College Football - xbox 360, ea sports

Well, NCAA Football was the reason I bought an XBOX 360 in the first place. I have played every incarnation of college football since Bill Walsh for the Super Nintendo. I've played through a whole season already, and here are my random thoughts.

CONS:

1. The game stutters. By that, i mean, that about every third game or so, right in the middle of the play, it will freeze, except for the sounds, and then start up again, and then freeze again. Really annoying, but it only does it for one or two plays, every third or fourth game.

2. I miss Lee Corso. He might be dumb (not as bad as Dick Vitale) but the commentary is severely lacking w/o him. For some of the commentary, my brain will finish his part, "but he just didn't catch it."

3. I wish there was a way you could control the frequency of the replays. A two yard gain does not warrant an automatic replay.

4. while the espn integration is nice, it gets old after a while, since it is pretty much the same thing, over and over.

5. Poor quality assurance. While explaining the type of offense in the loading screen, it states, "...total and control of team." Also, in the credits, it thanks Frenso State, instead of Fresno State. Adds to the rushed feel of the game.

6. The opponents (CPU) QB will sometime go to hand off the ball to the RB, but not give the ball to him, and the QB will keep running backwards for about 20 more yards.

20 July 2010

A couple of things I forgot to mention. There are also times my defensive coverage is holding up, the qb runs out of the pocket, my end comes up, goes to the line of scrimmage, and just stops. By the time i get control of him, the qb (computer) has already either passed it, or started running. annoying. another pain is the when you are on defense and you change the coverage audible (Y and then left) to blitz. EVERY DARN TIME I DO THIS, Brad Nessler has to pipe up with, "it looks like the defense is bring the blitz." once or twice is realistic, but when I'm playing someone, it's really really irritating as it is giving part of my defense away.

On a positive note, the receiver animation of him toeing the sideline to bring his feet inbounds has been changed for the better. It has better recognition of actually how close the dude is to the sideline, so if he is right on the sideline, he'll drag his foot, and then fall over, but, if he still close, but not that close, he'll drag his foot, and then stumble, but catch his balance. This is especially helpful if no one is around him and then he can take off again for a few more yards.

7. While some of the crowd shots are nice, it seems that some of the developers' girlfriends were used to model as there is a brunette with glasses and a blonde in every shot of the crowd. She will wear your school colors, but, be rooting for the home team when you are away.

PROS:

1. Graphics are awesome. From the stadium turf up to the players' uniforms. The helmets are especially realistic. It does not have the cartoony look of last year's version.

2. I like the no huddle option. Now, when you hold Y down, you actually get the whole play book instead of just running the same play again.

3. they put all the refs back on the field. Granted, you can run thru them, but it's still a nice touch.

4 The Alamo Bowl is finally placed in the Alamodome. The past few years, it was OUTSIDE.

5. a lot of the animations have been improved. Especially, the QB throwing motion.

6. First ncaa football game in a long time that is quite enjoyable to play.

Random thoughts: Right now, School Showdown is offline, and it's not worth it yet to play an online dynasty until EA fixes the servers. EA is aware of the problem. It's fun to also have specific sounds play at kickoffs, turnovers, 3rd and 4th downs. I do miss the ability to create your own fan sign which was in 2003 or 2004. I'm not big into recruiting, nor the road to glory, but I enjoy playing none the less. NCAA Football 11

Improvements:

The locomotion system does make running a little more fluid, though I think its hype has been a little overstated. More importantly, the realism of things like pass completion % and kick coverage has been improved, without having to do drastic manipulation to the sliders. Also, the inside running game for you and the computer creates more space and allows for more 6-7 yard rushes, so you aren't limited to running outside to get good gains.

One nice addition is a slider which lets you set the disparity in speed between the fastest and slowest players, so you won't have to cuss over Defensive Tackles chasing down your QB from behind anymore.

The AI does a nicer job in pass coverage, and the logic of its offensive playcalling is much improved. Having your opponent's offense retain the personality of its real-life team, and not just its formations, (ex. Georgia Tech option) was long-overdue.

The graphics are slightly refined, but nothing dramatic. Dynasty has not been altered much, but Recruiting has been tweaked. Now, the phone calls to recruits bring up topics randomly, and you have to determine how you want to handle it (ex. make a strong pitch, change the topic, etc). Not sure yet how I feel about it, but first time through it feels less laborious and predictable, so I think it will be better.

Overall, it is clear EA focused more on the gameplay and less on the peripheral features, which is good. I do not play Online, but the Online Dynasty enhancements seem significant. As someone who has been playing NCAA since the old Bill Walsh College Football days on Super Nintendo, I would say this is the best of the new generation, without too many significant flaws or gaps. Even if you have NCAA 10, it's worth the purchase, because it is a much more refined and realistic game.

UPDATE AFTER 2 DYNASTY SEASONS: Hard to get a pass rush; the CPU QB always seems to dump it off right before you sack him. I've had to dial down the CPU pass rush because my QB was getting ripped 5-6 times a game, mainly because the offensive tackles will just watch the DE run by...you need to get comfortable stepping up into the pocket. Recruiting is definitely much better - harder to cheat it, and easier to recruit against another team. Don't like the playcalling...now you have to cycle through 100+ shotgun passes one at a time instead of being able to use all the buttons (now only can use "A" to select). I've gone to 6 min quarters because I've found you can't get enough plays in at the traditional 5 min quarters. The running game is definitely more realistic...my RB average 5-6 yds per carry and you can find nice seams up the middle. Overall, my initial review stands...this is a significant improvement in virtually all areas and worth the purchase. - Xbox 360 - Video Games - Ea Sports - College Football'

Bose In Ear Headphones - tip, bose

There are so many different listings here for what look like the same product. I was almost scared away from purchasing these by all the reports of the tips falling off. As the top review of another version of these earphones notes, THE KEY to getting the new (updated) "version" is getting the black-and-white cord, lanyard/clothing clip, and angled plug. It is this "version" that has fixed all the problems mentioned here and elsewhere. The only ADDITIONAL HINT I might offer for making sure you're securing the right ones is that my box is labeled, "Bose in-ear headphones". I see no mention on the box or in the manual of "Tri-port". The Bose product code on the box is listed as "044435". I just got mine, and, well,.....THEY ARE FANTASTIC! The sound is amazing. The fidelity and sound quality from highs to lows are just exquisite. They are incredibly comfortable and probably safer for your ears due to their innovative ear-cup-placement. Using the lanyard, there is NO problem with them falling out when you're working out--and, frankly, they stay in fine without it for the most part. Get the RIGHT ones, and I promise you won't be disappointed! Bose In-Ear Headphones - Headphones ( in-ear ear-bud ) - black

I understand the previous reviewers low ratings based on the initial release of these earbuds. I have recently purchased the current version (black and white cords) and I am delighted with the performance of these little gems. I have no problem with the tips falling off as Bose has modified the way that the tips attach to the buds. They are super-comfortable, and stay in place perfectly (for me using large tips). And the sound quality? Absolutely stellar across entire spectrum. I must note that the bass response is the best I've ever heard with earbuds. I am using these with a Sandisk e200 series MP3 (e280 8GB) player with equalizer setting on normal (flat) settings. BOSE will also send free replacement tips through their website. Price is a little high, but you get what you pay for (sound quality makes up for this). I can't rate durabilty yet as I've only had for a few days. Only complaint...volume a little low...but I don't wish to destroy my hearing anyway. Great job BOSE.

My review could be 5 stars, but give it 5 when there is better out there, just not for the money. That depends on your taste.

The comfort level of these earphones about equals the sound quality. The IPOD earphones are not comfortable in my ears after 15 minutes compared to these..I can almost sleep with these in my ears.

