Getpreparedstuf - camp stoves, cookware

We have this, but with a larger family, it is really slow going. Doing a LOT of food on a campout with lots of kids and hungry people -- you'll be cooking for a long time. Go for an item with higher BTU's that you can just crank up and get it done.... With a couple of people, okay to use, but it does take time to even just heat water. Plan for heat it up dishes that don't need cooking time. Coleman Two-Burner Propane Stove

Just wanted a small reliable unit for occasional camping trips; it is very compact, throws out plenty of heat; Pros are good price, brand name. Cons: not being able to store the propane bottle inside the box like older camping stoves, and you need a match or lighter. Other pricier models have ignitors built in. I like this item!

This review is based on a very limited use of this product, as it is new and the need for using it is not great. The stove is nicely designed and easy to set up. The gas feed tube screws onto the gas cylinder and then into the right side of the stove. Because of the design, only the squat 16.4 oz. tanks are usable, though it may be possible to obtain an adapter and hose to run the stove from refillable tanks. The proper disposable tank will not fit into the stove cabinet for travel, so fuel cylinders must be carried separately. This may be a problem for those who need maximum compactness. The throw-away cylinders may be undesireable for those who are carrying their equipment into remote regions that have no trash pickup service.

The stove lights easily with a match or other device and it meets my needs for heat output. The stove was purchased to allow flexibility during the time that our kitchen is remodeled. It was also bought as a backup cooking device, should we have an electrical outage. So far, so good. Amazon was good to its word on shipping and product description.

We go camping 10-20 times a year and this item was one of the best buy I have ever made. It reliable and durable. The stove isn't a new model but works just the same if not better. Anyone looking to find a GREAT BUY this would be it. You will not regreat it. We didn't!!! =-)

This stove is lightweight compared to the rest of the line, easy to clean, gets the job done and it's dependable. It's only problem is that the diameter of the burners is too small, you can't use 12" pots, and it doesn't have enough BTU's to boil water fast. Listen, if space is not an issue, get the Coleman 2 Burner Powerpack Stove. It's a couple of dollars more than this stove. It's quite a bit larger than this stove, and it's as nice as cooking on a gas stovetop at home. You can boil tons of water quick, saute calamari or scallops while you're camping if you're so inclined, or make pancakes for a mob of people on your Lodge Reversable Grill/Griddle. There's some trips I use a single burner backpack stove, and then the rest of the time I'm eatin' homefries and cheese omelette's. You could cook chicken marsala with portobello mushrooms and sage on the Powerpack stove. The stove I'm reviewing is a great stove, just not for a family.

I purchased this stove because of the frequent power failures we have had the last two months. This stove cooks food faster than our electric stove and has paid for itself by us not having to go out to eat. It is easy to use and gives us comfort knowing it is available should we need it.

We have had this camping stove for at least five years and it always works well. Never had a problem with it,

cooked all kinds of meals on it and it is easy to use. A must have item for family style camping.

My wife and I bought this stove a few years ago for a camping/hiking trip to Baxter State Park in Maine. I'd never used a portable stove before. With this product, we ate well. Pans got very hot quickly; meat was wonderfully seared. As advertised, water boiled amazingly fast - the second season we used it, in cool to cold late fall northern Maine temperatures. The dual burners allow for meals beyond canned food, and the wind shields work. The only weakness, that Coleman should fix, is that if the stove is not exactly on the level (rare at mountain campsites), pots and pans tend to slide off the burner, requiring finicky positioning or a non-burning implement to keep them in place. Still - a great product at a good price.

A newbie to this whole camping scene although when it came to this stove, I actually looked like I knew what I was doing! Did purchase a portable table designed for this stove so cooking on uneven ground was not a problem.

We did the coffee percolater gizmo in the morning and it boiled 9 cups of coffee in 7 minutes...faster than my drip coffee maker.

