Graphic Novel - dark of the moon, megatron

I just want to say I bought this not knowing if I would finish it....and now I wish it wouldn't have ended! Great story, good character development. Believable actions by all in involved. The twins are there, in what I believe would be a redemptive role, however I hear that they were cut from the film. READ this just for their scene! It was really a moment I won't forget! I hope Hasbro will contract Peter David to do further novels that are original and continue this story. I would read EVERY SINGLE ONE! Thanks for reading this review and now BUY IT! As far as character devlopment, i thought it was very good for only having a total of 385 pages to tell a story. I hate to copy from other reviewers but if this is any indication of what the movie will be, IT WILL BE AMAZING! Bravo Ehren Kruger and Peter David!!!! and once I see the movie Michael Bay I am sure will have a shout out coming! I think I may read it again! Transformers Dark of the Moon

Since Amy posted such a perfect review before me, I will keep this short (primarily because I agree with everything she said). This novel is for true Transformers fans. It pays homage to generation 1 in so many ways, from a small group of Autobots defending Earth from a seemingly endless group of Decepticons, to even the way Optimus Prime develops into the iconic character we remember from the cartoon over 25 years ago. I do not believe movie-adaptation novels are usually worth reading, but Peter David did a fantastic job of recreating the film experience for readers. In fact, I would go on to say that the film has some pretty big shoes to fill; but, if it is even half as good as the book, it will be one of the best movies ever produced. If you seek an engaging storyline, dedication to the Transformers lore, and action sequences that will make go back and re-read what just happened, this is the book for you. However, do not be fooled by appearances... Just as Amy said before, this book shocks you with sorrowful moments, and fan-favorite Transformer deaths.

I have to think that when I started this novel I had some idea of what was going to happen, but I found myself like the autobots completely 'sideswiped' by this novel, by the actions of a select few that cause the whole dynamic of this epic war to shift into something far beyond just right and wrong. This is a classic G1 story line ripped from the past and retold in stellar detail. The science fiction is written in such a way that one could believe it and for what it's worth, you want hope beyond your heart that what's happening isn't really what's going on.

As you read this, it's clear something greater is at stake here, this isn't so much about the robots, but it's about Mankind, and their struggle to save their own. Yes the Transformers help them, but like the humans the transformers lose their own too. There are five autobot deaths written in this book, and for the sake of my review I won't spoil those for you, but the ache I felt after reading this, and though in the end the earth is saved, I was left feeling as heartbroken and sorrowfull as Prime himself, who truely becomes at the end of the novel the Prime we've been wanting to see, but have not in the Michael Bay Franchise.

If this is what the movie has in store for us this will be a BLOCKBUSTER, it will be shock and awe, and it will change the way some of the hardcore fans, like myself, look at Optimus Prime.

Til all are one; we are here, we are home.

The global civil war on Cybertron hits a pivotal moment when Deception Air Commander Starscream shoots down a key Autobot vessel with Optimus Prime inside that was carrying a special weapon that would tilt the fight to their side Optimus Prime knows his side just lost while the ship begins drifting through space.

In the 1960s, the Soviet Union and the United States engage in a race to the moon. Most earthlings assume it is a macho Cold War competition, but in fact it is a retrieval mission to bring back the Ark artifact space vessel found on the dark side of the moon. None of the astronauts are aware inside is a dormant sentient Autobot.

In DC, Sam seeks employment but having saved the world twice, he seeks meaningful work in a city of mirrors. His live-in girlfriend Carly works for art and car collector Dylan Gould. Also residing with the couple are Wheelie and Brains. However, the human will soon learn to watch out for what you wish for as the Decepticons though weakened after two encounters with Prime and Sam plot their next assault.

Although there is plenty of action and humor (a Peter David trademark) to follow, the movie that this novelization is tied to has not been released. The story line is fast-paced from the onset, but also uses a clever tie to the moon landings. Well written, Peter David who has successfully written novelizations of movie adaptations of comic book heroes like Spiderman (as well as other stuff like the Hulk comic book) provides an entertaining Transformer thriller that fans of the saga will appreciate.

Harriet Klausner

This book gives me hope for the upcoming movie. The story seems very crisp, and there were some points that really stunned me; one in particular made me sit up in my seat and take notice. In fact, I had to turn back and make sure I read what I thought I was reading.

