Digital Camera Battery - canon, digital camera battery

I bought two of these to have as backup batteries on my Canon S90. For the last three weeks of heavy use (6000+ pics), I've had nothing but great results. The batteries perform exactly the same at the OEM Canon versions. I've even accidentally put both of them through the washer and dryer and they still work perfectly. I rarely rate anything 5-stars on here, but these batteries definitely deserve them. You simply can't beat the performance for this price. This battery size is actually 1.72x1.26x0.31 which is too wide to fit my Canon SD1200 IS, or its charger. The battery that I received was actually marked "for nikon en-el12" and was only wrapped in "acd-291 Canon nb-6l" label and placed like that in the plastic box. Waste of time and money if you're looking for Canon SD1200 IS battery. The size of the original canon nb-6l battery that came with the camera is 1.65x1.355x0.27.

This battery lasts just as long as the original. Unfortunately it's too big for the SD1200IS. It fits in, but it takes a bit of forcing. Guess I should have known better. When it came time to remove it it wouldn't come out. The canon battery simply slid right out, but this one I literally had to pry the top open and use needle nose pliers to grab the piece I pried open and pull the battery out. I'm luck I didn't break my new camera. Amazon needs to let uesrs know that this is not an aftermarket replacement for the NB-6L. It make work ok in some cameras, but it absolutely is not the same size as the original and at least in the sd1200 it WILL NOT work and could harm your camera.

This battery lasts just as long as the original product battery and charges very quickly. With this price there is no real excuse to run out of juice while on a long trip or while using as a camcorder.

I was torn between the Canon name brand battery and this one. I chose to try this one as my back-up battery and it works great! I took it to California to a few themeparks and it never let me down. It easily lasted the full day in the park with over 150 pictures taken and the camera constantly getting turned off and on. You won't regret choosing this battery as a back-up to the Canon battery that comes with the camera.

I purchased this battery as an additional battery when I ordered my new camera. I didn't want to be caught with a picture opportunity, a dead battery, and no spare.

I've just returned from a vacation where the number of photographs that I took was sufficient to require swapping out and recharging batteries a number of times. I am very pleased to say that I saw no difference in the performance of this additional battery when compared to that of the original from Canon. I could take the same number of pictures and it took that same time to charge. Whether it will retain its performance for the same number of recharges as the original as it gets older is something only time will tell, but, for the present, I am very satisfied.

The newer Canon PowerShots use the slightly larger NB-6L battery rather than the earlier generation NB-4. I needed extras, so I ordered several including the MaximalPower. The battery I received from Amazon was black, not white like the picture, but it fit my new Canon SD4000-IS fine. However, the camera goes haywire when this battery is loaded -- powers on but won't power off, buttons don't function, etc. At first I thought the camera was defective, then quickly figured out that it worked fine with both its original Canon battery and the Digipower NB-6L I also bought from Amazon. The MaximalPower obviously is not supplying the correct power to the camera. Order the Digipower instead if you are looking for a Canon NB-6L. Tivo Expander - tivo hd, esata

this is a great dvr expander, it is easy to install,took 15 minutes including the reboot. you will be able to record a lot more hd movies than they claim in the advertisement. i allready recorded 146 HD movies and only used 38 percent of the harddrive, i believe i will get 300 HD movies on the expander without going past 80 percent. My DVR's internal storage was okay for standard def programming but when I updated to HD programming, it was woefully too small to handle this. So, I purchased this unit to provide additional capacity.

The unit couldn't be easier to install. Just turn off your DVR, plug the Expander into the port on the unit using the included cable. Then power the DVR back on.

The DVR will then "see" the new storage area and will be available for use. Note, your internal storage is no longer visible to the DVR. This means all of your stored programming, TO-DO scheduling, and guide info will no longer be available. You will have to rebuild your scheduling and wait for the guide to populate over the next day or so, just like if you got a new DVR. You can always uninstall the Expander later if you want to access the internal drive.

The payoff is loads of storage space. I had 3 pages of programming saved before my free space dropped by 1%.

