Flashlight - camping lantern, camping

I own two Coleman Max Family Size LED Lanterns (purchased at Wal-Mart) that emit 175 lumens each. In comparison, this Coleman Twin-LED Lantern purchased through Amazon.com emits more than twice as much light (390 lumens), and its light is more diffused, whereas the other two have shadows cast by the four obstructive metal supports, plus the light they emit is more glaring because it isn't diffused. My other two lanterns also have only high and low settings while this one has a variable settings dial.

Anyway, I liked this unit so much that I purchased another. I think it is the best one of its kind available and that you will like it, too. The only disadvantage that I can so far determine is that the lack of the four lid supports may cause loss of some of the protection qualities of the clear, unobstructed plastic protective outer casing against scratches. Coleman Twin LED Lantern

We bought this lantern for my husband's 95 year old mother. She lives alone in a northern (snowy) state, and we wanted to be sure that she had an emergency light for power outages. Her fingers don't have the strength to turn some lights on and off, so we liked the totally variable brightness dial on this lamp. It smoothly dials from almost no light to bright, bright, bright. She loved the lamp and said she would use it not only for emergencies but for every day use at her bedside. With this lamp on a night table next to her bed she can just reach over and turn the dial when she wakes at night, instead of having to sit up and struggle with an on/off switch.

As for the warnings in other reviews about not being able to buy replacement bulbs, LED's do not burn out. In addition, they require very little energy to produce light, and you will be surprised at how long your batteries will last.

We did not think that changing batteries in this lamp was challenging.

It's a good buy. The price is very reasonable for what you get.

My mother-in-law liked the way it looked just like the old Coleman lanterns that used kerosine for fuel.

I bought this Coleman lantern just before going on a week long camping trip, so there wasn't much time to really get to know what to expect from it. I read other reviews, positive & negative, but purchased it anyways because it was not a fueled lantern, but battery powered LED's.

The first thing to keep in mind about this lantern is the level of light this unit makes. The first evening out in the campsite, I used my flashlight for a while until it got very dark. Then I set this lantern on the picnic table there and turned it on. It literally lit up the whole campsite, just as a propane or camping fueled lantern would. In the total darkness surrounding me out there, I could clearly see about 50 or 60 feet around my campsite. That was with the light at full brightness. Knowing that full brightness would eat up the batteries, I adjusted it down a bit. Still, it puts out plenty of light to see around me, even on low to medium power.

This is an adjustable LED lantern, meaning the levels of light will vary with the rotary knob. It isn't like the tall torch floor lamps most people have in their homes, where the level of light will slowly vary with the knob as you turn it, but will brighten up or dim down with a "fixed" amount of light coming from it. LED's don't vary in their intensity slowly like an incandescent light bulb will when you increase or decrease their intensity.

There are 7 levels of light from this unit, which is nice if you want to light up the whole campsite, or dim down far enough to read a book, but not disturb others in your tent while they sleep. The twin frosted globes doesn't have "bright spots" as clear globes would, because there is no direct light coming from it. It's all diffused all the way around. But the best thing about this light is, since it's an LED light, there is no heat coming from it to attract bugs. Some of the other campers around me used fueled lights, and I could see moths buzzing around their lanterns, as well as them swatting mosquitoes. I had the occasional moth fly by me, but no mosquitoes. BIG PLUS for me right there!

I would've given this light 5 stars, but I've only had it for about 3 weeks now, so I can't comment on it's durability and longevity. I *can* say that for the money, it's a GREAT camping light. It's about a foot tall and weighs about 4 or 5 pounds, but most of that weight is the lithium batteries I put in there. Sure if you want to save weight, put dry cell batteries in there, but dry cell batteries won't last for very long. That's something you DON'T need when you're out in the middle of the woods, is no light and dead batteries!

If you're an avid camper, OR you need an LED lantern that puts out *plenty* of light, this would be the one I recommend. I put it to the test for a week out in the woods, and it didn't fail me. But, that's only a week's time so your mileage may vary.

Two thumbs up!

This lantern puts out great light, but watch out when loading in the batteries. The compartment isn't very user friendly and poorly labeled, so I may have switched the polarity of one of the batteries when loading them in. The lantern started hissing and was hot to the touch after a few minutes. I couldn't open the battery compartment until I gave it a really hard jolt. The batteries were boiling over. I would hate to think of what would have happened if I hadn't been sitting next to the lantern when it was overheating!