In short, it was a great read, and I can't wait to see it all take place onscreen.

This story is worthy for just what it is. Shockwave is the main villain, but the book has all kinds of different characters that make the story the best of all the transformer stories. I give this book a thumbs up in the strongest possible way. Thank you Peter David for bringing the movie to us all. I will go see the movie when it comes out.

I want to thank the people who took the time to write their reviews, which convinced me to give this book a try after I had already seen the movie and disliked it. I wanted to see if the same material could have been done better. This book convinced me of two things: Peter David is a terrific writer, and Michael Bay is a complete hack. It is interesting that the battle scenes and action sequences are actually much more fun to read in this book than seen on the big screen. Last night, I had to stay up late to finish the last few chapters on the final battle. The movie was just loud and chaotic. It is amazing how so much money can be spent on special effects without being able to tell a coherent story. So, skip the movie and read the book. - Megatron - Hasbro - Dark Of The Moon - Graphic Novel'

Dewalt Battery - battery, rechargeable batteries

These have been fantastic. There seems to be no memory problems and so far have lasted for many charges. As stated earlier they have a better clip-in system, which is definitely an improve. But to be fair I only had the old XR batteries fall out once. The run time has also improved.

I highly suggest upgrading to the XRPs if you only have the old ones. But when purchasing them just buy the 2 pack. For about $20 to $25 more you get the second battery. DEWALT DC9096 XRP 18-Volt 2.4 Amp Hour NiCd Pod Style Battery

As the cordless tool leader, Dewalt recognized that their first line of 18volt battery pack had faulty clips. With this issue, they improved the design of the clips and boosted the performance of these batteries. Though the sliding battery packs maybe easier to use, it is good to know that Dewalt has not abandoned their design.

This drill is still my favorite in performance in what I do.

My DeWalt drill was dead for a long time and I was limping the batteries along with no results. It is too bad that DeWalt charges so much for new ones. Nonetheless, these XRP batteries have tons more power than the stock ones and seem to last much longer. I was able to get them at a much better price on amazon.com as well.

I'm perplexed by the troubles expressed by a few reviewers who are critical of the service life of Dewalt's 18-volt batteries. I've used many of these batteries, maybe 20 or so, in probably 10-12 different tools, flashlights, etc., over the past dozen years or so, and I've found they store a lot of power for a long period of time, recharge many, many times easily and consistently in any Dewalt charger, and work just as they're supposed to. Some of the older XR's have worn out after several years of use, but what batteries don't eventually wear out?

I don't baby my tools, but I do try to remember not to leave them in the garage over the winter and I try to remember to hit the conditioning button on the recharger every now and then. "Try" is an operative word in that sentence. I also don't do the fast-charging thing. I tend to slap them in and out of tools and chargers like I'm Rambo loading cartridges in a gun and in the course of doing so I occasionally drop them on concrete. (They bounce.) I use them nearly every day. I've never had a DOA, defect or short. They die only of old age, and I have yet to burn out an XRP.

They are more expensive than some, but I believe they provide good value. I rarely buy replacement batteries a la carte. I usually wait for a great price (from Amazon or an eBay seller) on a cordless tool I think I can use and buy it to get the two batteries and charger that come with it. I must have bought 4-5 drill-drivers this way over the years. You can sometimes get the tool for about $20-30 over the cost of the batteries alone. I've been less than thrilled with a few of the Dewalt 18v XRP tools I've bought this way (e.g., circular saw, jig saw, small vacuum) but most have been winners.

