This is advertised as a "Whirlpool" 1/4 turn filter but it fits all 1/4 turn filters including Kenmore side-by-side models. I have been paying $30+ for Kenmore's 9010 filter and this filter is an exact replacement. PUR QTSS Whirlpool Quarter Turn Refrigerator Water Filter

Is a less expensive replacement for whirlpool filter #4396510 and appears to filter the same contaminants.



Original Whirlpool filter label claims: NSF/ANSI Certified against standard 42 for Chlorine taste & odor; particulate reduction class 1; certified against ANSI standard 53 for Lead, Mercury, Benzene, p-Dichlor., Toxaphene 2, Asbestos, Cysts, Turbidity, & Altrazine.



PUR replacement filter label claims: tested and certified against standard #42 and #53. Carton specifically mentions Chlorine taste/odor, Lead, Sediment, p-Dichlor., Benzene.

I'm always a little afraid to order substitute brands, but the price and the picture of the Pur Filter product gave me a little more confidence to give it a try. It took a little long to get delivered than I expected, but once here it fit my Kitchenaid Side-By-Side Refrigerator perfectly and was easy to install. Would recommend this replacement product to others.

Since PUR filters were the highest rated in my Consumer Reports, I decided to give this a try. I was pleased to see that the Sears filter I removed from my Kenmore side by side is made by PUR!!! Basically the same filter, only $15 less.

Another reviewer mentioned the cost of shipping but I got free shipping since it cost $25. A very good buy and still working great 4 months later.

Unlike the review below that states "Fits all Quarter turn refridgerators", this filter DOES NOT FIT LG Refridgerators quarter turn. The filter is too short and the connection head is too big.



Luckily Amazon was awesome enough to refund me, and I am stuck buying the expensive manufacture brand.

Canon Pixma Mx330 - multifunction printer, hp

I needed to replace an old HP deskjet that I've had for more than 5 years that finally decided to stop working properly. I did a lot of research online and quickly got very caught up with all of these massive all-in-one devices that had way more functionality than I would ever need. If you are like me and just need a home printer to print the occasional directions/maps, recipes, coupons, bills, etc., then this is definitely the printer for you.



Before you buy a printer online you need to go to a store and see just how large these all-in-one devices actually are. My wife took one look at them and told me there is no way that is going in our home office even if it also served as a micro fridge and coffee maker. The great thing about this HP 3050 is that it has a much smaller footprint than most all-in-one printers. It has print, copy, and scan functionality, but no fax. Who needs a fax these days anyways when you can just scan a file and then email the scanned document. Most devices don't have a fax out capability anyways so unless you are operating a business out of your house and you receive a lot of faxes the lack of fax on this model should not be a problem.



The printer is not too heavy and it's packaged really well in the box. Instead of being wrapped in styrofoam it is secured with recycled cardboard and wrapped in a reusable canvas bag that you can use for your groceries. It comes with a quick installation guide, as most HP printers do, and the set up went very smoothly with no problems. There is one piece of cardboard wedged inside near the ink cartridges that I missed, but the printer told me of my error and it was easy enough to remove.



Setting up wireless was also not a problem, but you will need to be familiar with your wireless network security settings in order to get the printer connected. An alternative is just using the USB cable, which is nicely included in the box. I haven't played around with web printing yet, but it's not hard to just plug the USB cable into my desktop or laptop and print what I need.



The only negative I can think of is that the printing is a bit loud, but unless you're keeping the printer in the room with the baby crib the noise isn't THAT loud that it would be a dealbreaker. Ink consumption so far is not noticeably different than my prior HP, but I don't print all that much all that often so this is tough to measure for me.



Overall a high quality printer with all the functionality non business users would need with a smaller footprint and lower price tag than most other all-in-one printers. HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer (CH376A#B1H)

I bought this printer to replace my old Lexmark that was very faithful but used very expensive ink. I wasn't

interested in wireless, but wanted a new scanner also and this item was very well priced. The install was painless on windows 7 and took only 10 min. including tests. Printer, copier and scan worked flawlessly. my only concern

is noise when printing starts. I hear several bumps and grinds as printing begins and I hope this is normal.

