Adapter - compaq ac adapter, laptop power adapter

I've had a Compaq Armada e500 laptop for a long time now and this is my fourth power cable. Mind you, this has nothing to do with the quality of the part, I own cats and cats like to chew cords.

One complaint I've had with previous replacements is the length of the cable. The original cord seemed to be infinitely long such that I could go almost anywhere in a room and still be plugged in. Other replacement cables seemed to always be a few inches short. Not so with this one. While it isn't quite as long as the original, it is long enough to get the job done.

The reason I give this cable 4 out of 5 stars is simply that the brick itself does get fairly warm when in use. Other cables have gotten downright hot so this one is an improvement, but none of the aftermarket units dissipate heat like the original cable.

If you own a compatible laptop and need a replacement a/c adapter, go ahead and pick this one up. HP 65W Smart AC Adapter PPP09L

I have a Compaq EVO N610C and I was looking for a replacement AC Adapter to work in Caracas, Venezuela. This adapter works fine and charge battery, but I took out three stars because it is rated 18V & 2.5 Amp = 45W and seller did not show this technical information in big letters. It is not the exact replacement for original 65W charger, rated 18V & 3.6 Amp from Compaq.

This charger is extremely cheap. Although the sticker on the charger indicates it is the replacement part number for HP's charger, I'm not so sure I believe that. It is made of cheap parts, cheap plastic, cheap plugs and has a cheap transformer inside. I paid less than two bucks for this charger, and within a week, the plug broke inside the laptop. The box itself got so hot it melted. You get what you pay for. And since it was under two dollars, it's not worth paying return shipping on it to send it back. I already paid eight dollars to get it here.

this product worked perfect!! used for a compaq c700 laptop. the only negative is the cord isnt as long as the original but for the price, it is well worth it!! It worked so well that I bought an extra one because the price was low so i have one for livingroom and bedroom.

The 1st cord that was sent was broken. They sent me another one immediately w/out me having to return the broken one. The 2nd one they sent wouldn't power the laptop and after looking it was not on the list for replacement cords for the laptop. This cord has been sent back to them today at my cost. I am awaiting a credit.

It's HP's fault, not the manufacturer of this product, but it doesn't matter. It won't work for your 17-inch dv7 laptop.

HP originally sold the dv7 with an underpowered 65-watt adapter. The HP replacement adapter is 90-watts. No 65-watt replacement adapter will work. Order a 90-watt adapter for a different model, or give the ******** at HP $70 for their replacement (which is 90-watts). HP should have recalled them. I have gone through 1 12-volt car adapter, and 3 65-watt replacement adapters for mine, but none work. For all, the computer says, "plugged in, but not charging" and the battery quickly dies. Save yourself a lot of headache and expense, and just buy a 90-watt adapter for your 17-inch laptop.

Here is the HP original equipment link:

Here is the HP replacement parts link:

Note how the original equipment has a 65-watt ac adapter, but the HP replacement part is 90-watts.

Here is what you really need:

HP 90W Smart Pin Dongle AC Adapter (KG298AA)

This was a replacement to my original compaq power cord that lasted three years and two tours in Iraq, plus numerous other trips around the US. The price was better than fair, it shipped relatively quickly from the States to where I'm stationed, and it was very well packaged. It does what i need it to, and fits nice and snug to my laptop's power receptacle. I did also purchase a laptop surge protector, as power here is thoroughly unpredictable. The velcro cord-keeper is also a nice touch. - Hp - Compaq Ac Adapter - Charger - Laptop Power Adapter'

Digital Voice Recorders - olympus, olympus digital recorders

I just ordered this Olympus VN-8100PC digital voice recorder a few days ago and so far it has worked pretty good. I had an older digital voice recorder, but it didn't have a USB port, so I couldn't transfer files to my PC which is what I wanted, so I bought this. I've made several recordings and transferred them to my PC and they sound good, all you do is plug it into a USB port on your computer and then you can access this device just like a USB thumb drive.

I decided to go with this one because the older Olympus model VN-6200PC on Amazon has over a hundred reviews that are mostly all positive, and this one is simply an updated more advanced model with 2GB of memory instead. I checked the Olympus website and this one is very close to the 6200PC model that everybody loves, but with more features and an easier looking layout. The most important difference is the ability to record in MP3 format, the 6200PC can only record in WMA format. Also this one has 2GB of memory, so you can record for a long time, and if the memory fills up you can just transfer the files off the device to your computer.

As far as the layout of the on screen menu settings and buttons on the device, it is super easy. I didn't even read the instruction manual to figure everything out, I just played around with it for a few minutes and everything was pretty much self explanatory, it's designed so anybody can use it without having to click through a bunch of settings and crap just to get it to work.

If you buy this device, one very handy accessory to get is the Olympus TP-7 Telephone Recording Device. It sells here on Amazon for $[...] or so and has a ton of reviews all rating it very positive. I bought it with mine and it works perfectly, I recorded a phone conversation earlier today to test it out and it worked great. The main purpose of buying this digital voice recorder was really to record phone conversations using the TP7. All you do is plug the TP7 into the mic input on your digital voice recorder, and then put the ear piece into your ear and when you are on the phone talking to someone hit "record" then when you are done hit "stop" and that is it. The Olympus digital recorders only record in mono, so that means when you play back your phone conversation on your computer speakers/headphones you will only hear sound from one speaker/headphone, but that really isn't a problem or big deal since it's only a conversation you're listening too and not music.

As a side note, hopefully more people realize the VN-6200PC is an old model and do not buy it instantly just because it has a ton of good reviews. I almost did that until I went to the Olympus website and realized this 8100PC model was newer and better then the 6200PC and cost pretty much the same.