The sounds is nice, and the base is plentiful. There is a few songs out there with HIGH treble that don't song that good in these, but who cares.

If you want the best, buy the professional ones for 250 dollars or buy the big earphone types.

If your looking for Perfection, don't buy small. These are close enough to perfect for the average music consumer in my opinion.

The buds will fall off, even the newer types that "click" in, so make sure you take the time to buy some extra ear buds. Try EBAY, some ebay sellers sell them with multiple pairs for under 10 dollars.

Just bought these (black & white cord) and am very happy. Bose can sound quite 'basey' and - to some- supressed but the trick is turning off your equalizer and other sound enhancing software then adjust up to suit. I find that, on the iPod (5th gen 30GB but I suspect the EQ logarithm's the same on all iPods) Acoustic setting as this seems to balance out the base with the treble while emphasasing the vocals. Once you've found your preference you won't turn back - cuts out all the tinny crap and you'll hear stuff you never heard before - deeper, richer quality sound. The difference is similar to a track being played without Dolby (with standard earphones) then with Dolby (with Bose) - but better. Just expect to play around with your EQ first.

An update (22/9/07) - been listening to Pink Floyd (Dark Side) and let me say - it's amazing how much you miss with cheaper audio. These have brought a new fascination to old favorites. If you have equipment with SRS Wow - even better but you can download that for iTunes now - great combo.

Comfortable? Yes. Worth the money? NO!!! Seems like every other time I use these headphones, I lose the stupid one of the stupid tips. I have never owned any pair of headphone that were such complete "high maintenance." I would never buy another pair. As a point of fact, after the free tip replacement offer expires, I doubt I will continue using them.

This is the second pair of Bose in-ear headphones I've owned. The only good things about the first pair was the sound quality and comfort in my ears. The silicone tips did come off way too easily, the plug was straight so the cord was always bent and had a tendancy to break (like mine did)if your active while enjoying your music. And the carrying case didnt help b/c it was tiny and you had to coil the headphones to put them in the case, further stressing the straight plug. Sadly, looking at some of the other reviews it seems that people are rating the version of these earbuds I just described and not the ones being shown on the page (the black and white cord is the new and improved earbuds). Bose has fully addressed all the shortcomings of the first version of these earbuds. The silicone tips and the earbuds now fit together like a lock. The tips now have a "canal or hole" in them and the earbuds have a "tang or tooth" on them that fits into the silicone tip. Imagine a fish hook (the earbud tang)sunk into something, the only way to seperate the two is to grab hold of both of them together and take the hook out the way it came. That is how well the silicone tips stay on the earbuds. The plug now comes out at an angle so it isn't always bent and over stressed from the weight of the cord dangling. There are two new accessories that help control the cord and its weight pulling on the earbuds while your listening to them. The first is a lanyard that goes around you neck and keeps slack in the cord near your ears so the rest of the cord's weight isn't pulling down on your earbuds. The second is a simple clip that can be used to clip the cord to you clothing to keep it out of your way. The carrying case is now huge compared to the last one, I can put the earbuds, the lanyard & clip, as well as my iPod inside and zip it up with ease and go. When my first pair broke on me I was disappointed with Bose b/c of their reputation in the audio world. So I was mulling whether to pay $100 and buy another pair of Bose and be gentle the second time around, or go with another brand of high quality earbuds. When I saw that Bose had re-designed their earbuds I decided to take a chance on them again. I have no regrets buying Bose again; these ear buds are durable, they improved the design while keeping the price the same, and you can't argue with Bose sound quality. I use these earbuds everyday all day long, I recommend them to anybody looking for a high quality set of earbuds at a reasonable price. - Tip - Ipod - Headphones - Bose'

Gift Ladies Tool Kit - tools, tool set

These tools are meant to be given to someone as a joke I think, not for anyone to do anything meaningful around a home. They are made of flimsy plastic and weak metal. The screws I have encountered in my home were more durable than the screwdriver head -- the metal on the tool stripped up rather than the screw, so the tools were ruined in first use. The drill is a complete joke since it has zero power to even assemble pre-drilled holes for screws -- again, the screw lasted longer than the drill bit. VERY, VERY disappointed in this. I'm sure someone else out there has pink tools for women that are not a complete flop. Why else would there be people selling their used sets from this very web-site! Apollo Precision Tools DT0773N1 135-Piece Household Pink Tool Kit

I asked for a set of tools for Mother's Day. I do a lot of decorating and home repair. Most of the time I have trouble finding my husband's tools. When I do find them some are too heavy and awkward for me to use (drill, battery charged screw driver, etc..).

I was extremely disappointed with the Appollo 135pc tool set. It reminds me of a toy set I bought for my son when he was 10 and wanted to help Dad with repairs. The pliers and wrench are too small for my grip and the hammer is smaller than I thought it would be. If you're looking to hang up some pictures this would be fine. But if you're looking to do more than that I would not recommend this set.

I love my new tool kit! I mainly bought it for the pink drill, hammer, box cutter, scissors, wrench....well just about everything. I used the drill to screw a nail in the wall to hang a picture and it did the job well, and it's light weight (great for over head positions). But don't expect it to work like a Dewalt hammer drill. It's only 4.8 volts with little torque! I use the box cutter all the time because I'm constanly cutting up boxes from Amazon orders. The little screw drivers came in handy too to replace the batteries on my car remote control. It also comes with a box of extra screws nails, ect. If you are a woman in construction, or a SERIOUS do it yourselfer, this is NOT the kit for you. You will not be satisfied. Dewalt has some nice light weight tools. This kit is definately just for small stuff around the house which is a necessity. I can't count the numerous times when I wanted a light drill to assemble a desk, or shelf and I had to use a rusty old screw driver that hurt my hand. This would make a great gift for some of my girlfriends! Cute and fun and just for her! I give this kit 5 stars for the quality and its' purpose.

FOUR MONTHS LATER: I've been using my tool kit quite often. I haven't used everything, but I'll tell about what I have used.

1. Cordless drill: First let me correct myself, this is NOT a drill it's a cordless screwdriver (even thought they call it a drill). If you want a pink drill, they sell them on ebay. The origianl company is in the UK called pinktoolbox and part of the money goes to breast cancer just like the apollo line of oink tools. As fars as this cordless driver goes, I wish it had a bit more torque. But it can do light jobs. One of the many tasks I did was assemble a stand for my mother's new digital tv. I also hung up picture, ect. The bits are good.

2. Box cutter: can get annoying. I order A LOT from Amazon and I need a good box cutter to cut up the boxes for recycling and this one sucks! When I try to cut boxes with this thing, the blade rides back up into the plastic casing. Not very useful :(

3. I worry about using this hammer on any heavy project. There is a label on the hammer that reads, "This tool can be made to chip if struck against a hardened nail......". You do the math!

4. What works great: measuring tape, leveler, percision screwdrivers and scissors.

5. Have not used yet: wrench, pliers, tape and putty knife.

Again, I still love this kit even months later, but they should have made a better pink hammer and drill. I only paided 29.99, now they raised the price to 39.99. They should have raised the quality. But I still say it's a must have for women who do SMALL jobs around the house. This kit gets used A LOT. It's sooooo handy and I'm glad I bought it!

I've got to agree with the other negative reviews. These tools are like toys, made out of flimsy materials. I do not understand how others are getting any use out of them. The screwdrivers were the first to break, the metal they are made out of is so soft that after putting together a few children's toys they were completely ruined. The cordless screwdriver ("drill") has NO power, and after a handful of uses it will not hold a charge. The plastic piece on the tape measure broke off so it can not be held in place. Even the pink plastic hinges on the case broke off. The only thing I've found really useful in this set is the hammer, and well, that's not worth the price. For this amount of money you could buy yourself some real tools, forget about these even though they look so cute. I'm sorry I got them.