This is a great product for the occasional home use. Printing, scanning, copying is fast. The build quality isn't top notch, but acceptable. One of the features that was not very clear from the product description was the wireless printing. Box says it needs a WPS enabled router, however, that is only for one touch wireless setup. The printer can be easily configured to print wirelessly from a PC using the HP supplied drivers. I tried this from windows 7 and setup was a breeze. The instructions supplied are very clear and concise. Printer has some in-built templates like calendar, notebook paper, graph paper which I found useful as opposed to downloading a template from the internet and printing that. Wireless printing/scanning works very well (I have a WRT54G router). Scanned files can be converted to jpeg or PDF or TIF.

Purchased this for my aunt, who barely can turn on the laptop it's installed on.



Setup took care of everything, including the wireless option. I really enjoyed that aspect, not having to dig around manually setting this.



Everything works flawlessly, the ink isn't too expensive.



The only downside comes from the motors used in the scanning and rollers in printing, they are loud,enough that I would get annoyed sitting there with a large job, but this is where the benefit of the wireless comes in. Worked a full floor above at the opposite corner of the house both scan and print... not lightning fast, but still suprisingly quick and zero hassle. Would and have recommended this model to others.

I work in the IT industry, so every time people move offices they come to me for a power strip. I buy these power strips regularly because:



1. They have seemed to protect adequately for surges

2. They are very compact

3. They are cheap!!!!

4. The big one-- the power switch is on the side where the power cable exits the strip. This has a big advantage.



You'd be amazed how many times people, cleaning crews or others accidentally flip the power switch on a power strip that may be under the edge of a desk or in an area that can get bumped but isn't easily seen. That also causes problems because people don't understand why their stuff isn't working. Having the switch on the side dramatically reduces the frequency with which I get calls because "stuff stopped working"... No one ever expects the simple answer and always assume a device has gone bad, etc.



The color fits in with your average office creme color, and unless you are going to get a power squid or UPS I wouldn't spend more on a power strip than the cost of this. Belkin 6-Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector

I needed this for my bedside table, for my alarm clocks, cell phone charger, lamp, etc. It is perfect for little things like that. The cord is very short but for what I need to use it for that is okay. I wouldn't use it for anything other than something small like that.



The main downside to it is that it doesn't have a flatter plug. Several surge protectors have that now so it fits closer to the wall, and since this will be going in behind my bed I would've preferred that. That is why it lost a star. Otherwise, it suited my needs perfectly.

This spike bar is awesome and the color is very nice in my opinion. It comes with a warranty protecting all your devices plugged into the product. if your devices get damaged from a shock while plugged in the spike bar then the company will replace it up to a certain dollar amount which i think is $10,000.

This power strip contains a plain and simple design, not much features but does it job under a desk, the slim design fits well in tight space. However there is no light to indicate if the strip is on or not. Overall the build quality seems to be adequate for home or small office use.

Nothing special about this surge protector, but that shouldn't be taken as a negative. This is a solid surge protector at a great price. It provides everything you would expect in a surge protector in this price range. It looks good too. I have every reason to expect this last a long time.'

I've bought many UV filters for my cameras, from Hoya and B&W to Promaster and I must say that the Sigma EX MC is the best one. Although most companies claim that their UV filters cut down haze, in reality my experience has been that they really don't. However, I found the Sigma UV filter to noticeably cut down haze and produce very clean, sharp images without altering picture quality in any way. I strongly recommend this filter to protect your camera lens and reduce haze that can ruin your pictures. Sigma DG 52mm Multi-Coated UV Filter

My previous filters from a cheap set I purchased off ebay. They did the job just fine, but had obvious reflections and all at times. When my Sigma arrived, I held it in the light beside my previous filter. There were practically no reflections on the Sigma!



Do yourself a favor, get a decent filter! Multi-coated is the way to go. Eventually reflections will disrupt your photos.

