Internal Hard Drive
I installed this in my C2D 2.16Ghz MacBook Pro yesterday and couldn't be happier. The size has freed me from continual file cleaning and the speed increase is noticeable. There is a slight bit more noise from the drive, but is sounds like a white noise generator, a gentle hiss/hum, nothing to worry about and I am picky. There is no clacking or anything truly noticeable, definitely no heat issues.
As far as some of the comments people have posted regarding noise I would recommend anyone who has noise problems after the install check the rubber grommet mounts. If you don't get them back in place properly the mounts can't do their job and the noise will resonate thru the sounding box that is the MacBook Pro. As far as heat issues I would guess the user didn't check the cooling fans. I pulled my fans while I had it open and found each heatsink 1/3 covered in a cake of dust. I cleaned them and now the whole thing runs cooler.
NOTE: Do not get the WD3200BJKT for a MacBook or MacBook Pro. Apple includes a sudden motion sensor in the laptop and if you get the WD3200BJKT the sudden motion sensor in the drive will conflict with the unit in the laptop and neither will work. Western Digital 320 GB Scorpio Black SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive WD3200BEKT
I purchased this one over the other one that was 320 gb and with a speed of 5400. this one is faster at 7200. it was so easy to replace my ps3 hard drive. i went from a 60 gb to a 320 gb. the only downside is that after i formatted it, it only showed 298 gigs available but i knew that would happen after reading the reviews for the other 320 gb drive that has the speed of 5400. bottom line works like a charm. i have played games offline and online for few weeks on it. i have seen several blue ray movies on it too. i cannot even hear it running. works great! I really havent notice that it runs faster than the stock PS3 seagate drive however it is much faster, so i am sure t must help a little. i also havent notice any diffferece as sound goes. the noise is just as quiet as the original if not more quiet. if you want to learn how to replace your hard drive on your ps3 go to youtube. there are so many videos on how to do it, it was a peace of cake.
This is a very good drive. It's fast and runs relatively cool. However it is extremely noisy. In my early 2009 macbook I can feel the vibration constantly. When placed on a desk I can feel the vibration on the other side of the desk. Not to mention constant whirring noise. It drove me insane. My old Dell XPS was loud but not as loud as this. Maybe i am just used to very quite operation of 160gb 5400 rpm drive that came with my macbook. Or perhaps the unibody construction of the macbook is amplifying the vibration as I don't see many reviews complaining of the noise. I've return the drive and got Hitachi Travelstar 320gb 7200rpm. It is a world of difference. just as fast, just as cool, and much much quieter. I highly recommend Hitachi over the WD.
Many people overlook upgrading their hard drive when looking for a performance boost. Because RAM is easier to install, and because there is a lot of common knowledge out there that RAM is the best thing to upgrade for speed increases, many notebook owners don't realize that if you have a 5400rpm drive, it is most likely your hard drive that is the biggest bottleneck in your computer.
This WD Black 7200rpm drive is the perfect solution for a relatively easy and hugely beneficial switch from a 5400rpm drive to a 7200rpm drive. Another benefit is that the 16mb buffer size will give you an edge over most 5400rpm drives that only have an 8mb buffer.
Installation varies depending on your computer model. Make sure that you can access the hard drive bay before you purchase a replacement drive! Also make sure that if you plan to transfer files from your old drive to the new one that you know what means you'll be using to make the transfer. I recommend using Arconis True Image (which you can get a free 30 day trial of from their web page. Just Google it) which allows you to clone the entire drive so that you have a seamless 1-1 copy of the original drive that you can immediately boot from. To do the data transfer, you can use a hard drive enclosure, or if you have a networked PC, you can install the drive into your PC, do the clone, and then transfer the drive to the laptop.
There are larger drives coming onto the market in this form factor (500gb, 750gb) but unless you really need all of that space for media files, this is still a very nicely priced drive that comes in at about .40 per gigabyte.
This is a very reliable, high quality drive that will serve you well. Highly recommended.
If you have one of these mid-2009 Macbook Pros (15" or 13"), then you may need to downgrade your firmware from EFI 1.7 to EFI 1.6 in order to use this hard drive internally. You should go to an Apple Store and request that they do this, as there is a utility floating around the web that you might be tempted to use, but I'd be wary of it. I had to hunt for a store that understood how to perform the downgrade -- the Valley Fair store in Santa Clara, CA, had a Genius that knew how to do it. Now this downgrade does limit the SATA interface speed to so-called "SATA-I" which means 1.5Gbps transfer speeds. But this speed is more than enough for a 7200RPM drive, it's only a SSD that would be limited by the slower SATA speed.
As a further explanation, the EFI 1.7 firmware update was meant to enable "SATA-II", meaning 3Gbps transfer speeds, that are necessary for SSDs. However, it introduced this incompatibility that prevents these Macbook Pros from functioning with 3rd party "SATA-II" drives such as this one. Search the Apple community support forums for a topic titled "Firmware update and SATA II hard drive" for more information on this problem.