If this review helped you, leave a comment or something :) Olympus VN-8100PC Digital Voice Recorder 142600 (Silver and Black)

First bought the Sony that Amazon has at #1- it was actually not good in the fact that it picked up Iphone or other RF interference and ruined 2 of my recordings. Than I tried other Olympus recorders, and found them ok, but I really wanted stereo output and good battery life with little hissing. The Sony had A LOT of hiss in the recording. This one once you turn on the filter in playback eliminates practically all the hiss. Trust me I went through like 5 recorders before settling on this little guy. The only thing I wish it had was a way to add to a recording. Once you stop you have to record a new file, so be sure to just Pause. Probably the most amazing thing about this recorder is the battery life- While the Sony 820 ate up my batteries in one week of classes, this thing hasn't even dropped a bar out of 3!!! Very impressed. Sometimes it takes some searching, but don't buy the top two sellers when you can get this for the same price.

You won't regret it! Plus the Sony comes with NO CASE!!!! I would of liked headphones, but that is not a big deal, the case that comes with this is so needed. Sony, I'm a little disappointed that your product wasn't even close to what Olympus put out.

I bought this recorder for 2 reasons:

1: to record meetings in a room about 20x30 with all tile floors and

2: because it recorded in MP3 mode.

Ive had Olympus brand recorders in the past and they've been perfect. This is my first recorder with downloadable files. It does either MP3 or WMA files. With me owning a MAC it's MUCH easier with the MP3 files. I can download each meeting and add to my iPhone with ease and always have those meetings with me to reference. It's a great little recorder but when the speaker gets across the room it becomes hard to hear him on the recorder.

I purchased the MW52 Olympus microphone here on Amazon as well to hopefully improve he recordings. A HUGE improvement on voice pick up!!! I highly recommend this combo for any meeting setup! - Mac Compatible - Olympus Digital Recorders - Digital Voice Recorders - Olympus'

Video Games - mmorpg, blizzard

This game is, quite simply, the best Fantasy MMORPG I have ever encountered. Having played during the entire 11 day Stress Test, I can honestly say it will probably be around even longer than EverQuest. This work of art has all the magic of EQ, without the many frustrations that finally caused me to give up on EQ (such as extreme grind, a very punitive death penalty, and being forced to group at high levels).

The graphics in WoW are awesome. Some people complain about the "cartoonish" colors, etc. I find these graphics to be very pleasing to the eye, and extremely well detailed and arranged. Guess this just shows that it isn't possible to please everyone, particularly those who go out of their way to find a flaw in other people's creations. To me, it is just right.

I won't elaborate on the basics of the game, such as the 8 races and 9 classes. Others have already covered them. Rather, I will focus on some other areas that are important to older players (I will soon be 60 years old, and no longer have the lightning-fast hand to eye coordination and sharp vision I once enjoyed).

There appeared to be no need for extremely quick reflexes in this game, but instead a player needs to use strategy and planning to avoid getting in over one's head. The wonderful hotkey bar across the entire bottom of the screen was very helpful and well thought out. Kudos to Blizzard for making such a great interface. The screen is not all cluttered up like it is in most games.

The game runs on a 24-hour clock, so it is dark nearly half the time. Blizzard wisely chose to not make the game black as night in most locations. It is possible to play effectively in caves and other usually extremely dark areas, without benefit of an external light. I thought this was a very wise decision and really enjoyed playing in those locations for the first time ever in an MMORPG. Some players complain that it is too bright. I would say to them: Turn down your Gamma control in the game if you like. Many of us do not have your young night-vision, and we are paying customers too. I think that Blizzard got this part just right.

The quest system in this game is better than I have ever seen. I actually liked doing quests, something I haven't previously enjoyed. Also, quests give lots of experience, and since they can usually be done on a casual basis, they don't require the same level of one-track focus that they do in other games I have played.

During this "way too short" Stress Test, I decided to try a variety of different characters and locations, so played the following characters: Night Elf Druid, lvl 12; Tauren Hunter, lvl 13; Human Mage, lvl 8; Human Warlock, lvl 6; Gnome Warlock, lvl 6; Troll Shaman, lvl 6. Unfortunately, I have a full-time job and could only devote about 40 hours a week to the game. The initial leveling rate is quite quick, with it slowing down a lot at about level 12. Just about right, IMO.

The game is bug-free, for the most part. It is way more bug-free than SWG is even today. I would be willing to pay a subscription now, if it would "get me my game back!". There are only two problems I see with this game:

1. Even though the Stress Test ended at 6pm Sunday evening, three days later I am still going through withdrawal and still have no desire to play on my two City of Heroes and three SWG accounts.

2. World of Warcraft is still not out, so my pre-ordered copy hasn't arrived, nor do I know when that will happen. The sooner, the better, IMO. There is no doubt in my mind that this game will be way more popular that EQ2, which I also plan to try. Hopefully WoW will arrive first.

I for one really appreciate these Reviews that Amazon has. I find them very helpful. The only problem I see with them is that there are only FIVE stars in the rating system. This is a shame, for World of Warcraft certainly deserves a TEN. World of Warcraft

I just spent the last week playing the World of Warcraft Stress Test Beta, and I can tell you that it was better than I expected. Even though the game wasn't finished, it still has many features that make it head and shoulders above every other MMORPG I've played.

Now, I, like many others, have been waiting in ancicipation for this game to come out, and when I had the chance to play the stress test, I was elated. Considering the majority of my MMOG experience is in EverQuest, I will list a few of the improvements (at least what I see as improvements) over the MMORPG "norm."

1) Experience from completing quests is noticable, and the rewards from completing them are worthwhile. I was always frustrated with EverQuest's quest structure, and the only reason to do a quest was for the item quested for, not for the experience gain. In WoW, it is possible to gain more experience from completing a quest than from killing a monster.

2) Experience progress is anything but vague. Every time a character kills a monster or completes a quest, the experience points are clearly given, and a meter with the character's progress within a level is clearly marked with numbers. So it's impossible not to tell how much experience killing a monster was worth. No more questionable meters with random values.