Flat-out, the Sigma EX DG ultraviolet filter is hands-down the best UV filter I have ever used. I've had a handful from Hoya, Tiffen, and Zeikos...and always truly believed that it was just to protect the lens, and the clarity of picture was changed in such minute ways, that it was more or less unnoticeable. However, just holding this lens up next to any of my other UV lenses side-by-side, and you can genuinely see the difference. While $20+ does seem just a little on the steep side for just a UV filter when there are so many out there for less than $5, it's good knowing that unless something tragic happens to this one, I'll never need another. I fully intend to buy one in each diameter I need to cover all my lenses.



PROS:

+ Amazing quality UV filter

+ Excellent finish on the entire product

+ Reduces haze noticeably by simple sight, as well as in all pictures



CONS:

- $20+ may be more than some people are willing to pay for a UV filter

To protect my newly purchased Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens, I needed to find an adequate UV filter. This was a great purchase. You can tell that it is solidly built. I thought about buying a cheaper filter, but decided not to skimp and pay $15 more. And it was sure a good choice!



When buying a UV filter for your lens, this is the one to get.

This Sigma is better at dispersing reflections than the Tiffen UV filters I've been using. Just looking at a reflection on both filters shows the difference: the Tiffen shows a bright white reflection of a window, while the Sigma shows a dim green reflection, much like the lens of a camera. The threads also seem to be better machined, as the filter goes on and off more smoothly than the Tiffens.



Any sort of cleaning seems to remove part of the multi-coating. There was a dust-like spot on a brand-new Sigma, and when neither a Rocket Blaster nor a Lens Pen could remove it, I tried ethanol lens cleaner with both a cleaning cloth and a Pec Pad. Some of the multi-coating came off and smeared: I bought three of these filters, and could compare an untouched one with the cleaned one. The untouched one has a "greener" reflection than the cleaned one. Both are still a lot better than the Tiffen.



Turns out that cleaning the second Sigma filter with just a Lens Pen also removed some of the multi-coating, so maybe it wasn't the ethanol. I could try water or soap-and-water on the third one, but am not anxious to do so until necessary.

Did side by side comparison with Hoya's basic $7 52mm UV Filter - the difference is night and day. C'mon, you've spent hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars on your DSLR / lens / tripods / accessories all for that flare- and ghosting-free image. Don't skimp out on a quality filter - it's the only thing between your subject and your glass.



This filter is an incredible bargain - high quality multi-coated glass at 1/3 of the price of similarly crafted filters. Go out and get one now!

I use this filter on my Nikkor lenses that take 52 mm. Overall very happy with this filter, I own 3 of them, all purchased from Amazon. Unlike other posts, all of mine have come in sealed packages, clean, brand new appearing.



Pros:

+High quality feel and construction

+Excellent multi-coating, reduces glare very well

+No noticeable image degradation

+Very affordable for the features, the best filter in this price range



Cons:

-As others have noted, can be difficult to clean

-There are better filters out there, but at only $20 (roughly 1/3 or 1/4 the cost of those better filters) this is a no-brainer

Very clear. Looking through the filter straight on, it's basically invisible. (Reflections show at shallow angles, of course, but that's not relevant.) What is interesting is that I could tell it filtered UV without even putting it on the camera! Our office has coated windows to cut down on infrared and visible light. (We're in Tucson, it's hot in the desert.) It is obvious that ultraviolet light is still coming through at full strength, since some white things are visibly fluorescing.

The filter casts a yellow "shadow" when it blocks window light from fluorescing paper, but when I move the filter aside from the paper, so I can still look through it at the paper, but it doesn't block window light from the paper anymore, the paper is completely purplish-white, not yellow at all. Cool!