Let me reemphasize a point -- this EFI firmware downgrade is only necessary when using the hard drive internally through the SATA interface. When the drive is in an external USB enclosure it works fine with EFI 1.7.
As for the drive itself, it seems great so far.
(Some people might think this review is slightly off-topic, but I wish someone else had figured this out and posted this here before... I spent almost a week discovering this, even returning 1 disk to Amazon, thinking it was faulty.)'

I received these amazing looking mules (5 star worthy for look, feel, and fit) and was disappointed to see that they had actually been tried on and scuffed up quite a bit (there goes one star). Additionally, one spot on the toe stitching is noticeably brighter (down another star). Wow, they feel so good and if I return them they no longer have my size available! Not Worth The Wait - video games, babes
Let me start off by saying I've played all the Duke Nukem games (including the original 2-D side scrollers) and loved them. I was really looking forward to see the latest incarnation. I was disappointed to see all the negative reviews and thought it couldn't possibly be as bad as they say. I rented the game from Redbox to check it out before shelling out the full price. I am saddened to say the game really is bad.
My complaint is with the mechanics of the game play and not the crude humor. It's Duke Nukem after all. If you don't like crude, vulgar, sexist humor (and I do) then you shouldn't buy it to start with! The problem is the poor game play, boring levels, frustrating targeting and unbalanced damage received vs inflicted.
You have to interact with your environment by opening doors, picking up objects and pushing buttons, many times while trying to avoid enemies. Duke has to align precisely with the objects in order to interact. This is tedious when not fighting and deadly when trying to pick up an object to throw at an enemy while it is inflicting damage on you. The targeting on the weapons is difficult to control while in a battle resulting in a lot of wasted ammo. Also, the crosshairs are white and tend to blend into the background making it hard to determine where you are shooting. You can also only carry two weapons, which takes away a lot of the fun of the old game where you could kill enemies in varied ways by switching between the many weapons you carried. You also tend to run out of ammo quickly because you only have two weapons.
Some levels are frustratingly tedious like the RC car level where Duke is shrunk down and drives an RC car. The whole level is spent driving around and trying to figure out where to go with no obvious destination in mind. The plot and action in general are very slow (you can't jump past story line video even if you've already played it once). The load time between levels is also exceeding long for some reason.
The graphics are good with some humorous references to old Duke Nuken games and more modern first-person shooters (like Halo) but overall the game is not worth paying full price for. Wait a few months and I suspect you will find it in the bargain bin. Duke Nukem Forever
For the first time in my life, I am considering selling a game before finishing it. I wanted to love this game, and it really pains me to say this, but this game isn't worth the frustration it causes--and it certainly isn't worth the absurd price tag.Sadly, this review won't contain any information that hasn't already been stated ad nauseam by all the other frustrated players who are probably wishing they hadn't bought the game, either. Even so, I figured I would add my 2-star review in the hopes that others will take us seriously when we say YOU SHOULD NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!Let's start with the basics. There's the graphics. It's blatantly obvious (at least to me) that most of the graphics were developed a decade ago, and then were retextured at the last second before final release. Unfortunately, the developers did an abysmal job covering their laziness. In the very first level, all one has to do is walk up to a wall and look at the posters to see the developers' error. Extreme pixelation that becomes blockiness up close? I wouldn't even expect to see that in a game from 5 years ago. I wouldn't even expect to see that on a Wii, which has a fraction of the graphics-rendering power of the XBOX 360. This should not be happening, period. It speaks volumes about the amount of effort that went into this game. The controls are clunky. They just don't feel right. They lack the kind of smoothness one would hope to see in an FPS. Then there's the slow gameplay in the beginning, and the fact that you find yourself going through the levels with no weapons or enemies to fight for such an amount of time that you will find yourself wondering if you're even playing an FPS. And then there's the weapons... One of my favorite things about Duke Nukem 3D was the ability to carry all of the weapons. In this game, you are limited to 2. This makes ammo a problem. I've found myself running around with empty weapons more times than I care to mention. To be fair, the developers put in a lot of stocking crates, but what about later in the game when the more interesting weapons--such as the Shrink Ray--appear? Am I really going to fight off an army with the Shrink Ray and the RPG? It may be more realistic, but Duke Nukem has never been known for its realism. The ability to carry all of the weapons was a charming aspect of the originals that is sorely missed here. Finally, the deal-breaker: The loading times in this game are Draconian. If you die in the game, you'll wish you'd have died in real life; by the time Duke is restored to the last checkpoint, you may already have from old age. I have never played a game with such long loading times. Worse, you find yourself looking at loading screens frequently. A skilled FPS player may find himself spending more time looking at loading screens than shooting at Pig Cops; an unskilled player certainly will. Today's sophisticated gaming console allows for a near total absence of loading screens except for those that are necessary between levels. Player death simply does not warrant such long pauses. It's abusive, both of the console's capacity and the player's patience. Having just replayed the same scene 7 times in the last 30 minutes (which speaks more to my poor FPS skills than the game's quality, but I do believe it has to do with the clunkiness of the controls), I put down the controller and stopped playing--for good this time. Until some sort of patch is released to address this issue, the game is unplayable as far as I am concerned. The makers of this game are probably kicking back in Aruba with Pina Coladas and little umbrellas, toasting to their brilliance--and they should be; they duped a generation into buying a video game only because it bore the label of a predecessor that was released a decade earlier. While they are busy laughing their way all the way to the bank, I'm going to be trying to find a way to sell this monstrosity before it depreciates into worthlessness. As of this date (July 9, 2011, less than 1 month from the date of release), the game is already selling for $37.99 from Amazon--just over half of what I paid to buy it. - About Time They Made This - Babes - Finally - Video Games'

Iron On
I bought these to fix the knees on my boys' jeans. They are easy to iron on, and they stick a lot better than the patches I bought at a French hypermarket.