First of all, ignorant humans should be banned from recording feedback.

Second, if one can't see the difference between a + and - one needs to repeat the second grade.

Third, this classic is ~twice as bright(390 lumens compared to 190 lumens)as compared to other 8D LED lanterns.

Fourth, its easy to find D batteries on sale for 50% off, so just stock-up when you see them on sale.

And finnally, LED bulbs will last decades, so for as often as the powers-out, or camping 50x per year-no bulb needed.

Wheehhww! Now that we have cleaned out the ignorant clutter, you the prospective buyer, can be assured that this Coleman Twin

LED Lantern is truly a Five-Star! I've had mine "burning" for hours now. The "cool-factor" for this is five-star as well,

its virtually a twin to the old-classic-propane lantern in size, appearance, and charm.

Anyway, there ain't nothin wrong with this lantern, its all good. Buy one, you'll be glad you did. - Camping Lantern - Camping - Emergency Light - Lantern'

Ipod Touch 4th Generation Case - ipod touch 4th generation, ipod accessories

With several low-cost options for screen protectors, I ordered a few different kinds not knowing what to expect. Like some others, this one had roughly an equal number of one-star and five-star reviews. This protector, from TDC-Direct, was the first to arrive, so it was the first one I tried. The application instructions seemed self explanatory, so I did not bother with the on-line video. The firm, removable backing on both sides made proper alignment a snap. There was a couple of small bubbles at first, but they smoothed out easily. I am now getting great protection with no sign of peeling. Each protector even came with its own microfiber for pre-application cleaning. Considering I got three of these for less than two bucks including shipping, this is easily a five-star purchase for me. Three LCD Screen Guards / Protectors for Apple iPod Touch 4 / 4G / 4th Gen

Well I don't really know why all this people had trouble with this protector, but ill give my review! so it shipped in like 4days! When i got it I thought ''Well lets see if it works'' and so there was a paper with a youtube link on it just to HELP YOU and to apply this correctly, I followed the instructions and it worked! no bubbles, nothing! And it looks like it doesnt have any protector! so I recomend you to buy this one, at the end its just $1 and FOLLOW instructions! and you'll see no you wont get any bubbles and it will look great! I still have the first protector ON and I'll tell you that it will be there for a long time cause it just WORKED!

Nobody listen to the negative reviews. This product works fine...The reviews that bubbles appeared behind the protector are only evident of someone who does not know how to apply the protectors or does not have a clean screen to begin with. The screen has to be absolutly clear of any dirt or dust particles or it WILL leave little bubbles, so make sure the screen is completely clean before you apply. I cleaned my screen off very well and applied the protector from one corner to the opposite corner and i do not have one bubble...Fits perfect.

This product is alright. I purchased their screen protectors for my HTC Hero about 4 months ago, and am still on the first one (it doesn't have any scratches!). That being the case, I came back to them when I purchased an iPod Touch (4th gen). The screen protectors are still the same quality, still easy to put on and handle, but there is a second hole on the screen protector on the top right. It has a hole for the camera in the top center, and a hole for the button on the bottom center. I assume this third one is for something in the iPhone, but with this product being marketed towards the iPod, you would think they would alter it enough to properly cover the entire screen.

That being said, the hole is barely noticeable, and you can't see it at all in the images Amazon provides. It's still a good product, I was just surprised to find an extra opening in the product and didn't want other consumers to go through the same surprise.

Other than the fact that it took me two tries to get the screen lined up correctly with the holes, this was a really great product. The application was simple and i only had one bubble on the entire screen. The only advise i can give to make this product better for potential buyers is: Read the Instructions.

I read many of the reviews that were very neg. about this product. I am not sure what the problem was that they were having but it worked great for me. If I had no issues applying then anybody can do it. I know nothing when it comes to this stuff. Maybe they did not read the directions. I think for the money this was a great deal and worked as described.

I just thought that I would let people know that there is an extra hole to the right of the camera for a reason. Its actually the auto brightness sensor that can really only be seen in direct sunlight. I was confused by this too but i wouldnt let that discourage anybody from buying.

No instructions with the Guards. If you haven't put some on before, you will have to look up how to do it. Even so, I messed up the first one. The second one went on OK. They do seem to scratch easily. But for the price they are worth it as long as you expect to change them every so often.