And it's nice that it has a metal ring threaded on both sides, instead of a plastic ring. I just had to make sure I threaded it carefully when putting it on my Canon 50mm 1.8f II (plastic). - Uv Filter - Lens Filter - Filter - Photography'

Single Serve Coffee Maker - personal coffee maker, great value

I've seen other reviewers complaints about this coffee maker, but I've used it for years & haven't had any problems with it. It's easy to use, compact, & works quickly. My wife & I both drink coffee, but not the same type, so it doesn't make sense for us to use a 2+ cup coffee maker since we'd have to make two separate portions anyway. So we each have our own B&D, & use them simultaneously. The coffee comes out fine; I use Starbucks Verona (which my wife says tastes like burnt coffee from the bottom of a pot anyway), & she uses a decaff chocolate blueberry flavor. The only difficulty (& it's not a fault of the B&D) is that the #1 filters are hard to find, even on the internet, but this coffee maker comes with a permanent, dishwasher safe filter, so you really don't have to use paper filters if you don't want to. I recommend this product for anyone who wants a quick cup of coffee & doesn't need more than one cup at a time.

I have used this coffee maker for over 5 years now and it's still running great. In fact, I just bought another one to take on trips & bring to the office.

Pros:

1. I don't have to make more than one serving at a time for myself and it brews straight into the mug.

2. It comes with a permanent filter but you can also use cone filters size #1 which I can buy nearby. Less messy to clean up using the paper filter. I just toss the grounds in the trash.

3. Quick to brew; done in < 5 minutes



Cons:

1. Hard to find a replacement mug of the right size or permanent filter

2. No warming element

3. The grounds do soak up some water and less comes out that you put in but it also happens with larger coffee pots (which being larger, you don't notice as much because you aren't MEASURING with the same cup you drink from).



Hints:

1. To stop grounds from floating into the water resevoir, use drip or cone ground coffee. Avoid very finely ground (i.e., espresso)

2. To avoid overflows, leave the cover off while brewing.

I am the only coffee drinker in my family and had a Brew N' Go for over 6 years when the mesh filter began to separate from the plastic. Unfortunately, Black and Decker changed the design and I was unable to find a replacement filter from them or anybody. I looked for a replacement single cup coffee maker in several retailers and finally found one on Amazon at a very reasonable price.



However, newer is not better. The new model filter only has screen on the 2 sides and is mostly plastic, where as the original was mostly a fine screen with plastic reinforcement.



From the very first cup it was a disappointment, as coffee grounds overflowed into my cup and throughout the coffee maker. This new design filter does not let the water pass through quick enough when you use a fine or moderate grinds of coffee. With larger grinds the coffee comes out weak, or if you try to make it stronger by adding more grinds you can have the same overflow problem! For months I would put coarse coffee in the bottom and the better fine ground coffee on top and crossed my fingers.



Then the other day I was in CVS and saw a single cup coffee maker for 15 bucks. It has a mostly screen filter like the original B&D and works great! The next day I was in Big Lots and found another one that appears to use a #2 filter (so replacements can be easy in the future) and it works great for 10 bucks!!



The Black and Decker is going in the trash!! Save yourself the hassle and get something else and make sure it has a lot of screen area in the filter.

5 weeks after I purchased this coffee maker it quit working. I contacted Black and Decker about it and they sent me to another company (Applica Consumer Products) that actually manufacture and produce the coffee maker for them. This company responded only after a long while and simply said, "We're sorry, we have not experienced any problems with this coffee maker so we are unable to refund your money." Another comment from Applica worth noting was: "Applica Consumer Products does not have a money back guarantee policy." What this means is, if you are unhappy for any reason with your Black and Decker/Applica Consumer Product, well too bad! You bought it and if you don't like or it quits working, you're SOL! If you are in the market for a personal-type coffee maker, such as the Black and Decker Brew N Go, I would suggest you avoid this one like the plaque!

Pros:

- Good tasting hot coffee.

- Includes permanent filter.



Cons:

- Coffee mug is plastic, which means hot coffee rapidly turns warm.

- Besides the removable lid, the coffee mug consists of two pieces, a black container and a brown outer housing. Water tends to seep between the container and housing after a few hand-washings or one run through the dishwasher. You must separate the two pieces to remove the water. That's when you'll discover the seal between the two is simply a thin rubber band.