My boys can still manage to make them start coming unglued, but that's pretty rare - and they are extremely active boys (4 & 6 years old) so they are an acid test. I can usually just iron them back on around the edges and they hold another month or so, or until the boys destroy the jeans entirely.
However, I wish they were a bit thicker. I would rate them 5 stars if they were. As it is, my boys wear them through and I wind up ironing patches on patches - sometimes up to 4 patches deep. Bondex Iron-On Patches 5x7" 2/Pkg.-Denim

Digital Camera - photography, lens pen
If you haven't used a lens pen, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised -- it works well. The description doesn't make it very clear that this product has TWO different cleaning tools, one at each end. The brush, which retracts, is to take off dust particles. Hidden in the other end is a soft pad with a cleaning agent to remove fingerprints and more serious dirt, hopefully without damaging the anti-reflection coating on your lens.
My only reservation is that this particular "Cleaning System" is a bit overpriced (at the time I wrote this review, Amazon was selling it for about $21). Essentially identical double-ended Lens Pens without the Nikon name attached cost $8-$10 from many sources, including Amazon (search "Lens Pen"), so you're paying quite a lot to impress your friends ;-)
One more thought: another reviewer mentioned cleaning his lens daily with this product. That's not such a great idea. Camera lenses, and especially their anti-reflection coatings, are quite fragile. The more often you clean your lens, the more likely you'll damage the coating, or even scratch the lens due to a small dirt particle on the cleaning pad (likewise, NEVER clean a lens with bathroom tissues, since they contain tiny, hard wood chips).
The fact is, a moderate amount of dust and dirt on your lens does NOT affect the pictures you take, since anything that close to the lens is so out of focus.
PS -- Here's an update: I just got an Adorama Camera catalog that lists this lens pen, WITH the Nikon name, for $6.50! Imagine that. Nikon 7072 Lens Pen Cleaning System
does exactly what it's supposed to, and does it well.
to use:
1. with one end, extend the brush, and wipe debris away.
2. twist the cap on the other end, and take it off. with that end, wipe in a circular motion, and smudges get polished away.
This is a easy to use lens cleaning device.
You use the bush end to remove any debris from the lens, and the pad end to remove fingerprints and the like.
The bush is retractable and soft enough not to damage lenses.
The pad is treated (coated) in such a way as to remove fingerprints without leaving smudges.
I have had excellent results using the Nikon Lens Pen on my Sony DSC F-828 digital camera. However it is important to note that the pad end is much too big to use on the electronic viewfinder (or anything else less than about a half an inch in diameter).
The Nikon Lens Pen appears to be identical to many other LensPens out there (they all seem to be identical except for branding and coloration). Perhaps they are all manufactured by one company (perhaps other than Nikon)?
Of course, this is not world's the most sophisticated lens cleaning system. However, it is one very handy package that takes very little room in your bag and works with reliable and predictable results. I would not use this pen to clean lens that was subjected to what would be considered heavy levels of dirt, but it works well, cleaning those occasional smudges that you get on the lens when a 3-year old decides to touch lens with his finger or a droplet of water dries on the lens.
As an eyeglasses wearer and photographer, clean and scratch free lenses is important to me. This tool sweeps away scratch making surface debris with the soft brush on one end and then polishes away smudges with a suction-cup-like device on the other. I have no idea (nor do I need to know) how this thing works but I know it does.
Hasn't scratched yet - and it's dirt cheap.
For the price, the tool is not bad. The brush works well around the edges of the lens, but take care not to touch it as, even clean hands, will leave a bit of grease on the brush and it does smear the lens. I'm not entirely impressed by the round tip 'polishing' tool. I ordered 2 of these pens and 2 'Lenspens' (by the way - they are absolutely identical and I'm sure they come from the same factory, just with different brands - don't be fooled by the price difference). So far I used one Nikon pen and one Lenspen and both left a bit of 'ghost-smearmarks' on my lenses - not impressive at all. After using the pens I always have to give the lenses a wipe with a cleaning cloth also.