This tool kit has all of the hand tools and a few more that a (more likely woman) will need. I have so far found all of the tools to be sturdy and well designed.

Upon opening my Apollo Tool Box, I immediately noticed the poor workmanship. All of the tools have a CHINA print or label on them, as the entire kit was Made in China. There are unfinished edges to the plastic pieces (flakes or rough edges). The tools overall have the appearance of coming through a factory line and immediately being put in the box, without a final check.

All tools have proved durable (though I have only had this for a month) but the presentation of the tools is surprisingly poor. Perhaps the appearance is of no concern to some, but if given as a gift, this tool box may look "cheap" due to the workmanship.

I bought this tool set for a niece who moved into her first apt. after college grad. She loves it and uses it continually. She said it was a unique "house-warming" gift that she will use continually. It is feminine too and that was something she liked about it and the tools were sturdy. - Tool Set - Gift Ladies Tool Kit - Gift Idea - Tools'

Canon 7d

This is a fantastic camera, and a great first DSLR. I say that because if it is your first, you will not be comparing the control layout with your old XXD or XXXD, and that seems to be an issue with some.

Most of my shooting is in M or Av mode. I find the controls easy to work with, and use the top LED and control buttons almost exclusively, but now and then I'll use the q-menu. Over all, I find the controls easy to use.

The 18-200 kit lens is useful for outdoor shooting, but for indoor stuff you will want a better prime. I went with an older version of the "nifty fifty" with the metal mount and range meter. Since this is a crop sensor camera, a 50mm lens behaves like an 80mm, so I find myself needing to back away from my subject often. I think a prime in the 20-30mm range and f/1.4 would be useful in a lot of situations. In general, you should determine why you are buying the camera. If you want to take lots of outdoor shots (birds, wildlife etc) get the body only and buy a nice 300M zoom. If you are going to take lots of indoor shots (family gatherings, baby etc) get the body only and a wide aperture prime in the 20-50MM range (a wide aperture lets more light in so you don't need a flash as often, and yields that nice soft focus "bokeh" effect). If you want to be ready to shoot a variety of situations right out of the box and don't mind using the flash indoors, then pick a kit lens and go with it. I would not recommend the 18-55 kit lens though...you will bump against its limitations very quickly, even if you are a beginner like me.

Video on this thing is amazing, and I didn't even consider that when I bought the camera! Beware file size though. 2 minutes of 1080 @ 30FPS left me with an 800+meg .mov file. I think there is a 4 GB limit on video file size, so figure you will get 5 minutes of continuous shooting at that definition and frame rate. That will be enough for most applications, unless you are filming a wedding or childbirth and don't want to stop shooting, in which case you could film at 720p or standard definition.

Playback through the included cable is so so, so get yourself a mini HDMI to HDMI cable on Amazon or Monoprice (should cost $5-$10) and prepare yourself to be amazed by the resolution and image quality. I would also recommend a program called Any Video Converter, which enables you to change the resolution and format of your video to suit different hardware (iphones, droids, youtube etc). Imagine uploading a 4GB file to YouTube, for example. You can download the program for free, and then pay $40 bucks to be able to use the full menu set.

The only negative about this camera is that the auto focus in video mode and live view mode is borderline useless. In live view mode, it is so slow that everyone else would have got the shot with their point and shoot cameras before the 60D settles down and takes the picture. As for Video, I don't think AF works once you start shooting, so if you zoom or your subject moves, you have to stay on top of it. I don't shoot in live view mode and I am getting the hang of manual focus during Video (it is actually a creative outlet) so I'm fine with these shortcomings. From what I can tell, they are software based and related to the video codec...so it is possible that a firmware upgrade will address these issues. Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens

I wanted to buy a camera in the $500 price range, but could not find one that would make better pictures than my old Canon PowerShot S3 IS.

I've tried some 'bridge cameras' but was very disappointed with their noisy image quality.

Finally I've found www.imaging-resource.com where I was able to see sample shots from all the different cameras.

Comparing the sample images it was clear that the Canon EOS 60D is the best choice under $2000.

I took a leap of faith and decided to get the Canon EOS 60D.

All the pictures I take with this camera have delicate details, beautiful colors and come out razor sharp.

I can definitely suggest this camera.

I bought this camera several days ago, it is an absolutely great camera. You may be confused on which brand to buy: Nikon D7000 or Canon 60D, that's pretty understandable. I've researched both Nikon and Canon for six months, personally, I like Canon 60D for its natural, crystal clear pictures as well as the super video quality. As to camera features, I think the most important is the picture and color quality. Canon 60D is awesome, it has the same picture quality as the Canon 7D but you can save five hundred dollars or more, in addition, you get very nice Canon 18-200 len, I enjoy it very much.

Wishing to be a serious amateur photographer, and wishing to enter the world of digital photo, I spent three months researching practically every day to decide what equipment to buy.

The market has great options, which makes the choice very difficult.

Finally I chose the Canon 60D and I can say it was worth it!!

It is an amazing camera that I recommend to all those keen amateurs like me, and even professionals.

Bought with the 18-200 mm lens which is another wonderful thing, it is a kind of an All-in-1 in lenses.

For all these reasons I strongly recommend buying this product !!!!!

I'm pleased to say that the Canon 60D is a worthy investment for those upgrading from the Canon T2i. I had the great opportunity to own both cameras and see in-hand the differences between the two, and the differences are enough to warrant the extra hundred dollars, maybe more. First of all, I know that they share the same sensor and light metering so pretty much pictures under the same conditions turn out the same - high ISO noise control, color rendition, resolution. But take note that A LOT of how a picture turns out depends on the User and how they compose the shot, and thats where the 60D significantly differs...in handling and performance.

The most glaring difference not easily seen in online reviews is the increase in viewfinder size. The brightness and larger size is like upgrading from a 21-inch lcd monitor to a 23-inch one. At first, I never knew or cared for this increase in spec, but seeing it first hand changed what I wanted in a camera. After all, you spend most of your time viewing through it and it definitely helps to see more of your shot before you take it. Next is the increase in build quality and hand grip size. Yes, its still not magnesium alloy but it feels much more sturdy than the T2i. Weight-wise the 60D is about one kit lens heavier (~200g) which does better balancing heavier lenses like the L series. That's what this camera promotes, a good upgradeable path to handle better lenses. The hand grip is much more filling in my hand. Despite the increase in weight, the ease of holding the camera and preventing strain actually depends more on how your hands hold in position. Another feature is the 9 cross-type AF sensors (T2i has only 1 in center) which allow better focusing in continuous shooting and low-light conditions. One example where I noticed the difference is indoor lighting. After taking random shots, the 60D just feels a little "smarter" on how it chooses the main focus points. Battery life is the next big difference for me. The 60D actually uses the same battery as the Canon 5D Mark II so you know its serious stuff. During one photo trip, one charge lasted over 1,000 photos with about 50% of them using liveview. The included battery charger is very fast too, and it has a retractable built-in prongs..none of that separate cord nonsense you get with the T2i charger. Take note that Maximal Power on Amazon has 3rd party batteries for cheap that works just like the original.