Very pleased. Again, being new at this maybe I impress to easily although I would say this stove was worth the money. - Cookware - Camp Stoves - Camping Stove - Coleman'

Macbook Battery - apple, battery

The product page says "one year warranty," and the battery failed (overheated, swelled up, and warped my Macbook) after just eight months. There's no way to contact either seller or manufacturer, though, even after contacting Amazon about it, so, after a runaround, I'm stuck waiting for a refund from Amazon that won't be processed until they receive the battery. I'll have to make a trip to the Apple store tomorrow to buy a new battery just to get up and running in the meantime. I won't be buying any more "fulfilled by Amazon" products; it's too much of a crapshoot, when they won't help customers get in touch with the sellers. Laptop Battery for Apple A1185 Macbook Pro 13" Series, Ma561g/a, Ma561ll/a (White)

it doesn't show the correct charge in the battery life monitors, i though it wasnt holding more than 5% of energy... but then I left it running with the charger cable unplugged and it did spend 2:30 hours to went off.. so, it is holding a little charge but it doesn't monitor it... tricky thing..

I was originally pleased with this battery until 2 weeks ago it refused to charge. Since then I have had to keep my cable plugged in to be able to use my mac. I have looked for a customer service email for this company and haven't found one. The product indicates that there is a 1 year warranty but if there isn't contact information what are you suppose to do? It would be nice if someone from this company would contact me. Thanks.

So it charged up a little ONCE, and then never again, so basically whatever charge it had in it, was pretty much all it ever had. i used it on the battery for a few minutes because I wanted to see how fast it charged up, and now it's not charging. At least my computer recognized it. i wish i had gotten an apple battery, would have been worth it.

I bought this as a replacement for my original MacBook battery which died after 3 years. I tried to save some money and not buy a genuine Apple Battery, what a waste of time. This one worked great for about a week, then this morning I tried to charge the drained battery but it wouldn't charge. I tried to restart the laptop a couple of times and it just kept saying battery not charging with the green light on my charger connector. I am returning it today. I won't waste my time with these off-brand batteries anymore. I'll have to bite the bullet and spend the big bucks for an Apple product.

Ordered this battery as a replacement for the original that had given up after 2 years. New battery was an exact match. Charged battery overnight and has been working great. I've only been using it for a little over a month but so far no problems. - White - Apple - Battery - Macbook'

Digital Audio Cable - ipod cable, digital audio cable

The price on this item was great, however when I tested it in my car with my iphone I found that it only works correctly if you do not move the cable/plugs while in use. After plugging it in, as soon as I moved my iphone to set it down the sound started to cut out. I then tried to test it by wiggling the plugs on both ends, and it appears that the plugs aren't sturdy enough to make a good connection with either device. I currently have a Dynex brand cable for my car for this purpose and it works great with no issues....when it is plugged in, no matter how much you move the cord or plugs the sound stays strong and doesn't cut out...it is much thicker and the plugs much sturdier than this cable which I believe to be the reason it works so much better. This cable was going to be for our boat stereo, however I went ahead and ordered the Dynex cable for just a couple dollars more and will trash this one....not worth sending back for the cost. Hope this information helps anyone who is considering buying this item. Professional Cable ST35MM-06 Stereo 3.5mm 6-ft M/M Cable - Black

Upon measuring the cord, I found that it was truly on 5 feet long, which isn't a big deal for my purposes, but may be an issue for others looking to purchase. Other than that, it is a good product at a good price.

I have had this now for a few weeks. The moment I took it out of the package and hooked it to my stereo i knew there was a problem. My reason for buying this was to use to connect my ipod to my stereo. At first I thought maybe a speaker was out. But no, i started to move the cord around when moving my ipod and the music was cutting in and out. Now I have to sit there and move it around until it finally works. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have extra time on your hands....

You know what they say, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". The cable is thick and the connections look substantial, but looks can be deceiving. The connections are poor, resulting in that awful crackling sound that is made while you twist the connection trying to get the sound to come through clearly. I tried it with two different IPods and the problem remained. For the price, less than $3.00, it was not an expensive mistake, but it was still a mistake.

These cables do not work well. When I took it out of the package I was not impressed with the thickness of the wire. They seem very cheaply made. Considering the price, I guess it's not surprising. It wouldn't be a big deal if the cable actually worked. The sound is intermittent when connecting my mp3 player to my car stereo. The wire needs to be bent a certain way for the sound to work. I will be throwing it away and purchasing a different cable.

