African American History - kindle price too high, book recommendations

Change Your Habits, Change Your Life will truly do what the title says. This book does not reveal any weight loss secret and doesn't miraculous present anything you haven't heard before or know is true ... but what is does is deliver the message in a practical way, as if it were presented by a true and trusted friend over the kitchen table. Danna gives real life information backed up by God's truth. For once I have read a book that not only enforces what I know is the right way to lose weight (eat less, move more, duh!), but gives direction on how to trust God to provide the transformation into knowing what to do and DOING IT! Change Your Habits, Change Your Life: A Proven Plan for Healthy Living

I ordered Danna Demetre's book after attending a Womens conference where she was the guest speaker. She is dynamic in her presentation and very motivating in her ability to spur us on in order to make changes in our life.

The biggest change in my life is knowing I am a child of GOD and from that flows how I think of myself based on what GOD says about me. We are what we think and Danna reminds us that healthy living both physically and spiritually is the key.

We learn how we can change our habits by changing our old "thought tapes". She has some very helpful guidelines to effectively change us for the better and more happier self GOD meant us to be.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for an effective way to change old habits.

I am almost done with my second time through Danna's book. The daily readings are encouraging, both spiritually and health-wise. Danna is very encouraging about celebrating every small victory and change because they truly add up to become lifestyle changes. I am exercising regularly, eating in a much more healthy and natural way, and encouraged to know and believe the truth about God and myself...the way to truly change and renew my mind. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to change unhealthy physical habits, as well as unhealthy thinking. I'm going to go through it a third time! - Publisher Price Ripoff - 9 99 Boycott - Kindle Price Too High - Book Recommendations'

Bruce Campbell Is  like Good Wine

When the moon is in the Seventh House

And Jupiter aligns with Mars

Then Bruce will guide the planets

And Make Love! will steer the stars

I'm beginning to feel like it's the Dawning of the Age of Bruce - within a week or so I've watched and reviewed the new limited edition DVD of Evil Dead 2, the Sci-Fi Channel's original movie Alien Apocalypse, and Campbell's own directorial debut, Man With the Screaming Brain. To polish all that off, I've also just finished listening to the audio book version of his first novel, Make Love! *The Bruce Campbell Way.

I like Campbell as the self-proclaimed B-actor he is, but I have to confess I was disappointed by his much-lauded, bestselling memoir, If Chins Could Kill. I didn't think it was particularly well-written and I found it tedious overall - in short, I was unpleasantly surprised. (I even tried to read it again about a year later, thinking maybe it was just my frame of mind the first time around... but no go.) Needless to say, I had some trepidation about trying Make Love! *The Bruce Campbell Way, but since the publisher had sent me one disc as a teaser I figured I had nothing to lose. And I do love audio books, so that was half the battle right there.

I put the disc in my CD player for a plane ride and the time evaporated before I realized I had finished the sampler and I didn't have any more. The horror! (And in case you're wondering - the book is by a horror icon, but there isn't any of the genre in the storyline.) I begged, pleaded and cajoled until the entire audio book was shipped to me. Those phones were in my ears quicker than Jude Law on a nanny.

Casting himself as the protagonist, the author introduces us to the B-actor Bruce "Don't Call Me Ash" Campbell as he's deciding which upcoming fan convention will be the least painful and pay the most money. Before long he finds himself auditioning for Mike Nichols, where much to his astonishment he wins a supporting role in the famed director's A-list romantic comedy. The remake of Let's Make Love! is set to star Richard Gere, Renée Zellweger, and Christopher Plummer, so Bruce is already writing his Best Supporting Actor acceptance speech.

Like a good little method actor, Bruce decides to create an elaborate back story for his sage/doorman character - in order to do this, he must immerse himself in opening doors and dispensing advice in the real world. This lands him not only in a world of trouble, but deep in a complex, virus-driven mystery that forces him to go on the lam as a fugitive from the law.

The idea of someone writing themselves as a book character is nothing new - funnyman Steve Allen did it in several mysteries, and currently American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis has a horror novel out with a character named... Bret Easton Ellis - but Campbell does it with such shameless, self-deprecating panache, it's a natural (and hearing him as the character, it's so much the better).

