Trolling Motors - intex, trolling motor

One thing I like about this mount, you don't need any tools to put it on the boat. It uses bolts with sturdy thumb type screws and your done. Also, can't go wrong with good solid marine plywood. In the end, its a motor mount and it does what it is designed to do for the intex boats. Holds that little Minn Kota Endura 30 really good. The mount can accept a 3.5hp but on the Excursion boats you can only put up to a 1.5hp or up to 18 lbs motor weight. If you want to go to a 3.5 you will need to get a Sea Hawk II or Mariner boat. This mount seems to work fine with my Intex Mariner 4 and Suzuki DF2.5 outboard, but when I throttle up to high, the thrust causes the two vertical pipes, attaching from below the lower boat mounts, to press into the boat and tip the motor back. I discovered that if you put a rigid plywood or plastic plate (4"x19") between the back of the boat and these pipes, the motor has to push the whole plate into the back of the boat and this makes the mount much more rigid. The price is so good ($28 as apposed to $75 for Sevylor's equivalent) that I decided to rate it 4 stars. With the above improvement, this mount should work fine.

Intex should raise the price of all of their boats $20 and make this a standard item. Getting an intex boat without this is silly. You have to have a trolling motor to fully enjoy the boat. See my boat review for more.

seems many people prefer to build their own motor mount.. for the price why bother? this thing is perfectly durable and there is NO hassle whatsoever. IMO you should just add this on with your order, the hassle of designing one of your own is over $30 value to me.

Simple, well thought-out and well-made. It's easy enough to say one could build something like it at home but, with all the time and materials taken into consideration, the real McCoy would still have been comparable--if not superior--to a homemade version.

I saw that some people build their mounts and I was going to do the same until realizing that as cheap as this mount is even after shiping, your only saving a couple bucks. Installation is simple and it looks good when mounted. No problems on the water either. - Motor Mount - Intex - Inflatable Boat - Trolling Motor'