Obviously there are blatant differences too. The swivel screen is great for self-portraits handheld in front of you because you can compose the picture instead of guessing the angle. My gf loves this feature the most for couple shots, and it makes us less relying on unsuspecting passerby's to take our photo. It does inspire creativity when using liveview to compose your shots as well since you dont have to strain your neck or pull a back muscle trying to bend down to take low-to-the-ground photos or over peoples gigantic heads. I haven't tried, but it turning the screen around would be useful for people doing self videos for youtube. The top lcd screen is also great for quick access for basic information, plus it saves battery life and it looks pro. You can basically use this top screen while having your main lcd screen inverted backwards for protection and compose your shots. The faster continuous burst rate of 5.3 vs 3.7 fps is noticeable, but the main difference is that the buffer size for the 60D is much bigger than the T2i to increase your chances of getting that perfect shot. Couple this with the better autofocus system and you can see what I mean about handling and performance. If you like to take shots of your kids running around in the house or fast dogs playing in the yard, then I would highly recommend the 60D over the T2i.

Other difference in features that I haven't tried: horizontal virtual level, wireless flash control, and control over audio levels in movie mode.

Dont get me wrong though, the T2i is a very good camera and probably more popular than the 60D. It has in its favor a lighter body, easier learning curve, and lower price. However, if you are just starting with DSLR's, I would highly recommend getting the T3i instead. Prices are almost the same as the T2i, and its more user friendly with the enhanced Auto mode. Plus it has the swivel screen!

Everything is not mind-blowing with the 60D though. CONS include the same irritable white balance implementation and heavy orange-cast under tungsten lighting. The directional pad within the circular control wheel is almost flush and does not have distinct clicks to let you know if you sucessfully pressed it. Contrast liveview is still slow.

Either way, all these cameras are great choices that will not let you down. This review includes my purchase with the 18-200mm lens. The lens is a little better than the 18-135mm version because it has a little more reach and magnification for close-up shots (.25x vs .21x) but comparing their prices I do not think its worth upgrading to the 18-200mm. Resolution, contrast, color and sharpness is about the same, but the 18-135mm is much cheaper and the difference between 135mm and 200mm is not significant.

A handy tip if you want to take your camera to the next level is a hack called Magic Lantern orginally started as a videographer tool. It safely adds more features like trap focus, zebra control, plus much more. Please proceed at your own risk though. Hope this review helps!

UPDATE 7.24.11 ********

Came back from a trip from Niagara Falls, which also has fireworks every Friday. FYI, the 60D doesnt have more of the beginner, user-friendly mode scenes like fireworks apart from the basic portrait, night, landscape, sports, and flower mode. Another thought is that I wished the top lcd screen showed what PASM mode I'm in, as I often found myself struggling to see the setting of my mode dial in the dark. Granted, one can press the Info button to bring up the main screen, but then whats the purpose of the top lcd screen then?

Despite its shortcomings, I am starting to really like this camera. The auto focus is fast and did fairly well in very dark conditions (without flash assist). Taking self-portraits (with the gf) using the swivel screen takes the guesswork out and was enjoyable, since the optional contrast-detect was much faster than phase-detect (plus it chooses the focus points for you). Let me tell you, being able to compose your shot for a self-portrait is great. Couple this with the 15-85mm lens (which I recommend) and you get great background coverage holding the camera in front of you. The camera body itself handled the humid, misty conditions of the majestic waterfalls no problem. And being able to adjust exposure on the fly with the rear wheel dial was convenient.

On a side note, the camera strap itself comes custom made with "Canon 60D" in big bold, stitching. Hope this info helps some of you.

UPDATE 8.3.11 ***********

Bought the new 270EX II external flash to compliment the 60D. Its great! I previously owned the original 270ex (non-wireless version) so I knew its capabilities. Let me tell you, the new one really opens up a world of possibilities with the 60D since the 60D is capable of controlling groups of external flashes (or one in my case). When taking pictures, I was able to fire both my built-in flash and the 270EX II (off the camera) at the same time plus control the ratio of flash intensity between the two. I think flash photography is yet another upgrade path the 60D allows you to partake.

I also just discovered that the 60D is the only Canon body in its class to allow interchangeable focus screens! Hope this helps.'

Dect Cordless Phone - panasonic cordless, cordless phone

My previous DECT 6 phone broke recently and I picked this one because I don't need answering machine.

This is 2010 model from Panasonic without the answering machine. If you are looking for answering machine, explore KX-TG4031B which is similar to this one with answering machine.

Cons:

- It takes 3 to 4 seconds to open the phone book, i just have 15 contacts stored (half star rating less for this).

- No Talking Caller ID on this model as advertised in the item description (half star rating less for this).

- Can save only 50 numbers in the phone book.

- Speaker phone exists only in the handset not in the base. I think this is same for most basic phones in the market.

Pros:

- Can conference 2 outgoing calls like we do in cell phone.

- Great call quality both using handset and speaker phone, but i have not noticed the call quality difference between DECT 6 and DECT 6 PLUS technology.

- Excellent range and changes to ECO mode when the handset is closer to the base during the call to increase talk time.

- Great battery life. After the full battery charge, I used this phone continuously for 2 hours and I still see 2 bars out of 3 in the battery indicator.

- Light weight handset. The handset uses 2 rechargeable AAA batteries which is easy to get.

- Large buttons in the number pad. The screen is clear and you can see the caller ids clearly.

- I am using one handset but this system can be Expandable up to 6 handsets. Panasonic KX-TG6511B DECT 6.0 PLUS Expandable Digital Cordless Phone

I got this for myself and have used it for about 3 months. I like it. The batteries last forever and the are easy to replace if they ever deplete. My old phone had a NiMh battery and it had problems from the first month. This phone is not the best ever, but for the price it a good phone. I would get another one and recommend it to you. There IS a model with a voice mail built in, but I don't even like phones and didn't want voice mail. It great for someone like me.

There are lots of customizations available but you will need to look at the manual. The ringer can be changed to many different tones and melodies and sounds. I like that. It can also be turned off and I like that even more. If you memorize 2-3 of the most used funtions it will be fine.

It holds many preset "quick dial" numbers. They are aesy to store and use.

I give it a 5/5 because it's what I expected and good quality.

Bought this product almost a month ago.

Pros:

1) Easy to use. Date/Time all are pre-configured!

2) Easy to setup (I got it all started in less than 5mins). Comes with batteries but need to be charged before any long usage duration.

3) Intuitive functions

4) GREAT speaker phone!!! (I was surprised to see this!)

5) Easy to read display, with black digital font on a whitish background.

6) Pretty good battery life. It goes for hours before you need to recharge.

7) A device locator could come handy at times.

8) Range is fairly decent but haven't really tested its max.

9) No sign of damage after a couple of drops. Pretty sturdy!

Cons:

1) Not a very comfortable set to be squeezed between your head and shoulder. Use a hands-free for extended usage.

I would highly recommend it.

this phone works great, also purchased additional headset. the combination allows my wife and I to continue working in the yard, garden, shop (hands free with the headset) at distance's over 500' to the base unit in the house. Large, easy to read display. clear reception, no complaints.

I generally despise cordless phones. They still sound way better than conversation-destroying cell phones, (especially the benchmark-for-awful AT&T / iPhone combo) but they are usually lousy compared to wired phones when it comes to audio quality. But sometimes I need to be mobile and the cordless phone / headset combo is a viable solution. This Panasonic is surprisingly good. There is little extra noise in the audio and the range is big even in my apartment building with its endless array of competing WIFI and other wireless signals. Another plus, the phone has relatively nice ring tones instead of some of the all-cheesiness-and-scary-clowns ring tones so prominent on other phones. Anyway I'll crawl back into my telephonic cave now - but this phone is really pretty good. There you have it.