The book's many guest stars - Nichols, Zellweger, Gere, and Robert Evans and Jack Nicholson to name a few - are portrayed by other actors, ala a radio play. Normally I don't care for this approach in my audio books, but Campbell wisely realized that this was the only way his book would work on disc.

Sharp, satirical and savvy, Make Love! *The Bruce Campbell Way is a must-have not only for the author's diehards, but for anyone who enjoys a rollicking Tinsel Town tale.

= = =

(...) Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way

This was just a really fun listen. Campbell reads and enacts this story with some actor friends. Complete with various sound effects including Bruce taking various beatings and bruisings through his travails of working on a fictional Mike Nichols film.

Alternately hilarious and full of moviemaking insights. The audition scene alone is worth the price of admission. I would think some struggling actors could learn a thing or three but most folks will greatly enjoy this rollicking adventure.

Let me just say, I LOVE this audio book. It is really a movie on audio because it is fully acted with sound effects all the way through and the story is worthy of being on film. One day we'll annoy Bruce enough that he'll agree to do it. I have never laughed so hard in my life. This is absurdity and intrigue as only Bruce Campbell could produce. Chin up! And buy this audiobook.

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll wet your pants.

Make Love is a brilliant comedy written with enough truth to make you think this is really happening to the man that played Ash. However, the greatest gift of all is to have Bruce Campbell read his own words, giving the listener every little nuance and smarmy tone only Campbell can deliver. I found myself laughing out loud many times and by the end of the audio book, I was hoping that they make this into a movie.

Bruce Campbell can write and he can write funny!

Bruce Campbell's gun shoe, old time acting attitude, with a voice that could have been on radio, and looks that charm old ladies into believing he is sooo sauve.... and then add on hours of listening to him tell you a story, in a story, in a story, (always referencing the Army of Dead persona)only leads to wanting to hear more. I took this audio tape with me on a 10 hours trip and never once turned it off until then end. It's worth purchasing.

This audiobook had me laughing out loud from start to finish. The vocal performances are top-notch, and I enjoyed the use of sound effects as well -- it reminded me of the old radio plays. Bruce Campbell fans should not miss this audio performance!

This was the first audio book I ever listened to and it probably ruined all other audio books for me because it is so entertaining that now when I hear an audio book I want it to be like this not read by some uptight old man. Bruce Campbell is hilarious and this is a must have for any of his fans. Even if you aren't a fan I think you will enjoy this.'

Personal Finance

When I bought the first edition of this book, I was a poor post-graduate loaded with bad debt. At the time, I knew nothing about CD's, funds, stocks, bonds, insurance, 401(k)'s, home-buying, budgeting, saving, debt-reduction, taxes, or any other basic issues of personal finance. All I knew is that I never could seem to "get ahead" financially. Tyson's book led me from this sorry state through four years of self-education and growing self-confidence about controlling my own financial future. Even now, debt-free and market-positioned, I still reference this book when I encounter a new facet of my financial life. No "get-rich-quick" scheme, Tyson lays out a solid framework for anyone interested in getting and maintaining control of their own financial situation throughout a lifetime. The ideas he lays out help a person not only educate him/herself concerning money, but also instill confidence that a financial situation can be corrected or controlled personally.Although this book would serve as a valuable reference to ANYONE interested in their own financial future, it would especially be useful to a young person just "starting out" or to any person who feels overwhelmed by their own financial situation. Personal Finance For Dummies

I work as a financial professional, counseling individuals regarding the options in their employer-sponsored retirement plans. Although the counsel I can give is limited to their retirement plan, several have asked me for advice in other areas of their financial lives. I do not hesitate to recommend this book. Whether you are starting from square one in getting your financial house in order, or your checkbook is balanced to the penny every week, there is information in this book that will benefit you. The "For Dummies" format is perfect for this subject, and Eric Tyson does an excellent job of breaking into layman's terms the most complex of finance and investing concepts. Also, an excellent section on selecting a financial planner is provided. I have often seen the devastating effects that the wrong financial advice has wrought in people's lives. The list of criteria to apply when seeking a financial advisor is one of the most valuable tools I have seen on the subject. This book is one of the most valuable resources I have ever seen in helping the average person get control of their financial lives. Applying its principles will pay immediate as well as long-lasting rewards.

