Xbox 360 - microsoft, xbox 360 live

To start off, I'd like to say that X-Box Live is amazing and worth every penny. Online gaming is incredibly fun and quite a good way to pass time.

That aside, there are downsides to X-Box Live that can be avoided through prepaid cards. Number one, you always run the risk that unwarranted transactions will be made if your credit card information is stored on your X-Box 360 system. It may not happen all that often, but it's best to avoid it all together.

The biggest reason to buy prepaid Xbox Live card is the renewal process that happens when you don't use one. If you order X-Box Live through your system, it'll renew every time your subscription runs out. This wouldn't be a problem except that it's not that easy to cancel. Instead of canceling through your system, you have to go through the hassle of actually calling X-Box Live support. Even then, depending on the representative you get, you may be hassled to keep your subscription because they really don't want you to cancel it. I'm guessing that's part of their job to convince you to keep it, but it still is frustrating to the person that is trying to cancel it.

You'll have to go through this process every time you want to cancel if you don't use a prepaid card. Is that hassle really worth it? I don't think so. Therefore, avoid all of the problems by simply buying a prepaid card. You won't be sorry.

UPDATE: (3/6/2011): I updated this review about a year ago pointing out that you could disable the subscription on X-Box Live's website. As of this update, they've taken that feature away again. I'm guessing Microsoft must have seen a major increase on people who canceled their subscription, thus now forcing you to call their customer service hot-line again to cancel. Even if they add it back, just save yourself the hassle and get a prepaid card. You never have to worry about dealing with customer service that will try their hardest to get you to stay on as a recurring customer. Amazon also gives great deals throughout the year. You could save yourself $20 to $30 sometimes just by checking to see if Amazon has these prepaid cards on sale. What's not to love about that? Xbox 360 Live 3 Month Gold Card

From what I can find this is the cheapest cost per month option available for a live gold subscription. Depending on the current price, it ranges from $2.9158 to $3.3325 per month. What I don't get is why this credit card sized subscription card comes in such wasteful packaging. It comes in a rather large plastic packaging, which requires it to be shipped in a box. You get free shipping, but how wasteful. Why doesn't amazon just offer the code online and not eat the cost of shipping and at the same time be a little greener?

Find the card on sale every so often each year. Don't pay the full price. The Xbox Live Gold is stellar and I love it, but I don't see how they charge $50 or more a year and you don't get any freebies...other than advanced demo downloads. They need to throw a bone for a free song or discounted DLC or a free rental every so often. I have spent well over $1000 in my 3 years with the Xbox 360 on peripherals, games and downloads. 2% of my money spent as a gift would have paid for 1600 points of DLC...that would be a nice thank you from Xbox 360 for keeping their community alive and well.

This is the BEST deal I have ever found on the Xbox Live 12 Month Subscription.

I looked 6-10 different places for a deal on this and only found 1 close to this and that was wal-fart but I dislike shopping there so Amazon was the place to go.

This should be a guaranteed buy and you CAN'T beat the Price!!!

I was worried that the card would not work in Canada, but it seems to be fine. Have been using XBOX LIVE for about a week with no problems, but will hang on to the card, as advised by another reviewer, just in case.

There's nothing more fun than being able to go online everyday day and being able to talk to and play with friends around the world. Xbox live is also a great way to meet new people and make new friends. This can be hard because there are so many immature people on Xbox Live. I would warn anyone with small children or those who do not like foul language to be careful because never in your life will you hear the F bomb or the N word as often as you do on Live. Of course there are parental settings and you can keep communications just between friends but still this is one of the biggest downfalls to Live. Another problem with Live is customer service. Yes, you can e-mail them or call them at 1-800-4myxbox (good luck getting help there) but the service is terrible. Even with these downfalls I still have to strongly recommend Live because being able to play videogames over the internet and keep up with friends and family that live far away is too much fun to pass up. - Microsoft - Xbox 360 Live - Xbox Live Card - Xbox Live'

Bait And Switch

Perhaps the item pictured is great, but what the seller will send you instead is a horrible substitute. ***The substitute item is cheaply made, size XL, and has an ugly 2-inch "bow-type-monstrosity" near the thumb. I would advise against ordering this "substitute" product. (I was sent the wrong item, as was another customer on here, so I can only rate what I was sent). If you want what is pictured, I would advise looking for an alternative seller. TIGHT FITTING CORDERED BLACK LONG ARM WARMERS W/THUMB

I was very excited to get these since I have long arms and figured that these would help cover my wrists in the cold. They do that, however the product is CHEAP! I've worn then for less than a week and they are already starting to fray! don't buy this product, I was very disappointed!