I bought this as a stand-alone rather than as an addition to a base unit. It has performed very well this way.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they redesigned the interface so that deleting individual received calls from the call list - which I do a lot of - requires two soft-button actions plus an "up" action on the scroll button for each delete rather than simply dedicating one of the hard buttons to Clear (delete) the highlighted call, which is the way it's done on my older Panasonics. - Panasonic Cordless - No Answering Machine - Cordless Phone - Dect Cordless Phone'

Canon Powershot Sd1200is - canon powershot sd1200is, canon

I tried several cases for my new Canon S90 and this case had the best snug fit for the S90 without being too snug. It will provide a modest level of protection for the camera without adding unnecessary bulk. The outer pocket will hold an extra battery and/or memory card. Case Logic TBC-302 Ultra Compact Camera Case with Storage (Magenta)

I recently purchased a Canon S90 to complement my 5DmkII on a safari in Tanzania. Throughout the trip I had the S90 on my belt for quick and easy access; the case isn't bulky and seemed to protect the camera well enough from the occasional knock as the land cruiser hit big bumps.

On my last day in Tanzania I was walking through the streets of Arusha when suddenly I felt a hard tug that almost spun me around. I turned to see a man starting to flee. I started off in pursuit--concerned more about the memory card than the camera itself--but after a few steps realized the camera was still at my side, only a slight rip in the strap indicating anything had happened.

Recommended as a sturdy carrying case with a reasonable amount of padding for impact protection (you won't want to drop it from very high or expose it to strong blows).

This case happens to be a good fit for the Canon S90. If you're hiking or are on vacation, it'll get you that crucial amount of padding plus room for 1 or 2 spare batteries and SD card. I particularly like the fact that the belt loop is fixed (not a clip), so once you put it on, you can be confident that it stays on, no matter which woods you're cutting your way through. Use a wider belt if you have one, the case wiggles a little with slim belts.

If you're out in Metropolis though, the "outdoor factor" may be just a tad over the edge. You can remove the metal hook and cut off the bright label with sharp scissors, but it'll still look a bit too dorky for, say, the opera or sushi gathering. For such occasions, you'll do better with Canon's PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case.

I read this was a good case to get for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 so I ordered one at the same time I ordered my camera.

I got them on the same day and was happy.

I like the case, it is padded and has a little pocket in the front, but I was hoping the pocket was a little bigger. You can't really fit anything in there.. maybe a SD card, but it can't have to bulky a case and there is no way a battery will fit in there.

As for the camera, I liked it at first, it has a snug fit and seemed perfect, but then I realized how unperfect it was. I put the wrist band on it and all the sudden it was way to hard to close, I was afraid I'd scratch it trying to get it zipped. I found a way around this by turning the camera backwards facing away from the pocket.

Another thing I noticed and I HATED was when it was turned the right way with the wrist band on (not sure about without it.. only noticed after I put it on) is that the fit was TO tight that sometimes when zipping it up the zipper hits the on off switch and tries to turn it on.. which isn't good cuz the lense has no where to go! Again, turning it backwards seems to help with this, but I still have to be real careful when putting it up to avoid hitting it...

I like the snug fit but at the same time I wish it was a little bit bigger, I'm afraid if I am in to big of a hurry I might accidently hit the camera with the zipper or something.

I just purchased a Canon SD4000 and wanted a good case to secure the camera. I went with Caselogic TBC-302 and I love the fit.

I had many different cases and every time I get frustrated of keeping the camera in the case because it doesn't fit in my pocket.

Usually, I would just keep the case in my bag and the camera in my pocket.

The TBC-302 size fits comfortably in a regular pair of jeans.

Enough room for a spare battery and SD card.

Purchased this on advise from other reviews for the Panasonic Lumix ZS7 I purchased. Case holds the camera and an extra battery in the main section, and the memory chips in the small section. Has a loop to be attached to your belt. It is very small and a tight fit for the above, but it is perfect for what I wanted. Sturdy construction and has a little bit of padding to keep the camera secure. Perfect case for this camera and the few esstentials you need to bring along.

I just purchased a Panasonic Lumix ZS7 from Amazon and am looking for a case to protect it. I read a few reviews on this case that referenced Panasonic Lumix and/or ZS7, so I ordered one. Don't make the same mistake I did!

This case is too small for the ZS7 (or any similar size model). Once you cram it into the case, it really takes some effort to get the zipper closed. I'm afraid of the zipper scratching the new camera. Since return shipping costs almost as much as I paid for this case in the first place, I'm stuck with it or selling it online elsewhere.

I'm giving the product a good rating because I do like the case, it just doesn't fit my specific camera, which I had no way of knowing until after ordering it. There could be more cushioning, so like others have mentioned, I wouldn't expect it to protect the camera very well if dropped from several feet. But to protect from scratches and average jostling around, it's decent enough.

Update: I checked out a few stores in my area, taking my camera along with me for a fitting.

If you like the looks of this case, but want one for your ZS7 or similar size model, check out the Case Logic TBC-303. The camera will fit, with room to spare, plus has the zippered storage pocket on the front. Similar to the TBC-302, it will hold the camera and offers some protection from bangs and scratches, but isn't likely to protect your camera much if dropped. The big-box store that starts with a "W" is selling it for nine bucks in my area.

If you want something with more cushion/protection, I would recommend the Case Logic QPB-202. It has a plush interior with thicker cushioning along with a hard molded front. It wil fit the camera inside and has a mesh pocket for memory cards and an extra battery. Definitely feels like it would better protect the camera if dropped from a few feet up. I'm buying it from Amazon for less than ten smackeroos. The "W" store didn't carry it and the office supply chain had a higher "Max" price, over thirteen bucks. - Canon Digital Camera - Compact Digital Camera Case - Canon Powershot Sd1200is - Canon'

Frustration-fre - 4 gb, frustration-fre

The Kingston 8 GB microSDHC Card works flawlessly with all my memory card readers: Kingston Mobilite, Kingston microSD Card Reader, and SD Card Reader. Windows (XP) has no trouble recognizing it as a removable drive.

- Device Compatibility

Using a microSDHC to MS PRO Duo Adapter, I am able to use the Kingston 8GB microSD in my Sony Cybershot DSC-W170 Camera -- it works like a charm; the camera has no trouble capturing pictures and videos (at a frame frate of 30 fps and a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels). All of my devices, such as my Garmin nüvi 360 and my HP iPAQ 111, are able to recognize the full capacity of the SD card.

- microSDHC Format

microSD cards of 4GB or larger are known more specifically as microSDHC cards. This 8GB Kingston card is therefore a microSDHC card. Beware that some older devices are NOT compatible with the microSDHC format. Such devices will only work with microSD cards with capacities of 2GB (such as this Kingston 2GB microSD card) or less.

(The technical specification for the SDHC/microSDHC format supports capacities ranging from 4GB - 32 GB. microSDHC cards of 16GB, such as this Kingston 16GB microSDHC card, is the largest capacity available as of this writing.)

- Class 4 Speed

This SD card is rated class 4 (data transfer rate: 4 MByte/sec, or 32 mbps) - sufficiently fast for the majority of electronics. A decidedly small number of electronics, most notably some camcorders and high-end cameras, require a class 6 SD card (the fastest transfer rate as of this writing). Transcend makes one that's rated class 6.

- Frustration-Free Packaging

Kudos to Amazon for their Frustration-Free Packaging efforts in using only recyclable packaging materials and in keeping the amount of packaging used to a bare minimum. As a giant in the e-tailing industry, Amazon's move will no doubt serve as an impetus for getting the rest of the e-tailers to follow suit!

---

The Kingston memory card is compatible with devices that support the microSDHC format. It is a fast (class 4) memory card with plenty of storage. Definitely recommended if the specs meet your needs! Kingston 4 GB microSDHC Class 4 Flash Memory Card SDC4/4GBET

I didn't see any reviews for this product, so I wanted to let you know that the 8GB (7.4GB usable) works on my BlackBerry 8310.

