World Music - pop, bellydance

This album is fantastic -- highly danceable, and fun to just listen to. It's very modern-sounding, with regular nods to traditional Turkish music. It's one of the best albums I've picked up in a while, and to get it for free is amazing. But it was a great marketing ploy -- I'd never heard of any of these artists, and I've already put a few of them on my iTunes wish list. Turkish Hits Vol. 1

I've only listened to the album once -- and picked out 5 songs I know I'll really like;

Askim Baksana Bana

Senden Baska

Çakkidi

Dilli Düdük

Yol Arkadasim (this has become my favorite - it's a fantastic song!)

(I also ended up really liking A'k Hiç bitmez (Yaramaz'm))

I love world music, so I was thrilled I got to get this album free -- I recommend getting it, even if you have to buy it.

The music is really catchy, and beautiful. The feel is like pop, kind of, but being Turkish there are non-conventional instruments and sounds. Some of them are more hip-hop, others maybe fall into a folk category. All in all a great variety, I enjoy it.

I remember hearing all of the "Hits in 1966 - 68" while sitting in a popular local Ankara,Turkey Beauty parlour.... and my oh my; I'm thinkin' most of these wouldn't fly w/ the military regime I experienced while there.... this stuff is actually catchy, decent and you can dance to a lot of it. I never thought I'd like a collection of Turkish hits; but I do !

Bored and wanting something new, I went through the Amazon free downloads and tried just about everything. Most of the downloads were "Okay, I tried that. Next!" but this one is a keeper. I enjoyed it quite a bit in spite of not knowing anything about Turkish music. It's upbeat, interesting, with the songs being different from one another (too much pop music sounds all the same), and with good voices that can be enjoyed for their sound even if you don't understand the language. If you're curious about Middle Eastern music, this modern Turkish pop would be a way to ease into it.

I didn't expect much from this free music download except mediocre music and maybe a semi decent tune or two but was pleasantly surprised to hear some really good music. Great for bellydancing or any kind of dancing. My favorites on this album are Melek, Dilli Düdük, ?eytan. This is a great find!

Every single song rocks. I'll definitely be adding music to my collection from several of these artists. If you like Bollywood music, definitely try this free download. There are many catchy dance beats with a very definite Eastern flavor.

This is so awesome! These are quality artists for free. I already have some music from Tarkan, Candan Erçetin, K'raç, Nazan Öncel, and Gülben Ergen. You're not dredging the bottom of the barrel here, this is a nice representation of contemporary music in Turkey. :D Still can't believe it's free! Liked every song.

This is a really fun album even if you don't know Turkish. Upbeat, electronic dance pop genre but not formulaic. I especially like the song Dilli Düdük, I sometimes listen to it a couple times in a row and am amazed. - Pop - Belly Dance - Bellydance - Turkey'