To M. Stevens: You say you're giving up on Dewalt's products and buying only Makita's from now on. In my limited experience, saying maker X is better than maker Y is a bogus dichotomy. I'm not talking about Festool versus Black & Decker; I mean tool lines in a comparable price range. You don't buy manufacturers. Unless you're Carl Icahn, you buy tools. In my opinion, for instance, excluding Festool and industrial tool-makers, Bosch makes the best barrel-grip jig saw and the best 6" RO sander, Milwaukee the best circular saw, Porter Cable the best table router, Dewalt the best 2-horse router, Fein the best detail sander, General the best drill press, Jet the best 18" bandsaw and oscillating sander, Powermatic the best 6" jointer and benchtop mortiser, and I could go on and on. These are my opinions, certainly not shared by all, but I think reasonable people do agree that each of these manufacturers makes some good tools and each makes some weaker performers too. Dewalt makes some of the best drill-drivers available, and also some decidedly mediocre ones. Makita makes some excellent small sanders but I don't like their job-site saws at all. Makita's drill-drivers have some exceptional design features that Dewalt and others should emulate, but some models have quality-control problems with the concentricity of their chucks. My point is that the world of tools is not as simple as choosing Dewalt or Makita, and indiscriminating allegiance to any manufacturer will not get you the best mix of quality tools.

Being a non-pro, I used to get the Craftsman 18V tools, but the battery always died after a year or so. And they are expensive to replace. the tools lasted ok. but what use are they if the battery cant hold a charge? The Dewalts outperform in power and battery life. Even though I do small jobs now and then, I want stuff that lasts. These do the job.

This DeWALT battery like all the ones I've had in the past works great. The longer life of the XRP packs are worth the extra cost. I'm very happy with my purchase. Amazon had the best price I could find on the net! - 18 Volt - Battery - Dewalt - Rechargeable Batteries'

This protection plan retails for half the price of the hardware itself. To put this into perspective this would be the same as Applecare for an mid-level Macbook pro 15" costing $1000. This protection is not necessary for an Apple TV, especially because there are really no moving parts and the device is made to sit and never move. Violin Case

I didn't see any reviews for this product when i ordered it but was willing to take my chances, and am very pleased with my decision. It is a well made case with plenty of room. I own an electric "Wood Violin-(Saber)" and needed a case that would protect as well as have a storage place for shoulder rest, rosin, tuner, etc. My Saber fits in this case perfect like the case was specifically made for this violin, and the lower storage compartment has plenty of room for my "kork' tuner and metronome still in there boxes. The storage compartment for the rosin is very small, but there was plenty of room in the lower storage compartment for that also. The storage compartment for the shoulder rest is a little tight, but then again the rest that I have is also a taller one due to the fact that this is an electric violin, I tried the "Kun" shoulder rest from my accoustic violin and it fits well. They also provide a very nice Padded cloth to go over top of the violin. The onlt thing I didn't care for was the means to hold the violin securely in place, rather than a secure velcro hold down they use just a thin piece of ribbon that you tie around the finger board, this seams to work okay, will see just how long it lasts. All and all I am very pleased with this product and would reccomend this pruduct to anyone looking for a nice case with a nice price. ViolinSmart Oblong Violin Case 4/4 Full Size (Green)

The case is OK for the money. As another reviewer also noted the space is too large for my 4/4 violin. I had to make some foam alterations to keep it from moving around too much. The build quality is only OK at best. If I were to make the purchase again I would spend a little more money on a better case.

In regards for space, it's very spacious for things like shoulder rest, tuner, rosins, etc... However, the quality of the product for the price of $75.00 is very poor. It's more like a $40.00 worth of quality. The picture looks very deceiving. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone for $75.00. You would be better of paying $30.00 or more to a local music store that sells better quality case.

This is in general a good case for the money. The problem I experience is that the space is too big for my full-size violin. My violin has too much room to jiggle inside the case. I have to use a little wash cloth to keep the violin in place.

This is a very nice case, with a beautiful interior. Love that it has a hard handle and seems very sturdy. This was one of our complaints with the last case. The only thing my daughter dislikes is that there is only one little ribbon to hold the violin in place and even when tied tightly it doesn't feel very secure!. We are trying to come up with a solution for this. Overall we are very pleased, especially for the great price.'

Canon A1000is

I bought this camera about 15 days back. I have used it a couple of times indoors, outdoors and indoors with low-light conditions.

Used correctly, this camera does a great job of taking good quality images. I had to play with the camera for about 15-20 mins to get familiar with it so I could take the best pictures possible. My sister owned a Powershot A530 before this one and i had the same experience with that too.

This camera fits nicely in your jeans pocket and is quite light.

You will need a tripod to take good low-light shots. I have a cat and a rabbit and a 3 yr old nephew - The kids and pets setting really works well to take pictures of them. Generally the few manual settings it does have are good enough for a serious amateur photographer.