Interestingly, although the BB showed 8GB with the new card, I only saw 4GB (3.2 or 3.4GB usable) when I first connected to my laptop and the computer asked to format the card when I enabled Mass Storage Mode (I used this mode to drag and drop into the BB). I could only see 4GB on my work computer as well.

However, after standalone reformatting the card (to FAT32) on my friends Compaq both of my computers (and phone) now properly see it as an 8GB card. My computer and phone information is below.

laptop: Win XP Pro w/ 4.2.2.12 BB Desktop Manager

work computer: BB desktop manager 4.6.0.12 with win2k pro

phone: curve 8310 with firmware: v4.2.2.170 and AT&T as provider

I'm looking forward to using the expanded storage!

I bought the Kingston 4gb micro SDHC card for my Blackberry 8830. At the current time, my particular Blackberry cannot accommodate a card larger than 4 gb, due to OS software that is not yet up to speed. The Kingston card is every bit as good as the more popular brands, with the exception of having a lower price. Be aware that using the included SD adapter is great...HOWEVER, if your laptop or desktop SD reader is not rated to read HC (high capacity) cards, then you may not be able to view the contents of the card or make changes using your computer(s). This happened to me, so I purchased a $10 USB SDHC card reader, and now I can use these higher-capacity cards in both my older laptop and desktop SD drives. Of course you can transfer data via a direct connection with your cell phone, for example, but it usually takes longer to do it that way.

Yes folks, unless you are absolutely sure about the vendor's reputation, I would say that most of the flash memory cards sold on line are fakes. This really is a huge problem since most of the buyers are unaware of this. So, what exactly is a fake? These are usually inferior graded flash memory that has been used to "upgrade" to an apparent higher capacity card with a name brand manufacturer's sticker on it. This type of counterfeiting is no different than selling bogus Rolex watches at greatly discounted prices. But the bigger and more insidious problem with bogus flash cards is that the customer is not aware of it, unlike the phony Rolex's where the buyer usually knows that they are knockoffs. The card may fail right away, or as more typically happens, they will work for a while and then fail...leaving the owner not a clue as to what went wrong. I purchased a Kingston flash card before our trip to Asia. Everything was going fine until we had snapped just over 100 photos. We were in Shanghai, right after our run through of Japan. The camera would not snap any more pictures indicating that there was a problem (I don't remember the actual message). In addition, we couldn't view any of the photos we had already taken. We thought at that moment that disaster had struck and we had lost all of our precious photos. A savvier member of our traveling group suggested that I might bring the card to photo/electronics shop, as they might still be able to retrieve the photos from the defective card. So here I am running around Shanghai trying to find the proper place to have surgery done on our flash memory card. We finally found a place, but it wasn't cheap. We paid $145 to retrieve the photos, and except for a few, we were able to salvage most. Considering what we spent for the trip overall, it was worth it. But it was also an expensive lesson. Before entrusting your photos to a flash memory card, make sure that you have purchased it from a reputable dealer. And regardless of where you might have purchased it, test the card before using it. There a number of software applications you can run from your pc to do this. I now use "h2testw" to test my flash cards after purchase and before using. It's a free download, just google to find it. You can also get more info on this problem by googleing "fake flash memory cards". I'm posting this on Amazon, because of a previous poster reviewing and reporting his discovery of the fake card he received from this vendor. This vendor is still here, and apparently still selling this memory card even after the buyer reported it to Amazon. So, let the buyer beware, and do his due diligence when buying these items. - 4 Gb - Cell Phone Memory - Micro Sd Card - Frustration-fre'

Cheap Ipod Charger - cheap ipod charger, ipod car charger

The USB cable looks and feels very similar to the apple one, but the chargers have a somewhat cheesy feel. Then again, that's totally to be expected when you buy a whole set for less than half the price of a cable or either charger alone from Apple or one of the name brand companies.

I also should note that the AC adapter is 100-240v compatible, so it can work worldwide. I was wondering about that when I bought it because none of the tech info mentioned it. In fact, the casing itself was designed to be used with the EU style plugs, and that's why it protrudes from the body of the case.

Also, the items I received look like the submitted picture, and not the MFG's picture, for what it's worth... Doesn't matter much because in any case the items aren't very aesthetically pleasing anyways.

Bottom line, from reading the other reviews it looks like they have QC issues, but I wound up with a perfectly functional set at a great price. Apple iPod USB Travel Kit with Car Charger, Travel Adapter & Cable

The car charger worked great. I could charge my iPod while listening to it. I'm currently trying to use the Travel Adaptor, but so far it's not working. I'm trying to discover the problem. It's not the cord, because the cord is working when connecting the iPod to computer. So, I can't really say anything about how the travel adapter works. But I give the car charger 5 stars. It gets the job done.

edit :: i actually got it to work. it works great. you just have to wait a second for your iPod to display the charging symbol.

Guys,

Do NOT EVER buy this product. I lost my Ipod Nano(8gb) because of this cheap nonsense. As soon as I plugged in the charger into the wall outlet, and connected it to the nano, the charger blew a fuse, and had smoke coming out of it. My nano didn't start after that. No matter what I tried. I took it to apple store, and they couldn't start it either. My warranty was void.

Go for real apple products, not for these cheap chargers. I'm not sure if this company BargainCell is selling authentic products, or just cheap makeovers without ever having tested them out.

Again, do not buy it, unless you want to risk losing your ipod.

The charger worked once. When I removed it from the wall electrical outlet an electrical spade just came off in the wall. These items are so cheap that they break the first time it is used. I wouldn't buy this item again.

so cheap. how could you *not* buy this? it screwed up my ipod after using it for a few weeks. now i have issues powering down my ipod. it won't turn off. weird. i've heard this complaint from others, too.

Great product to have for you ipod.

i own an ipod touch 3G. the wall wall adaptor is awesome. I was skeptical when i saw hte price, but the product is awesome

Don't buy the expensive wall adapter from the apple store, these ones works great and usb cable that you get with this product is awesome too.

so stop looking around and buy this.

So far, I really like the charger. The thing I like the best, is the convenience of not having to find a computer to charge My I-pod. Another good feature of this charging unit, is that it doesn't reset the play count(on the I-pod), just because I'm recharging. I recommend anyone with an I-pod to get one of these. My opinion, they are a "MUST-HAVE" type of item for anyone with an I-pod. The price is Phenomenal for such a necessary accessory for any I-pod Nano. I'm very pleased with this product, and the charging time is rather quick. I would appreciate a "Fully-Charged" indicator lamp that can be seen from a distance, to make aware of a full charge, and is ready to be UN-plugged. I would imagine that it'd be a bit extra in cost for such a feature, but I for one, would be willing to pay for it. As long as it isn't an "exorbitant increase", that is. Again, all and all, a pretty good, and necessary product for anyone owning an I-Pod. Too Redundant? Sorry.... - Cheap Ipod Charger - Usb - Ipod Accessories - Ipod Car Charger'

Pore Clarifiers - cleansers, blemish control

i've had acne since the onset of puberty. it has always been pretty crazy and many dermatologists recommended that i take pills. my doctor forced me to try Obaji and i've been using it for the past two years. the toner is the most important part of the system, in fact, at this point, it's the only part i use. as a chemist and a future dermatologist, i've now found out that the salicyclic acid is key and any products with a high concentration of it would produce the same results. you won't find these products in drugstores but you can definitely order them on amazon. this product overall smells absolutely amazing and makes my pores SOOOO tiny after a hot shower or after having my pores cleaned professionally. minimal redness and drys very quickly. you only need a little bit so don't overdo it. Obagi Medical Clenziderm M.D. Pore Therapy Salicylic Acid 2% Acne Treatment, 4-Ounce Bottle

At age 50 I have trouble with acne/sensitive skin. Works so much better than other Acne products. I have used just

about every acne product on the market and this whole set, steps 1 through 3 work so well together. Cleared up my face in just a few

days and keeps it clear. I can now back off to once daily in the p.m. and use the aging Obagi products at a.m. Does not over dry my

skin or cause irritation. Give it a try!