- Coffee grounds ALWAYS attach to the overhead where the hot water enters the grounds chamber, which means a little extra effort cleaning the unit between brews.

- Coffee grounds frequently enter the water reservoir and seep between the permanent filter and the filter housing, which means even more effort cleaning the unit between brews. Recommend buying number 2 cone filters; less mess.



Note: Black & Decker has released an improved model, the DCM-18S. It has a stainless outer shell and they have solved the issue of the housing coming apart from the inner shell. Ipod Dock System - iphone speakers, ipod speakers

I had agonized over the ideal dock for my iPod Touch with the stipulations that it had to be a reasonable size (I've lost some interest in big component systems.), and it would need at least an FM radio. While I've wanted to try HD radio, my understanding of availability in my area was that it could be if-y. So, good FM access would be fine. It seems like a small thing, but I'm legally blind and don't drive, so casual access to something like a car radio is fairly rare for me. My first, and most familiar, choice was a product that I had some familiarity with - the VERS system, with newer models incorporating a highly visible FM tuner. I had eventually tired of shipping delays for this device and gone to Best Buy to find the Sony.



Not only did the Sony dock have better sound than the VERS that I once owned, it was smaller, stylish and has the best receiving FM tuner that I've ever found in a portable or non-portable device. I've tended to live in older homes with older wiring and cloth wrapped interference bleeding electrical systems. The reception on the Sony dock is unlike any that I've ever owned, even with the convenient telescoping antenna in the stowed position. And the sound is rich and vibrant - certainly comparable to the similar Bose device that sports no FM tuner at twice the price.



The controls at the top of the dock are easily accessed and perform all of the functions found on the remote. As I noted above, I'm legally blind, but depend just enough on the tiny amount of eyesight that I do have to make use of digital displays. This one, unfortunately, and while not a deal-breaker, is terrible. It could be larger, though it's not unreasonably small. The problem is that it's abysmally dim - of almost no use to me. If this was an adjustable - and it wouldn't have hurt if it was larger - the dock would have received 5 stars from me.



In all, the RDP-XF100iP dock is not just a fine dock that does what I'd expect a dock to do, but is a nicely put together package that represents Sony quality first represented for me in my first Trinitron to my latest HD television. I have an Ipod touch 3rd generation 32mb. I have been looking at several docking stations and the cheap ones sounded like cheap ones and the expensive ones (Bose) sound awesome but are 4 to 5 times the cost ($399). The Sony came out just recently and it definitely sounds just as good as the Bose and is at least $150 less expensive. The bass is full and deep and the highs are crystal clear even at high volumes. Besides a cheaper price, another bonus this has over the Bose is the FM tuner, which the Bose lacks. It is portable and the battery can easily run 6-7 hours straight. Bottom line is if you are willing to spend a little more for the Sony over the cheaper ones, you will not be disappointed!

I compared this radio to the one from Bose that lists for $399 at Best Buy. I wanted a unit that had an internal rechargeable battery, remote, and the ability to have high volume without distortion. The Sony delivers on all three for $150 less. Plus, the Sony has a fm radio built in and the rechargeable battery can be replaced unlike the Bose.

I purchased the Sony RDP-XF100IP a couple of weeks ago and I really put it to the test !!!! I compared it along side of my Bose SoundDock Portable! I had read so many good things about the Sony RDP-XF100IP, and some even dared to compare it to the more costly Bose SoundDock Portable.



So how does the Sony RDP-XF100IP sound ? It sounds really good and for the money and the size of the unit it sounds great! When I was in "Best Buy" I listened to the Logitech s715i and I compared it to the Sony RDP-XF100IP, the Sony won hands down, the Logitech s715i sounded a little tiny and weak compared it to the Sony RDP-XF100IP !



