The product and support is good, just expensive. Sage Peachtree pushes for upgrade every year, but actually you only need to upgrade every three years; they just don't tell you. I know because I've been using Peachtree for the last 16 years. If you want good support you need to purchase support every year which can be less expensive than upgrade. If you use the payroll you will need to purchase tax services as well. Support is apox $289 for single users & tax service aprox $269. So instead of upgrading just purchase support and tax service and you save program upgrade money. Sage Peachtree Complete Accounting 2012
I like Peachtree and it's an excellent accounting software. Maybe not as simple as Quickbooks, but I think it's more robust. Since it's not the standard anymore it doesn't interact with as many 3rd party products or credit card processing as Quickbooks. I just got my upgrade notice to go from 2010 to 2012 for the "discounted price" price of $224 from Sage, but as you can see you can buy it from Amazon for $149.
This review is coming from someone who was trying to buy this product. I make purchases for a company that needs a software solution for their accounting. I would think that even if the customer service for a company is horribly terrible, at least they'll have it together in sales. But not for sage! I spoke to someone one of their product specialists, who advised me to talk to their business care/sales to recommend another sage product because the complete accounting does not compute in international currency. I called that number, was on hold for who know what, 3 hours, then left a message. This was last week Thursday. I get a voicemail from a rep yesterday with her number and an alternate number. I called her number, it went to voicemail. I called the alternate number to get a rep that doesn't even know their products. And in the process of trying to walk me through their website, I get frustrated because He doesn't understand what I need nor know the products they have and goes on to recommend a $25,000 software alternative to someone who was interested in purchasing a $500 package!!! In the midst of asking to speak to someone else, the dude hangs up!!!
I called back to speak to someone else, who was sympathetic to my ordeal, but she still recommends the $25000 software alternative, while giving me the phone number to their international sales rep. I make international calls daily, she gives me a phone number with numbers before 011...I go on to tell her to please verify the number she's giving because it's not right, you always dial 011 before any number! But nope, she insists she has given that same number to others...Just in case international dialing protocols had changed overnight, I dialed the number and it was invalid.
After that, I called it quits! This was pure, undiluted craziness! And I am done! My client suggested this software, but nope, we are not going this route...
Terrible customer support. Charge for everything. Software put out of date almost immediately, then no costumer support, you have to buy new version. Who cares how it operates if you can't use it without buying a new version every year.
If you buy this product, keep your fingers crossed that it works (personally, mine did not). Because if it doesn't, you will have an extremely frustrating time trying to get help from their support lines. You will literally NEVER be on hold for less than hour, and they are not available on weekends. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Buyer Beware!
I assist my clients in acquiring and installing Peachtree software and have purchased from Amazon.com on more than one occasion and I always receive exactly what I ordered and it always comes by the estimated delivery date and often before.
Ordering is always very easy.Peachtree software provides high end functionality in a low end software at a very fair price. I personally pretty much only install the Complete version as it provides the most features and the best value for the price. If you are looking to do payroll than a separate payroll tax service is necessary each year (same as Quickbooks) and there are ways to acquire the payroll tax service at a price that is less than what Sage markets it for.The software does have to be upgraded at least every three years in order to receive program updates and utilize the payroll tax service as well as support. (same as Quickbooks)With proper installation, setup and training, Peachtree is a very easy product to use and can be easily customized to fit a wide variety of businesses.When considering a software product the number one consideration should be the reporting capabilities and Peachtree by far provides far superior reporting functionality and customization when compared to it's nearest competitor.'