The unit works great, exceeding my expecations. The only complaint I have is the Expander unit makes the typical external hard drives noises and can be heard chunking away when the tv volume is low. However, overall, I would recommend this unit to anyone needing to have a lot of space for a DVR with a small internal drive.

This product is great. I connected to the DIRECTV H24, the newest DVR from DIRECTV. No problems recognizing the drive. Just hate you can't switch from the DVR internal drive to the DVR expander. But the only thing you have to do is turn the power button off on the DVR expander and restart the satellite and it connects to DIRECTV internal drive. It's great to have that extra hard drive space. Badge Holders - badge holders, chp

Better think twice about carrying one of these. Flashing a badge when you're a civilian, even to save yourself from friendly fire, is a felony is most jurisdictions and will land you in prison and empty your savings account pronto. As a retired law enforcement officer, I can tell you that the vast majority of police officers have a negative view of these CWP badges. Concealed Carry Badge and Wallet

A CCW permit is a card similar to a driver's license. A badge isn't part of it. I can't see a legit reason to carry a gold badge saying CCW when the badge isn't recognized as proof. Unless someone wants to represent themselves as a cop or feels some rush when they flash this fake badge. It should come with a highway patrolman hat and spurs.

CCW has a real purpose. It is a serious responsibility. This product is for a mall cop wannabes.

The package amounts to a pretty good set. Badge and wallet are quality products that will satisfy many and perhaps even most buyers I feel sure. But for me the set consists of more bulk than I want to carry. If I were designing the set I would create a flat badge rather than one that is convex. And I would make the wallet smaller and softer.

People who are licensed carriers are not police officers who will be pulling out a badge day in and day out. Chances are that carriers will never display it. So why would anyone want to carry a badge & wallet set that necessitates a substantial pocket of its own?

If the user is a woman who carries weapon and badge in a purse, this badge/wallet combination is just fine. I am not, so I prefer something lighter that doesn't take up as much space.

My solution: I clipped the badge inside an old, soft, thin and well-used wallet that has space for license and ID. The resulting package will be effective in the unlikely event that I must use it, while at the same time being unobtrusive and easy to carry.

If you carry this in the wallet and someone sees it, it should give them relief, better than them seeing a gun imprinted on your waist. Even though I prefer to have the badge clipped to my belt instead. I read comments about the only one who would want this is a wanna be lol, being a cop isnt a glorious job, its actually underpaid. I work in the health field which is alot more stable. This would be perfect for someone like me or you in a grocery store, who has there weapon on their waist under a shirt, and while reaching to get something off the shelf, the shirt rises. Now some bozo is gonna see your weapon freak out, and call the police. Instead with one of these badges clipped beside your weapon on your belt. The bozo would be at ease, and go about their business. Nobody is going around saying wear this on your shirt, and play vigilante with it. Ideally this would be hidden just like your weapon. A DEA agent told me this btw. Heck you could go to a surplus store and buy a shirt, vest, and hat that says POLICE or SWAT, and their is nothing illegal about that until you start trying to stop crimes. It's not at bad idea to have one of these badges, but it's certainly not necessary, but when those police respond and make a scene and treat you like a criminal in the middle of walmart or your local mall because your weapon got exposed or the imprint of it was seen, and some bozo with a blackberry calls and says there is a man or woman in the store with a gun, you might wish you had one to deter them from making that call.

Jewelry Organizer - earring holder, bracelet

This jewelry holder was supposed to have 48 holes for earrings. 12 holes in four rows. The holder I received had 9 holes in 3 rows or a total of 27. Odd, given that ears come in even numbers. It would not even stand up without needing to bend the feet. And to my surprise I had a much bigger shipping fee and shipping time than I originally expected. Definitely not worth the money. I purchased two of these jewelry holders, one for my daughter and one for myself. We are able to organize our jewelry really easy now, and hang the most-used jewelry on these holders since you can easily access them on it. The holder is actually smaller than it appears, but it can fit a lot of jewelry (we even use the loops on the top for bracelets). Large earrings are a problem though because they hang so low and wide. But the jewelry holder is nice in appearance, too, so on a night table top it looks really good with all the jewelry.