Personal Finance for Dummies is one of the better Personal Finance Books written post 1995. Although there is a wealth of information, there are also a lot of holes. Nevertheless, a great book for anyone interested in Personal Finance. I also strongly recommend "More Wealth without Risk" and "Financial Self Defense" by Charles Givens and "The Truth about Money" to help fill in some of the holes that Mr Tyson missed.

They don't teach personal finance in schools. In this book, author Tyson teaches what every high school in the nation should teach anyone who plans to earn money.

This book provides excellent advice on how to save your money and how to set your savings and spending priorities. In particular, Tyson takes into account the tax advantages and disadvantages of various approaches, and he gives an easy to implement way to maximize the tax benefits that the government provides to encourage wise financial decisions.

It is true that the author likes Vanguard's mutual funds and his book clearly recommends them (along with some others). He's in good company: Consumer Reports also recommends some of Vanguard's mutual funds, and Vanguard consistently has the lowest costs in the mutual fund industry.

Finally, a word of advice: Avoid, avoid, avoid any book that recommends dubious tax evasion schemes like starting your own fictitious business for the purpose of taking tax deductions on personal expenses. Instead, buy this book and follow Tyson's recommendations on taking advantage of legitimate tax benefits associated with wise saving and spending.

I really enjoyed Mr Tyson's book. Very well written and enlightening. For even more strategies and also a easy read, I highly suggest Financial Self Defense by Charles Givens. Givens goes into areas left untouched by Tyson. Tyson and Givens books should be on everyone's bookshelf serious about their financial future. Read and grow rich.

This book is the financial equivalent of a weight loss book that rejects fad diets and instead advises you to stick to the fundamentals, such as getting regular exercise and eating more lean foods like fruits and vegetables. In this book, Tyson lays out the basics of personal finance, namely, eliminate "bad" debt, reduce frivolous spending, invest wisely, and start saving for future expenses such as retirement, home ownership, and children's education. He has no agenda to push, so he is free to warn his readers of the risks of taking investment advice from those who do. And it is written in a clear style that is easily understood by even the least financially savvy reader. Of course, some of his advice will meet with resistance in consumer happy America. For instance, he recommends never buying consumer items such as cars on credit, because the car itself (unlike a house) has no investment potential, and the interest you are paying on the loan is not going to further your own long term financial health. In theory, this makes perfect sense, but in practice, most people simply cannot afford to buy their first car with cash (not if they want a new one) and a used car can be a maintenance nightmare if the previous owner didn't take care of it properly. Other advice is questionable, such as buying your groceries only at "club" stores like Sam's Club. Well, that's nice if you're feeding an army, but most young, single people don't want to buy their peanut butter by the barrel and lug these huge packages up several flights of stairs to their apartments, and will gladly pay a bit more for the convenience of getting goods in quantities they can actually use. But these minor nitpicks aside, this is a fine introductory work. There are so many books out there on investing and personal finance, and it is a relief to find one that sticks to basic, common sense fundamentals instead of trying to entice you into the latest investment fad. In short, this is a terrific place to start for a person who wants to get started on the path to smart long term money management.'

Suspense Thriller - suspense, disturbia

What a pleasant surprise! I'm the world's biggest Hitchcock fan, and well past my adolescent years, so I wasn't expecting a lot from a new flick that every critic in America said was "REAR WINDOW with teens." But this film actually works on its own merits, and the chief merit is Shia LaBeouf. I haven't been this impressed with a new talent since I saw Keisha Castle-Hughes in WHALE RIDER, or when I saw 15-year-old Matthew Broderick in the Broadway play, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, some 25 years ago. This Shia guy is the real deal, and I have a feeling DISTURBIA will go down in the books as the film that really broke him out to a long, high-profile career.

Older folks, take note: This is not your average "teen thriller," nor is it a simple ripoff of Hitchcock. It is a clever, exciting new entity, expertly directed by D. J. Caruso. And the young lead is a perfect combination of Jimmy Stewart in REAR WINDOW (in the first 75 minutes) and Jodie Foster in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (in the final 30 minutes), and every bit as good as both of them. Give DISTURBIA a try--I think you'll like it. Disturbia (Widescreen Edition)

It's always exciting to see a new star on the rise. I don't know what IT is, but Shia LaBeouf has IT is spades. I'm a fan of 'Rearview' and think this is a good modern take on the classic. Though I do have to agree that the last third of the film begins to loose major points just in the sheer illogical motives of the killer. If you are going to be a psycho killer-why on earth would you live in the suburbs? Everyone knows everyone's business there...and you mean to tell me that one one would know this man was digging to China in the garage? Given how close all the houses were-no one else heard women screaming from his place? C'mon. If you can force logic to take a vacation during the movie's durance, you can actually have a pretty good time. Overall: worth watching.