I am almost 30 years old and my face starting breaking out just as bad as it did as a teenager before I went on Accutane. I was not wanting to go back on Accutane, and was SO GRATEFUL that this product was recommended to me by several sources. When my husband was in medical school, he did a rotation with a dermatologist who had LOTS of patients using parts of the Obagi system. My friend recommended the clenziderm kit for acne, and I can't believe what a miracle it has been. Really, my breakouts completely stopped once I started the cleansing system. My family was in town visiting a few weeks ago, and when I saw them again last weekend, they couldn't believe my face had cleared up! Seriously, I haven't had a single zit since I started, and I am going on 3.5 weeks. I am so happy and thrilled about the results of the obagi clenziderm system!

This product line is amazing! My mom has used Obagi for 10+ years and has great skin. I have acne on my chin and cannot get rid of it. However, Clenziderm has really helped! I break out less and less frequently and when I do break out my acne clears up quickly. Most importantly, the red blemishes fade faster. I was getting monthly glycolic facials at the dermatolgist to get the same results. I wish I had this product while I was a teenager or a college student.

This is great stuff. I'm on my 3rd bottle. My dermatologist suggested it to me. It has a nice smell. It dries out oily spots on your skin. You may want to combine this with an exfoliator and moisterizer because it can cause some skin flaking. - Pore Clarifiers - Cleansers - Blemish Control - Oil'

I have had these gloves for a month now and have had no problems with them so far. They are both comfortable and supportive during my weight training sessions, and I never sweat in them. One feature I find appealing about these gloves is that they can be put in the washer and dryer for quick and easy cleaning. The design of the gloves shows their feminine side without being too showy (no loud colors), which makes them easy to coordinate with any active wear. Harbinger Womens Anti-Microbial FlexFit Weight Lifting Gloves, Medium

These are the perfect weight lifting gloves!! They are not bulky like others and seem to fit like a glove. Having a velcro opening is hard to find in a ladies glove and it is essential to getting them on and off easily.

If you have large hands, order the largest size. I did and they fit fine. The velcro closure is a nice feature that assists in removing them and keeps them fitting nicely. I find it slightly sexist that it's so difficult to find a pair of women's gloves that has decent padding. I don't lift weenie 5 pound weights. If you do, this glove is perfect for you. But if you do heavier lifting, you will not get the proper comfort and protection you need from these gloves.

This is my first pair of gloves I bought myself. I have been lifting for over a year now and my hands were very calloused. I read many reviews concerning other gloves and these pair of gloves got many 5-star ratings.

I am very happy with thses gloves. I have a small hand and they fit perfectly. Not loose and no pinching with you grip the bar.

I will continue buying from this company and hopefully they will continue making THESE pair of gloves.

Initially I was very excited to receive these new gloves. I like the idea of the Anti-Microbial material. After several uses, however, I found these gloves to be lacking. The FlexFit material gives the gloves too much stretch causing a lot of movement, i.e. blisters. I do think that the padding on the inside is well done and hope to find a different pair with the same padding but less stretch on the topside. The bottom line is that these gloves aren't useful for any serious weightlifting. You'd be better off without gloves.

My hands from wrist to the top of my middle finger is under 6.5" and the small size fits perfectly.

I hate pink and other "girly" touches on sport equipment but I don't mind the arsty/mesh/piece-y backing since: 1) at the least the color/pattern is a subtle black and white 2) the mesh and piece-y design helps keep hands cool 3) less material means faster drying time after washing.

I only use these to keep blisters away and add comfort when working out with free weights and the suede "padding" on the palm is perfect for grip and added cushion without bulk.

If I could change one thing it would be to make the finger length twice as long --- the shorter it is, the more it tends to end up scrunched up and not providing coverage.

I've tried multiple types of gloves, and this is the best performance by far. I love the cushion that it has for the inside - after two years it is a little worn out but not enough to impact the performance of them. I recently lost my left glove and quickly ran out and picked up another pair. Definitely worth them money!

I had some other gloves that were too heavy and bulky for me, as I'm not a hard-core lifter. I enjoy pull-ups, and light to medium weight lifting, I wanted a glove that would give me good grip and enough padding to prevent blisters and calluses without adding bulk. These gloves are exactly that! I love them! For sizing help, my hand measures 7 inches around and the medium fits perfectly. When I first opened the package, I thought they looked small, but they went right on and come off very easily, perfect fit. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I lift 4-5 days a week. I lift heavy and these just don't cut it. Padding is poor, doesn't cover the whole palm and the fingers curl in making heavy deadlifts a pain in the hands. 6 months old and have holes near the finger pads.'

Hdtv Receivers - apple, elgato

This review taken verbatim from my tech column... Overall, great product but requires some computing horsepower to really shine.

Last week, Elgato announced a new TV tuner/DVR solution for the Mac. It is called the EyeTV HD and pulls 720p HD cable content right from your cable box. The device was born out of the need to get television shows and movies out of the living room and on to the multitude of devices people are using to get their daily fix.

After one week of using the EyeTV HD, I have come to the conclusion that for Mac users, there is no better way to move content from cable box to computer. Initial setup time is less than 15 minutes and is very straightforward. As soon as the cables are connected and software installed, the little guy can be put to work recording content to your computer's hard drive. By using an IR blaster to control the cable box, cannels can be switched by the EyeTV software, thus enabling scheduled recording- just like a standard DVR. The programming guide is powered by TVGuide and matched up accurately with my FiOS on-screen listings. This service is subscription based ($19.99/year) but Elgato includes one free year with hardware purchases.

Programs can be recorded manually, or by adding them to the record schedule. The EyeTV HD works just like a stand-alone DVR, but only one program can be recorded at a time. Content is stored in a proprietary EyeTV format that weighs in at about 5GB per hour- small hard drives need not apply. To set up a recording, all it takes is a click on the record icon located beneath the show listing, the EyeTV software does the rest.

Once recorded, content is converted for playback on the iPhone, iPad, or both. In addition, recordings can be exported to all the popular formats, including DivX, Windows Media, and native H.264. The converted content is also automatically added into iTunes, complete with title, description, cast, rating, and more. This makes searching for specific shows or moves extremely easy and I found it to be a nice touch. Want to edit the recordings before sending them to you mobile device? That can be done within the EyeTV app as well. Users can trim out commercials and split up long recordings with a few clicks of the mouse. The process is very intuitive and also nondestructive, as original recordings are kept alongside the edited copies.

In addition to functioning as a DVR, the device can also stream both live and recorded programs to an iPhone using the optional EyeTV app ($4.99). My experience streaming over WiFi was flawless. Content streamed from a 2.66GHz MacBook Pro to an iPhone 3GS looked as if it were being played locally. Viewing over 3G also worked well, though video would frequently re-buffer, especially in congested areas. Current 3G speeds are not really designed to stream high quality video, but as the faster networks come into use, apps like this will really begin to shine.

Overall, the EyeTV HD works as advertised. The video quality is high, the conversion process works without a hitch, and the video editing is simple. One thing to keep in mind is the reality that you will need to have the HD set-top box near your computer for this all to work. Component video cables can easily be found in 10-foot lengths, but beyond that, the risk for signal quality loss comes into play. Bottom line, Mac users serious about their television will not be disappointed with Elgato's latest offering.