Although it was impeccably wrapped and packaged, a piece was still bent upon arrival. I thought it was a bit pricey for what I paid once I saw the stand. It holds almost all of my dangly earrings and necklaces, but I had to overlap several necklaces. It's alright, good jewelry stands are just difficult to find. It does the job.

This was cute and was exactly what i was looking for. The only problems were that it wasn't level. It wabbles back and forth. The other problem is that the shipping and handling was very pricy. It was too pricy in my opinion

I paid $25 for this item and do not feel it was anywhere near worth that much. The welding work is of extremely poor quality. There are holes that have no apparent purpose and look like maybe slips of the soldering tool. The bars are attached crooked and it wobbles on its feet. It does what I need it to do, though, which is keep my earrings organized so that's why I gave it 3 stars. It's just not as pretty as it could be solely because of the flaws in assembly. The material is actually very sturdy. So sturdy that I'm nervous to bend the feet to make it not wobble so I will try adding felt pads to them instead. I cannot recommend this product because in my opinion the workmanship is shoddy but if all you're looking for is utility then it works just fine.

I looked for a while to find a jewelry stand that would hold both earrings and necklaces, and I'm pleased with this one. (I also keep rings and bracelets on the scrollwork on the top.) The earring rows are a little close together if you have really long earrings, but I just staggered them when I needed to. Also, the product I received is exactly what is shown in the picture and described; I didn't have the problem others have had with the number of holes being wrong.

My only complaint is the quality. The stand is very wobbly, and it's not a pliable enough metal for me to confidently bend it into shape. However, I put a foam pad on only one corner, and it's fairly stable now, so I'm not too worried about it.

Overall: not the best quality, but functional and attractive.

The jewelry stand was exactly what I expected and it fit all my jewelry perfectly. However, there was one problem. It was a little wobbly, but it's nothing that a bench can't fix. I'm happy with my purchase.

It's a little shoddy when it comes to craftsmanship, but only if you stare at it. The legs are a little wobbly, but I intend to take them off anyway so I can hang it on the wall. If I didn't hang it on the wall, the stand would be too short for my necklaces.

Image Stabilization - lens, 55-200mm

This lens is sharp even at wide apertures, the VR (image stabilization) works great, autofocus speed is more than acceptable, and it it is very light and compact. The fact that it costs $250 and has effective VR is pretty amazing - no other company offers a lens with this feature for anywhere near this price.

As for image quality, search the various internet photo sites, such as dpreview and nikonians for sample photos taken with this lens by real users. The results are impressive! My copy produces similar results. The previous reviewer must have a bad sample.

Of course, the lens is slow (like almost all consumer zoom lenses), in that its widest aperture is smaller than a professional zoom or prime lens, so it's not a good choice for action photography in lower light conditions (like indoor sports without flash or outside sports at dusk). But a fast telephoto zoom will cost at least three times as much and weigh a ton.

I give the lens 5 stars based on a combination of image quality, value, and compactness/lightness. Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens

I had the 55-200mm non VR version for about 5 months, sold it to essentally recover my cost, and bought the VR version as a replacement. The non VR version was very compact and light, and produced excellent photos, but the slightly larger VR version is so much more usable I don't miss the other lens at all. The VR works as advertised and allows me to take pictures at 3 times or more lower shutter speeds than the non VR version. While I would love the 18-200mm VR for the convenience, I will never be able to justify the $750 price, so my 18-55mm kit lens and this lens will likely cover my needs as long as I own my camera. I also seriously considered the 70-300mm VR, but couldn't accept twice the price for only 50% more reach. And at twice the length of the 55-200mm non VR version, it would be too awkward for me to carry around. I am very satisfied with this 55-200mm VR lens and if you are considering it, please give it a try. You will not be dissapointed.

My Nikon ownership goes back over 30 years to the days when cameras were made of metal and carrying one with a few lenses tested your stamina.

Times sure have changed. There's hardly a metal camera to be found and you can carry a bag full of equipment in one hand. The Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor is the latest lightweight from this heavyweight of the camera industry.