Works just as i wanted to. I have a cable like this before but it wasnt long enough so i got this in a longer length. I connect my computer to the back of my Sony Bravia 40" HDTV and I have an optic cable from my tv to my Sony 7.1 AV receiver so i get the surround sound from my receiver for all the programs i run on my computer. Lots of different uses for this cable, not just for headphones, ipods or mp3s. Enough said.

I bought this so I could connect my MP3 play to my vehicle's sound system. The cord feels durable even though it seems "thin". The rubber feels very strong, but it is flexible unlike thicker, traditional audio cords, which allows for easier folding to get it out of the way. The sound quality is superb through it. - Audio Cables - Cable Connectors - Digital Audio Cable - Ipod Cable'

Printer Cartridge - epson 69 ink cartridge, printer cartridge

I was searching for genuine Epson ink replacement for my Workforce 610.I've gotten burnt buying from unknown sources [i.e. getting ink cartridges that were close to the expiration]. Found the best price at Amazon.com and i got free super saver shipping to boot.Received it fast and its expiration is two years from now. Amazon.com has earned my trust time and time again. Epson DURABrite Ultra Ink Cartridges (68) - Dual Pack High-Capacity Black (T068120-D2)

Epson has constructed their printers so that they will not work at all after the printer memory decides that the ink is low. Who knows how many pages could be printed until the cartridge is actually empty. The Epson ink works well. No problems with an inoperable cartridge so far. Ink flow starts easily and dries quickly without smudging. However, it seems to me that there is not much ink in the cartridge as compared to my old HP printer cartridges. I am buying the "68" size since the smaller "69" doesn't last long enough to even be worth considering. My advice is to buy the HP printer, but if you already have the Epson you are stuck. The positive side is the cartridge works very well and you will be changing them frequently (which is very easy to do).

that doesn't last very long. High-capacity lasts longer than standard, but if I could do it again, I would never have bought an Epson printer. There no way to use third party products and the ink is expensive.

I've always ordered from Epson but decided to give Amazon a try to save some money. I was VERY pleased. It was the same quality I purchased from Epson, but the prices were much better. I was able to get free shipping through Amazon whenever I needed to order but I had to wait for special offers from Epson for free shipping....and often needed it when there were no free shipping offers.

I've owned Epson printers for years and the biggest reason is the low cost of re-inking. Some brands will make you spend obscene amounts for new ink cartridges, sometimes well in excess of the cost of the printer itself. The price I received here was much cheaper than going down to my local office supply store. I even got free shipping.

The Epson print quality has always been outstanding as well. The Durabright Ink gives wonderful color renditions and seems to last without fading throughout the years. I am still impressed at the very first Epson prints I made from my first 1 megapixel digital camera. They still look as good as the day I printed them. I'm very happy with my Epson products.

Okay, so I give into the little voice saying "you should only buy GENUINE Epson inks" eventhough I know the quality is "good enough" and the price is way better with the knock offs.

Buy the double pack of black and what happens? TEN PAGES PRINTED; that's it, no more, no big black backgrounds, just standard stuff and the Black quits on me.

Shake it, bake it, beg it to print and I get NADA, ZERO, GOOSE EGG, DONUT.

20 years of using Epson products with relatively little hassle BUT NEVER AGAIN!!

Where's that website for HP?

Works as expected. It's an Epson-brand cartridge, and I use it in an Epson printer. Like all the other inkjet cartridges, it's a huge ripoff. I only have an inkjet for occasional color printing, but my workhorse is a Brother network laser. MUCH cheaper to operate, MUCH faster, and very reliable. If you mostly do black and white printing or text, the monochrome laser will pay for itself compared to the black ink cartridges you'll go through.

I brought this item because I do a lot of printing. I must say I've had no problems with it and I've used it 1 month straight so far. Installation was also a breeze. My printer recognized the catridge and I was off to priniting. No complaints over here. - Epson High Capacity Ink - Inkjet Printer - Epson 69 Ink Cartridge - Printer Cartridge'

Norelco Razor Battery - norelco razor battery, norelco

They are advertising Sanyo battery at the higher price, but sent me generic one, that generic-knockoffs probably made in China. Look for the Sanyo on eBay. They are cheaper there and hold the charges in your shaver much better. And they are 700mAH instead of 600mAH. Amazon should be looking into such practice, when seller advertised products with pictures of brand but sells generic instead.