3) The world is easy to get around in. And it doesn't take an hour to get where you need to be, if you know where you're going. This was one of my biggest problems with EverQuest, because, as a semi-casual player, sometimes I don't have the time to run for an hour to complete a quest, or, in some cases, die, then have to make a corpse run and take twice as long as it originally was supposed to take. Which leads me to my next point.

4) Death is reasonable. If your character dies, its ghost spawns at the NEAREST graveyard, so there is no need to manually bind your character somewhere. Also, there is no XP loss if you choose to run your character over to its corpse. In my opinion, the death system is one of the best, as you can choose to lose XP by ressurecting right at the graveyard, or just run to your character's corpse and revive there with no experience loss. And before you can ressurect your character in a graveyard, it will let you know exactly how much XP will be lost. This replaces the 3 hours of grinding time needed to replace the lost XP.

5) An XP grind is perfectly possible, but not necessary. It is very possible to level up consistently without having to play for 5-7 hours a day. Between XP from killing monsters and the great quest completion XP, I was able to level a character to 17 in 3 days of semi-casual play. Now granted, those were the first 17 and the easiest, but it's also possible to gain a level a day, almost unheard of in EverQuest.

To make a long story short, this will be a great game, but there is still a lot of work needed to make it release-ready. Since there is no official word yet on its release, I wouldn't hold my breath, but it's certainly something to keep an eye on.

Mens Groomer - mens grooming, body groomer

Super impressed at the ability of this device to just mow through my back forest. I'm Italian and my hair is thick and wirey and the Mangroomer didnt have any problems getting the job done. Cool. The black rubber is a nice touch and gives you grip to go from any angle under the arms too. Overall I am happy I bought it. Mangroomer Sku 211-6 Professional Do-it-yourself Electric Back Hair Shaver

I'm a hairy dude, and my back hair is thick and I've tried everything over the years to keep it trimmed short of permanent hair removal (which I would totally do if it were more affordable). The only method that would keep things relatively neat was get a friend/girlfriend to trim with haircut clippers (no guard) and then shave with a blade razor if I wanted it especially smooth. Body trimmers I've tried did not work on my thick hair, creams take several painful and smelly applications, waxing made me break out and doesn't last long enough, until I found the Mangroomer I thought I would have to spent summers with my shirt on.

This product is awesome, not only does it tame the wild forest that is my back, but I can use it alone which makes the process of keeping myself neatly groomed much less embarassing for me. I love it.

I must admit that I never really write reviews, but I just had to after using the new pro back-shaver. I received this as a gift and really didn't know if I would use it at first. Anyhow, I ended up trying it out last week and i'm pissed I didn't know about it sooner. The best part (and weirdest part) is that I can finally feel my shirts against the skin on my back again after I use it. Hooray! and I actually feel a little leaner as a bonus.

The shaver itself has a great rubber feel to the whole body and the power is good. Haven't had to recharge it yet and used probably 5 or 6 times. Who knew shaving my back hair off could make me feel so good.

I had the old Mangroomer and the blades on it just tore my back up! The teeth on the old model had square edges, and if you didn't use a VERY light touch when shaving your back it would give you a terrible case of razor rash. I've had this new Professional model for about 2 months now, and I'm Happy to report that it does not have this problem at all. The blades are very smooth with slightly rounded over edges. You can apply a little pressure in order to get a close cut without the razor rash. Big improvement. And the rechargeable internal battery is a nice improvement too.

SUPERWIDE BLADE AND EXTRA LONG HANDLE MAKE THIS A GREAT MACHINE. HAVIN A LARGE MIRROR TO USE WITH IT IS AN ADVANTAGE TO MAKING POSITIVE ALL AREAS ARE SHAVED. SHAVE TIME IS APPROX. 5-7 MINUTES AND PROBABLY EVERY 4-5 DAYS TO KEEP SUPER SMOOTH. RUBBER BODY IS A NICE FEATURE AND FIND MYSELF GRIPPING IT ALL OVER AND USING ON MY OTHER BODY PARTS TOO AS A RESULT.

the original mangroomer was great, but i just received this new pro model and i like it more. this one has a rechargeable battery and much stronger construction. i would buy this one if posed with the decision of which one.

I read lots of reviews of this product and then I found this pro version and decided to go for it. It's amazing. Use it like a hair-eraser in a back scratcher-like motion. It can scratch you up a bit but with some practice, it's not that bad and way less scratches than with hair clipper acrobatics. I probably have medium coverage, mostly on the shoulders and in 5 minutes, I'm all cleaned up. Guys, this will do the job and no more waxing, asking a partner to do this, or clippers. Ladies, this will make a great gift for the yeti in your life.

I was astounded at the performance of the ManGroomer. Thoughtful ergonomic design. Even though a large mirror is good to have while shaving, the design allows you success without one. I use mine like a back scratcher. Quick and easy for grooming maintenance. The rubber body and compact design make it ideal for the bathroom and storage.

Addendum April 24, 2011: Plugged my Man Groomer in to charge and when I came back to it hours later it was sputtering like it had no juice. SO I charged it overnight thinking it needed more time to charge. After a 20 hour charge...same sputtering and then death. It does not work anymore. My original statement stands about how well it worked but I was hoping for a bit more longevity out of it.

Mangroomer Pro- Wow, what an incredible product! For the first time in my life I was able to shave my own back and with ease. I have a very hairy back that has grown wild over the last 4 years without having assistance, and has been a constant source of embarrassment for myself. It took me about 20mins. to slash though the jungle to find my back. I found for the first time it was easier to first trim down the jungle to a manageable level before really going at it. After that, it was a breeze to remove the rest. I am a tall guy and had no problems reaching all areas. I can't believe I waited this long to buy it. I am glad that after reading some negative comments about the original that I got to by pass that one. I love that Pro is rechargeable, however, charging instructions are pretty vague. I'm trying to get answers from support. It says to do a first time charge of 24hrs which is fine, but it also claims to have a rapid recharge, but there is no way to know how long it takes or any indication when it is done charging. Support said the blue light stays on all the time while charging for safety. Also, every 6 months drain the battery completely and do another 24hr recharge. Aside from the vague charging instructions, this is with out a doubt the best product I have every bought. Freedom is literally at hand! - Body Groomer - Mens Groomer - Shaving - Mens Grooming'

Sony Replacement Battery

I purchased this battery for my Sony DSC-SX63 flash camcorder, as a 2nd battery for longer filming. The thing that I like about Sony batteries is that they show an approximate time of battery left. The time showing left is not exact, unless you do not zoom or use other features while filming. This one lasts about "an hour" longer than the battery that it came with.

