Clean Music - various artists, mp3

I'm not a major audiophile, but I have to say, it's becoming more and more obvious that many of the tracks on recent volumes of NOW are merely sourced from MP3s. This is possibly the worst offending volume yet. Some songs are too shrill with no low end, others are all bass with no high end. Some songs even have a sudden dramatic shift from clarity to muffle (I noticed it particularly on the Britney Spears track). It's such a shame that this generation and going forward will never know what truly dynamic stereo music sounds like thanks to our digital age, where even those who are still dedicated to buying tangible product are being duped with MP3 quality music.

As for the track list, this one is loaded with songs that are actually still in heavy rotation on the radio, and plenty of top 10 hits. And what's most amazing, and kind of annoying, is that for the first time ever, NOW actually DID preview a future hit with the bonus tracks on their last volume--they've even REPEATED it on here. Yep Hot Chella Rae's "Tonight Tonight" was on Now 38 and is now a huge radio hit, so they've opted to include it AGAIN on this volume. When you know you have a dedicated fanbase that buys every volume, you really should NOT be repeating songs....

Anyway, I still look to NOW for many top 40 hits to add to my collection (at least the ones that don't need to be censored), but I wish they would stop going the cheap route and actually use the ORIGINAL MASTERS for these compilations. NOW That's What I Call Music Vol. 39 [+Digital Booklet]

This latest edition in the series includes newcomers Tinie Tempah and Eric Turner, Lauren Bennett, country artists Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton along with regulars Lady Gaga, Katy Perry (her fifth straight appearance), The Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, One Republic and Britney Spears. Pitbull has two tracks here also. The What's Next tracks are fine but speaking of which, Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight" was one of them on the last volume but was retained here because it made the Top Ten. Normally I would not mind that but as long as the album sticks to the 16 hit,4 What's Next track format then I'm not so sure. Plus the album runs 73 minutes so another track definitely could have been added. At any rate this is still a great compilation overall. I played this at a party last weekend and was amazed at how many people liked the songs. Play this at your next party and have a blast.

"Now 39: That's What I Call Music" is the latest installment from Capitol Music's multi-artist series. What's cool about this series is it not only features Billboard hits by already established artists (16 tracks), but that it also includes 4 tracks by up and coming, lesser known acts. A quick glance at the track listing shows a respectable list of performers: Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Blake Shelton to name a few. An interesting side note is that the song "Tonight, Tonight" by Hot Chelle Rae was actually on the last edition of the "Now" series (Now 38) as an up and coming artist to watch. The current list of up and comers includes Maria K., Jessica Sutta, Chiddy Bang, and DEV featuring the Cataracs. Keep an eye on those songs as they could well end up being tomorrow's hits. If you like top 40 music and don't want to buy the complete albums from each artist then this is for you!

I have ALOT of the Now thats what I call music Cd's. This one didn't disappoint me at all. I enjoy getting a mixed Cd with new songs all in one place for a reasonable price. I file it electronically on my computer and keep the original CD in a CD book just in case my computer dies. Can't wait for the next one.

"Now 39" has a wonderful mix of various artists across diverse musical spectrums. For example, "Just Can't Enough", "Edge of Glory", "Last Friday Night", "On the Floor",and "Show Me" represents the pop musical spectrum. "Honey Bee" and "Dirt Road Anthem" represent the country musical spectrum. I have to admit that my favorite musical track in this compilation is "Honey Bee" by Blake Shelton. "Honey Bee" is a warm and heartfelt love song about feeling intense love towards someone that encourages you to open up your heart with their sweetness. In addition, it also appears to be a musical track about feeling a sense of excitement in their presence. "Now 39" is a great musical compilation to get for anyone that enjoys listening to some of the most recent various artist music collections. - Various Artists - Clean Music - Now 31 - Mp3'