Plastic construction right down to its lens mount. This thing looks and feels like the label should say Fisher Price and not Nikon. However, looks can be deceiving as I soon found out.

My only reason for buying this lens was that I needed to fill a void in my kit until I saved up enough for a 70-200mm f2.8. I had no intention of keeping the 55-200 VR once the 70-200 arrived.

After shooting with the 55-200 for a few months I've come to appreciate what it can do. It's limited to use in good light as even VR can't change the laws of physics. In this case, it's not even the current VR-II but the original VR that Nikon developed a few years ago.

With sufficient light and good technique, the 55-200 is capable of very good performance. No, it's not as sharp and contrasty as the 70-200. It's also not going to survive the bad weather or a few solid knocks that professional use would expose it to.

Where the 55-200 excels is in its portability and above average performance. For travel or just walking around, it would be hard to beat this lens if it's used within its limits. I use mine on a D80 and have no problem getting excellent 13x19" prints.

As an added bonus, it works very well with the Nikon CL3T closeup lens and does double duty as a macro zoom. Again, it's not a substitute for a real macro zoom like the Nikon 70-180, but it's not intended to be.

Given my original opinion of this lens, I have to admit that I've gotten much more than my money's worth out of it. Instead of selling it, I'm going to keep it and use it when my 70-200 is just to big and heavy to carry around.

If you're on a budget or just want a nice, lightweight lens in this range, take a look at the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR. Like me, you may be very much surprised at what it can do.

If you looking for something relatively inexpensive and fun to carry around, this is the lens for you. Quality is good in good light, most of the time, and can be exceptional sometimes. The plasticy feel doesn't bother me because I avoid carrying around a hunk of metal.

The VR works like a charm in good light.

However, I've noticed softness (at all apertures) often enough where I would not use this lens for any professional work. For example, the Nikkor 180 f/2.8 blows this lens away in quality of manufacture and resulting photos.

I've also noticed softness and noise in almost all of my night photos using this lens, even with a very heavy tripod and no wind.

The focusing system on the lens also is slow as molasses. I tried to capture the Blue Angels flying low over the homes in my neighborhood (an awesome annual occurence), and each shot was blown as the lens hunted for focus. Plenty of good light for high shutter speeds (midday, 1/2500s at f/4), but by the time the lens was focused, the subject had moved so far the photo was blown.

If you want to have fun and need a good lens, buy this one. If you are a professional or OBAM (obessessed amateur), save for the higher quality lenses because you'll be disappointed.

I wish more people would objectively weigh the positives and the negatives in their reviews so that those considering buying this lens can make an informed decision. External Storage - external storage, seagate

I got this with one purpose in mind - to get the MP3s off my hard drive. (Seagate apparently wants me to use it for movies - more on that below). I have so far found it to perform flawlessly, with a few caveats:

Pros:

- My laptop (WinXP) treats it like another hard drive, so I can drag-and-drop stuff directly onto my player, and can extract winzip files on the drive to another directory on the drive, and move stuff around in general.

- It runs off the USB power, so no need for a power cord

- The upload transfer speed (USB2) from my internal hard drive is just over a gig a minute for MP3s - I moved 18gb of music, in files of between 2 and 5 megs each, in just over 17 minutes, and 5 gig of audiobooks, in zip files of up to 300meg, in 4.5 minutes. This may change as the disk gets more fragmented.

Cons:

This isn't so much an external drive as an internal drive in a case. The "GoFlex" connector (which is not shown in the pictures) is a bus-to-USB adapter, and other adapters are available (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Upgrade Cable USB 3.0 - STAE104). This is great for sharing files, and perhaps for eventually putting multiple drives in a jukebox or desk brick, but it means there's a third bit of electronics between the USB cable and the drive, with all the potential for loss and breakage that implies. The connection was already a tiny bit wobbly right out of the box, though I note that the snaps are metal, not plastic, which does mitigate. (The drive says "Made in Thailand and assembled in China" Sheesh).

I decided not to install the backup software, so can't comment on that.