I just used it yesterday to film at a zoo. We were at the zoo for about 4 hours. I took about 1 hour of video, and there was about "30 minutes" left on the battery from a full recharge. The zooming, which is mechanical, is what really wears on this battery. If I had used the LCD light, it may have drained a little faster as well.

Overall, it really helps to have a 2nd battery, especially one that lasts longer than the default one. So I recommend getting this battery for your "V" type Sony device. Sony NPFV50 Rechargeable Battery Pack (Black) (Retail Packaging)

Just FYI. Beware of fake imitation Sony batteries. There are a lot out there and their cheap price will really draw you into buying it. I recently got a fake one (NP-FV100). Although it's in a Retail Package like how they advertised it (but they don't say OEM or original or genuine), you will notice some difference from the original battery. The battery lasted long time for each charge though, so it still works, but I think once in a while, somebody will get a bad defective one like the one person that said the plastic cover was held to the circuit board by a double-side tape (Sony or any major brand will not do that).

Here are the differences I noticed:

- There are slight imperfections on how the plastic was molded into shape especially at the bottom area like the corners where you connect the battery to the camcorder.

- My original battery has an imprint of some numbers at the bottom. The fake battery does not have it.

- The cut of the infoLITHIUM sticker on top is not as exact as in the original battery.

- Some of the retail package is not the sealed type. You can slide the back paper in and out.

- The print or the graphics on the retail package is not as clear as the original or is a little blurry.

- And of course, high chance that Sony will say it's fake and no warranty on it.

This is just for information purposes. Know what you are buying. The battery I got that I am assuming is fake or imitation still worked.

Bought this for use with the Sony Flash Camcorder that was purchased at the same time. Was the perfect addition to have providing enough backup power during the whole day. Extra power for picture taking on trips and special events. Would recommend purchase of this item.

I purchased this battery for use with a SONY Camcorder HDR-CX700V. The charging light on the camcorder was flashing when I tried to charge the battery. The SONY NPFV50 that originally came with the camera was charging normally as was the SONY NPFV100 that I purchased subsequently.

The battery did appear to be charging but when I operated the camcorder with it, the display indicated "use only original batteries" and shutdown after about thirty seconds.

I did notice that this battery appeared to be marked differently than the other two batteries. The circular recycle emblem with the 800 number was missing, the engagement slots were square instead of rounded and the serial number was in the middle of the label instead of the bottom right-hand corner. The "ActiFORCE" label on the front of the battery was shiny and looked as though it had been added afterwards.

I spent several hours on the phone with SONY Customer Support. They did not recognize the markings on the battery label or the serial number. The implication was that this was a counterfeit battery.

I emailed images of all the batteries to the Amazon Vendor who kindly offered to replace the battery or give me a refund. I opted for the refund which was provided promptly.

I still need the battery so I am ordering a replacement though another Amazon Vendor. I hope this one will be the real thing.

This battery was shipped very fast. I ordered this battery on May 20th with 3-5 day shipping and got it the next day..It came in the original Sony packaging so hopefully it's not a fake..It's a good spare battery to have around just in case..

I ordered this particular battery as a backup for a DSC-HX1 camera, as Sony's 800-number sales person suggested this was, indeed, the replacement for the original battery..."with 15% more capacity." Apparently that extra 15% makes it just a tad too big for the battery slot in the camera. I returned this to amazon (very nice process, I must say) and ordered the correct battery.

The battery is probably fine for a camcorder, since it doesn't fit into a specific slot, just hangs on the back of the unit.'

Streets And Trips

I have been buying each version of this program for many years. This time, I really think that Microsoft simply did a text replace operation 2010 --> 2011 and shipped the thing out. The 2011 program seems to be bug-for-bug identical to the 2010 iteration.

Were any maps updated for 2011? Maybe. I don't have the resources to check this. Here is one data point. Over a year ago, a new freeway entrance was added near my home. A few months ago, the maps on my TomTom GPS were updated to include this. Finally. But Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011 does not include the new freeway entrance.

Microsoft has a web page dedicated to its Streets & Trips product line. There is no mention of new features there. For a marketing-driven company like Microsoft, this is remarkable.

At this point, I could copy and paste my review for Microsoft Streets 2010 right here. Nothing has changed! The maps are still very good, although perhaps becoming old. The user interface is great, except for Microsoft's treatment of "bookmarks." Searching, editing, and organizing saved locations is primitive and inconvenient.

As in previous versions, maps will not print out at 1200 DPI (dots per inch). I can print them at 600 DPI though. I have tested this on three different printers.

I use this program from Windows 7 and it installed cleanly. However, I cannot launch it in the normal fashion. Windows complains that the program was not installed properly. The solution to this problem is to always launch the program with administrative privilege. This is slightly inconvenient.

If anyone finds a difference between this program and the 2010 version, please post your findings. Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011

I got this upgrade because my old version was 2005 and I need more recent maps. It works about the same as previous versions with little additional capability. It has a different skin than my old version but that is no big deal. Unfortunately, the maps are out of date for having just been released. A new road where I live that has been there a year is not on the map. I had no problem installing it or running it on my Windows 7 computers.

I recently replaced my laptop with a new HP with i7/6 GB/1 TB disk drive and Win 7. My old S&T 2009 won't work, so I ordered S&T 2011 figuring that the new version ought to work with Windows 7.