Good product. The only thing I didn't like about it was the process of sticking it on the screen because it leaves you with a messing ending. It takes a litlle cleaning. Overall good product and would recommend to any one with Ipod touch 4

Good screen protectors for the low price they were at (Apple charges 10 times what I ended up paying this vendor). They're cut exactly to the iPod Touch's screen size and don't interfere with the operation of the device. The corners don't peel and the material doesn't scratch easily. Co2 Detector - carbon monoxide detectors, alarms

This is a very convenient unit to install and figure out. I like the digital display because you can see the CO levels and can get a sense of any issues by simply glancing at the unit when walking by. I liked that it came with brand name batteries too, when I was looking at my local hardware store some of the units had generic batteries. The reason I bought a Kidde is the built in functionality. I had a smoke alarm of theirs that was acting funny, beeping every 30 seconds, so I pulled it down and right on the back it listed what each beep sequence meant (no having to hunt for a manual, or search online). This unit acts in the same manner, it's even supposed to alert me in 7 years when it is time to replace the unit, how cool is that? Kidde KN-COPP-B-LPM Battery-Operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Digital Display

I bought this because of the requirement by law to have one. It was very easy to install and has a large Display panel as well. If you don't have one of these in your house, and need it by law, this is an easy choice!!

I bought this alarm because the description said you could use it on a table top. I wanted to put Carbon Monoxide alarm in the basement near the water heater and furnace but didn't want to go to the trouble of mounting it on a cement wall. This worked great! I just set it on the shelf in the laundry room. Bonus, I can still read the digital display because the screen is big. I have the previous version of this which was round and i think the part number was KN-COPP-B. I kept the box so I could order another one but was happy to find out that they updated it and made it free standing.

I highly recommend this product, and Amazon shipped it in a day. I bought it and the next day I had it in my house working.

I did a lot of reading on all the different type of CO1 detectors offered here on Amazon. I chose this model not only for my own home, but also for the customers I install CO1 units into their homes (I'm a contractor). This is not the cheapest model available and the same company makes one without the digital readout which is less expensive, but I believe it's worth the extra money to have the readout. That way, I feel that if there is a problem, it may be caught sooner than later if the amount of emissions are listed. This unit is guaranteed to last seven years as opposed to the other model without the readout at five years. It's one place I would not want to cut corners. I also prefer the types that are mounted at eye level and not into an outlet.

Kidde has a great line of products. I like this new co alarm because of the large window display. I can walk by and take a quick glance at it. It is battery powered so I don't need to worry about the alarm not working during a power outage. When you test the alarm it is loud, even over the loud music that I sometimes play. Another feature is, you can date the item, so you know when to replace it. This alarm has a 5 year warranty. Every home should have a CO detector. Put it inside your house near the garage door, gas dryer or furnace. Takes minutes to install.

Our local authorities dictated that homeowners had just one week to comply with CO Alarms being installed. In a panic we picked out the Kidde KN-COPP-B-LPM from the Amazon information. It was easy to install in the recommended place near our bedrooms and satisfies the requirement. Operation is easy.

I recently bought 2 of these units for my home. The units are very compact in size and installs flush onto the wall. The LCD display is large enough where I don't have to squint my eyes to see the reading. It's also nice that they include the 3 AA batteries required for operation. Now for the misleading part. Amazon's product description clearly states that the unit is backlit. It is not. I confirmed this by calling Kidde help support which informed me that this specific model was intended for energy-saving and therefore omitted the feature. If the backlit feature is something you can live without, this is a highly serviceable unit to have protecting you household.

This KIDDE KN-COPP-B-LPM BATTERY-OPERATED CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM WITH DIGITAL DISPLAY is an easy way to meet the CO monitoring law. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS carefully. It mounts easily on your wall, and takes you only minutes to install. This DOES NOT have a back-lit display, but can be quickly read in ambient light. The unit will last for seven years. You then MUST replace it with a new unit. I feel that the high-pitched warning sound made by this unit can be heard, even through closed bedroom doors. LED colored status lights are easy to see.