I would approve the use of this tool though, as there is no other way to safely get into the tight corners of the lens area (not with a cloth anyway), and also on the sensor side of the lens where you have even less space to work, this does come in handy.
As closing remark - I will not get anywhere close to a sensor with this pen. It is not being sold as a sensor cleaner, but just in case you were wondering...
This low-priced pen cleaning kit from Nikon is a must-have. I was surprised that it costs less than non-Nikon cleaning pens that do exactly the same.
One end of the pen has a soft brush which is retractable. It's perfect for brushing away dust on the lens. The other end is a cleaning pad, which is used to remove fingerprints and particles that get stuck on the lens. Because this product is small, it doesn't take up any space in the camera bag. It's also very convenient to use.
Of course, if your lens surface is really dirty, you should get a complete cleaning system including lens-friendly cleaning solution and soft tissue paper.
It works prety good specially when you want to clean a small spot on your lens just when you are about to shoot. It's very convenient and easy to carry on.
Be carefull of not pulling brush hairs as they will come off quite easy and will start losing other hairs from then on.
I was skeptical when I ordered the pen because I wasn't too sure how clean it would really keep my lens.
Last week I traveled through out Mexico and visited some beautiful places, along with seeing a lot of family members. With all these family members around, a few accidently touched my lenses. I decided it would be a perfect time to test my new pen. End Result? PERFECTION! The lenses looked like thru were brand new!
I used to carry little paper whipes designed for lenses, but now I use the Nikon Lens Pen and I don't need to worry about carrying whipes and throwing them away. - Lens Pen - Cleaner - Photography - Nikon'

Frank Herbert - space opera, fritz leiber
This is a big anthology, including one full-length novel, several novellas and novelettes, and dozens of short stories, written between the 1870s and the 1960s. The overall quality is very high.
Technically, the Halcyon folks have done their usual good job-- good navigation, few if any typos. My only quibble is that I wish there were some bibliographical information as to the date or place of original publication.
The first work in the anthology is a full novel, James DeMille's "A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder," apparently written in the 1870s. Despite its age, it is quite readable. It starts out as a Jules Vernian piece of hard sci-fi, with dinosaurs surviving in a hidden tropical country near the South Pole. It later becomes more of a social satire in the model of "Erewhon," depicting a society whose values are the opposite of ours. It even has a bit of postmodernism, as the sailors who find the manuscript in the frame story interrupt the narrative to debate whether it is true, a hoax or a satire.
The bulk of the anthology consists of stories published in science fiction magazines from the 1930s to the 1960s. A host of great writers are represented (Poul Anderson, Ben Bova, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Algis Budrys, John W. Campbell, Philip Jose Farmer, Frank Herbert, Fritz Leiber, Murray Leinster, Andre Norton, Frederick Pohl, Kurt Vonnegut, Jack Williamson, H.G. Wells, etc.) and, while the stories may not be the writers' best, they are mostly quite good. There are a few clunkers (if Jules Verne wrote anything else as bad as "In the Year 2889," I'm glad I never read it, and "Subspace Survivors" is sub-par E.E. Smith), but they are vastly outnumbered by the good stories. There are relatively few famous stories here (the only ones which are frequently anthologized are Fredric Brown's "Arena" and Edmond Hamilton's "The Man Who Saw the Future"), so most of these were new to me.
Among the real stand-outs, to my taste, are Leigh Brackett's thrilling "A World Is Born," Charles W. Diffin's eerily prophetic "The Power and the Glory," Carl Jacobi and Clifford Simak's genuinely strange "The Street that Wasn't There," Laurence Janifer's clever "Hex" and Anthony Gilmore's exciting, if dated, piece of pulp fiction, "Four Miles Within." But for any science fiction fan, there is a lot of good reading here at a low price. Highly recommended. The Golden Age of Science Fiction: An Anthology of 50 Short Stories (Unexpurgated Edition) (Halcyon Classics)
The stories are listed above and are at least of historical significance and often very good reading as well. Because of the excellent navigation, including links back to the table of contents at the end of each short story, you can hop around a bit based upon titles or authors that sound interesting whenever you have a little spare time.
The stories in this collection are really good and fun to read. I liked " A World is Born" and "Dead World" in particular. Reading is effortless and the stories say a lot about the authors' creativity. The theme in the Dead World pricked my mind like "The Verdict of Hades" in the The Usurper and Other Stories. Overall, the stories in this collection are well developed. It deserves the 5.
This volume, the first in a lengthy series, contains 50 short science fiction stories from the genre's "golden age" between roughly 1930 and 1960. These "Halcyon Classics" are from a mixture of well-known and relatively unknown authors. Each story is introduced by a sentence from the story--not usually a particularly interesting one. There is no further introduction to the story, nor is there a general introduction to the collection. This is unfortunate, as many readers could benefit from some help placing the stories in their historical context.