It doesn't. I tried all of the suggestions that people have posted in various forums to work around problems. All yield the same result - software says that it has installed and goes thru the registration steps. It then freezes when I try to start it. Trying to run it in compatibility mode gives the same result.

My advice - don't buy this program.

Long ago I started with Streets & Trips 98 and have bought every upgrade since, now owning two separate retail copes of MS S&T 2011. Once installed you are not all set. After a period of time suddenly, one day you launch the program and you have a licensing issue or registry error requiring reinstall. Reinstalling, cleaning registry before and after is to no avail. MS has a work around in their KB articles but after years of publishing this software I have had enough of fixing their stuff and having a clumsy work around.

Imagine being in a new city and you open your laptop and suddenly the prepared maps you made for your work trip are not available. Having no software is better than bad software.

I have had this problem on both Vista Desktop & laptops. I highly recommend anything else but Streets & Trips 2011. I am going to back to Delorme and try their 2011 Street Atlas and see if it is easier to use than their prior versions. At least it'll load up and run I 'll bet.

I looked forward to Streets and Trips 2011. Boy, was I disappointed. As mentioned in another review, if you have an existing map with push pins, Streets and Trips will simply discard most or all of them - without even a warning. There appear to be few if any new features. And for some reason, I am unable to check for updates rendering the product worthless. I will never upgrade Streets and Trips again. I will stick with Delorme's products from now on.

I, as many others, update every 2 years. I currently own the 2009 version and was anxiously awaiting for the 2011 S&T. Although I did NOT purchase the 2011 version, I did download the free trial version from the Microsoft website. However, the new highway in town is not on the map (only 6 months old, but it is on my iPhone map) and a section of highway in PA I was on 2 years ago (not on my 2009 S&T) is still not on the 2011 version. Microsoft, are you listening? Many people prefer S&T over their TomTom or Garmin. I know I do, especially for long trips. I really don't care if there are new bells and whistles in the software every year, but I do want up to date maps. I know you state that you purchase the maps from a 3rd party vendor. Mayby it's time to either change map vendor or tell them if they don't provide a current update, don't expect a contract next year. I rated it three stars because the software itself is great. The rerouting and "avoid this area" features alone make S&T preferable over the TomTom. So, if you're new to S&T, it is well worth it (4 or 5 stars). However, if you already have a 2009 or 2010 version and are just upgrading, don't bother (0 or 1 star).

We mostly use this program for daily service call routing for our business. We normally double check the printed routes before giving them to crews because this program, while usually excellent, has a way of really missing badly and/or issuing confusing directions from time to time. Sometimes it is handy to print a detail of a tricky area in addition to the printed drive instructions. All that said, this is a useable program--definitely in the "pretty good is good enough" tradition of the developer--for the cost.

We skip every other year and the 2011 version has updated maps and few fixes compared to the 2009 version. If you use the push pins feature, then be aware that the data sets may not transfer to upgrades reliably. In fact this entire feature set feels haphazard and unpolished. I have tried a past version of this program that came with a GPS receiver. While it worked in the broad sense of the word, imagine having a glance at a PC on the seat next to you as you drive--extremely dangerous even though the voice instructions are usually intelligible. This is definitely not a substitute for a real GPS navigation unit but is best thought of as a route planning tool.'

This is a handsome and very functional shelf for anyone not wishing to install a permanent fixture. It is well-designed with plenty of space and very, very good suction.

When it arrived (in record time) I wanted to be sure it would hold. I tucked away the shipping paper, mounted it and loaded it up with a litre bottle of water, two very large bars of soap, a 16 oz. bottle of shampoo, an 8 oz. tub of dense cream and an oversized, sopping wet face cloth. I gently bumped into it several times while showering over several days to be sure. End of test. I am satisfied it is stable and definitely not going anywhere.

This shelf has adequate space for our two-person collection of stuff, nicely spaced niches for toothbrushes and razors, and well-configured racks. The finish is attractive, the suction is very secure and the design is practical and sound.

I've been reluctant to drill into my tile and have been on the hunt for a suction-mount shelf for some time. This one's perfect. bath tub organizer basket SHOWER CADDY shelf holder NEW

I've had this shelf for about 3 months now and it has been working just as I hoped. I was tired of the look my shower caddy made hanging from the shower head. It also took up too much room and was bulky looking in front with all the bottles of shampoo and such. This chrome shelf looked good in the pictures shown and I could place it anywhere, but I was skeptical about how the suction cups would hold this shelf up. I'm glad to say they work great. There are three bottles of hair products, razors, wash towels constantly on my shelf and it hasn't slipped or moved one bit since I installed it. I'm very happy with the look and its performance so far.

I received this item about a week ago and have found it to be very effective. I have a bathtub with a complete surround of something like fiberglass, perfectly smooth. The instant I placed the four suction cups close to this surface they grabbed hold and supported the entire device very firmly. I am now keeping three large 24 oz.bottles of shampoo, hair conditioner, and body wash on the shelves and there is no evidence of the suction giving way. The one purchaser who reports having trouble with the suction supporting the shelves probably placed it on an irregular surface. Before purchasing make sure you have the necessary flat, smooth surface necessary for effective suction.

I suppose how well it sucks depends on the composition of your shower wall. We've got a really cheap but smooth and glossy one-piece shower, and this shelf sticks on there just great. We've had it about two weeks and it hasn't fallen down yet, but that said we're not going out of our way to load it down with as many full shampoo bottles as we can. That probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Wow ! I've had this caddy for about two months now. There isn't anything I don't like about it. The spaces in the top for 'upside down bottles' is ingenious. Neatly holds your razors, loofahs, cloths, and combs. The hold is incredible. Even when pushing down on it when using shampoo and soap pumps it stays put. Could not be happier with this purchase. Highly, highly recommend. Well done, InterDesign! Will be looking at more of your products.