One gripe I do have is that with regular AA alkaline batteries the flash recycle time can go up to 8 seconds and the camera is blank and unusable during this time. This of course is a problem with most canon Powershots. The solution I have found is to use batteries made specifically for taking pictures (Duracell makes some) or just use rechargeable NiMH batteries. This works great. Almost down to 1 sec between shots with that.

Overall I'd definitely recommend this camera to anyone. But you have to be a little patient and get used to it first - I think this is true for any good camera out there though. Canon Powershot A1000IS 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Grey)

This camera takes excellent pictures. I particularly like the Optical Image Stabalization, Motion sensor, and face recognition. I only make 4 X 6 prints. So far no problems. The pet/children mode does a good job of stopping action.

I've used the optical viewfinder a couple of times. It doesn't show 100% of the picture, but it sure makes a difference in extreme sunlight.

Sometimes it is necessary indoors to increase the ISO in order to increase the flash distance (easily done with a button). I still get great pictures. I know some reviewers blow the pictures up and indicate the noise in the picture. It's just not evident in normal picture prints. I'm sure there would be obvious noise if I was using high ISOs. Battery life is great also. I use Lithium AAs. They last so long there is no need to use recharageable batteries.

The only thing I definately miss is a button to delete "ALL" pictures. There's a button for individual deleting, but you have to use the menu to detete all. I guess you could look at it as a safety feature, making it hard to accidentially delete all your pictures.

There is a lack of manaul controls, but I never used the manual controls in my prior cameras.

The camera size will fit into a pocket, even though I prefer using a case that fits on my belt. I would highly recommend this camera to others.

I got this camera a few weeks ago to replace a previous Canon digital camera (the A540) that I absolutely loved. So far I've been very happy with this one, with one glaring exception - not specifically about the camera itself, but rather the software that comes with it.

I'm an amateur photographer and find that this type of point-and-shoot works well for me - especially since it has a 4x optical zoom which gives clearer, more vivid photos. I really like how easy the Canon cameras are to use and the range of features - and this one doesn't disappoint. I also like the 2.5" LCD and the fact that this camera is small enough to easily fit in a pocket or purse. It's really very versatile and I love that about it.

The only things that I really can complain about are that I do somewhat miss the chunky handgrip on my previous Canon, but that's not a huge deal. What IS a huge deal, for me anyway, is their 'updated' version of the Camera Window software that comes with this camera. This is the software that you run to download photos from the camera - and I can't believe how horrible this particular version is. The previous version that I used with my other Canon camera was great - it was windows-based and you could select any photos on your card then download, print or delete them as you wished. However, in this new version - it's got a black interface, no text by the icons to tell you what they do - and there is no way to delete the photos from your card. I e-mailed Canon to double-check and was told that yes, this is the case - you have to use Windows Explorer to delete your photos. Why I would want to use two different programs when before I could easily use just one is beyond me... I'm going to re-install the old version that I have and hope that it will work with this camera, because I am incredibly annoyed with the new version right now.

Other than the software issue, I love this camera and think that it's a very good choice for someone who wants a camera that takes a great quality photo and is easy to use and carry around. I only hope that Canon will re-think the Camera Window decision - I'm a loyal Canon enthusiast, but am very disappointed in them right now.

Unfortunately not many point-and-shoot cameras have optical viewfinders anymore and that's a shame. This camera DOES have an optical viewfinder and that helps it to stand above the crowd. It also has an LED screen but such screens are nearly impossible to see in bright sunlight. Holding a camera at arm's length to compose a picture on a screen can introduce shake and cause blurry photos. Therefore, for many, using an optical viewfinder is a much better option.

Since this camera has an optical viewfinder, image stabilization, face recognition and a 10 megapixel sensor an amateur photographer who is using this camera can take superior photographs in good light that will yield sharp 8 1/2 X 11 prints. Although I usually use a digital SLR, I must say that I'm impressed with the quality of the images that this camera delivers...especially considering its low price, small size and 7-ounce weight. With rechargeable or lithium AA cells, battery life is excellent and recycle times are short.