Easy to install. So far no false alarms. Must push a button to get avg. reading, but so what? "If" it alarms when CO levels are high enough, that's all that's important. Four stars only because I haven't had an alarm situation (thankfully) to know whether or not it alarms. All else is as advertised. - Co2 - Carbon Monoxide - Carbon Monoxide Detectors - Alarms'

Bomber Hats - hats, bomber

In a review of another color of this hat, someone noted that they felt the hat to be a little too snug. I can see that and if you have a large head, you may want to pass on it. I find it snug and perhaps at the edge of being too snug, but I don't mind. Apart from that caveat, I like this hat and am happy with it. It's warm and well worth the money. Brown Weatherproof Nylon Aviator Pilot Trooper Trapper Hat for Men and Women with Complete Inner Faux Fur Lining.

This arrived the day before i was to give it as a gift so there was no time to exchange the hat that had come without the seams fully sewn. 10 minutes with a needle and thread fixed the problems but they should not have been there in the first place.

Our teenage son requested this specific hat for Christmas. Although it doesn't strike me as the most attractive hat, all the teens wear them! He loves it and is wearing it constantly. In fact, after shoveling snow for awhile, he had to take the hat off because his head was TOO warm! :) Good quality and worth the price. Fashion is indeed in the eye of the hat wearer! :)

Product was exact to the description and a great price for keeping my husband warm in the Chicago winter blizzard. Everytime he wears it, he's can't tell me enough how warm it keeps his head. Fits him comfortably. 5'8" 150lbs avg sized guy. - Hats - Bomber Hats - Bomber - Caps'

Woodworking - furniture, carpentry

I brought the first book of the Home improvement library series about a year ago. The book is very informative and the photo illustration is excellent. Therefore when I need some wood working DIY this book is my first choice. This book is a step to step guide to build projects, each project list with material list and require tools. Not many word on the wood basic and technique. If you want to have some weekend work, this is the book. Here is the list of projects and you can check it out. Easy-Umbrella stand, Mirrored coat rack, Mitten chest, Entry Valet, Mission windows seat. Living room - bookshelf, two-tier bookshelf, liquor locker, humidor cabinet, tile-top coffee table, plant stand. Family room - bookcase, library table, card table, game table, table/chair, sideboard. Home office - drafting stool, writing desk, secretary topper, nesting office, wastebasket. Bedroom - room divider, cedar chest, nightstand, armoire, mission lamp base. Kitchen - pine pantry, wine & stemware cart, utility cart, recycling center, gateleg table. Black & Decker Easy Wood Furniture Projects: 32 Step-by-Step Projects for the Home

That was the main allure for me. I went shopping and bought some nice hand tools to get started in woodworking. I figured that if I wound up not liking it, I would still have useful hand (power) tools for around-the-house type stuff. Well, I got hooked. You'll make some mistakes, and quickly see the value of a table saw, but you will see what you're capable of and hunger for more. Most of the projects are glued and screwed together, with plugs to conceal the screw holes, so "serious" woodworkers don't consider this a serious book. But it is nice because you get gratification fairly quickly. Even though these projects are built of high grade plywood and S4S lumber, they're still sturdier and higher quality than the cheap particle board crap that is sold at Wal*Mart. Give it a try. You'll like it. It will reel you into our world. ;)

I bought this book for my boyfriend and it is well worth the money. There are many many projects - very practical ones like a night stand, table, bench, etc. But there are also projects like a wine cart and an island. ...

Really just what I was looking for. A couple of easy to make projects that do not require extensive wood working knowledge. Now where is the book to motivate me into making these projects? :)

Happy customer

I bought this book a while ago and have made several of the items in it including a couple of the cedar chests and the table. Overall this is a great book for beginners. The projects only require a circular saw a sander a jig saw and basic tools. This is a good introduction into woodworking. The stuff isn't fancy but it is homemade and that is a satisfying feeling to know that you made your own furniture.

It is a well written book with good instructions but I really did not see any of the project that I would want to build. I think a bit more imagination as well as some ways to dress up the projects would have made the book a bit more useful. - Furniture - Carpentry - Projects'

I was worried about getting this but the case is nice, sturdy and well made and what a great price. I did bling it a bit but that's beause it is sturdy enough to do so.

Had bought a jelly for the kindle but now don't need it. Latest 3rd Generation Kindle 3 E-Book Reader Black PU Leather Case / Cover - by Abacus24-7

While I agree with the rest of the commenters that this little case is both economical and looks pretty good, and does its basic job of holding the kindle, I have to comment on something I haven't seen brought up so far - the overpowering chemical scent!