I always have a cheap shower caddy that hangs over the shower and it use to swing left to right every time i take something out of it.I was searching for a shower caddy for a while now until i found this one and i liked it very much cause of the suction cup.I've seen some reviews saying that it isn't good but u know what u have to make sure that the area that u are placing it is dry and clean and make sure the suction cup is also dry otherwise it will never stick and if there's water it will keep sliding. This is so good and it arrive very very fast it even came a week before the delivery date. Thanks to all the reviews it was very helpful and i will fully recommend this to anyone....it's so good i'm gonna get myself another one and the material is excellent.

This was much smaller than I thought it would be, the suction was not very good, and then a piece of the metal bar actually snapped and broke and I threw the whole thing out. Big waste of money and overpriced to begin with, even it it didn't break.

I am very satisfied with this shower rack - it has never once fallen down from the time I stuck it to the wall, it holds 4 large shampoo bottles easily in the top rack + razor and soap etc. on the small rack, and the shiny chrome looks great. A fantastic deal!

The shower caddy is well made. The only problem you may have is that the suction cups will slip and the caddy will fall if placed on tile or even glass that is getting a continual spray of water from the shower. I finally had to place the caddy high in the shower where the water would not reach the suction cups that hold it in place. - Organization - Bathroom - Bath Shower Caddy - Shower Storage'

Samsung Impression Case - samsung, screen protector

These work great and once applied, you can't even tell they are on the cell phone. It was the perfect size for my daughter's Samsung phone. The protector itself has a plastic shield on both sides that you peel off during installation. Installation of any protective screen is fairly tricky as you have to clean the device well and then align protective screen very carefully paying close attention to the edges. My advice it to just take it easy and be careful. They come with a small lint-free cloth and I used some Windex before that. Use a edge of credit card to push any air bubbles to the side and then you have it. If by chance you get it on wrong, just try again. At this price you could even pitch it and start over as the main thing is to keep from permanently scratching the cell phone display. These worked so well I ordered some for my husband's iPhone as well. 3 Pack of Premium Reusable LCD Screen Protector for Samsung Impression A877

This is my first time using LCD screen protectors on my phone. Actually, this is my first LCD screen phone. (Lame joke). Anyway, after using these for about 2 months I now have seen their usefullness. The fingerprints, dirt, dust and little specks of whatever, that are in the air and on the cheek of the user, are kept off the face of the screen. The value there is, the screen is kept cleaner and does not become scratched as easily by daily use in whatever clime one may find oneself. I give the product and the vendor 5 stars (*****) for their professoinalism and care in packaging and mailing. The product came through with no damage, and I find that getting rare in some instances. I recommend this vendor, Accessory Export, very highly. I shall continue reviewing their stock when I am looking for products that may be in their "shop". Great job and keep up the great work!

These screen protectors work wonderful, at a fraction of the cost of more expensive ones. They are easy to put on and you can't even tell there is anything on the screen, but it stills protects very well. I was quite surprised by the quality for the price. I would definitely recommend.

These screen protectors are perfect for my Samsung Impression. The screen doesn't feel any different with the protector on. No loss of sensitivity on the touch screen either. The squeegee is just a flimsy piece of cardboard and didn't really help me get the bubbles out, but if you apply the screen protector carefully enough you shouldn't need the squeegee. Dust will probably try to attach to the screen protector before you apply it, but once it's on the phone you can't tell. Don't try to wipe off the dust with your fingers because fingerprints WILL show up after it's on. Overall very nice product, especially for the price.

I am very happy I got these for my Impression. I will admit that I was a little nervous when I saw the packaging the protectors came in, thinking I didn't get the right size. The packaging didn't specifically say it was for the Impression. After carefully applying to my phone, it fits perfectly. Can barely tell it is there. And now I have 2 extra covers if I need them. Excellent value.

What was shipped to me was not made specifically for the impression, so it was slightly mismatched and there was a notch for something that wasn't there. Point is, it wasn't made for the impression, but it works

The screen protectors I received did not fit my Samsung A877, the packages read they were for the "SAM A867", so beware. I didn't bother returning them, as I have a phone cover that conceals the ill fit. I do like the quality of the protectors, and they have a slight mirror finish to them that is attractive.

Update: I left feedback for the company explaining the mistake and they apologized then promptly sent me the correct screen protectors free of charge. They also allowed me to keep the original incorrect protectors as well. Though their initial mistake was inconvienient, they were very courteous and quick to correct the problem. Once I had the correct covers, they fit perfectly and look great.

The price of these screen protectors is very low, which matches their quality. They are easy enough to install, but shrink, yes shrink after you put them on. It has been 2 weeks and there is almost a quarter inch between the edge of the screen and the edge of the screen protector. Even when first applied, they did not fit perfectly. The edges are roughly cut, not a precision cut. Pay a little more and get something better.

I'm very happy with these phone protectors. Worth the price! Can't beat it. I've had mine on for a few months now and I forget it's there. It comes with 3 so I have one to my brother & his is still on as well. - Samsung - Samsung Impression Case - Screen Protector - Samsung Impression'

Stainless Steel - e-reader, watches

I bought this watch to use while traveling. Day to day, I use my mobile phone as a watch. Obviously that doesn't work on long flights, and I usually don't get a SIM card to use my phone when I'm in foreign countries. This watch filled the gap admirably on my recent trip. I banged it on things a few times while dragging luggage onto elevators and such, and it came through just fine.

It's a reasonably handsome watch, and the leather band seems high quality and durable. It has the old-fashioned stem for setting time, and setting the date the first time is quite tedious because you have to spin through all the days (or at least I have not discovered a short cut for that). However, this is what we all did before digital watches, so it's a minor annoyance.

This is nice enough to wear to formal events, and rugged enough to use just about anywhere. I'm glad I got it. Even though I have not worn a watch in six years, having this thing on my recent plane/train intensive trip was a major convenience. Wenger Swiss Military Men's 62935-16908 Classic Field Black Leather Watch and Swiss Army Knife Gift Set

i purchased this watch for my husband for his father's day gift. He really liked the look of it. When he put it on the fit was really good, the watch that he has now turns on him because of the band and he has to turn the face of the watch to see it. He has decided that he is going to keep this watch for wearing when he is not at work. I am really happy with the purchase, and would buy it again.