Movies:

Seagate wants you to use this drive for movies (and one of the GoFlex adapters will output directly to a compatible TV). And to this end, my drive came preloaded with about 45 gig of movies from Paramount. They're not free, however, just preloaded, with a promise of a free Star Trek: Reboot if you register the drive.

I did redeem the Star Trek movie (a short series of hoops, including agreeing to share my data with "third-party vendors", two different EULAs - from Seagate and Paramount, a DRM agreement from Microsoft, and registration on the Paramount site in case I want to buy more). I note that the movies seem to be $10 or $15 each, that they don't include any bonus materials (unlike my Star Trek DVD), and that "buying" a movie gets you three "licenses" - trying to play ST:R from the same Seagate drive on another laptop spawned a pop-up asking if I wanted to download another license, so I guess the licenses are associated with the individual computer, not the drive. (In a further loss of geek creds, the registration software automatically popped up IE as the browser.)

Tried to sum up all the features in the title. Definitely worth going for. Seems USB3 is catching trend and expect new laptops to support the USB3 connections. Even if your present laptop has only USB2, you can use this drive. The drive comes with a sata to usb3 adaptor and a single cable(usb3 connector for HDD and USB2 for your laptop). I connect to my USB2 laptop and get a read speed of 28-30MB/s and write of 13-15MB/s. Which is the same speed for all the external portable HDDs. You can definitly get the USB3 speed by using a USB3 adaptor for your laptop.

Tip. Seagate drives are a little costlier as compared to Western Digital. But they come with the flexibility of connectors (firewire, usb3 etc each for $15-25). Also, I read the WD usb3 drive is capable of ~105MB/s read speed and seagate is merely 78MB/s (cnet reviews havent tested myself).

After only 6 weeks of use and no noteworthy physical trauma, this drive failed catastrophically, corrupting most of the data on it in the process. I wish I listened to the voice in my head saying, "Hmm, this doesn't seem very sturdy," when I took it out of the box, but I instead used it as planned for housing files I need at home and at the digital lab that I use for work. As another reviewer observed, this hard drive had an annoying spontaneous ejecting habit. My real problem was when it imploded - with a backup in progress - after less than 2 months of use. It was functioning normally one minute and then the drive's light started blinking and my computer was unable to recognize it. We tried the drive in another enclosure and hooked to a linux computer that usually will recognize even corrupted drives. Nothing. The data recovery lab I ultimately sent it to had to replace multiple "physically damaged" components to restore functionality and found more than half of the data was in fact corrupted. Mind you, this drive had never been dropped and travelled primarily in a protective camera bag. Call me crazy, but I think that a drive billed as "ultra-portable" should be able to withstand a few weeks of regular desktop use and the occasional commute. Do not recommend.

Note: I have a few older Seagate external hard drives (different models) that I've used for 1-2 years without incident. I've travelled extensively with them and had nothing but good things to say. That's why I went with Seagate on this one. I might even have been able to forgive the company its obvious construction and quality departure on this line but for the nightmarish customer service experience I had with Seagate after the drive crashed. Recipricating Saw - demolition, reciprocating saws

This is a great saw for the homeowner. That having been said, I might as well get rid of the negatives first. The only real negatives I've seen are:

(a) It's made in Mexico. I don't have much of a problem with this, but it might be a little jolting to some to buy the DeWalt name, just to find out the tool was not made in the US.

(b) It doesn't seem as heavy-duty as the Sawzall models. If I were a working carpenter depending on this saw day in and day out, I'd probably buy the Milwaukee. But for the typical homeowner like me, this saw seems perfectly adequate.

The positives:

(a) It seems to be a solid, well-built machine.

(b) The four-way blade chuck is a very nice feature. It's very handy for cutting in different directions. I believe that seasoned carpenters wouldn't need this feature as often, as they are used to using their saws every which direction. But, again, for us homeowners it's great.

(c) The price-performance is excellent. You'd have to pay twice as much to get a Sawzall with the capability in the previous item. I love tools, but I can't justify the extra expense given that I'll only use it now and then.

(d) It weighs about the same as the equivalent Sawzall model, and less than the Sawzall that lets you cut in different directions.