Five of the fifty stood out a little:
Peter Baily's "Accidental Death" is the survivor's account of a mission to an alien planet where nearly everything goes badly. Fortunately he has made it back to Earth with his insights about why.
Frederic Brown's "Earthmen Bearing Gifts" could have been a Ray Bradbury story about human exploration of Mars. Brown's Martians have not yet revealed their existence and wait for Earth's first contact with their planet. Location, location, location.
Lester Del Ray's "Dead Ringer" follows Dane Phillips as he tries to prove the existence of hidden aliens among us with amazing powers of physical regeneration. If he only had proof...
Ben Bova's "Next Logical Step" shows how a well-designed combat simulation can work out the implications of any battle scenario. That's a good thing, right?
Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Year of the Big Thaw" is about the survivor of a spacecraft crash learning to adapt to Earth's customs and culture--with a little help from his family.
This collection well represents the style of Golden Age science fiction. Many plots have become clichés by reuse in the years since these stories were published. And much of the science is dated. The narrative style is straightforward with sometimes a single plot twist at story's end. The heroes are heroic and there is a clear character difference between good guys and bad guys. For the most part, women take a supporting role. When they don't, a big fuss is made about how novel this is. It's the good old stuff--a little hokey, but enjoyable as a trip to the past.
This book is recommended for those interested in science fiction's early form. It shouldn't be mistaken for the current currents in the genre's forward flow. If you like these stories forge ahead into the second volume, The Golden Age of Science Fiction Volume II.
Great multi-volume anthologies, 50 stories in each of the 13 volumes. Authors range from the great to the unheard of, but they are all very well chosen and entertaining. My only complaint? How can a compendium from the golden age of science fiction leave out Heinlein and Clarke? Otherwise, well worth the $1.99 per edition times thirteen. That's a lot of sci fi, folks! - Space Opera - Fritz Leiber - Anthology - Ben Bova'

Computer Add-ons - computer add-ons, mice
A review about a mouse pad? You've got to be kidding is probably the obvious thought. But the Wow!Pad mouse pad is truly worth reviewing, especially this smaller 5" x 7" model.
If you travel with your laptop, as I do, you may find that the touchpad isn't enough. (Personally, I really don't like touchpads: they're never responsive or accurate enough.) Most mouse pads consist of a seemingly smooth surface bonded to a usually rubber like bottom.
The Wow!Pad is different. It is extremely thin. The mouse surface is made of some proprietary material that is incredibly smooth. I use a high-resolution mouse and thought everything was fine with my regular mouse pad. When I used the Wow!Pad I was absolutely amazed at how much more responsive my mouse was. If Wow!Pad had the marketing smarts, they would set up actual demos in stores or at least put up a video on their web site. As it is, I bought mine solely because of the size.
As a laptop accessory, it's really great. It is so thin that you can sandwich it between your keyboard and screen (but make sure you put it there with the mouse surface, not the bottom, against the screen). The bottom of the Wow!Pad is some kind of high adhesion material, like those pads they sell for holding stuff temporarily on your dashboard.
So there it is: a review of a mouse pad. But, seriously, the Wow!Pad is unique, truly makes a difference in the responsiveness of your mouse and, in the smaller size, is a greatr laptop accessory.
Jerry WOW!PAD 5" x 7" Laptop/Notebook Mouse Pad--Black Graphite Tech ( 57LT29-002 )
I happily used the similar 3M one for years until I moved and had to buy a new one. Thought I'd try this to see if it lived up to it's name. In my case - it definitely has not. I have used if for a few months now, and found that the "patented non-slip backing" has never worked, and have recently noticed that my hand has unconsciously modified its mousing technique to basically hold the pad down to prevent it from slipping while using the mouse. If I don't do this, it slips around everywhere. I've tried on different surfaces, and cleaning it, with the same results.
I also get a lot more tracking errors than the 3M, which send the screen pointer flying to a random corner of the screen - a real pain if you use "hot corners" to activate your screensaver etc.
I recently bought a $2 no-brand cheapie from the local supermarket that appears to be the same weight and size, and stays put on the desk. Using the same mouse, I haven't had any tracking errors yet either. I wish I had tried the cheapie before buying this product.
The surface is extremely slick, so the mouse glides across the pad with ease. This makes finer movement easier.
My optical mouse always goes where I intend on this pad versus jumping or not moving at first as I've experienced with conventional pads. (I haven't tried a ball mouse on this pad.)
The pad is extremely thin so if you roll the mouse off, it's easy to get it back on without lifting the mouse. Nice feature when gaming! Either the thinness or material of the pad transfers the temperature of the desk to the wrist. While it tends to be cool on a wood surface, I have to protect my wrist with a pad when using it on metal topped desks as it's too cold.