But still I can say that the Logitech s715i sounds better than any portable speaker it's size that I have ever heard ! As far as the Logitech s715i goes I would never buy that unit because when it is ran by battery power it cuts the bass in half and it also cuts the volume down, to me that is a deal breaker,but if the Logitech s715i gave me a choice to turn off the battery saver mode, I would buy it in a heartbeat !



I hate the fact that when you run some units by battery they automatically go into battery saver mode and then they cut the bass and volume way down "Harman Kardon's Go + Play" does the same thing and I hate it !



I used my mp3 player, playing the same songs, when I compared the Sony RDP-XF100IP sound to the Bose, I noticed at first that the Sony,s mid-range sounded a little colored, you might say a little dark or bass heavy, while the Bose sounded perfect. After I adjusted my mp3 player and removed some of the bass, the Sony sounded almost as good as the Bose, and with some songs just as good if not better. But I must say over all I think the Bose sounded just a little bit better !



But for half the price I think Sony did a really good job!

I also compared the over all volume of each speaker !

This is where Bose beats the Sony hands down !!!!



When I was indoors the Sony played reasonably loud but when I went outdoors around a lot of traffic, and playing the Sony at "Full Volume", the Sony got drowned out!!!



For some reason the Sony can't play really loud !

On the other hand the Bose can scream,I have taken my Bose around heavy traffic many times with no problem what so ever!

Matter of fact the Bose gets so loud until I'm afraid I might get in trouble for disturbing the peace !



If 10 was the loudest volume the Bose could play at , I would say in comparison, the Sony plays at about 6 1/2 to 7 !



Now lets talk about the Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery's !

The Sony comes with a very small Battery that fits inside of the unit, on the other hand the Bose has a very large Battery that fits on the back of the unit!



The Sony battery lasted less than 2 hours while playing at a high volume for the Sony !



On the other hand I have played the Bose for 5 and six hours "with battery power left over" at a louder volume than I played the Sony at for less than 2 hours!!!!

The Bose battery is far superior to the Sony's !!!!!!



The comparatively low volume and the weak battery life of the Sony was a deal breaker for me, so I returned the Sony !

But if you can put up with the volume of the Sony and the weak battery life you could save $200 !



You have to decide for yourself !



Now lets talk about the Bose a little more , I have owned the Bose SoundDock Portable for about a year now and it is without a doubt the best sounding portable speaker for it's size !!!!! There are a few larger portable speakers that sound a little bit better than the Bose when ran by AC ! To name a few that may sound a little better, Harman Kardon's Go + Play, Kicker iK501, Altec Lansing iMT800, Bowers & Wilkins'Zeppelin, iPod Hi-Fi, Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 !



What do all of those speakers have in common? They are all much larger than the Bose, about twice as large!!!! None of them run on a long lasting Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery like the Bose does !



Bottom line is Bose is the Best "Pound per Pound" battery powered portable speaker system for it's size !!!! I have the Harman Kardon's Go + Play, I had the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7,the Sony RDP-XF100IP, plus I have many others and I can't find a small "around 5.2 pounds" speaker system for any price that beats the Bose !!!



I don't want to carry around a unit that is larger or heaver than the Bose SoundDock Portable, so if you think you know of a "Better" Battery Powered Portable Speaker System that weighs around the same or less than the Bose with the battery included, please let me know, I don't think one exists at this time ! - Ipod Speakers - Iphone Speakers - Ipod Dock - Iphone Dock'

We purchased the Eurekea Medium Solar Tent in preparation for a spring trip to the coast. We had debated whether or not to buy a pop-up or a more traditional tent. I practiced putting it up in the living room. It went up quite easily in under 5 minutes. In my living room, the tent was HUGE! and I was worried that it would be too large for our needs.



Our first day at the beach was incredibly windy; however, the tent was still easy to assemble. We did need to use both the sand bags AND the front stakes to keep it steady - but once up, it provided a great beach shelter. We had no problems with stability. A really nice place to get out of the sun for both adults and children. The cross ventilation meant it never got hot, even when the sun was at its hottest. Of course, it was April, and not August - but we are quite happy with the product.