The July 2009 issue of Consumer Reports features a cover photo of this camera and ranks it just below a $450 camera in its "compact camera" ratings. On their recommendation and after doing considerable comparison shopping and reading other reviews, I bought this camera for my stepson. However, before I gave it to him, I took many photos under varied conditions to ensure that it would be adequate for his needs. I was so impressed that I'll probably get one for myself.

The fact that I could favorably compare the photos from this camera with those from my much more expensive digital SLR was remarkable, but there are inevitable limitations. There are no manual settings for exposure or focus. The 4X optical zoom may not give as much range as some photographers need and the effective flash distance is limited. The sensor has excellent dynamic range, but introduces noise in the pictures when they're taken in low light with ISO settings above 100.

A couple of AA batteries are included with the camera, but you'll soon need more and better ones. A small 32MB SD card is included but a much bigger SD card or cards will be needed if you want to store more than seven or eight full-resolution photos. Therefore, your initial investment will need to be larger than the base price of the camera for it to perform up to expectations. Nonetheless, when considering the price, small size and very good image quality I believe this camera will meet or exceed the expectations of all but the most demanding amateur photographers.

About a year after I bought and evaluated this camera, I bought Canon's replacement for this model; the Powershot A1100IS, for my wife. It is about the same size and price as this camera was last year but offers more pixels a bigger included memory card, more sophistication but retains the optical viewfinder. Check out the A1100IS. It's even better.'

Jewelry - blue topaz, garnet

I just received the necklaces in the mail today and wow, they are beautiful. The stones are much larger than I expected, which is wonderful.

I got this set during the 30% off sale, so I only paid $7.60 for each. Yeah, and you can't beat that with a stick. Sterling Silver Peridot, Garnet, Amethyst, Blue Topaz and Citrine Pendant Set, 18"

These are beautiful, and I feel very proud to give them to my niece for her 21st birthday, an occasion which requires an extra-special gift; however, there are a couple of things the buyer should know:

First, the sterling silver chain is about the thinnest and most delicate I've ever seen, so this is not for someone who doesn't care for things well or is clumsy. Also, the colors of the amethyst and the blue topaz, and to a lesser degree, the citrine, are not true on the website. The blue topaz almost looks clear. Only in the light can you get the traces of blue, and the amethyst is very light as well. The peridot is gorgeous, and the garnet is a dark stone to begin with, so that's not a problem. They did not come in blue pouches, as was specified; rather, they came in five small black boxes which were put together with a white cardstock sleeve in a long strip. I ordered the matching earrings as well, and they do match perfectly. Be aware that nowhere on the boxes does it tell what the stones are or that it is sterling silver, or any information whatsoever.

So, except for the washed out color on a couple of the stones, I am thrilled, especially with the price (I also got the 30% discount).

I am pleasantly surprised by the colors of the pendants, which more or less match the product image (although in sunlight, my citrine pendant appears more golden yellow than the orange-yellow in the product image, and the blue topaz is more of a watery sky blue, but not so pale that you can't tell it is a blue topaz). Some of the other reviewers mentioned the pendants being bigger than they expected, so I included some measurements for all five pendants. The width is measured for the widest point.

Garnet: 18x5mm; stone alone: 9x5mm

Citrine: 18x6mm; stone alone: 8x6mm

Amethyst: 16x8mm; stone alone: 8mm

Blue Topaz: 17x6mm; stone alone: 9x6mm

Peridot: 17x7mm; stone alone: 7mm

All except the peridot appear flawless to the eye, and even the wisp of inclusion in the peridot pendant is barely visible in sunlight (the color is a bit darker than shown in the product image, a brilliant apple green). I got them for under 8 dollars per pendant, but even at full price, the quality of the pendants makes purchasing this set worth it.

The necklaces are very nice. The stones are set well and just the right size to wear. The chains are weak. I have broken two of them already. But for the price, just having the pendants to wear with a better chain I already have, it was well worth the purchase.

This set was given as a gift from my children to their mom. The citrine stone has a large crack/chip in the back that is magnified when looking through the front. This ruins the piece! Where is the quality control? When this stone was set, what was the jeweler thinking? As soon as you look at it your eyes are drawn to the defect. Not Good! Now the problem is ours, it seems we cannot echange just one piece of this set. We have to send the entire set back and hope we recieve a quality set in return. Some may think this is harsh, but this is not some machine made piece. A person held this in their hand, saw the defect, and shipped it anyway! Shame on you Amazon for letting defective jewerly be sold from your own collection, and bringing sadness to my children!