"Disturbia" isn't original. It isn't too scary or gory either. What it is, though, is a fun popcorn yarn about a teen named Kale (Shia LeBeouf) who's placed under house arrest for taking out a little internal anguish on a Spanish teacher. His mother (Carrie-Anne Moss) takes away his television, his music and his X-box. What's a bored teen living in suburbia to do to pass the time? Spy on the neighbors, of course. It helps that his newest neighbor, Ashley (Sarah Roemer), is a knockout and takes regularly scheduled swims and rooftop reading breaks. Once he has all of his neighbors' daily lives timed perfectly, he introduces his friend, Ronnie (Aaron Yoo), to his voyeuristic world. The duo gets caught spying on Ashley but she ends up befriending them when they tell her that they believe one particular neighbor, Mr. Turner (the underused David Morse), might be a serial killer from Texas who was never captured.

This sets the film into motion. The three friends try to uncover the truth about their very private neighbor. The only problem is that with each clue they find that might lead to the truth, Turner seems to be one step ahead of them. Things get even crazier when the police think that Kale is crying wolf over everything.

What I really enjoyed about this film is that it's very funny. I'm not talking about it being funny in a sophomoric, slasher movie way, there's some very smart humor here. Director D.J. Caruso keeps the humor spread just thin enough to keep the suspense at an acceptable level. The cast is very likeable. LeBeouf has an ever-present goofiness about him, but when he needs to be afraid or angry, he pulls it off perfectly. Morse is sneaky and sinister at the same time. Whether he's a murderer or not, the guy will creep you out. Moss is solid, but has a very small role to fill. LeBeouf's pals do a good job as well.

The DVD doesn't have much to offer outside of the film that's worth more than one look. There's the standard "Making Of" featurette, outtakes, a forgettable music video, deleted scenes, and a photo gallery. The digital transfer is good, and the audio is nice as well.

Overall, "Disturbia" is a very fun suspense flick. It's not Hitchcock-caliber, but then again, so few films are. If you want Hitchcock, don't watch "Disturbia." If you want a good film to watch for a quiet evening at home, this film's the one for you.

With a starring role in the new Transformers film and a significant role in the upcoming Indiana Jones installment, Shia LaBeouf is being groomed as the next big thing. He made Disturbia just before these blockbusters and this little thriller was a surprise success at the box office as audiences gravitated to what critics rightly labeled Rear Window for the new Millennium.

It's hard to assess LaBeouf's ability as an actor as he's not given much to work with. The script is merely serviceable with thinly-sketched characters and clichéd dialogue. Veteran actor David Morse does the best job with the material as he oozes genial, soft-spoken menace in every scene. He wisely adheres to the less-is-more school of acting. Carrie-Anne Moss gets the thankless role of the mother who has to show her delinquent son some tough love while making friends with the next-door neighbour psycho. Her bland character makes one long for her sexy freedom fighter in The Matrix films.

Like David Lynch's Blue Velvet, Disturbia explores the dark underbelly that exists under the sunny facade of contemporary suburbia with LaBeouf as the amateur detective/voyeur, Morse as the evil psychopath and Sarah Roemer as the wholesome but not too wholesome girl-next-door. This film also evokes Brian De Palma's Body Double, a thriller about voyeurism and murder but unlike both of these films; it doesn't have the content or the style to separate itself from your average thriller.

Director D.J. Caruso tries to keep things interesting visually but he's kept in check by a PG-13 rating, essentially making Rear Window for teens. It's a change from his usual adult fare (Taking Lives and Two for the Money) but not in a good way. Disturbia falls back on tired clichés that we've seen a million times before, like the bad guy who feels the need to explain himself instead of killing off the hero thereby buying just enough time for the protagonist to regain the advantage. That's just sloppy, lazy screenwriting, folks.