Shaver Razor Battery Pack fits most electric shavers

The battery definitely seems to hold a charge longer than the original did. Some soldering skills are needed to replace the battery but it's only the two connections on the battery itself. I'm very glad that I replaced the battery instead of buying a whole new trimmer.

Wonderful little addition to my old beard trimmer. My old battery was done and would not hold a charge at all, i used a simple soldering iron and unsoldered the old battery from its tabs and re-soldered the new battery into its place, a good charge later and i can notice my trimmer has more power and holds a charge wonderfully. Excellent product

This is a general comment about some Braun shaver batteries, I am NOT reviewing this particular battery. I gave it 5 stars to not taint it with anything lower since I don't know this exact battery.

Obviously the trick it to figure out which battery you need and that is not easy, both voltage and physical size, and maybe mAh are important. Then you need special soldering tools and some experience to replace it without damaging the PC board. I think you need a battery with tabs or leads already soldered onto the new battery, although some people have had luck unsoldering the old battery and leaving the old leads soldered onto the PC board. That has the advantage that it could avoid overheating the PC board which could occur by unsoldering the old leads (and new battery leads) at the PC board itself. However in my case the new battery sucked too much heat away and also would not tin properly, so I recommend you find a battery with leads then unsolder the old battery from the PC board itself on both ends. Do not unsolder the leads from either the old or new battery, just get the PC board holes free from solder and insert the new battery. This requires a "solder sucker" to remove the solder quickly after it is molten.

To find a battery at a battery online store, try searching for "AA solder" or leads or shaver battery or...

I just replaced the single 1.2v AA size NiMh battery in my Braun 5414 (same as 5415) and it works fine now. It was tricky to remove the many small screws especially at the top to disassemble the case.

For the Braun 5414 I bought this 1.2v NiMh 1300 mAh battery for [...] + shipping. It is described as razor-17 Dantona:

[...]

But I don't know why this AA size 2000 mAh from Thomas Distributing wouldn't work as well for only [...]. It doesn't show voltage and size but says it is "AA" so it must be 1.2v and the same physical size. Thomas is famous for selling Maha battery chargers and many batteries also:

Search for "AA solder" or go to:

[...]

Now I don't know if using a 2000 mAh instead of a 1300 mAh would be a problem. It seems to me that as long as both are 1.2v (in my case) that they would both be fine. The larger mAh would take longer to charge but hold the charge longer it would seem. I don't see why it would provide too much current and damage anything. Perhaps others have opinions?

Also here are some resources with a set of Braun shavers numbers that go to 1 of only 3 battery sets:

[...]

and pictures of all shaver batteries:

[...]

One more thing, not related to shaver batteries... Sanyo batteries are probably made in Japan!!! At least their famous Eneloop batteries I just bought are, which are a great option for AA NiMH batteries in general (digital cameras etc) as they are a new technology that do not have the self-discharge problem. They would be especially good for use in gadgets you don't use a lot and don't recharge a lot which is an issue with NiMh in general. In my case it is my Wii game controllers. Sanyo claims that most NiMh batteries will discharge to 0% after 1 year compared to 85% charge remaining on the eneloop batteries. The downside is this technology is presently limited to lower mAh, currently 2000 mAh and not the 2650 mAh of other brands using the regular technology. But then again the Eneloop type doesn't lose their charge like the regular ones so you may not have a fully charged battery like you think you do and it won't provide the full 2650 mAh over time. Also get the Sanyo charger or any other one that is a slow charge (like 200 ma) and not a "quick 1 hour charger" (too much current will damage battery) or worse yet a cheap charger that is simply timed and not a smart microprocessor charger. - Replacement Battery - Norelco - Norelco Razor Battery'

Ipad 2 Accessories

Beautifully crafted top quality leather case which fits the functionality of the iPad 2 perfectly. Everything is fully accessible and the iPad is completely protected. This is the top-of-the-line iPad 2 case for business use or the busy student. The iPad 2 is fully functional in every case position and there are no problems with operation in any case position. To me, the Amazon product description is quite modest as this product has more going for it as it is designed perfectly, I'll just add that I was amazed and happy to see it is exactly what I wanted: An exceptionally crafted leather case for the iPad 2 that doesn't get in the way of the great iPad 2 features. I easily give full five stars to this excellent product. It also puts the Apple magnetic cover to shame. (PS: If your cover turns off the iPad as the video indicates, just go to settings and turn off the auto-on/off feature.) Snugg iPad 2 Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand for the Apple iPad 2 (Black)