I love this watch. I've had it for a week now and just enjoy wearing it. The bright numbers against the dark background, along with a larger sized dial, make it just so easy to read, especially when I only have a fraction of a second to take a quick glance while leading a group. I have a small wrist, so the band fits into the next to smallest hole, but it is comfortable. This was a gift to myself and I really am loving it.

A person must know what they are looking for in a watch. For my part I was looking for durability, legibility, and accuracy. Time will tell about the durability but it appears to be very well made. It is excellent in legibility and accuracy. I don't believe I have ever paid this much for a watch but I don't regret the investment. I am looking forward to many years ahead with this timepiece.

Okay.. I purchased this watch to replace a Timex Weekender that I previously purchased. The Timex kept loosing time and I've owned Wenger watches before so I forked over the extra $40. So far so good. The leather band is stiff but that will change after a day or two of wear.

The watch face is large and the numbers big making it ideal for my aging eyes to read. The watch is solid and some may find it heavy if your coming from a lighter weight digital watch. It's much heavier than the older field watches Wenger used to make.

All in all, no regrets. I do wish they had a backlight feature but I'll learn to live without. No regrets on spending the extra cash for a quality watch.

O BOUGHT IT FOR FATHER'S DAY... MY DAD WAS AMAZED BY THE GIFT SET AND ITS CONTENT! THE KNIFE IS VERY USEFUL AND EASY TO CARRY EVERYWHERE... THE WATCH IS THE PERFECT COMPLIMENT! THE BEST THING: ITS PRICE! - Kindle - E-reader - Ebook - Watches'

Elastic Belts - belts, elastic

Cheap looking belt which you wont know/see until you have it on hand. Belt has an ugly shiny transparent plastic showing at one end - on the outside. I dont know how one can wear it and go out. Also belt buckle is a cheap plastic looking one (it looks like some plastic coated metal). Communicated with the company Luxury Divas which sold it. The response lanaguage was legalish, it looked like they wont stand behind the product they sold. Currently looking at options of returning or filling a claim. Photography - powershot, digital camera

BOTTOM LINE:

With each generation, Canon makes the ELPH series easier to use and still get great results. Like it's predecessors, this one fits easily into your pocket (or the case I recommend toward the end of this review). That point alone may make this the best camera you own; having a $5k DSLR doesn't do you much good if you left it home because it wasn't worth the effort to lug it along.

However, unlike many other small cameras, this one does not sacrifice either features or quality. Well, it does give up on any reasonable manual control, things like setting shutter speed, lens aperture, ISO. What access you do have to that level of control is buried deep inside menus. It took Canon a while to realize that for most of us, if we wanted to fool with that kind of thing on a regular basis, we would be using a different camera. This camera is designed to leverage convenience over extreme control or nth degree quality.

DETAILS:

It is a small camera and carries with it the baggage that comes with the convenience of having to carry so little baggage. (sorry, couldn't resist) None of the issues raised, given that they comes as part of the convenience trade-off made me consider anything other than the 5-star rating this camera deserves.

One issue with all small cameras is the built-in flash. They are all underpowered and create red eye. Both problems are caused by the need to keep the camera small; the flash needs to be small and positioned close to the lens. Canon addresses it by putting in some really good noise reduction so you (actually the camera) can shoot at a relatively high ISO in low light allowing for a faster shutter speed. The result is an image that is both low noise and not blurry. And the best part is the camera takes care of all that so you don't have to. As a result you can take pictures in a well lit room without having to use the flash at all.

- The shutter response, as with any small digital camera for less that $500, is a bit slow for effectively capturing children and pets. The trick for doing that is to either have a great sense of timing and a shutter that reacts instantly or a reasonably fast ( > 4x / sec ) burst mode. This camera has neither.

Some other suggestions that apply:

Normally at this point I would put in some details about manually setting ISO or selecting a color space. However, for this camera it just isn't relevant. You are buying this camera because you want to take great pictures without having to worry about that stuff. If you do want to "take your photography to the next level then a great resource is the Confessions of a Compact Camera Shooter: Get Professional Quality Photos with Your Compact Camera.

Finally, I've found the Caselogic QPB-1 Compact Digital Camera Case (Black/Gray) is just the right size for this camera. It's semi-rigid so you get a fair amount of protection but doesn't add a lot of bulk. It's made even better by using one of these, Nite Ize SB1-2PK-01 Size-1 S-Biner, Black, 2-Pack, to secure it to a belt loop. Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS 12.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 4X Optical Zoom (Silver)

Just received my Canon ELPH 100 HS {orange} and I absolutely love it. The camera boots up almost instantly. Installed a 16GB SDHC class 10 card and now have 5000+ 12MB photo capacity or 60 minutes for HD video. The image stabilization at max digital zoom 4X4/16x works great! The camera easily fits in my pocket and is very light @ ~5 ounces.

The Canon's Digic 4 processor & CMOS sensor make this camera truly point and shoot. By default it automatically selects the light level, shaking, target focus, shutter speed, flash/noflash and ISO to pick the optimal scene type. Perfect pictures virtually every time when button is correctly pressed 1/2 way (1) before fully in (2) for photo shot. But be sure to get a class 10 card for the best video.

The only 2 minor problems I believe are:

1) It comes with a 700 mAh 3.7 Volt battery instead of the 1400 mAh 3.7 OEM version which doubles it run-time for 230 photos to almost 500 pictures per charge. This is easily fixed when ordering additional batteries just get the larger mAh capacity ones.

2) The CameraWindow transfer software doesn't automatically delete pictures after they are transferred. Some people like this as not to delete photos improperly transferred.(I do not). Some camera blogs suggest a quick format after transfer is the way to quickly delete photos/video after successful transfer.