I have to agree with other reviewers that the colors are not as strong as they appear in the picture. That being said, however, they do have nice color to them. The chains are very delicate and pretty.

The necklaces all come packed in a long white sleeve (inside are the 5 black boxes). So, you could give these all as one gift or split them up.

All in all, worth the sale price. Recommend.

Purchased this set of necklaces as a Christmas Gift for my sister. Although I was tempted to give them to multiple ladies, I decided to leave it as is. The gems surpassed my expectations. For the price, I thought they'd be really tiny, look cheap and be dull and was half tempted to order something else just in case, however, I was proved wrong. Each gem is a nice piece, shines well, and sets beautifully a few inches from the collar bone. The chains are a bit thin so if you're concerned about the roughness of the user, buy a back up just in case.

I purchased four sets to give as gifts to our office personnel. Everyone was very happy with the pendants and wore them to work the next day. They are a good value, and look like they cost more than they did.The chains are a little delicate, but you can not expect more at this price.

After reading the other reviews, I was a bit worried. I just got them today and they are beautiful. All except the Citrine match the product images. The citrine is more yellow than orange, but I love the color. It reminds me of a sunrise. The chains seem flimsy, but if you're careful, they shouldn't break. - Amethyst - Necklaces - Garnet - Blue Topaz'

Monitor Stand - 2009 amazon frustration-fre, stands

If you own a laptop and use an external LCD monitor or you are just looking to sneak some small peripherals or desk accessories beneath your monitor or an inkjet printer, look no further. The MetalArt Jr. is a classy alternative to molded plastic stands intended for beafier CRT monitors. I ordered the product to use as a stand for a 17" LCD monitor. Not only does it raise the monitor to the ideal height, but it is spaced perfectly to store my IBM T40 laptop and docking station neatly beneath. The perforated metal at the top of the stand allows air to flow freely and keeps both the laptop and monitor cool. The description doesn't give the dimensions of the stand, which are very important since its size is not traditional, so I'll list them here (from the manufacturer): 11" x 15" x 4.5". Allsop 27021 Metal Art Jr Monitor Stand (Pewter)

This is a terrific (and relatively inexpensive) monitor stand, particularly if your desk space is limited; the design allows things to be slid under it. However, Amazon's photo is slightly misleading. The stand is not a silver color (or "pewter" as the item description says); it's a light gray-green.

The Allsop MetalArt Jr. is an amazing laptop stand, especially considering how low the price is compared to many other laptop stands. ($50+ for a piece of bent metal? No thank you.)

I use this in conjunction with my MacBook connected to a keyboard and mouse for when I'm at my desk. Not only does it put the MacBook's screen at a more comfortable level, but it also has plenty of room underneath for tape dispensers, staplers, books, or even an external hard drive.

It's very well built and sturdy, and my MacBook has been running between 4-5º C cooler, which, for a notebook, is quite a substantial amount of heat dissipation. The stand is a stylish gunmetal gray, and is sure to make any desk-bound notebook computing much more bearable.

Ugh. Just got this in the mail from Amazon. As another reviewer mentioned, it is NOT chrome-plated or even painted silver. It is sort of baby-poop green. It will not match your monitor, keyboard, etc. unless painted.

Even worse, it is NOT FLAT. I put my wide-screen LCD on it, and the weight does not appear to be an issue, but since the monitor has a wide, round base and the metal of the stand is bowed, it wobbles from side to side.

Bottom line: it doesn't meet the basic quality criteria for a monitor stand. I will not be buying any more products from Mr. Allsop.

I bought this stand to support my 15" laptop. What's important is that there is room on the underneath sides for your hand(s) to slide over and quickly grab a mouse/tablet/pen. In other words, there are no front legs to get in your way; just really long feet, FTW. With this stand I can fit my small (Happy Hacking) keyboard right under my laptop, between the feet. Unfortunately, this stand is pretty short, ~3". So hands barely fit on keyboard sitting underneath. However, the metal is just pliable enough that, with all my strength, I was able to bend the legs down ~2". Now I have 5" clearance for my hands, and the laptop (and screen) are at a more comfortable viewing height (with a dry-eraser propping the back to make level). It's also nice that now my unused laptop built-in keyboard can serve as a mini-table for documents or whatever.