The good:

- TV lovers' dream come true, only limited by the size of your hard drive

- Setup instructions are clear, takes less than 15 minutes

- Captures high quality 720p HD

- Quickly converts video to iPhone and iPad friendly formats, about 5 minutes per half-hour of video

- Editing is very easy

- Can also record from S-video and composite video with included adapter

- Ability to stream to iPhone over Wi-Fi and 3G (see below video for demo)

The bad:

- Core 2 Duo Mac required, very processor intensive to run

- Cable/Satellite box needs to be located near the EyeTV HD and computer

- Annual subscription to TVGuide required after first year, $19.99

- Decreased productivity levels resulting from 500 channels of television on computer and in pocket Elgato EyeTV HD DVR for HD cable and satellite TV

Have this hooked up to an intel Mac Mini that meets the minumum cpu speed specification. I'm learning more about this product and have updated this review three times. Overall very happy with the product, this should not be considered a negative review, although I talk about the areas I am having problems.

The product provides an excellent picture up to 1080i and de-interlaces the output realtime. I used a higher quality component cable than the one that came with the unit, and was able to improve the DVR picture slightly but perceptibly. Could not find my cable box (Mediacom in California, Pace DC700X HD) listed, but was able to snoop around and found settings designed for another set top that worked without too much effort. TVGuide had a couple of the HD channels mis-scheduled or mislabeled for my cable provider. El Gato contacted TVGuide for me and had the schedule repaired. TVGuide was slow (took over a month) but El Gato was very responsive with keeping me updated and letting me know when the guide was fixed. Meanwhile the EyeTV software had the scheduling flexibility to work around the inconvenient annoying problems with the schedule guide once I understood them.

The remote that comes with the unit initially had a serious problem but el gato fixed it with a SW update. The supplied remote still seems to be a bit weak and highly directionally sensitive at about 18 ft. I prefer my apple remotes that came with my computers as they work better and control the EyeTV software adequately. These are $20 from Apple. Some important common functions however on Apple's remote require you to hold down a button, and if you forget you will get sent into FrontRow, Apple's bundled multimedia player software.

Overall the product is not idiot-proof, as other family members might get lost at times using the product. I found the pause, rewind and FF in live HD TV to be very smooth and useable. Programming the software to record favorite shows or movies is very easy. Watching Live streaming TV on the IPad in the house over WiFi worked well as long as the software was not trying to perform other tasks at the same time. I found the streaming HD video to the ipad a bit soft and not completely up the the capabilities of the ipad display. I actually transcode all my video to H264 and then stream it the the "Air Video" app on my ipad ($2.99 from inMethod avail on iTunes). Also found that the EyeTV software is multitasking, but does not use good judgement when scheduling tasks. The software would start tasks in the background (like exporting video for iTunes/iPod) when I was watching or streaming Live/Recorded TV, and the live/recorded video would become too jerky to watch (remember I have the slowest computer supported). One time when away for a week the system recorded a string of movies. At a specific point something went wrong and the video/audio began skipping and the sound was not synchronized - don't know what caused it. This would have gotten fixed if I had been home checking on things, but once it occurred it did not self correct and destroyed about 10 scheduled recordings. So the system needs to be monitored a bit. Some families use DVRs exclusively when watching live TV. I will do that comfortably with this product, but other family members will prefer direct interaction with my cable box, foregoing the benefits of DVR. This is a bit of a problem, because they will end up changing the channel in the middle of a recording. Ideally if I were really serious, I would get another cable box exclusively for DVR.

Been eyeing a mac DVR purchase for years, and El Gato has now produced a product that I will buy. I have the ability to record all 200 channels coming out of my cable box including premium HD content. I am using the product to record 1080i video, then edit the endpoints of the recording, and export to 720p for TV and iPad. It produces a 5Mbps 720p that works on both the iPad and the TV. I move these recordings to iTunes. This process requires quite a bit of interaction with the software and I wish it was a bit more automated. Tried a FW800 drive and EyeTV Turbo H264 to offload some I/O / Processing related to exports. Transcodes video faster but does not release CPU for streaming video. Still exploring the capabilities, querks and limitations of the product, but overall very happy.

Wish List: EyeTV software should provide option to manually pause exports as well as automatically pause all exports / edits while recording / watching / or streaming video. Exports should also pause when the EyeTV software is quit, and resume then the software is restarted. This will add the fifth star. - Hdtv Tuner - Apple - Elgato - Mac'

Power Cord - ac adapter, laptop battery chargers

I bought this charger but it did not work and there was no option to be replaced so I wrote a negative review about it. After a couple of days they called me " Remove your review we will send you a new charger". I removed my review but they never did. If you were me, what would you write? Laptop Charger AC Adapter Power Cord Plug for Acer Aspire 1680 3000 3500 3600 3680 3935 4520 4530 4730 5000 5050 5100 5315 5335 5515 5520 5530 5530z 5535 5535z 5570 5580 5580z 5720 5730 5730z 5735 5735z 6530 6920 6930 6935

I checked the output against the original charger, everything was the same. It fit, so I used it. Less than two weeks later, the notebook stopped charging, Windows started giving me warnings to replace my battery, and within a few days, the computer wouldn't even turn on or charge. Fortunately, the laptop was under warranty and all I had to do was send it in and buy an OEM replacement charger for a little more. Oh, almost forgot, shortly before returning this made-in-China piece of junk, the part that plugs into the laptop came out entirely when I was unplugging the thing.

Cheap internal components.

Cheap manufacturing methods.

Cheap charger that fries laptops.

Spend a little more and buy the EXACT MODEL of charger that came with your laptop. This will keep you from having to replace the whole thing.

Thank you, Amazon.com, for your customer service. It was only good part of this whole experience.

I don't usually write reviews very often, but for cheaply made stuff like this power cord, I thought I should - to warn others from making the mistake of buying it. I've now gone through two replacement cords in about a month - both so poorly made they just stopped working all together - the tip that plugs into the computer is the problem - very flimsy and starts to become defective very quickly. Now, on the third try - I will spend extra to get the proper power cord. Do not purchase this cord - it will stop working in short time!!

We ordered two chargers in March 2010 from this co. for our AC Aspire 5735Z. After 3 weeks the first one stopped charging. we switched to the second one, and it lasted for a week. No refund was avaible since it was now 30 days, so we had to absorb total lost. I would not reccomend this product, customer beware!

Works with my Aspire 5050 just fine.

I have only experienced 2 problems so far, both which are minor.

-The cord itself is shorter than the one I previously owned. I have to set the box portion on my desk, otherwise it would hang about halfway down my desk and pull on the cord.

-The actual portion that plugs into the computer is long for the Aspire 5050, and has a good centimeter of exposed metal.

I bought this about a month and a half ago and it doesn't work. It did work for about 2 weeks, and for no reason it just stopped working. I guess that's why they sell it for 8 and change compared to a real replacement which would have cost me $60. Don't waste your money trying to find a bargain because you will get what you pay for!

Within 2 weeks after purchasing this item, the connector became very very hot and melted into the laptop. I was able to get the connector out of the laptop but strings of melted plastic came out with it. I am very unhappy with this power cord. Not sure if the laptop is even usable anymore, won't power up even with battery-power. Don't purchase this product.

This laptop charger was awful! When I received it, the wiring was frayed. It disabled my mouse whenever I had it plugged in, and ended up shorting out the battery on my laptop. Will never buy from this seller again! - Ac Adapter - Acer - Aspire - Laptop Battery Chargers'