I wanted a full body protection for my iPad2 & the magnetic cover that Apple came out with didn't look like it provided much protection. I had some reservations about ordering this cover but now I'm sure I made the right purchase. I've done some moderate research on all of the up & coming 3rd party covers for the iPad2 & this one seemed to provide the best protection as well as good form & function. The flap cover has magnets & it works as far as turning the iPad2 off & on. The leather is still a bit stiff (since it's new) so mine doesn't line up perfectly with the internal magnets in the iPad2. Sometimes I have to give it a small nudge so the magnets align so it will turn off. I didn't know that the cover had a magnets so this was an extra surprise. I'm not sure if this will loosen up eventually. One thing you should be aware of is that when you completely flip the cover all the way back so that the magnets are on the back side, it actually puts the iPad2 in sleep/off mode. I thought I had a faulty iPad because it turned off when I was reading or surfing the web but it was actually the magnets.

About the only nick pick I have is that the leather on the top part is not completely flat. When I turn on the camera for Photobooth or FaceTime part of the leather can be partially seen so I have to push it down to get it out of the way. Again, when the leather eventually softens up this may or may not be an issue. If I can add one thing it would be a stylus holder. I do some sketching and handwriting so it would be nice to have a small holder for that.

This is a very nice case for the iPad 2. It's not that easy to find good iPad 2 cases (although it is getting easier as more are coming out). I, too, researched a lot before I decided on this one. And the reviews on Amazon really helped me make up my mind, so I wanted to add my voice to the reviews to help others. To sum up what I will explain in more detail below, this case is nice looking, well made and versatile. It is a cover that you can use for business or pleasure and that can serve many different purposes. It fits the iPad 2 perfectly and provides needed protection for it. There are a few minor things I might change about it in a perfect world, but it is such a great value for all that it does, those are not worth removing a star from this five-star (in my opinion) product. I've seen my friends iPad cases (some of which are very pricey), and I think this is as nice as all of them and nicer than almost all of them.

They have obviously fixed the magnet issue (where your iPad is turned off when the cover is flipped to the back). It does not, however, now magnetically secure the case when it's flipped back now -- only when it is closed. I wish it did magnetically secure when the cover is flipped back, but they probably had to disable that feature to prevent it from placing the iPad 2 in sleep mode like earlier reviewers warned about. It definitely does not have that problem now, as I've opened it and put the cover back various ways, and it never went into sleep mode. It works like the iPad 2 cover when it is closed -- placing the device in sleep mode. I didn't want Apple's iPad 2 cover because it didn't seem that great to me as it only protected the front and didn't have a handle. It just seemed overpriced for what it did. I think the fact it put the iPad 2 in and out of sleep mode was appealing to a lot of people. But the Snugg does that, too, and it offers a LOT better protection and is a better value.

This also serves as a fabulous stand for when you want to watch Netflix or other show apps on it. At first I thought my cover had a crease in it, but then I realized that line was so it can bend (like a triangle) to serve as a flip stand. It has a little leather tab on the back cover, and the cover edge securely fits in the tab so it makes a very secure and good looking stand. Very nice. It also is nice to use to elevate your iPad 2 when you are typing on the screen. Instead of standing it on the narrow bottom so it is sitting up like TV, you place it so that the tab and back cover are on the bottom. That elevates the screen a little for typing. It would also serve as a great stand (sitting up tall or just elevated) if you use Apple's wireless keyboard. I got the Logitech keyboard for work use, so I don't normally use my Snugg at the office (as the Logitech and the Snugg don't work together). I tend to use this at home to protect my Snugg when I'm using it to read books or to surf the web. But I could use it at the office, too, as it is very professional looking.