I really wanted these to fit my hands and arms. They were way too big and I'm not exactly petite. The hand portion could easily fit someone with very large hands and very long fingers. Now to wear them, I have to find alterations that I can do myself. NOT tight fitting!

I ordered this armwarmers in black, but istead I was sent a completely different thing. I got a pair of black, elbow-length armwarmers, with a horrible little flower near the thumbhole. I dont think it's a very reliable seller.

The item I received is nothing like the item pictured or described. It is a cheaply made cable knit arm warmer. Very large, loose fit. Also had the ugly flower type thing near the thumb hole. Fortunately they are so cheaply made that the flower thing pulled right off. I will never order another item from this seller and believe Amazon should no longer offer their items as the "bait and switch" they pull seems to be consistent judging from other reviews. I expect better from Amazon vendors.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! DON'T BUY THESE! The picture shown is NOT what you're going to get! The picture shows a snug fitting rib knit style arm warmer. If you look at this same product in other available colors you will see it is plain and straight forward. What you will actually get is a loose fitting, thick, cable knit arm warmer with a "lace up" type design going through the center of the warmer from top to bottom (which by itself is kinda cool)and would have been fine-ON THE RIB KNIT STYLE THAT I ACTUALLY ORDERED!! BUT.....and this is the biggie....it's bad enough that it's a loose cable knit, but just to the side of the thumb hole is the ugliest, most ridiculous, crocheted, two-layer flower!! It's hideous! No one other than my 80 year grandma and my 5 year old niece would actually want to wear it! The cardboard "tag/hanger" it comes on even says it's for girls. How on earth they can stay in business with false advertising, ripping people off is beyond me, but I strongly advise you to look else where.....unless you like being disappointed!

I was expecting these tight fitting elastic arm warmers and I was really excited. And as soon as I opened the package I was completely disappointed. They were too big and had this ugly looking flower thing on them. They also were knitted and were poor quality. Definitely dont recommend this seller and product.

When I ordered these I needed something to cover my arms. The fabric was itchy and it looked nothing like the picture. They are black with a weird pattern and stupid flowers on each thumb hole. Worst of all though, I tried them on and they pretty much unraveled in my hands. They weren't sown together properly and I couldn't return them. If you buy this, you are getting a ton of itchy yarn not put together in anyway.'

Ebook Reader - chia, ebook reader

This was given as a gift to my daughter. We followed directions and within two days we had sprouts. Each day, as the sprouts grew more and more, she was totally impressed. She also loved the Sponge Bob design. Chia SpongeBob Handmade Decorative Planter

I purchased this Chia pet for my 4 year old son because he loves Spongebob and he saw the infomercial for it and really wanted Santa to include it in his list, so he got it, we did exactly what the directions said, all the way from soaking the pot for an hour, filling it with water, covering the top in the gel, then carefully spreading the seeds. I also made sure that there was water in it. It was suppose to be fully grown in 2 weeks. My son was so disappointed when it never grew. I mean, nothing happened. It just looked discusting but never sprouted at all. I took it back to the store and got a refund. Don't waste your money on this Chia pet or any other Chia product that's made like this. It is a complete waste of time and effort. - Kindle - Chia - Ebook Reader'

Notebook Charger - ac adapter, power adapter

Since I only paid $300 for my laptop, I was not thrilled with the prices I was finding for a replacement charger. I was very excited to find one for such a low price at Amazon. This charger works perfect and I am not out almost a third of what I originally paid for my laptop!! The part that went bad on mine was the end that plugs into the laptop, so I was able to keep the original power cord since the one that does come with it is short. Ac Adapter Power Supply Charger for Hp 463958-001 Ppp009l Pa-1650-02hn 463552-001 Laptop

