Lead - pencil, lead
I bought one of these from OfficeMax just to try it out, thought what the heck.
But it is great. The auto advance works great and I find that when I pick up my pencil to move the next word I don't leave little tails, and I LOVE the fact that not only do you not have to click-advance, YOU CANT.
It is refillable by unscrewing the eraser. Very cool to have a *actual* eraser on the end.
I would buy again and again. Dixon Ticonderoga 99995 Dixon Ticonderoga SenseMatic Plus Mechanical Pencil, #2, 0.7 mm, SR, 5/Pk
This pencil automatically extends the lead by itself. You do not need to click any buttons or rotate a mechanism to extent the lead.
I bought a lifetime supply of this model and its sibling product the "20000" model (that looks like a common pencil) because the manufacturer has discontinued them...too bad. However, I think my small supply may outlast me.
If taken care of, it'll be a very reliable mechanical pencil. Although the tip is durable, it can be damaged that renders it useless. So you need to protect the tip. I recommend covering it with an ink pen cover if storing it in a pack-pack, purse, and such. If storing it in a cup (like many people do), keep the tip upwards. Pressing too hard may damage the tip too. And don't use your finger to play with the tip.
Start with easy pressure so you'll get used to the way it writes and appreciate how it works. It uses normal leads used by all mechanical pencils. One lead has already lasted about fifty pages for me and has not ran-out.
It's perfect for practicing mathematics, the sciences, and even general purpose writing. The one lead will easily outlast the eraser, so plan on getting erasers that fit over the top because the existing eraser cannot be replaced.
I really like this pencil.
I love this pencil. The eraser is top of the line, and the pencil provided a lot of resistance. It functioned perfectly until about 3 days of use. The resistance started to lower, and eventually the graphite just pushed back into the barrel of the pencil when you tried to write.
I would love to buy the pencil again if they improve it, because the concept is really great.
Pros:
No clicking/twisting/shaking
No chance of breaking lead unless you drop the pencil
Very cost effective, about the same as the bulk pack "black sticks" standard cheapo mechanical pencil but lasts many times longer
New models are refillable, a much needed improvement over the old models
Cons:
Leads may not advance out far enough for some people's taste
Still classified as a "disposable"
This is a great pencil I have used for over 12 years. It is very reliable, quick, no nonsense pencil that should have replaced woods a long time ago.
I bought this product and it came in a little over 3 days. Everything came in pristine condition, the packaging the pencils came in wasn't opened and everything that it was supposed to include was included. I love these pencils because you dont have to click, twist, or shake the pencil for lead to come out and the pencil works while also letting almost no lead come out so it is almost impossible to break the lead. This pencil automatically advances the lead while you write. This works because there is a little black tip insert that the lead comes out of that can be pushed in and when the lead runs out, the surface you are writng on pushes the black tip inward which makes more lead advance forward. The eraser lasts a long time and erases almost all pencil marks comletely without smearing.
These were used frequently for a class. Two of them were completely useless within a week. The lead will not come out of the others - it has to be pulled out from the tip if they are to be used. Also, unlike other mechanical pencils, only three lengths of lead will fit into the pencil. It is a great concept and I hope someone figures out how to make it work, but as of now, save your money and keep clicking the lead out yourself.
This is a great pencil. It feels like a regular ticonderoga pencil I grew up writing with but it has the reliability, precision and consistency of a mechanical pencil.
works perfectly too. the automatic lead feed is very very good. - Pencil - Lead - Mechanical Pencils'