While not enough to rate a 1 star deduction, it does have what appears to be a minor manufacturing process problem. The edge of the pad has small sharp pieces of plastic, as if leftover from the pad being punched out when manufactured. When I handle the pad to travel or move to another location, it scratches and can catch on cloth. While it would be nice if the manufacturer cleaned these edges off, it's not enough of an annoyance to keep me from buying several sizes of these great pads.
I purchased both the 5 x 7 and 12 x 12. The 5 x 7 is way too small for gaming and even too small for general text work such as emailing. The 12 x 12 is great as I don't have worry about where I place my mouse. I can even scoot my mouse to the side and use my desk space and still have my mouse on the pad and usable. I wish I could buy one the size of my entire desk!
If you remember the days of foam-padded, cloth-covered "mouse mats," then you probably would like to forget them: foam coming apart in little balls, fabric collecting a mixture of oils and dust and then transferring it to the inner workings of the mouse. Yuck!
There's a lot to be happy about in the new generation of mousing surfaces. This pad is thin and lightly textured, which works great with both the optical and mechanical mice I've used it with. The plastic surface is easy to clean (and doesn't pick up much dirt anyway); the non-slip backing is neat stuff, as it can be washed off and still return to its original state.
Though this particular size is labeled as laptop/notebook, I find that it's great for a desk where there's not much space. There are two bigger cousins, if you prefer: WOW!PAD 8DG55 8.5" Diameter Graphite Tech Mouse Pad and WOW!PAD LFR48 11.5" x 12.5" Graphite Large Format Mouse Pad. They work well for desktop spaces, assuming there's plenty of room.
I've tried similar products by other companies, but haven't been as happy with them. Maybe I was just lucky, but none of the Wow!Pads I've bought have had sharp edges, and the non-slip backing works great on all of them. This is a superior product at a fair price.
If you have a laptop (and this product is intended for that) then it'll suit you perfectly. If you are looking for a gaming pad, then save the trouble and get something else. This mouse pad simply won't stay in place while you move your hand quickly during FPS battle heat. Maybe I'll try using Windex on the adherent surface (as suggested) to clean it and see if it sticks to my furniture's plaidwood. So far not working good here. I'm back with my old thin Dell mouse pad. - Gaming Mouse Pad - Computer Add-ons - Laptop - Mice'

Camera Accessories - camera strap, camera neck strap
This strap is great in those situations where you are constantly alternating between reaching for your camera and doing some activity (partying, playing with the kids, or even just giving your hands a break).
Also, its nice not to have to always look for a safe place to rest your camera.
The strap is in fact metal on the inside for strength and clear plastic on the outside for scratch proofing.
A metal only strap would eventually scratch your camera's finish. Canon Metal Neck Strap 1 for All Elph Cameras, 34" Length
This is a lightweight and super-strong lanyard-style chain for your camera or whatever which probably could tow a car and yet looks lighter and more attractive than anything else on the market. of course, the cord attaching this to the camera is the limiting factor in overall strength. But it is the right length and allows you to tuck the camera into your pocket or hang full length.
I took my digital camera with the new strap on a recent 10 day trip. The strap was great; it's not too heavy, and long enough to get a good view with the camera. Thanks for your help in finding this strap.
I like this strap, but it is too long and not easily shortened. My camera hangs down to my belt and the camera is prone to swing out and hit things. I'd rather have it shorter so the camera rests higher on my chest. I can put my neck and one arm through it and it's not too tight and sits on my upper chest. Looks goofy though. Materials, construction and appearance are five stars, but function is most important to me.
I am a "Loser"! That is, is LOSE things all the time. Cell phones, digital cameras, my Garmin NUVI 200, even a cigar lighter! So, I started wearing them around my neck. Whether you're a loser like me, a photographer, sportsman, hiker, biker, fisherman, hunter, etc. neck straps can come in VERY handy.
I generally buy Qunataray-brand wrist and neck straps, which are also very nice and have the additional feature of a screw-type "barrel" that makes detaching the strap a breeze.
On the other hand, the Canon strap is MORE SUBSTANTIAL AND DURABLE, and the 34" length provides a LOT of flexibility: if using the strap with a cell phone or digital camera, for example, you can leave the strap around your neck and still use your device to its fullest.
This Canon strap is just right for my wife's Canon A710IS camera. Thin and easy to install on the camera, even fits in the same opening along with the wrist strap. The neck strap keeps the camera fron being accidently dropped, helpful at sporting events or zoo trips. I see no negatives at all. Easy to remove if only the wrist strap is desired. Amazon marketplace seller had it for about 1/2 of Canon's official store price. - Neckstrap - Camera Strap - Camera Neck Strap - Canon'

Good Quality - clothing, socks
These socks were just what I needed for the price that I was looking for. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is bc the cloth isn't very strong and for people like me with not-so-soft heels, they seem to wear out really fast. K. Bell Women's 6-Pack Assorted No-Show Socks, Mid tones, 9-11
These socks are very thin and light. They are not great for shoes that may rub a little bit more than others. I do love them. The pink and green colors are a bit dull. I love the red socks though. They make me feel like I could run 100 mph! They are good for mis-matching also.