After my HP charger died, I had to choose between paying a large amount of money for an authentic charger, or taking a chance with a knockoff. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised. I turned my old HP into a server, and simply needed something to give it consistent power. As many reviewers have noted, the cord is significantly shorter than the standard charger, though, in my case, this was not much of a concern. If you needed most of the length of your old charger, look elsewhere. Beyond that, though, I've found this charger to perform very well, especially for the price. It is very lightweight, and does feel fairly cheap, but it doesn't run very hot, and I've hadn't had any issues with it. Using it for a server, it's been running 24/7 for the last six months and hasn't had a problem. Though I can't speak for how well it would hold up being folded and put into backpacks, the electronics seem very sound. I've recommended it to people with old HPs who are in need of a replacement charger and are tired of putting more money in their computer. - Ac Adapter - Laptop Power Adapters - Power Adapter - Notebook Power Adapters'

Surround Sound - speakers, home theater

If you have one of these...you need to remove the speaker grille. Look on the lower right side and you'll notice an opening for the LED indicators, but they failed to create one in the framing to accommodate the IR receiver. A few snips with some sidecutters and you can solve the problem. My remote now works flawlessly from all angles at a considerable distance.

I have no room or need for a subwoofer in this application and this sound bar was perfect, at the price I could not pass it up. VIZIO VSB200 Universal HD Sound Bar

I got this for $99. refurbished; no tax, free shipping. read all the reviews (here & elsewhere), and seemed like a great deal.

easy setup. i bought an optical audio cable in advance, so could hook that up to my samsung tv. hooked an airport express up to the analog inputs (wireless itunes from my macbook). at first, thought the unit was dead; no audio. turns out the remote did not work. replaced the battery and...still nothing. emailed the retailer. but...bent the battery contacts carefully with a small screwdriver, and now it's working. should not have had to do this.

the unit sounds great. i usually do NOT use the surround gimmick (but it sounds great on "big" movies, ie "the fifth element", etc). remote works ok, it HAS to be pointed in the right place.

what i don't like: when i first took it out of the box, it could sit right up against my tv; but, with the cables (in the back center), it has to stick out a bit. shame the cables weren't on the back to one side. and the silver plate with "vizio" is a mistake; my eye is drawn to it periodically; the unit would be better all black (like a lot of soundbars); i want to watch the tv, not the soundbar. the remote not working, and now, working (but finicky).

still, overall, a great deal (even new at $150). the remote could be better, would be nice to have some eq settings options (even presets like "movie" "stadium" etc), but a great deal overall and worlds better than the internal speakers in most tvs.

3 1/2 stars really (docked a 1/2 for the remote).

EDIT: bumped up 1/2 star. vizio (quickly) sent me a new remote; i also removed the faceplate (and replaced the default 'legs' with small black rubber ones...

and am happy(er)...

EDIT 2: 2 days later, and the new remote stopped working. had to bend the battery clips inside this one as well... so 3 1/2 stars after all...!

We recently purchased a new Vizio LCD TV for the bedroom. The TV is fantastic, but the sound quality is thin as is the case with almost all LCD TVs. When I found out the price of this Vizio soundbar and saw the reviews, I came to the conclusion that this is a no brainer.

It produces surprisingly broad sound without a sub-woofer (a sub-woofer in a bedroom seems like overkill anyway). It fills the space wonderfully.

A few pointers:

The is an enclosed set of speakers with an amplifier. The soundbar does not provide any treble/bass/equalizer control over the sound. Thus, it simply broadcasts the sound based on the input source. Modern TV's tend to have very good audio controls for treble and bass. This is where you will control the breadth of the sound. The soundbar does however enable you to turn on or off SRS Surround. From trying it on and off, I found that 'on' sounds much better. I read one professional audio review of this sound bar that said half-jokingly, 'just turn on the SRS Surround then break the switch'. I would have to agree.

If your ordering the soundbar from Amazon you might consider ordering the toslink digital audio optical cable at the same time. They currently cost $2.77 w/ free shipping. At that cost for the improved sound quality it's an incredible bargain.

The soundbar has one weakness, as has been described many times from other reviewers. Out of the box the remote has a limited range. The problem is not the remote, it's the IR receiver on the soundbar hasn't got a clear line of sight to the remote from all directions. Vizio commmitted an engineering blunder here, but as mentioned by a previous reviewer this is easily solved:

- Carefully remove the speaker grill. It's connected with rubber plugs that hold it in. Start from one end, it'll come right off.

