspondence because time was running out.



I then ordered from Amazon, thinking I would actually be getting the product from Amazon; Amazon sold the contract to Cables4U and low and behold, Cables4U sold the contract to... We Sell Bargains and AGAIN they sent out the wrong cord. I tried to contact Cables4U and they said the same thing as last time, send it back. Blah Blah Blah; and rather then spend another $20 for a $6 cord, I bought a new camera, because this whole trasaction, with postage and two credit card charges, and not to mention time and close to 25 emails... it has cost me $40 for a $6 cord.



If these companies choose to sell the contract (no I didnt sign up for We Sell Bargain, I signed up to Amazon, then I guess the only way for them to figure out that the Customer Service for We Sell Bargains isnt very good, and a bit dishonest (they didnt lose a penny on the return and got the cord back new! and probably resold my cord back becuase it wasnt "insured") So maybe Cables4U and Amazon will learn and drop using We Sell Bargains as a vendor.

I bought this product because, while on vacation I forgot to pack the Kodak cord to recharge my M853 camera. I wasn't sure it would work,since I wasn't buying directly from Kodak, but I found for a cheap price and thought it was worth the risk. It wasn't. I complained to the seller, who claimed the product description did not state which cameras it would work with. But I am certain I read that it would--maybe from another reviewer. So my advice is BE CAREFUL. Verify compatibility with the seller before you buy this, or bite the bullet and pay the extra cash to buy directly from Kodak. I will say that the next camera I purchase will not be a Kodak, because of this issue. They make it too hard to use their products.

This cable worked perfectly with our Kodak camera. We lost our original cable, and were hesitant to buy a new one via the internet. But the company handled our order promptly and we were pleased that it was indeed the correct cable.

I was amazed as to the results of the delivery of my cable that I received from the company. I ordered it one day and two days later it was delivered @ my home. I expected @ least a 7 day delivery. Most of all it came with a return envelope and label if needed, which most companies don't offer and it was a "Very Low Cost Item" considering all the surfing I did before purchasing from this company.

I will order more items when needed from them!

I can only speak on behalf of myself, who is a completely clueless when it comes to decorating a home! I have always lived with others in apartments or school dorms, so I never had a say on home decor. Now, in the process of buying my first home, I am completely lost as to how to decorate it and what to buy! I love entertaining and I love having visitors over. I love color and I love beautiful furniture... if it wasnt for this book, I'm sure I would have gotten tons of different focal points and tons of splashes of color (I was color deprived when I was young!). This book helps you organize your thoughts mentally, and helps when you are starting off with a clean canvas. I say it's helpful for the clueless because it is of tremendous help to me (very clueless!). I'm not sure how helpful it will be if you already have ideas about home decorating! It's also pretty modern (I'm 24) if that is the direction you are looking towards.



The last section is also really cool! It has a floor grid and cut-out furniture pieces and a checklist that I can't wait to play around with! The Nest Home Design Handbook: Simple ways to decorate, organize, and personalize your place

I purchased this book because I wanted some unique ideas in an easy to read format and sure enough, this is what I was given!!! I love it!!! It is FULL of pictures which makes it easy for my husband to flip through and say like it/hate it....and that brings a huge grin to my face ;-) Oh, we relocate every three to four years (nope, not a military family) and we ALWAYS have new places and spaces. This gives great advice on using what you have and really adding speacial pieces.

This book is perfect for the beginning home owner or renter who doesn't know where to begin in making decisions about how to decorate their home. The book has material you can't find elsewhere on layout, types of sofas, chairs, beds, rooms etc. The rooms are contemporary, up-to-date and fresh.



The book has useful charts and questionnaires which will help the reader in decision-making and it's very clear and easy to read. It's a wonderful springboard to begin to articulate your personal style. I teach a class on interior design through continuing education and find the book very useful for students as an introduction to a complex subject like interior design.

We're purchasing our first home and I felt overwhelmed at the prospect of designing every room from scratch but this wonderful book inspired me to embrace the entire project, including painting walls. It's elementary, the Nest Home appears to be geared toward newly marrieds, but for those like me who need a refresher on the basics, this works!

I really enjoyed looking through this book. I haven't read the whole thing though but what I have read is great! It gives great tips, pictures, a nice reference in back of the book, and some color schemes. This is a great book for just getting started with decorating, or if you would like some fresh ideas.

This book has helped me so much. I made use of the lists they provide for you in the back and when I went shopping for a room in my house, I had my list ready to go and picked everything out. It was so helpful. I love all the ideas and WOW, it is SO easy to read and easy to follow. This book has great tips along the sides of the pages and explains everything so easily, and it's easy on your eyes. The font and the way they designed the book layout is great, like I said, easy to read and understand. Very modern ideas that I love. Plus it's a pretty book to put on display. I can't say enought about this, I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy read for fresh and modern approaches to interior design.

I am totally into home design and watch as many shows as possible on HGTV. I also love [..]. This book proves to be the perfect combination of the two. The pages are well designed and easy to follow. The tips are great and I think anyone who is into home design will like this book.

I bought this book a few days ago, and I have hardly been able to put it down since. I'm fairly new to decorating; I'm a beginning grad student renting a small single-family home. This book is by no means a complete reference guide to home decorating, but it has plenty of inspiring design ideas (LOTS of full-page photos) and basic information (e.g., types of carpet/furniture/lighting, how to arrange furniture and decorations, etc). These ideas can be incorporated into just about any design plan and any budget. However, it really is more of an idea/inspiration book and NOT a step-by-step guide to anything.



The book is organized into four main functional areas of the home ("live" = living room, "eat" = kitchen, "sleep" = bedroom, "stash" = closet/office organization), and it has a short planning and reference section at the end. This book is ideal for young decorators, and I believe it's actually intended for young newlyweds in particular (hence "The Nest" affiliation). Most of the designs feature contemporary style (think ikea), so keep that in mind.



Overall, a great book to get you started. I recommend it to all the twenty- and thirty-somethings out there looking to establish a sense of contemporary style in their homes.

As someone who knows very little about decorating and style, I found this book to be very inspirational and helpful. I consider it a must have. It covers furniture and art arranging, how to set a table, items to keep in a bar, explores color and creative storage ideas, just to name a few.