As somebody else noted, it only comes with one blade (a metal cutting one). So make sure you buy at least one more blade. If you're new at using a recip saw as I was, I'd recommend just buying the standard short DeWalt wood-cutting blade until you get used to using the saw. After that, go buy a 12" blade. You'll need that long blade, for example, for building a deck: for cutting through the centers of 6x6 timbers, because your circular saw won't reach all the way to the center. My first reciprocating saw...and a dandy for the average handyman who has often scratched his head and knuckles trying to figure out how in the world to make a particular cut. The Dewalt is sturdy, if a bit heavy. The power is adequate for everything I've encountered so far...wood, steel, etc. Nothing cleaver to learn how to use, no wrenches or screws to misplace when changing blades, just straightforward cutting. the drop-in blade clamp is simple and effective. It makes changing blades fast and certain. Dewalt only send one blade with the saw and it's a metal cutting blade, so to keep up with chores involving wood, you need to pick-up a variety pack of blades at the local hardware store. This saw is everything I would expect.

I've owned this saw a couple years now. It's done everything I asked it to do, it's had enough power to handle anything I've thrown at it, blade changing is a snap, it's a great tool, and very durable.

People keep comparing this to a Milwaukee, IMO generally speaking Dewalt tools are not as well made as Milwaukee, but you didn't pay a Milwaukee price for this saw either, y'all get what you pay for. Yes, I have a Milwaukee sawzall which I believe is better, but this Dewalt does something the Milwaukee doesn't, the 4 blade positioning comes in extremely handy especially when needing to make flush floor cuts.

I like this saw, glad I bought it, and recommend it to anyone.

I bought this saw at Lowes and it initially sounded like a quality tool with nice features (four way clamp is a nice idea... on paper).

It worked fine for about 1h of demo work, eventually the clamp developed a problem where it would not lock the blade in horizontal position (and I needed that the most to cut close to wall without bending the blade) anymore and releasing vertical lock was sometimes a challenge as well.

The clamp also became VERY wobbly to the extent that the blade was oscillating around like crazy.

The tool was returned and Lowes rep said this is not the first time this tool was returned to them for this or similar issue with clamp.

This is a good saw for a home owner or occasional use around the yard, etc but I would not recommend it for regular use. The motor is powerful enough for most jobs, and while the 4 way blade change system is convenient, it often doesn't work. The release mechanism will only work at the beginning of the stroke so you sometimes have to slowly run the motor to just the right position to change the blade. The locking pin often locks up and has to be persuaded with a screwdriver to lock in place. this takes all of the convenience out of the quick change system. My quick change system was ruined after cutting through some slightly damp boards, which was enough to cause some surface rust to creep up on the blade change mechanism, preventing it from locking at all, I can now only change blades by taking the entire head apart, and even then it will only lock in the sideways position and not the vertical. If you are a contractor or pro, spend the extra money to invest in a heavy duty Milwaukee sawzall.

This is my first reciprocating saw and I was not disappointed. I really like the fact that the blade can be used in any position (up, down, left, right) and is very easy to change. The blade quick change system is great and easy to use, just lift the lever and insert the blade. It has a variable speed trigger. The tool is also very comfortable to hold and is not too heavy. It comes with a carrying case that allows you to store the tool with the blade inserted (you don't have to remove it). The case has plenty of room for extra storage.

I have owned this saw for two years. It has never failed. It worked PERFECTLY about 18-months ago during a horrible winter wind/rain storm. my awning was ripped from the ground and into the neighbor's yard. I had little time to secure the awning as we had wind at about 50mph gusts with 70mph+ gusts at anytime. But this bad-boy worked like a champ allowing me to cut up the awning into enough pieces to secure them until a more through job could be done.

I have cut 6x6's PT lumber, metal, wood and even cut down several medium sized fruit trees. It never has failed or made work harder.

Remember to keep a fair number of blades as they do tend to get dull or bend. This is not a fault of the saw or the blades but rather just the nature of reciprocating saws in general. I keep at least 5-blades of each type and a couple lengths. After every job I buy a few new blades. I do this because a sharp blade will help the saw work with less effort and therefore make the work easier and cleaner.