This stand is probably strong enough to sit on, and I'm sure it's the cheapest you'll find for this purpose. And with a little man-handling it's adjustable to whatever size you need.

This works perfectly with my 17" flat screen monitor. It's exactly what I wanted. It's about 14.5 x 11 x 4.5. I would have bought the larger size for a larger space, but this is great with the small space I have to work in.

I bought this stand for my monitor, with the intention of putting my laptop beneath. I works great for this. My Macbook is a 13 in (space beneath is ~14'' (btwn the legs) by 10''--in case you're wondering; but your laptop could always stick out a little in front or behind). Some reviewers didn't like the color; it's not silver, more of a grey-olivey color, but it doesn't look bad by any means. (I think it just depends upon what you're expecting.) It's very stable, doesn't move or wiggle around, even if I bump my desk (which I do often). I like it very much and would recommend it to others. My computer gets plenty of circulation. Plus you can't beat the price.

I found this stand to be both very sturdy -- I haven't detected any wobbling whatsoever and I'm a fairly 'aggressive' keyboardist -- and of a perfect size/height to support + raise my Dell 21" flat panel. It's true, as others have noted, that the color has a very slight greenish cast to it, but nowhere near so noticeable as to be considered "baby-puke-green" or "canteen-colored." At least, not the one I just received a few weeks ago.

The space beneath, between the Allsop's legs, is 13-3/8" wide, enough to accommodate my 15" HP ProBook (which is 13-1/4" wide), but my 17" Dell Studio laptop has to rest on top of the legs. However, I have to put a 1/4" to 1/2" thick catalog underneath the 15" laptop, so that the USB ports along the left & right sides can be used without risking the connections being bent or stressed. If I didn't raise the laptop up like that, the Allsop's legs would prevent me from safely connecting anything to the USB ports. But, if you have a docking station, and all the connections are in the back of it, this may not be a problem.

For the price, this is definitely a great buy.

I got this so I could place my 20" LCD HDTV on top of my xbox 360. The space underneth is PERFECT for this use. The dimentions are just slightly bigger than the xbox by still enough to allow plenty of air flow.

It also is quite sturdy an could hold a fairly heavy TV or monitor.

As for looks, it rather simple and not going to "go with" many decores! But works great and I would highly recommend it! - Stands - 2009 Amazon Frustration-fre - Lcd Monitor Stand - Laptop Stand'

Under Cabinet Tv - kitchen tv, kitchen

I did my homework on these units. There are not many of these under counter all in one tvs left. So my score is in comparison to what is out there.

Pros

* Big screen - this is a nice feature as most units have much smaller screens

* Plays DVDs - I have no problems with this feature

* Has good reception - All my channels come in fairly good (Cable TV/FM/AM)

* Cheapest of all units with this screen size.

* Magnetic remote for the fridge. I have heard people complain about this feature because it is not strong enough to hold the remote up. I am guessing that is because they have a stainless steel fridge which has less magnetic for the most part in comparison to a standard metal finish.

Cons

* Picture quality is not so great. I think this is because of the slow response time of the screen. I also noticed that the picture was much better when a HD signal was present.

* Selecting presets is difficult. This is by far the biggest issue for me. It is not easy to select your favorite channels. I have also noticed that selecting presets is done differently between the tv and the radio.

* When the timer is on I have not figured out a way to see it count down. So until it goes off you have no idea how much time is left.

* Remote does not make it across the room. I tested it and it goes about 10 feet. In reality how much farther will you view a 15 inch screen from?

* You really need the remote to use this unit. I am sure there is a way to use the buttons on the unit but the remote is much easier. I Wish they would have done preselects on the unit.

