Received these Wednesday, 13 April 2011. They are slightly looser than the 40 size ordered and the waist extenders are not engaged. They look very good and the fabric has a nice feel. The fabric is not light weight cotton, having a dense weave, and thicker than denim. Once I have worn them on my trip, I will update their performance, and feel in the tropics.
After washing, the pleat virtually disappeared, and the fabric took on a softer appearance and feel. Further, the cotton material did shrink approximately one-inch and caused the waist expanders to engage. The rear pockets are too small to handle a three-inch by four-inch long wallet, without turning it sideways; inconvenient design. The fabric became silky against the skin and was comfortable for wear in the mid-80's. The dense weave does not permit easy air flow and may be problematic at higher temperatures.