i have bought 3 6pack socks in about 3-4 years, first when i was in 7th grade, i picked them out at costco, worn them for less than 6-8 months, and the elastic band that keeps it up around the ankle ALWAYS falls apart, only reason i bought these were that they also had cute little designs on them as well and were priced a bit lower than any other packs of socks. I thought that maybe i got bad quality or defective ones so i went back to costco and bought another one with different designs of them about a year later. I was expecting them to be longer lasting but what you see is exactly what you get. The Last time i would buy these were because my cousin wanted them (also because of the cute little designs) she was hooked in to getting these, and though i warned her about them she still wanted them. Same thing happened to hers, elastic band around the ankle just wouldnt work anymore and started to expand; so she couldnt wear them anymore or else they'd fall down to half her foot if she started walking in them. - Socks - Casual Socks - Clothing'

Michelle Williams - excrement, thriller
I know this kid (Webber) has had a hell of a life and his performances are definitely worth watching. This film has been horribly mislabeled and advertised so I am hoping it gets a fair shake on DVD just to showcase his performance.
First and foremost, I have customers asking about this because they want to see Paxton and/or Drea De Matteo films; they are front billed on this and Webber gets buried on second tier. To be clear - Paxton has 3 minutes and De Matteo has 2 minutes and 6 lines. Zooey has a supporting role but the writing makes it to where her role is (supposedly) important (with a twist in the end) but falls well short of meeting reality. The story of a young adult living a tough inner-city life making ends meet is covered adequately in the writing, and the lengths shown to facilitate his worthiness are noble, but in the end count on it becoming tedious.
I love the whole premise of a classic movie theater being run by the time challenged curator (played by Stanton) and the foreshadowing of the end of our story being played in the first scene - but once you see how this all plays together it leaves more questions than answers and believability goes right out the window. I know I get in trouble whenever I pan a ZD film, but this film cannot hold together above a 3 star reference - I would highly recommend it just to see Webber's thorough performance and Klein showing a much darker (and misplaced for the film) character.
Ignore the whole DVD cover (front and back - "He's finally had enough" - whatever; "Phenomenal" - not really) and rent this to watch some young performers fill some vacant roles. The Good Life
I grew up in Lincoln in a non-football family. While that doesn't sound like a big deal to rest of the nation, Nebraskans will understand that we might as well have been Satan worshipers as far as the Lincoln community is concerned. It's hard to explain to an outsider what kind of insanity is involved when it comes to college football and Nebraska in general but Lincoln more specifically. This movie comes the closest I have seen to capturing it. While many movies have set stage in Nebraska, this is the only movie I have seen that doesn't push the "hick" aspect too far. Whomever wrote this movie had to have lived in Nebraska at some point. You can't make this kind of thing up. I thought the movie was very well written and exceptionally well acted. But people who are not from Nebraska will see the film in an entirely different light than Nebraskans will. To non-Nebraskans, the movie might seem over the top in places and slow in others. But that's how life is there. I found the story to be interested and well thought out. I think that even if there hadn't been the emotional connection to the premise, the movie would have still held my interest.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I rented this, having never heard of it. But it was a chance I'm glad I took - the acting is extremely strong and it's directed with care. It's a slow film, with some interesting plot twists and a generally dark mood...which is fitting, given the storyline. It could have fallen in the trap of just being another "oh I hate my town and I'm bored" flick, but it emerges as much more than that. Highly recommended.
I never heard of this movie. I bought this based on the two best reviews here. I should have made my decision based on the other reviews, like Robin King's:
"If you[`re] looking for a good story, action or suspense skip this movie."
The best part of it was that it was only 89 minutes, but still it was a waste. It was time spent waiting for the story to unfold, to draw you in; but, it never happened! I'm glad also that I only spent a few bucks on it, including shipping.
As for the great actors/acting other reviewers mention, I cannot remember them. I guess they did not make a lasting impression on me, or they are not worth remembering.
I am only reviewing it so that others may not waste their time either.
If your looking for a good story, action or suspense skip this movie. But if you like to see quirky characters played by exellent actors well maybe. Everything about this movie was good, except the story. Being a fan of more suspense or action or even stronger characters I would watch something else. - Cats - Thriller - Excrement - Drivel'

Drywall Saw - hand tool, drywall
I have a 40 year old house that I have been doing a bit of work on - including adding outlets and wiring for data ports among other things. I picked this little wall board saw to help in these efforts and I am truly impreressed with its performance. The teeth cut VERY agressively, which is a huge plus when you have a lot of holes to cut. I am also very pleased with the comfort of the handle and the fact that the blade is rigid enough to "jab" it through drywall without having to drill a starter hole.