Summary

Not a bad unit, but if picture is important to you then this is not the unit for you. I am not sure the other units are any better in fact most of these units look to come from the same design. I assume they have updated the screen for vendors like RCA but not sure. IF you are looking for a simple inexpensive unit that has a big screen then it is not a bad option. I have had the unit for 2 months and no problems yet. We watch the news every day while making dinner. Venturer KLV3915 15.4-Inch Undercabinet Kitchen LCD TV/DVD Combo

Nice big screen. No problems so far and have been using it about 6 weeks. I shopped and this was the best choice I could find for a TV/DVD/CD combo. Sound is loud enough although it could be a little higher fidelity when using as a CD player. It's a trade off worth making to be able to save the space and have a screen you can actually see from more than a foot away. I recommend it.

this replaced a slightly larger screen my sons insisted on twisting everytime the went to the kitchen table... every 2 or 3 days I'd have to push it back to protect it from falling onto the floor.

The Venturer screen is the largest I've seen. The 270 degree swivel means it can go to either side... even though it turned opposite the way we usually watch it, getting it face on to the table left of the screen as we look at it from the front is no problem.

Picture quality and sound are great. DVD is built in, & works without problem.

I have only 2 even minor issues:

1st... CAUTION when installing... our cabinet was shallow enough there was nearly not enough room to fix it in place... I had to drill a 2nd set of holes 1/2" forward of where the paper template said holes should be drilled, so PUT THE UNIT UP BEFORE YOU DRILL TO MAKE SURE IT FITS!!!

2nd... the remote IR sensor is at the front of the unit... including when the screen is turned left or right. We have at times found it impossible to change the station or volume from where we were sitting... a mirror on the fridge has helped in our case.

All in all, it was a great investment... saves us counter space, is better protected than the set it replaced, & went up without a real hitch of significance.

I researched under-counter TVs for way too long before deciding to go with this TV. For those of you in the same boat, here are my thoughts.

I've had it for 3 or 4 months now. I use it mainly to watch the news while I eat breakfast, and occasionally to show a DVD for the kids while they eat.

Pros

* Large screen. I absolutely 100% recommend getting a screen this size. I was worried it would come too close to the counter top, but this is not the case. It's easily viewed from the side and it rotates in all directions (but gets dark if viewed from a low angle). The HD picture looks great and you can see it without being right up next to it.

* Sound. It gets plenty loud to watch TV while washing dishes. I don't play a lot of music on it, but I have and it sounds fine to me. Obviously not a sound system, but it's better than a drive-thru speaker.

* Size. It has a very slim profile. I had a little trouble with it being slightly bigger than my cupboard is deep, but I was able to put it right up against the wall and it sticks out maybe a half inch.

Meh

* Quality. The screen feels kind of like wimpy plastic, but we don't put it under any stress and it's survived lots of openings and closings so far. My screen had one dead pixel out of the box.

* Installation. The paper screw guide works pretty well, but I'd still get out a tape measure to double check, especially if jamming it in like I did. The plug for the coax cable is indented, so you have room to bend the cord and get it out while flush against the wall, but the power cord is not (bad design), so I had to smash that in to get it as flush against the wall as I could. I get over-the-air HD signal from an attic antenna that I route through my cable-wired house, so I just had to plug into the wall. If you're plugging into a wall coax socket, invest in a right angle adapter (Radio Shack, etc) so your cord doesn't stick way out. I have a small lip on my cupboard, so I used the extenders, and the extra space it gives works out well as a place to put extra lengths of cord and the AM and FM antennas so they aren't in sight.

* Style. This was not my favorite under-counter TV as far as style goes, but it doesn't look bad installed.

Cons

* Remote. The remote is magnetic and sticks very well to my fridge. Unfortunately, the remote is kind of essential (see below) and the TV is not close to the fridge, so that's not so great of a feature. You also have to point right at the front (of the console, not the screen) to get it to work. Not the greatest quality.

* Speed. It takes an annoyingly long time to change channels, like a couple seconds, which means you can't just channel up and down with the console, you have to type in the channel with the remote. (One "pro" in this "con" is that for HD channels you can just type 11 and it will default to 11.1) Switching between functions (TV/DVD/Radio) is also pretty slow, and although the button looks like three buttons, it's only one and you have to cycle through.

For me, this TV has worked out very well and I have no regrets. I agree with the lamentations of others that this market needs to better players, but from what's out there, I would guess this is one of the better ones. - Kitchen - Undercabinet Tv - Drop Down Tv - Kitchen Tv'