It also has a handle on inside cover, so when you fold the cover back, you can place your hand through the elastic handle on the back to hold it securely. This is another nice feature not every cover has. It's a little awkward to hold because (1) it no longer has the magnetic back clasp to secure it tightly when it is open and (2) it can move a little when you are holding it because for it to fit like a book cover, it has a narrow binder that can move a little as you hold it. But it remains secure while you grasp it with the handle and a lot of cases don't have that handle, so I like that feature even though I am still figuring out which is the best way for me to hold it. The elastic band that another reviewer mentions another cover having would be a nice addition to this as it does shift when you are holding it with the handle. I think when they first made this, the fact the magnets worked both ways secured it. But since that no longer is the case since that was putting the device in sleep mode, an elastic band would be nice. It's hard for me to envision how they would do this and keep it as aesthetically pleasing as it is, however, so that is not a reason for me to remove a star.

This is a good looking case. I like that it is made of leather. It's black leather with white stitching and is professional looking (as noted above) and not flashy. I'm not a big fan of flashy. I love that it serves as a smart cover, as stated above, putting your iPad 2 in sleep mode and waking it up as you close and open it. I would prefer for the cover not to be embossed with the "Snugg" logo. It would be nicer without that in my opinion. For the price, this is a fabulous value and a nicely made case. I'm glad I got it, and I recommend it to others.'

Gang Recessed Plate

This is a great product! But if you are running a lot of wires, like I did, then I recommend you buy the double gang plate. I ran my surround sound(12 gauge), 3 HDMI cables, 1 TOS link, 1 coax, and 1 Cat 6 cable and barely had enough room.

Someone mentioned that you cannot do this without having back access or a new build. That is false. Just need to take your time when cutting the wall and boring through the studs. DataComm 45-0001-WH 1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate (White)

I mounted a TV on the wall of my kitchen and was looking for an inexpensive way to hide the wires. This is ideal.

It's simple to install. You just need two of these and two low voltage brackets like this: Arlington LV1-1CS Single Gang Low Voltage Mounting Bracket Device You use a stud finder to make sure you're not looking to put this in a stud, and then use a drywall saw to cut the hole. Repeat to put the one down below. (Use a level to ensure they're straight.) Insert the low voltage mounting bracket in both the upper and lower and then put the plate on the upper one. Start fishing cables through the wall. (It's easier to leave the plate off the lower one until you fish all the wires out of the wall first.)

Through a one-gang plate, I have an HDMI cable, a VGA cable, a set of composite cables with sound, a 1/8" headphone jack cable, and a network cable. It's tight, but everything fits.

Order these plates. You won't be disappointed.

This is a simple cover plate for a wall hole that provides a neat, orderly way to feed cables from your Home Theater system into the wall, or out of the wall at the TV Monitor location. It lets you buy one, long set of cables, rather than one set for inside the wall and two patch sets for home theater receiver to the wall, and wall to TV monitor. If you have more than one type of connection, this will make your install much less expensive!

Things to know:

1. You will need TWO, if you are going to use a single set of cables!

2. You will need a old-work, low-power wall box for each one purchased. You can get these for $1-3 each (depending on style) at your local "Big-Box" hardware store. (Check both the electrical area and the home networking areas to find both styles.)

3. When planning your installation, recognize that the clump of wires coming out of the wall will not make many wives happy! Plan to have both boxes hidden by the TV or Home theater cabinet.

4. If moving connections horzintally from one wall location to another, you are likely to run into one or more studs. If you do not have experience with blind drilling large holes, you will be much happier taking the cables into the attic or crawl space in one stud space, and back into the wall at the new stud space.

The product is as shown. It's bright white, sleek, with a nice sized, deep opening to send many wires through. I have 5-14 gauge wires and an HDMI cord running through mine with plenty of room to spare. (Uses about 1/2 the space available.)

The down side: it is only the face plate with no mounting bracket. so to mount it to stay on the wall, you either need an outlet box, or buy the metal low voltage mounting brackets at Home Depot for about $1/ea. However, it is still cheaper than buying the whole assembly at Home Depot for 3x the price.

[...]

What can you really say about a cable plate? Apparently enough to warrant a review! This is THE item you need to finish off your wall-mount tv installation. I purchased two of these, one to go behind the tv, and the other at the level of the power outlet below. It's easy as pie.

If you're doing a wiring job where you have bare wires going through a wall, this is the thing to get. Looks great. I did a speaker wire installation and wanted the wires come out of the wall directly and this was the perfect way to do that.'