However, this is the best point and shoot camera I have used and I still think it's a 5 star camera @ $199 MSRP.

I normally use a Nikon D50 which takes great photos, Im no professional but really enjoy taking pictures of my toddler. Well he broke my Nikon and I sent to see if it could be fixed but wanted to point and shoot because they come in really handy! I reviewed what felt like a million cameras, I touched them and felt them and shot pictures with them and hated every single one! I hadnt seen this one online (cause there werent any reviews) but I went to Shutterbug and they had it, I tried it out and loved it! I've had it for a few weeks and I use it everyday! Pictures always turn out amazing! Our house kinda has crappy lighting and its a major problem with pictures, this camera takes the best pictures by far! (not super grainy looking like others) I also wanted to camera that shoots video. I dont use it to shoot professional quality video but Im impressed! Alot better then my last point and shoot. Also my video does autofocus on video mode, so the other viewer might have had a faulty one cause mine does great. I wasnt looking to spend $200 but I'd do it again in a heart beat!

Pros:

powers on so quick

Picture quality

Picture speed (amazing)

low light pictures

Wandas Evil Scheme - office supplies, permanent markers

It seems pointless or even funny to review something as common as a 12 pack of Sharpies. The fact of the matter is it's worth reviewing. These are high quality permanent markers. Without a doubt Sharpie is the trusted name in permanent writing utensils. During my entire life I have been calling black permanent markers as Sharpies, a testament to its popularity. The reason Sharpie is so good is that it is completely safe, and highly permanent and very reliable. For anyone worried about ingestion, or eye contact, or even any other safety situation with a Sharpie, should rest assured. Under all normal circumstances Sharpie is very safe, in fact if you want more information it can be easily accessed from their MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) readily available on their website. Although I myself have been using Sharpies to identify my own clothes, Sanford (the company that produces Sharpies) highly recommends not using it on clothes as it can run or bleed in the wash, and also after time it may leave a yellow halo around the marking. Although Sharpie claims that it will "remain permanent under most chemical washes, and extreme heat and steam (up to 500 degrees F)" it is possible to remove it form clothes. They claim that stain remover can work, but to use extreme caution. A detailed summery of how to clean a stained garment can be found on their website FAQ. Sharpie is the highest quality permanent marker I have ever used, it is used frequently in my workplace, and is always reliable. I suggest it to everyone; it is also made in the U.S.A., which presents a trusted quality. A very good permanent marker, 5 out of 5. Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Markers, 12 Black Markers(30001)

You could wonder why anyone would wax enthusiastic about a pen, but Sharpie fine-point markers are outstanding for a huge variety of applications. They write on plastic freezer and storage bags without smearing. They write on 3M Post-It Flags neatly and with the fine point you can actually write small enough to write something useful.

These markers also seem to last a long time if you take care to cap them as soon as you are finished with them. You also need to be careful not to get the tips wet or to damage the tip, but as long as you do not drop the pen on its tip it is reasonably durable.

We have tried a lot of different pens and markers for writing on plastic, and have had limited success. Many pens seem to take forever to dry or will not mark on plastic. Magic Markers work, but they are too wide and have an unlovely smell. So far Sharpie permanent fine-point markers avoid these problems, and provide sharp print for nearly all labeling needs. In fact, I will warn you that you should take care what you write on, because once you have used the Sharpie, it can be nearly impossible to get the ink out.

I use this marker on my socks. I write an "S" on the bottom of each sock to make sure that no one else attempts to claim them. Wash after wash, the letter is still there.I also use it to write in my school books. I'm in college and books are very expensive. I write my name in all of my books, as well as on my notebooks and disks.I have accidentally gotten this on my hand more than once. I just wash my hands with soap and water. It may take 2 or 3 hand washings to get it off. These markers are also great for posters because the line is thick enough for poster board.

Other Amazon reviewers noted that the Sharpie permanent ultra fine point markers come in handy as an artistic tool and as a permanent marker for bags like the ones that that store food in your freezer--and they are right. This pen is able to do a wide range of things regarding labeling, drawing and even writing on glass, foil and rubber. Excellent!

The Sharpie black ink is excellent quality and it will never let you down; these pens last a good while. It's economical to buy them in a twelve pack, too.

One drawback to these pens--the ink becomes nearly impossible to remove once you've written on tape or drawn something on paper. Think of that before you use these to write and draw! Another caveat: don't use these to write on media like blank CD-Rs and blank DVD-Rs. The ink eventually will seep through the thin upper coating of the disc and then compromise your data, music or video stored on that disc. (In fact, don't write with anything on the actual discs.) Also keep in mind that although these are called "ultra fine" markers the ink is much thicker than a fine tipped ballpoint pen.

The ink in the Sharpie ultra fine pens stays fresh just so long as you close the cap completely before putting the pen away. Be sure to do that or the ink can easily dry out.

Overall, these markers by Sharpie are probably some of the most versatile pens out there. Sharpie calls them a marker but you can also think of them as a pen.

Use them in good health!

I use Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Markers for lots of things -- but I especially like to use them for writing checks. The concentrated black color provides, I feel, a measure of security. And, because so much of banking today is done on line, when you want to see a canceled check on your bank's web site, this ink makes the details that you've written easier to see.

They are also great for addressing packages. Once again, the ink gives an extra degree of security.

These are good pens!

At the store, 2 Sharpie markers cost $3.00. Here I got 12 Sharpie markers for $4.00! Tried out all the markers when I got them and they all work. Not a single dry one in the bunch! And not some cheap copycat, they really are Sharpies! So glad I didn't buy from the store... it would have cost me $18.00 for the same dozen!

Sharpies are Sharpies, they are a great felt tip marker, great fine tip when you first get them, and they always seem to work. The best part of 12packs is they become cheep. I get the boxes because they seem to walk away and get left places. I really don't know what to say but if you are needing a marker, then get 12 of them because you will always loose one. - Sharpie - Permanent Markers - Office Supplies - Marker'