One minor issue - as you push the poles through the sleeves, they tend to catch. Make sure you help thread it through so you don't tear the sleeves. A recommendation. Scoop the sand into zipper bags before you put them in the pockets to make cleanup easier. Reuse the zipper bags to be environmentally friendly. Eureka Large Solar Shade Tent

We bought this tent to travel with our newborn to the beach and it is amazing. the setup is quick and we are the envy of all beachgoers. It is lightweight and well constructed. I highly recommend this to all who desire shade and comfort.

We got this for our Hawaii vacation. It is extremely easy to set up. It takes two people: one to hold the fabric and the other to guide in the poles (2 separate poles). We did a practice run in the living before our trip to make sure we knew how it was done. On the beach, it only took 5 mins to assemble and 5 mins to take down. It provides excellent shade protection for babies, children, and adults. The fabric floor also helps minimize sitting in sand. We got a medium and it was plenty of space for 3 adults and a baby. It packs down into a nice size case of its own. On the plane it can be checked into a large suitcase. We'll use this again and again for afternoons at the beach and the park all summer long.

Purchased the large version and thought it might be too big. Amazon didn't have the medium version available for Prime shipping.



The large was perfect for Newport Beach where there is so much beach it never really got totally crowded where people were laying out in 2 or 3 rows of people like on smaller beaches. This means, everyone that was there sat right along the shoreline so the large tent really didn't stick out. At a smaller beach, I'd probably not use this tent since it would probably be an eyesore and keep some people from seeing the beach.



We used it 3 days in a row, all day from morning to night. The wind picked up pretty well towards the late afternoon and it stayed put. I HIGHLY recommend filling the sand bags with damp/wet sand (heavier) and digging a decent 1 to 1.5 foot deep whole to bury the bags in. Even consider mounding sand on top of the spot if the wind picks up. I also staked down the front corners with fairly long plastic stakes (Not included. It includes skinny metal stakes.) Whether the windows were open or not, it stayed down nicely.



It does need quite a bit of fiddling to get the stakes through without tearing anything. But, if you are patient you'll have no problem even in the wind. Some people suggest using a ziplock bag when filling the sandbags to make cleanup easier. I did this every time and it seemed OK for cleanup but maybe not a huge difference. It possibly made filling the sandbags a little easier since the bags sort of acted like a funnel while I put a some of the ziplock into the sandbag and the sand funneled in (hard to describe, you'll see).



In the end of our trip, it survived the wind, kids, sitting in chairs inside of it and general wear-n-tear. No apparent holes or rips. Nice.



I'd consider the small or medium for smaller beaches and shorter visits. It took me a good 15+ minutes to set the large up by myself with light/med. wind. But, that included filling all 4 bags, digging 4 decent holes, filling the holes, setting up tent poles (push, don't pull) and properly staking down the corners. I'd still probably stick to a standard beach umbrella for shorter trips to smaller beaches so I minimize setup time and also don't annoy people behind me when I arrive by blocking their view.

I mainly bought this shade tent to keep my 8 month old out of the sun during a Gulf of Mexico beach vacation in Florida, but it ended up being used by my entire family. It affords much more coverage than an unbrella, or even an overhead tarp because it has a top and 3 walls.



I performed a test assembly and disassembly in my yard at home before attempting this at the beach, and highly suggest any potential buyers to do the same. The first few times required 2 people, but after that I could assemble/disassemble by myself in about 10 minutes. The hardest part is successfully removing the spring loaded breakdown poles during disassembly, because they want to catch on the tent sleeves during removal. The key is to position the sleeves as straight as possible, and to push the poles instead of pulling them.



The tent is very effective in keeping you in the shade, and can comfortably seat 3-4 adults and an infant. The mesh interior storage pockets come in very handy, and were used quite often. The roll-up windows allow some breeze to blow through, but can also be easily closed for privacy or to block the sun. The corner sand pockets are an absolute must at the beach, because regular tent stakes would never hold this thing down on a windy beach.