There is an audio commentary by director D.J. Caruso and actors Shia LaBeouf and Sarah Roemer. Caruso answers a call from his wife early on to take an order of stuff to pick up afterwards which kinda sets the tone for this track. I mean, c'mon! At least have the forethought to turn off your phone beforehand. It is this lack of commitment which, in turn, makes you not really care about what's being said...which ain't much in all truthfulness. Avoid at all costs.

Also included are four deleted scenes that flesh out Kale's relationship with his mother and builds on the tension that exists between them. The other scene features a bit between Kale and his best friend that was rightly cut.

"The Making of Disturbia" is your pretty standard featurette as the cast and crew gush about one another. Caruso says that he wanted to make a John Cusack romantic comedy mixed with a thriller (?!). He also wanted to explore the nature of voyeurism with the advent of contemporary technology.

"Serial Pursuit Trivia Pop-Up Quiz" allows you to watch the film with a subtitled trivia track which is a nice added feature that helps distract you from what's happening in the film.

There is brief "Outtakes" reel that features some goofy improvisation in the scene where Kale and his dad go fly fishing.

There is a music video for "Don't Make Me Wait" by This World Fair that mixes footage of the band playing with clips from the movie.

Also included is a "Photo Gallery" with promotional stills and behind-the-scenes photographs.

Finally, there is a theatrical trailer. - Suspense Thriller - Shia Labeouf - Disturbia - Suspense'

Relaxed Fit

I am a homeowner who lives in the country and is constantly fixing something. Whether it's woodworking or small construction projects, I tend to stress jeans in three places, the right pocket where my tape measure slides on, the back pockets, and the crotch area. The Riggs jeans are reinforced in all three areas. Also, I am 6'7" and weigh 260 lbs. Needless to say, it is difficult to find clothes that fit. I read about Wrangler's Riggs jeans in a magazine article about work clothing and decided to try them. The jeans I bought were size 40x36. I have been wearing them now for two months and have no complaints. The cloth is thicker and hardier than normal jeans, something I found helpful when cutting trees for firewood. The pockets are deeper (something I very much appreciate), and the build quality of the jeans is excellent - triple stitching in all the important areas. I think the part that really tops the whole deal off is the price. These jeans were priced at $27 with free shipping. Excellent product, excellent price. What more can I say? Riggs Workwear By Wrangler Men's Work Horse Jean, Antique Indigo, 40W x 32L

I normally don't write reviews, but these pants are great work pants that last. My husband wears these pants to work and they hold up wash after wash. Recommend them for anyone who is looking for a good work pant.

I'm a long-time user who really likes these pants.

They are very sturdy, comfortable work pants with a usable hammer loop. The crotch gusset and full cut make for easy, full-range movement. They are a little warm in the California heat but not unbearable - the trade you make for extra durability.

I have never worn through the Cordura-lined back pockets even though I often sit on the tools I carry in them.

The pocket patch on the right front pocket is supposed to protect against tape measure clip wear but it spreads the clip because of the extra thickness. A tape measure will not be secure if you change back to other pants after hanging it over the protector patch. Hang your tape on the watch pocket until you are a believer in the pants. Then move on to the pocket patch if you wish. I keep my tape on the watch pocket anyway because the tape is out of the way if I want to put my hand in my front pocket and it stays put better when crouching, climbing etc. The watch pocket edges have held up to this treatment so far. Something else has always gone before the watch pocket.

The watch pocket is spacious enough to be very handy for screws, nuts, washers, small bolts, power screwdriver tips, smaller drill bits, smaller nail sets, etc. I have big hands and fingers but can get stuff out of the watch pocket easily. It's nice not to have to fish for these things in a pocket full of change, keys, pocket knives and such.

The Work Horse model is the only Riggs denim version with a usable hammer loop. Other denim Riggs models offer hammer loops that are so tight that they could only be used for an upholsterer's tack hammer.

Some models provide the little pockets on the side of the right leg found in many carpenter's pants/shorts. I find the leg pockets really good for losing stuff when I hook my leg over a joist or a ladder rung so I opt for the Work Horse; no leg pockets but a hammer loop you can use.

I haven't tried the ripstop models even though they are probably cooler and are definitely lighter. They are pricey and I haven't convinced myself they would hold up to the abrasion which is the most common type of wear on the job.

Riggs Work Horse pants are the only pants I have chosen to wear on the job over the last four years of housebuilding.