All in all this saw is a great performer and worth every penny. Stanley 20-556 6-Inch FatMax Jab Saw
I don't remember exactly what project I bought this saw for, but i've been using it quite a bit in my back yard! The teeth are great and it saws quickly. I have been trying to plant a lot lately and i have too many roots in my back yard from the previous owner. I just stick this saw in the ground (of course knowing there aren't any pipes in the area!) and saw on through the pesky roots...I have used this saw more than my other hand saws for other odd projects as well. Comfortable and a great tool - even after using this saw on ALL KINDS of stuff, teeth are still running strong...
As a contractor for 15+ years, I've owned a number of drywall saws. While they're inherently "low-tech" devices, this Stanley stands out... Sharp tip, 2 rows of serrated teeth, and the back of the handle doesn't destroy your palm when you try to get the blade started... My $0.02.
I've owned a few of these, and many others including Kobalt brand, Greenlee, etc. Klein is the only one that compares (it's basically the same design but costs more). I'll stick with the Stanley...
I love stanley products and this saw is great and sharp and no sheath!! My old husky that this replaced came with a sheath so I just used that but I can't believe stanley would sell this without one. That's just makes no sense to me.
I was creating a couple of openings for new electrical sockets in my home; I had started them by drilling smaller holes around the area I needed to saw out, and though I was using a fairly sharp drill bit, it was quite a task to drill all the way through the 2-layer, 1" thick drywall I was up against. Enter Fat Max... and I mean that literally. That little sucker tore through that drywall like it was French bread, and I was done with both openings in less than five minutes, with much less effort than I expected it to be. This is my first experience using a saw like this, and its ease of use is already giving me more ideas for home improvement. My landlord will just have to deal with it.....
I've been using this saw for the past few months and love it!
It's great for punching small holes as well as cutting large sections of drywall. It also works well at cutting plastic gang boxes (don't ask... the people who built my condo apparently didn't understand the concept of 90 degree angles).
If you need to do any drywall work, get this saw. You won't regret it!
This isn't much of a big deal in tools. When I started making holes in the walls of our house my wife was freaking out! :) I just told her not to worry, and they would be covered. In the end this tool did the job, and did it well. My wife was also happy in the end as well. - Drywall - Handsaws - Stanley Hand Tools - Hand Tool'

Gadget - winch, gadget
The LT2000 Superwinch is a great little winch for the price. This was surprisingly smaller lighter than I expected, but it does perform well for my needs. Here are my observations:
Pros -
+ Lightweight; easy to move around when not in use
+ Powerful; has enough pulling "umph" for the jobs I bought it for (pulling bushes)
+ Easy To Use; controls are intuitive
Cons -
- Cable was caught in the "Back Plate" when it arrived, I had to manually unwind the cable and use a small pry-bar to free it and now I have a concern every time it is used that the cable will get caught again (but it hasn't)
Since this is so light, and we didn't want to permanently attach the winch, we also bought Superwinch 2060 Portable Ball Hitch Mount.
Recommended!
CFH Superwinch 1220210 LT2000 Utility Winch
I have only had this winch on my Outlander 800 for a couple months, so don't have longevity to report. I also don't have a lot of winch experience to compare this against. What I do know is this thing gets the job done for a lot less than the comparable winches. I was able to pull my HEAVY machine out of a deep mud hole, the only anchor point was a tree 50' away to the left. So the winch really had to work to pull me out. I doubt if we could have gotten the ATV out without the winch. To my mind this is a great product for the price.
I bought this winch to use in removing my aluminum 400# shore station from the water each fall. I was able to connect this using jumper cables to the car battery being careful to separate the wires connected to the unit. This easily lifted the shore station through a directional transfer pulley and held it in position while I was able to secure it. The construction is very good and the controls are easy to figure out. The instructions are fine and explain how to set the unit up. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to use the winch for medium duty lifting or moving of heavy loads.
I have owned an ATV for 15 years now. I installed a snow blade with a manual raise/lower handle the next year. I cannot believe for 14 years I would MANUALLY raise/lower that heavy snow blade!! For the money and quality in the Superwinch name, you will not find a better winch. I built a mounting bracket from some scrap 11 ga. stainless steel and stainless steel mounting bolts/nuts. The remote control mounted on the ATV's handlebar via two electrical ty-wraps that I supplied. Total installation time including the wiring was less than 1/2 an hour.
So far so good! Life is so much easier plowing snow!!
This is the second one of these that i purchased. this is for a small weed harvestor boat. It operates a bulldozer type scoop to rid lakes, ponds of weeds. We use larger powerwinch for the boat/trailer. the hand held switch works great.
This is a fine little winch, and at the price it is a steal. I'm thinking about buying another one just to keep as a spare.
The wiring instructions are not real clear, but it is a simple installation and hard to wire incorrectly.
Maybe its not fair, but I expected something a little more robust. The remote controller has very short wires and the connections are less than professional. In fairness I have some of their other "heavy duty" winches and I expected the same robustness, with a smaller motor and capabilities. - Gadget - Atv - Cool - Winch'
