This is a great device. Finds the online shows I listen too all the time on my computer, even strange music station I listen to. Some great features, like auto connect if you go out of range, auto connect to different routers to the strongest one too.
Does play am radio, through wifi. Plays local radio stations am/fm through wifi as long as your local station broadcasts online. In my area most of them do. The separate fm tuner works great, very clear. No separate am tuner though. All searching, password entering etc must be done on tiny screen, hard to read some letters but its okay. Menu could be done better, but once stations are programmed in the memory its easy to use. Just takes a while to scroll through thousands of stations. So far mine does not connect to the computer at all. I had read another review stating it does, but mine doesnt. Only has a usb charging cable to power it. Also has internal battery. About the size of 1st gen i pod. Speaker sounds great, though wish it would of been stereo. About 1 inch diameter speaker.

This product has great features, a good looking design, works well and seems to be solidly built. I bought it because I could not find any apps that would allow me to listen live to radio station of my choosing without carrying a computer. It is a much better solution than a smart phone since it has a speaker, allows access to just about any radio station in the world, provides 10 easily programmed presets and unlimited favorites via the vTuner website interface. WiFi reception seems as good as with MacBook Pro or iPod Touch and the sound quality through earphones is fine. Mutant's customer service via email was excellent - they provided a working URL for one NPR station I couldn't find. Looking forward to using this when travelling (small, completely portable, long life internal rechargeable battery - all at a good price). Now - if only it had a custom neoprene case it would be perfect.

Here's what you have to know before you buy this.
IF you are looking for a certain radio station, and know the name, etc. Go to VTUNER website, and do a search. IF You find the station on VTUNER, this is the Internet Radio for you! * THERE is NO online registration required, NOR any additional cost or monthly fees once you buy this radio. All the stations are FREE to be listened to 24/7. Just tune them in from the menu on your radio, press the center 'Enter' button, and the station is added to your 'Presets.' EVEN any future 'Firmware updates' are installed directly from the radio itself...

I have been searching for months to locate a small, PORTABLE Internet Radio so I can listen to all the fun going on at KJUL FM 104.7 in Las Vegas. Scott Gentry, a former in-country Armed Forces Radio D.J. during the Vietnam War has a great radio station, and a personality to match... and with this Mutant Radio, I first searched VTUNER website for the station... and poof, there it was. :-)
[] THE Best feature with this radio compared to other Internet Radios, is that Once you set your favorite station as the 'Default' station. You first Turn ON the radio by pushing and holding down the 'POWER ON' button for 3 seconds (cute LED stripe in the photo flashes) and then the radio starts playing your 'Default Station' instantly!!
The radio does also have an 'FM' section for your ** LOCAL FM radio stations *** in your area, but my goal was to find an Internet Radio player that was small and portable. THIS IS THE DEFINATE WINNER!!
Great features, easy as heck to setup, searches for your WI-FI, then you scroll the letters/number for your WI-FI password. Once you input your WI-FI Password, it won't ask ever again for it Fast and EASY. [ "No" it does NOT have any ethernet cable input jack, strictly operates via WI-FI (wireless) ONLY. Great reception from your WI-FI router.
IF you want to hear this radio in STEREO, you can get an adapter cable to connect this to your stereo amp, or just plug in your amplified speaker jack into the existing 3.5mm headphone jack on this radio. -=- Plugging in Stereo headphones, will allow you to hear STEREO.

and they are working plenty LOUD enough using the volume control on the Mutant Internet Radio. Nice STEREO and full bass/treble sound coming out of the Sony speakers
This radio has a great FULL, Loud, CLEAR sound from the single 1 1/4" speaker, and a 3.5mm standard earphone jack on the right side. What a pleasant surprise to find this Internet Radio. Where has it been all my life! The audio sound from this radio is much better than my $500 Asus 1215N laptop's speakers!

Awesome find for sure. Set your station, and click the 'LOCK' slide switch so nothing gets moved while you are connected, Nice feature.