- On the bottom right side you'll see the LED lights and to the left of the lights, you'll see the little black IR signal receptor.

- The back side of the grill is a plastic honeycomb. Just cut a square out of the honeycomb to make room for the IR signal being careful to avoid cutting the speaker grill cloth at the same time. I used a pair of wire cutters.

Once I did this simple manuevuer I had an excellent signal from the remote from all directions.

If you're on a budget and want big sound at a reasonable price for your living room TV, I think this is an excellent choice. I would buy this without a sub-woofer. Once you hear it you can judge whether to spend extra on a sub-woofer.

I love watching movies, and sound can be a big enhancement but with neighbors and roommates couldnt really do a whole stereo set up, this works great for a small space where you want enhanced stereo sound for TV/Movies. I have it hooked up opticly to my tv, and rcad to my ruku, and dvd player, works as expected, it also has an output for a sub. Remote is a little flimsy but the unit is perfect for my needs. I just noticed the other review here for this, I have it connected to a Panasonic VIERA C12 Series TC-L32C12 and it works fine for me with this set.

A word of caution: I purchased this Vizio sound bar from Amazon a week ago to be coupled with a LG flat screen, model42LD520, which has only an optical sound output. This LG TV outputs an optical signal that is not compatible with the sound bar S/PDIF input. This Vizio sound bar requires a PCM optical signal which is not available on this TV. Thus one can not run an optical sound signal via the TV from external components to the bar. The optical link works fine from a HD Direct-TV receiver. I call the LG Customer Service and was told that there was no way to change the TV output to PCM. The agent had heard of this problem before and it seems to be related to this Vizio sound bar not necessarily others brands. I find this sound bar to be a good value except for what is mentioned and it does have two R/L analog inputs. - Vizio - Speakers - Home Theater - Sound Bar'

Toddlers - thermal, kids

I bought a youth 8 size for my 7 year old boy and we just returned from almost 2 weeks in Mexico where this got near constant use. The boy is as skinny as a rail and while a strong swimmer had to bow out of an ocean snorkle trip last year after 45 minutes because he got too cold - so we figured that getting him a wet suit would help him last longer in the pool and in the ocean. The Aqua Sphere Stingray kids shorty wetsuit is well made, with nice lycra stretch panels at legs and shoulders and neck and a good neoprene wetsuit torso. There's a big beefy zipper and a velcro zipper lock at the top. None of the stitching or construction showed any sign of weakness in the first couple of weeks of use and it certainly did help the boy stay warm in the ocean and the pool. It also helped with solar cover up. When he wore the suit it protected all his body except limbs and face from sun burn.

There were only 2 downsides:

1) Leg opening cuffs too tight. I pulled and stretched them out as much as I dared and that helped - but there were still a bit tight. This is suprising because the boy is skinny as a rail and I bought one size up and it fits him otherwise. I'm considering cutting a notch and then doing my own reinforcement stitching (if I can find the requisite stretch lycra thread.

2) The neoprene grips on waterslides so he had to take it off when using waterslides - which definitely put in crimp in the usefulness on waterslide days.

All in all well recommended for kids for a wide range of circumstances. Consider going one to two sizes up to account for the tight legs. Aqua Sphere Stingray 2mm Youth Core Warmer (X-Large 8-10, Purple)

I bought this to keep my kid warm in an outdoor pool in Orlando in February. It bought us about and extra 10 minutes of swim time before he turned into a total popsicle, but that was it. The water was heated to 72, and the air was 70. I really didn't think I was asking too much, but apparently I was... I think I needed something thicker and I KNOW I needed something with insulated arms - preferably long sleeves (this item has spandex sleeves and that's it).

After reading the reviews, I was torn about buying a size larger or the children's true size. I decided to go by the sizes recommended in the Amazon product description. I bought a purple medium and a blue x-large. They fit my children perfectly -- not too tight anywhere. My son is very thin, so it was a little looser on him but not noticeably so.

It's a good thing I didn't buy larger. The size chart in the description was spot on. Now, my children can swim and I don't feel guilty about sending them in for their lessons when the water temp is less than ideal.

We bought this for my son to keep him warm during his swim lessons. It has worked great. My only complaint is that when we bought it he was a true size 4. I hesitated to buy the next size up 6-8, which I thought would be too big. But, the 2-4 is probably more like a size 3 and is really too small for a size 4. We like it enough to buy another one in the next size.

