Digital Notes

The Livescribe Pulse Smartpen is one component of an astonishing system. To take full advantage of its capabilities you need to use special dot paper. One spiral notebook comes with your smartpen. It doesn't take much imagination to realize that sooner or later the notebook will be completely full. The real value of the system depends not just on the price of the pen and starter components but on the affordability of necessary components. For instance printers can sell cheaply because ink is expensive.

These notebooks are reasonably priced, making it clear that Livescribe is not marketing its pen on a model similar to printers. They represent good value which makes the entire system more valuable. Livescribe Single Subject Spiral Notebook ANA-00017, 4-Pack, Nos. 1-4

This is the same notebook that comes as the "starter" notebook with your Livescribe pen. It has 8.5 x 11 inch perforated pages and is spiral-bound. For those who need full sized writing paper, it is excellent. Inkflow from the Livescribe is excellent. The inside covers offer a number of touch-sensitive gadgets, such as keyboards and a calculator, that work with the Livescribe, as well as Livescribe pen controls.

Personally, I've come to prefer the smaller journal sized books for use with the Livescribe, but still use the full-sized notebook from time to time.

It is, frankly, nice to have the choice of the two sizes. Make sure you are familiar with Livescribe's notebook numbering system, which is explained in their Help file.

I read somewhere that LiveScribe will permit users to print their own dot paper in the near future. I called the company (1-877-727-4239) a few days ago, and a female representative told me that a software update will be available in November 2008 to allow this capability. This is very good news. I hope LiveScribe will not slip on that schedule.

This product goes with the Smart Pen. It's fine as a notebook, but the ruling should be wider. That would make the text conversion with the complementary MyScript software easier. Right now, if you have handwriting with long tails on your y's, f's, p's, etc, these letters will drop down and interfere with the caps, dots on your i's, quotation marks, etc. on your next line, and make it hard for the software to accurately convert your notes to text. Just saying. Not optimized for people with larget handwriting, ie, most women.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my livescribe pen, and these notebooks are great. I love that you can keep up to 8 notebooks at a time. I've never needed more than 4 or 5 at a time, but the ability to is fantastic. If you're a student, whether it be high school or college or beyond, a livescribe pen is a purchase you WILL NEVER REGRET! I love it so much, I wish I'd had it in high school! Since I've gotten it, it's made studying easier and I actually absorb more of the information, and I haven't gotten anything less than an A since I've had it. Would highly recommend to EVERY student. Even if you can only get the 1GB (that's actually the one I have, and it holds a TON, I don't know why anyone would need the bigger varieties) I promise you will not regret it! Thank you Amazon, for offering livescribe's products, love that Prime shipping!

These are the notebooks that you need to use with your livescribe pen, are exactly the same as the one that you find in the livescribe's original package. They are numbered,so be sure you buy 1-4 first and then 5-8. After you finish, not sure what you suppposed to do! Enjoy.

They are a little expensive, but I get a lot of use from them.

I am a student at the Community College, taking Advanced Word, dealing with presentation graphics. There are a lot of notes projected on a screen, visual is as important as the microphone in the Smartpen, so these are helpful.

As I do not always review my notes right away, (sometimes two or three days later), I can upload the data from the Smartpen into the computer, see the notes that were taken, and hear the recording of the class. With the LiveScribe pen and the notebook, I really get everything I need to complete my assignments.

I only wish LiveScribe would create dot paper in a steno book. In one of my classes, spiral bound subject books are not used. Like when taking Minutes of a Meeting.

I think all students and secretaries taking minutes could benefit from the Smartpen and the dot paper.

The format of the LiveScribe pen is .aac, not readable by all media players, so I have to convert to mp3, and export the written documents from the LiveScribe Manager software into a word document. I then put them on my flash drive and always have them available to me.

Between the Smartpen and the notebooks, I have become spoiled. These products are a life-line in school.'