These jeans are awesome! They are durable-yet comfy to wear. I love to work in these jeans. I plan to buy another couple pairs next paycheck. Just to let you know that these are good, thick jeans, so they take a while to dry when laundered (I dry them seperate).

I got these for my husband and ordered his normal size but the jeans are WAY baggy in the crotch, which makes them very uncomfortable for him. I bought 2 pairs and I'll be returning the pair he didn't wear - he's hoping a good wash in hot water will make the others wearable. They're perfectly good jeans otherwise (which is why I gave them 4 stars), maybe my husband is just too slim for them. He also won't wear his pants at the natural waist (he doesn't really have one!), he wears them at the hip so that might have something to do with it as well, although I don't know many men (blue collar-types like us especially) who wear their pants at the natural waist!

Excellent jeans. The reinforced front right and rear pockets are amazing. No more shredding denim because of a tape measure! Something the description didn't mention: The rear pockets are lined with Cordura. It's a plus if you're like me and end up with wrenches, screw drivers, and the occasional hammer in your back pocket. The fit seems about true to size, and unlike most jeans I've purchased recently there are seven belt loops instead of five. A small detail, but one I appreciate. I expect to be wearing these for quite a while.

I ordered these jeans for my husband to wear to work because the reviews said they were strong and durable. And wow, are they ever! My husband is hard on his pants. During the four years we've been together I've repaired the crotch seam in every single pair of his pants, often more than once. But he's had these for seven months now, wears them practically every day, and they're still as good as new. Even the fabric in the pockets has stayed intact. The only issue I have with them is that they are made of very heavy denim, so they take forever to dry.'

Blackberry Pearl - tomtom, gps

It's hard to believe that your GPS doesn't go flying off the dashboard when using this weighted beanbag mount, but it absolutely doesn't. And it's much easier to use than a suction-cup mount, particularly if you live in an area where you need to remove or hide your GPS. Portable Friction Beanbag Dashboard Mount

This GPS pad works great. I use it for a Magellan 4000 GPS and it holds it securely on the dash of my Honda van and also on a Nissan truck. It does not slide around or move even when breaking hard or stopping suddenly. It is easy to set off the dash into the floor when I need to get out and leave the vehicle. I highly recommend this mounting pad if you don't want to have a GPS mounted to your windshield.

Great. The square shape fits perfectly in the square inlay of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a firm friction grip and doesn't tip over from the wight of my TomTom One XL (which is a large gps). The only thing with the product is that the suction cup from my TomTom usually has a firm suction to the windshield but did not stick well to this bean bag mount. I used the plastic adhesive disk that came with my TomTom and stuck it to this mount and now the suction cup holds perfectly.

If you are looking for a cheap mount this is the way to go. Material on the bottom feels frictiony if that makes sense, almost sticky but not. plastic on top is great for the suction cup. i was pleasantly surprised with this purchase. I had the old garmin bag mount which was wonderful and nice because i didn't have to worry about the suction cup. but my gps and mount were stolen along with my car, so i replaced it with this and i'm happy with it!

update

this thing has a tough time in cold weather. i have had it slide clear off the dash a few times when i turned a bit sharp. really not hard. my other mount didn't slide. once it warms up above 40 or so it sticks well and doesn't slide. but take caution if you live in a cold climate, this thing may go flying.

a dinosaur Garmin C330 which looks like a mini CRT TV. Although it only has a 3.5" screen, it is huge and heavy. This bean bag can hold almost any GPS provided it has a suction cup. It is pretty stable and has not slid from my dashboard ever since I started using it. Now I feel less distracted if I have to look at the GPS screen. I can focus my eyes in front of me by placing the GPS closer to me. The bottom surface has some kind of rubbery coating that grips firmly on any surface. We have been using the Garmin 3-rubber footed tripod before, on another C330 before it got stolen. This bean bag is less clunkier making it easier to carry from car to car. We have already given up on using the windshield where the GPS fell a number of times.

Looks:

Looks pretty nice, the color seems perfect for my gray/black, mahogany accented MDX dashboard. It is black underneath and dark burgundy on top. The sleek rectangular hard surface where you put the suction cup is black.

Size:

I don't think it is too big.

Very satisfied with this purchase. It works great.