I know real leather has a scent, but this is not *real* leather, and whatever chemical was used on/in it has forced me to leave my kindle out in the open unprotected, while I put the case out to air (that didnt work), and finally I dunked it in some hot soapy woollite water - it was that bad. Im hoping the bath helped, but I took the risk of ruining it because I dont know where this piece was made, or if the chemical scent I was smelling could eventually cause me or my family harm. I'll see whether or not it is usable in the morning. Im a little disappointed because it really does look good.

*****

UPDATE

I did some research and found that this chemical scent is mentioned when reffering to PU 'leather', it is not really leather and it is prohibited to call it so in some countries overseas. It is said that the scent will fade over time. One thing that I wouldve really appreciated with this item is more information on where it was made and with what materials. NO information came with the case, and if it was made in a country that does not care to use material that isnt dangerous - how would I know that? What kind of quality control does Amazon do for the items featured on its site?

I was surprised to see a leather case for under $6 after shipping, and by the picture, it appears that the case holds the Kindle 3 better than cases with four elastic or leather bands in the corners. When the case arrived, I slipped my Kindle in the top and then frowned--what was to keep it from slipping out the top? I turned the case upside down, and the kindle slipped right out. But I fixed this problem by taping a piece of Velcro to the top of the kindle and the inside top of the case. Now the Kindle is secure, but I think a little bit of foresight on behalf of the designers of this case could have avoided this problem--maybe a leather strap. The case closes shut with a magnetic clasp--I'm not sure if I like this as it can open easily, but then again, if it is packed away, it would probably be fine, and then the convenience of opening it and closing it easily is a bonus. So, for $6 and a small piece of velcro, I'm very pleased to have ordered this case and would recommend it to whoever is reading this review--just get yourself some Velcro ahead of time.

The cases that Amazon offered seemed very expensive to me, so I tried to get some alternatives...

When I got to this product I found it quite nice, but I was a bit unsure about its quality. Then, I received it, and I was really satisfied. The Kindle fits perfectly, seems not to move, and the quality looks fine at least for now.

The Kindle definitely needs a case (otherwise, it's very uncomfortable to carry, and it seems really vulnerable), and this is a great option for a great price!

When I ordered this case, I wasn't expecting much. It was far less expensive than the other leather cases available. The reality is that this case fits my Kindle 3 perfectly. I don't need to remove the Kindle from the case to do anything.

It takes a split-second to open and start reading, which was critical for me since much of my reading is in short periods on public transportation.

The leather feels good in my hands, which I didn't expect at this price point. The stitching doesn't look like it was hand-done at great expense, but given the price point, I can't imagine that there is a better case available.

For the price this is a great cover. The kindle fits well, haven't had it slip out at all. The only drawback may be that the back speakers are a little muffled by the case, but I don't really use them, and I figure any cover will do the same. The kindle on it's own was just too hard to hold and lug around the house, I kept changing pages on accident. I use my kindle all the time for boooks, RSS feeds with Calibre and instapaper. Can't fit it in my back pocket any more with the case but that probably wasn't the smartest thing to do in the first place. Again, for the money this thing fits the bill perfectly.

Firstly, I made my son happy with the purchase of the Kindle just for him. He loves to read. I was amazed at how well he was taking care of his new "toy" but I wanted to make sure that he also had an adequate cover. This case is tight fit. However, you're not intending to remove the Kindle from the case and place it back in multiple times. Everything remains accessible and it still keeps the device looking stylish. Excellent value for the money.

This is a great looking case... and for the price I could not ask for more. I agree with the comment that it may need a strap or something on top to prevent the Kindle from slipping out of the case, but the way I use it, this does not pose a problem to me. In terms of smell, it does have a mild artificial new car scent, but nothing that my extremely sensitive nose would object to. It is way better than I expected, even compared to other highly priced cases... and for this price I could not ask for more.

I was very put of by the cost of Kindle covers so I was delighted to see one that was affordable. It looks nice, is easy to insert and remove the Kindle and meets my needs. It's pretty easy to read while the Kindle is in the case.

As others have noted, the Kindle can fall out if you turn it upside down, but that's not much of a drawback in my opinion. Definitely worth the price and although it was not a Prime eligible product it shipped fast. - Ebook - E-reader - Kindle - Ebook Reader'