Based on other reviews I bought a suit that was 1 size bigger. It's a little big on my son all over, though, he is fairly skinny for his age. Even with the extra room I notice that he no longer shivers at swim lessons in an indoor pool. I would recommend this suit.

On a different note. The suit has a smell to it that I can't seem to get rid of. It has a very strong spandex smell and no amount of swimming or washing it has had any effect on the smell. It has been this way since I opened it. The smell gets stronger when the suit is wet. Hopefully this is an isolated incident and not all the suits carry such a strong spandex smell.

I really don't know if this wetsuit would have kept my son warm if it was the right size. i had read some reviews that talked about the size 6-8 being tight around the legs for their skinny 5 year old. my 5 year old is 50% in height and weight and the size 6-8 is enormous for him. it may keep him a tiny bit warmer, but in 83 degree water he still freezes. i'm going to try the smaller size because i like the weight, style, and comfort of the suit in general. - Swimwear - Kids - Swimming - Thermal'

Replacement - wiper blade, outback

I got this to replace my 2007 Nissan Murano rear wiper blade after checking a few places around town. Everywhere store I looked at said they were going to have to order this part in. I checked amazon and found a great price and couldn't believe this - But I got it the very next day!!! (I paid for regular ground shipping) Installation was a little tricky (there were no instructions with the new blade), but a little research helped me out:

Replace the rear wiper:

1. Remove the black plastic piece that covers the wiper arm bolt. This plastic piece is right at the right angle where the wiper arm meets the motor shaft. This can be popped off just using your hand.

2. Once the plastic piece is removed, you can see a single #9 bolt that is holding the wiper arm onto the shaft. Remove it.

3. The arm will be FIRMLY in place. Once the bolt is removed the wiper arm will most likely still be stuck. You will need to firmly jiggle the arm for it to pop off. Please be careful not to apply too much force because the arm will break.

4. Once the arm has been removed you can turn the wiper to a 90 degree angle to the arm and it will pop off.

5. Replace the wiper blade with a new one. Note even though a 14" replacement looks larger it will still fit on the window. The new one will pop into place.

6. Replace the wiper arm onto the shaft and reinstall the bolt. Don't torque it down too much yet.

7. Once the arm is back on and the bolt is snug, go turn the wiper on and make sure that it is vertically in the right position. It should end up even on the window on both sides of the motion arc. If it is not, unscrew the bolt and move it a little.

8. Once it is in the right place, tighten the bolt down firmly, replace the black plastic piece, and you are good to go.

Good as new and soo much cheaper than having a dealer do it for you. Trico 14-B Exact Fit Rear Wiper Blade - 14"

This is the only rear wiper replacement I have found that will fit my Subaru Outback without going to the dealership. Otherwise, the only way to replace the wiper was to pull out the rubber strip and replace it with a new one. This conveniently replaces the entire part with no issues. I am sure the same goes for other makes and models as well.

Thank the good Lord for the internet! This blade was recommended and DOES fit the 2008 Suzuki SX4 Rear Wiper!!!!! And its bigger than the little OEM toy wiper that comes stock on the vehicle! Double kudos!

the exact replacement rear wiper i needed for my 2007 CR-V. fast delivery, fast and easy installation. i was pleasantly surprised that the entire process took me, literally, 10 seconds--that includes reading the instructions and removing the old wiper! just so happens it's raining today and the new wiper worked perfectly. all in all, an A+, from purchase to usage.

I'd been driving without the rubber part of my rear wiper blade for almost a year because finding the right match for my 2008 Honda Fit was next to impossible. This one is an exact match- I compared them side by side before installation. Getting the old one off without breaking the wiper arm was a pain... but installation of the new one is simple.

This wiper blade does fit the 2009 Honda Odyssey, the only problem is the blade is 2 inch shorter than the original blade in fact the original must be the Trico Exact fit blade because it looks like an exact copy only shorter.

Unfortunately this wiper did NOT work as an exact fit for my 2008 Honda Odyssey rear wiper. This wiper would not fit on the Odyssey's wiper arm... out of desperation I had to take the rubber blade out of the Trico assembly and fit it into the Honda OEM arm. - Outback - Honda Fit - Wiper Blades - Wiper Blade'