I purchased this dash mount to use with my TomTomXXl 540S GPS unit. Not many mounts will work with TomTom's short mounting bracket & large 5" screen. Most that "would" work were expensive, or permanent. I also wanted it to be portable, to use in my other cars. Other mounting systems had mixed reviews, but this one seemed to fit the bill. Good reviews, cheep, couldn't be more simple to use!!! WOW!!! This product was the PERFECT SOLUTION!!! Fits my TomTom XXL 540S Like it was made for it, but I know it wasn't made for it because it dosn 't cost $$$$. When you put this mount on the dash, console, or wherever it stays there. It never moved on a 850 mi. trip thru the hair pin turns of the Sierra mountains and back country. I couldn't make this thing budge!! My dash is not very flat, but it dosn't matter. This is a bean bag design, so it conforms to most dash,or consoles. This has to be the best GPS friction mount on the market. I paid $9.95 on Amazon. Ordering was easy and delivery was very fast. I highly recommend this product.

Live in CA so can't attach the Magellan to the windshield, apparently. Did some research and decided this was probably the best value of the pads on the market. It's very stable on the dashboard because of its weight and the 'sticky' bottom-side. Construction looks sturdy and surface of the plastic plate provides an excellent seal with the suction cup on the GPS holder. The unit came within about three days after ordering it and that was with regular shipping. The size is a little bigger than I prefer but it would undoubtedly less stable if it was much smaller. All in all, it's meeting my expectations and the price was right.

I didn't know how well this pad would grip the dashboard. It has never slipped (even on a dusty dashboard) and leaves no marks. The convenience of the pad is that you can stow all signs of a GPS unit simply by unplugging the GPS and hiding the pad/GPS combination. With suction cup designs, unless you remove the window mounts, your are letting everyone know that you have a GPS in your car.

Art Supplies - drawing, art set

This set is perfect for begginners. I purchased mine and received it very quickly in order to complete a portfolio before my deadline. The set contained everything I needed for my drawings in graphite and charcoal.

The speed of delivery was exceptional and everything was in perfect condition when it arrived. The price was also very good. I would buy this again when I need to replace my old set. Pro Art 18-Piece Sketch/Draw Pencil Set

I am very pleased with the pencils in this set they draw beautifully, but I only give this product 3 stars because of the sharpeners, the charcoal sharpener is okay and sharpens the charcoal pencils cleanly, but the graphite pencil sharpener seems to be made of cheap plastic and it doesn't sharpen them as smoothly as it should. A good product if you already have or intend on purchasing a better pencil sharpener.

I have bought very expensive set of pencils that I do not like the way they 'feel' when I draw across paper, but these are smooth and comfortable I will be getting another set when I need them and I do not have to spend 20.00 or more on pencils or others I do not like.

For those who do not know about drawing pencils. There are different numbers and letters at the bottom of the pencils. I use the 2H for light sketching and to draw from the object to the vanishing point because the pencil is light on the paper and it erases easy. Then When I want to darken the lines I use the 2B which is the lightest of the B's for shading I use all the B's which are dark and for the darkest shadows I use 6B which gives the darkest shadow and good for stippling, (dots close together for dark shadowing and further apart for lighter shadowing).

I hope this makes sense for you. I am awful at explaining things.

Okay, so I ordered this kit on 1/4/11. I didn't expect it to be here in 2 days, because Amazon told me 4 days. It arrived at my doorstep in 2 days. No more. I opened it up, and was very excited about it. It had everything it said on the page, and it was just PERFECT for me. I immediately opened it up, and started drawing. I drew the best drawing of a Lamborghini that I had ever done, thanks to this kit. The kneaded eraser was perfect, although it us used up very fast (At least for me.) So that is my review, and if you are considering buying this, BUY IT. You won't be disappointed.

This is exactly what I was looking for. You'll get every type of pencil here. starting from 2h to 6B. extra benefit is you'll get eraser and sharpener ,plus charcoals. It's not only for beginners , proffesional can use it. I'll highly recommend this product.

Honestly, I'm far from the best artist and would hardly be the best judge of quality when it comes to a drawing utensil. For a beginner though, this set is an excellent launch point in learning to draw.

Wow!!! Ive had this product since 2010 and its still doing its job!!! I totally recommed this product for people who love to draw without the need of wasting too much money! For me I love drawing anime characters so getting these made me apreciate the work of anime artist everywhere even more!!!! - Sketching - Pencil - Drawing - Art Set'
